“Flower Day?” Mark asked. “I don’t really own any shirts for it though.”

You rolled your eyes. “Mark Lee how are you even class president?” Next week was scheduled to be homecoming week, meaning each day was a specific dress up day. You got pretty into school dress up days, so seeing your friend/senior class president being so carefree about it was just-

“Did you forget you planned these things out? Like what do you even do at these meetings?” You nag at him, making him shrug back.

“I just sign my name on everything- hey HEY! I’m kidding-” he giggles, bracing himself as you prepare to swat at him.

“You know what, what are you doing for Flower Day? I’ll just match with you.” He suggests, in a now panicked tone, reaching for your hands to block you again.

You raise your eyebrow, a thought forming in your head.

“Yeah?” A smile growing on your face.

“Yeah…? Now I’m a little scared…”

“Ok at least this isn’t as bad as I thought.” Mark mutters as you dig around your makeup stuff for what you’re looking for.

You called Mark the morning of to swing by your place so you could do some pretty makeup on him. You’d been practicing how to draw flowers for a while and now you had someone to practice on (other than yourself). To be honest, you were pretty excited that Mark was letting you do this for him.

“Do you have any preference to colors?” You ask, pulling out the different color liners to show him.

“Honestly no? Do what you gotta do.” Mark giggles as he shuts his eyes tightly. You smile at his cute scrunched up face as you flick his shoulder, making his eyes open back up.

“You have to relax your face, dummy. I can’t work on you with your face all tense like this.” You tell him. He nods back at your order, trying his best to give you a neutral face so you could begin your work.

Seeing Mark’s face up close like this, you can’t help but take in his rather handsome features. His pretty lashes, his sharp jawline, the slope of his nose. Your eyes trail down to his cupids bow and his lips.

You take a deep breath, intending to not think about pressing your lips against your friend’s lips. You wonder how soft they’d feel. You shake your head at that last thought.

Trying to come back to the task at hand, you drag the brush along Mark’s cheekbone, beginning with detailing the petals, adding small spots here and there.

As you attempt to draw more flora, you use the side of your index finger to gently lift Mark’s chin. His eyes flutter open at the movement, his lips part slightly. He hadn’t realized how close your face was to him until this moment, when you were just a short breath away of distance.

His head also started swirling with thoughts. Thoughts about what it would be like to press his lips against yours. What would your lipstick taste like? Would you make cute noises when your lips touched?

“All good?” You ask, now noticing the distance between you two as well. You swallow hard when you see Mark glance at your lips.

“Yeah, you’re really gentle, I barely felt you putting anything on my face.” He chuckles, trying to push down his previous thoughts. “Can I see what you’ve done so far?”

You nod, stepping away to let Mark lean over your vanity table to look at the small flowers adorning his cheeks like freckles. He could also see his cheeks red in the reflection of the mirror, not due to blush, but due to his previous thoughts about you.

We did it guys! Minthara is in the top 100 most mentioned video game characters on Tumblr, sitting comfortably at rank 55!

With Astarion at rank 1 (cause of course), Gale at 5, Shadowheart at 6, Karlach at 8, Lae'zel at 9, Wyll at 12, Halsin at 16, Tav at 19, Gortash at 47, and The Dark Urge at 67. Baldur's Gate 3 is also the most talked about video game on this platform, as well as the 6th most talked about thing on all of Tumblr!

I wish Minthara was higher, but you know what, I'm happy she's on there at all! It is also interesting that she ranks higher than Durge and that Durge is that low on the list. It's also pretty interesting that there is such a discrepancy between Durge and Gortash as Durgetash is also the 67th most talked about ship on the platform. It is quite an achievement that our favorite drow is even on that list at all.

It is all just making me think back to some of the more dejecting AO3 statistics with Minthara almost being a blip, practically a statistical outlier in some ways. Even some insignificant side characters got more attention and adoration than her, or had numbers that would compare to her. But Tumblr is a much bigger platform than AO3, containing a much wider array of topics (including fanfics). So for Baldur's Gate 3 and Minthara to stand out that much is really saying something! Reading these statistics on Tumblr does go to show that one platform does not represent the entire fandom and that AO3 is only a piece of the picture.

so i completed my first ever fan binding, everything from start to finish - barring writing the fic myself - and i wanted to share the results!!

the fic is the certain things we lack by @deanpendragon on ao3 (it’s an incredible fic, if you haven’t read it already, you really really really should!!)

if anyone wants to bind their own copy using the typeset i made, i’ve put a fully formatted and print-ready pdf along with some instructions for how to go about fan binding (and links to people who can explain the process better than i can) on my google drive!

one pun ched man. one of the most well known anime in the world. 4th most popular anime on MAL. celebrities and tv shows have referenced it. the memes that have entered the mainstream. oppai shirt. OK panel. what’s with this sassy lost child etc. posts about it used to rack up hundreds of thousands of notes here on tumblr dot edu. the sai genos shipping. literally the original webcomic and manga are still ongoing. and yet the active fandom right now numbers approximately 8 ppl. on ao3 it’s just barely crossed 6000 fics and most of the ones coming out are those crossover fics with 10+ media tagged. the current manga arc is about two characters who were raised in a facility built to turn them into cold blooded assassins and didn’t allow talking to each other but they ended up becoming each other’s only friends anyway and dreamed together of turning the facility into an orphanage instead until one of them killed everyone there except for the other who he poisoned and left for dead then became a hero while the other survived and became a villain and now they have a complicated antagonistic relationship where they bicker and are still perfectly in sync when they fight together and both obviously still care about each other but neither of them acknowledges it. and they’re both hot twinks. yet the ship tag for them on ao3 currently numbers exactly 47 fics. 10 of which are mine. what the hell happened

by the way i've been going through rtd's non-doctor-who work and the first thing i watched was queer as folk and i have to say. there's a lot going on in that show but my main takeaway is "it's extremely obvious that the guy writing this really wants to write doctor who." there are ten episodes and of those i believe seven mention doctor who in some capacity. the theme starts playing in the middle of gay sex. k-9 is there. the character responsible for most of these references breaks up with his boyfriend because the boyfriend can't name all the doctors. at the end he has a couple lines where i was like "wow this sounds like something the doctor would say" and then the next lines out of his mouth were about doctor who. all of this is retroactively much funnier now that rtd kickstarted a 20+-year-long reboot for the show
