Good News - May 15-21
Like these weekly compilations? Support me on Ko-fi! Also, if you tip me on Ko-fi, at the end of the month I'll send you a link to all of the articles I found but didn't use each week - almost double the content!
1. Translocation of 2,000 rhinos in Africa gets underway in “one of the most audacious conservation efforts of modern times”
“The 2,000 rhinos - more than are currently found in any single wild location in Africa - represent around 12-15% of the continent’s remaining white rhino population. […] “Rhinos perform an important ecological function in the environment as a large grazing herbivore,” says Dale Wepener[….] “The protection of rhino is far more than just looking after rhino; other species that occur in the protected areas will benefit from the protection,” explains Jooste. “This will lead to an increase in diversity and result in much healthier ecosystems.”
2. Florida Corridor Buffers Effects of Climate Change on Wildlife — And People

“A massive multi-partner effort that has conserved 10 million acres for wildlife in Florida over past decades will help buffer wildlife—and people—from the effects of climate change, a new report says. […] Protecting these corridors is important for wildlife genetics, demography and connectivity […], conducting prescribed fires in the corridor can reduce the risk of more intense wildfires [… and] they can provide buffers against hurricanes and seasonal thunderstorms.”
3. Global life expectancy to increase by nearly 5 years by 2050 despite geopolitical, metabolic, and environmental threats
“Increases are expected to be largest in countries where life expectancy is lower, contributing to a convergence of increased life expectancy across geographies. The trend is largely driven by public health measures that have prevented and improved survival rates from cardiovascular diseases, COVID-19, and a range of communicable, maternal, neonatal, and nutritional diseases (CMNNs).”
4. Valencia has Spain’s longest urban park
“Jardin del Turia (Turia Garden) is the green spine of the City of Valencia and Spain’s (and possibly Europe’s) longest urban park stretching for a length of 8.5 kilometres [… and] the current administration plans to make Jardin del Turia Europe’s largest city green space by extending it to the sea[….] Almost all Valencia residents (97 per cent) live within 300 metres of an urban green space. […] Jardin del Turia is a true urban oasis that provides exceptional thermal comfort, with a temperature difference of up to three degrees compared to other areas of the city.”
5. This Paint Could Clean Both Itself and the Air
“When an artificial ultraviolet light source shines on [photocatalytic] paint, the nanoparticles react with pollutants to make them break down—theoretically removing them from the nearby air and preventing a discoloring buildup. [… R]esearchers developed a new photocatalytic paint that they claim works using UV rays from ordinary sunlight, making its self-cleaning properties easier to activate. They’ve also shown that they can effectively produce this paint from recycled materials [including fallen leaves].”
6. Planting Seedlings for a Cooler Rockingham
“A dedicated group of volunteers recently planted over a thousand native seedlings in Lewington Reserve [… and] re-established canopy cover to areas of the reserve to create cooling shade for the local community and provide homes for native wildlife. […] Planting lots of trees and shrubs in urban areas can help create shade and cool cities, mitigating the impacts of climate change, contributing to biodiversity conservation and building greener, more resilient communities.”
7. Sydney’s first dedicated affordable housing for trans women designed to deliver ‘positive outcomes’
“Community housing provider and charity Common Equity NSW, […] which is for people on very low to moderate incomes, prides itself on creating inclusive living and promotes the independence and well-being of people and communities […, and] will deliver the first-of-its-kind social housing in a bid to provide a safe place to live for transgender women seeking an affordable home.”
8. Rewilding: How a herd of bison reintroduced to Romania is helping ‘supercharge’ carbon removal
“170 European Bison reintroduced to Romania’s Țarcu mountains could help capture and store the carbon released by up to 84,000 average US petrol cars each year. […] By grazing a 48 square kilometre area of grassland in a wider landscape of 300 kilometres squared, they helped to capture an additional 54,000 tonnes of carbon each year. That is around 10 times the amount that would be captured by the ecosystem without the bison.”
9. World’s biggest grids could be powered by renewables, with little or no storage
“[…] 100% renewable supply can then match the load by putting surplus electricity into two kinds of distributed storage worth that [an energy expert] says are worth buying anyway – ice-storage air-conditioning and smart bidirectional charging of electric cars, and recover that energy when needed, filling the last gaps with unobtrusively flexible demand.”
10. Supporting the Long-Term Survival of Copper River Salmon and Alaska Native Traditions
“With $4.3 million in NOAA funds, the Copper River Watershed Project and The Eyak Corporation will remove fish passage barriers, opening more streams for salmon spawning and subsistence fishing. [… As part of this effort, o]ld narrow culverts that constrict water flow will be replaced with “stream simulation” culverts wide enough to fit the full stream, including its banks. They are also deep to allow contractors to place stones and other material inside to mimic a natural stream bottom.”

a few thoughts on the different types of romantic love in the bear
One facet of the show that I feel like is incredibly poignant is the emotional realism. I think I read another post or podcast about "emotional realism" in the bear so I will be borrowing that to talk about emotional realism when it comes to romantic partnerships in the show.
I feel like a lot of people wanted Sydney and Carmy to be this magical soulmate pairing that faced no opposition, trials, or tribulations on their journey to love and let me be the one to tell you right now. That's just not realistic. So in order to showcase how the show portrays different versions of romantic love, I wanted to focus on some couples that are not so triggering when it comes to the idea of romantic partnership within the context of the show.
Natalie x Pete: Natalie and Pete are the epitome and pinnacle of romantic love in the show. BUT, and STRONG BUT, they are not without their challenges. Natalie's family for the most part do not like Pete. They tolerate him, now, but for the longest time and to this day, they talk shit about him, because he's not like them. He's an outsider who has a different way of loving, and they don't understand it. Should Pete have left Natalie because her family didn't accept him?
Natalie's traumatic childhood still makes her feel insecure about her relationship. Plus she has a lot of generational trauma that she is working through to not pass down these things to her daughter. Should Pete leave her because she's insecure and traumatized?
You would answer no.
Richie x Tiff:
Richie and Tiff are divorced but they are still deeply interconnected because of Eva. You know that there is still a deep love between them because of the conversation on the bench. Tiffany wants Richie at her wedding because that's her family. Not to embarrass him or make him feel bad, but because she still has a deep love for him as a person. I get the sense that they didn't work out because it took him well into his adult life to figure out what he really wanted to do. Sometimes love isn't enough, especially when a child is involved. Tiffany and Eva deserve stability and at the time Richie wasn't able to provide it for YEARS. So I don't blame Tiff for leaving, but if Richie was in a better place, I know she would've stayed.
Just because you aren't with someone anymore doesn't mean that their importance to your life and the love you have for them just goes away.
Tina x Mr. Marrero
We don't get to spend a lot of time with them but we get to see such a beautiful dynamic between Tina and her husband. Now that they've been given it to me I need more. Tina and her husband are doing their very best to take care of their son and live a content life. They aren't rich but they've created a warm and comforting environment that is built on the foundation of their love. When Tina loses her job, it shakes up everything. Mr. Marrero is focused on his duty to take care of the household on his modest income. And Tina is so independent and knows that they need her income in order to survive. Her husband supports her through this transition even if it's stress on him and her. They work as team to get through this life change. Should he have left Tina the moment she became frustrated with finding employment? Should Tina have left him because his income alone wasn't enough to sustain them?
Again the answer is no.
The emotional realism of the bear shows that relationships of any kind are never perfect and never without challenges. Familial, platonic, or romantic. Sydney and Carmen are no different. While I support whatever decision Sydney makes, I do believe that what they are going through is their biggest trial yet. Syd and Carmy have failed to communicate in a healthy way for 3 seasons. And once these miscommunications finally bubble over it's going to be catastrophic. In one way or another. Who knows? At the end of the day what's important is that they do learn how to communicate because whether they stay business partners or become more or less, there will be obstacles that they will need to work through and grow from together.
"What grows together goes together."
thank you @thoughtfulchaos773 for encouraging me to expand on this

A rally outside a Western Sydney public school in support of a staff member stood down after he defended the two Sydney nurses who allegedly made vile anti-Semitic comments heard repeated cries of 'Allahu Akbar'.
On Monday, Sheikh Wesam Charkawi, was ordered to work from home for allegedly breaching the NSW Education Departments' social media policy and code of ethics.
In an Instagram post on February 16, the Granville Boys High School support officer spoke up in support of the two Sydney nurses who were recorded boasting about withholding treatment from Israeli patients and even killing them.
Sheikh Wesam slammed the 'selective moral outrage' of Australian politicians, claiming that the two nurses' comments were 'never meant to be literal or intended to be a threat to patient care'.
After the Western Sydney Imam was ordered to work from home, a rally was organised outside the government-funded school by a group called 'Vote4Palestine' on Wednesday.
Footage of the protests showed at least 150 pupils, parents and members of the community, chanting 'Palestine will live forever' and 'stop arming Israel', while waving Palestine flags.
One individual with a megaphone also led chants of 'La ilaha illallah muhammadur rasool allah', an Arabic phrase that translates to 'I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is his messenger'.
These were followed by chants of 'Allahu Akbar', meaning 'God is most great'.
The single-sex school has about 770 male pupils, 96 per cent of whom are from non-English-speaking backgrounds.
Sheikh Kamel Hamed, the Imam at the nearby Rahme Mosque in Guilford whose four children went to the school, addressed the crowds through a loudspeaker.
'He’s (Sheikh Wesam) a man of honour, a man who loves family, a man who loves peace, a man who love justice and fairness,' he said.
‘Listen to the voice of our youth, they want Sheikh Wesam back. Give them Sheikh Wesam. Do the right thing.'
Ahmed Ouf, an independent candidate who is hoping to oust Education Minister Jason Clare in the seat of Blaxland where the school is located, led the pupils on a call and response chant of 'Who do we want? Sheikh Wesam. When do we want him? Now'.
Daily Mail Australia approached the school for comment.

The King and Queen will visit Australia and Samoa
Their Majesties The King and Queen will undertake an Autumn Tour from Friday 18th – Saturday 26th October 2024. This will include a Royal Visit to Australia, State Visit to The Independent State of Samoa and attendance at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2024.
The King’s visit to Australia will be His Majesty’s first to a Realm as Monarch, whilst the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa is the first The King will attend as Head of the Commonwealth. In both countries, Their Majesties’ engagements will focus on themes designed to celebrate the best of Australia and Samoa, as well as reflecting aspects of The King and Queen’s work.
Australia
In Australia, His Majesty, as Head of State, accompanied by Her Majesty The Queen, will visit Parliament House, in Canberra, where Their Majesties will be welcomed by the Prime Minister, Mr Anthony Albanese. His Majesty will address a reception attended by political and community leaders, and prominent Australians who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in a variety of fields, including health, arts, culture and sports. Their Majesties will pay their respects to the Fallen, laying a wreath at the Australian War Memorial and visiting the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander memorial, ‘For Our Country’. The King and Queen will conduct a Fleet Review of the Royal Australian Navy, in Sydney Harbour.
On the theme of sustainability, The King will visit CSIRO, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, meeting firefighters and learning more about the centre’s work to combat the bush fires which devastate millions of hectares of Australian land each year. Their Majesties will tour the National Botanic Gardens, home to the largest living collection of Australian native plants in the world, where they will learn about Indigenous plant use. They will also hear from staff and volunteers about how climate change is affecting biodiversity.
The King, who has this year been receiving treatment for cancer, will meet Professor Georgina Long and Professor Richard Scolyer, both Australians of the Year, and will hear about the work they do to help those affected by melanoma, one of Australia’s most common cancers.
Meanwhile, Her Majesty’s programme will also reflect the themes of her wider work, including her passion for encouraging reading and literacy and her desire to raise awareness of domestic and family violence. At a library in Sydney, Her Majesty will meet children participating in a Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition workshop. In Canberra, The Queen will join a discussion on domestic and family violence, with some of those whose lives been affected by it, and experts who work in the field. Her Majesty will also meet representatives of GIVIT, a charity which matches donors with those in need, of which she is Patron.
Their Majesties will attend a community BBQ in Western Sydney, sampling a range of produce from across New South Wales, experiencing the cultural diversity of Australian communities and meeting local residents. The King will also meet Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representatives and groups to learn about their work in supporting local community and strengthening culture.
Samoa
Their Majesties’ State Visit to Samoa will celebrate the warm bilateral relationship between the two countries, which has been further strengthened by Samoa’s hosting of CHOGM 2024. The King and Queen will receive a formal welcome to the country, in the form of an ‘Ava Fa’atupu ceremony, before meeting Samoans at an engagement to highlight aspects of Samoan traditions and culture. His Majesty will also spend time with young people and community and faith leaders.
The King’s programme will, in addition, reflect the theme of sustainability and biodiversity, in support of one of the key themes of CHOGM – ‘A Resilient Environment’, and the meeting’s focus on oceans. His Majesty will visit both a mangrove forest and a National Park, witnessing the work which is carried out by local communities to restore and protect both these vital ecosystems. He will also plant a tree in Samoa’s Botanical Garden, marking the opening of a new area within the site, which will be called ‘The King’s Garden’. Meanwhile Her Majesty’s engagements will again focus on the wider themes of her work. The Queen will visit an aoga faifeau (traditional Samoan Pastor’s School) to see first-hand how pupils are taught to read and write. Her Majesty will also visit the Samoa Victim Support Group, an organisation which assists survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse, where she will learn more about the services the group provides to those in crisis.
CHOGM 2024
The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa will bring together delegations from 56 countries across Africa, the Caribbean and Americas, Europe, Asia, and the Pacific. The overall theme of this year’s meeting is: ‘One Resilient Common Future: Transforming Our Common Wealth’.
In His Majesty’s first Commonwealth Day message as Sovereign, in March 2023, The King said of the Commonwealth: ‘Its near-boundless potential as a force for good in the world demands our highest ambition; its sheer scale challenges us to unite and be bold.’ CHOGM 2024 will see some of that ambition and unity on display with an emphasis on resilience across 4 key areas – resilient societies and peoples, resilient democratic institutions, a resilient environment and resilient economies.
As Head of the Commonwealth, The King, accompanied by The Queen, will attend the CHOGM Opening Ceremony and will host a Dinner for Commonwealth Heads of Government. The King will also host a Reception for New Heads of Government and will attend the CHOGM Business Forum to hear about progress on sustainable urbanisation and investment in solutions to tackle climate change.
Gender Equality and Women’s empowerment is one of CHOGM’s key themes, and Her Majesty will attend a side event to the Women’s Forum on the subject of ‘Advocating for Women and Girls in the Commonwealth’, with a focus on eliminating violence against women and improving health.

1. I didn’t skirt it, that why the definition of Zionism was the very first thing in my post. Now, if you choose to reject that definition and want the word to mean whatever you want it to mean that’s on you. If you think the mere existence of Israel as a country is evil and a bad thing to support, then there’s no productive conversation to be had with you anyway.

The point here is not "Israel is a saint country that never does wrong". The point is that Israel is not better or worse than any other country or territory. If a Palestinian or someone with connections to Palestine is allowed to love it in spite of what Hamas and other terrorist groups have done and are currently doing without being demonized, cancelled or called evil; then it's only natural to concede that someone from Israel or with connections to Israel is allowed to love it in spite of what its government has done or does currently without being demonized, cancelled or called evil. Especially after Israel suffered a terrorist attack and is receiving antisemitism all over the world.

I've always found it interesting how Victor as a character, narratively, is so dependent on Eli's existence, up until this point in the canon, because all we see of him is either shortly before or after Eli appears. We really know very little about his past, so the canon version of Victor Vale is just a product of Eli's influence on his life (in a way) [and of course there is a lot of other things, but it's too much to detail didn't want it to be too long], hope it doesn't sound confusing.
I know I've drafted at least one post talking about the narrative in Villains and how Victor manages to cast it off, but I can't find either of them so I probably left them to die in drafts. Yes! Victor's narrative is very dependent on Eli's. I think in a lot of ways the series is about Victor grappling for control of the narrative. Like if we think about this (very popular) quote:
If Eli really was a hero, and Victor meant to stop him, did that make him a villain?
Of course, Eli's not a hero. But narratively, while Victor is the main protagonist, Eli takes the role of the hero, and Victor the villain. It's a hero story with Eli as the main character. He's the one who researched EOs, who believed in them. He's the one who first got powers, who spent 10 years moving through the world with Victor as his backstory. He passed for not just normal, but a standout. He even wears Clark-Kent-esque glasses as a disguise. Eli is a hero-coded villain.
“He heals. It’s a reflexive ability. In his eyes, I think that makes it somehow pure. Divine. He can’t technically use his power to hurt others.”
Victor is relegated to the second guy, the other guy, the friend turned adversary. He's aware of it, he struggles against it, but the narrative sets him up to fail. He was never the shining star Eli was; he never tried to hide his nature. Victor gains powers and immediately gets locked up for ten years. Even when he came back, his main focus was getting revenge on Eli. It should've been impossible for him to win, because at the end of the day he was mortal and Eli wasn't. The hero narrative ends with the villain in the ground, and the hero living to fight another day. Victor was always doomed by the narrative, a dead man walking.
Sydney Clarke could raise the dead.
Sydney is the character that interrupts their whole narrative. She's not subject to their narrative, and so she's able to save Victor from it. Their narrative plays out in Vicious, and she isn't able to directly stop it, but she resurrects Victor and lets him live beyond it. One of the threads in Vengeful is about Sydney growing up and growing into her power. Eli and their narrative catch back up to Victor and this time narratively she's able to interfere directly: she kills Eli, allowing Victor to cast it off more fully.
“Do you know him?” he asked, eyes alight. Sydney nodded. “How?”
Sydney swallowed. “He’s the one who shot me.”
What's also interesting is that she doesn't come to Victor directly. She meets Eli first, and he tries to kill her. Victor finds her and saves her. She held the power to change their narrative, but it was the choices that they made within the narrative that aligned her with Victor. Eli chose to kill her, and she new narrative came back to bite him in the ass. Victor chose to save her, and in return she saved him.
It was like a magnet, constantly drawing his eye, but Victor forced himself not to stop and look at it. Not to think about what it meant, that Eli Cardale was really, truly dead. The way the knowledge knocked Victor off-balance. A counterweight finally removed.
With Eli dead, Victor's narrative center is gone. The oldest constant in his life, the character he's grappled with for years. That hero narrative has been cast off completely, and now Victor's untethered. We've never seen Victor alone. He's such a solitary character, but he's always been heavily defined by Eli, and usually supported by Mitch and Syndey. In Victorious he finally has a chance to be independent. I don't know what he's going to do with it, but I'm very excited to see where he goes after Vengeful.
#I'm gonna call this long enough#but i could probably go on like. villains is so interesting in how it treats the classic superhero story#victor vale#eli ever#villains duology#villains trilogy#villains#vicious#vengeful#ve schwab#victorious#Syndey Clarke

Okay. I guess I can see why you do that. Some of my friends were in the Navy, I live in a Navy town, and every politician always says stuff like this to show their support for the sainted Local Business. But who is this person, anyway?
Australia? I'd understand if it was a weird location error because I am in a port town in Washington, abbreviated WA, and Australia has Western Australia, also abbreviated WA. But this lady is from Sydney, NSW.
Now, at this point I was kinda tempted to make a snarky comment, because of a fun fact: Many of the Independence-class Littoral Combat Ships the US Navy bought were built by Austal USA, the American subsidiary of Austal, an Australian shipbuilder. Basically it's an Australian company with some local rebranding so the government trusts the foreigners enough with their sensitive tech.
The Littoral Combat Ships are... bad. REALLY BAD. So bad, in fact, that the US Navy is trying to get rid of them. Even if the imagined mission for them still existed, the ships all have the fundamental problem of falling apart at the seams. It has all been a big blunder, the Navy wants them gone, Congress doesn't because Soviet-style make-work projects are fine as long as they're for the military.
But, I gave her page a glance, and she seems okay, and technically, the Austal-built LCS were not, in fact, built in Australia. They were built in Mobile, Alabama. So just another day in the algorithm being weird.
If you've read this far, thanks for allowing me to waste your time.

Sydney Lambert (born Sage)
Romantic, loves outdoors, clumsy.
Renaissance sim.
Mermaid.
Sydney Lambert is the mother of twins Graham and Melody and wife to Jay Lambert. Though she looks stern, she actually is more of a worried mother who is scared of not doing the right thing, rather than an actual severe person. It showed in the education provided to her children, whom she would always support no matter the path they chose. But she did unintentionnally favored Graham, considered a genius by the family, and forgot Melody who always seemed more independant in her eyes.
Sydney Lambert was a humble lifeguard working at a Sulani beach when the eyes of a prince met hers. She comes from humble backgrounds and being a lifeguard was not her ideal job - but it helped that she was born a mermaid. Jay Lambert is the fourth child of the then monarch Dahlia Lambert. Even if the chances of him succeeding someday were slim, it still meant a lot of pressure for her to marry into such a family. Thankfully, Jay is not a very severe person. He always tended to do his thing on his own but was still close to his mother. Dahlia was always sweet to Sydney, so the pressure Sydney felt was always coming from herself. This made her always agreeing with anything concerning Jay's family so of course she would agree to live with Jay's mom until her death. Things are not so bad as Jay is technically a duke and that makes her a duchess. But this inner pressure she puts on herself has become greater than ever since her daughter Melody announced her unexpected pregnancy. Melody was only a teen, close to graduate high school and she had a secret boyfriend that is already at uni?! Damage control was needed and Jay agreed: the boyfriend has to live with them and take responsibility. But can Sydney even trust that boyfriend coming out of nowhere?

Past Lives (2023) Review
This. This is romance. Not that silly Sydney Sweeney/Glen Powell romp coming later this year where they go to a wedding and pretend to be a couple just to spite their exes. Like honestly, we've already been through Fifty Shades of Grey. And Darker. And flipping Freed! Now we've got this ridiculous Anyone But You. Yikes. Thankfully Past Lives has come out this year and reminds us that solid mature love stories can be made.
Plot: Nora and Hae Sung, two deeply connected childhood friends, are thrust apart after Nora's family emigrates from South Korea. Decades later, they are reunited for one fateful week as they confront destiny, love and the choices that make a life.
A new A24 movie. Plot twist - it's good. Honestly, A24's track record in recent years has been insanely solid! It's delightful to see, as they give such a strong voice to indie filmmaking, and support independent cinema by believing in them and providing them a platform to be seen by the world. The most notable recent example has been Ari Aster's wacko psychological attack on the senses with his odyssey of Beau Is Afraid. Love or hate that movie, one has to appreciate that a movie like that would not have been possible would it not have been for A24. Taking such a risk by literally allowing filmmakers to really go out there with their ideas is wonderful and as such any new A24 release always sparks my attention.
Past Lives is very much a film that shines through with its simplicity and restraint. First-time director Celine Song seems to really understand that idea of human connection, and as such for the most part, trusts her actors to make the magic happen. Many scenes involve characters exchanging long lines of dialogue and then simply staring into one another eyes in silence, and it never felt awkward or off, but simply very real. The actors' body language in particular was impressive, with the simple twitches of the eye or light nodding of the head expressing so much emotion and deeper meaning. Again, this is a very simple plot, yet it manages to become this rich and complex tale of identity, lost love, sought closure, and found purpose, with elements of spiritualism and inner psychology; and it's all due to Celine Song having the proper understanding of when to allow silence to speak. Yet despite the frequent bouts of silence, not a moment feels wasted. Every shot and sentence is meticulously edited to give us exactly what we need to feel each moment with its full emotional power. Speaking of the shots, the cinematography is crisp and powerful, managing to capture the beauty of lonely cities, reflecting the inner psyche of its central characters.
Again, Past Lives isn't in any way groundbreaking or mind-blowing. In fact, the movie can be fully summed up using the quote that Ke Huy Quan says in Everything Everywhere All at Once - "In another life, I would have really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you." It's that idea of what-if that I'm sure every single one of you had where you look back into your memories and wonder what if you did something different and how that would have changed your present. In terms of Everything Everywhere that very much is an exaggerated version with multiverses and alternate realities, but the idea is the same. Also, Past Lives delves into the Buddhist idea of reincarnation, and how some people are not meant to be with each other in this life, but in another do get together. In the movie's context, it's about connections and the inarticulate way we cannot understand why we have these people in our lives.
This is very mature filmmaking, with serious themes and poetic connotations, which I very much enjoyed. My one gripe and this is definitely just me, but John Magaro's character of the modern-day husband of Nora - he seemed too nice to be true. Like his woman is so over this old friend from childhood where romance is definitely insinuated, and he's just so accepting of it. I would have personally been really jealous, but no, Magaro was just like "I trust ya". That's not me complaining about the film, it's just me questioning his character's thought process and overly trusting nature. Regardless, Past Lives is an honest, delicate, and ambling movie that doesn't try to be anything bigger than what it is - a simple story of love.
Overall score: 7/10
