What kind of lovers do you attract/ are attracting?
How to choose a pile?
Take a deep breath and gently close your eyes. Politely request your spirit guides to reveal the appropriate pile meant for you, then open your eyes. Whichever pile captures your attention is the one meant for you.

Pile 1
Your energy has this amazing superpower to heal, like a magic balm for broken hearts. It's no wonder people are drawn to you like bees to honey. You're like a walking oasis of comfort for those who've had their share of love's bumps and bruises. Those you attract are the creative types, the ones who think outside the box and color outside the lines. You've got this magnetic pull for guitar-strumming, canvas-painting, poem-writing folks. You know, those artsy souls who've often danced with heartache. It's like your aura says, "Hey, bring on the creatives!" Your magnetism doesn't stop at artists. Nope, it goes all the way to the bank, you attract some deep-pocketed darlings. Money? Not an issue for them, they've got it going on. And oh boy, strength? Both mental and physical? It's like you've got this fiery aura that's a total strength magnet. And hold onto your hats because popularity is part of your package deal. You snag the ones who are well-liked, the ones everyone wants to hang around. It's like you've got this neon "cool people only" sign that shines super bright. The people you draw in might be total opposites of you. I know, wild, right? But hey, life's all about surprises.
Pile 2
So, this is my personal pile of hopeless romantics. Get ready, because the lovers you're pulling in? They're just like you. You're like a magnet for those total dreamers, the ones who see love as this magical, larger-than-life adventure. You know those who could fall in love with the idea of falling in love. Yep, that's who's knocking on your heart's door. You're also attracting a bunch of daydreamers , those people who view love through these super rosy glasses. It's like they're lost in this fairytale, and they're looking for their partner to be the co-star in their romantic movie of life. And guess what? Your energy is like a beacon for the brainiacs too. You're snagging those who are smart, logical, and always ready with a dose of sensible advice. They're a blend of both worlds. It's like they've got this epic tug-of-war between their dreamy side and their practical side, and you're right in the middle of that sweet balance. They might not be super experienced in the love department. It's like they're all about that puppy love, that innocent and genuine kind of affection. So, whether you're nodding your head like, "Yeah, that's me," or you're like, "Wait, what?" this is your magnetic vibe.
Pile 3
You've got this power to pull in super dedicated lovers. They're the ones who are all about their hustle, totally work-oriented, and maybe even more focused on their projects than on matters of the heart. But hold on tight, because you've also got a thing for those who date with marriage in mind. No casual hookups for you , it's all about those who are in it for the long haul. Now, let's talk about down-to-earth vibes. The ones you attract, They're as grounded as a sturdy oak tree. It's like they've got their feet planted firmly on the ground, which makes for a really solid connection. And speaking of connections, you're kind of a magnet for the old-school romantics. Yep, you're attracting those who've got a dash of old-fashioned love in their style. It's like they're straight out of a vintage love story. The lovers you're drawing in are all about stability and commitment. Heartbreak? Not on their agenda. These are the ones who are ready for the real deal, a relationship with a rock-solid foundation. So, if you've been worried about love's rollercoaster, fret not. Your vibe is all about that steady, unshakeable connection.

Now we need the DC science kids creating their own resistance (behind the inferior resistance’s back) and making a plan to defeat Hawk moth. And I am 99% sure that Zoe becoming Vesperia was all a plan for Jean to get his hands in a miraculous and learn how to track the butterfly.
(Season 1)
Aurore: Alright! For two months, Hawkmoth has been plaguing Paris, and the so-called heroes haven't gotten anything done!
Cosette: Is it because they're a bunch of kids who don't know shit about magic jewelry?
Aurore: Yes.
Simon: And because some old guy with some shady origins entrusted two random teenagers with the world's most powerful Miraculous?
Aurore: Yes.
Reshma: And because those two teenagers happen to be our schoolmates? Both of whom have no experience with magic or superpowers?
Aurore: Yes.
Lacey: That was very irresponsible.
Denise: Exactly. We've had years to perfect our powers, they've had the Miraculous for, like Aurore said, two months. Dios, I sound old.
Jean: Look, we can easily take down Hawkmoth before they do. There are hundreds of Miraculous in the world, each tied to their own Miracle Box, and I'm certain there's one here, which is how Ladybug, Chat Noir, and Hawkmoth got their Miraculous. We just need to get close to Ladybug and Chat Noir and earn their trust so they'll loan us any spare Miraculous when they come across an Akuma in need of backup.
Aurore: Okay, you're making some sense, but how will this get us closer to finding the Butterfly Miraculous?
Jean: Oh, just a little augmentation spell. There are certain rules that come with like, overpowered Miraculous, preventing them from copying other powers and shit, blah blah blah, so, that's where I come in. A bit of magic on those, and we'll stop Hawkmoth once and for all.
Aurore: Perfect. And in order to get those Miraculous, we'll need to show Ladybug and Chat Noir that we are the right fits for them! It may take weeks, months, but once we gain their trust, then-
(Season 2)
Ismael: You have to be kidding me! She brought out the Fox, Bee, and the fucking Turtle, and gave them to Alya, Nino, and Chloé of all people?! What did they even do?! I threw myself in front of a bus!
Reshma: Easy, Ismael, relax... But, yeah, what did they do? But, Chloé revealed her identity. Marinette won't be choosing her again... Right?
Mireille: Of course not.
Marc: Unlikely.
Lacey: Never.
Ismael: Yeah, um... Quick question. What's the Lord of Darkness and Famine doing here? *Points to Nathaniel brooding in the dark corner of the classroom*
Nathaniel: I have a name.
Marc: Oh, it turns out Nathaniel also has powers... So, I let him in on our plan.
Nathaniel: Wait, did you say Marinette is Ladybug?... That actually makes sense.
Denise: Wait, go back. What powers do you have?
Nathaniel: A wide variety- Levitation, teleportation, summoning, I'm messing with possession, and entering a person's mindscape... I can't teleport unless I know where that place is, though.
Lacey: Fuck!
Aurore: Alright, he's in. The more hero kids, the better.
Nathaniel: Actually, my father is a demon who has enslaved hundreds of universes and devoured millions of souls, and only created me so that I may act as his portal, allowing him to enter this world and destroy all life on it.
DC Kids: ...
Simon: N-nice to have you on the team.
(Season 3)
Cosette: Okay... We are past five months, and that chick has handed out the Snake, Horse, Dragon, Rabbit, Mouse, and fucking Monkey Miraculous! All to her classmates and two possible crushes! Oh! And there's a Peacock lady!
Denise: It's like we're invisible! Did they not see me beat down Bakerix?!
Jean: Oh, and what about the power-ups?! I mean, come on!
Reshma: I swear, this is getting more annoying as the months go by. Nathaniel, I need to ask... What is up with your classmates? Wh-what are they doing to get the Miraculous?
Nathaniel: Mostly just standing around in the right place at the right time, I guess.
Ismael: Then, we will do just that...
(Season 4)
DC Kids: *Intensely staring at Zoé*
Zoé: ... Hi?
Aurore: ... You're here for a few weeks, and she immediately entrusts you with the Bee Miraculous... How?
Zoé: Wh-what are you-
Marc: We know you are Bruce Wayne's daughter and one of his Robins, we all have superpowers, now EXPLAIN HOW! *Zaps a hole through the wall with his laser eyes*
Zoé: Hey, cool it! Okay, she approached me. She plucked me up off the streets and was like, 'Here's a Miraculous, go beat up your sister.'
Lacey: Okay, that was a good Marinette impression. Maybe you can help us. We've been trying for months to get the Miraculous so Jean can do his magic and help us track down Shadow Moth. Think you can be of some assistance and, and I don't know- Get it through that girl's head that all of us have the makings of superheroes?!
Zoé: ... Yeah, sure. Whatever.
Ismael: Alright! We have got this in the bag!
(Season 5)
Ismael: WE ARE SO BONED!
Reshma: *Shuts the windows to avoid being spotted by Miraculized Parisians* I agree.
Simon: *Packing his belongings* I believe in these times, the protagonists must ask themselves, 'Is this worth it?'
Denise: Amor, no.
Simon: Exactly, it's not worth it.
Nathaniel: I think they mean, fuck the Miraculous, we have superpowers, let's just fuck this guy up.
Ismael: Big talk coming from you, CapriKid.
Nathaniel: Sorry I couldn't get to you guys in time. I didn't know she was gonna immediately flag me down. What'd you want me to do? Run?
Aurore: I mean...
Nathaniel: Oh, come on.
Jean: Hey, Nath's right, we have powers that don't have time limits, and Zoé has training from the world's greatest detective!
Mireille: You know, I think you're onto something, Jean.
Nathaniel: Yeah, it's definitely better than the God-awful Resistance plan my classmates have been doing.
DC Kids: ...
Zoé: We'll circle back to that. DC Kids, GO!
*During Lady Noire's battle with Monarch*
Monarch: Surrender now, Ladybug, for I-
Cosette: TASER PUNCH! *Punches Monarch with their electrified fist* YEAH! We finally found you, bitch!
*The DC Kids appear in Monarch's lair wearing outfits inspired by their parents and pose dramatically*
Simon: And we only had to break into like seven homes, but who's gonna care? Everyone in the world is a mindless drone!
Lady Noire: What- How did you-
Aurore: Shut up! J-just shut up! We've had it up to here with you fuckers! WAY UP!
Nathaniel: Azarath Metrion Zinthos! *Create a black force field around the Agreste Manor* No one's getting in or out, even with the Horse Miraculous.
Lady Noire: Nathaniel?!
Denise: Ah, quit acting surprised. *Knocks Monarch out with another punch before tying him up with the lasso of truth* Now tell us your damn name, you dick!
Mireille: Tell us before I make your eardrums explode, you dumb fuck.
Monarch: M-my name is Gabriel Agreste!
DC Kids: ...
Marc: Wow, who expected that?
Denise: Who else is working with you?!
Monarch: Nathalie Sanceour was for a brief moment, but she is no longer in the picture. Tomoe Tsurigi and I collaborated on the Alliance Rings to ensure total world domination, and Félix was the one who gave me all of the Miraculous in exchange for his Amok.
Denise: And how the hell did Félix get the Miraculous? *Lady Noire backs away*
Ismael: *Zaps the floor next to Lady Noire with his laser eyes* Don't even think about it.
Monarch: Ladybug gave him the Dog Miraculous, which he used to bring them to me!
*The DC Kids all eerily and simultaneously turn their heads toward Lady Noire*
Marc: You... CLORBAG VARBLERNEK!
Jean: Yeah! What he said!
Reshma: I cannot believe what I am hearing!
Lady Noire: I-I thought he was Adrien!
Zoé: Not a valid excuse! What happened to Miss Hound?! Huh?!
Monarch: Lila Rossi is also working for me!
Cosette: Bitch, we know that.

What are your OCs' favorite weapons or fighting styles? What weapons would they want to learn how to use, either for efficiency or just because they think it's cool?
Marco: prefers to sit behind the scenes and control his robots, he should probably learn at least some self-defense honestly lol
Salacia: prefers a shield and her control over water, can also use a polearm, xiphos, and bow and arrow, she'd love to learn some Atlantean fighting styles for Tuatlall <3333
Tuatlall: prefers magic, isn't much of a fan of physical combat
L'Harann: has superpowers (eye lasers best!!!) but is also good with her fists without them, she'd probably do well learning kickboxing
Experiment 929: likes to use her newfound superstrength to throw things like cars
Lea: prefers manipulating sound waves into knife-like projectiles and fighting with a bo-staff, practices (and teaches) jujutsu and taekwondo, she'd love to learn capoeira and kungfu
Megitsune: prefers fighting with dual-swords and jujutsu
Eoland: doesn't usually need to fight beyond using her superspeed, one punch at mach-2 is plenty for most people lol
Barbara: same as Eoland, she'll also do a few rounds of normal-speed boxing with Eden and Ira
Hartley: prefers to use her flute to hypnotize people to do what she needs them to or uses her robotic rats, she can throw a solid punch if she needs to but she could use some self-defense lessons also
Yǔqí: tries not to fight at all but will try to distract whatever hero is trying to stop her while her snakes finish what they need to do and make their escape
Eden: the police on Earth-63 don't really use weapons but she's a very good boxer, she'd love to learn karate as well
Ira: is also a very good boxer and he practices tai chi
Cisca: very much does not consider herself a fighter both before and after gaining her powers, though she's not opposed to using her powers to defend herself and her friends
Savitar: see Barbara
Mallorie: SPEED! FORCE! SWORDS!!!
Kal: he's literally Superman lol
Ricki: prefers her escrima sticks but is also proficient with a bo-staff, batarangs/birdarangs, shuriken, and practices kungfu, judo, taekwondo, and aikido, she'd love to have a better mastery of sword fighting
Jessie: prefers knives, particularly favors her kris, kunai, and cinquedea (and of course, the All Blades), she's also proficient with batarangs/birdarangs, shuriken, and practices muay thai, judo, and taekkyeon - although outlawed on all of Earth-63, she's also very good with projectile weapons including guns (where she got the guns, she'll never tell), she'd like to get better at archery
Tiff: prefers her bo-staff but is also proficient with batarangs/birdarangs, shuriken, and practices kendo (she was on her high school team), judo, and aikido, she'd like to get better with knives (she will die before she asks Jessie for help tho lol)
Dami: prefers their katana, is also proficient with knives, a bo-staff, batarangs/birdarangs, shuriken, and is absolutely not opposed to biting people, she also practices kungfu and muay thai and would like to learn more martial art disciplines
Gabi: prefers to turn into a tiger but her other go-to animals are gorilla, snake, bat, cat, dog, or octopus, she'd like to see if she can turn into extinct or alien animals
Laska: prefers her bow and arrow, would like to learn how to fight at close range
Piper: prefers to use her sound control for speed and defense, she'd love to learn how to use it on the offensive
Lara: practices hapkido, would like to learn other martial arts
Jisoo: prefers to use the ice side of her powers, she feels like the fire side is too dangerous but she'd definitely like to learn how to better control it
Alex: practiced qin na and fenced in high school and college
Dan: practices shuai jiao, would love to learn how to use some ancient greek weaponry
Amara: prefers her bow and arrow and fire powers, practices taekwondo, would like to get better with a sword or spear
Mendel: doesn't have any formal training but his punches are still fairly powerful and he'll also bite, he's trying desperately to get some sort of training lol

I wrote a beginning of an ask, clicked at a notification, and got deleted. Never mind that. "I was premaetitevely saying sorry for complaining at fandom stuff in your ask box" pretty much covers what that was. Sorry for that. This. (Or not, if you do want to talk about this stuff.) You are just about the only active Lucifer (TV) blog I know about. I would love to talk about this. This is very out of nowhere.
As I watched the show I (in a I may yet get this sort of a way) wanted, very much, to have a different show than I got. I saw the setup, the characters, their experiences, the events. I enjoyed watching it, but I also wanted for it to be a little more critical and a little less of a comedy. I wanted things to not be played for the laughs as much. I wanted for things to get serious, for Lucifer to be agreed with that he has been hurt, for him to be said to have been done wrong to. And, above that, I wanted that followed through with. I wanted for God to be punished for what he did to him.
Preferably killed in a fun little magic war with magic superpowers, I never expected that to happen in the show. Just in fanfic. I do not think it has happened in fanfic. (this is me asking for fanfic recs, if you have any)
I saw Lucifer. I empathized with Lucifer. With his situation, with his reactions. I saw that he was hurt.
I wanted for him to hurt the person who has hurt him back.
I can think that punishing people is a shit thing that hurts them. I can think that, from a mortal standpoint, punishment is bullshit. God having a redemption arc would have left me satisfied... but, no, I didn't expect that. I did think it was more probable for it to happen than for war on God to happen. But I expected the show to disappoint me.
As I watched it I remember I thought it was not quite brave enough to say what it sometimes showed. That it was not brave enough to straight up say God is a bad guy here. (if it had it would have probably not ran as long as it did, so, fair of it to itself, but still dissatisfying to me as an audience)
I am probably rambling. (I am writing this in an ask box, on mobile. I have accidentally delated three paragraphs. This is the Tumblr experience.)
I saw God do terrible things to Lucifer. I saw that he put him in hell (a terrible place) that he set the world up in a way that allowed for hell to exist (humans can leave, the show says, it is just the guilt that holds them here, but the thing about building a world is that you decide how it works and defending God's actions on the basis of its just how it is is a lot like saying the female characters fight magic wars in bikini and shoot lasers from their boobs because that's just how magic wars work in superhero city) (the world works how the writer decides it does)
This is pretty much just me complaining. I probably dont have a point I am gatting at. (This was brought on by Good Omens Season 2, in a side effect short of way. Mostly I was just reminded that damn remember how you watched that other christianity fanfic, remember how you stared at a wall and imagined a version of it that was more suited to your personal tastes and opinions and also had more superpowers shit because those do always look so cool)
Actually, if there was a point to this, then that point is fanfic. Have you, by chance, ever found the sort of a fanfic that really gets into God Is Bad Let's Wage A War sort of thing? Or if not, then something that approaches it? Something that at least frames God as a villain? Not only Lucifer's-Imaginary-Abusive-Human-Parent (pre-reveal kind of stuff) but full of actual God. Altrough, well, I'd read that too.
I suppose the thing I specifically really want to read is: Ella losing faith, properly so. Linda not just... going wow that's God but going oh shit that's Lucifer's abuser. I suppose I want to read about angels falling from Heaven and being framed as the ones in the right by the narrative. I suppose I want there to be a war. I suppose I would like to read about Hell Economics.
I probably should just write something myself at this point, but I am never very attached to but that's canon and would go if I change this I can change so much many more things to create a world I, myself, would like reading about more, and at that point, this would get very far from what the actual show was doing and I would stare at it and go that is a little too ambitious for me.
Yeah, no, the point of this was: do you by chance have any fanfic recs that you think I would like. Really sorry for bothering you if this bothered you... If you don't want to post this ask (very understandable) but would be open to offering any fanfic recs could you, idk, do a hello to that anon, have some fanfic in a separate post? I would really appriciate that.
...I'll, uh, go ask you about any active Lucifer blogs you know in a separate ask. (the fandom seems dead. is it dead? is it just you here?)
hello dear anon!
ngl reading this was an experience but one that i actually really enjoyed. i loved reading all of your thoughts and some of them i actually understand quite good. i enjoyed what we saw with lucifer but yes, there are some things that were missing for me, too. it's totally okay that you kind of even expected something different from it. you're allowed to have your own opinion.
either way i'm sorry to tell you that i don't read any fanfics but PLEASE if someone who reads this has any fanfic recs specifically like asked above that would be appreciated.
also sorry your initial ask got deleted and also some paragraphs accidentally by yourself. been through that and it's annoying.
the fandom is indeed dead except an occasional gifset every now and then (also by me @mauraeyk lol) i think it's more active on twitter and you're definitely not bothering me. i'm just sorry i can't be more helpful. take care! <3

honestly after seeing everything, from films to annotated books, say 1. him getting a "wicked desire" out of the sisters is Repression, or fear of dominant women, or it was hot and he'd enjoy it 2. him not recording what happened between him and Dracula the last night is him "hiding a homosexual affair" 3. him being unable to wake up to save Mina makes him a cuckold and "demoted" by the forbidden object of mina's desire... It's nice to see all three instances when he got assaulted (because 3rd Oct was an assault on him too dammit) being treated seriously, instead of turned into jokes or infidelity Actually.
I joke a lot about subjecting poor Jonathan to assorted horrors, but the truth of it is that while I do like throwing new twists and terrors his way, this guy was already very much subject to a wide array of nightmares and traumas that the rest of the cast never experiences, and for far longer. This obviously isn't to belittle the brisker and more immediately vicious attacks Dracula inflicts on, say, Lucy and Mina, but those same threats--exsanguination, death, undeath, automatic enslavement/entrapment--were all still very much intended for Jonathan on top of the rest of his two month marathon of psychological torture.
And you're right. The latter is never, ever brought up in Dracula media other than Dracula itself. Certainly never with any kind of dignity, honesty, or acknowledgment of the horror involved. Part of the reason I write Mr. Harker into so many miserable corners--corners that, some have pointed out, he's only trapped in by dint of the Villain of the Moment taking a covetous interest in him, be it for his weird strengths or his charm or both--is to highlight the fact that he is a damsel in distress. One who is consistently targeted because he appeals to the monster(s).
Jonathan Harker is a good, sweet, strong, intriguing, desirable character.
Jonathan Harker is a victim of unwanted amorous and/or literally bloodthirsty attention from multiple aggressors.
Jonathan Harker is a traumatized individual who, regardless of what sequels or spinoffs try to twist in otherwise, spent months having his mind dragged over broken glass as he tried to juggle trying to get help, trying to escape, trying not to anger the undead horror keeping him prisoner, trying not to get magically coerced into laying back and letting the sexual predator-coded vampires take turns drinking from him or worse, trying at the very end of his rope to attack the monster only to get parried by yet another surprise superpower and the cheat of arriving minions and elements to conspire against him, trying, trying, trying everything he could think of to Not Be in This Hell, only to ultimately gamble himself on a cliff fall or death in the wilderness rather than stay another minute in that stone box of nightmares and undead eternity with the Weird Sisters.
Jonathan Harker has all this inflicted on him because, like Lucy, like Mina, he was wanted too much. And, like them, he did not want any of it.
Jonathan Harker is not weak for that.
No narrative that tries to warp him into either a quailingly repressed hater of powerful women, or secretly willing cheater with the Brides or Dracula, or any other copout to make it seem like a softer, ignorable, unctuous little footnote in someone else's liberating vampire fetish take on Dracula in which he is unceremoniously booted aside for Mina and the Count's ribald affair which is automatically a better thing than Jonathan daring to have such with the Brides or Dracula has any merit to it. Period. But the infuriating fact is, yeah. The latter are an overwhelming majority in films, shows, and books.
So I feel no shame whatsoever in being as indulgent as possible in my portrayal of Jonathan as the first and most long-term damaged victim of the Count; the only victim in the book who was not one of Dracula's idle afterthoughts, but a meticulous and coveted project. His pain and his appeal are both overdue a spotlight by over a century. So it's all going into whatever I write with him.
#had a ramble and rant to get out this morning whoops#I have Thoughts and I have Feelings about Mr. Jonathan Harker can you tell#jonathan harker#dracula#penclosa#my writing

Episode 105 was pretty good
I liked it and stuff. I don't know if I'd quite call it a return to form though. Let me explain.
Let me start off by saying that Manabu was much MUCH better in this episode. He was actually enjoyable, felt like a "brains of the group" again as he made a ton of valid points, and he was bullied significantly less than in previous episodes where he duelled. Yuna vs Manabu round 2 was an episode I enjoyed despite Manabu's character in it. This episode however I enjoyed because of Manabu, something I haven't been able to say about an episode since season 1. HOWEVER. The key words there were "significantly less." The Manabuse problem as I call it did not 100% magically go away in this episode. The slapstick is forgiveable enough for me, that happens to a lot of characters in just cartoons in general. What bothers me are the moments of the others bullying him and lines that implied he would or could abuse the power he was seeking as Valvelgear's captain. And yes, it's just small moments, lines here and there nudging in that direction, but they are there. They are forgiveable and this is still a massive improvement over how he was treated in season 2, but it's something that can spiral out of control again if left unchecked. This episode treated Manabu overall well and I enjoyed his role in an episode for the first time in a long time but the rest of this season needs to follow suit for me to consider the Manabuse problem fixed.
Still, Manabu WAS treated well. He was consistently the voice of reason like he used to be in season 1, he gave Epoch solid advice, he won the duel, he got a new fusion, he graciously gave the captain position to Epoch and offered to help her. All of that is great and stuff I can see myself appreciating even more with time. Manabu is a good character in this episode and I'm very glad about that.
As for the other character who got a chance to shine, Epoch was pretty good this episode too. The cheating issue has finally been fully addressed and even resolved, definitely took way too long but I'm glad it did finally get addressed. And she also came out of the box! No complaints there, her design has grown on me and this is a good show of her character development the past season.
What I do have a complaint about, which might be a little petty so stick with me, is Epoch and by extension her descendant, Tiger, having a superpower. It just... this is one of those Go Rush things that for me, undermines Sevens in retrospect just a little. Tiger having a super loud booming voice that intimidated people did not register to me as a supernatural ability. In my mind, watching those scenes, the voice booming and everyone's reactions to it was a cartoony gag used to illustrate and magnify how intimidating Tiger was despite being a normal elementary school kid. Maybe that's not what the writers intended even back then, maybe it was always intended to be a superpower or maybe she doesn't have the power in full, she just inherited a bit of it from her ancestor. Who knows. But for me, Tiger seemingly having this magical superpower took away more than it added. It's not a deal breaker though. I'll reserve judgement on how it affects Epoch's character though since we haven't seen much of that yet.
Overall good episode even if I have some minor admittedly kind of nitpicky gripes with it. Still don't have much faith in the next episode but hey, I didn't with this one either before it came out and it managed to surprise me.

So long story short, she used her prototype of the system to hide her identity and infiltrated their ranks in order to study them better.

Isolation
It’ll be just a five minute nap they said, it’ll be fine they said, so where is everyone and why am I some sort of slime monster?
Long story short, a conflict between the heiress and her relatives over the application of some of her projects results in her being shoved into a stasis chamber meant for an experiment involving long-term isolation inside a simulated environment.
Unsurprisingly, they rebranded the setup as an AI managed super computer, and loaned out it’s vast processing power to the highest bidder… and eventually lost track of it’s existence.
Disaster strikes, and soon… the sleeper begins to wake… but the world had changed and so had they.

Personally I think destroyed the peacock miraculous would get rid of the problem because that is the source of the problem. Have the peacock in the hand of a person that don't want to use it for a bad thing is good, like Adrien for example, but it still doesn't sit right to me since the miraculous feels like a symbol of fear for all sentimonster because of what it capable to do, so get rid of it is the best thing I can think of.
Discard the tool, and yes, it would stop any people from ending existing Senti's life and creating any new Senti through its magic (and technically, even if a Miraculous is destroyed, the Kwami lives on. Although -- I don't remember where I read/heard that info, so do not take my words for it -- they wouldn't be able to stay visible nor be interacted with).
It would be interesting for the characters to question the magic system itself and challenge it. Lore-wise, the Peacock was mostly used for single and temporary mission before the show events. It was more the Guardian’s role to ensure : 1) when the Peacock was deemed necessary and only for single time mission 2) to carefully select the Holder 3) And no new Peacock Holder necessarily needed to know about previous created Sentis who were still alive even if they technically can sense the Amok when near one.
But the way it works in the show doesn’t match this old procedure. Not with temporary Holders getting their Miraculous back again and again or even becoming permanent Holders with Ladybug as Guardian of the Mother Miracle Box. It is one of those superpowers that could be deemed inappropriate to wield anymore.
Still I would be curious to see the Peacock and how the creator imagined it could be used for good but that’s a me thing and I could be satisfied with previous lore events instead just to better understand why the power exist and was intended in the first place

much like this post ^^ i wanted to give my few cents about about a white cane!! (blind cane)
i am legally blind / visually impaired, this is all i’ve learnt and been through in my 3 years of experience, PLEASE LEARN FROM BLIND AND VISUALLY IMPAIRED PEOPLE, hear our experiences and learn from us about us.
for a visual reference PLEASE go see Molly Burke on youtube, she is an incredible advocate for the community and her videos helped me get the first year+ of going blind.
a cane’s length should normally be between collarbone to mid chest height, depending on how far in-front of you you want to be aware of. a cane is normally foldable as well, but Visually impaired id canes are not. they are just to show that the user is visually impaired (VI) and are not used the way a white cane is.
there are 2 contact techniques: the 2 touch, and the constant contact.
the two touch is the most common in media where the cane user is walking and will tap the cane in front of them should width apart. step, cane touches the floor in line with (or a bit further) than their shoulder, step, touch, repeat.
constant contact is when the can is dragged (or rolled depending on the cane tip) along the floor from just past shoulder length in front of them.
the cane tips!
marshmallow tip: a common tip, generally rolls and can be used for both constant and two touch techniques.
roller ball tip: (my most used (5 used down to a point) and favourite) generally a heavy tip, can come in 2 sizes (at least from where im from) regular and mega. can be used for both techniques (but two touch will tire your wrist quickly)
i haven’t used the other tips so please look for other people in the community for information about those!!
another add on!! there is a technique to holding the cane as the handle has a flat side your pointer finger should be flat on the flat side and have the end of the cane in line with your belly button. see photo for reference :)
canes can be coloured, and are hollow so you can feel the vibrations of the floor, the sound of the tip on the floor and of course its lighter so you can fold it up and use it easier.
there is learning curves and a long, long while of pain and blisters (year 3 and there are finally calluses on my hand in the spot that rub on the handle)
carrying items is same as op stated before!! ^^
and as an added insight here is the most recent statistics i can find about blindness and visual impairment so you can learn some more!!
so only 13.684210526316% of visually impaired people are fully blind, and yet the only representation we receive is characters with 100% blindness, and have superpowers or get magically healed.
again, please watch Molly Burke on youtube for visual reference and more information, i am visually impaired but i only have been for 3 years, im still learning how to live and she has been living with it her whole life.
(i will gladly answer any questions please send in ask box)
A general cane guide for writers and artists (from a cane user, writer, and artist!)
Disclaimer: Though I have been using a cane for 6 years, I am not a doctor, nor am I by any means an expert. This guide is true to my experience, but there are as many ways to use a cane as there are cane users!
This guide will not include: White canes for blindness, crutches, walkers, or wheelchairs as I have no personal experience with these.
This is meant to be a general guide to get you started and avoid some common mishaps/misconceptions in your writing, but you absolutely should continue to do your own research outside of this guide!
This is NOT a medical resource!!! And never tell a real person you think they're using a cane wrong!
The biggest recurring problem I've seen is using the cane on the wrong side. The cane goes on the opposite side of the pain! If your character has even-sided pain or needs it for balance/weakness, then use the cane in the non-dominant hand to keep the dominant hand free. Some cane users also switch sides to give their arm a rest!
A cane takes about 20% of your weight off the opposite leg. It should fit within your natural gait and become something of an extension of your body. If you need more weight off than 20%, then crutches, a walker, or a wheelchair is needed.
Putting more pressure on the cane, using it on the wrong side, or having it at the wrong height can make it less effective, and can cause long term damage to your body from improper pressure and posture. (Hugh Laurie genuinely hurt his body from years of using a cane wrong on House!)
(some people elect to use a cane wrong for their personal situation despite this, everyone is different!)
(an animated GIF of a cane matching the natural walking gait. It turns red when pressure is placed on it.)
When going up and down stairs, there is an ideal standard: You want to use the handrail and the cane at the same time, or prioritize the handrail if it's only on one side. When going up stairs you lead with your good leg and follow with the cane and hurt leg together. When going down stairs you lead with the cane and the bad leg and follow with the good leg!
Realistically though, many people don't move out of the way for cane users to access the railing, many stairs don't have railings, and many are wet, rusty, or generally not ideal to grip.
In these cases, if you have a friend nearby, holding on to them is a good idea. Or, take it one step at a time carefully if you're alone.
Now we come to a very common mistake I see... Using fashion canes for medical use!
(These are 4 broad shapes, but there is INCREDIBLE variation in cane handles. Research heavily what will be best for your character's specific needs!)
The handle is the contact point for all the weight you're putting on your cane, and that pressure is being put onto your hand, wrist, and shoulder. So the shape is very important for long term use!
Knob handles (and very decorative handles) are not used for medical use for this reason. It adds extra stress to the body and can damage your hand to put constant pressure onto these painful shapes.
The weight of a cane is also incredibly important, as a heavier cane will cause wear on your body much faster. When you're using it all day, it gets heavy fast! If your character struggles with weakness, then they won't want a heavy cane if they can help it!
This is also part of why sword canes aren't usually very viable for medical use (along with them usually being knob handles) is that swords are extra weight!
However, a small knife or perhaps a retractable blade hidden within the base might be viable even for weak characters.
Bases have a lot of variability as well, and the modern standard is generally adjustable bases. Adjustable canes are very handy if your character regularly changes shoe height, for instance (gotta keep the height at your hip!)
Canes help on most terrain with their standard base and structure. But for some terrain, you might want a different base, or to forego the cane entirely! This article covers it pretty well.
Many cane users decorate their canes! Stickers are incredibly common, and painting canes is relatively common as well! You'll also see people replacing the standard wrist strap with a personalized one, or even adding a small charm to the ring the strap connects to. (nothing too large, or it gets annoying as the cane is swinging around everywhere)
(my canes, for reference)
If your character uses a cane full time, then they might also have multiple canes that look different aesthetically to match their outfits!
When it comes to practical things outside of the cane, you reasonably only have one hand available while it's being used. Many people will hook their cane onto their arm or let it dangle on the strap (if they have one) while using their cane arm, but it's often significantly less convenient than 2 hands. But, if you need 2 hands, then it's either setting the cane down or letting it hang!
For this reason, optimizing one handed use is ideal! Keeping bags/items on the side of your free hand helps keep your items accessible.
When sitting, the cane either leans against a wall or table, goes under the chair, or hooks onto the back of the chair. (It often falls when hanging off of a chair, in my experience)
When getting up, the user will either use their cane to help them balance/support as they stand, or get up and then grab their cane. This depends on what it's being used for (balance vs pain when walking, for instance!)
That's everything I can think of for now. Thank you for reading my long-but-absolutely-not-comprehensive list of things to keep in mind when writing or drawing a cane user!
Happy disability pride month! Go forth and make more characters use canes!!!

Think Outside The Screen: Code Your Future
Coding is like building with superpowers:
Remember the LEGO Castle? Coding allows children to take their creations to a new level. Consider the same castle, but now it can be programmed to light up in different colours or play a bespoke fanfare as the drawbridge lowers. Coding allows children to add another degree of interactivity and imagination to their physical creations.
Example- Have your child create a maze out of cardboard boxes. Then, assist them in programming a little Robot (there are plenty of kid-friendly versions available) to navigate the maze. This mixes physical building with the excitement of Programming and Problem-Solving.
2. Coding makers Problem-Solvers, not just Gamers:
Coding is similar to putting together a large puzzle. Kids have a goal (e.g., getting that robot to navigate the maze), and they must break it down into smaller, reasonable steps. This teaches children valuable problem-solving abilities that can be utilised in a variety of situations, not just Gaming.
Example- Encourage your child to create a basic animation. Perhaps it’s a bouncing ball or a fish moving across the screen. Even with these rudimentary programmes, they must think rationally about cause and effect, how to break down movement into steps, and how to Debug mistakes.
3. Coding is the new math ( and it’s fun!):
Let’s be honest: conventional maths drills can be a little tedious. Coding, on the other hand, adds a sense of purpose and enjoyment to the learning of math principles. To bring their code to life, kids employ variables, loops, and conditional statements, which are all mathematical building elements.
Example: There are numerous coding programmes created expressly to teach arithmetic subjects. One example could be assisting a character in collecting a specific number of coins or calculating the trajectory of a rocket launch. This gamifies learning and creates a new connection with maths.
4. Coding Boosts Confidence and Creativity:
When a child sees their code come to life, something magical occurs. It is a recognition of their hard work and innovation. Coding allows individuals to create something from scratch, express themselves in new ways, and overcome obstacles. This newfound confidence spreads into other aspects of their lives.
So, how do we get started?
The good news is that Coding Education is now more accessible than ever. There are various online platforms like Makers’ Muse geared exclusively at children. Even unplugged activities, such as coding board games, can convey fundamental principles in a fun and interactive manner.
Are you ready to see your youngster become a coding superhero? Coding for Kids helps to develop extraordinary qualities such as resilience, tenacity, and adaptability. When they come into a bug or a difficult problem, rather than giving up, they roll up their sleeves and dive back in, equipped with tenacity and grit.
And the best part? These amazing talents go far beyond coding, allowing your youngster to face any obstacle with confidence and perseverance.

Ok this, except take out the claws and superpowers. In this world, only weapons separate from the body transfer as the magic cannot manipulate a human body for 2 reasons. One, because the modifications could unbalance the partner or possibly be useless which would be counter effective in protecting their soulmate, and 2, because some superpowers physically cannot be handled by the body. Superman is an alien with skin like steel. His super strength is because his muscles are literally made of an incredibly strong and durable material that can handle more strain than a normal person. So the human limiters are a bit further back than a normal person. If a normal person then gains his super strength without any other powers (because those powers were not used), they could end up seriously hurting themselves. Same with powers like martian manhunter’s shapeshifting. The human body just can’t change it’s molecular structure like that. So only objects or items separate from the human body transfer, and always a copy.
Now, the bat family is confused by what Danny sends. Every few months, they would occasionally get a weird invention like from a sci-fi movie (because there is no way the portal is the first time Danny got hurt by Fenton inventions) and then one day…it was meat. No one knows why, but suddenly, Jason started practically getting smothered in mountains and mountains of meat. He gave most of it to the kids of crime alley and some to Alfred to cook, it was pretty decent meat after they checked it wasn’t poisoned or dangerous since apparently his soulmate was hurt by it?!
And at first, Jason thought it was fine. People have weird days all the time. (He wondered if his soulmate ever got ketchup and mustard from when he fought condiment king?) So Jason tried not to think about it. And then things got weirder. First it was the boxes…so…so many boxes….but at least now he had plenty of things to put his weapons in. Then he got more high tech gear, stuff he wouldn’t be surprised if Deathshot or a bounty Hunter had, various garage sale appliances??? A computer. Multiple computers. A guitar with flame patterns (the same guitar over and over?) MORE BOXES! A motorcycle (that Jason absolutely kept). And so much weird tech that often shit glowing green goo.
Meanwhile, Danny wonders what in the world his soulmate is doing because he’s been getting guns and knifes since he was 10. And yes, full on guns (because some people actually hit others with the butt of the gun).
Short DPXDC Prompts #191
Soulmate au: you get injured, the soulmate keeps the weapon that injures them. Danny has a drawer in his room that’s filled with used bullets and knives and every weapon under the sun and his parents and himself are VERY concerned for his soulmates being. You know when like fairies walk and flowers spring up from their footsteps? Yeah Danny is like that but with weaponry and it’s very worrying.
#dcxdp#dpxdc#soulmate au#danny fenton#batfam#Is this an au where Danny gets vivisected and Jason gets his scalpels? Who knows!#although Jason would likely assume it’s surgery until they start showing up with pliers#and things from a torture chamber or morgue.

Ugly Man Chronicles Reignition Book 2 Chapter 4: Break Down
Yep, still doing it. The magic system is sorta explained.
Evan didn’t feel good. Not physically--at least, that wasn’t what was bothering him. He was still a little sore from the end result of his fight with Moreno, which was new, though he put it down to being the hardest he’d ‘died’ so far. In the two days since he’d broken nearly every bone in his body, the pain had steadily receded; in a day, he estimated, it would be nothing but an unpleasant memory.
An unpleasant memory was the source of his unease, actually. While he’d been lying on the pavement, groan-screaming as his spinal cord knitted itself back together, he’d watched Titus cut an ear off Moreno’s mangled corpse, sprinkle the body with a blue substance he’d called “barghest powder”, and with a muttered word, set the whole thing alight with an eerily silent, heatless gray flame. In less than a minute, the body was reduced to a pile of ash and blackened bones, which Titus brushed and stomped down a nearby sewer drain, respectively.
He’d killed Moreno and Titus had literally thrown him away. Over the two days since then, Titus had made a concerted effort to assure Evan that Moreno had deserved worse than he’d got. And Evan was trying to make peace with the idea that he was going to run into people who there wouldn’t be any ‘normal’ way of dealing with; even if he’d somehow subdued Moreno and handed him over to the authorities (and convinced them to arrest him, though that probably wouldn’t have been too hard; his search for information on Moreno had turned up a laundry list of warrants), it would be child’s play for Moreno to break out of captivity once he’d recovered his strength. As it stood, probably the only way to mitigate the harm someone like Moreno could cause was to take him off the board permanently.
Evan accepted that, as things stood, the only way he could effectively neutralize a sadistic sociopath with supernatural capabilities was to kill them. He just wasn’t particularly happy about it.
To that end of “making it easier to kill things/people with superpowers”, he’d tried to recreate the huge punch he’d used to mangle Moreno, but nothing had come of it. Evan figured that it had to be tied to the memory of his boxing match, but no matter how hard he concentrated on that day, he couldn’t pull it off. Maybe it had to do with the source of the pain? Maybe he wasn’t getting close enough to death? Maybe it had to be used against the source of the pain, as opposed to random trees that happened nearby? There were too many variables, and Titus had started to complain about the amount of bullets the experiment was wasting, so Evan had decided to move on to Plan B: better weapons.
To that end, he’d decided to rebuilt the MANUS and give it an upgrade; to that end, they had made a detour to a salvage yard. And now Evan was covered in mud up to his knees, crawling and climbing around piles of barely-useful scrap metal and discarded appliances, searching for... well, he had ideas, and he was pretty sure he’d know when he saw something that was useful to him. Those mechanical engineering classes weren’t that long ago, after all.
Unfortunately, such an intuition-based method of searching didn’t lend itself well to collaboration, which meant Evan was wading through (and, with frustrating regularity, falling into) the mud in the baking sun while Titus sat in a rented UTV, flipping through sheaves of Evan’s notes and sipping from a water bottle that Evan was pretty sure contained Colt 45.
The suspension squeaked and protested as Evan dropped what felt like a hundred pounds of scrap onto the back.
“Find anything?”
“Jinx!”
“...”
“Oka--“
“Fuck!” Laughing, Titus finally broke the linguistic stalemate. “You first.”
“Eh, some half-decent sheet metal I can make the frame for a new Ma--gauntlet out of,” Evan said, stopping himself from saying ‘MANUS’. Titus had given him shit for “the most contrived acronym I’ve heard outside of Marvel comics” and he didn’t really feel like putting up with that right now. “A couple small motors I might be able to make work, a couple sawblades I’ve got some ideas for... you?”
Titus grimaced. “Maybe? Like... I can recognize some of this, but... the structure makes no sense to me. There’s these symbols I’ve never seen before and they’re sprinkled all over the place. If I could read magic--like, the actual spell--it’d be no problem, but...”
“Those aren’t magic,” Evan said, taking a sheet of paper from Titus’s hand. Among the arcane glyphs and half-coherent, borderline-microscopic notes were symbols that looked like a small grid of sixteen-by-sixteen squares. Dots, Xes, and other simple symbols not much bigger than a comma filled the grids. Evan laughed to himself in disbelief.
“Then what the hell is it?”
“It’s my personal reference system. Did I tell you I was on, like, a lot of drugs when I was in college? And grad school? And when I was working on my doctoral thesis? I came up with this... pattern that made sense to me, telling me where I might find connections between different pieces of information. We’re talking like, research chemical drugs, by the way. Shit that doesn’t have names yet. Hah. I can’t believe I... well, the previous me still remembered it!”
“Can the current you remember it? ”
“I think so.” Evan took more pages from Titus’s hands. “Okay, so...” He walked around to the front of the UAV and spread the pages out on its small hood. “Look, this means it’s related to this...”
A few minutes later, Evan had arranged the pages and connected various passages with pencil lines, forming an intricate grid of reference that he was enthusiastically trying to explain to a befuddled Titus.
“Man, you’re, like, a special kind of autistic, aren’t you?”
“The most special. Now don’t be an ass. Does this make any sense to you?”
“It’s... starting to, I guess,” Titus said, running his fingers along some of the connecting lines. “I think... huh. Huh.” He turned to look at Evan again, peering at him with what almost looked like suspicion.
“What?”
“You’re sure you don’t know anything about magic? Really?”
“If I did, I forgot it when I cored out my own brain. Why? What’s wrong?”
Titus exhaled loudly through his nose and pursed his lips, rocking back and forth on the balls of his feet as he looked back at the pages.
“This isn’t just instructions. It’s... well, I think it is the spell.”
“What, like... it’s already been cast?”
“Not quite, but... it’s primed, I guess you could say?” Titus picked up the pages and looked around. “We need to spread these out. Find me something to set them on that’s not the ground.”
“So why’s that weird?” Evan asked, grunting as he rock-walked a gutted washing machine off of a nearby scrap pile.
“Well, it’s not just a matter of writing things down--No, we’re gonna need to put each of these on their own separate thing, I’m gonna need like thirty feet--to make a spell work. Just the directions themselves are a starting point. Look, grab that big cable-coil thing and turn it on its side. From this point you’d need to either gather the reagents and go through a whole ritual and cast it right then and there, or, if you’re good, you could do that whole thing and store that spell so it could be cast immediately later.”
“And this one’s the latter?”
Titus absently tugged at his goatee. “Yeah... and that’s what’s weird about this. You didn’t have any experience in magic before, and if you only learned about it within the last year...” He inhaled deeply through his nose and stood very still for a moment, then exhaled sharply and clapped his hands. “Fuck it. Let’s see what this does!”
“Wait, you’re gonna just do it? Isn’t that dangerous?”
Titus sighed and rolled his eye. “Look, okay, let me explain why this isn’t likely to kill us or rip a hole in reality. This spell is what you’d call fundamental magic.”
“So, what, like, really beginner stuff?”
“Oh no, far from it,” Titus said, giving another chuckle that sounded like it was halfway between wonder and worry. “I mean fundamental as in ‘the fundamental laws of reality’. Magic that lets you ignore one of the big rules. Like gravity, friction, things like that. This is some serious shit you’ve got here, buddy.”
Evan went very still and very quiet. He was staring, eyes open just a little wider than normal, at the ground in the middle of the impromptu magic circle. “Which law does this one work on?” he said, barely above a whisper.
“You’ll see.”
“Dude, you can’t do that. Don’t fucking blueball me.”
“Didn’t you say that’s your ground state of being?”
“Stop fucking doing that. Stop dodging my every question with a lame one-liner.”
Titus put his hand to his chest in a gesture of mock offense, as if the very idea that his one-liners were lame was deeply wounding. “Look, alright, trust me, this is going to be worth the surprise! Just find me something that... okay, find me a machine that works. Something that you can observe working.”
Evan exhaled through his teeth. “Dude, we’re in a junkyard. The whole point of this place is it’s full of things that don’t work.”
“You got that wrist-wrecker on you?”
Evan slowly reached around to the small of his back, his hand coming back holding his revolver. “Whatever you’re going to do, it’s not going to break it or anything, is it?”
“Naaaahhh. If anything, it’s gonna make it way better. I think. C’mon, put it there in the middle!” Titus was clearly getting impatient, rocking from foot to foot like a kid on Christmas morning waiting to be told he could open his presents.
Evan brushed some dirt away before setting the gun down, an ultimately pointless gesture, but one he felt was owed; he’d never been a ‘gun guy’, but the massive revolver was one of the first things he’d encountered when he first ‘woke up’ and he’d sort of imprinted on it as a sort of security blanket. The fact that he’d fired it too few times to even require reloading--and that Titus had used it to punch a hole the size of a silver dollar through him--didn’t matter much. It wasn’t about utility; it was all sentiment. That overcompensating hunk of metal was a very real thing in a world that felt increasingly unreal.
So it was with trepidation that he stepped back outside the circle. He turned to ask Titus something, but his question caught in his throat when he saw Titus.
The smaller man’s unpatched eye had rolled back in his head and a faint pale-green light was seeping from both the socket and beneath the eyepatch. His hair fluttered and flitted upward, as if he was standing over an exhaust vent. He was muttering under his breath and his hands, held out at waist height, twitched and spasmed. As Evan watched, Titus’s fingers began making more deliberate movements, tracing out bizarre patterns that hung half-visible in the air like the after-image of a camera flash. Evan thought could hear his joints cracking as his fingers twisted themselves in ways that taxed even Titus’s freakish flexibility.
Evan stared, mouth half-open. He heard himself mutter, “...and all who heard should see them there, and all should cry, beware, beware...”
Titus’s chanting was only slightly louder than it started, but it seemed to be reverberating. Evan whirled around, swearing to himself that he heard whispering right behind his shoulder. Whatever language Titus was speaking, it wasn’t one he knew, but it felt old. As the chanting grew more intense, Evan felt like he was getting tunnel vision. He knew that it wasn’t actually getting darker, but his peripheral vision was shrinking. Was he imagining the way the air was bending? He was getting a sense of vertigo, like his perception of everything was getting infinitely taller without actually moving. That tattoo on his arm felt like it was coursing with frozen electricity.
Titus suddenly shouted a word that Evan could recognize and clapped his hands. Reality lurched. Evan stumbled forward and bent double with nausea.
“Hooo!” Titus clapped again, dancing a formless jig as Evan noisily wretched and spit stomach acid.
“Does that usually... did it work?” Evan squinted through watery eyes at the space where, just a moment ago, his gun had lain. “Hey! Where’d it go?”
“Go look closer,” Titus said, a grin threatening to split his head in half.
Evan walked carefully towards the spot at the center of the circle. The air felt somehow greasy and smelled like a thunderstorm was rolling in. There was an unpleasant buzzing on the edge of hearing, like a fly trapped between the panes of a closed window. His teeth itched.
Evan squatted down and picked up something a little over an inch long and held it between his fingers, holding it up to the light.
“No. Fucking. Way.”
It was his gun, reduced down to 1/20th scale. He gingerly reached a finger out and turned the cylinder, grinning and laughing at the tiny click. He very delicately pushed the hammer back, then reached into his pocket and pulled out a mechanical pencil, clicking it a couple of times to extend the lead.
Titus, who had been turning his own hands back and forth, staring at them quizzically, looked up. “Hey, wait! Don’t--“
Evan stuck the lead into the trigger guard and pushed the trigger back.
The sound was odd. It started out a quiet crack that seemed to experience the Doppler effect in a different direction, its pitch stretching as it roared to full volume. A very regular-sized bullet split the wood of the impromptu table.
“Holy fuck! What was that?”
“The spell only affects the gun and things inside it! The bullet left it, so it stopped affecting it!” Titus yelled, wiggling a finger in his ear. “Be careful! It still functions just the same way it did at full size!”
“Yeah, I can see that,” Evan said, distractedly. The barrel of the gun even felt hot in the palm of his hand. “So that spell ignores... conservation of mass. Jesus Christ.”
“Yep. I know you were, like, studying to be a scientist, but don’t think about it too hard. You’ll give yourself a migraine.”
“What do you mean, ‘studying to be’? The only reason you’re not referring to me as Doctor Abrams is--wait. How do I get it back to normal?”
“You remember that last word I said before I finished casting?”
Evan’s brow furrowed. “It sounded like... ‘stanza’?”
He yelped as he suddenly found himself holding a full-sized S&W 500. “Ha-HAAAA! A gen-u-ine, bona-fide fuckin’ magic weapon!” he yelled, jumping to his feet. “Stanza!” The gun was suddenly fun-sized again. “Stanza!” Gun-sized. “St--”
“Shutup! It only works a few times a day!” Titus hissed.
Evan looked up at him with an exaggerated pout. “Fiiiiine. Why do you keep looking at your hands like that?”
“Okay, so... you know how I said this spell had all the juice needed to cast it wrapped up in it? It had... more than that. A lot more.”
“So what’s that mean? Are you, like, more powerful now?”
Titus tilted his head and waggled his hand. “Not... generally. But there’s like a... separate pool designated for that spell of... well, I guess calling it ‘mana’ is the easiest explanation.”
“That makes sense, I guess. So that’s separate from your, uh, normal pool?”
“Yeah, and... it’s big, man. That was a hungry spell and I think I could do it three or four more times before having to recharge.”
“Oh, Jesus, man, if... God, think of... I’ve got so many ideas!” Evan said, unable to keep the excitement from his voice. “Do you have any idea how big of a deal this is? Being able to fit a full-sized computer in an inch of space is--“
Titus held up his hand, cutting him off. “Wait.”
“Wha--” Evan started, then realized his tattoo was itching again. “What’s going--“
“Something’s coming!”
It wasn’t like a bolt of lightning. Not quite. It looked more like a several streams of fire the color of a raincloud pouring out of thin air, earthing themselves in a pile of broken appliances and scrap metal. The ping and clunk of cooling metal was all Evan and Titus could hear as they crept closer.
“What do you think it--fuck!” Evan reached out to shove Titus aside, but he’d already blinked several feet away, throwing himself to the ground. So it was only Evan who got hit by the tendril of debris that suddenly snaked out of the junk pile. It was nearly as wide as his torso and hit like a truck, scooping him off his feet and pinning him to the ground with force that broke at least a couple of his ribs.
Titus had gotten to one knee and was firing at the tendril with one of the pistols he always seemed to pull out of nowhere, but all that seemed to accomplish besides a couple of ricochets was to provoke the mass to extend another arm and swipe down at him from above. He blinked out again but lost his footing as he leapt, crashing to the ground and losing his grip on the gun.
“Disjunct it!”
“I’m trying! It’s got like a... shell or something! I can’t get through!”
Desperately trying to keep the thing from crushing him further, Evan raised his own gun and fired point-blank into the mass of the tendril. Aside from nearly breaking his wrist from the recoil, there seemed to be no effect; the bullets either bounced punched through sheet metal or simply slid between the gaps in the junk that floated in the strange light as though bobbing just below the surface of water.
“Don’t know what I expected,” Evan grumbled, tossing his gun away. Time for another approach, then.
It was hard to concentrate while the thing was steadily pushing him deeper into the mud, but Evan summoned up his will and concentrated on the idea of his Cables wrapping around his left forearm. He wound them tight, compressed them, and then swung his fist upward and let the tension unwind.
The impact drove enough of the junk into the air to allow him to scramble to his feet, but it didn’t even leave the cohesion of the gray light. It hung in the air for a moment, then rebounded as if on elastic, slamming back into a tree-trunk-sized tendril once again.
“Well, that seemed to do something,” Titus said as they both jumped backward, trying to get out of the thing’s thrashing reach. “Maybe a few more of those’ll soften it up and...”
“Probably not a real tenable strategy,” Evan hissed through clenched teeth. Titus saw that the punch had probably done more damage to Evan than the monster--his forearm hung at an angle that made it look as though he’d grown a second elbow between the first and his wrist, and none of his fingers were pointing close to the right direction. Over the strange din of the animate debris scraping together, the crickle-crack of tendons snapping bone back into place was audible.
“No chance you figured out how to that big pain-punch again?”
“None! And I don’t think just hitting it is gonna work! We’re just gonna be breaking what it’s made of! Do you have anything that can actually damage magic?”
“Nothing that works anywhere near as quick as we need!”
They both dove behind another heap of scrap. “I think I might have an idea, but I honestly don’t know what this’ll do, or if it’ll even work at all,” Evan said. “I don’t want to have to run away from this thing and leave it here, but if this doesn’t work...”
“Yeah, I got it. What’s your plan?”
Evan clenched his right fist, his misshapen jaw popping as he gritted his teeth together with effort. “Instead of a coiled spring that just makes my punch stronger,” he hissed through his teeth, “what about if I hit it with the Cables instead?”
Titus squinted at Evan’s fist, then blanched. “Oh no, dude, don’t do that. If that’s really your soul you’re working with--”
Evan suddenly sprung to his feet and sprinted around the heap, screaming wordless defiance. Titus swore and slipped out of time briefly so he could stand up and pull another handgun from his jacket in time to provide Evan with covering fire, for whatever that was worth.
Evan juked another swing from a tendril, then planted his foot on it and used it a springboard to launch himself into the air. His right arm swung overhead in a long, sweeping arc, and he brought his hand down like a hammer on top of the scrap pile and let the Cables wrapped in a ball around his fist unwind.
The scrap pile buckled like an anthill sprayed with a hose. Though no sound aside from pulverizing scrap could be heard by the human ear, a psychic wail of pain and rage seemed to scrape across both men’s minds as the gray light rippled and dimmed at the point of Evan’s hammerblow. Barely keeping his footing on the shifting rubble, Evan drove his left hand down into the mass, forcing what remaining will he could muster into the idea of his arm.
He met surprisingly little resistance. Unlike when he’d shut off Titus’s powers, there was next to nothing to sense here. It seemed to be barely a being at all. When his ethereal arm touched something cold and writhing amongst the half-sensed notions of metal and creeping lightning, he closed his thought-fingers around it and yanked.
The was no more fanfare. The light completely vanished, and with it, the remainder of the force holding the pile of junk together. Evan felt a familiar sensation of something sliding from his grip into the core of his being before he toppled backwards and was buried in the shifting scrap.
“Come on, I know that couldn’t’ve hurt you that much,” Titus said, tossing aside a rust-eaten sink and uncovering Evan’s face. Evan hadn’t seemed to be able to free himself from the rubble, and Titus was forced to follow the sound of muffled sobbing to figure out where to dig. Evan crying was such a strange sound that it made the hair on the back on Titus’s neck stand up; it started with a drawn-out, warbling moan, leading to wheezing sobs that were accompanied by high-pitched hitching gasps and a strange whistling noise that Titus put down to the bridge of Evan’s nose resembling a stretched-out letter Z. “Did that shut off your healing or something? Come on, get up.”
Evan didn’t move for a moment, then sniffed loudly and listlessly reached up and took Titus’s hand. “What’s the point?” he muttered, letting himself be pulled upwards.
“Huh?”
“What’s the point of this? What am I even doing this for?” Evan said morosely, sluggishly following Titus across the pile of debris. “What difference can I actually make?!”
Titus turned as he walked, eyeing Evan with something that might have been concern. “What’re you talking about? You beat that thing! Hell, Moreno gave you more trouble! Why would you have a crisis of confidence over this?”
“It’s not about that,” Evan spat, sulkily, “I mean this whole hero thing! Did I seriously think I could save the fucking world? Jesus Christ, I’m a murderer!”
“How man times am I gonna—”
“Stop telling me he deserved it! That doesn’t matter! What about all the people who’ll wonder what happened to him, the people who’ll miss him? What about his parents?”
“They’re both dead,” Titus said, flatly.
“Oh, sure, that’s real convenient, you—”
“I can show you both of their obituaries. They were both dead before w—he was out of high school.”
Evan sniffed. “Do you… do you think that’s why he—”
“Look, man, I’m not a psychiatrist! But speaking of, what’s wrong with you? I know you’ve got a big heart and all, but why now?”
“I-I-I don’t know!” Evan stammered, choking back a sob. “Everything just feels so… so… hopeless and pointless and… sad!”
Titus’s frown deepened. “What, did you get rapid-onset depression somehow?”
“Is this what that feels like? How do people live like this?”
Titus muttered something Evan couldn’t hear and walked up to him, grabbing his left wrist. “Circle,” he commanded, lifting Evan’s hand to his face. Evan obediently touched the tip of his thumb and forefinger together and Titus peered through the hole, scanning Evan up and down.
“Oh.”
“What? What?!”
“Okay, don’t freak out about this, but—”
“You’ve just made sure I do! What is it?”
“Look at your right hand.”
Evan raised his fingers to his eye, then looked down at his right hand. He began to shake.
The Cables near his right hand had unraveled, spreading out into the surrounding air like drifting cornsilk, barely anchored to the rest of the mass.
“Ohhhhh fuck oh fuck oh fuck ooooohhhhh God what is that what did I—”
“Evan!” Titus grabbed the side of Evan’s head and forced him to look at him. “Look at me! Listen! I don’t know but it’s probably not permanent! This sort of thing can heal like your body does! You’ll probably be fine!”
“Probably?!” Evan shrieked, his voice surprisingly high and shrill. “I think I broke my soul!”
“You didn’t break anything! Look at me!” Titus yelled. “You might have injured it, but it will probably heal!”
“You don’t know that!” Evan wailed.
“And you don’t know it won’t! Listen! Astral bodies, or however you wanna categorize all this shit, are living things! They have analogies to physical processes! You may have just, I don’t know, sprained something! Nothing’s gone, it just needs to come back together!”
“Are you saying depressed people have, what, bruised souls? That seems kind of insulting!”
“Don’t get fucking combative with me!” Titus snapped. “That is not what I’m saying! I’m saying that you did something reckless and banged up what we’re assuming is the physical manifestation of your immortal soul, and you’re experiencing what I’d describe as common symptoms of depression, and it’s not hard to put two and two together! You gave yourself actual psychic damage, if that’s how you want to think about it!”
“So you’re saying it’s all my fault…”
“God dammit, man!” Titus threw his hands up in the air. “Look, think about this logically. You’re obvious not yourself right now, right?”
Evan sighed. “I dunno… maybe this is—”
“Aha!” Titus thrust a finger at Evan. “See? I know we haven’t known each other long, but in that whole time, you’ve never doubted yourself! Wondered if you made the wrong decision or were doing the right thing, sure, but never were unsure of who you are, right?”
Evan blinked bleary eyes at him. “I… I’m not sure I know what you’re talking about.”
“Come on, come on,” Titus wrapped an arm around Evan’s shoulder and guided him back to the UTV. “Let’s get you back home and to bed. I bet you’ll feel better after a nap.”
“I need a drink.”
“No alcohol! Straight to bed with you, mister!”
---------------------------------------------------------
“Ugh. God, that was awful. And embarrassing,” Evan muttered, rubbing his eyes. “Thanks for looking out for me, Titus.”
“Yeah, no problem,” Titus said from the driver’s seat. “Had me freaking out there for a bit, I gotta admit. I really had no idea if what I was saying was right or not. You feeling better?”
“Not all the way, but I think I’ll get there. Enough to realize that what I was saying and feeling wasn’t really me. Now I just feel mentally exhausted. Probably gonna go back to bed soon.”
“How’s your, uh, soul lookin’?”
Evan peered through his fingers at his hand. “Coming back together. Not wound tight yet, but it looks like you were right. It’s getting there.” He patted Titus on the shoulder. “Seriously, man. Thank you. I was in a real bad place there for a bit. I don’t know what I’d’ve done it you weren’t there.”
“Aw, don’t get all sappy on me, you big fugly lug,” Titus tried to sound grumpy, but couldn’t help but manage a smile. “Why don’t you go lay back down? We’ll be crossing the state line in a couple hours. After that I’ll find a rest stop to park for a few hours.”
“Yeah, sounds good,” Evan yawned. “Thanks again. Man, I am so glad that was temporary…”
After the door shut, Titus muttered to himself, “At least you can sleep it off.”

The Symphony of Success: Unveiling the Magic of Soft Skills
Introduction: In the grand tapestry of personal and professional development, soft skills are the often underestimated but indispensable threads that weave together triumph and growth. They are the subtle yet powerful attributes that shape our interactions, drive collaboration, and lead us towards excellence. In this comprehensive exploration, we will delve deep into the world of soft skills, understanding their profound importance, the myriad advantages they bring, their relevance in the future landscape, their wide-ranging scope, and why they are the bridge to unlocking personal and professional success.
Advantages of Soft Skills: The Power Within
Soft skills are the hidden superpowers that set the stage for success in every facet of life. They form the foundation upon which strong relationships, effective communication, and lasting connections are built. Let's explore some of the key advantages that soft skills bring to the table.
1. Effective Communication: Effective communication is the cornerstone of success in both personal and professional domains. The ability to articulate thoughts clearly, listen actively, and express oneself with confidence not only fosters understanding but also minimizes misunderstandings. It paves the way for healthy relationships and constructive interactions.
2. Collaboration and Teamwork: In today's interconnected world, collaboration is key. Soft skills like teamwork, adaptability, and conflict resolution enable individuals to work seamlessly with others, regardless of differences in background, culture, or opinions. It's not just about working side by side; it's about working hand in hand, leveraging collective strengths for shared success.
3. Emotional Intelligence: Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize, understand, and manage one's emotions while empathizing with the emotions of others. It's a crucial skill that enables individuals to navigate complex social situations, build trust, and forge deeper connections. Those with high emotional intelligence can effectively handle stressful situations, build strong teams, and lead with empathy.
4. Leadership: Leadership is not just about authority; it's about influence. Soft skills empower individuals to become effective leaders by enhancing their interpersonal abilities. A great leader inspires, motivates, and guides their team towards shared goals. Soft skills such as effective communication, empathy, and adaptability are the pillars upon which great leadership is built.
Transition: As we navigate the ever-changing landscape of the professional world, it becomes evident that the demand for soft skills is not just current; it's growing.
Future of Soft Skills: The Essential Currency of Tomorrow
In an era marked by rapid technological advancements and automation, the role of soft skills is becoming increasingly vital. While machines excel in logic and data analysis, they fall short when it comes to understanding the intricacies of human interaction. This is where soft skills shine, offering a unique competitive advantage.
1. The Virtual Workplace: The rise of remote work and virtual communication has highlighted the importance of soft skills. In a world where face-to-face interactions are limited, the ability to build trust, convey emotions, and collaborate effectively through digital channels becomes essential. Soft skills like virtual communication, adaptability, and empathy bridge the gap created by physical distance.
2. Creativity and Innovation: As routine tasks become automated, creativity and innovation are emerging as the driving forces behind progress. Soft skills such as creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking are the catalysts for groundbreaking ideas and solutions. They empower individuals to think outside the box, question the status quo, and drive innovation in their respective fields.
3. Adapting to Change: The pace of change in the professional world is relentless. Soft skills like adaptability and resilience enable individuals to thrive in dynamic environments. Those who can quickly learn new skills, embrace change, and navigate uncertainty are poised for success in the ever-evolving job market.
4. Building Trust in a Digital Age: In an age where online interactions are the norm, building and maintaining trust is paramount. Soft skills like empathy, active listening, and effective communication are the cornerstones of trust-building. They enable individuals to connect on a deeper level, even in a virtual world.
Transition: The scope of soft skills extends far beyond individual career paths; they are universal tools for success.
Scope of Soft Skills: The Universal Toolkit for Success
The beauty of soft skills lies in their versatility. They are not limited to specific industries or job roles; instead, they are the universal language of success that transcends boundaries. Whether you're in finance, technology, healthcare, or the arts, soft skills play a pivotal role in shaping your journey.
1. Cross-Industry Applicability: Soft skills are not confined to job titles or industry-specific jargon. Leadership, for instance, is as crucial in the boardroom as it is on the stage of a theater production. The ability to inspire, guide, and motivate is universally valuable. Similarly, effective communication is a currency that holds its value in any sector, enabling individuals to convey ideas, build rapport, and foster collaboration.
2. Career Advancement: Soft skills are often the differentiators that propel individuals forward in their careers. They are the qualities that catch the eye of employers, clients, and colleagues. In a competitive job market, possessing strong soft skills can be the key to landing your dream job, securing promotions, and advancing in your chosen field.
3. Entrepreneurship and Innovation: For entrepreneurs, soft skills are the building blocks of success. The ability to pitch ideas persuasively, negotiate effectively, and build strong networks can make or break a startup. Innovation often starts with a creative mindset and the ability to see opportunities where others see challenges, making soft skills indispensable for entrepreneurial endeavors.
4. Personal Development: Beyond the professional realm, soft skills contribute to personal growth and fulfillment. They enhance relationships, boost self-confidence, and improve overall well-being. As you develop your soft skills, you not only become a more effective professional but also a more empathetic and fulfilled individual.
Transition: In conclusion, the mastery of soft skills is not just an option; it's a necessity in today's fast-paced and interconnected world.
Conclusion: Unlocking Your Potential with Soft Skills
In the grand symphony of personal and professional growth, soft skills compose the melody that resonates across industries and time. The advantages are clear – enhanced communication, seamless collaboration, and the ability to lead with empathy. As we step into the future, where the dynamics of the workplace are evolving, soft skills emerge as the X-factor, differentiating between success and mere survival.
The scope of soft skills is limitless. They are not confined to job titles or industry jargons but are the universal toolkit for success. The future belongs to those who can navigate the digital landscape with emotional intelligence, communicate effectively in virtual realms, and collaborate seamlessly across borders.
