Herbivore · Aquarius Cleanser, Nova Serum, Super Nova Eye Cream & Orchid Facial Oil
I’m relatively new to Herbivore Botanicals (previously reviewed here), but what I have tried to date, has absolutely impressed me. This summer so far we’ve been rocked with high temperatures, intense humidity, and extreme smog due to raging wildfires — all of which tends to play havoc with everything, including our skin. That’s where these products shine, as they help to provide relief from all…

Arcturus Talon Abraxas
Arcturus is the fourth brightest star in the sky: only Sirius, Canopus and Alpha Centauri outshine this orange giant. It is a variable star in the last stages of its life.
Arcturus takes its name from its nearness to the sky Bears, Big and Little Bears, Ursa Major, and Ursa Minor. From Arktouros or Arctophilax, "the Bear Guard" and also called "the Bear Watcher". The "Herdsman", or "driver of oxen" are other titles. Arcturus is the brightest star in the constellation of Bootes the Herdsman so it is also called Alpha Bootis. The pattern of stars in this constellation forms the shape of a kite or an ice cream cone; seeing a Herdsman driving the bears around the sky.
Arcturus is believed to be one of the first stars named by ancient observers. It is translated as "Guardian of the Bear" and is a name that was once used for the entire constellation of Bootes. It is easily found by noting that the curve of the handle of the Big Dipper is part of a circle - an arc - and we can just "follow the arc to Arcturus."
Arcturus is a giant with a diameter about 18 times our Sun's and four times as much mass. Its surface temperature is about 1500 degrees lower than Sun's but its much greater surface area results in an outpouring of energy at a rate making it 105 times as luminous as Sun.
Recent observations by the European Space Agency's Hipparcos Space Astrometry Mission have revised Arcturus's distance to 36.7 light years from us.
Arcturus has the largest "proper motion" -- motion across the sky -- of any of the bright stars except Alpha Centauri, the nearest star to our solar system. In 100 years Arcturus moves across the sky a distance equal to about half the width of your little finger held at arm's length.
At its distance of nearly 37 light years, this motion, when combined with its motion along our line of sight measured spectroscopically using the Doppler shift, yields a space velocity of about 76 miles per second with respect to our Sun. Most stars in our vicinity are moving relatively slowly with respect to Sol because of our common motion carrying us around the center of the Milky Way galaxy every 250 million years. Arcturus is in an elongated orbit around the Galaxy's center that carries it out into the Galaxy's halo.
It was formed in the halo of the Milky Way and is an interloper in our neighborhood. It has been visible to the naked eye for only about half a million years. It will be a little closer in a few thousand years, but then will recede from our view in another half million years as it continues its journey on a different orbital path.
Arcturus's great brilliance makes it possible to obtain very detailed spectra and to determine its chemical composition. Arcturus is deficient in elements such as silicon, aluminum, and iron which are formed in stars. It contains only about a fifth as much of these elements as Sun. These elements are formed inside stars, mixed into the interstellar medium as stars explode, and incorporated into subsequent generations of stars.
This chemical composition reinforces our identification of Arcturus as a member of the galactic halo. It was formed about 10 billion years ago, in a generation of star formation prior to that in which our Sun was formed, before the interstellar medium could be enriched in elements such as silicon and iron. Arcturus, about twice as old as Earth and the solar system, is the oldest thing most of us have ever seen, and is the oldest object easily visible to the naked eye.
The constellation Bootes has the shape of a kite with the bright star Arcturus at the point of the kite where the tail is attached.
Arcturus is a red supergiant star and the fourth brightest star in the whole sky.
It is visible from the northern hemisphere in the evening from about March early summer. Red-supergiant stars are precursors to super-novae, neutron stars, and black holes (so it is believed). It is approximately thirty-six light years from Earth.
According to E W Bullinger (The Witness of the Stars ), a biblical interpreter of the constellations, the ancient Egyptians called Bootes Smat, which means 'one who rules, subdues, and governs'. They also called him Bau , which means also 'the coming one'.
It was famous with the seamen of early days and as a calender sign regulated their annual festival by its movements in relation to the sun. But its influence always was dreaded, as is seen in Aratos writings. Its acronycal rising (the latest rising visible at sunset) fixed the date of the husbandmen's Lustratio frugum; and allusions were made to its character as unfavorably affecting the farmer's work; "When moist Arcturus clouds the sky". Other contemporary authors confirmed this stormy reputation, while all classical calendar's gave the dates of its risings and settings.
An Egyptian astronomical calendar of the 15th century BC, associates it with the star Antares in the immense sky figure Menat; and Lockyer claims it as one of the objects of worship in Nile temples, as it was in the temple of Venus at Ancona in Italy.
In India it was the 13th nakshatra, Svati, "the Good Goer", or perhaps "Sword", but figured as a Coral Bead, Gem, or Pearl; and known there also as Nishtya, "Outcast", possibly from its remote northern situation far outside of the zodiac, whence, from its brilliancy, it was taken to complete the series of Hindu asterisms.
The Arabs knew Arcturus as Al Simak al Ramih *, sometimes translated the "Leg of the Lance-bearer", and again, perhaps more correctly, the "Lofty Lance-bearer".
Another Arabic name; Al Haris al Sama, the "Keeper of Heaven," perhaps came from the star's early visibility in the twilight owing to its great northern declination, as though on the lookout for the safety and proper deportment of his lesser stellar companions, and so "Patriarch Mentor of the Train." This subsequently became Al Haris al Simak, "the Keeper of Simak", probably referring to Spica, "the Unarmed One".
From the Arabic title came various forms: Al Bamec, Aramec, Aremeah, Ascimec, Azimech, and Azimeth, Somech haramach, Aramakh, Kheturus.
Al Biruni mentioned Arcturus as the Second Calf of the Lion, the early Asad (Lion) in early Arabian astronomy; Spica being the First Calf.
The Greeks had a word meaning "Javelin-bearer", while Bayer had Gladius, Kolanza, and Pugio, all applied to Arcturus, which probably marked in some early drawing the "Sword", "Lance", or "Dagger" in the Hunter's (Orion) hand. Similarly it took the title Alkameluz of the whole constellation.
It has been identified with the Chaldaeans' Papsukal, "the Guardian Messenger", the divinity of their 10th month Tibitu.
On the Euphrates it was the Shepherd of the Heavenly Flock, or the Shepherd of the Life of Heaven, undoubtedly the Sib-zi-anna of the inscriptions; the star eta (Mufrid) being often included in this, and thus making one of the several pairs of Euphratean Twin Stars.
Another title was Audiens, which seems unintelligible unless the word be a misprint for Audens, the "Bold One".
With others it was Arturig and Ariture, or the Carlwaynesterre from the early confusion in applying the title Arcturus to Charles' Wain as well as to Bootes and its lucida.
Bootes is the cultivator or Ploughman who drives the Bears, Ursa Major and Ursa Minor around the Pole Star, Polaris. The bears, tied to the Polar Axis, are pulling a plough behind them, tilling the heavenly fields "in order that the rotations of the heavens should never cease".
Manilius 1st century AD writes "they will be kings under kings and ministers of state, and be charged with the guardianship of the people, custodianship of great houses and treasures, who confine their business to the care of another's home so that the wealth of monarchs and temple finances will be in their keeping".
Any type of occupation that requires planning is influenced by Bootes. These people are the driving force behind government and large corporations. They are the planners and designers, the movers and shakers, who "make the world go round". Bootes symbolizes the elder, the sage, the wise old man who is interested in principles and underlying causes, theories, ideologies, and how the past effects the future. (Conservative) politicians, economists, draftsmen, architects, designers of all kinds.

Super Nova (Chapter 4)
Larissa Weems x OC
A.N. Hello all! Here's my last repost for this work! hopefully ill have a new chapter out for yall this time tomorrow now that I've got my shit together. again a HUGE shoutout to @bri-sonat for the amazing editing they've done along with everyone else in the Council for convincing me to actually attempt to write again. hope you enjoy!
You sat on the edge of your bed, firelight dancing around the room as you gazed down at your new professor.
After watching the poor woman collapse into herself outside, you had carried her inside to your chambers, removing her jacket, gloves, and shoes before placing her down on your bed. Despite the fact that the woman was very clearly asleep, anytime you attempted to pull your hand away, you were met with resistance, Adelaide's grip tightening around your fingers, so you stayed there on the edge of the bed.
Even now you could feel unfamiliar emotions swirling around you, mixing with your own and each time they threatened to overtake you, you fought. Though not as heart wrenching as the earlier feelings you had felt, it was clear that the woman's dreams were far from pleasant.
Lulled by the warmth of the room and the pleasant sound of the rain falling outside, your eyes started drifting closed. Just as sleep started to take you, you felt those negative feelings once again growing in your chest.
Your eyes opened at that and once again, you thought back to positive memories. Your pride after your first time successfully shapeshifting, the joy you felt graduating, and the comfort you felt returning to the school as a professor. Each memory was saturated with positive emotions to combat the other woman's negatives.
The strongest emotion appeared as you glanced down at the professor, shifting in her sleep as a frown formed on her face. Carefully you shifted on the bed, making sure not to separate your still linked hands, you gently smoothed the lines from the woman's forehead as care filled your heart, finally pushing away the last of the negativity.
A few seconds passed before a new emotion slowly appeared, confusion. You watched the woman's face as her eyes slowly fluttered open, the emotion obvious on her face even as others joined it, comfort a steady feeling even as anxiety grew to join it as her eyes met your own.
Gently, you smiled at the woman, making sure to focus on positive emotions as your thumb rubbed gentle circles on your still connected hands. You could see and feel the tension returning to the woman as she noticed the connection, quickly pulling her hand away and scooting away from you. Your hand now cold without the warmth of the professors in it.
Her eyes darted around the room, taking in her jacket draped over a chair, the fire burning in the grate, and the bed she was laying in.
Adelaide’s POV
Warmth surrounded you as light slowly seeped into your vision, your eyes fluttering open as comfort swirled around your heart. Slowly, the memories of the night came back, anxiety growing with every scene that flashed through your mind.
The first thing you see as your eyes finally open fully is the face of your new boss, gently smiling from above you, concern floating in her pale blue eyes. Emotions swirled within you, a sharp pang of panic appearing as you realized not all of them were your own. Your eyes dart down to take in her hand holding your own and you quickly jerk away, holding your hand to your chest even as your heart lurches at the loss of the warm comfort.
You quickly looked around the room you were in, still disoriented from the unfamiliar surroundings. You were in a warm ornate bedroom decorated in rich reds and creams, a fire burning in a large grate in the wall across from you. You could see your protective layers carefully draped over a chair next to the fire, no doubt drying them. The bed you were in was quite large, covered in silky creme sheets with a soft crimson throw over it.
With a sigh, you finally looked back towards the woman whose room you were no doubt encroaching in, the principal of Nevermore academy, your boss. “Headmistress, I sincerely apologize for the events of today I-” She stands up, cutting you off with a raise of her hand and you look down, cheeks burning in shame.
“Professor Florence, Adelaide, if I may?” She questions as you give a gentle nod, “there is no need to apologize, the only thing I am concerned about right now is if you are okay.” She says softly as she moves closer. You inhale sharply as you curl into yourself at her closeness.
“Yes, I'm fine.” You say with a sigh, “normally I am much more cautious about my… abilities. I must apologize for any distress that you received and I promise this is not a normal event for me.”
With a gentle sigh, Larissa straightens up. “I think it has been a very long day, if it is okay with you, I would like to continue this conversation tomorrow, however, I think it would be best for both of us to get some rest tonight.” She says as she walks over to the fire, gently grabbing your things and bringing them to you.
“Yes, ma'am,'' you say as you gently climb out of her bed. You quickly put on your layers, letting out a sigh of relief once you're fully covered again. When you look up, Larissa is waiting for you next to her now open door.
You quickly follow her through the halls of Nevermore until she suddenly stops in front of a door. “I hope you know you are not in trouble in any way, Adelaide,” she states before opening the door and allowing you into your new room. “Sweet dreams,” she says with a gentle smile before softly closing the hardwood behind her, leaving you alone to familiarize yourself with your new home.

Solar Opposites in Ultra Opposites Scene from “New Ultra Opposites Pt. 1”: Meet Master Smasher! (For @avaveevo)
Suddenly, Janice walks in upon as Terry and Randall gasp while Terry’s fake mustache falls of his face.
Janice: H’no hello Terry, I haven’t seen you y’know
Randall: Hi-I-I gets awestruck upon seeing Janice
Terry: Uh, Randall? Are you okay?
Randall: Oh uh clears his throat ahem. Nice to meet you uh-
Janice: Janice.
Cue the song “Dreamweaver”:
Randall: Whoa blushes
Terry: Dude. Don't tell me you're in love with her.
Randall: But she seem so nice
Terry: Well, she was my co-worker.
Randall: Wait? She is?
Janice: H'no, he's not wrong, y'know.
Randall: Wait? You used to work here Terry? What happened?
Terry sighs sadly and explains everything.
Terry: The Pupa had a huge meltdown!
Randall: He did?
Terry: Yeah. It turns out he wanted attention and we were forced give up sci-fi for our lives, which made our lives fucked up miserable! Our boss Mr. Sarner was even a dick!
Janice: H'no, I'm so sorry you had to go throught that, y'know.
Terry: It’s okay Janice. And the worst of all, Sarner is now now dead. I become the boss. But it went badly because it led to me and Korvo having a big fight. But we made up and we decided to give up our jobs because the Pupa doesn’t need all that.
Randall: I think you did the right thing.
Terry: Thanks. But, you don’t wanna how Sarner died
Randall: What happened to Sarner?
Terry starts crying.
Terry: tearfully A ping pong accident!
Randall gasps.
Randall: Oh my god! How?
Terry wipes away his tears.
Terry: Korvo and I wanted a ping pong table to make work less boring. So, we got people to sign a petition to have it under the boiler room and then, Sarner died playing ping pong!
Randall: If you don't mind me asking, how does someone die from playing ping pong?
Terry: Oh. You don’t wanna fucking know man! notices his fingers turning black Oh no! Not again! starts growing bigger and muscular and his skin starts turning black as his clothes rip into pieces
Randall: Terry?!
Then, Randall realizes that Terry is turning into his Mundane form because he got emotional and stress and backs away with Janice. Terry’s eyes starts glowing orange as he turns into his Mundane form and roars while banging his chest.
Janice: H'no, Terry, what happened to you, y'know?!
Mundane Terry breaths in and out while Korvo, comes in with a disguise of his own with Cherie, Nova and Montez and sees his husband transformed.
Korvo: Terry!
Korvo comes up and hugs his overwhelmed Mundane husband as he began to calm down.
Mundane Terry: Korvy...
Korvo: Oh I think this work place has brought up terrible memories of us working here huh?
Mundane Terry whimpers. Then, he breaks down crying while Korvo comforts him by soothing his face and gets out a tissue to dry his tears away.
Korvo: There there. It's gonna be okay, Terry.
Janice: H’no I had no idea Terry could do that y’know.
Korvo sighs.
Korvo: Actually he is half mundane. It runs in Terry’s family for years and as for my side of the family, we turn into monsters too.
Korvo turns into his super Shlorpian form and roars as he rips apart his robe.
Super Shlorpian Korvo: Ah...that's better.
Janice gasp.
Janice: What the fuck? points to Montez, Nova and Cherie Wait a minute are these three people?
Cherie: Oh, we’re friends of Korvo and Terry.
Nova laughs nervously.
Janice: What is going on and-
Janice suddenly sees a white board falling and suddenly lifts it up. The others gaps in horror.
Montez: Oh no. The peach n cream orb piece. It chose Janice!
Janiz: coming in What?!
Super Shlorpian Korvo: What are you doing here?!
Janiz: I was sensing the orb piece! Why?
Super Shlorpian Korvo: Just asking.
The orb piece fuses with Janice
Janice: Huh? There was a crystal under my outfit?
Then Janice starts glowing and she gets her own super suit with a superhero mask on her.
Janice/???: H’no what happened to me Y’know?
Janice then notices that she has her hair down for her super suit
Randall: blushes Whoa.
Mundane Terry and Super Shlorpian Korvo look at each other nervously, realizing it’s time to tell Janice the truth.
Mundane Terry: Holy shit. Did she just-
Super Shlorpian Korvo: sigh Yes. We have to tell her
Korvo and Terry turns back into their Shlorpian forms and transform into their superhero forms. Janice, or whoever she is now, flies in and gasp.
Janice/???: What? You’re Solar Flare and Legendary Super Shlorpian?
Solar Flare chuckles nervously.
Korvo/Legendary Super Shlorpian: Yes and the truth we didn’t move. We had to turn into humans to establish civilian identities so no one can find out it’s us.
Janice suddenly hugs Legendary Super Shlorpian.
Janice/???: It’s okay. I know you were trying to protect yourselves, but what do you mean by human forms?
Solar Flare and Legendary Super Shlorpian turns back into their normal selves and turn into their human forms. Janice gasp.
Human Terry: Okay. So now we need a plan.
Janice/???: What do you mean?
Janiz turns into her human form which made Janice gasp.
Human Janiz: Hey, Janice.
Janice/???: Wait? You’re an alien too?
Human Korvo: Yes. She is also my older sister.
Janice/???: H’no, I think I’m gonna faint, y’know.
Randall however turns into Ultra Man and catches Janice as she wakes up and grows shock. Janice and Ultra Man blush.
Janice/???: Oh you too?
Randall/Ultra Man: Yeah. points to Montez, Cherie and Nova So are these three.
Cherie, Montez, and Nova turn into their superhero forms.
Janice/???: Wait? So I’ll one of you now? Oh dear I need to think about this
Nova/Lady Roseus: Take time Janice. Right now, we have to find the other orb pieces before the Princess and her people gets hurt! Come on!

Nova only remembered the brief period of time she was with TJ. To her, TJ was her prince. And she knew her prince had many duties, even as he did get beat up. She herself didn't except to take a number herself in the form of her powers (?)
There was a fear that TJ wouldn't hug her back, because she's a freak now. But being in TJ's arms as close as she was and the brief kiss. It felt like she was on air. If there was one man who can brighten her world it was Choi Taejin, for better or for worse.
"I forgive you" Nova whispered letting the happy tears she held back melt into his shoulders. She trusted TJ more than anyone in this world. "Just please pick up next time." She pleaded kissing his cheek. Nova smiled and blushed. "I missed you too." She jokingly pointed at the tv. "Sorry if you're watch recommendations are all Kamen Rider now. I hope thats not OEA propganda." Nova tried to joke.
The jokes faded as the kissed him again, letting herself be one with TJ. She met his eyes intently with a bright look in her eyes. There was a happy sqeaul as she took the ice cream. "You're so thoughtful babe." Nova smirked. "Super Chunky Cookie Dough, my favorite!" She added with a wide beam.
"Make sure you use betadine on any injuries after you get out." Nova said in understanding. "You smell like a pet store." Nova joked crinkling her nose in exaggeration. She booped his nose and pecked his lips. "I'll be watching more kamen rider- " She said.
What TJ had been up to in the past several hours was unknown to him. He remembered being at the gala, being beaten half to death, and then he faintly recalled talking to Mr. No Ears. But everything else after that was a blank. And while that concerned him, what concerned him more was Nova.
When he got back to his senses, he checked his phone straight away. His heart dropped as he looked at his phone, seeing the missed calls and then the text he had sent, which confused him more than anything. "What the fuck," he muttered to himself, panic settling in. Had he been drinking? The hangover he had might explain it. Still, despite the lingering need to vomit his guts out, he realized he better get his ass home and explain. He legged it back to his apartment.
As soon as he got there and opened the door, he could breathe a sigh of relief—she was safe. If she was safe, then everything was okay. That's the only thing that mattered. Her safety meant everything, and his heart could finally rest. "I'm so sorry," he said, wrapping his arms around her, pulling her close. The best he could manage with a tub of ice cream in one arm. "I missed you," he added, feeling regret for not staying by her side all night. He didn't enjoy the feeling of her being harmed, of losing her. But he had trusted that she would be okay, and while he thought that was good enough, he should have been there.
"I got you that ice cream you wanted," he said, pulling her into a brief kiss, hoping that was at least worth some part of the apology he owed her. "I need to shower, and then we can talk. Sound good?"

PatB Nova Ch 6
Ch 6: Eccentricity
AN: Loved some of the PatB shorts more than others (You know my eternal hatred for THAT one). But that’s a story for another day. I’m sticking to the 90s versions of these characters though. For now. I might have a gander at the reboot versions someday. You never know!
Ch 6 FFN Link
April 22, 2015! Narf! You’ll never guess what happened, Mickey Mouse. I met the Brain! Well, I’ve only known him for about four months, or less than two days, depending on how you wanna look at it, but if anything happened to him, I would make myself watch Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender!
Tomorrow, I’m going to the mall and buying a hat. Can’t root for Farfignetown (I have to ask her how she spells her name!) at the Derby without a super fancy hat!
Love,
Pinky.
PS: Tell Minnie I said hi!
o-o-o-o-o
Pinky stepped back to admire his handiwork, the tip of his blue glitter gel pen pressing under his chin as he leaned against it. He did his best to copy Brain’s messages, but he was probably gonna have to write only the first letters only in the future. He didn’t want to take up the entire calendar page again.
His ears twitched at a scraping sound behind him. The sparkly gel smeared against his fur as he turned around, leaving a blue streak across his chest. Egad, if he continued to cover himself in the stuff, he’d look just like one of the Blue Men!
Brain pushed a heavy textbook across the counter, finally stopping underneath a light panel on the ceiling. Then he flipped it open, climbed up, and began to read.
It wasn’t the same book he’d started reading after they’d shaken hands to seal their new friendship either.
“Whatcha reading, Brain?” Pinky asked, slinging the gel pen over his shoulder. “I thought you were reading about jeans! So, find anything good? I think I like the flare type best. Skinny jeans make me chafe.”
“I have no idea what you’re blathering about, Pinky,” Brain said, not looking up from the page he was on. His head shifted from side to side as he read on, and Pinky imagined a giant, fluffy marshmallow making the same movements.
His stomach growled, and a marshmallow dinner sounded heavenly. With cheese fondue and rainbow sprinkles and a light dollop of whipped cream on top…
Wait, no, no. The kitchen didn’t have Gruyere cheese! Processed American cheese wouldn’t provide that proper creamy texture at all.
What kind of host was he? Unable to serve proper cheese fondue to his alien guest?
Then Brain hopped off the book, growling to himself as he pushed up on the hard cover and the few pages he turned. The pages slid into place, but he wasn’t tall enough to get the cover to close the entire way.
“Do you need help, Brain?” Pinky asked. He dropped the gel pen and grasped the cover’s edge, but Brain smacked him sharply on the wrist, forcing Pinky to let go. Pinky flicked his wrist, and the sting quickly disappeared.
“Don’t patronize me! I can get it myself!” Brain snarled. He pushed on the cover again, and it rose a couple inches in the air, only to land against his fingertips. He growled and spread his feet, jumping as he pushed on the cover once more. This time, the cover slammed into the pages with a heavy thud. “Your sources of information are woefully lacking with your livable yet rudimentary conditions. Penumbra had a much better database, and it’s been dilapidated for a long time.”
Pinky had no idea what dilapidated was. Probably something to do with laps though.
“Oh, well if you need more reading material, I’ve got just the thing!” Pinky said, motioning for Brain to follow him over to a tiny side table where all the magazines were stacked. “Let’s see, we’ve got Vogue, National Geographic, Reader’s Digest…ah, here we are! This one’s my favorite out of all the Zoobooks! Lots of pretty horses to look at. Zort!”
Pinky thumbed through the magazine until he found his favorite page, which had gorgeous art of a white horse running on grassy hills. “This one’s my favorite,” he said as he pressed the magazine into Brain’s hands. Brain nearly went cross-eyed just trying to look at it, but he held out his hands and pushed the pages back until they weren’t so close to his face. “I named her Pharfignewton after Pharfignewton! Isn’t her mane just the flowiest thing you’ve ever seen?”
“Including or excluding your mind in that comparison?” Brain asked. He closed the magazine and set it on top of the stack. “Your choice of reading material is peculiar, but I suppose brushing up on this planet’s ecology wouldn’t hurt.”
Pinky grinned. “If you think those are good, remind me to show you David Attenborough’s work sometime! His documentaries are amazing!”
Brain tilted his head, his antennae bobbing with the motion. “You’ve mentioned someone named Pharfignewton multiple times. An acquaintance of yours?”
“She’s not a quail, Brain. She’s a horse, of course!” Pinky laughed at his little rhyme. “Oh right, I’ve never showed you pictures of her, have I? Where are my manners? Anyway, I left them in the cage. It’s right this way! Or left this way. I can never tell which.”
Pinky ran back to the cage and squeezed through the bars, Brain trailing behind at a much slower pace. As Pinky slid his right leg through the bars, he realized just how dirty the cage was. There was a small puddle by the water bottle, and straw was scattered all over the place. Crumbs littered the floor around the food bowl, and his wheel had a stain shaped like a pomegranate.
It just wouldn’t do at all!
“Sorry for the mess!” Pinky called to Brain, who was watching him curiously from outside the cage. “I didn’t know I’d be having a visitor today!”
But Brain didn’t seem to care about the mess. Instead, he prodded the locked cage door.
“Nicholas and Mr. Button, you’ve gotta wake up and help me clean!” Pinky said, shaking them frantically from where they were tucked into the straw. “Narf, you two were up talking late again, weren’t you?”
They were too asleep to respond though.
“Okay, well, I’ll let you sleep for now, but tomorrow I’ll be going over proper cagesitting behavior with both of you,” Pinky sighed. He carefully rolled up the photo of Pharfignewton he kept near the straw bed, hugging it close to his body as he slipped through the bars again.
“Pinky, those are inanimate objects,” Brain said, bending a paper clip until it was completely straight. He poked one of the sharp ends and winced. “They won’t respond to you.”
“They’re real life objects, Brain. They’re not animated,” Pinky said. “Whatcha doing with that paper clip?”
Brain pressed his ear against the cage door, carefully maneuvering the paper clip into the lock. It slipped a quarter of the way in before Brain yanked it out again, his eyes darting around the room as if something would swoop down on them.
When nothing happened, he went back to inserting the paper clip. “Nothing to disable here. There’s no alarm system on the door,” Brain said, turning to Pinky. “I thought you were squeezing through the bars to avoid triggering it.”
“I’ve never had an alarm before. Do you think I should get one?” Pinky asked. “Just so nobody tries to burger my wheel or water bottle? Hmm, what would a burger with those ingredients even taste like? Not very appetizing, probably.”
Brain only stared at him, the paper clip almost slipping from his hand in surprise. “Don’t tell me the only reason you haven’t used the door is because you can’t unlock it.”
Pinky nodded. “Okay. I won’t tell you the only reason I haven’t used the door is because I cannot for the life of me figure out how to unlock it.”
Shaking his head in dismay, Brain reinserted the bent paper clip until it was halfway in, then turned it clockwise (or was it counterclockwise? Pinky always got them mixed up).
“There,” he said, letting the door swing open. “Now you can enter and exit as you please like a civilized mos.”
“Egad, that’s brilliant!” Pinky stepped inside the cage, then back out. In and out again, and again, and he almost started dancing the Hokey Pokey, which would’ve been a whole lot of fun, but Brain still hadn’t seen Pharfignewton’s photo!
Now that was a real tongue twister there!
“This is Pharfignewton, Brain! Isn’t she pretty?” Pinky asked, pressing the photo into Brain’s hands.
The photo had been taken two weeks ago, when her owner had hired a professional to photograph Pharfignewton as she sprinted around the field. Pharfignewton had given Pinky her personal favorite, one that showed her hooves flying through the air and her gorgeous mane streaming in the sunlight. She was having the time of her life, and she couldn’t have picked a better photo to give him.
“There’s certainly an uncanny resemblance,” Brain admitted. “And the size discrepancy between you and her is incredibly blatant. Not to mention the species difference.”
Pinky crossed his arms. “Oh, don’t be so intolerant, Brain. She’s big cause she’s a horse, and I’m small cause I’m a mouse. But we make it work.”
Pharfignewton would be gone for the next two months, possibly more when she achieved the Triple Crown. It would be lonely, but he could manage.
“You mentioned she was far away when I interrogated you.” Brain set the photo down, smoothing out a corner though it didn’t have any wrinkles.
“She’s still on the road to the Derby, I think. Can’t really get in touch with her though. Phones are kinda tricky with hooves, you know.” Pinky said. “She’s wanted the Triple Crown her entire life. So that’s why I gotta make a giant hat and root for her when she races!”
“I don’t understand how a hat factors into all this,” Brain said.
“Zort! I dunno,” Pinky shrugged. “You can’t have a Derby without horses, hats, and My Old Kentucky Home. Otherwise it wouldn’t be much of a Derby then, would it?”
Brain folded his arms. “I’m currently debating if I should take your words at face value or not. Your customs make no sense whatsoever.”
Pinky thought they made perfect sense, and cents, and all of the five senses really, but his stomach growled and that thought was soon forgotten. Brain never had Earth food before, had he?
Definitely a job for a genetically altered Earth mouse to show him the ropes!
But first, Pinky had to clean the gel off his fur. It was starting to clump into spikes, and that wouldn’t do at all.
o-o-o-o-o
Pinky rinsed himself in the sink, sticking out his tongue to lap up some of the cool water as it trickled out of the faucet. Thankfully, the gel hadn’t settled into his fur and was very easy to wash away. And flicking the water around the sink with his tail was loads of fun too!
Brain stayed on the outer rim, pulling on the stopper and handles by the sink out of curiosity. He edged closer to the stream of water, almost touching it with a gloved hand, but decided against it. But he wouldn’t stop staring at it either, like he’d never seen water in his life.
Maybe he hadn’t?
The moon was made of cheese and not water after all. Water would make the cheese all soggy and mushy and wash away the cheesy taste that made cheese so delicious.
“C’mon, Brain! Poit!” Pinky pushed his fingers together, trying to send a squirt of water up to Brain, though it missed his nose by a mile and landed on a small crumb on the slope of the sink instead. “The water’s just fine!”
“I’ll have to decline your offer, Pinky,” Brain said. “My information about water is rather lacking, and I’d rather not cover myself in a substance without knowing more.”
“I guess water would leave the moon cheese not very tasty to eat, huh?” Pinky asked. He braced himself and shot out of the tiny waterfall, and he was very glad for all the focus he’d put into leg exercises recently, because his running start was enough to get him over the rim on his first try. “Well, all you need to know is that water is wet, it splishy-splashes all over the place, and it’s fun to play Marco Polo in!”
Brain didn’t look convinced though. He removed one of his black gloves and touched a puddle, rubbing the water between his fingers curiously.
Pinky turned off the water, then dried himself off with a fluffy towel. He double checked his chest to make sure the gel was completely gone and patted down his fur.
“This way, Brain!” Pinky called, jumping off the counter and onto a spinny chair. The seat twirled around for a bit, making him slightly dizzy, but it was all in jolly good fun. Brain carefully climbed down, gripping the drawer handles and moving slowly. He slipped on the last handle and landed awkwardly on his right leg. He grimaced for a moment, his nose scrunching up rather adorably. “Blueberry bagels and cream cheese, here we come!”
“Your sustenance on Terra, I assume?” Brain asked. He followed Pinky through a corridor and into the kitchen, his large head turning every which way to take in all the sights of ACME Lab. Now that it was daytime, there were more colors than just shadowy blue. Pinky wondered if Brain would try to name the colors he saw. Pinky tried once, but there were just too many pretty colors streaming in from the window pane above.
“They aren’t consonants, Brain. They’re delicious and all, but they wouldn’t fit with the alphabet. A little bit of a mouthful, don’t you think? Poit!” Pinky climbed up the cherry-print towel hanging on the refrigerator door like he’d done a million times before. He braced himself against the fridge door, pressed his legs against the handle, and pushed with all his might, feeling that familiar strain of his stomach muscles.
The door opened with a satisfying pop. Breathing heavily, Pinky tumbled more than he climbed down the towel, landing on the cold floor of the refrigerator.
“S-surely there has to be a more e-efficient way to open a door than your method.” Brain’s teeth chattered together, his ears flattening to avoid the sudden chill. He took a few steps away from the open fridge, his arms folded in front of his chest. “Is it a-always this cold?”
“Oh, I haven’t even opened up the freezer! If you think this is cold, you’ll really feel like a mousesicle in there! But it’s worth it if you wanna get to the strawberry ice cream with the cute little mini spoons! Maybe some other time though. Right now, it’s important to get a daily serving of cheese!” Pinky exclaimed as he pushed two small tubs of cream cheese from a middle shelf. They each landed on the floor with a thud, and Pinky jumped down and retrieved them, closing the fridge door behind him with his foot.
Brain sighed in relief as soon as the door was closed, his arms dropping to his sides.
“They keep the blueberry bagels by the bagel warmer,” Pinky said as he led Brain out of the kitchen and into a room that had been marked with a yellow and black caution sign. The bagels were so delicious they even had to warn everyone to take caution! “Oh, now that’s a tongue twister. Blueberry bagels by the bagel warmer. Boobelly beige by the baguette warmer...oh, that’s a toughie. I’ll work on it.”
The bagel warmer was an oddly shaped toaster, with lots of wires and bulbs sticking out along the sides and top. It even had a conveyor belt running through it, but Pinky thought it made this toaster really unique among toasters. Why, he’d even been toasted in this toaster himself! Though it wasn’t as much fun as crispy pieces of bread made it seem. He just remembered a lot of smoke and electricity. And there’d been a lot of narf inside too.
Pinky set the tubs of cream cheese on the floor, then climbed up to the conveyor belt, which was propped on metallic cylinders.
“This is so much easier with two mice!” Pinky crowed. He peered down at Brain, who curiously poked at a red wire on the floor. “I don’t mind eating bagels by themselves, but there’s something about toasty bagels that just warms the heart!”
“If they’re truly that delectable, I suppose there’s no harm in trying it,” Brain replied.
“Did your file thingies say anything about Earth food?” Pinky asked. Because Brain sure didn’t seem to know much about tasty things.
Brain shook his head. “The Selenians didn’t bother with information about the lifestyles or cuisine of Terrans. It was irrelevant to their cause.”
Oh. Pinky tried to imagine being an alien who didn’t know anything about cheese, but came up blank. He’d eaten cheese and food pellets his entire life. He couldn’t imagine a world without them.
“Pinky, are you aware that machine is also apparently a gene splicer?” Brain asked, pointing to the letters along the side.
ACME GENE SPLICER AND BAGEL WARMER, it said.
“So it does. But the only things that go in are bagels and lab mice. Don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone try to splice a pair of jeans. Oh, that reminds me!” Pinky snapped his fingers. How could he have forgotten something so very important? The silly machine was on the gene splicer setting! Pinky pressed a conveniently labeled button that said ‘press here for bagel warmer setting’. How nice of the scientists to label their stuff!
He was so glad he discovered that before sending the bagels through. The gene splicer setting would’ve made the bagels extra crispy, and while Pinky didn’t mind, extra crispy bagels were a taste one had to get used to first. Nope, it was better to start Brain off lightly!
“Can you please get two blueberry bagels from the bag, Brain?” Pinky pointed to a bottom cabinet where the bagels were kept, grinning at the new tongue twister he’d come with. Egad, he was good at this! “They’re the tan circles with a hole and blue specks in them! Kinda like a donut, except without the frosting and sprinkles. Zort, Brain! You’ve never eaten donuts, have you? Oh, I am definitely making a list of foods you need to try!”
Pinky hopped onto a tall table and neatly tore a paper towel off its roll, then laid it flat on the conveyor belt. Following Pinky’s instructions, Brain retrieved two bagels from the cabinet and passed them up to Pinky. Brain still seemed rather confused about the gene splicer and the bagel warmer being one and the same. Pinky carefully separated each bagel so that he had four half-bagels with the inside lying face-up and arranged them on the paper towel so they would all be nice and toasty.
Then Pinky realized he’d forgotten another thing. Namely, that he didn’t know how to turn the bagel warmer on.
He scratched his head.
That could be a real issue.
“Pinky, do you actually know how to work this machine?” Brain’s voice sounded oddly strained. Pinky turned around. Brain was hanging onto the side of the conveyor belt, his legs wrapped around one of the metal cylinders. He’d tried to climb up himself, but his arms were too short to get a proper grip, and if he leaned over anymore, he’d fall right on his chubby head.
Pinky reached over, grasping Brain’s wrists and trying to haul him up, only for Brain to be resistant to help. He wouldn’t budge, his wrists feeling oddly tense under Pinky’s hands. His pink eyes were wide and apprehensive, pointed ears flattening against his head.
“Brain?” Pinky said. “I’m just gonna haul you up. Could you relax a bit please? It’ll be much easier.”
Brain didn’t move for a second, searching Pinky’s eyes warily. Pinky just gave him an encouraging smile. Brain looked away, his brow furrowing, but some of the tension left his wrists.
Pinky pulled him onto the railing of the conveyor belt, Brain’s feet scrabbling in the air briefly before settling firmly on the metal.
“Thanks,” Brain muttered. He walked over to the various buttons and levers, examining each one curiously.
“You’re welcome, Brain!” Pinky brought one hand to his forehead in a salute, only to remember that Brain was an honest-to-goodness alien, and probably didn’t know that particular gesture. So Pinky tried to make the Vulcan salute instead, but it was kinda tricky with only four fingers instead of five.
“This is very intriguing,” Brain breathed, pressing his face against a small closed window that offered a look into the gears and wires within the bagel warmer. “Yes, pure lithium power source, proton accelerators, and automatic anti-inertia capabilities? The use of nanoplasmic charges leaves a lot to be desired of course, but to have the rest of these things in one machine at your fingertips…”
Pinky didn’t understand anything Brain just said, but the alien’s fingers were twitching in excitement, his nose smushed against the glass. It was the first genuine smile Pinky had seen from the alien since they first met, and Pinky thought it looked really good on him. Even nicer than the jumpsuit, which was already really fashionable. “If you figure out how to turn it on, that would be really great!” Pinky grinned. Brain pulled down on a nearby lever, and the conveyor belt began to move. “Egad, brilliant!”
“The lever was labeled, Pinky.” Brain waved him off, pointing to the word ‘on’ stenciled next to him. But his head tilted up and his chest puffed out too. He seemed to like that word a lot. “Wait, you figured out the machine was on the wrong setting, but you can’t turn it on?”
Pinky shrugged. “It’s not really my type, Brain.”
“Never mind,” Brain sighed, the tips of his ears turning as red as his nose. He turned back to the machine window. “I want to observe this process.”
“Me too!” Pinky exclaimed, and he hopped over to the window, smushing his nose against it just as the bagels were swept into the machine. Blue electricity sparked and jumped all around the metal structures inside, and the glass warmed beneath Pinky’s hands.
It was a beautiful sight, and Pinky licked his lips as the bagels crisped from the heat.
Beside him, Brain watched the electricity intently, murmuring a bunch of smart words Pinky didn’t understand, but definitely enjoying the show too.
Within several minutes, the bagels gained an extremely nice golden brown crisp, and the conveyor belt moved them out of the bagel warmer. Brain pulled the lever up and the conveyor belt stopped moving, the thrum of the machine beneath their feet slowly fading away.
They weaved around long, multicolored wires as they made their way to the other side, where the bagels awaited them.
“Troz! Looks positively dee-lish!” Pinky exclaimed, poking at one of the bagels. Firm and flaky, just how they were supposed to be. His mouth watered in anticipation.
“The scent alone is quite appealing,” Brain agreed, taking several sniffs of the bagels. “I’ve never smelled anything like this before.”
Pinky grinned at him. “Oh, just you wait, Brain! The real magic is just starting!”
Sliding down the cylinders, Pinky retrieved the two cream cheese tubs they’d left on the floor and passed them up to Brain one at a time. His lower leg strength had improved a lot in the past few months, and it was easy for him to hang on while he passed the tubs up.
“Show-off,” Brain grumbled as he took hold of the second tub.
Pinky just laughed as he fetched two plastic knives from a drawer and carted them back to Brain and the bagels.
“Here you go! Bon appetit!” Pinky said. He gave one of the plastic knives to Brain, who gingerly ran his finger across the toothed edge as he examined the flat, see-through handle. “Oh, be careful with those, Brain. You don’t wanna cut yourself.”
“Not to worry, Pinky,” Brain said. “We have knives on New Selene. But I’ve never seen one with this particular material before. And much duller too.”
Pinky peeled away the cover of a cream cheese tub, drooling over the gorgeous smooth white surface inside. Brain copied him with the other tub, pulling off the cover completely. The alien took off his gloves and sniffed the cream cheese a few times, swiping one fingertip through the cream cheese. Then he tasted it.
Brain’s eyes widened immediately, his antennae perking up. He licked cream cheese off his fingertip four more times before he realized Pinky was watching him. Brain ducked his head and fiddled with his sleeves.
“That was…even better than I anticipated,” Brain admitted, his voice full of wonder.
“Aw, you don’t have to be embarrassed if you like it, Brain. I’m glad you think so, cause blueberry bagels and cream cheese is my favorite. Well, so are food pellets. And marshmallows, especially the puffy kind. And smiley face lollipops and…poit! I have a lot of favorites, it’s so hard to choose just one! Zounds, mac n’cheese too! You really need to try mac’n cheese, Brain! That one’s definitely going on the list. Anyway, if you think the cream cheese alone is good, try this!”
Pinky dipped the knife into the cream cheese. Once he got a good coating, he spread it across the surface of the bagel, took the largest chomp of the combined food he could manage, then swallowed. It went down a little rough, but it was delicious all the same.
“Scrumptious!” Pinky exclaimed. “It’s like a party in your mouth!”
Brain copied his actions again, and while he preferred to rip off chunks of the bagel and slather cream cheese onto smaller pieces, his enjoyment of the food wasn’t any less than Pinky’s. He made some funny ‘mmm’ noises in the back of his throat, his eyes closed in bliss as he worked his way through the first half-bagel.
Pinky started on his second half, licking cream cheese off his lips. This was a nice way to spend the evening.
“Brain, you’re welcome to share my cage if you’d like,” Pinky offered. “Mi cage es tu cage, you know.”
“Are you sure, Pinky?” Brain swallowed, thumping his fist against his throat to make the bagel go down. “I know we’re in a mutual partnership, but I wouldn’t want to impose in your living space.”
“You’re not imposing,” Pinky said. “Besides, plenty of unmarried people share living spaces these days.”
Brain was silent. He continued spreading cream cheese across a small portion of bagel, even though it was completely slathered at this point.
“Snowball and I were in neighboring cages. Aisam had to be housed alone because of their inclination towards territorial aggression. We had separate quarters for the journey to Terra as well.” Brain nibbled on a corner of his bagel. “Point being, I’ve never shared a cage before.”
“Sharing is caring,” Pinky smiled, finishing the last of his bagel. “Besides, it’s one more new experience for both of us. Isn’t that just dandy? I just hope Mr. Button and Nicholas didn’t leave too much a mess.”
“Very well. But we’re moving that sponge bed I slept on last night into your cage. It was much less aggravating for my back than the usual fare,” Brain said. “So…thanks for that, Pinky.”
“You’re welcome, Brain,” Pinky replied, rubbing circles into his belly, his hunger satisfied.
Beside him, Brain seemed satisfied too. And there was nothing better in all the world than sharing blueberry bagels and cream cheese with a new alien friend.
AN: OK this one’s more of a breather chapter since the last 5 were like wham bam nonstop stuff for the characters. Sorry it took so long to get this one out. Next chapter will have Pinky finally getting his hat and Brain’s first mall excursion!

Team Bonding
Word Count: 2,328
Requested by the lovely @ruby-tucker, a fic where Nova and Oscar are friends and go to the mall and eat Dairy Queen together. You ask, I deliver.
I’m not super happy with the ending of this, but I like the rest, so I think that’s good I guess. Hope y’all enjoy!
~~~~
“Nova Artino!” Nova’s wristband buzzed as Oscar’s voice sounded from it, urgent and harrying.
“What do you want? I’m working.” Nova said back. She was busy at her worktable, taking things apart and combining them back together. She hadn’t stopped working for two days.
“I’m coming to get you. I have a surprise.”
“I can’t.” She said. “I’m getting close with this-”
“Chill out, Nova. I’m taking you on a team bonding experience.” Oscar chuckled. Oh no.
“Team bonding?” Nova yelped. “Where? And why?”
“I’m coming to get you, and you’ll find out.” He laughed. “You don’t even have to dress up. You can wear sweatpants and a hoodie, I don’t care.”
He hung up, and Nova groaned. She was reluctant to leave her project, but after taking a moment to actually look at herself-
She needed a shower. And some fresh clothes. Adrian was right, she did have a tendency to forget about herself when she was working.
Nova didn’t wash her hair, since she didn’t know how close Oscar was, and didn’t want to go wherever he was taking her and the team with wet hair. Instead she tied her dark locks into a high ponytail and donned a fresh hoodie and leggings.
Ding. The doorbell rang through the small apartment, and Nova went to answer it.
“Hello, Miss Artino.” Oscar made a dramatic bowing gesture on her doorstep, cane in hand. “Will you do me the pleasure of joining me in my quest for Dairy Queen?”
“Your quest for what now?” Nova snorted. She stepped out, wincing at the sunlight.
“Oh my stars. Guys, she’s never had Dairy Queen!” Oscar shouted over down the stairs. Nova rolled her eyes at him, but let Oscar lead her back down to the street.
Everyone was there. Adrian, Ruby, Danna, and even Narcissa. While the redhead wasn’t really a Renegade, she was essentially part of the team. Nova liked her, she was the kind of person who one could sit in silence with and feel comfortable.
“How have we all let Oscar drag us out here?” She asked. “It’s like, what, nine in the morning?”
“Babe, it’s literally one o’clock.” Adrian chuckled.
“Oh. Yeah.” Nova sighed. She’d completely lost track of time again.
“Anyway,” Oscar continued, “We’re all going to the mall, and we’re going to have lots of fun. And after we have lots of fun, we are going to eat ice cream until we can’t walk anymore.”
“I can’t believe you dragged me away from my work for this.”
“It’ll be fun.” Oscar assured her. “Trust me.”
So Nova let him drag her along behind him as he walked, her wrist in one hand and his cane in the other. Ruby walked close by, laughing at his dumb jokes.
“Nova, have you ever been to the mall before?” Danna asked as they arrived in the massive parking lot.
“No. I lived in an abandoned subway tunnel for over half my life. I wasn’t allowed to go to the mall.”
“So I hate to be that person,” Oscar said with a wince, “But can you try to lighten up? Just a bit? A little? Like, a tablespoon lighter?”
Nova snorted. “Absolutely not.” Oscar made a pouty face, and Nova nudged his shoulder. “Kidding.”
“Great! Let’s go inside.” Oscar let go of Nova so he could take Ruby’s hand, leaving Nova with Adrian, Danna, and Narcissa.
Her boyfriend offered his hand, which Nova gladly took. As they approached the building, her blue eyes widened.
“Woah.”
She followed the others inside, looking around incredulously. The inside seemed even bigger, if that was possible. Stores were packed close together, little booths in the massive walkways between them. Advertisements were everywhere, faces of the Renegades on seemingly every surface.
“Adrian, is it weird to see your dads’ faces on literally everything?” She asked.
“I mean, yeah. Kinda.” He shrugged. “You get used to it, though.” They followed Oscar and Ruby through the thickening crowds, almost having to run to catch up.
“This place is insane.” Nova gasped. “I don’t even know what to say.”
“I am pretty good at rendering girls speechless.” Oscar smirked. Both Nova and Ruby rolled their eyes, Nova even going as far as to punch him softly.
“Can we please stop in the Barnes & Noble?” Naricssa begged.
“Why not.” Oscar agreed. “We’ve got all day.”
They followed the redhead into the nearby bookstore, and Nova watched as she grabbed what seemed like one of every book in the store. She skimmed some of the titles, but nothing interested her.
She did stop, however, when she found the magazines.
“Guys, look at this.” They all glanced over to what she was pointing at.
A picture of their team was on the cover of a magazine. Nova remembered when they’d done this, only because Simon and Hugh had practically begged them. Most of the pictures had turned out bad, but apparently not all, since they were currently the advertising for a magazine she’d never heard of.
“Wow. I look like shit.” Danna snorted. “Why did you guys let me out of the house that day?”
“No, you look pretty.” Narcissa said earnestly.
“Well, I know who looks pretty good in this.” Oscar grinned. He puffed out his chest, and Nova waited for the self-centered comment, but instead,
“Ruby. You look smoking, babe.” Ruby laughed and blushed, giving her boyfriend a gentle kiss on the cheek.
“I’m gonna buy it.” Nova said with a devilish grin.
“Nooooooo.” Everyone groaned. Nova just flounced off to the register, magazine in hand.
She bought it, and ten minutes later completely regretted her decision. Why had she wasted her money on a stupid magazine she wasn’t even going to read when there was a literal carousel in the mall.
“Nova, have you ever ridden a carousel before?” Oscar asked.
“Yeah, they had one in the park for a Christmas festival one year.” She replied. “This one is way bigger.”
“C’mon,” He laughed, “This one is great.”
“I don’t have any money.” She sighed. “I spent it on the magazine.”
Her friend handed her a dollar, and Nova made to give it back, but he pushed her hand away. “It’s a dollar, Nova.”
So she let him push her towards the register, and she let him nearly shove her hand at the cashier to take the money and give her the carousel token. And after, she let Oscar drag her to the gate.
“Isn’t this kinda childish.” Nova asked, squirming uncomfortably. The only people on the thing were kids, or parents with young children. Not a teenager in sight.
“What does it matter?” Oscar laughed. He squeezed Ruby’s hand. “If they judge us, so what?”
The animal seats were moving up and down as cheery music blared, and Adrian took her hand. “What animal do you want?” He asked her with a smile.
Nova had to let it pass a few times before she decided. “I want the giraffe.”
“To make up for her height.” Oscar called over his shoulder.
“Rude!” Nova said back, though there were no bite to her words. Instead, she started laughing.
The carousel stopped a minute later, and the kids clambered off. Leaving the team, plus the large amount of new children that had gathered behind them to go on.
Nova put her token in the gate, and it swung open. She followed Oscar as he and Ruby ran, hand in hand, to their chosen animals. She got to the giraffe and pulled herself up, finding herself next to Naricssa on the elephant next to her. Danna had a wolf, and Adrian had gone with the typical pony.
When the ride started, Nova was nearly thrown off as it lurched forward. She clung to the metal giraffe with a yelp, wishing there was some sort of seatbelt. Especially as it started moving up and down.
Ahead of and beside her, she could hear her friends whooping and cheering. Even quiet Narcissa laughed happily, throwing her hands in the air.
Nova, on the other hand, held onto the moving animal for dear life. It was only after taking a moment to realize that she was hardly two feet off the ground that she felt comfortable enough to lessen her death grip.
The spinning motion was exhilarating, and she found herself getting into it. Why were these things supposed to be just for kids? Nova let out a loud cheer as the giraffe rose and fell in tune with the music.
It was all over far too soon, and Nova and her team tumbled off the ride with wobbly legs all around. Oscar was laughing nearly hysterically as he clung to his cane.
Nova leaned against the gate, the other hand clutching her belly from her laughter. “That was amazing.” She managed to get out.
“I knew you’d like it.” Oscar said with a grin.
They managed to leave the area with only one minor issue, when Ruby toppled into Adrian, sending them both sprawling to the tile floor in a tangle of limbs and laughter.
Nova helped Ruby up, and Danna took care of Adrian, and they all got to a table to sit.
“I don’t know about you guys,” Oscar started, “But I’m gonna need some ice cream.”
“If I eat ice cream I will puke all over you.” Danna groaned.
“Good thing I’m not making you eat it. Nova, come with?”
Nova tried to protest, but a moment later she was being dragged away by Oscar, Ruby, and Adrian.
They pulled her towards another store, which Nova concluded must be the “Dairy Queen” Oscar was talking about. Why? Because it said ‘Dairy Queen’ in giant, bold letters in front of the store.
“You haven’t lived until you’ve tasted a Dairy Queen Blizzard.” Oscar said. Nova turned to the others, but both Ruby and Adrian nodded enthusiastically.
“Fine. What flavors do they have?”
“Every flavor. All the flavors.” Oscar gestured to the large menu as they approached the counter. “Whatever flavor you desire.”
“Do they have just regular vanilla?” Looking at all the choices, Nova felt a bit overwhelmed.
“I mean yeah, but you can go get vanilla anywhere. Only Dairy Queen has… let me see.. Heath Caramel Brownie.” Oscar chuckled, and pulled Nova along with him.
“I’m gonna get you a cookie dough Blizzard.” He said after another moment’s thought. “You’ll like it.”
“Why are you making all my choices for me?”
“Because this is a team building exercise, remember? We’re building trust.” Oscar put his hand on her shoulder. “Do you really think I would get you something to eat that was bad?”
They made it to the counter, and Oscar ordered the ice cream for him and Nova. Ruby and Adrian got their own, and they moved to the line waiting for their food.
“How come you didn’t bother Ruby about getting something plain?” Nova complained. “A chocolate dipped cone-”
“Because I’m his girlfriend, and he knows not to mess with me.” Ruby laughed.
Oscar and Adrian joined her, and Nova glared at all three of them. “You are all awful people. How dare you.”
“Order for Oscar.” The worker called. And even with his cane, Oscar beat Nova to the counter. The worker tipped the two cups of ice cream upside down, and Nova’s eyes nearly bulged out of her head. What the-
However, the ice cream was so thick that it stayed, and the worker handed Oscar the cups and two spoons. He turned back to Nova and handed her hers, and she gave him a sidelong glance as she took a bite.
“Oh.”
“It’s good, isn’t it?” Oscar nudged her. “Say it.”
“It’s pretty good. You were right.” Nova sighed.
“Ooh! She said it! Adrian, your girlfriend just said I was right! Imagine that!” He laughed at Nova’s glare, and the two of them walked back to the table where Danna and Narcissa were.
Narcissa already had her nose in a book, and Danna was leaning back with her feet on the table. They sat down, and Nova took another bite of ice cream.
Oscar was practically shoveling his in his mouth, but Nova decided to take her time. She chewed thoughtfully on a piece of cookie dough, and smiled at Adrian and Ruby when they returned.
They all descended into light conversation, Danna stealing the magazine from Nova and continuing to chuckle over their picture. Nova took a large bite of ice cream, and-
Oh sweet rot.
Her entire brain was exploding. She nearly dropped her spoon as she reached to clutch her forehead, eyes welling up at the sudden pain.
“Oh, shit, brainfreeze?” Oscar asked. Nova couldn’t answer.
After a few grueling, painful moments, the fire in her head ceased, and Nova leaned back, groaning.
“What was that?”
“Brainfreeze.” Adrian said sympathetically. “Happens sometimes.”
“It felt like my head was being split open by a mideavel torture device, how can you be so calm?” She yelped.
“Have you never had a brainfreeze before?” Osca asked curiously.
“No.”
“It sucks, but it’s not, like, deadly. I think. I’m pretty sure.” He licked the back of his red spoon. “Just happens sometimes.”
She was reluctant to take another bite, but after a few licks and nothing happened, Nova finally finished her ice cream.
And just like that, Oscar’s ‘team bonding experience’ came to an end. Ruby left first, finishing her chocolate-dipped cone and giving Oscar a quick goodbye kiss. Adrian was next, and Danna and Narcissa left together, Danna helping her girlfriend carry all her books home.
Which left Nova with Oscar.
“I’ll walk you home.” He offered. “I mean, I’m no Adrian Everhart, but-”
“Okay, you dork.”
He grinned, and stood up. “Alright then. But before we leave, was this fun?”
“Yeah.” Nova admitted.
“Are you glad I dragged you away from your very important work?”
“Yeah.”
“Good.”
They didn’t say much else, instead walking back to Nova’s apartment in comfortable, companionable silence.
nodrian headcanons where they get to live slightly normally/where they get to take a little break from reality and just be "normal"
this was super fun to write! im a little bitter that they never got an actual, honest date in the series, so I decided to take that into my own hands. hope you like it:)
CONTAINS SUPERNOVA SPOILERS
Change is good. Change is good. Change is good.
Those three words were on a loop in Nova’s head. She stared at herself in the mirror, torn between liking the clothes on her body and wanting nothing more than to rip them off and put on leggings and a sweatshirt. It was nothing fancy, just a pair of acid washed jeans with a plain white t-shirt. She dressed it up a little bit with a necklace Honey had given her years ago and her father’s bracelet. The biggest issue was the bandana in her hair; Ruby had convinced her to buy it a few weeks ago because Nova liked the pattern. It was a simple light blue silky fabric with tiny pink flowers here and there. It was pretty, that was all. But Nova had seen how other girls had started wearing bandanas as hair accessories, and she kind of liked that, so she was now debating whether or not to keep the one she had bought tied in her hair.
She was going out on a date with Adrian for the first time since the Supernova and since they decided to break up to give one another time and figure things out. A couple weeks ago, he had casually mentioned that he was ready whenever she was, but he would wait for her. That had terrified her, honestly, and it wasn’t until a few days ago that she sent him a text telling him that she was ready, too.
Her therapist, a nice older lady named Liza, suggested the other day Nova do something to step outside of her comfort zone, like wearing something she normally wouldn’t wear. Change could be a good thing. She didn’t have to step too far out, but maybe baby steps at first. Like instead of wearing leggings, wear a pair of jeans. Or put on a small piece of jewelry. Or wear a color a shade lighter than normal.
There was a knock at her apartment door. Nova cursed and looked at herself once more in the mirror. She bit her bottom lip, hoping that maybe that would bring some color back into it. She sprayed herself with perfume and then left her room, grabbing her bag on the way out.
Adrian smiled at her when she opened the door, eyes widening as he looked her up and down. A blush crept onto her cheeks.
“Hi.”
“Hi.”
There was a short pause, borderline awkward, before he said, “You look nice,” then held out an arm. “Ready to go? There’s this new restaurant in the historic downtown that I think you’d love.”
Feeling a rush of boldness, Nova grabbed his hand instead, lacing their fingers together. His smile brightened, and he squeezed her hand. “Ready.”
__________
Nova had only been to the old downtown a few times in her life. It used to be pretty rundown and sketchy, but in recent years, there had been a revival in the area. Now there were little coffee shops, antique stores, pubs, boutiques, and more spread out over one main and four side streets. The streets had been redone as well, paved with brick like how they used to be back in the day. The only modes of transportation allowed were by foot or by cheesy horse-drawn carriages. The area was like a little bubble away from the rest of the city. And it was stunning in the evening, as everything was lit up.
Dinner had been wonderful. Adrian took her to a burger place designed like an old-timey diner; there was even a jukebox that played music from another era. They had talked and laughed as they always did, as if nothing had really changed. After all, Adrian was still Nova’s best friend, and they had always kind of known that they would get back together one day, so nothing was awkward. The only thing that was different now than it had been in recent months was that Adrian sat beside her in their booth and held her hand, absentmindedly tracing her fingers. He even got bold enough to reach a hand down beneath the table to rest on her knee at one point while they ate. Nova never once protested at his affections.
Now they were strolling down the sidewalk, sharing an ice cream in a cup with two spoons. Adrian’s jacket was still resting on her shoulders from when she got cold in the restaurant.
“I’ve been talking with the people in weapons,” Nova said, licking her thumb as a little bit of ice cream dribbled down onto it. “They’re really interested in some of my designs, how they’re better for every day crime instead of targeting prodigies-”
“No Renegade talk,” Adrian said sternly, although there was humor in his eyes. He nudged her lightly. “Remember what we agreed on?” Right. They had agreed to not bring up the Renegades or the Council or the government or anything like that. They would have a normal date as normal teenagers and not as superheroes who were known worldwide.
Nova rolled her eyes and pushed him back. “Fine, bossy. What do you want to talk about?”
Adrian didn’t answer for a minute, although Nova could feel his intense gaze on her. “Your birthday’s coming up, right? May…?”
“27th.” Nova nodded. “But it’s March, Adrian.”
“It’s still coming up.” He shook his head with a slight laugh. “Are you going to do anything?”
She shrugged. “I don’t think so. Maybe go out to eat with the team, or Ruby might force me out of my apartment to do something.” With a tiny glance in his direction, she added, “Maybe have a date with my boyfriend.”
He stopped in his tracks, and they had to move to the edge of the sidewalk as to not block the pathway. He looked down at her, joy clearly written in his features that he was trying so hard to school. Nova bit her lip to hide her grin, although it wasn’t working too well.
“Are you saying you want to be my girlfriend, Nova Artino?” She could’ve sworn he puffed his chest out a bit, maybe even raised his chin a bit higher.
“Not anymore.” She snorted and pushed him away. Noticing that their ice cream was gone, she grabbed it out of his hands and threw it out in the trash can beside her. Then, she turned to leave him, jokingly of course. As expected, he pulled her back to him, arms encircling her waist. Her laughter died in her throat, but her smile remained.
“Yes,” she answered honestly this time. “Let’s make it official.”
“Are you ready for that?” The look he gave her was so sweet, so sincere. It only made Nova love him more. “It won’t be easy, at least with the public knowing about us. And I don’t want to rush you if you need more time.”
Nova shook her head firmly. She had noticed all night the looks people gave her, the confusion and elation and anger from all different kinds of faces at the sight of her with Adrian Everhart. Some probably still thought she hated the Renegades. Some saw hope at an Artino and an Everhart coming together out of love. Some were upset that a former villain should be allowed a chance at redemption and happiness. But she had been given those looks for months whenever she was in public with one of her friends, especially Adrian. She still wasn’t used to it, maybe she never would get used to it, but it had gotten easier.
“I want you, Adrian Everhart.” She wrapped her arms around his neck. “All of you. And if that includes nosy people,” she shrugged, “then so be it. I won’t love you any differently.”
His hold on her waist tightened. He reached a hand up to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear, then let it rest on the back of her neck as he leaned down. Nova met him halfway, heart fluttering when he murmured so softly, just loud enough for her ears alone, “I’m so in love with you, Artino.”
The kiss was short and sweet, nothing more than a few gentle pecks. It had been a while since they had kissed, and Nova had to restrain herself from jumping in his arms and kissing him like there was no tomorrow. She knew, however, that they couldn’t. For one, they were in public. And two, there was probably a reporter hiding somewhere, camera at the ready. Nova wouldn’t be surprised if she found photos of her date with Adrian the next day, with their kiss blown up for the world to see.
But she didn’t care. Not in that moment.
__________
Adrian drove her home.
They sat in his car for a while, just talking. It was more private here. Nova allowed herself to be a bit more open with him, playing with his fingers as he recounted what Max had done the other day that got him grounded for a week.
“But my dads can barely keep the grounding serious.” Adrian shook his head in amusement. “Especially Hugh. They seem to ‘forget’ that Max is in trouble when he’s watching TV.”
Nova rolled her eyes. “I’m just glad to hear he’s adjusting okay, and that he’s not always a wise old man. It’s good for him to get in trouble.”
“I know.” Adrian chuckled. “But that still doesn’t mean I won’t preach the injustice with all the times I was grounded for doing the littlest of things.”
“You’re not exactly innocent, Mr. Everhart.” Nova narrowed her eyes at him. “You’ve had a few secrets up your sleeve. Literally.”
She tried to maintain her neutral expression as Adrian shifted his body a bit closer. “Oh, we’re going to play that game, huh?”
“I’m just saying,” she started, smile creeping onto her lips, but her defense was soon forgotten when he placed a hand on her cheek. Instinctively, she leaned into his touch. “But none of that matters anymore, right? No more secrets.”
Adrian’s lips quirked up. Her eyes were immediately drawn to them. “No more secrets,” he repeated softly. Leaning forward, he placed a kiss on her cheek. “Skies, I’ve missed you, Nova.” He pulled back a bit to face her. “I know we agreed that breaking up was for the best, and being just friends while figuring this shit out helped a ton, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t also agonizing to not be able to be with you in that way.”
Nova rested her forehead on his, feeling her neck heat up. “I missed you, too,” she murmured. “But now we have mostly everything figured out.” She paused. “I meant it when I said earlier that I’m ready.”
He kissed her, slow yet not long enough. “You’re so beautiful, Nova.”
Nova beamed against his lips and kissed him back, a bit harder than before. He responded with enthusiasm; the hand on her cheek pulled off her bandana and reached back to dig into her hair. She melted under his touch, becoming completely putty in his arms. It was hard to keep her composure. After all, it had been months since she had been this intimate with someone, as Adrian was her last.
His lips wandered down to her throat, leaving her trembling. When he was sly enough to gently pull her skin in between his teeth, Nova couldn’t hold back the moan that escaped her mouth. As her hand trailed up his back underneath his shirt, she had a brief thought to invite him in to watch a movie or something. It wasn’t too terribly late, and they still had a lot of catching up to do. But then she felt his fingers graze her hip and rest just underneath her bra as he rose back up to kiss her deeply, and suddenly she wanted nothing more than to be lost in Adrian Everhart.
However, they were in his car outside her apartment complex. His windows didn’t exactly grant them privacy. Really, it wasn’t the most romantic setting for their activity.
Sighing against him, she broke the kiss. His eyes blinked open in surprise, chest rising and falling as heavily as hers. He frowned at her.
Before he could start asking questions, Nova brought a hand to push his glasses up. Her fingers may or may not have accidentally brushed his lips when her hand fell to his cheek. She tried to catch her breath even as she spoke. “How about we go inside where it’s more...appropriate? Watch a movie, maybe?”
Adrian glanced at their surroundings and nodded. They shared a sheepish smile, then headed inside.
They weren’t an hour into the movie before they passed out on the couch cuddling, nothing but a tangled mess of blankets and limbs.
Arcturus Talon Abraxas
Arcturus is the fourth brightest star in the sky: only Sirius, Canopus and Alpha Centauri outshine this orange giant. It is a variable star in the last stages of its life.
Arcturus takes its name from its nearness to the sky Bears, Big and Little Bears, Ursa Major, and Ursa Minor. From Arktouros or Arctophilax, "the Bear Guard" and also called "the Bear Watcher". The "Herdsman", or "driver of oxen" are other titles. Arcturus is the brightest star in the constellation of Bootes the Herdsman so it is also called Alpha Bootis. The pattern of stars in this constellation forms the shape of a kite or an ice cream cone; seeing a Herdsman driving the bears around the sky.
Arcturus is believed to be one of the first stars named by ancient observers. It is translated as "Guardian of the Bear" and is a name that was once used for the entire constellation of Bootes. It is easily found by noting that the curve of the handle of the Big Dipper is part of a circle - an arc - and we can just "follow the arc to Arcturus."
Arcturus is a giant with a diameter about 18 times our Sun's and four times as much mass. Its surface temperature is about 1500 degrees lower than Sun's but its much greater surface area results in an outpouring of energy at a rate making it 105 times as luminous as Sun.
Recent observations by the European Space Agency's Hipparcos Space Astrometry Mission have revised Arcturus's distance to 36.7 light years from us.
Arcturus has the largest "proper motion" -- motion across the sky -- of any of the bright stars except Alpha Centauri, the nearest star to our solar system. In 100 years Arcturus moves across the sky a distance equal to about half the width of your little finger held at arm's length.
At its distance of nearly 37 light years, this motion, when combined with its motion along our line of sight measured spectroscopically using the Doppler shift, yields a space velocity of about 76 miles per second with respect to our Sun. Most stars in our vicinity are moving relatively slowly with respect to Sol because of our common motion carrying us around the center of the Milky Way galaxy every 250 million years. Arcturus is in an elongated orbit around the Galaxy's center that carries it out into the Galaxy's halo.
It was formed in the halo of the Milky Way and is an interloper in our neighborhood. It has been visible to the naked eye for only about half a million years. It will be a little closer in a few thousand years, but then will recede from our view in another half million years as it continues its journey on a different orbital path.
Arcturus's great brilliance makes it possible to obtain very detailed spectra and to determine its chemical composition. Arcturus is deficient in elements such as silicon, aluminum, and iron which are formed in stars. It contains only about a fifth as much of these elements as Sun. These elements are formed inside stars, mixed into the interstellar medium as stars explode, and incorporated into subsequent generations of stars.
This chemical composition reinforces our identification of Arcturus as a member of the galactic halo. It was formed about 10 billion years ago, in a generation of star formation prior to that in which our Sun was formed, before the interstellar medium could be enriched in elements such as silicon and iron. Arcturus, about twice as old as Earth and the solar system, is the oldest thing most of us have ever seen, and is the oldest object easily visible to the naked eye.
The constellation Bootes has the shape of a kite with the bright star Arcturus at the point of the kite where the tail is attached.
Arcturus is a red supergiant star and the fourth brightest star in the whole sky.
It is visible from the northern hemisphere in the evening from about March early summer. Red-supergiant stars are precursors to super-novae, neutron stars, and black holes (so it is believed). It is approximately thirty-six light years from Earth.
According to E W Bullinger (The Witness of the Stars ), a biblical interpreter of the constellations, the ancient Egyptians called Bootes Smat, which means 'one who rules, subdues, and governs'. They also called him Bau , which means also 'the coming one'.
It was famous with the seamen of early days and as a calender sign regulated their annual festival by its movements in relation to the sun. But its influence always was dreaded, as is seen in Aratos writings. Its acronycal rising (the latest rising visible at sunset) fixed the date of the husbandmen's Lustratio frugum; and allusions were made to its character as unfavorably affecting the farmer's work; "When moist Arcturus clouds the sky". Other contemporary authors confirmed this stormy reputation, while all classical calendar's gave the dates of its risings and settings.
An Egyptian astronomical calendar of the 15th century BC, associates it with the star Antares in the immense sky figure Menat; and Lockyer claims it as one of the objects of worship in Nile temples, as it was in the temple of Venus at Ancona in Italy.
In India it was the 13th nakshatra, Svati, "the Good Goer", or perhaps "Sword", but figured as a Coral Bead, Gem, or Pearl; and known there also as Nishtya, "Outcast", possibly from its remote northern situation far outside of the zodiac, whence, from its brilliancy, it was taken to complete the series of Hindu asterisms.
The Arabs knew Arcturus as Al Simak al Ramih *, sometimes translated the "Leg of the Lance-bearer", and again, perhaps more correctly, the "Lofty Lance-bearer".
Another Arabic name; Al Haris al Sama, the "Keeper of Heaven," perhaps came from the star's early visibility in the twilight owing to its great northern declination, as though on the lookout for the safety and proper deportment of his lesser stellar companions, and so "Patriarch Mentor of the Train." This subsequently became Al Haris al Simak, "the Keeper of Simak", probably referring to Spica, "the Unarmed One".
From the Arabic title came various forms: Al Bamec, Aramec, Aremeah, Ascimec, Azimech, and Azimeth, Somech haramach, Aramakh, Kheturus.
Al Biruni mentioned Arcturus as the Second Calf of the Lion, the early Asad (Lion) in early Arabian astronomy; Spica being the First Calf.
The Greeks had a word meaning "Javelin-bearer", while Bayer had Gladius, Kolanza, and Pugio, all applied to Arcturus, which probably marked in some early drawing the "Sword", "Lance", or "Dagger" in the Hunter's (Orion) hand. Similarly it took the title Alkameluz of the whole constellation.
It has been identified with the Chaldaeans' Papsukal, "the Guardian Messenger", the divinity of their 10th month Tibitu.
On the Euphrates it was the Shepherd of the Heavenly Flock, or the Shepherd of the Life of Heaven, undoubtedly the Sib-zi-anna of the inscriptions; the star eta (Mufrid) being often included in this, and thus making one of the several pairs of Euphratean Twin Stars.
Another title was Audiens, which seems unintelligible unless the word be a misprint for Audens, the "Bold One".
With others it was Arturig and Ariture, or the Carlwaynesterre from the early confusion in applying the title Arcturus to Charles' Wain as well as to Bootes and its lucida.
Bootes is the cultivator or Ploughman who drives the Bears, Ursa Major and Ursa Minor around the Pole Star, Polaris. The bears, tied to the Polar Axis, are pulling a plough behind them, tilling the heavenly fields "in order that the rotations of the heavens should never cease".
Manilius 1st century AD writes "they will be kings under kings and ministers of state, and be charged with the guardianship of the people, custodianship of great houses and treasures, who confine their business to the care of another's home so that the wealth of monarchs and temple finances will be in their keeping".
Any type of occupation that requires planning is influenced by Bootes. These people are the driving force behind government and large corporations. They are the planners and designers, the movers and shakers, who "make the world go round". Bootes symbolizes the elder, the sage, the wise old man who is interested in principles and underlying causes, theories, ideologies, and how the past effects the future. (Conservative) politicians, economists, draftsmen, architects, designers of all kinds.
🏳️🌈Amanda hcs pleaseee
Here are some Headcannons! Thank you for the submission!
I see Amanda as a genderfluid lesbian
A huge HC I have with her is she is secretly a useless lesbian who gay panics around people she crushes on, but most people don't know this.
She teases people she really likes
When she REALLY likes someone and doesn't want to admit it, she says she hates them.
She can be just as stupid and oblivious as Akko.
She loves doing pranks, especially on the blue team and Akko. She often employs Sucy to help.
She has a huge brotp with Sucy
She's never had a true girlfriend and rarely actually crushes, though she has had many flings
As everyone in the fandom believes, she is responsible for most gay awakenings in Luna Nova
She will randomly use Metamorphe Vestiss to slick back her hair, but she changes the outfit with the hair
She won't admit it, but she thinks Barbara is cute
She LOVES Lotte! Not romantically, but she thinks Lotte is a cinnamon roll. And to be fair, Lotte is.
She made a pact with Sucy that she will never prank Lotte
Her favorite person to prank is Hannah
Some days Hannah will avoid her and others Hannah will go out of her way to harass her.
She loves going on night flights to clear her head.
She teaches other students how to ride brooms for free because she loves it so much.
She is actually very good with magic, though not very good with languages.
She could challenge Diana in transformation magic and broom flying.
She's actually good at singing.
She learned FROM AKKO how to transform herself into animals, and her and Akko often go cause trouble in random animal forms
She is so close to her team members. THEY ARE FAMILY! And Conz is seen smiling the most when she's with Jas and Amanda.
She was ALMOST recruited to join the party in episode 10.
Amanda's favorite teacher is Croix, but she acts like she hates Croix.
Because Amanda has many people crushing on her, girls love to slip magic love potions in her drinks, and this love potion is made with cupid bee venom. It wears off after a few hours, but it makes her go crazy.
Sucy is the one who helps the girls who like Amanda by making these potions. She would even use them to prank Amanda herself. It has made Amanda fall in love with basically all the girls in the og cast at one point. Once Amanda accidentally fell in love with Sucy, Sucy stopped making the potions alltogether.
Sucy always makes her laugh. They have contests to see who has the better sense of humor and who can make more people laugh.
One of her dreams has always been to start a magic business involving brooms and flying.
She has always wanted to fly with wings, but she has yet to figure out how to use transformation magic to do it.
She loves trying new foods, and Jas encourages this by making her team new foods.
She is actually very graceful on her feet, as she is in the air.
Amanda loves heights.
She knows a lot of people outside of the og cast, and she's distantly related to Avery.
Despite Avery being a snobby rich girl like Hannah and Barbara can be (sometimes), she allows herself to relax and do stupid things when she's around Amanda. Only Amanda though, and if Amanda is in a group, Avery will avoid her.
Amanda gets flustered around Lotte, and Lotte thinks it's funny and cute.
Amanda LOVES ice cream sandwiches.
She once imitated Diana to fluster Akko (like Akko did in the mirror episode).
She once tried to imitate Sucy using a spell to find out why Sucy always covered one of her eyes and her legs, but the spell failed... Weirdly. Even though it works when she tries to imitate literally anyone else.
She finds Sucy super interesting, and Sucy tolerates her. Lotte thinks that Sucy secretly enjoys the attention and help with her experiments on Akko.
She ships everyone together, especially Diakko, though she crushes on Akko a little bit.
She's the one that pushes Conz to work with Croix, and it turns out they are awesome together. Amanda even saw Conz freely smiling with Croix, which is beautiful.
Once, Sucy and her used Metamorphe Vestiss to cause girls around the school to gay panic, particularly Akko, Lotte, Hannah, and Barbara.
Once, Amanda convinced Akko to use Metamorphe Vestiss, but Akko looked so good that Amanda gay panicked and ran off. The funny thing was is, she ran off to grab Diana, and they ended up both gay panicking.
Amanda and Sucy have prank wars on each other. They started in secret with little things, but it became obvious and involved bigger things.
I wrote a lot bc I feel like some of these aren't original... Hope you like these!
Gosh, I love this disaster lesbian ;)
Heeeeeeyyyyyy!!!!!!! How about "but you always said you liked that?"
Truth in the Mirror
Drabble Length:1093Pairing: Dean x ReaderWarnings: None.
“So, did you get the package? Merry Christmas, Y/N!”
You rolled your eyes at the over-enthusiastic response coming through your phone. Vance Wilson was naive, sweet, and very much still a kid at heart. You knew he had a huge crush on you, but the young hunter did nothing for you, especially since you and Dean had become an item.
You pushed the box, still unopened away and smiled at the card. “Yeah, Vance, I got your present. Thanks, and Merry Christmas.” You tried to end the conversation with your tone.
No luck.
“Have you opened it yet? I want to know what you think…And I was hoping, maybe, if you didn’t have any plans for new years…”
“Um, sorry, Vance. Dean and I are planning on a little vacation together in a week that should last through the new year. But thanks again for the gift.”
You hurriedly hung up, biting your lip at how blunt you had been in crushing the kid’s hopes. Oh well. Maybe he would stop following you like a puppy now.
You looked at the unopened present. What had he sent you anyway?
“Hey, babe, you hungry?” Dean stepped into the main room holding his cup of coffee and still sleepy-eyed.
You smiled at him, putting the antique artifact mirror back down in the packaging.
“I could eat. Do you have any idea how adorable you look right now? With your crinkled up eyes, and your robe?”
He raised an eyebrow and chuckled at your admission.
“Good to have it confirmed. I always thought I was adorable, you know.”
You rolled your eyes at his brush-off, then stood up, walking past him into the kitchen. You meant to leave it at that, but decided you should call him on it.
“You know, you shouldn’t ignore me when I say something nice about you. I get it, the whole fake bragging is your version of being self-deprecating and humble, but it gets annoying after a while.”
Dean shot you a strange look, but you just helped yourself to a cup of coffee. He should be able to handle the truth about himself.
“Ooookay then. Good morning to you too.” Dean’s voice implied that he had a question or he was worried. You had no idea why.
“Why are you talking like that? I’m just being honest. Anyway, are you offering to cook breakfast? Let me guess: pancakes, right?”
You meant to be teasing with that last bit, but it came out a bit snide, as if you were criticizing his favorite breakfast option.
Which, now you thought about it, deserved to be criticized. You weren’t five after all, and pancakes got old after a while.
“It’s almost always pancakes with you. Do you struggle with anything else? How about an omelette? Or bagels with cream cheese? Would it kill you to try some variety? With you, it’s pancakes, burgers, pie, and that’s about it.”
Your tone was getting more accusatory, but it was the straight truth. How he could stand to eat the same thing all the time was beyond your comprehension.
“Wait. You don’t like my pancakes now? But you always said you liked that?”
He wasn’t listening. Again. You watched as he put the mug down, his eyes wary as he walked closer to you.
“What’s up with you Y/N? Did you not sleep well or something?”
You rolled your eyes. So maybe you were grumpy. Stupid Vance and his stupid present.
You told Dean about it, not caring if you were overly harsh, not hiding any part of your frustration that the kid wouldn’t take your hints. You didn’t want to hurt him, but come on. How dense was the guy anyway?
“And sending a hand-held antique mirror? What kind of gift is that? Was he saying I’m vain?” You pointed to the table and Dean approached the opened package as if it held something dangerous.
“Dean, what’s with you? Why are you being so suspicious?”
“Because you’re not acting like yourself, right now, Y/N. It’s like your brain-mouth filter has vanished. And it sounds like it started when you looked at that mirror. Sam and I fought Veritas once, and she made everyone tell the truth. Maybe this is something like that.”
You thought that over.
“So that little idiot send me a cursed object or something? Why? If it just makes me say whatever I’m thinking, how would that….oh. Vance thought it would make me say that I liked him or something. He wanted me to open it while I was on the phone with him, the little toad.
“Or maybe he thought I’d spew truth until you dumped me or something.” Dean shot you a wry smile and shook his head. He slipped off his robe and threw it on top of the mirror, careful not to look at his reflection.
Of course, that left him standing there in just his boxers.
“Now, that’s a good morning view, if I do say so.” You shared a smile with Dean, then realized that it was probably not appropriate to compliment his broad shoulders and narrow hips right now. Your mouth kept going anyway.
“Damn, Dean, you’re hot. Your shoulders, your hips, I mean, even your bowlegs are beautiful to me. It makes me want to drag you back to bed again. When do we leave for vacation again? That old hunting cabin of Bobby’s should get snowed in and I’m looking forward to all of that alone time right now to have my way with you.”
“Y/N” Dean groaned your name like you were testing his patience or something. “Let me go put this into a curse box in storage. Then we’ll see if you still want to talk about this, okay?”
You watched him carefully pick up the wrapped mirror and start to walk away.
“Good. I’m going to call Vance back and let him learn exactly what I think while I can. Afterall, that’s what he wanted, right? No concealing, all my thoughts about him without any filter? He won’t like what he hears, but that’s exactly what he deserves.”
Dean smiled, then turned back and took your phone from your hand.
“Maybe he deserves it, but I think you’d regret it later if I let you make a call right now. Once this is locked up tight, I’ll give you your phone back and you can deal with Vance however you like.”
He pressed a gentle kiss to your lips then walked away again.
Fairy on the Xmas Tree
Fairy did all the work, she watched the kids for naughtiness, she made most of the wooden toys, listened to the love life problems of the elves, she did all the lists organising, made sure the elf parties had enough glow sticks, and she organised all the xmas food in the North Pole; you must know, xmas food is all year around in the North Pole: except at xmas, but that’s another story. And who do you think remembers to leave out the super strength indigestion tablets for, you know who, on his return. Fairy organises all the elf rota’s. Fairy sets the spells that scare away the infestations of Axmas Trees. And when all the big build up is over and everyone has a holiday, who do you think clears up the New Christmas Years Eve celebrations. No actually that’s , you know who’s, wife.
The End
By Peter Stringer
Girl
“Girl, how are you feeling now... that third Band Cloud-Reeta should be making you feel better by now"... The Girl’s memory was still very hazy, flashes of childhood upset, embarrassing teen problems and moments of past depression. “Girl, you know it’s always the bad things that come back first.” “Anyways I’ll be with you for most of the first few years. So we’ll work out who you are.”
The Girl had been awake in the future a week and still was utterly disorientated. She had no idea who she was, where she was, what she was or what to do about it. The EMP had wiped out the database of the Cryogenics facility; something left over from the Cryo-terrorists.
“Girl you’ll be feeling like planesoulling soon.” The Girl asked what planesoulling was... “well it’s, the emotion you feel, when your micro spaceship glances off of a solar wind and your vessel is humming and also daydreeing... it’s a lot like, Guuurl, there’s nothing quite like the fear mixed with pure awe... You’ll find out one day. When the migration happens."
The future was pretty, all the surfaces were iridescent and the windows (if you could call them that) were faintly rainbowed..
“Girl, you are far away from Earth... all the cryo sleepers were moved a long time ago... the Cryo-terrorists.” The Girl asked what Earth was. “our home world, but we fled so quickly we are having trouble locating it again.” What’s a world.
The Girl asked why everyone was a different colour than her. “You can change everything in the future. No one has human coloured skin anymore... mine is Sillleevann, very popular.” The girl knew yellow when she saw it, though this particular shade was particularly flattering in it’s greyish sparkling. The Girl believed that a sparkling greyish yellow was a memory that was wholly new: sparkling grey hues she felt were impossible some how: but she kept that to herself.
The Girl asked what is a migration. “well, when we use up all of a stars energy and it’ll be close to going nova, we have to move on to another star. Which takes time and not everyone will fit on the transports so we have to sail our own micro spaceships.” The Girl didn’t understand any of these things.
“There are a lot of people in the future”
The nanobots inside the Girl's brain had constructed some extra features, expanding the Girl’s experience of reality. “Girl, you have to have these augmentations in the future or you’ll never understand anything properly.” A glowing word appeared in the distance just in the Girl’s peripheral vision. “that’s how it starts, the augmentation. Just out of reach so as not to startle you, then one day you’ll be fully up and running and be able to understand your surroundings better... Magical!”
Who were the Cryo-terrorists she asked. But there was an explosion before Gremmille D3 could answer. Gremmille moved behind the Girl, as if to protect itself from the direction of the explosion.
The facility was hidden in a envelope of space-time, inside a kind of hyper reality. Exhaustive of energy, that goes unnoticed until a waning star, energy source, gives things away. “I'm sorry about this Girl, but we are near the start of migration (always a dangerous time), don’t worry I’ll be with you while we make our escape. Priority for you has been made in one of the transports.”
The Girl learned about the great chase. The Cryo-terrorists were in pursuit and there space-time harpoons had caused an early migration. “Girl, the Cryo-terrorists believe you are a devil, any reanimated human is a danger. But our techniques are getting better. Every new batch of cryo sleepers we regenerate are better than the last ones.” “This is your little area, you can see enough of the real world now that you’ll be able to attain anything you need. Not that humans need much in the future. I'll have to take a micro-ship and we’ll meet at the next star.”
The transport hummed the Girl awake. Her little area was large enough to stand in to sleep and sit through the awake times. The nanobots took care of her waste, recycling it. And her nourishment, synthesizing any minerals or H2O she needed. They disposed of any skin grime as well. In fact all a human had to do was sit. On a transport.
The Girl searched the databases for an answer for why, if we are being pursued, why we are trying to find the home world. Surely we are being pursued away from Earth.
“Girl, a wish... one wish from the first cryo sleeper to be revived. To feel Earth grass inbetween her toes. It’s that simple... there's little else to do out here.” The Girl heard a different humming through the communicator; the micro ship had just planesoulled. "Guuurl, this is my grass in the feet.” Gremmille D3 said.
The Young Billionaire
En garde the billionaire called to herself in her imagination. “Shame i don’t like swords, but EN GARDE.”
The Bright City was celebrating Halloween, neon 300 meter pumpkins somewhere deep in the bowels of the city. Someone entered one of the egg shaped taxi pods. It, centrally controlled, floated into the stream of other taxi pods. Flowing through The Bright City on super fast sky highways. It would be a bit of a journey to the edge of the city. A city that was home to billions of people and robots. 30 miles high at it’s borders and much more miles wider.
The taxi pod reached a shaft of sunlight horizontally peaking into the city. And then pure sunlight, clouds, and trees for a far as an augmented human eye could see. Now the egg pod could really be super fast. Clouds blasted past the taxi. A small tower quickly came up to the pod, and it slowed. Coming to rest at ground level just next to the tower. A gothic tower with 4 giant clock faces, a gothic sprawling palace. Surrounded by trees; perfectly preserved in it’s ornate medieval features... next to a brown churning river. The someone exited the pod and sat barefoot on a small patch of grass. She looked up to a gothic window. A holographic ghost from history waved back at her from the other side of the window. The someone smiled. EN GARDE...
The Young Billionaires final project a glint in her eye would take some convincing.. but to preserve a still beautiful planet, leaving it to nature was one option. An option the Billionaire liked the most. All the people’s of earth contained in a gargantuan city. 30 miles high and topped with grass, fields and fields of grass and alpine flowers, many many miles wide. A complex of multi levelled superscrapers reflective so the light reaches down into the depths endlessly cascading off of super reflective surfaces; each superscraper a field of grass on top. But such a feat of engineering would be for others lifetimes... though the massive foundations must be fought for now. Political foundations must be started in a previous lifetime. Many glints in the eyes of the people with Vision, not yet augmented.
Imagine the garden parties.
Alien Food
The UK is the home of Alien Cuisine
The fact that Great Britain is the hub of alien activity, alien Food activity, tells you all you need to know about the state of cuisine in the rest of this half of the galaxy. Galactic visitors have been visiting small towns, villages and cities for a long time. They come for the Yorkshire puddings, the packet gravy and over cooked vegetables. You see Yorkshire Pudding is renowned across half a galaxy as the Food of the Gods and it’s worth stuffing yourself into a flesh bag skin disguise to walk among the humans to eat it in peace.
Alien mothers come across time and space to learn how to make the best Yorkshire puddings from a little older lady, who lives on the moors of North Yorkshire in a little stone two up two down; a little older lady who started a small cooking class a few years back, that is now fully booked until the next 50 millenniums... scores of alien scientists are right now working on a youth elixir to make sure Granny Yorkshire keeps teaching her older ways of making oil roasted batter towers that always rise to the top of the oven and char a little where they touch. Granny Yorkshire also does a roaring trade in expertly mushy vegetables that she sells by the small, over salted, pot.
There is a factory, also in north Yorkshire, that makes the dehydrated gravy elixir (that also goes amazingly well on fries or should I say proper chips) That has recently taken an order for 12000 10kg boxes of the stuff; an order from one oddly named Zurghish Klavlong the 287th.
One intrepid alien once ventured over the sea to France to try their luck with, as the British Used to call it, Foreign Muck. They never returned on the channel tunnel train to France again, disgusted at the use of rich flavours, herbs, spices, cream and real butter!
Family Time
My secret Santa gift for @nova-artino-is-a-queen
Sorry it’s kinda late and short I got super busy yesterday and had no time to post it, hope you had a happy holiday
Oscar crouched behind the couch, looking around the arm every one and awhile to make sure he hadn’t been found yet. A drop of sweat rolled down his brow, it sure was hot in here. He looked again, trying to find Ruby’s head of black and while hair among the destruction in the living room. No luck. He looked down to the gun in his hands, it was cocked and loaded. His last piece of amo was tucked inside, ready to shoot at his target. He turned his head around the corner again, his head barely poking out when a projectile grazed past him and hit the wall behind him. He let out a noise as he pulled back. “Sweet rot.” he mumbled as he looked at the gun again, scooting towards the entryway to the kitchen that was on the wall that the couch was next to, the only thing separating the couch and wall was a side table that usually held a lamp, but it was missing today. Just as he made it to the entry way he heard feet hitting the linoleum.He pulled back, starting to make his way around the couch. Then, there she was. Gun pointed at his chest, smile tugging at her lips. “Surrender!” She yelled at him. “Look, I'm sure we can figure this out without guns.” He said, though his own hand was pulling his gun up. “I’ll shoot.” He looked back at her hazel eyes. “Why would you do that?” He asked with a small gasp like laugh. “‘Cause mommy said so.” Her lips pulled back to show the gap where her front right tooth usually sat. It’d fallen out this morning at breakfast. “Seriously?!” Oscar asked, not believing her. She was his daughter after all, pranks were in their blood. “Seriously.” Ruby said, stepping out of the kitchen, her own gun aimed at Oscar. “Oh come on! An alliance!” He said to them. “Is that even fair?” The little girl stuck her tongue out through her gapped smile. “Why wouldn’t it be?” She said and as if she had gotten bored with the conversation, put her finger on the trigger. Oscar braced himself for the blow to his chest. He waited a couple seconds but it didn’t come. “C’mon are you gonna shoot me or no-” Before he could finish she pulled the trigger. The foam piece of amo with a suction cup on the end flew out of the end of neon pink and green gun, hitting oscar in the forehead, sticking because of his sweat.
Ruby laughed at him, doubling over in amusement. The small, brunette girl laughed too, dropping her fake gun. “We win!” She exclaimed and high fived her mom. Oscar grabbed the foam dart that was sticking to his forehead, pulling lightly until it gave way and popped off his forehead with a, well, pop. “That was super unfair.” He complains. “All’s fair in love and war.” Ruby proclaims as she strikes a superhero pose. Oscar rolls his eyes with a smile. “Yeah sure.” He said, looking at their daughter. “Well what do you want as your prize, you gremlin?” She smiled at him and tapped her chin as if she hadn’t thought this over already. “I want…...ICE CREAM!” She smiled and jumped up and down as she said it. Oscar laughed lightly and looked up to Ruby. “And what do you want as your prize?” She tapped her chin, becoming the mirror image of their child. “I want…..a date night.” She said, smiling down at Oscar. He smiled back. “I can work with that.”
