"average school has 3 student deaths a year" factoid actually just statistical error. average school has 0 student deaths per year. Sunnydale high, who lives on a hellmouth & kills over 10,000 students each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted

Buffy the Vampire Slayer au where Ethan Rayne gets a job at Sunnydale High as like, a janitor, and instead of all the big mischief we see in the show he just makes it his job to mildly inconvenience the Scoobies (but especially Giles) as much as humanly possible.

All the books are weirdly rearranging themselves and making it impossible to find anything. A hundred frogs were delivered for biology class? It would be such a shame if they were released in the library. And whatever happened to all the swords?

One of my favourite pieces of likely unintentional foreshadowing in Buffy was the episode after Angel-which revealed the origins of the curse and had Buffy and him get closer romantically-introduced Jenny Calendar

I say "unintentional" cause I don't think Jenny's backstory was planned

As in I literally think it was something they came up with when breaking the two-parter that lost Angel his soul. We need someone Buffy trusts to tell her about the curse that wasn't revealed by looking up info on Angel-Jenny makes the most sense

Making it one of the kids is nonsensical and she's the only other adult outside of Giles who's in on the magical knowhow connected to the Scoobies. Plus-as awful as the Romani rep is-given its prior connection to magic the fact that she's mystically inclined helps sell this

This then has a retrofitting effect in the previous episode by warning the audience through a character they have a rapport with that something bad will happen if Buffy and Angel bump uglies thus it gives us tension leading to the end of that episode

The problems (sans racism) are two fold:

1. This makes Jenny unlikeable. She lied to the cast and didn't let the cast know the Romani tribe that Angel hurt were still keeping tabs on him

(edited because I got a detail from the story wrong)

2. This makes Jenny stupid. There's no hints to this secret mission. She never ONCE tries to stop Buffy and Angel getting close

I will grant the "techno pagan" background didn't lead to much after her introductory ep. She just....writes a spell on a Word doc sometimes

Her bridging tech and magic does lead to a lot of Willow's growth away from "Tech Geek" to "Insanely Powerful Witch" kind of nicely as her death has more of an impact on her character than even Giles

I don't know if Robia LaMorte refusing to come back hurt her broader impact on the show

There was allegedly a line in season 7 where Giles said he doesn't trust Buffy's judgement because of Jenny but that is deeply *DEEPLY* out of character and doesn't add up at all on how he behaved around her the prior 5 years

Honestly her infiltrating Sunnydale High to keep an eye on Angel is just funny when you remember Giles only has the librarian job as a front to be Buffy's Watcher

It's implied Snyder is also a plant from the Mayor to keep an eye on the school as well and later on Wood ALSO infiltrates the school to get close to Buffy

Was any of the faculty of Sunnydale High actually there to achieve the simple goals of higher learning?!

Angel’s ‘let’s just say I’m a friend’ outfit: 7/10

It’s average, nothing really special

Cordelia’s ‘childhood trauma’ outfit: 8/10

It’s cute and the colour is nice, my favourite part is the purse.

Willow’s ‘Seize the Day’ outfit: 6/10

It looks so comfy and I do think it’s cute, but it’s not for a night out at the local club.

Xander’s ‘scoring at the bronze’ outfit: 5/10

Nothing to say about this one, it’s not ugly so that’s a plus.
