The way Balloon was trying to still put up a front by giving Ozone this story about how his friend was in a fight with his boyfriend.

The way we could see from his expression that Ozone knew immediately Balloon was lying but didn't call him out on it.

The way Balloon inevitably broke down halfway through and was sobbing on Ozone's shoulder.

The way Ozone felt the one at fault for causing problems between Balloon and Mek.

The way Balloon cried, "I'm not brave enough!" The like you going unspoken. Because you know he thought his little brother was so brave for standing up to their homophobic dad after his relationship with Sun was revealed.

The way Balloon encouraged Ozone to follow his heart because he probably thought that if he couldn't be happy, at least his little brother could. And at least he could live vicariously through Ozone's happiness.

The way Balloon never got angry at Ozone for being out (even though that didn't seem like it was his choice).

The way Ozone never got angry at Balloon for not telling him about Mek.

The way these two brothers absolutely wrecked my emotions!

The mid-year update of my list of Best Actors in BL

that came in July :) Reminder that for this list, I will only consider actors who have had Main/2nd Main Couple roles in one or more BL-related series and/or films. Purple = new entry or higher ranking from the previous list. Red = lower ranking from the previous list.

Tier 1 - Phenomenal actors who make you believe fully in their characters. These actors have only a few weaknesses but numerous strengths. They evoke empathetic responses, making you feel what the characters feel. The actors in this group can compete with the best actors outside of the genre.

Tier 2 - A full step above Tier 3 actors, these actors are convincing in their roles but struggle with one significant aspect of acting. These actors are typically excellent in emotionally intense scenes, but struggle with light-hearted scenes (rarely vice-versa). There is a recurrent awareness of the fact that these actors are acting that limits suspension of disbelief at times.

Some notes:

Bible is damn near a Tier 1 for me. The only reason he's on rookie watch is because he's literally a rookie. He still needs a little practice (especially in delivering dialogue) but his non-verbals are so impressive that the rest almost doesn't even distract me.

Santa is hovering around Tier 2. There's something so incredibly captivating about him and I believe in his character so deeply. Plus that single tear in the My Only 12% trailer is giving me Gun Atthaphan vibes. But he's still a rook and I need to see him in My Only 12% to be absolutely sure on anything.

Win leveled down because he's not really a rookie anymore and also hasn't shown me Tier 3 or above level acting.

Apo has full potential to be Tier 1 one day and I have a feeling this new movie with Mile will catapult him there for me.

I wanted a different ending and would like to yeet out the kiss scene T-T

Honestly, I liked it more than I thought I would and found it far less heartbreaking that I assumed.

The kiss was... okay. I wish they'd done more with it but they'd also kind of written themselves into a weird little corner with the two of them being so bad at coming back from their argument so I don't think they had much of a choice.

But I really liked it. I adored Sun who was just doing his absolute best to be a good guy and just couldn't live up to the expectations and the pressure from either the bullies or from Ozone. And I adore Ozone who survived bullying with strength and kept on going despite everything else.

I found the end to be a quietly hopeful ending that's looking to the future as they find a way to reconcile and to become so much more without the additional pressure of being at a boarding school surrounded by bullies.

I do wish they'd done a bit better with the kisses but I also see where they're written themselves and what they were worried about doing with rushing all the issues. I dunno.

I did appreciate that while Sun was drunk, Ozone was absolutely sober and that the kiss didn't go further than a kiss.

Overall, honestly, I adored it. I can't deny that. I loved both the boys and their friendship and even if I was a little frustrated at Ozone's reaction to Sun.. I understood it. It makes sense. Their hurt and their pain and their fears and their lives... the characters are so young and so naive and it makes sense that the littlest hurts are so, so big.

I'm really wondering and looking forward to seeing what else they do with the other couples but I'm also a little sad that we won't be getting follow-up episodes for these couples or even just one epilogue-style episode for everyone.

Fair warning, I probably won't be watching the three het episodes, but we'll see I suppose.

I thought I'd hate this gay bashing storyline in the beginning but as it went on it just became comical how obsessed this kid was with torturing Ozone. Like, did I step into a Stephen King novel? Why was the bully Like That? Lmao.
