Sorry if I'm late, but if you ever have the time, could you draw a pegasus Longtail? Feel like he'd be fast on his feet as well as his wings, but I haven't thought about some Warrior Cats MLP stuff in forever.
(haircut inspired by the amazing longtail design of @just-some-cat-art)
The number one racer of Thunder Falls, Shockwave is one of the dozen Thestral-blooded ponies in the Four Towns - his father was one! Call him Shocker, Hotshot, or Rudecolt, he IS the fastest being in the skies. His talent however, lies in his voice - he can project so loudly that glass shatters and clouds break apart, throw it across a room, and imitate just about any voice he hears.
He quickly became an antagonist to the recently moved in Rusty Sparks, but after finding out that the stallion he admired was a literal monster AND a massive racist, Shockwave started to cool off towards the earth pony. Their friendship wasn't cemented until Rusty helped save the life of Swift, Shockwave's rising star of a student, from an Umbrum attack. He was even the one that suggested Rusty Sparks change his name to Flaming Comet.
Eventually, Shockwave was attacked by an Umbrum infected Diamond Dog and partially blinded. He thought his flying days were over, but with the encouragement of his friends, he figured out how to echolocate through the skies, with goggles to protect his eyes. He one day will race Rainbow Dash herself, and run his own flight school for special needs students, with his old coach friend Swift Sprint.

Is there any discussion in the Warriors fandom of how badly Brightheart would've had to be mauled to lose half of her face and an eye?
Like I know there's art that implies it (usually in AMVs/PMVs and MAPs) but is there much actual discussion of it? Her face would've had to been bitten enough to not kill her but also tear off her fur and tear out her eye. It almost makes me wonder if the only reason Brightpaw didn't die is because Swiftpaw attacked the dog that was attacking her and forced it to drop her, because Brightpaw should've probably been dead if the dogs were given a chance to maul her so severely, because it's implied they didn't bite down. What probably happened is that one of the dogs grabbed her with intention of killing her, Swiftpaw attacked the dog that was attacking Brightpaw, and the dog attacking Brightpaw dropped her, potentially snagging a tooth on her eye in the process, then directed the dogs' attention onto him and away from Brightpaw.
This turn of events doesn't contradict Secrets of the Clans either; Brightpaw says the last thing she remembered was being slammed against a rock. This is the specific bit that describes 1, Brightheart not remembering when Swiftpaw was killed, and 2, the last thing she remembered before waking up in the medicine cat den:
"I don’t know when the end came for Swiftpaw. I only remember him fighting like all of LionClan. That’s how I will always remember him.
Then I was shaken loose. I felt light as air. I slammed against rock, and everything went dark."
It doesn't contradict Swiftpaw attacking the dog that was holding Brightpaw and that being what she felt and why she survived the initial attack, and honestly it makes me really sad.
#every few months i remember swiftpaw and brightpaw's story and it breaks my heart#warrior cats#swiftpaw#brightheart#tw mention of death#tw mention of gore#ALSO this is a genuine question. i am not active enough in the warriors fandom to know lmao

so who was your favorite warrior cat in the original six books?
i liked yellowfang and barley.
Yellowfang was GOOD but past the six books, in starclan, she SUCKED. god.. og six books..
Longtail, Goldenflower, and/or Cloudtail. i also have a LOT of love for Brightheart.
Longtail is really interesting, because he was a bit of a pushover, sure, but he was also moral. he didn't like Fireheart, but then again, one of his friends and role models was Tigerclaw. y'know. the guy who brutally attacked a kitten as an apprentice, just for being a kittypet. He still wasn't willing to watch Fireheart die, when Tigerclaw was happy to watch him drown. Longtail should've been made deputy instead of Greystripe. I don't know if they KNEW they were going to be ordered to make another several arcs after they finished the first series, but i'd like to THINK if they did, they'd pick anyone but him..
Again, Goldenflower could've been deputy. She was strong and put her kits and clan first. She refused to let prejudiced against them, for their father, go unchallenged. She was also the sibling of Lionheart! And a friend of Bluestar, as seen in Bluestar's Prophecy. i REALLLLY hate bluestar's characterization and think Bluestar's Prophecy made her 100% less likable . Goldenflower, Lionheart, and Patchpelt could've been a lot more justifiable to be a deputy than her, the grieving queen with a history of mental illness leaving her in so much pain she's inconsolable for months at a time. she was definitely old (a bit younger than Bluestar) at the time after Whitestorm's death, but i'm pretty sure Bluestar was like. five-six years old. stupidly young still for a cat, and ESPECIALLY compared to Mistystar ended up being. i know i looked to factcheck the age Bluestar was vs Mistystar but that was ages ago and i forgot.
a lot of people fundamentally misunderstand Cloudtail i feel like, or at least misremember him. the WORST thing he did in his life, was eat kittypet food. he didn't follow the warriorcode, he followed his morals. he supported his friends. which, wowie! sure does sound like Fireheart! If only Fireheart would've..noticed that. and developed. he was always mad like "sigh..why can't Cloudtail have the passion he has for his friends, for the warriorcode?" AS IF HE, HIMSELF, DIDN'T BREAK THE WARRIORCODE GOD KNOWS HOW MANY TIMES
also . for sheer sake of being absolutely pathetic i think Darkstripe's great. he is so. so sad he's the most skrunkly pathetic wet rag of a cat

Does anyone else ever think about how Bramblestar & Tawnypelt's older (half-)brother was killed by their father?
It's a shame that nothing was really ever done with the fact that Swiftpaw was Goldenflower's kit and that he was killed by the dogs that Tigerclaw had involved in his plots against Thunderclan.
Do you think Bramblestar & Tawnypelt ever really thought about it? Do they even remember Swiftpaw? Did they even really process what went into his death or what his death meant?

Religion in Swiftpaw's wish
Inspired by @theoriginalkittypet's lion god au
There were once three gods, Lion [Andromedous], Tigress [Neutraliss], and Leopard [Saggitaro]. Bored of their loneliness in the darkness of the void, they created four domains: The domain of Good, the domain of Mediocrity, the domain of Bad, and the domain of the Living.
Lion took the domain of Good as his main haven, Tigress the domain of Mediocrity, and Leopard the domain of Bad. They all agreed to rule over the fourth domain equally, as the living's recollection of them was what would keep them alive from now on. Things went well for a while; They created twolegs and cats first, and then dogs. After, came the animals of prey, and later the animals intended to keep Cat populations from soaring.
As many many centuries passed, cats began to idolize Lion, fear Leopard, and ignore Tigress. This lead to animosity between the three friends, as Lion's ego grew, Tigress's confidence shrank, and Leopard's concern began to plague their interactions with their friends. Leopard did their best to support Tigress, but she was too downtrodden by the mortal's lackluster opinions of her. Meanwhile, they tried to reason with Lion, but he became increasingly more frustrated with the mortals, as they each had their individual ways of respecting and worshiping him, many of which did not line up with his word.
Many years of this all went by, and eventually, Leopard was sent a cowering, terrified molly - Frecklewish - from Lion's domain. Angry, Leopard started reforming the domain of Bad, shaping it to have levels catered to your level of bad. Many cats who weren't entirely good, but were not one to acknowledge Tigress in life, wound up in their domain, so they made it so that those cats had a safe place to live in their domain. They took a liking to Frecklewish in particular, and decided to make the poor terrified molly their messenger (much to the much worse mapleshade's anger).
Impressed by this new idea, Tigress began looking for her own messenger, as Leopard's relationship with the other two began clearing up due to their use of their beloved messenger. Tigress chose a member of the Sisters who wound up in the domain of Mediocrity, despite having been decently good in life, and her new messenger began teaching her to be confident again. Unfortunately, around this time, Tigress found signs and prophetic warnings that she was fading. It would take a millennia or two, but because of Lion's polarized views, she was being forgotten, and slowly dying. So, she conceived a plan with Frecklewish and Leopard: Convince Lion to send an aspect of each deity to the domain of Living in order to renew belief in their true selves, rather than the selves that Lion and his followers had been spreading.
Lion remained adamant for a long time that he would not do this. He, in all his darkened glory, had grown embellished in his beliefs and saw himself as the one true god over his old friends. It wasn't until the forest clans borne a cat with a striking resemblance to a lion that he began to consider their proposition. This cat, Lionkit (later Lionheart), became his favorite, a living reminder of his old glory. He strove to become like this cat as the cat grew and became an intelligent and wise adult, and was proud to witness him become a deputy in his clan. Unfortunately, he was killed defending his clan in a traitorous rally, and upon joining the domain of Good, Lionheart was given a choice: Become Lion's messenger, or remain on the lower levels of Good, bordering Mediocrity for the rest of his afterlife.
Lionheart, shocked but happy to receive the blessing of being Lion's messenger, accepted the less-than-optimal ultimatum, and joined Lion. Slowly but surely, he worked with Frecklewish and Starlight (Tigress's messenger) to get Lion to agree, and by the time the legendary Firestar had kits with Sandstorm, they convinced him to send a prophecy - The prophecy of the Three - to the domain of the living. The three - Hollyleaf (Tigress), Lionblaze (Lion), and Jayfeather (Leopard) - would be their aspects in the domain of the Living until death, in which they would become advisors to the gods.
It was the three's job to restore faith and content in the gods, and they would have to start by fixing the structure of the clans. The plan was for the main one of the trio to be Holly(Snow)leaf - An albino tom (later molly) with spiky fur and red eyes - to be Tigress's mortal self, and to spread the word that things must be changed if everyone is to survive in sanctity and peace. (Hollow)Lionblaze, a near-melonistic molly (later tom) with red undertones, would show that Lion is not the perfect deity everyone assumed him to be. And finally, Jay(Amber)feather, a golden tabby tom (later molly) with unusual spots, would be there to represent the anger Leopard felt for the mistreatment of cats by Lion and Tigress.
Upon their maturing, and the discovery of their heritage, things went horribly against the plan. Hollyleaf killed Ashfur, and then revealed Leafpool's secret to the whole of the clans. (S)He was unable to be contacted anymore, as the last cat (s)he was seen with was Sol, and Tigress began to grow ill. She soon resurfaced, now going by Snowleaf and using she/her pronouns, and everyone was so relieved that they sent down their messengers to follow her for a little bit. During this time, Snowleaf and Ivypaw became friends, and they began talking about how to change the code and the clans...
... And so, the deities recalled their beloved messengers, and the world breathed a sigh of relief. The prophecy would be fulfilled.
#swiftpaw's wish#warrior cats#swiftstar au#hollyleaf#warriors god concept#as an aside: their real names are mentioned but not used because they cannot properly translate these names into catspeak.#also the threes' appearances are relevant to the appearances of the deities.#yes dove is scrapped as a member of the three for a reason.

it’s been a hot minute since ive read warrior cats so i just wanted to ask what the relationship between ferncloud and brightheart is? and in turn the general premise of your coming surrounding them? im really interested!!
It has been a hot minute since i've touched a book too, anybody is free to correct me but. In canon, they really just were apprentices at the same time.
If you wana pepe silvia it up, it should be noted that the books however included that:
Fernpaw and Ashpaw's mother is killed by the dogs
Swiftpaw would invite Fernpaw (and Ashpaw) to find out what's been out there hunting down Thunderclanners (It should be stated that Swiftpaw, I think, did this for his Warrior name and wanted support. I don't know if there was ever any mentioned other noble cause on saving his Clan or specifically his apprentice denmates)
Brightpaw and Swiftpaw leave, that whole tragedy happens.
Fernpaw is the one to confess to Fireheart (and Cloudtail, I think?) about where the missing Swiftpaw and Brightpaw's whereabouts are. Which, theoretically helps Brightpaw be found in time.
The book never really shows them interacting otherwise, as far as I can remember, but Ferncloud and Brightheart also most likely shared time in the nursery together since they have kittens around the same era... which you never see because that's in between The Prophecies Begin and The New Prophecy, and Whitepaw is an apprentice by then.
Basically I'm making mountains over underdeveloped molehills over side characters, but I think with what's given, there's a lot of emotional exploration to be had over it, while still feeling in-line with canon!
I should say as well, I was all particularly inspired by this because a couple of Warriors videos ('Danse Macabre', 'No one, Everyone, Your mama') both included a shot of Fernpaw watching them leave in the night. It's such a simple thing to include, but there's a lot of weight to seeing your friends the very moment they leave to go on a suicide mission and one of them never coming back! What would have happened if you broke their trust and just told on them to not leave! Is it your fault they died!?
Soooo with all that being said, and my absolute hunger for just... more interpersonal relationships between characters in Warriors (which they fail me for even the main characters), there's a lot of strong potential in this.
With my take on Brightheart and Ferncloud, I just see them as really good or bonded friends who grew up together. They go through a lot through shared trauma, and based on the tidbits of personality given for both of them, I think they also would get along. Fernpaw being timid, Brightpaw being caring for others. In my comic I've added a bit to also imply Brightheart agreed to go with Swiftpaw not only to support him but to do it for Fernpaw/Ashpaw as well. I hesitate to put any further label on it since... well, their children get together romantically so it would add to the tangle of bloodlines, but I def can see it as how some childhood friends have sibling bonds.
For the comic... you will have to see exactly what happens! It's short, chill. Mostly conversational, just like the Shrewpaw/Ferncloud one but i hope it still hits emotional beats. I think something just fun to chew on while I make it is... How would it feel to watch your friends try hunt something that killed your mother, and only one survives, coming out of it extremely shaken. What would seeing her again feel like.
Perhaps I have talked to much, but I actually planned to do an extension of this comic where it timeskips further on where all the apprentices, grown up, visit Swiftpaw's grave.... but I decided against this because. 1. This is already a lot of work to do this many pages. 2. It's gonna be pretty long already, and I do not like making extremely long posts on tumblr. 3. I found a different way to end the comic I preferred.
Here's the script. Perhaps maybe I'll touch on it another while but admittedly after this I may be tired of exploring the Dog Incident for a bit.
Thank you for being so kind and inquiring! It's very fun, I enjoyed explaining this.

The Genetic Journey of Two Sisters: an Analysis of ThunderClan’s Gene Pool
Flashnose and Daisytoe made their debut in Goosefeather’s Curse, and are revealed to be sisters born to unknown parents. Although these sisters fade into the rest of ThunderClan’s old history, their genetics encompass the entirety of ThunderClan, bleeding into two other Clans. Here is an analysis of their profound genetic impact, starting with Flashnose. (Cats who’s names are red have kits)
Flashnose + unknown tom have a single daughter together: Swiftbreeze. Later in life, Swiftbreeze and Adderfang have five children: Leopardfoot, Patchpelt, Redtail, Spottedleaf, and Willowpelt. Leopardfoot and Pinestar have Tigerstar, Mistkit, and Nightkit. Patchpelt and Goldenflower have Swiftpaw & Lynxkit, while with Robinwing, he has Longtail. Willowpelt, with unknown toms, have Darkstripe & Graystripe. With Whitestorm, she has Sorreltail, Rainwhisker, and Sootfur.
→ Tigerstar and Goldenflower have Brambleclaw and Tawnypelt, and with Sasha, Tadpole, Hawkfrost and Mothwing. Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight have Sparkpelt, Alderheart, Dandelionkit, and Juniperkit. Sparkpelt and Larksong have Nightheart, Finchlight, and Flickerkit. Tawnypelt and Rowanclaw have Tigerstar II, Dawnpelt, and Flametail. Tigerstar II and Dovewing have Lightleap, Shadowsight, Pouncestep, Birchpaw, and Rowankit, while Dawnpelt and Crowfrost have Strikestone, Sleekwhisker, and Juniperclaw.
→ Graystripe and Silverstream have Feathertail and Stormfur, and with Millie, he also fathers Briarlight, Blossomfall, and Bumblestripe. Stormfur and Brook have Pine that Clings to Rock, Lark that Sings at Dawn, Feather of Flying Hawk, and Breeze that Rustles the Leaves. Blossomfall and Thornclaw have Stemleaf, Shellfur, Plumstone, and Eaglewing. Stemleaf and Spotfur have Stempaw, Graypaw, and Bristlepaw.
→ Sorreltail and Brackenfur have Cinderheart, Poppyfrost, Honeyfern, Molepaw, Lilyheart, and Seedpaw. Cinderheart and Lionblaze have Fernsong, Sorrelstripe, Hollytuft, Spotfur, Snaptooth, and Flywhisker. Fernsong and Ivypool have Thriftear, Flipclaw, and Bristlefrost. Sorrelstripe and Dewnose have Bayshine and Myrtlebloom. Spotfur, as previously mentioned has Stempaw, Graypaw, and Bristlepaw with Stemleaf. Thriftear and Bayshine have Moonpaw.
→ Poppyfrost and Berrynose have Cherryfall and Molewhisker.
→ Lilyheart and Snowbush have Larksong, Honeyfur, and Leafshade. As previously mentioned, Larksong and Sparkpelt have Nightheart, Finchlight, and Flickerkit.
This wraps up Flashnose’s genetic line, moving us into Daisytoe’s genetic line.
Daisytoe and Rooktail had Moonflower and Goosefeather. Moonflower and Stormtail had Bluestar and Snowfur. Bluestar and Oakheart had Mistystar, Stonefur, and Mosskit. Mistystar and Blackclaw had Reedwhisker, Primrosepaw, Pikepaw, and Perchkit. Snowfur and Thistleclaw had Whitestorm. Whitestorm and Brindleface had Ferncloud, Ashfur, Elderkit, and Tulipkit. With Willowpelt, he also had Sorreltail, Rainwhisker, and Sootfur. Ferncloud and Dustpelt had Spiderleg, Shrewpaw, Birchfall, Larchkit, Hollykit, Foxleap, and Icecloud. Spiderleg and Daisy had Toadstep and Rosepetal. Birchfall and Whitewing had Dovewing and Ivypool, who’s mates & kits were previously mentioned.
Although Daisytoe and Flashnose’s bloodlines began separately, they converge at certain points (i.e. Whitestorm x Willowpelt, Tigerstar II x Dovewing) to form an extensive genetic pool that is responsible for 30/46= 65% of the current ThunderClan population (as of Wind) & 6/30= 20% of the current ShadowClan population. Holy shit.
I’d add Robinwing x Fuzzypelt as an honorable mention, but given the fact that their son (Dustpelt) and their granddaughter (Ferncloud) have kits, their line merges with Daisytoe’s since her great-grandson is Whitestorm, who’s also Ferncloud’s father. Alternatively, we could focus on Frostfur, but since both of her sons took mates from Flashnose’s genetic line, their entire family line is one with Daisytoe & Flashnose’s.
Times like this make me feel very fortunate that certain information was retconned. If the fact that Redtail & Brindleface had Sandstorm remained canon, this would make Squirrelstar, Leafpool, Lionblaze, Jayfeather, and Hollyleaf all related to Flashnose. Which raises that ThunderClan percentage from 65% to 76%. This would also make Lionblaze and Cinderheart related.
Seeing how much ThunderClan grew from these pair of sisters is always a “wow” moment for me. Their spirits have likely faded from StarClan’s ranks, but I can’t help but wonder if they ever looked down on their descendants and felt proud of how big their families have grown.
I’ve never seen the exact percentages before that’s absolutely wild. It’s insane how these one off characters that no fan would really remember otherwise, let alone remember they are sisters, have ultimately become the root of most of the current ThunderClan incest problems.

i made full "canon" allegiances for the start of fire and ice: google doc link
this is a part of a series im doing where i've made the full allegiances for the first book of every arc in order. now i'm making allegiances for other main series books
here is the masterpost for all the allegiances
"canon" is in quotations because a lot of this is guesswork about who logically would be around at that point in time, but aren't listed in the allegiances or mentioned in the book
this is mainly meant to be a resource for fanworks
general stuff that's still the same as last time:
wiki pages are linked to character's names
med cat = cleric
characters are listed by age. where there are no concrete ages, i make my best guess
tc is the only clan without a "kit" rank as all kits born into or taken into the clan have known parents
this is where things start to get pretty messy due to the sheer number of prequel cats i need to make decisions about, pretty much entirely in rc and sc. i'll provide insight into why the ones i have listed are still around as these prequel cats do just tend to randomly fall off the timeline with no explanation or canonical deaths
thunderclan:
cinderkit and brackenkit are listed as kits instead of apprentices bc they are not apprenticed until like 100 pages in
swiftpaw is still listed as an apprentice bc he is apprenticed in like the first chapter
ashkit, fernkit, and tulipkit are listed. elderkit is already dead and tulipkit dies this book
shadowclan:
they lose a LOT of cats from the previous allegiances due to their last mentioned appearances being at the end of yellowfang's secret and not a lot of them reappearing in exile from shadowclan or tigerclaw's fury
whitepaw/whitethroat - not mentioned until rising storm, but needs to be a warrior by then. i made him a kit in the itw allegiances and thus now he's an apprentice
applepaw/applefur and ratpaw/ratscar - not mentioned until tigerclaw's fury but need to be warriors by then. i made them kits in the itw allegiances and thus they are now apprentices
brightflower, crowtail, archeye, featherstorm, hollyflower - alive and rejoined shadowclan's camps at the end of exile from shadowclan
volewhisper - alive and rejoined shadowclan's camp at the end of exile from shadowclan, but specifically needs to die before blackfoot returns due to continuity issues with blackfoot's reckoning
ashheart - not mentioned or listed in tpb, but alive bc she needs to make semi-canon kits with cinderfur in rising storm
scorchwind - not mentioned or listed in tpb, but alive bc he needs to make rowanstar and cedarheart with darkflower
rowanberry, deerfoot, flintfang, and fernshade - are in tigerclaw's fury
wolfstep - is mentioned to still be alive when tigerclaw first comes to shadowclan in blackfoot's reckoning
riverclan:
mistyfoot - reedwhisker is not listed because i've gone with the timeline given in tnp for him. mistyfoot's other kits are listed
mosspelt - listed as a warrior instead of an expecting queen as her and silverstream's kits need to be close enough in age for her to feed/foster them, and graystripe and silverstream haven't even met yet
mallowtail and birdsong - they are still around after shadepelt and heavystep receive their full names
frogleap - he dies later
grasswhisker, shimmerpelt, lakeshine, cedarpelt, piketooth, and timberfur - mentioned to be alive after the flood that kills frogleap
beetlenose, ottersplash, sedgecreek, voleclaw, and vixenleap - mentioned to join tigerclan and/or lionclan, so they are safe for the entirely of tpb
rippleclaw and emberdawn - are at nightpelt's first gathering as a leader
skyheart and reedtail - need to make kits together in mothwing's secret, so they are safe for the entirety of tpb
windclan:
thrushwing - again, the canonnity of her character is questionable, but windclan needs more she-cats. there's also an unnamed non-morningflower tortoiseshell mentioned a couple times and i think she works fine to fill in that vague role
morningflower - the way that she and gorsekit are described make it sound like she gave birth like the day before fireheart and graystripe showed up, so she is tagged with (expecting kits)
tawnykit/tawnyfur - an apprentice in rising storm and a warrior in a dangerous path, so she is likely a kit around this time
eaglekit (ashfoot's kit) - not listed bc i think they have died
elders - there are about 5 unnamed elders described while windclan is crossing the road. the only specific elders that have strong cases to be around are crowfur (he is in a forest of secrets) and cloudrunner (he is gorsepaw's father)
i have them listed under rogues and loners, but sometime during this book it's likely that stagleap and sorrelshine rejoin windclan after the clan returns to their territory
cats outside clans:
shadowclan exiles get their own group
stagleap (wc) and sorrelshine are listed here
princess is listed as (expecting kits) as cloudtail has not been born yet

Now I'm curious, I need to know how many bloodlines are dead, like Bluestar's is just tragic
WELL, it's a question without a straight answer. Bluestar's bloodline isn't "dead" but it's not "alive" either. It's a secret third thing. I'm calling it Schrodinger's Bloodline in my head.
In RiverClan, ShadowClan, and WindClan, there's a "missing generation" gap in-between TPB and TNP where a ton of "Orphan Warriors" suddenly appear. For a series that's hypothetically supposed to have legacy as a major theme, in practice, only ThunderClan is allowed to remember their grandparents lmao. So that means that Reedwhisker COULD have had children... but we don't know.
The only direct lines that cross that Missing Generation Gap we have tracked outside of Thunder and Sky are;
The Palebird Line (Tallstar, Onestar, Heathertail)
The Hickorynose Line (Deadfoot, Sorrelshine, Whitetail. Completely absorbed by the Palebird line)
The Scorchwind Line (Rowanstar)
So, any other non-ThunderClan family tree that you can think of is "gone", or more accurately, in the Schrodinger's Bloodline box. Yellowfang's entire family is gone. Blackstar's family is gone. Crookedstar's family is gone.
The TRULY DEAD lines in Warrior Cats are within SkyClan and ThunderClan. And by the way it's INSANE how inbred SkyClan, The Kittypet Guys, became in less than 3 generations. It's AWFUL.
This is because the writers have a really bad habit of "quantity over quality" in terms of which cats they choose to "breed." They'll pick "super parents" in a generation, essentially, have them produce 4 - 7 kittens, and then choose 3 of them to become the parents of the next generation. Clovertail, Snowbird, Robinwing, Swiftbreeze... and basically they irrevocably fuck up the genetic diversity completely.
(and then they forget they did it and ignore their own shitty tree, because if they didn't, they would completely prevent shipping within several generations. Dustpelt being Ferncloud's uncle, Spottedleaf being Tigerclaw's aunt, Brightheart and Swiftpaw being 1st cousins, Thrushpelt being Thistleclaw's brother, all things the writers completely forget... if you treat canon like scripture, you'll eat yourself alive.)
But anyway, tangents aside, lines that are entirely dead within ThunderClan;
Thrushpelt, Dappletail. This little branch is dead.
Sunstar's line is dead
One-Eye's kits, Runningwind and Mousefur, had none of their own
Doestar's line is dead
Not to mention the orphan warriors. Hollypelt, Rockfall, Weedwhisker...
So, in a nutshell, the list of "living" lines is shorter than the list of 'dead' lines. This is because the lines in most side clans aren't tracked, and in Thunder and Sky, bloodlines bunch up through genetic bottlenecks like Adderswift/Robinfuzzy/Clovertail.
#bone babble#warrior cats family tree#I see folks talking about how they don't really care if there's orphan warriors but like... I do#Because what I LIKE about warriors is its unique premise#Following characters that grow up quickly and following several generations#It doesn't use this concept very well (and I've done the homework to prove it) but in theory?#there is nothing else like it.#There's no other series like WC#And I think they've dropped the ball in not defining some Families/Nests/Crests what have you and talking about their unique problems#Something you can see me trying to fix with Whitedragon and the Houndstar Line#The Firekin shouldn't be the only family out here who's allowed to talk about legacy!!#And hell even the Tigerkin have gotten over it aside from offhanded laughter at Leafstar for a social faux pas

Let's talk about Conflict Names.
If you've scrolled the Warriors Wiki, you've probably seen this message at least once.
And in a universe FULL of name combinations and new prefixes and suffixes being added all the time, it's... Odd. How do names like Robinwing and Seedpelt get used so many times? Why are there 2 Nightstar's now? WHY ARE THERE 3 BIRCHSTARS AND 3 DARKSTARS?
Well, I think it would be nice to change that. In-Universe, all apprentices still go to the Moonstone/Moonpool to foster a connection with Starclan. Starclan will show the leader who goes with them all the name "slots" of the cats who have come before.
Sometimes, in an extremely rare circumstance, there have been multiple cats with the same name (this is more... easter egg for wcr/comedic effect; but lore-wise, Starclan will often not provide the names of Dark Forest cats in an attempt to "erase" them), but it can never be a leader. There cannot be 2 Firestar's, ever. A Star cannot lead if it is being outshone by another.
Where the fun lies, is that sometimes, a leader will give up their leader name in Starclan, freeing up that slot. Heatherstar gave up hers to go back to being Heatherstep, as she did not enjoy being leader. Heatherstar would now be a valid name again. Also, the ancient 2 word names (Sky Petal, Cloud Spots, Blue Whisker, Briar Bloom) do not take up slots. Post-mortem names, such as Swiftpaw being named Swiftclaw, or Mapleshade's kits, also do not take up slots.
During Tigerheart's Light, Starclan ran into a bit of a pickle. Tigerheart was going to become Leader, but there has been a Tigerstar in history who did not give up his name when he went to the Dark Forest. But... His spirit had faded away! But... The memory of him hasn't...
When they asked Tigerheart "Do you wish to be Tigerstar?" What Tigerheart WANTED to say was:
"Sure. It sounds like a good name. Though I have some bad memories with it too, and my relationship with my mother is really strained now because of it, I'm also not sure of the Clans will like having another Tigerstar around. Maybe it's not such a good idea."
All he managed to get out was "Sure. It sounds like a good name-" before Starclan slapped the title onto him without a second thought.
With that MAJOR issue out of the way, let's get to the renaming of cats! Note: Renames are not done on basis of who came first, but which one I like better for the cat. I think Frecklewish fits the Thunderclan cat more than the Skyclan one.
Note: This post is not complete and was only posted due to the Tumblr app being trash. I will repeatedly reblog this with more names added. Thank you.
Thunderclan
Rabbitleap (TC) is now named Rabbitsong
Beechfur (TC) is now named Beechtuft.
Seedpelt (Mapleshade's Vengeance) has now been somewhat fused with Seedpelt (Pinestar's Choice). Now a molly whose fur is streaked gray with age, and her name is Seedwhisker.
Seedpelt (Pinestar's Choice) has been partially fused, as seen above, but the leftover cat (ew) has been named Dragonflypelt.
Seedpelt (FQ) is THE Seedpelt. Seedpaw is almost named Seedpelt as well (that's that little joke I mentioned, but also a sign that Bramblestar's got NO idea what he's doing)
Owlstar (SoTC) and Owlstar (CoTC) have been fused, the way they should have been.
Cloudberry (TC) is now Splashberry.
Shadowclan
Applefur (TF) is now named Applefang.
Ashfur (ShC) is now given the very simple Honor Title Ashclaw by Nightstar, and comes out of retirement.
Marshscar now becomes Marshstar to avoid a future Conflict Name with Marshkit, who will become Marshscar.
Mudclaw (ShC) is now named Mudstep.
Buster, who used to be Rippletail, is now named... Well he still becomes Buster, but BEFORE that he's named Droptail. Pun.
Hollystar has been renamed Birdstar, Jagged Peak and Rainswept Flower's daughter.
Riverclan
Shadepelt (AVoS) is now named Shadenose, and is the sister of Foxnose and an OC, Bumblenose.
Mintfur (RC) is now Mintwhisker, named after Mintclaw (Silverpaw TPB) a Rebel who was killed fighting against Tigerclan alongside his mothers Waterfern and Tangleburr.
Silverpaw (BOTC) is now in Windclan, as they need more padding, and OOTS Riverclan has enough apprentices. Their name is now Streampaw, and they become Streamsong. They are the offspring of Rustlewish, who adopted them from Riverclan, hence the name.
Applefrost and Appleshine actually had their names swapped. Appleshine is now the daughter of Appledusk and Reedshine. Applefrost is now Breezpelt and Heathertail's daughter.
Nightstar (RC) now never becomes leader, as Riverstar outlives her during Riverstar's Life towards the end. She and Nightheart (Ro) are now the same cat. She was inspired by a strange cat named Nightheart and made her name Night Heart.
Milkfur (YS) is now named Milkpatch, both after her mother and the slowly growing white patches in her fur. Her brother is named Troutfin (the name she was mistakenly given in the preview for Yellowfang's Secret) and he gave Hailstar a life!
Windclan
Thrushpelt (WC) is now not only a girl, but this lady WAS named Thrushpelt and earned the title Thrushleaf for her handling of the epidemic caused by sick rabbits.
Gorsetail (TNP) is now named Eveningtail.
Wrenflight (WC) does start out as Wrenflight, but after her actions supporting The Rebels against Tigerstar, helping Tangleburr and Waterfern free prisoners at risk of her own life, Tallstar renamed her Wrensky, freeing up the Wrenflight slot for the Skyclan one.
Birchstar (WC) is now Warblerstar, she is an ancestor to Onestar through his grandfather, Woollytail.
Skyclan
Frecklewish (SkC) is now named Freckleshine.
Birchstar (SkC) is still Birchstar, but stepped down at his death, going back to being just Birch, the same one in DOTC. The second leader of Skyclan. Birchstar (RC) is now the definitive Birchstar.
Rainfur (SkC) is now Rainyfur, his old name having been Rainy, because "oh it's just a coincidence his name was exactly the same as a Clan name" is a pathetic cop-out.
Unknown Clan
Robinwing (SkC) is now Robintail, after her short, fluffy tail.
Emberdawn (TBC) is still Emberdawn... Because no one remembers her, and Starclan doesn't care much about names that aren't attached to it, meaning that TECHNICALLY, there could be another Houndleap, Emberdawn is not in the Dark Forest, but she is also not in Starclan. Her horror story will be revealed eventually, still working on the finer details.

wow so many things were different in the graphic novel adaptation of fire and ice
the entire battle with riverclan after fireheart and graystripe trespass on their territory is glossed over, and its implied it didn’t even really happen, just that they were chased off. this means whiteclaw isn’t thrown over the gorge by graystripe (meaning leopardfur doesn’t have a valid reason to hate him) and fireheart doesn’t save sandpaw from falling over the gorge.
barkface never receives the prophecy/warning about the pink cloud. i’m using this as further proof that whiteclaw didn’t die until proven otherwise
cinderpaw, brackenpaw and swiftpaw are all apprenticed at the same time. brightkit hasn’t even been seen so far.
since fireheart meets princess in the first book instead of smudge, him and cinderpaw don’t chase her off thinking she’s a strange cat. in fact princess doesn’t show up at all in fire and ice.
fireheart doesn’t follow graystripe when he leaves camp to meet with silverstream, so he never gets to meet silverstream again before they meet in battle in windclan camp.
fireheart also doesn’t fight graystripe because he’s sick and tired of keeping his secret for him and taking on all of his responsibilities.
bluestar doesn’t catch greencough and therefore doesn’t lose a life.
cinderpaw doesn’t get hit by a car yet. the whole plot line about tigerclaw trying to lure bluestar out to the thunderpath is entirely skipped over.
because princess isn’t seen or mentioned in this adaptation of fire and ice, fireheart doesn’t get to know that she’s pregnant and doesn’t get to take cloudkit into the clan with him yet.
brindleface isn’t mentioned to have had her kits, though they’re probably saving this for when they introduce cloudkit.
there are no accusations of trespassing at the gathering because of brokenstar and his lackeys trying to find a place to live. also brokenstar isn’t defeated and taken as prison in this book. he isn’t mentioned in fire and ice at all besides graystripe telling ravenpaw he killed his own father. the only gathering shown is the one that takes place before windclan is returned home.
spottedleaf doesn’t give fireheart a warning that one of his clan mates is untrustworthy, which would’ve lead to fireheart suspecting graystripe for some reason. over all the tension between fireheart and graystripe in this book has been significantly reduced.
dustpaw and sandpaw don’t become warriors yet.
instead of ending with fireheart and graystripe making up (which still happens it’s just not the end of the book), there’s an additional scene where fireheart and the others return to camp and cinderpaw excitedly asks him if they won. obviously this doesn’t happen in the original book because cinderpaw was recovering in the medicine den at the time.

New book binge complete! I'll spare you the thousands screenshots of Tigerclaw I took to share on the live-reading channel of my friend group Discord server and get straight to the review here:
I think the graphic novel was a fantastic adaptation. The graphic novel medium conveyed much better than Erin Hunter's prose all those little details of cat mannerisms and expressions that I think really aided in conveying the story so much better. It really helps that the artists are clearly incredibly well-versed in the visual language of comics and are masterful in packing as much information as possible in every panel.
It also helped a lot to give it all a sense of geography and environment which, admittedly, is more of a me problem because I have a lot of trouble parsing out environmental descriptions from text. I really liked that one panel showing a bird's-eye view of ThunderClan camp and the full page spread that served as a dual purpose ThunderClan territory map and as a way to montage through Firepaw's tour of the territory. They're my absolute favorite panels.
The book skews heavily towards Into the Wild over Fire and Ice. About 70% of the book is Into the Wild. I personally feel it's completely fine to truncate Fire and Ice like that because it's a forgettable book TBH. The Prophecies Begin doesn't get good until Forest of Secrets anyway. But the artists did say here on Tumblr that they have plans to add the cut content back in for the second graphic novel, so that's something to look out for.
There's also the little signs this adaptation may be being approached more as a reboot/alternate continuity. Most significantly is how Swiftpaw and Lynxkit seem to have been turned into Frostfur's kits in place of Brightheart and Thornclaw. Presumably this is a way to clean up the family tree and it leaves me intrigued as to what happens to those two in future.
Also there's a scene that's apparently an addition but I don't remember TPB well enough to really tell: Sandpaw apologizing to Fireheart for her bullying of him. I only know this is presumably an addition because of a friend who mentioned it being one of the changes they always want to see in fanworks in order to sell the FireSand relationship better. Once again, encouraging sign that if this moves forward this may result in more significant rewrites later on.
Also, although it's only a few panels, the early introduction of Princess alongside Smudge and the shuffling of her further appearances into the Into the Wild section are also very welcome changes. It really helps sell these two as having a close sibling bond and it will really help sell Cloudkit's hand-off once we get to that part. I think Princess's part in this whole plot is part of what was cut in Fire and Ice, but I think we will for sure revisit it considering Cloudkit is coming and with what we already got in the TPB section it makes up for it.
Overall, I really liked it! Glowing recommendation from me.

SWIFTPAW
He has a more important role than canon here. Not only as Tigerstar's eldest son but as an incredibly influential spirit and guide within SkyClan.
His death was part of his destiny according to spirits beyond StarClan. For the Three to be born, he must die. Moments before his death by the dogs, ancient spirits spoke to Swiftpaw warning him that he would die but must go down protecting Brightpaw. Because if his sacrifice he was rewarded in Silverpelt with knowledge and power that made him even more influentual than some of the medicine cat and leader spirits.
Because of his death, this allowed Brightpaw to carry on living and become mates with Cloudtail. Eventually their daughter was born as the final member of the three. For Sol to be defeated, the Three must be born
Some of his influence allows him to appear to the Three in their living world. Although he is only able to appear and be heard by Dovepaw when she actively searches for his prescence at the Moonstone.
She finds out Swiftpaw's story when her mother eventually tells her about him after hearing his name mentioned in the elder's den. Swiftpaw becomes a personal guide to Dovepaw, he is rebellious and brash, often providing her instructions not on the orders of other spirits. He criticises her inexperience and her affection for Tigerheart. Ultimately he does mean well, driving her to not give up and to use her powers to protect others. However perhaps his determination comes from a place of desperation, after all in order for the clans to stand a chance against Sol, Swiftpaw's destiny was to die, he wants to make surw he died for something.
He aids the Three as a guide alongside Feathertail who was fated to die in similar way, to protect Crowpaw and Leafpaw, making sure they would get together and that Jayfeather and Lionblaze were born. They serve as interpreters between the almost silent Silverpelt and the Three. Swiftpaw often finds himself butting heads with Jayfeather who prefers to use his intelligence, and links with the spiritual world to build up a plan to defeat Sol rather than infiltraiting the Sun Troop in the living world and shutting them down as fast as possible

Ohhhhhhhh very good chapter dndjfjskakdbs
So Mernantha was already a spirit(?) while a part of the Clans? Or I took it she was still a regular member of the Clan, but Suriin I think mentioned something of her turning into petals. What an interesting Clanmate to have nonetheless.
Also!!! Who was Brightpaw and Snowpaw blessed by? I figure at least one of them was Rohkar since he was mentioned by Brightpaw. I’m torn on Bright being Rohkar or maybe Suriin tbh. Rohkar since that was also who blessed Swiftpaw and wel… y’know. But Snowpaw also seems like he’d get Rohkar tbh.
And one error I think I noticed- Ashkit is referred to as Ashpaw when Ravenwing is telling them about how Mernantha mocked Horoa and Suriin.
AND LAST THING- some dark humor from One-eye there, is she alright?
Firstly, thank you for noticing that error and alerting me. Just fixed it on the chapter both here and on AO3!
As for the rest:
Mernatha, like most folklore characters in the Clans, has a shaky origin that the Clans just gloss over for convenience in storytelling. She is simultaneously originally just a normal warrior and has always been a magical spirit. Both are accepted and alter between stories, even told by the same orator. Whether she was once a regular mortal whose feats and personality eventually evolved into legend or she's much older than that, who knows. She's Mernatha now! That's all we need to know. The important part is to keep her cunning and merriment in the story.
Brightpaw was blessed by Suriin, and Snowpaw by Rokhar!
One-eye's doing about as well as a feral cat her age can be. She just likes to make jokes about how close she is to death and how she's so frail and skinny.

To be honest, I never realized that Willowpelt and all her siblings had such interesting, in-depth stories if you took the time to look at them and make your own inferences from them.
Willowpelt herself and her relationship with her kits, Leopardfoot relationship with Pinestar and being the mother of Tigerstar, Patchpelt and the multiple relationships he's had, Spottedleaf if you decide to rewrite her story to a more respectful story reflecting on hard, but sadly realistic situation that accused in her life, and Redtail persisting to improve himself and rise through the ranks in his life before being killed by his own nephew.
Not to mention the kits of these siblings, like the close bond Tigerstar, Darkstripe, and Longtail had with each other, or how Longtail was close with his half-brother, Swiftpaw, before Tigerstar indirectly killed his cousin.
Also, Darkstripe nearly kills his own half-sister, causing not only his own family pain but probably also devastating Longtail in the process after what happened to Swiftpaw, before he was killed by his own half-brother, Graystripe.
Tigerstar also had an interesting upbringing with his grandfather, and father being Thunderclan's leaders before Pinestar left, leaving behind Tigerstar and his mother. He also had an older cat constantly being paranoid about him (not trying to shit on Goosefeather, just stating a fact), and the loss of his siblings. Also, the only father figure in his life was a bad person, making Tigerstar nearly kill a cat at some point.
And then he continues with his actions by taking advantage of his kits while both dead and alive. We all already know about Tigerstar's dictatorship and what did to get there, so I'll skip all that, but all of that info is still important.
He leads Hawkfrost to help him continue his selfish goals, and during his time alive, he manipulated his own sister, which traumatized her. Not to mention Tigerstar manipulated his grandson to train in the Dark Forest.
Bramblestar also later abuses his mate Squirrelflight and isn't that nice of a cat later down the line after being a pretty good person in the previous books.
In the end, this family faces generations having trauma and while some cats are able to move on and live normal lives like Sorreltail, Rainwhisker, Sorreltail, Graystripe, and nicely Tawnypelt, it's sad to see how it still affects them later on.
Damn, this entire family needs some therapy.
#warrior cats#warriors#tigerstar#bramblestar#willowpelt#patchpelt#redtail#darkstripe#longtail#wc#this family needs therapy right now!#i love analyzing characters nobody really remembers#i mean everyone already knows tigerstar and his clones but no one really mentions how complicated and deep his story goes#same goes for the rest of his family#longtail had to lose almost his entire family similar to how willowpelt was the last cat out of her family to live
