Im always thinking about the tubbo execution t.b.h.
coz like it sucked for EVERYONE but schlatt and wilbur, who orchestrated it. Techno realized his allies didn’t give a shit about him. Tubbo was killed traumatically. Tommy watched his best friend be murdered by a man who he thought was his ally. The crowd is various levels of shocked depending on their allegiance
#I.D.K. I’m not like a tubbohead or anything. This is purely from a techno fan lens.#Like. Techno realized that he would not be helped as he had helped them.#I think thats really when the initial wither thing became an Idea„ if not the absolute final choice.#I think he still had hope that they’d get rid of schlatt and then at LEAST there’d be an election or something. If not the complete#Dissolution of lmanburg as a nation.#Like he knew that nobody gave a shit if he lived or died#That his allies thought him to be a monster. But still he committed to them in the hopes that they would repay his loyalty. And they did !!#I guess !!!!! They repayed him by giving him reason to start killing !!!#Ughghgh.#Just. Standing on the podium with schlatt and quackity and the entire server behind his back. And stalling.#Waiying for your ALLIES to come fucking help. To make any sort of distraction. To give him an out or smt.#And they don’t. Nobody does antthing. Techno is fully fucking alone !!!!#I think its like magical.#Such a defining moment for him.#No matter how much I give and give and give I cannot expect kindness in return so I have to stop being taken advantage of !!!! Only other#Thing I know how to do is massacre. So I guess thats what we’re doing now.#Its so fundamental to his character that he is extremely giving and also completely unwilling to take shit after the first wither event.#I call it the first wither event because I can’t remember the cannon name.#The festival ? Shrugggg.#rat.op.tag#technoblade#rat.techno.tag#ander stop writing the entire post in the tags challenge.#Its just EASIERR.

I genuinely don't think Curly would be as caring for Jimmy as some people depict him in aus where Jimmy gets stuck and burned rather than Curly.
I feel like the realization would truly hit in that moment of what Jimmy did and how bad it was as Curly desperately tries to get him out of the cockpit. He's trying to break in to save Jimmy, but is he? All the thoughts in his head; Jimmy's trying to kill them all, Jimmy's trapped in the cockpit, Jimmy raped Anya, Jimmy's going to die trapped in the cockpit, Jimmy trying to kill them all because of what he did to Anya, and sort of a final Jimmy did this. Is he trying to save him or trying to figure out why? Trying to finally make him take accountability? You can't hold trial for a dead man. Does he want Jimmy to die? Not really, but it'd be easier than figuring out where they go after this. After they drag him out and get his set up in medical and Jimmy refuses to look at anyone but him.
He's the only one who is truly willing to care for Jimmy. I don't think he's keeping him alive for the same reasons, just he can't bring himself to put him down. He wants answers, he wants to be mad. This is the first time he can talk to Jimmy and not have anything spun back at him but he can't get a response. He's never really been able to but for the first time Jimmy actually has to listen and he'll never know if he's actually listening to him this time. It reminds him too much of not understanding Anya. Anya has to care for him and he doesn't want her too, she shouldn't have to but they can't just let him die, can they? Should they? It's easier than hearing him in pain but that's a reminder he did this... even if Curly allowed it to happen.
No one seems to have thoughts on it but him and Anya. They know the reason he crashed the ship but they don't get the logic. Anya does actually, but Curly has to admit he does to. Has to admit he's always known Jimmy's logic behind things, things that need to be "fixed" but he's always taken responsibility and fixed it himself. The first time he really let Jimmy take responsibility and he couldn't, he can't fix anything and Curly know he can't either. He looks at Jimmy and sees every mistake but now he's wondering how many of Jimmy's he's been tacking on to his own. How different are they?
What should he had done to stop it? Maybe this should've happened to him...
Curly doesn't like those thoughts and how they only come when he's stuck with Jimmy, like he's always done to himself. He's way too gentle when he gives Jimmy his pills, too mindful of teeth that always gave him hollow smiles. A tongue that always told half truths, while he held his own. He holds his jaw too kindly and thinks about all the times he's clenched his and smiled for his friends sake. For Jimmy's sake. Jimmy still swallows the pills and struggles, whines like it's not his fault.
He hoped it hurt.
And he's a little scared that he's a little too okay thinking that.
#just i dont think hed sit and that med bay and remines hes staring Jimmy down with anger for the first time in their friendship#whatever tatters of it are left hes letting himself be angry at Jimmy and he cant even give a consequence he doesn't even know how aware or#lucid or able Jimmy is to really grasp all this the sentimental part of him hopes not at all but the part of him thats taken his crap for#all these years that let him get away with so much to him and sadly to others? He wants him awake and aware for every moment like I feel#like hed get close to hitting Jimmy like this and stop himself as he realizes he needs to talk to someone cause he has very no healthy#feelings about himself and Jimmy and the situation and the whole scenerio is defined by him being scared to do the same things that Jimmy#does and just trying to accept that Jimmy was never there for him and he was there for him too much and trying really hard to do right by#everyone else but espcially Anya who'd he have more guilt about than Jimmy obvi but how much of it is him taking responsibility for Jimmy v#the already extreme guilt of not knowing if his crew will get out alive is debatable like he'd want to kill himself but not think he's#deserving and its just him being like okay guys captain curly's got this and then crying while he locks himself in the cockpit#mouthwashing#mouthwashing game#captain curly#curly mouthwashing#anya mouthwashing#nurse anya#jimmy mouthwashing

#hazbin hotel#husk#hazbin husk#alastor#hazbin alastor#hazbin hotel edit#hazbin edit#radio demon#requested#make me choose#my gifs#dad beat dad#flashing gif#flickering gif#the full ask said ''in whichever way you define'' at the end so#i chose based off of which dynamic i'm more intrigued by. valentino as a villain and as a challenge to angel is REALLY interesting dont get#me wrong here. it's great. but THESE two have a lot of untapped potential for husk specifically#alastor is just there at the moment but HUSK. husk. it really is a mirror to angel's situation - everything wrong in his afterlife is#because of that gamble. but he WAS an overlord. HE was the one doing that horrible shit before. that's INTERESTING!!#he gathered and gambled away souls like money. it was all just a game to him. now HE'S getting his. a sick poetic justice in a way.#i am SO excited to see if they dive into this more!! will he ever self reflect? if he does will we SEE him doing this reflection? will it#be enough to play a part in him choosing to redeem himself? or even decide if redemption is worth the effort? i feel like there's potential#with his dynamic with alastor to influence that big time + his friendship with angel will also be a major factor#also making this set made me realize the hallway scene is like their one major interaction. jfc and it's fucking HORRIFYING lmao#look i loved their pilot interaction/dynamic as much as the next person but this is just. SO much better. more things to explore.#i'm really glad in the end that they were rewritten in this way. A+

sorry but do you ever think about the fact that the bernard we have today is a direct amalgamation of everything that happened in his past and i know that sound like such an obvious statement to say but it actually kills me to know that you can draw a direct line from who he is today all the way back to that sixteen year old boy who watched his best friend bleed out. like it is the defining moment in his life. it fundamentally shaped who he is and the person he's become. he is the bernard we know and love not despite the grieves shooting but because of it. because the gangs all got together and shot up his school. because tim walked out of that room with nothing but a baseball bat. because his darla got shot. because he watched her gasp and cry as she died. because he watched the blood coagulate around the wound. because he sat there and held her hand as her life drained out of her. because he walked into school that day with a joke he knew would make her laugh and her nose would scrunch up and she'd snort a little and tim would roll his eyes at him and call him ridiculous and instead he walked out with a bloody white shirt, blood under his fingernails, and two friends less. because, even now, almost half a decade out from the shooting, he thinks that if he closes his eyes, he will always be that stupid, scared little sixteen year old, holding the cooling body of dead best friend.
#there is a direct throughline from the boy we meet in robin 121 all the way to man tim reconnects with in urban legends 4#like maybe you guys have other interpretations of it but to me this is *the* defining moment in his life#and that's not to say that he perpetually bound to this traumatic event but it impacted him sooo much that his life is now divided#before shooting and after shooting#like you cannot tell me him falling into the cult was just something that happened to him#it happened bc he was in such a bad place from watching his friend die and then on top of that he loses contact with tim!!!!#this is his canon event!!!!#if you took it away from him if you made it so that he never had to go through it#the bernard we would get would not be the same bernard we got in urb leg4 and tdr#does it not make you want to chew on drywall that to get to the bear we love he has watch his darla die first????#head in hands head in hands#and it wasnt like batman came immediately after darls died!!! iirc they had to wait a little before he came#which means!!!!! alll those kids but bear esp had to sit in that room with darls' dead body until batman came!!!!!#do you think he cried and held her hand until batman came??? do you think he begged her not to go??? or do you think he told her#stories and made promises of all the things they were gonna do after they got out??? do you think he put pressure on the wound and#watched as the blood soaked through the jacket they were using as a towel??? and when she finally passed do you think he bit his lip#clean through to stop himself from wailing? bc if he's too loud the gunmen will hear them and he cannot be the reason jay from#history dies#auuuugh i cant fucking do this anymore#bernard dowd#timbern#darla aquista#louis grieve trio

Angel Dust Turns Human - Pg2
Part 1
I'm so sorry about the quality, idk what size the canvas should be when it comes to comics, this is technically my 1st one☹️. I PRAY it doesn't look crappy on other people's end💔
Anyways, I had drawn these 2 pages (technically 4ish with how I spread them out) within 3-2 days bc I just rlly wanted the idea to get done already🤲 Sorry if the pacing wasn't that good when I introduced Alastor - again, I don't know how to convey that in 'comic form' (?) since this is my 1st, but I tried😔 (it probably needed more frames/pics but I was rlly lazy).
If you couldn't tell (☹️), Alastor & Angel Dust have some backstory (!!!) - Alastor didn't realize until he saw his human form, which looks very different from his Hell form. The majority of this is in Angel's pov, so this is kinda unreliable narrator, in a way. I need to mention, idk if anyone's written/drawn anything w a human in Hell, but my first thought was they'd definitely pass out from the heat usually portrayed - hence the heat exhaustion; Angel kinda passes out before he could fully react. Btw, I don't like how I drew Angel on pg6 so let's ignore it🙏
Also, Alastor pronounces his name as "Antoní", or An-tone-nee, with emphasis on the last sylabel, which is why it's spelled with an accented "i" - I just forgot to use that when I wrote the dialouge💔
My fav thing to draw was him holding Angel's face and carrying him, Parental Alastor fans RISE✊️!
#hazbin hotel#alastor#angel dust#charlie morningstar#hazbin art#lucifer morningstar#human au?#fanart#fan comic#parental figure#yandere love#/platonic#no romance#parental alastor#parental yandere#found family#sorry if I draw lucifer iffy - Ive never drawn him in my life tbh he just never interested me that much#I LOVE YOU ANGEL DUST🫶#drawing Alastor carry Angel was a bit difficult for a moment - Idk if Ive ever tried drawing a pose like that#I liked it in the end tho; father carrying his sick son♡#its a rlly rare pairing (/platonic) but I like it☹️#ooc? definently. But Angel needs someone to look up to so I made Alastor the guy#Anyways pg3 is gonna be the backstory yayaya😁

its so so insane how dean has like. the huge fanbase he does. he is AWFUL!!!! i love him truly but im known for loving awful characters in fandoms im used to characters who act like him being viciously hated!!! and the only explanation i can think of is that hes played by jensen ackles (aka pretty white man). theres the fact that the narrative favours dean a lot when hes not actually right (a la s4) but thats not just it because dean is pretty clear-cut presesnted as getting morally greyer to the point of antihero territory in like s9 (where im at) at least. and Yet. he is unproblematic ally king to all??? supportive brother of the century??? Girl what???? do you know who dean winchester is? he is a controlling possessive clingy manipulative aggressive unstable thirty five year old who cant grow past his own damage and never really will because the narrative is perpetuated by the cycles he keeps perpetuating
#thing is like. the narrative corrupts dean under the guise of heroism and makes him worse and worse while it punishes sam under the guise of#justice and hurts him more and more#its like how their most defining moments of hell trauma respectively is dean torturing others and sam getting tortured#dean is The Good One and sam is The Bad One but the narrative pushes dean so much and makes him so angry he breaks and gets worse#and more 'villainous' (bad word). and the narrative hurts sam so much for the crime of being born the bad son that he just becomes more and#more of a victim. at the start of the show dean is michael and sam is lucifer. thats their destined roles. but by season nine dean is cain#and sam is abel. thats what it comes down to. Augh.#and they need to keep being codependent and resurrecting each other and needing each other forever and ever and getting worse and more#damaged in tandem because thats how the show even exists. meta!#and all this is soo like. because in supernatural the narrative is god. god is the author of their book series. Christ#what a show. its SO good despite not being good at all.#spn#oliver talks#supernatural#dean winchester#sam winchester#spn meta

Would it be pre-emptive to start shipping Sun Wukong and Erlang Shen now that it’s almost guaranteed that we’re getting Erlang in the show?
(I think I might call it “Goldengaze?? I’m making a bot and I need to call it something…)
#Lego Monkie Kid#LMK#Sun Wukong#Erlang Shen#Goldengaze#Honestly though#the way that Erlang treats Wukong in-universe#is probably gonna be the defining factor in whether or not I drop the show#I CANNOT sit through another ‘scream at Wukong for his centuries old mistakes’ moment#I cannot fucking take it anymore#let him have ONE positive figure from the past who does not hate or distrust him#if it’s just more ‘shriek at Wukong’ while pretending that Macaque and the DB fam haven’t ever done anything wrong#then I’m probably done

thoughts on dave and aradia (<>)?
day 356
BIG fan tbh. in this house we love and respect timerails
truly yall read this log and tell me theyre not cute
#day 356#year 4#dave strider#aradia megido#aradave#homestuck#she really saw this kid and was like OH YOU HAVE ISSUES WITH YOUR MORTALITY?? :D#boy do i have some relevant life experience and wisdom to impart on THAT ISSUE SPECIFICALLY#and then she just. very gently and kindly makes the subject more approachable for ghostdave#the pesterlog i linked is literally my FAVORITE aradia moment. to me it is THE character defining moment for god tier aradia#yes she is being kind of ominous and trickstery at first#but it VERY quickly becomes clear shes got genuine concern for this kid she's had very little to do with up until this point#she really wants to connect with him over their shared time aspect stuff#and she really DOES care about how he feels about everything. she wants to help and she wants to put him at ease#because she KNOWS from experience that being dead and having to cope with what that means for you is like VERY UPSETTING AND TRAUMATIC#shes not just like. 'hee hee i think death is great and awesome because im edgy'#shes like 'no dude being dead is scary if you dont have anybody to explain this shit to you. so im going to explain it-'#'-and hopefully by the end of this conversation you will have some new things to feel relief and maybe even joy and excitement about'#'not just in spite of the death thing but BECAUSE of it'#i know shes spooky and has weirdgirl swag and we all love that about her but like#at her core she is a very KIND person. she may occasionally struggle to connect to people through the Death Special Interest Haze#but she WANTS to and when she DOES she is like. a genuinely very warm and comforting presence for her friends#ANYWAY. if andrew hussie or i guess james roach now want to give me an honorary doctorate for my 12+ years of intensive aradia studies#i will be here waiting patiently#timerails

#oh? you’re characters in a three part iconic series that came out in the mid 2000’s#and one of you is a wealthy abused child with heavily symbolic burns scars who undergoes a redemption arc that concludes in the third part#of the franchise who’s villainy is defined by an attachment to an abusive father and a need to please him despite him not at all deserving#your loyalty and your redemption is internally motivated by your own experiences and defined by a moment where you realize who you want to#actually be? and you’re connected to a lot of shipping drama despite honestly seeming gay as fuck?#and a consistently heroic male lead with romantic drama including a brief relationship with a light haired woman that you have regrets about#and a lighter haired woman who majorly influences your character arc and you can tell is cool as fuck because men hate her? and your arc#revolves around maturing and going through various circumstances that basically function as a mini coming of age story in a piece of fiction#not of that genre? and you have baggage related to family members who you feel responsible for the fates of? and you put an intense amount#of personal pressure on yourself because you see yourself as a protector and if you can’t do that you’ve failed?#and you’re emotionally superglued to each other despite lots of disasterous first interactions?#atla#avatar the last airbender#sokka#atla sokka#zuko#prince zuko#harryposting#harry osborn#raimiverse#raimi trilogy#spider man#spiderman#peter parker#parksborn#zukka

Ricciardo “had a very open chat” with Mekies following F1 Monaco GP to try and understand 2024 difficulties via PitDebrief
#Monaco really bore down heavily on him. it’s no wonder he didn’t want to get up and dance on the Monday after!!#it’s fascinating to me how he can simply look inwards and try to see what’s not working#and somehow train his mind to overcome that …. the athlete mindset is truly fascinating#it’s also very interesting of him mentioning his ‘inner circle’ being there for him at Monaco#and im taking him to mean his parents and I can’t help thinking it’s whatever he and his dad talked about that truly helped him#which reminds me of Daniel always telling that story of his dad being so mad at him after this kart meet where he was too scared to overtake#and the fact he still brings that moment up over and over again because it went on to define him as a racer and put him on the path to f1#and maybe some wisdom from dad is all what it takes <3#daniel ricciardo#montreal24

general question for anyone whod care to answer: was there a moment that supernatural really clicked for you? for me i was enjoying it as a casual viewer for the first season but by the end of Heart it clicked and i went from enjoyment to obsessed
#i think heart was it because it was this huge defining moment of. like you will have to kill sam. this is what hes going to become. and when#sam gives dean this teary look before going to the next room to kill madison and deans single tear nd flinching at the sound of the gunshot#its sam being so small and afraid and so young and dean little brother and both dean and sam coming to this point where they both understan#this is what has to be done. you kill monsters. you cant let them live. youll have to kill him too.#its like. this HUGE defining moment. where they both rly reckon with sam being a monster and his death at deans hands.#yet i feel like its not rly talked abt in the fandom. i guess thats bc there r like 10 other moments like that in season 2#because supernatural likes to harp on about things then do nothing about them lol

One of my mutuals opinions is the "bro code" thing, that Curly is one of those guys who wouldn't care about the victim because the perpetrator is his friend and I'm really banging my head on the wall like that other anon. I've only played through the game once but Curly's behaviour/reactions etc read completely different from the "bro code" thing and I have to wonder if my mutual and I even played the same game.. like the constant digs at him from Jimmy, his body language in his face reveal and so on like you mentioned in your post. While this game is a little different obviously, it kind of reminded of a point in Alice Madness Returns that makes it very clear that Alice's pain blinded her to the abuse of the other children and her failure to act earlier because of it. Curly is guilty of a similar inaction but it doesn't change the fact he was a victim of Jimmy too. I don't think I can look at it any other way because both of these games have really stuck with me.
I genuinely think it really is the idea that people want a simple easy to blame problem and the idea that the only relatable victims of abuse are those that "surpass" it or do a lot to help others. When it comes to victims, especially those that don't fit the typical demographics, who either accidently perpetuate it, enable it or aren't ideal in some way shape or form, people jump to ignore what they went through as it's easier than dealing with those conflicting sentiments.
The bro-code conversation in Mouthwashing stems from a concept I generally dislike that there had to be something about Curly that made him meet or keep being friends with someone like Jimmy. I think people genuinely underestimate how many like decent and good people just know an asshole or are friends with someone who is really bad outside of their view/established dynamics. The game makes it clear none of the inaction against Jimmy is because of a lack of care, it is a lack of understanding from the privaleged postions they have as men to not have to worry about what Anya does/went through and the type of extremes men like Jimmy will go through to cover it up. They are all too preoccupied in their own strifes.
Another thing I see being oversaturated the idea that you have to be a freak, misanthrope or have a disorder to do the thing Jimmy does. The game is an escalation, it's a spiral that I don't see people comment on that Jimmy was not likely having the mood swings and episodes of rage/frustration we were seeing in the game. This is after they all start experiencing the worst moments in their lives that he got THAT openly bad. Of course, this is just my interpretation but much like in real life, people that go to extremes like that usually live mundane lives. It's a pressure cooker affect to where the stress made them pop. It's self inflicted but still the case.
I really think people need to be more willing to acknowledge that not everything needs to be an extreme or in black and white or easy to understand. It doesn't need to be happy or have an answer or solution, especially in the cases where the abused sadly helps perpetuate what they experience. It's not he should've known better from experience or shouldn't he have known what could've happened because victims tend to not like to think in matters of the worst. Not to mention, especially in cases of abuse where it feels so personally directed that you don't expect to happen to someone else.
#i also hear the bro code thing in tandem with his comments on saying he knows Jimmy but that is also in a much different context than#if he said it when Anya was actively telling him about the dead pixel or the pregnancy or even when she told jimmy that was about himself#and getting between Anya and Jimmy as in he knows Jimmy and knows he wont try anything when hes around not that he doesnt think hes#doing anything or doesn't believe Anya and Im a bit annoyed people shorthand or try to recontextualize the statements he makes about it#cause even the let me talk to him line is more in concern of what Jimmy could be doing and less wanting to make sure hes okay and#being more worried about his friend than Anya in that moment like removing the context makes the sentiments sound more uncaring#and typically but the context is how they are deconstructed to give the story and themes a deeper nuance because Anya is happy that Curly#says that becuase he leads it under the idea of protecting her as he knows and she has likely seen/experienced it enough that Jimmy#back down/off around Curly typically as we see he does relatively subdue Jimmy's attitude before the eval and it only gets bad once the#scene at the birthday party happens when Jimmy is likely in a mode where hes not going to listen to Curly about anything after cause he fee#personally betrayed in a selfish egotistical way like the game is a deconstruction nothing is supposed to a typical one to one on the#concepts it handles. this also ties to me like getting more and more annoyed everytime is see a post making Curly the most milktoast#no opinions ever sort of guy when he does have a personality outside of enabling Jimmy and has opinions on things like the QnA's#talking about him being snow Tony Hawk flesh him out more realistically than think pieces saying he has no opinions on anything#and would never take stances like this is a immediate dire circumstance with multiple facets I dont think hed hesitate to help if he active#saw like someone getting attacked on the street or that hes a centrist that doesnt care about womans issues like this is the equivalent#of when a character gets dumbed down to their like favorite food and one defining aspect of themselves and even then I feel like everyone#else but the mouthwashing fandom has a better grasp of that aspect before they make it unrecognizable.#mouthwashing#mouthwashing game#curly mouthwashing#captain curly#ask#anon

My opinion on the matter in as few words as possible and why I want Moash to persist as a character through the second half of the series.
#stormlight#stormlight archive#cosmere#cfsbf#i don't even mind the depiction of killing elhokar as a bad thing. phenomenal moment#but my issue with it is it says ''DONT DO WHAT MOASH DOES'' and doesnt even humor the respond ''then what should you do''#my amaram essay is still floating out but currently the Moash plot is entirely defined by:#''YOU KILLING GUY YOU HATE BAD. ME KILLING GUY I HATE GOOD.'' which is such a nothingburger of commentary#killing amaram was an easy out to avoid answering the question on how you bring a man protected by the system to justice#words of radiance said killing isnt a viable option and then the following books dont tell you what is#oh just wait for the guy you hate to betray everyone and become possessed by a demon then killing him totally chill#it would have been particularly effective if it also looked at what made killing sadeas permissible#anyways. don't care that moash is a villain. only care that the books refuse to properly engage with him

Hello Ash.
I just finished She Who Became the Sun and I’m crying. Dying. Dead. Deceased. Thank you for jumpstarting the ripping out, stepping on, roasting, and eating of my heart that has just transpired.
Aside from the obvious Zhu and Ouyang, what’s your favorite character parallel in the first book?
HIII thank you THANK YOU im so happy the propaganda got you too <33 and HMM much to think about!! I will say that it's been a couple of years (I think?) since I read swbts so the details are fuzzy but one of my fave parallels are between Ouyang and Baoxiang, especially for how strong they become in hwdtw too. They are both seen as lesser and not conforming to the "male" mongol ideal, ouyang because he's a eunuch, wbx because he's not a warrior. They both go against their roles in a very explicit and performative way: ouyang by becoming a war machine and truly embodying the masculinity of a mongol warrior despite his inability to truly ever being considered one bc of his mutilation, wbx by refusing to become a warrior and acting super feminine (genuinely don't remember how much of it is genuine and how much is out of sheer spite but id say at some point the lines got blurred for him too. the guy has Problems.) Something something "femininity" being forced on someone vs being choosen and its Consequences. They hate each other. they're scheming together. they're scheming against each other. they loved Esen. they had to kill him. being gay is a curse. being gay is a game and i am winning. they fucked each other in a parallel reality. and most importantly they're twinks. this does not even begin to cover how insane their dynamic truly is.
#when in hwdtw u discover that a good 70% of wang's insanity was caused by the homophobic rage ouyang brought forth in him gkfdjkfjgkd#ANOTHER TASTY ONE IS MA AND ESEN!!! THE LOVERS THE HEART THE COMPASS THE OBJECT OF AFFECTION!!#Ma embodying the feminine ideal while Esen embodies the masculine one#they're both defined by their love and by wearing their heart on their sleeve#as a counterpart to Zhu who did Not know empathy before meeting Ma and fell in love with her for this very reason#and ouyang who is certified insane the only emotions he feels are a blood curdling scream and repressed homosexuality#I think of them as like. zhu and ouyang's external hearts.#ouyang had to kill his own to complete his destiny and it killed him too in the end#zhu succeeded bc in the Decisive Moment she listened to hers#oh also they're both thicc#welcome to my sick and twisted mind im not normal about them all in case it wasn't clear#the radiant emperor#ash replies

do you have any thoughts on zelda not staying as a dragon? me personally I like it and am very cool with it mostly because I think zelda should get to be happy forever (and because I'm smart enough to know she changed back because of recall and not some ambiguous power of love lmao) but a lot of people seem to dislike that it made the draconification inconsequential?
i think there's like. some valid concerns surrounding inconsequentiality/"curing" the physical problems characters have as a way of giving them a "happy ending" but I think those concerns don't necessarily apply to totk in the way people seem to be applying them, especially irt zelda's draconification and link's arm.
most of the time when the criticism of this "magic cure" trope is applied to media, it's because the trope is used as a cure-all to erase a character's suffering or trauma and make them "normal" again, and often ignores the character development or themes of the story in favor of giving the character a happy ending. I don't think that applies to totk, though, because the "curing" link and zelda experience is both within the realm of possibility given the worldbuilding present in the game (recall could easily have done it, as you mentioned) AND thematically consistent with the rest of the game. One of if not the most important central themes of totk is the idea of failure and second chances. we see a hyrule that has been given a second chance after link's initial failure with the calamity brought it to the brink of destruction. we see characters who were deeply unhappy and entrenched in the shame of their precalamity mistakes like purah and zelda become active, beloved members of their communities. we see the people of lurelin village take back and rebuild their destroyed home. we watch this kingdom and its people make an unprecedented comeback after a century of struggle and ruin.
Similarly, totk's gameplay is LINK's second chance, his comeback from the initial mistake of losing zelda, of specifically being unable to reach her with his injured hand when they fell. The consequences of that--the master sword's corruption, the loss of his arm, and zelda's draconification, are all supposed to SEEM irreversible, because that's how LINK initially sees them. he believes that he doomed both himself and zelda all because of that SINGLE moment in which he wasn't enough, a viewpoint which is obviously left over from the pressure he experienced to perform to an impossible standard of perfection pre-calamity. The story of totk is about deconstructing that belief and proving it wrong. the mistake he made caused harm, but it's never too late to repair things. he can fix the regional phenomena ganondorf causes and rebuild those communities. he can revitalize the master sword. he can GET ZELDA BACK, with his own arm, uninjured and able to reach her this time. no matter how impossible those things may initially seem, no matter the perceived finality of his mistakes and their consequences, there is always hope. there is always a second chance. no one person's single mistake can doom an entire kingdom for eternity. the fate of hyrule was NEVER resting on link's shoulders alone. he was never their final hope. there was always going to be an after. the whole POINT of the draconification and the loss of link's arm is that they AREN'T final. they ARE inconsequential, because they were born of one mistake and ONE MISTAKE IS NOT THE END ALL.
#like. think about the message the game sends if zelda stays a dragon. we are saying that link CAN'T come back from this mistake.#that one single split-second moment in which he made the wrong move because he had no way of knowing what to do#means that the one person who understands and supports him above all else. the one person who shares his experience and his trauma#the woman he LOVES. is gone forever with no hope of return ever and it's 100% his fault.#that's not true to the themes of botw OR totk. these games are about growth and healing and second chances.#this game was link learning that he gets a second chance. that no move he makes is the final be-all-end-all fuckup.#it removes the pressure and that's the POINT. for a character like link whose life has been DEFINED by pressure#who was taught from a horrifically young age that any wrong move on his part would KILL EVERYONE HE KNEW AND LOVED#this is such an important lesson to learn. removing that pressure/showing him that it was never actually real in the first place#is a crucial step towards healing for him.#asks#zelda analysis#totk spoilers#like i like the idea of lasting consequences dont get me wrong. <draconic features zelda enjoyer#but like. making link keep the fucking rauru arm rubs me the wrong way. the whole point is that he caught her with his own hand in the end#ugh. anyway. you get the idea
