There is something about mutual obsession I love. I know that I am fixated, ensnared, enthralled. I know that whatever you say, I’d follow blindly. Hearing your voice quiets all else, fills me with a need to please and fawn, I know that I would bend to your will, allow you to reshape me in whatever way you saw fit.

But I love thought that just as much as you have made me need you, you need me. I want you to crave my body, my voice, my presence. I want you to desire me, see every moment alone with me as an honour. I want you to want me all to yourself. I want you to want me so badly you can’t help yourself. I want you to steal me away, keep me to yourself in such a way I know I’ve taken root in your head just as much as you’ve taken root in mine.

I want to plague your every waking thought, fill you with a need that only I can satiate. I want the infesting rot of corruption to infect us both, intertwine us, and fill us with that obsession that only the other can satisfy.

I want your attention, yes. But I want you to need mine.

Danny’s on the Suicide Squad. He’s the defacto team moral compass and ray of sunshine. He plays the role of the camp counselor that keeps everyone in line. He’s not afraid of working with even the gnarliest of baddies.

Everybody on the team wonders how he ended up locked up with the villains- he never talks about what he did to end up behind bars no matter how much they pester him. Then one day they’re out on a mission and Harley or somebody is caught and tortured. Danny snaps. It’s the opposite of brutal- he takes down everyone in the room with clinical, dispassionate efficiency.

After it’s over and the team is safe he comes back to himself and is almost sheepish. He radios Belle Reve.

“Whoops. Add another couple notches on my power dampener collar, would you Waller?”

“Can’t, it’s already at max.”

“Ah. Well. I’ll have a look at strengthening it when we’re back then.”

The team just stared at him slack jawed. Good thing he’s on their side.

Notre-Dame’s Bells Ring

The bells of Notre Dame in Paris rang this morning for the first time since the fire in 2019.

In 2019, the 850-year-old building was engulfed by a devastating blaze, which burned for several hours.

Seeing left-sympathizing folks talk about Biden supporting Palestinian genocide as this unpredictable, absurd aberration that they can hardly believe is happening (He’s a Democrat, after all! Aren’t they supposed to be the good guys???) reminds me of liberals doing the same thing when Trump was being openly racist and inciting violence against minorities and doing treason and whatever while he was in the White House. As if it’s impossible to conceive of these things happening, especially out in the open, with not even lip service paid to basic human decency.

And it’s like— I’m glad you’re mad about this, it’s horrible! This is a good thing to be mad about, and to want to change. You’re not wrong about that.

But, boy, have I got some bad news about how utterly predictable and precedented this is. This is, in context, not at all surprising, and has basically been ongoing for the entire existence of this country. It would be way weirder if the sitting president *didn’t* throw his weight behind ethnic cleansing. It’s like, historically his favorite thing to do!

Existing as more of a concept than an actual dominant persona is interesting. I do not know if the things I will say or share are things I actually fantasise from a dominant angle, or if I am merely expanding the boundaries of the things I am willing to write.

I feel as if like this I behave more objective, analysing the ways I can make someone squirm and finding the right words, putting them in the right sequence— a detachment from the fantasy, maybe, but more focused on the gratification of the recipient.

I do not see myself in the words I may write. But you do, and that is all that matters to me.
