Finally got around to do a little room build using custom content.

The room (and the little description on the other post) are loosely inspired by a story of mine. I find it very hard to recreate places or characters I came up with in the Sims, so unfortunately there's not much likeness here to what I've originally imagined, but apart from that, I still really like how the room turned out.

wandering out of six flags by way of a gap in the fence and into some kind of church. i was a young woman who broke in, a tall window in a stairwell was propped open with a bottle of wine. i heard motion and went down the stairs, and down a hallway, stonefloored and windowless, until i entered a room with wooden supports, priests and nuns with hundreds of children, watching some kids movie, the children were crying, when i stepped in the staff swivelled and fixed on me and asked me where my room was. i decided to only be passing through, they seemed angry, i went up some stairs in that room and got a good look at their scowls. heading up into a hallway lined with books, i went to the far end, heard loud footsteps, and went through handle-less wood veneer doors, to see daylight in the steel barred windows and children sleeping on the cheapest cots you can imagine, stacked up chairs and white paint. two hallways were there, one straight ahead and another to the right, i tried to get my bearings more only to be caught by doctors. i started walking, managed to leave them behind, they wont lay a finger on me, just chiding me, threatening me that security wouldnt be happy, and i knew that came with pain here, so i kept running, i saw glass boxes with children sleeping under rags, they bolt up to see me and some are missing eyes, im running and i trip, cut to someone, not me, in a cell having their face shoved into soup so hot it gives them third degree burns , and they respond "can we do something else? theres only so many times you can do this before its just like... exclamation point!" they shove his face back in and crack the bowl before i wake up

levi  is  two  years  into  his  service  when  smith  goes  looking  for  curiosity.  they  stand  outside  the  headquarters  of  the  military  police.  winter  puffs  their  breath,  &  they  wait  for  the  reassembling  of  a  meeting  between  all  factions  of  the  military  –  military,  garrison,  survey.

levi  has  been  impatient,  bouncing  his  leg  beneath  the  table.  &  smith  thanks  him  anyway.

they  take  the  winter  air,  counter  the  meeting’s  suffocation.  smith  twitches  his  fingers  at  his  side,  craves  a  cigarette.  the  company  he  keeps  here  always  changes  his  habits,  increases  his  vices.

but  he  goes  looking  for  curiosity.  ‘  at  your  time  of  previous  employee  —  did  you  have  a  plan  to  manage  my  death  without  leaving  yourself  under  suspicion  ?  ‘

because  it’s  something  that  smith  mentions  strategically,  biannually,  when  something  comes  up  that  makes  him  think.  it’s  easy  to  imagine  what  levi  would  have  been  pledged  in  the  event  of  his  success:  money,  papers,  legality.  it’s  harder  to  imagine  how  that  would  have  been  feasible  —  who  would  have  been  paid  off  in  the  survey  corps  to  disguise  the  nature  of  a  murder  because  1  )  the  survey  corps  protects  its  own.  2  )   smith  had  pushed  levi  into  the  limelight,  had  made  him  a  suspect  before  the  crime.

an  unfortunate  truth  :  it’s  a  high  crime  to  kill  a  military  man,  &  a  higher  crime  still  to  kill  someone  of  rank.

so  smith  has  to  ask  :  how  would  you  have  done  it  ?

it’s  morbid  curiousity.  it’s  foresight.

one  way  or  another,  a  monster  will  kill  him.  there  are  three  avenues  of  possibility.  1  ) he  will  die  bloody  &  severed  by  a  humanoid  bite.  2  )   he  will  die  by  his  own  demand,  die  as  a  gambler.  3  )   he  will  die  by  politics.  he  has  spent  a  lot  of  time  watching  wine  stain  the  beards  of  those  who  loiter  in  power;  he  knows  their  secrets,  uses  them,  cheats  them.

smith  is  late  night  excursions,  paying  personal  prices  for  high  priced  information.  smith  is  late  night  work.  he  refuels  his  lantern  &  pens  letters  that  sometimes  verge  on  poetry,  sometimes  verge  on  legal  speak,  sometimes  something  romantic,  something  too  friendly.

wordsmith,  silvertongue.

when  death  threats  come,  they  aren’t  written  in  big  block  letters.  they  come  in-between  the  lines,  they  come  in  rumors  that  smith  acknowledges  with  the  tilt  of  his  head.

so  there  is  a  stack  of  letters  collecting  dust  in  his  bottom  desk  drawer.  things  to  pay  attention  to,  things  that  he  should  be  on  guard  for.

it  takes  four  years  for  levi  to  learn  about  the  bottom  desk  drawer.  he’s  not  surprised,  but  he  isn’t  pleased.  when  levi  learns  about  the  drawer,  smith  watches  his  posture  change.

wordsmith,  silvertongue,  fall  flat.

it  takes  five  years  for  a  threat  to  become  imminent.  it’s  public,  &  it’s  a  little  awful.  in  theory,  there’s  a  woman  who  has  a  mountain  of  lies,  who  embezzles,  who  thrives.  in  theory,  there’s  her  husband.  a  desperate  man  who  doesn’t  know  what  to  trust.  in  theory,  there’s  a  lot  of  reason  for  blame.  there’s  a  lot  of  reason  to  name  a  scapegoat.

in  theory,  there’s  a  lot  of  reason  to  load  a  gun  to  take  aim.

it’s  a  stonefloored,  stonewalled  outdoor  marketplace.  there’s  levi,  frowning  at  the  sun  &  pretending  he  doesn’t  see  one  of  the  entrances  to  the  underground.  there  are  civilians,  loading  fabric  bags  with  loaves  of  bread.

there’s  smith,  shaking  hands  with  a  city  treasurer.  a  carriage  waits,  &  the  treasure  sweats.  smith  is  impeccable.  dressed  in  long  sleeves,  &  impeccable.

there  is  slow-motion  tranquility.  there  is  calm  &  mundane.

there  is  a  crack.

there  are  craned  necks,  turning  so  quick  to  trace  the  sound  —  shouts  &  mostly  confusion  &  gunfire  is  not  common  here.  people  don’t  know  what  to  expect.

there  is  a  crack,  &  the  window  to  a  post-office  shatters.

people  understand  then,  &  they  become  a  swarm  of  insects.

smith  shoves  the  treasurer  into  the  carriage,  ducks  down.

there  is  a  crack,  &  the  horse  drawing  the  carriage  rears.  blooms  of  stone  fly  up,  &  it’s  stone  exploding  up  at  smith’s  feet.  it  tears  the  fabric  of  his  pants.

there  is  a  known  target  now.  there  is  a  known  shooter—  dressed  too  expensively,  weaponized  with  a  shaking  hand.  he’s  not  a  soldier.

there  is  a  crack,  &  it  doesn’t  miss;  the  shooter  is  too  close  to  miss  —-  but  it  doesn’t  hit  where  it’s  a  terrible  blow.

from  a  distance  :  maybe  it  looks  like  a  close  call.

smith  doesn’t  stagger,  though.

there  is  red  blooming  at  the  shoulder  of  his  long  sleeves;  then  there’s  a  lot  of

confusion.  a  lot  of  too  fast  action.  people  coming  &  going.  the  shrill  whistle  of  military  police,  the  shouts  of  people  recommending  action,  red  blooming  at  the  shoulder  of  his  long  sleeves,  levi  alert,  grabbed  wrists,  thrown  guns,  stonefloors  &  stonewalls  indifferent.

levi  seems  confused  too;  smith  just  feels  disoriented  &  relentless.

but  first  there’s  the  press  of  levi’s  hand  against  smith’s  heart  —-  a  tactile  check  that  the  bullet  had  not  gone  there  —  that  the  life  is  still  pumping.

smith  drops,  sits  at  the  footstep  of  the  carriage  (not  yet  departed).  he  hears  static,  he  feels  heat,  he  feels  hurt.

he  feels  vindictive  satisfaction,  &  the  summer  sun  blares  on.

levi’s  hand  leaves  his  chest.  levi’s  voice  swears  &  then  he’s  so  close  —-

close  call  bullet  wounds.  close  call  presses  of  forehead  to  forehead.  relief  relief  relieve.  unspoken thank  god.   close  call  embrace.  it’s  hazy  to  think  how  close  pain  sometimes  feels  to  relief.  close  call  exposure.

this  is  too  public  :  levi  disguises  as  an  afterthought  —  helping  him  to  a  better  seat  than  the  the  footstool  of  a  carriage.

smith’s  legs  work  fine.

there  is  red  blooming  at  the  shoulder  of  his  long  sleeves.  his  face  pinches  because  the  pain  is  there,  &  it’s  obnoxious.  levi’s  grip  is  still  there  at  his  good  shoulder,  &

seated  anew  (  in  a  chair  belonging  to  a  baker  ),  erwin  bleeds.

he’s  not  quite  impeccable.

but  he  tilts  his  head  up,  considers  the  summer  sun  &  remembers  foresight.

‘  that  is  not  how  you  would  kill  me,  ‘  he  offers  beneath  his  breath.  he  is  not  dying  —  but  he  could  have.  he  is  not  dying  —  but  for  a  second,  levi  saw  the  worst.

erwin  covers  levi’s  hand  on  his  shoulder  with  his  own.

he  gives  him  that.
