In February 1965, Ruth Ansel, the trailblazing art director with a visionary touch-steering Harper's Bazaar in the '60s, The New York Times Magazine in the '70s, and redefining both Vogue and Vanity Fair in the '80s (and notably the first woman to hold these positions) - made a move that would shake up the fashion world: Steve McQueen became the first man to ever appear on the cover of a women's fashion magazine💐💐💐

As if that weren't groundbreaking enough, the shoot was helmed by none other than Richard Avedon, with McQueen sharing the frame with the remarkable Jean Shrimpton. Just 22 at the time, Shrimpton had already carved out her place in the limelight, thanks to her work with photographer David Bailey. In stark contrast to the refined, aristocratic models of the '50s, she embodied the unpolished, elfin charm of the youthquake movement that defined 1960s Swinging London🪴

Her long legs and lean frame defied the era's love of voluptuous silhouettes, earning her the nickname "The Shrimp"—a moniker that still holds weight as she remains one of the first true supermodels🍁

In a twist only fate could script with such biting irony, today— November 7th-marks both Jean Shrimpton's 82nd birthday (celebrated in the quiet, almost reclusive life she chose when she left fashion for good in her early 30s) and the anniversary of Steve McQueen's passing, who left this world far too soon in 1980 at just 50🥀

Cruz Ramirez: Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys (Cruz is an absolute powerhouse of a singer. Like McQueen she has this rockstar growl that just bleeds into her singing, paired with her lovely rasp)

Mater: Hey There Delilah by Plain White T’s (dedicates this to Holley despite not having been in contact for a while now. She sees the performance on tv one day after a long mission, and feels a strange twinge in her heart)

Bobby Swift: Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars (Bobby can put on a show. the whole crowd gets into it. He def gets a 4-chair turn)

Cal Weathers: Take on Me by A-ha (he’s just smiling the whole time, infecting the crowd with his joy)

Ramone: Livin on a Prayer by Bon Jovi (he and Flo have been at each other’s side through thick and thin. Prayer and love filled their days and nights, and they’ll always hold onto that)

tw: the mildest of reckless driving. psa don't show off with some speedy driving as a flirtation tactic (nothing bad happens, trust me). idk, I just think Steve would be like this with his car on a date.

Steve focuses on the road ahead and gently pushes further down on the gas. He taps his fingers on the steering wheel while placing his other hand directly on the window rolled all the way down.

The late afternoon spring air is warm on the back of his hand as he travels along the one road out of Hawkins.

He contemplates turning the radio up or fiddling with the dial, but it's either Madonna currently playing on the radio or whatever rural station he can tune in, preaching god knows what. It's not like a mixtape is an option either, considering Eddie is sitting right next to him.

He really doesn't want to spend the car ride on their way to their first date arguing about each other's music tastes.

Instead, he looks in his rearview mirror to find no cars in sight. He speeds up more still, setting a nice pace that feels like he is gliding as his baby purrs around him.

Because he needs to focus on something.

Anything to stop him from practically shooting out of his car seat and straight up through the damn roof with anticipation as Eddie – his date, Eddie – sits quietly beside him, appearing far too relaxed.

So, driving along like a movie star trying his luck at Le Mans it is then...

He flexes his hands on the steering wheel as he licks his lips, readying himself to get up some real speed in his pride and joy –

"Easy there, Steve McQueen," Eddie says, as he reaches his hand over to pat a lot closer to the inside seam of his jean leg than anywhere else.

Steve jerks the steering wheel and slams on the brake as he veers into the middle of the road. He and his passenger jolt forward and then back again into their car seats, the poor things squeaking from the sudden movement.

"Sorry," he splutters, white-knuckling the steering wheel.

"Stevie, get off the road," Eddie chuckles, reaching over again.

But thankfully, as Steve braces himself, Eddie is placing a controlling hand on the wheel. He bats him away and lifts his foot off the break as he catches his breath.

The clearing stops a ways ahead, giving way to another dense swath of trees on both sides of the road. There's a small dirt patch not too far in. A popular make-out spot he has used on more than one occasion.

He gets them there in one piece, pointedly ignoring Eddie's snickering as he helps himself to rifling through the glovebox to occupy himself.

In one swift move, Steve places the car in park on the dirt patch, kills the ignition and unclips his seatbelt – all so he can launch himself over the centre console.

It's more awkward than he'd expected (his dang sneaker catches on his seat) as he more stumbles into Eddie's lap than carefully straddles him.

"Steve," Eddie warns, manoeuvring around his legs, "I thought we were seeing a movie first," he wiggles his eyebrows suggestively and gives his hips a tight squeeze.

"You like Steve McQueen?" Steve rejoices, looping his hands around Eddie's neck.

"Please don't force me to sit through The Great Escape," he whines, dry-sobbing at the car ceiling, "Wayne watches it every time it's on TV! And that other one with the... the... uh..." he gestures at his black shirt, "That boring one where he has the butterfly chest tattoo?"

"Papillon?" Steve guesses, already insulted and feeling a lot less enthusiastic.

Eddie clicks his fingers, "Yeah, that one."

Steve rolls his eyes, forever frustrated (and confused) by Eddie's movie tastes. Somehow the guy only likes new nerdy stuff, bloody horror of any kind and those weird old black-and-white films Robin loves too.

"But..." Eddie continues, biting the 't' and jolting Steve straight out of a need to bicker about film preferences, "He does have that pretty spot on his face."

Eddie's doe eyes fill with mischievous glee as he lifts his index finger and presses against the duo of moles on Steve's left cheek just off his nose, "Boop."

As a rush of heat travels right across Steve's cheek and melts into his ears to fry his goddamn brain, he reaches down to pull the lever on their seat to send them back as horizontal as the thing will go.

I just wanna say hi and also ask if you have pictures of your chickens bc I love chickens

I'm glad to see more chicken lovers out here! I'll have to put the pics under the cut because my current count is 31 chickens and I have waaay too many pictures of them, so I've tried to be somewhat selective.

I actually breed Gold/Blue Partridge Brahmas on the side because where I live the nearest breeder of brahmas in general is about a 2 hour drive inland and there's a fair demand for them since they're much less likely to get taken by hawks due to how MASSIVE they are.

Anyway, floofy babies below!!

This is my sweet girl, Buttercup, a Speckled Sussex. I have near enough every different Sussex colour under the sun lmao. Pale, Silver, Buff, Coronation, and Platinum. They're named Crystal, Salt, Pepper, Ivory, and Gracie respectively.

This is Gracie, the Platinum Sussex I mentioned. She is the LOUDEST girl known to man. She has many opinions and need to make sure they're known!!! Will come and stand outside the back door and shout into the house for attention.

This is Cricket, my Plymouth Rock hen. I named her Cricket because when she was a little newly hatched baby, she would cuddle up in my hand to fall asleep and start trilling/purring. The sound was exactly like the sound of a cricket chirping.

Maisie, my fluffy little Easter Egger girl. She lays bright blue eggs, and her sibling Bean, lays bright green ones.

My head rooster and main breeding male, Sergeant Major. This image doesn't really do him any justice, but he's absolutely massive, both height wise and because of how broad he is. He has balls of steel and fears nothing. Magpies try to swoop him? They're the ones that have to swerve to avoid colliding with him, because he doesn't move for nobody. He's a big baby for his mamma tho, he lets me pick him up and carry him around like a toddler lmao.

A terrible picture, but it gives you a good idea of how large he is, even though he's smaller than Sarge. This is my second in command, Stevie McQueen (named after the actor in The Great Escape, since as a chick he could and would find a way to escape his enclosure). He might be large, but he's smart enough not to mess with Sarge, so he gets along well with the rest of the flock.

Bluey!! The roundest of girls!! She's a little anxious around humans she doesn't know, but she's so, so very gorgeous. Went through a major molt recently, and is looking a bit scrungly, but here she's looking lovely uwu.

Blondie, one of the roosters from my hatch last November, I decided to keep because he's such a sweet, gentle boy. He's a mix of Brahma (from Sarge) and Pale Sussex (Crystal), but because his mum had some sort of gigantism mutation, he has also outgrown both of his parents and is only 7 months old!! Afraid of his own shadow.

This is Smokey, another of the babies from November. Stevie is her dad and Bluey is her mum, so she has fluffy, round genes from them both lmao.

Froggy!!!! My darling baby girllll!!!!! Another of the November babies, one of the purebred brahma hens. She would've been an excellent show bird, but sadly was born with two of her toes on both feet fused together, forcing her to hop around, hence the name Frog. We corrected the issue so she can now walk correctly now, but her feet aren't good enough to be used for showing or breeding, so we're just keeping her as a pet. She thinks she's a human too, and demands entrance into the house for kisses and hugs ever night. She won't go to bed at night without behind held for a good while and told what a good girl she is.

I have a fetish for stomach growling. Especially hunger. I've had it since I was nine. I really like it when a character's stomach growls in a movie, television show, video game, book or any other type of media Even when someone says they're stomach is growling when we don't hear it or when they say they are hungry, it turns me on. I also love to read stomach growling fanfiction and listen to videos of other's stomachs growling. I even make my own videos of my stomach growling (both hunger and digestion!)

“She’s been here for five minutes and she’s already inviting people over?!”

“Oh my god, David,” Alexis snaps, coming down the stairs that lead to his bedroom. “It’s not people, it’s just Stevie.”

“That’s rude,” David shoots back.

“No, she’s right,” Stevie calls with her mouth full.

“What the fuck,” he mutters. “What are you even doing here, Alexis? Is that my sweater?”

Alexis tugs the sleeves of his McQueen down over her hands in a way that it absolutely wasn’t meant for. David grits his teeth.

“Well, I, like, just got back from the shoot and I wanted to see my big brother?”

David narrows his eyes at her. “Yeah, I’m not buying that.” They’ve never been the kind of siblings who do that sort of thing. When Stavros broke up with Alexis the last time just over a year ago, it had taken six months for her to tell David she was actually living in the same city as him, much less that she’d enrolled in classes to get her PR certificate.

It doesn’t take long for her to crack. “Ugh, okay, fine, David,” she says. “Mutt and I broke up and I just didn’t want to go back to my apartment and, like, stare at all those stupid dead plants he gave me like some sort of sad, pathetic loser.”

“He gave you dead plants?” David asks.

“Well, no,” Alexis replies. “They were alive when he gave them to me.”
