People like Cooheart and Tong Thanayut have discussed at length how much being out matters in their industry. The gist is that it's limited their roles, in the past and today, to be fully out & proud.

Leading BL dudes at companies like GMMTV are not allowed to be openly gay OR have a partner if they want to be cast automatically in future projects, an industry process known in slang as shortlisting.

I appreciate that Thailand is doing a great job at gay rights (and I'm so grateful to the gays in Thailand we have to thank, including Tong) but the truth is that gay rights don't mean automatic power when straight people are still the ones making the decisions at the very top, and still who those at the very top consider when making decisions. It's the same as Hollywood, Bollywood, etc.

Playing gay and being gay are different things. Playing gay gets you awards and shortlisted for future projects while being gay means you don't get shortlisted anymore. Yeah, it's homophobic. That's the entire point.

"If people associate you with LGBT, it'll limit your range of work" .....to what? the fastest growing highly successful and most profitable series streaming industry in Thailand? lol bro please shut up
