Moon and Sun where looking a lot after Eclipse during the first days when he was brought home from the vet by their owner. They were just glad to have him back in their lives.

Eclipse was officially welcomed to the family as soon as he was feeling better!

OH YEAH what are avarage life expectancies for sirenians?

Probably what you'd expect! For the sake of not hurting my head, these are earth years. The zeta are the shortest-lived, growing old around 60-70. Then it's the landstrider harpies with an average lifespan of 80 (no coincidence that the terrestrial ones have the shortest lifespans). then any given harpy hybrid around 100ish, the same as the average human life expectancy at the time of settling.

Shortwings and longwings actually have the same longevity with an expectancy of 120ish years, but shortwings become markedly elderly much sooner than longwings and usually lose their ability to fly in their 80s. Flying is much easier for longwings, and a very elderly longwing can fly right up til they die of old age, though by then they won't be flapping, only active gliding like an albatross.

Selkies can expect to live about 130 years if nothing goes wrong. The sea is a dangerous place to live and a high infant mortality tends to drag the average down, but if they survive adolescence their chances of living til old age shoot up.

Phocids are the biggest but also the slowest growing and they don't even reach their full length until they're 30-35 years old, or older in some cases (esp. polar individuals). They have a similar issue with infant mortality skewing averages but many villages' all-bearers, the eldest and most experienced phocids who run the villages, can be over 200 years old. Just good luck getting there

So our doggy is currently 36 and will turn 37 in a few months 🐶 He's a summer child!

Guuuuuyyyyyys!!!! I'm freaking out!!!!!!

First of all, it was SO funny seeing Eclipse left completely unsure of what to do in this interaction! Like, Lunar's just here talking casually with him, and with no shouting or confrontation, Eclipse just has no idea what to do! He's giving the answers he knows his original self would have. But then, Lunar brings up a point. He told Eclipse he could hit him if he wanted to, leading to Eclipse just being completely baffled. When Lunar then just directly asked if Eclipse WANTED to hit him, Eclipse delivered such obvious deflection that even Lunar picked up on it! The true answer WAS 'no', but that feeling and the memories he has conflict too much, so he just chooses to insult Lunar instead. Because what other option does he have? He DOESN'T want to hit Lunar, so all that's left is obviously just to yell at him and insult him. That's what the memories show his two options being.

And then, we have even more instances of Eclipse directly stating that he isn't the 'real' Eclipse. And beyond that, he DOWNRIGHT SAYS what I talked about yesterday! He KNOWS that everyone sees him as the original Eclipse, so he thinks there's no point in trying to be any different! I'm honestly sort of surprised that he admitted this to Lunar! Still, he's not going to bother trying to convince Sun, and DEFINITELY Moon, or this because he knows in his mind that it wouldn't make a difference. So, he might as well just keep up that image, especially since it's all he knows anyway.

He keeps complaining about people trying to "psychoanalyze" him, but like, how could anyone NOT?! He keeps so much to himself, that it's pretty much the only way to come anywhere close to understanding him!

Raven smiles brightly at their offer, wings puffing up. She shifts the humans in her grip so that she can give a one arm hug to both Sun and Moon.

Artemis wakes up, then coos at Uma, who gives her a warm look. Then the kit starts gnawing on Raven's fingers

"Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!!! I won't let you down!"

She pulls away, looking down at Uma and Artemis, "Did you hear that you guys?! I get to take you home with me! Isn't that amazing?!"

Uma gives her a small smile while Artemis continues to teethe.

"I'll have to tell my roommate, and I'm sure he'll love you guys to death!"

Raven continues to rabble on and on about what she can do to help make her two new humans comfortable, while turning and heading to the shelter's sign-out desk.

Sun and Moon are more than happy to hear that Ms. Raven has agreed to take in the two humans for the time being. And who knows, the way she is talking up a storm with them, it might end up as a foster-fail and she ends up adopting them.

Before they left, Sun made sure to set up an appointment for Artemis's next round of shots. And Moon gave Ms. Raven their contact information if she needs to contact them if she was any inquiries.

The brothers always loved visiting the shelter every month, but today must be one of their favorite trips they ever made.
