Not necessarily my future plans, well not just yet.
Makes me sad that I can’t drink their Milk Stout anymore. At least their take on an Imperial style fits the bill.

And another thing about my wife because I'm on the wife hype-train; she made this artwork for my first ever professional beer because she's a sweetheart.
People are out there in the world are drinking a beer I brewed out of love for a video game character! I feel so blessed to have a job I love.

Silva Brewing Silva Stout (Picked up at Windmill Farms). A 4 of 4. Had the original Silva Stout from Green Flash over a decade ago, and this reminds me a lot of the original (not sure re: the recipe). Tons of chocolate and roast coffee and a really nice round body. Incredibly rich and coffee/roast forward, and stays quite well-balanced with plenty of malt sweetness.

Tried out the Kirkland brand Vintage Ale. It is a bourbon barrel imperial stout by Deschutes Brewing. This is aged 9 months in the barrel and you can really pick up the vanilla, chocolate, and dark fruit. The bourbon is pretty prominent on the nose. I really liked it, but I think it could have used an additional 3 months in the barrel. This seems to me luke it will really age well and at $10 for a 22 oz bomber it is a great deal. Well worth picking up from Costco.

Beverage podcasting tonight at 6:30pm est! We've got Matcha Green Tea, Moonraker Brewing Imperial Nitro Stout and a very special rye whiskey. The bottle below is one I've been looking for since I had it a few years ago. Will the past match the present? twitch.tv/aboutbeverages

We finally went to this restaurant, not sure why it took so long, but…
We decided to go for Happy Hour during the week, because I’m an old grumpy man that doesn’t like crowds of people.
Leaf Vegetarian Restaurant. Boulder, CO.
It has all the things I like: 1) Happy Hour that starts at 3PM, 2) Plates to share, 3) Great cocktail list, from a quaint little bar, and 4) Not a lot of people.

Not pictured is the Vegan Crab Cake Slider, because I was hungry and forgot to snap it.
We’ll definitely be back, but only without a crowd.

Chicago Beer Pass: A Deep Woods Winter
Tumblr media
youtube
Welcome to the Chicago Beer Pass: Your ticket to all the great beer events happening in and around Chicago.
On this episode of Chicago Beer Pass, Brad Chmielewski and Nik White crack open a couple cans from the recent Revolution's Deep Wood series. It's unfortunate that they haven't kept up on these each month of the release because they are always fantastic. As the two of them sip on a few cans, they talk about the latest stouts that have been hitting the store shelves and they go into a few details about some other breweries that have announced they are closing.
