Reflecting on Aleister Crowley’s Quote: A Buddhist and Stoic Perspective
I recently discussed the Buddhist and Stoic perspectives on Aleister Crowley’s work with my Sangha, and I’d like to share a glimpse of that conversation with you. We began with the following quote: “It is the mark of the mind untrained to take its own processes as valid for all men, and its own judgments for absolute truth.”― Aleister Crowley, Magical and Philosophical Commentaries on The Book…

A Short Hellerby Fanfiction
Mordecai leaped over the wooden crate as a string of bullets followed him. He panted as he reloaded his revolver. As he did, bullets shot against the crate, some of them going through it, and barely grazing the cat.
His eyes fully dilated at the rush of rounds soaring around him. This wasn’t his first rodeo with violence and he’d be damned if it was his last. Then, a sudden silence.
Such a quiet felt like forever. It was shrouded by the swiftness of his heartbeat, the idle wind passing around them, and the shuffling of feet and anxious hands trying to reload. A soft curse under the tongue. The enemy was impatient, ruthless, and he was not docile to their demands.
After a click of the hammer, he shot up over the crate, standing while glaring back at his assailants, before firing the shots. One by one they kneeled over into a bloody mess. Suits drenched with moist redness, stained as the brush from the colour of pomegranates.
As the last one fell, crawling towards some semblance of safety, Mordecai walked over, aiming again.
“Do not double cross us again.” He pushed a heel onto the tannish cat’s leg, the exit wound spurting from his abdomen. The cat groaned and cried out in pain. Mordecai was prepared for just the occasion. He wore his black leather gloves and leaned over the dying man, opening his waistcoat, and pulled out a letter which now was stained in a darkish hue of reddish brown.
“I’ll take this. Property of Marigold. A thief knows the number one rule is to never be spotted out as such. You failed in just this mere task. Such an inkling would make one surmise you to be a beginner. A novice pickpocket. A dandy who knows not a lick of what it means…” he steps off the man and dusts his own waistcoat,
“To be an honest worker.” He pulls the trigger.
A silence once more. The slow creaking of the ceiling fan. Or is that the mattress? Sweat drenched Mordecai, the blanket was askew—another dream. Another nightmare, more specifically, why was it that one? What depravity was this, which haunted him, dream he’d been having every other night—no precursors—just happenstance.
Then it hit him: the smell. Flapjacks. A usual. Tradition! And coffee? More tradition!
His blurred vision became apparent, especially after rubbing one’s eyes, a yawn, the stuttered breath: the morning routine as it were.
A scratch of the chest, more specifically the white tank top, which now was drenched.
His glasses lay on the side table. He put them on.
In clarity, he saw him: his dear, adorned in a flour covered apron.
Roarke.
Rocky, the living personification of poetics. The vagrant Grecian urn turned prohibitionite—a rumrunner. The magnitude of his chaotic personality was tenfold during every mission he dealt out from Miss M. It diminished on the daily, he hid it well, yet it would slip within the cracks of this aged vase.
Mordecai was no older, then again, that’s just something he’d say to himself to disregard the obvious physical evidence of time passing on. The grey hairs started to pop a few months ago. The lines on his face became more apparent from years of stress and need for perfect symmetry, be it order in Marigold, his constant studying, the years of hiding, the possible acts of vagrancy through moments of rumrunning and murder. This in particular came with the toll of two options of response, of trauma in aftershocks or of bleak stoicism with hints of nihilistic performance.
Yet, when he saw Rocky in his dainty outfits, in such a gaily almost dandy ways of self-performance—it brought a warmth to his shivering heart.
He got out of bed, yawning once more, and stumbled toward the bathroom to freshen up.
This. This is what made Mordecai. What is Mordecai? Mordecai is an intellectual witty man, aged by moments in time, experienced, and one who does not follow by ego. He follows by heart and for the need for order—and in some moments—a desire for sustaining himself.
After washing up, he walked to the kitchen. Rocky wiggled his hips slowly, singing ‘Blue Skies’ as he sauntered over to Mordecai.
“My blue skyyy…smilin at meee…” Rocky held a hand out. Mordecai chuckled and held his hand while making sure not to get covered in flour, swirling Rocky who was laughing before he continued singing. He slowly stopped as Mordecai gave him a peck on the lips. “Thank you for not waking me…and for making breakfast.”
“You were rather tired last night. Too much celebration!”
“Yes—no? Well we did have a big score—oh god did I drink?”
“Yes. You get really rambunctious when you’re drunk.”
Rocky laughed. Mordecai went over to his drawers and started pulling out clothes for today. Rocky tried to pull him into a barrage of kisses, but Mordecai gave in, a small smirk on his face as his need to truly get properly ready being delayed by affection. Not that he didn’t mind it.
“I must get ready. You knowww—haha—you know I how I am, you silly romantic affectionate boy!”
Rocky continued for a moment before stopping. He truly loved the man. They might’ve seemed like opposites, especially at first, but attraction knows no boundaries especially regarding one’s differences. Sometimes those things bring people closer—in the right circumstance.
He soon was dressed in a white undershirt, dark grey pleats, leather brown suspenders hooked to the buttons of his pants, black oxfords, and for when he would actually leave his home a black overcoat with a red tie.
Mordecai sat down and began eating.
Rocky ate with some speed, though Mordecai would give him a look, as if to tell him to slow down.
Rocky started to speak. “Well besides work…maybe we could go out for some fun?”
Mordecai sipped his coffee. “Like what?”
“A movie?”
“How about a play?”
“Play could work.”
“Hamlet?”
“Faust?”
“We can just see what’s performed today. Our guesses will do no good.”
Both of them, starting with Rocky, began snickering. The morning was just beginning, the day ahead was free for the taking, and their plans would have to come with due time. Time, which the both of them have to share in earnest collaboration, not that either would mind otherwise.

Overture and beginners - chapter 2
< Chapter 1
Words: 2212
Content: There’s casual drinking and smoking in this chapter, and some smooching
-----------------------------
For such a casual arrangement, Katie found that a quite unreasonable level of anticipation crept up on her over the intervening week. She flaked on another date with Gary and then, after ten minutes of introspection, called him back to end things altogether. With the vision, however uncertain, of a particular sweet shy smile perpetually hovering in front of her, Gary had just… faded into the background. Oh he was nice enough, and she’d liked that he had a respectable, clean job - chilled goods manager at the new supermarket - and a car, but it turned out, not much else. He wasn’t the most exciting bloke in the world, and the only thing he seemed to be really passionate about was Sheffield United. She let him down gently, blaming their incompatible work schedules rather than the fact that he was boring, and he accepted it with predictable stoicism.
-----------------------------
Steve’s head had swivelled like an owl every time the door swung open and finally, at twenty past six, he was rewarded with the sight of Katie walking into the pub and looking around searchingly. He jumped up, almost knocking the bar stool over, and then, checking himself, strolled oh so casually over to where she was standing.
“You came! I mean, hi.”
“Well, sure. I hear this is where all the cool kids hang out on a Friday night,” she quipped.
“Oh definitely,” agreed Steve, eying the motley collection of steel workers and engineers, some still wearing their overalls, that made up the majority of the patrons. “Have you just got off work?”
“Err, yeah, busy day,” (in fact she had put the cover on her typewriter nearly an hour ago and had spent the intervening time in the ladies’ loo refreshing her makeup, fussing with her hair, and trying to get the ink stain off the cuff of her blouse).
“Can I get you a drink?”
“That would be lovely.”
While Steve went to the bar, Katie scoped out a small table in a corner made less gloomy than most of the pub by the last of the evening light coming in through a frosted window. When Steve sat down with a vodka and orange for Katie and a pint of beer for himself there was a brief awkward silence when it dawned on both of them that this was now undeniably a date.
“So, you’re not with your mates today then?”
“Oh they’re around here somewhere. Last I saw they were in the back bar reenacting William Tell and the apple but with darts and a pickled egg! I couldn’t watch.”
He mimed an unfortunate apprentice turning cross-eyed as a poorly-aimed dart approached his forehead and Katie’s laughter, and Steve’s bashful delight at having made her laugh, seemed to break the ice. After that, starting with their common ground of Wisewood Comprehensive, they shared reminiscences about Mr Taylor’s wig, the time 3B set fire to the chemistry lab, and whether the boiler room was actually haunted, before moving on to families, with Steve telling stories of escapades with his two younger brothers, and then grumbling about their shared workplace, each striving to top the other’s tales of dimwitted colleagues and virtually inedible canteen food. Steve’s shyness evaporated once he got engrossed in the conversation, and he was funny, and observant, with a talent for mimicking voices and mannerisms. Katie tried, however pretty his eyes were, not to stare at his face the whole time, and instead found herself studying his hands - black staining like all the men in the manufacturing departments, from oil and metal dust worked so deep into the skin that you couldn’t wash it off however hard you scrubbed, and long slender fingers that were always moving - pushing his overgrown fringe out of his eyes, fiddling with a cigarette, tapping on the table, tearing the corners off beermats. Three drinks and several packets of peanuts later and they were on to more personal topics - childhood dreams, hopes for the future, and, of course, music, at which point Steve’s twitchy fingers took flight, subconsciously miming chords and riffs as he talked about his favourite players. They were in the middle of discovering a shared love of David Bowie when a group of blokes from the factory walked past on their way to the pool table, and one of them did a double-take.
“Aye aye, Dreamer’s found a girl!”
“Is this your sister, Steve-o?”
“Bet it’s his cousin - they’re like that in Hillsborough.”
Charlie, bringing up the rear, gave a couple of the young men a good-natured shove, “Come on lads, this might be the only time he’s ever spoken to a woman, don’t ruin it for him.” Still snickering and with some crude hand gestures, the group continued on their way.
Clutching his forehead and turning pink with embarrassment, Steve apologised, “I am so sorry. I work with a bunch of hooligans.”
“Don’t worry, I’ve been at GEC long enough to know what they’re like. The office girls call your bit of the factory the monkey cage!”
He grimaced. "Sounds about right."
“Why do they call you Dreamer?”
“Because I’m always sleeping when I’m meant to be working.” He stubbed out his cigarette in the ashtray. “And because I want to be a musician and they think that’s a pipe dream.”
“Well that’s very unsupportive of them.”
“Yeah. They’re probably right though,” he mused gloomily.
“No,” she insisted, suddenly fierce, “how dare they try to squash your dreams!” Impulsively she reached over and squeezed his hand. “You’ve got all the time in the world to get there. And you’re already doing it, playing in a band and all.”
Steve’s head was lowered and she followed his gaze to where it rested on their joined hands. Self-consciously she released her grip and moved her hand, not snatching it back but trailing her fingertips across the landscape of tendons and veins.
“So, what would you like to do now? Another drink, or…?”
Mustering every ounce of courage he possessed, Steve stretched across the table and very lightly touched his fingers to her cheek. “I would like…” She heard him take a quick breath. “To kiss you. But I don’t want to do it with all that lot watching us.”
“Well, I would appreciate a kind gentleman who would walk me to my bus stop.”
“I am at your service, m’lady.”
Conveniently, it turned out that they lived close enough to one another that Steve could catch the same bus as Katie and only have to walk a couple of extra streets. After establishing this plan, the previously easy conversation dried up, stifled by the anticipation hovering in a cloud above their heads. As they walked, their hands occasionally brushed against each other, and they both pretended not to notice. As they rounded the corner and came in sight of the row of bus stops, they saw that there were quite a number of people already waiting there.
“Oh goody,” muttered Steve under his breath, “another audience.” Looking around quickly, he spotted open gates leading to the yard in front of some factory or warehouse and stepped sideways into the shadowy gateway, inclining his head in an invitation for Katie to follow him. Though not in the habit of following strange men into dark corners, this one somehow seemed irresistible.
“Sorry, not the most glamorous of locations,” he said with an anxious smile.
“At least it's private, and doesn't smell bad."
“So…” He looked at her a little sideways, fidgeting his feet. He could feel his heart beating fast and his palms were sweaty.
“So… I think you said you wanted to do something?” she teased, looking up at him with doe eyes.
Steve stepped closer and reached out a hand, hovering it uncertainly before deciding that her shoulder was a safe place to land it. Katie put her hand on his other arm and tilted her face up expectantly. He leaned down and bestowed a soft, chaste kiss at the corner of her mouth and then waited for a moment, in case she was going to yell ‘bleugh’ and run away - okay that had only happened once, when he was nine, but it had stayed in his mind as a possible outcome ever since. Happily, there was no cry of revulsion, so he lightly brushed his lips across hers before pressing them together. She responded eagerly, and he felt inspired to elaborate, alternating delicate pecks with firmer pressure with pulling her lower lip into the slightest pout to graze the soft inner edge. His kisses were like questions, to her, to himself - do you like that, can I do this, does that feel good? Each move tentative at first and then more ardent as the response was a clear yes! Eventually they reached some kind of natural conclusion, separating with a final clinging pop and little puffs of hot breath.
“Wow…” She blinked, temporarily unable to find any more words.
“Really? I’ve never had a ‘wow’ before.”
“Maybe we should check it wasn’t a fluke?”
The first kiss had brought them closer together and this time Steve dared to put his hands on Katie’s waist. She lifted up on her toes and looped her arms around his neck. This kiss was bolder; Steve’s tongue traced the inner edges of her lips and she parted them and moved her own to meet it with exploratory touches. His hands gripped tighter on her hips, and hers tangled in his hair.
The increasingly-passionate moment was rudely interrupted when a group of lads passing in the street spotted the canoodling couple and whistled and hooted (honestly, was there nowhere you could go in this city that wasn’t infested with packs of feral boys). Steve, without breaking the embrace, held up his middle finger in their direction. Not really looking where they were going, he started to steer them, Katie shuffling backwards, into the deeper shadows. After a few steps, she bumped into a wall and broke the kiss with a little ‘oof’ of surprise.
“Sorry, I…” Steve started to apologise.
“No, this is good.” She trailed her hands down the front of his jacket and anchored them around his waist, tugging him closer as their lips met again.
Pressed into each other, and back against the wall, Steve’s knee slipped between hers, bringing their whole bodies into contact. Katie dropped her hands to his bum, and he let out a half-moan, half-sigh that she felt as much as heard. That sound cemented the transformation that had been happening in her head since the previous Friday, turning the dorky kid from the music room into a handsome prince grown man, with warm lips and strong hands and… let’s be honest, a really nice arse. She felt him slip a hand between her blouse and her jacket, up her back and then round to the side, as if he was following the bra band underneath like a map. Hesitantly, he moved his hand to cup the curve of her breast and his thumb brushed over her nipple. Even through two layers of fabric the touch was enough to make her gasp, and Steve reacted by repeating the action deliberately. Eager for skin contact, Katie wriggled her hand under the hem of Steve’s t-shirt, touching her fingers to the curve of his back. But her hands were cold, and her realisation of it, and his involuntary shiver, broke the spell and they both pulled away from the kiss with simultaneous ‘sorry’-s.
Steve dropped his hand back to Katie’s waist and took a half-step back, forcing himself to create distance between their bodies. He blew out a long breath. “So… that was…”
“That was…” She was still gazing at him with starry eyes.
“I don’t usually…”
“I don’t either…”
“Sorry, too fast…”
“No… maybe…”
He cleared his throat and tried very hard to form a complete sentence. “If I asked you… would you go on a proper date with me? One that’s not groping in doorways?”
“Of course I would.” She smiled, “Though I wouldn’t be too upset if there was a little bit of groping in doorways!”
“Deal!”
As they were leaving the yard, they almost bumped into a group of older men also, by the jovial laughter and slightly wobbly gait of some of the party, on their way home from a night in the pub. One of the men stopped after a few steps, turned back and scowled at the couple.
“Uh oh, it’s Mr Rafferty, the foreman. Don’t know why he’s got that face on him though, for once I haven’t done anything wrong!”
“Um, it might be because you’re holding his daughter’s hand.”
He dropped her hand like it was molten metal, muttering ‘bloody hell’ under his breath before pasting on an ingratiating smile.
“G-good evening M-mr Rafferty, I was just, err, seeing your Katherine home safe,” he stammered. “But, err, now you’re here, I’ll just say goodnight.”
He bobbed his head in a kind of awkward bow before scuttling off down the street as fast as his guilty feet would carry him. Katie tore her eyes away from his retreating figure and looked up at her father’s still frowning face. She wondered if she had lipstick smeared on her chin.
‘Home’ was all he said.

[REPOST] Book Review #2 - The Little Book of Philosophy
Tumblr media
࿔*:・📖˙ᵕ˙
Many of us may have heard of the word “stoicism” or of someone named “Plato”. However, not everyone is clear why suffering helps a human live a purposeful life or how rationalism formed Socratic thinking. For those who want to find the answers to the questions and take a further step into the philosophy world, though, this miniature book could be a perfect it. With over 200 pages of summaries, the reader is guided through the history of this field in a simple manner that allows them to absorb concepts easily yet accurately. Entries cover biographies, concepts and much more — making the learning experience one that shows how exactly various ideas have evolved and the factors affecting their development. From start till end, the writer continuously shows an encouraging attitude towards everyone learning about philosophy, whether professionally or leisurely.
The chronological order of the field’s history made for a smooth read, especially since it showed how the evolution of mankind had a profound impact on various schools of thoughts. There was a diverse range of philosophical perspectives included, which gave place for some cultural learning too. There were many definitions given to help readers grasp the ideas properly. The humor included made difficult information more engaging to digest and made the experience more lighthearted. Certain concepts or philosophers were introduced too briefly, but given the nature of this book, it is understandable and did not seem too big of an issue considering that there were many resources listed at the end for the audience to further their learning. I really enjoyed the chapters about female philosophers (who happened to be an extreme minority in the field until the last few centuries).
I would recommend this book to those who are beginners in philosophy — it really is a great start that will not only show you the importance of its findings, but how it affects you too. Those interested in history or general knowledge are also welcome. While I could complete this book in a single read, I believe that it could also be effective as a reference book read from time to time when you are in search of a particular concept or just want to read it on the go for a few minutes. This book is also a great idea if you want some inspiration for your self-improvement journey as it focuses heavily on what it means to live a fulfilling life. Enjoy reading this book :)
Rating: 3.5/5
Edition: Paperback, Summersdale, 2019
Target audience: Anybody interested in a general summary of the evolution of philosophy
Let me know this book interests you in the comments below!
Signing off till next time~

I hate tags
I hate tags but I love them at the same time since they are convinient when you want to generate a quick stereotypical but like 65% accurate image of yourself to others that doesn't know you. So it saves the process of making long self-introduction and socializing.
So here's mine:
she/her/bisexual/infp/Chinese/5w4/SLUEI/centrist/existentialist/anxietydisorder/tulpamancer/spirituality/tarot/Aquarius/Hufflepuff/parasocialism/polyglot/content creator/animator/illustrator/writer/Jazz music/film noir/typology
My favorite writers:
Raymond Chandler/Etgar Keret/Nicolas Giácobone/Albert Camus/Lawrence Block
My favorite comedians:
Louis CK/Bo Burnham/Daniel Sloss
My favorite youtubers:
Jschlatt/Caroline Konstnar/jreg
My favorite cartoon characters:
Scrooge McDuck/Eric Cartman/Ishimaru Kiyotaka/Rose Quartz/Jillian Russell
My favorite video games:
The Stanley Parable/Minecraft/The Beginner's Guide
My favorite philosphies(I don't necessarily support them):
Existentialism/Stoicism/Machiavellianism/Relativism/Social Darwinism
My favorite psychologies:
Individual Psychology/Positive Psychology/Evolutionary Psychology
I hope you don't find it too quirky or something so you might think "is she trying to look edgy or is she trying to make an ironic joke about being edgy so is it just purely idiocy or deconstructivism??"
But I think it might help you to get a brief idea (of a brief false idea) of who I am or what I am composed of.
Also all those people or works I wrote here are all really good and they make good stuffs.

Any philosophy books for beginners?
That’s a hard question and I’ll do my best to answer it (sorry it took a couple days).
If you want just a quick answer, I think starting with the Penguin Great Ideas series would put you on a good path. I like this particular series a lot because they're not critically focused, so their goal is to give you the source text rather than an explanation of it (they're super short for this reason.) They offer titles such as What Is Existentialism? (existentialism), The Meditations (stoicism), and The Prince (political philosophy) among others.
The longer answer is that I would recommend figuring out what you're interested in rather than just looking for general beginner texts. You can find introductions to metaphysics or logic or whatever it is that you may enjoy best that are more focused. Personally, I loathe reading political philosophy, but I <3 epistemology big time, even though they both fall under the wide umbrella of philosophy.
I'd also recommend connecting philosophy to something you already have a knowledge base in, such as philosophy of literature or aesthetics, etc. I love reading about aesthetics since I've spent a lot of time learning about art in my life. You can also find lots of resources for certain traditions based on regions of the world or religions, too. Wikipedia's Outline of Philosophy will offer you the most efficient way of connecting you to resources based on your interests.
Wikipedia is actually a pretty great resource if you use the footnotes feature to connect back to source material, and you can find books easily that way. Bibliographies in those texts can also point you to good books. For example, if you go to the Ethiopian philosophy Wikipedia page and click on the first source, that paper connects you to an entire volume series with Ethiopian philosophy as well as some philosophers from that country.
I hope this was helpful!

Character Development Questions: Hard Mode
@ncvusaquila ASKED: Does your character have siblings or family members in their age group? Which one are they closest with?
Yes! She has a gaggle of children that she looks after. She is a quintessential mother figure to the children of the jolly roger ( and some rogue kids from the docks), which is not saying much as she really doesn't know what she's doing.
The closest of these to her are her two half siblings: Harry and Calista Jane "CJ".
Harriet's relationship with CJ:
This is Harriet's baby. Not literally, but she did raise her from an infant as CJ was quite literally placed in her arms when Harriet was seven. Harriet dotes on her, but also is pretty brutal towards her. Harriet's perception of the Isle and the world around her is based off of the men around her as she has little access to meaningful relationships with other women. Harriet is hard on CJ simply because she doesn't want her sister to be hurt in any fashion. She has stepped in on multiple occasions and even hidden her sister to avoid as much pain for her as she can. It doesn't matter how old CJ gets, she's still 'Little 'Lista" to Harriet. CJ is also one of the only people who can be in Harriet's personal space without getting hit or without causing Harriet increased anxiety. Often times Harriet will fix CJ's hair, tying it back so no one can grab onto it or make sure she's eaten. I do think that Harriet's babying and hyper-protection of CJ has fed into CJ's loud and confident personality. Harriet made sure CJ was untouchable and has suffered greatly for it, but at the same time instilled a confidence and pride in her little sister. There is a potential for CJ to be embarrassed of Harriet's 'failure to thrive' stoicism and melancholy as Harriet is very old world and beaten down by her upbringing. This isn't to say that Harriet hasn't the capability to put the fear of god into her sister. She has on multiple occasions and even shot at CJ once with a rifle intentionally in the back of her shoulder. She sent Harry to fetch her back to the ship. They still have an active and friendly relationship into CJ's adulthood.
Harriet's relationship with Harry:
While not the first child in Harriet's care, outside of CJ, Harry has been with Harriet the longest. She may not remember her own mother, but she does remember Harry's. She has some very distinct opinions on that woman, but has yet to talk about her to Harry and wouldn't breach the topic unless he asked. Harry didn't get as much attention from Harriet as the other children did and it certainly shows. Their relationship begins to develop better when Harry turned six/seven and was being beaten by another member of the crew, with Harriet stepping up and taking the beating for him simply by getting involved. Much of their relationship from then on is Harriet forcibly removing Harry from dangerous situations, often getting hurt or assaulted in the process. Much of her time spent with Harry is spent stitching him back together or holding onto the back of his neck to keep him out of trouble. She does bolster his interests and 'healthier' outlets, her favorite is being the first person he tattooed. She has bird wings with the stick and poke method on her pointer finger and thumb. the tattoo is unfinished simply because of his beginner skill, but Harriet can still make the bird fly by opening and closing her finger and thumb. Their relationship is exceedingly close yet extensively strained. As harry gets older, Harriet does use him as more of a feral dog to sic on those she feels threatened by. Often times she doesn't even have to tell him. She's also always there to listen to him, and aboard the Jolly Roger has the upper hand in the power dynamic between them. The problem is that Harry grows up. He gets smart and does what Harriet can and could never do: he leaves. He joins Uma's crew and his loyalties are obviously shifted. The other thing Harriet notices now that he doesn't live on the Jolly Roger is how much like Hook he is. She's seen what Harry is capable of and feels very responsible for his anger and cruelty. He's a mirror of their father she's very scared of him because of this. They've both grown up in a very toxic and masculine environment. Of the two of them, Harriet is at a greater risk of coming to harm without him there for her. Under the right circumstances she's afraid he would hurt her. The power dynamic between them has shifted. If he came home to her and asked for her help or for whatever peace she used to give when they were kids she would provide for him, but the reality is that he's simply 'sir' like every other man in her life. The probability of a quiet familial moment for him to just be Harry again is very unlikely.

Point out: Assuredly, I would address this more or much less announcement with studied journalistic stoicism, however this new product from Elegoo is solely too great relaxing for me to make that.At the present time, Nov. 4, 2023, Elegoo, maker of vivid, albeit basically moderately tame, 3D printers, is launching a Kickstarter for a printer that is, frankly, substandard. Dubbed the OrangeStorm Giga (the supreme Kaiju name ever), or not it is a printer with a produce space of 800 by 800 by 1,000mm or 2.6 by 2.6 by 3.2 ft. Though Elegoo has acknowledged it'd be aimed in opposition to the commercial market, there are many reasons for little companies and even hobbyists to bounce on this if they'll.The sheer dimension of the Giga is interesting. With an 800mm square plate, it is likely you'll additionally print a fleshy-dimension chest piece for an Iron Man outfit in a single lag, or kind prototypes for any quantity of projects. With a 1-meter monumental produce build, it is likely you'll kind monumental vases for your private home or fleshy-dimension busts and art work for your walls. ElegooIt's likely you'll well maybe also additionally add more print heads, to a max of four total, that might perchance well additionally be used to print more than one items on the same time in moderately a few colors, making it a astronomical way to mass-kind items for your little industry. These print heads can for the time being be used entirely to clone items, not kind more than one coloration prints, and the usual mannequin comes with entirely one head for now. The Giga has a max print saunter of 300mm/s, though Elegoo recommends 150mm/s, which is heaps snappily ample when printing objects as astronomical as this can even conceivably print. While you bear been the usage of the multihead model, you are going to be printing four items at 150mm/s, increasing your output by 400%This Kaiju 3D printer also has a segmented heated bed -- parts of it will heat to moderately a few temperatures independently -- so it will set you money and vitality by heating entirely the portion you want. Whereas you are printing smaller parts, it is likely you'll print on one quadrant, and entirely that quadrant will heat. The OrangeStorm Giga is today accessible to serve thru Kickstarter as of Nov. 4, 2023, and though the retail designate will likely be quite quite a bit of thousand greenbacks, the earliest of early bird prices is $1,250, bringing it into the vary of a little-industry owner and even a hobbyist with money to spare. Be aware, though, it is a Kickstarter, so or not it is not a favorable thing.I love it when companies lag out of their comfort zones and swing for the fences. Elegoo makes strong, real, funds 3D printers that work properly and are astronomical for beginners. Now, though, it also makes Kaiju. I love it, and I will likely be following alongside with curiosity.

Alice gave a small smile when Murphy mentioned her work sounding scary. To be honest, it could certainly get a little unruly at times. At the very least, her work made her a much more paranoid person, given that her job entailed reporting on some of the most violent crimes that took place in Anchorage. Then again, she hadn't really faced too many threats herself. "Eh, it's not too, too scary, though it can be very unnerving." When the artist inquired about Alice's personal work, she gave a small shrug and said "Um, I enjoy journaling but I also like to write short stories from time to time, just kind of about whatever ideas pop into my brain." She had many a Google Doc dedicated to her writing, all backed up on the Cloud just to be sure she wouldn't lose it. One day, she was hoping to write a book but who knew if that would actually happen or not. She didn't feel as if she had time in her life right now to actually sit down and write a manuscript. Things were far too chaotic, with being a mother and all.
Think you can escort me to the bleachers? Alice smiled at the question, only too happy to oblige. The journalist appreciated the feeling that Murphy gave her--she made Alice feel light and bubbly, a little more like she used to feel before a veneer of cynicism had overtaken her the past few years, the optimist still present underneath the layers of stoicism that she'd placed there for protective purposes. "Of course," she said, taking Murphy's hand and steadying her as they skated to the edge of the rink. Once the two found their way to the bench, the brunette sat down and looked over at their new acquaintance. "Well, congratulations--you've officially skated now," she smiled, her words genuine. "And I think for a beginner, you did pretty great." She was glad that the artist had tried something new and that she'd been able to share that with her.
Tumblr media
While wholeheartedly devoted to the pursuit of art, Murphy could reserve respect for the kind that didn't involve graphite and charcoal. She certainly wasn't adept at any of it; she lacked the grace that dance beckoned out of a person, she was god awful at composing words, and it appeared that she didn't have the balance nor dexterity required for ice-skating. Alice did say that falls were common, yet still, the young artiste could gather that she herself would likely not improve much. "Whoa," she said, a gut response whenever she heard the word crime. "That sounds cool, just—kind of scary, if I'm honest. What kind of stuff do you write for you?" Earnestly invested, kind brown eyes shimmered as they looked upon Alice with a shining interest. It was a strange feeling, as typically she wasn't so inclined to dissect someone else's brain, particularly someone she hadn't met before. Somehow, though, it'd felt as natural as breathing.
Heart leaping from the sinewy confines of her chest and into the flesh of her throat, Murphy nodded along with perhaps too much enthusiasm whenever Alice inquired about sitting together. "I don't mind at all," she said quickly, side-eyeing the edge of the rink before she offered the other a lopsided smile. "Think you can escort me to the bleachers? I think I may fall and break something before I can make it on my own." Almost involuntarily, laughter bubbled from behind her teeth as she tried to swallow as many gulps of anxiety as she could before it became too evident that she was encountering a bout of gay panic.
