Nothing Lasts Forever
Nothing Lasts Forever [trailer]
Documentary about the secretive diamond industry, its market steeped in myth and deception, and whose longevity is threatened by synthetic gems.
It's fascinating to see how the players change their positions over time because they increasingly realise that the diamond myth and their monopoly is threatened. By the end of the doc I was barely able to say what their actual stance on synthetic diamonds is.
Shows that DeBeers is for a good part just a clever marketing organisation. Though being part of a cartel clearly helps.
It's almost painful to watch diamond industry figure Martin Rapaport desperately trying to sell the concept that the value of a relationship/ones wife can only be measured by the size/cost of a "real" diamond.
Jewellery designer Aja Raden is essential to make the doc entertaining. Otherwise it would've felt a bit too long to make its point.

From legendary horror author H.P. Lovecraft...
THE UNNAMABLE Coming to Blu-ray and DVD October 23rd from Unearthed Films
Restored as a beautiful 4k scan and color corrected from the original negative
College students from Miskatonic University who retreat to an early 18th-century mansion for a weekend of lust are stalked by a fatalistic female in this horror film taken from a story by H.P. Lovecraft. The demon delights in tearing the limbs off her human victims to carry out a centuries-old family curse. Bloody graphic violence and nudity is combined with some campy comedy.
The 1st 2,000 units ordered come with a limited edition slip sleeve.
"Limited edition to 2,000 units with a slip sleeve cover for the Blu-ray, and then we go to the normal cover everyone knows from the 80's after 2,000 units have sold. The DVD is the cover everyone has seen and loves. Slip sleeve is purely limited to Blu-ray."

De Beers, Blue Nile Partner With 10 Designers For Engagement Rings Created With Sustainable Diamonds From Botswana
New Post has been published on https://perfectirishgifts.com/de-beers-blue-nile-partner-with-10-designers-for-engagement-rings-created-with-sustainable-diamonds-from-botswana/
De Beers, Blue Nile Partner With 10 Designers For Engagement Rings Created With Sustainable Diamonds From Botswana
The Ten/Ten logo
De Beers Group and Blue Nile unveiled a new project called Ten/Ten that brings together 10 independent jewelry designers who will each design a single engagement ring in a way that re-envisions the iconic symbol of love and commitment for a new generation of couples. Only 10 rings will be created from each design limiting the total collection to 100 rings, which will be sold exclusively on the Blue Nile website beginning sometime in January.
Catherine Sarr of Almasika
The 10 designers participating in Ten/Ten were chosen for their diversity of design and commitment to responsible sourcing, De Beers Group and Blue Nile said in a joint statement. “Each designer brand brings a distinct and nuanced point of view to the reinterpretation of the timeless symbol of love and commitment.”
Aurora Lopez Mejia
The participating designers and their brands are: Almasika by Catherine Sarr, Aurora Lopez Mejia, Bea Bongiasca, Harwell Godfrey by Lauren Harwell Godfrey, Lola Fenhirst, Marla Aaron, Michelle Fantaci, Platt Boutique by Natasha Platt, Pamela Love and WWake by Wing Yau.
Bea Bongiasca
Partnering with this project will allow these designers to connect with a new and larger consumer audience.
Lauren Harwell Godfrey of Harwell Godfrey
The diamonds are supplied by De Beers Group, which the diamond mining giant says are ethically and sustainably sourced from its four mines in Botswana. The mines are jointly owned with the Botswana government. The diamonds will be traceable to the country of origin but not to the individual mine.
Lola Fenhirst
All rings will be priced from $3,000 to $4,500, which is considered the average price of an engagement ring in the U.S., and will feature diamonds weighing less than a carat.
Marla Aaron
“The Ten/Ten concept was conceived to support independent designers, as well as to tell the story of Botswana’s diamonds, a natural resource on which the country’s economy is primarily dependent,” said Stephen Lussier, De Beers Group EVP of Consumer Markets.
Michelle Fantaci
Those interested can go to the Blue Nile website to learn more about the program and participating designers, as well as sign up to receive special advance notice of the exact date the Ten/Ten collection will be available for purchase.
Natasha Platt of Platt Boutique
“The natural diamond engagement ring is iconic, a classic and timeless expression of the deepest commitment between two people,” Lussier says. “With Ten/Ten, we are offering a fresh take on how this symbol is still essentially meaningful for couples today.”
Pamela Love
Sean Kell, CEO of Blue Nile adds, “We’re excited to introduce a new group of consumers to exceptional design from some of the most inspiring and diverse jewelry designers working today. Collections like Ten/Ten offer a reinvented, fresh and relevant take on the traditional diamond engagement ring and prove it’s possible to find handcrafted and exquisite fine jewelry at an incredible value.”

Interview: Tom Atkins (Trick, Halloween III)
Genre icon Tom Atkins spoke with me about his new horror film, Trick, which will be released in select theaters and on Digital this Friday, October 18, via RLJE Films. We also discuss the change in public opinion of Halloween III: Season of the Witch, his role in the scrapped Halloween 3D, and working with filmmakers like John Carpenter, George A. Romero, and Richard Donner.
Can you begin by telling us how you got involved with Trick and what attracted you to the project?
Patrick Lussier [director/co-writer] attracted me to the project, as well as the part. Trick is the third film I've worked on with Patrick. My Bloody Valentine 3D was the first. I played a sheriff who had my face ripped off and died a terrible death at the hands of the miner. The second one was Drive Angry, which we shot down in Shreveport, Louisiana with Nic Cage. I lived through that one!
We had a wonderful time doing Trick. I play Talbott, this town curmudgeon; an angry, old man. I run the town diner and a movie festival at Halloween time. It was going to be a drive-in, but it turned out to be the interior of a church, because weather intervened and made it impossible. I love the character. He adores the kids of the town even though he would never admit that. He certainly doesn't show it, but at the end he's trying to protect them from the evil, chasing the guy with his shotgun in the church.
He's a terrific character, and Patrick said that he and Todd [Farmer, co-writer] would like to have me in everything they do, so I'm looking forward to the next one. He assured me that I will live through the entire film! [laughs]
You've worked with such influential filmmakers as John Carpenter, George Romero, and Richard Donner, to name a few. How does working with Patrick Lussier compare?
You know, my personal favorite film that I made was Night of the Creeps directed by Fred Dekker back in 1986. And Shout Factory just came out with an action figure of [my character] Detective Ray Cameron from Night of the Creeps all these years later. I found that astounding! I love Fred, and I love Patrick. I feel like I'm with my brother when I'm with Patrick or Fred. I think they're both wonderful directors. I think the years that Patrick spent as an editor for Wes Craven certainly helped make him the fine director that he is.
I really enjoyed doing the films with John [Carpenter]; The Fog and Escape from New York, and he produced Halloween III. George Romero, oh, my God. He was a dear, dear friend. I'd known him since the '60s. I miss him. He was a wonderful guy. He was like a big, old bear. He loved to give hugs and talk about what we were doing, how he was going to attack a certain scene or sequence in a film. He was a terrific guy.
Donner I like to think of as an old-fashioned Hollywood director - in the best sense of the word. He would have screenings of the [Lethal Weapon] dailies for the week every Friday. There was always food, champagne, cocktails, beer, wine; whatever your preference. Everybody was welcome.
I got a kick out of him when we were shooting the sequence where Gary Busey shot me from the helicopter through my French door, in my back and out my stomach, in my eggnog and out my eggnog. He was out front on the street talking to the neighbors that had all gathered around. He said, "This is what we're gonna do. We've got this actor in there. We're gonna shoot him from a helicopter over the back cliff. What do you think? Do you think it'll work? Is it a good idea?" And they would say whether they thought it was or wasn't, and he really listened to them as if he might change his mind and do it differently if they came up with a better way! [laughs]
I thought he was a wonderful guy and that he was so open to everything. Like Patrick, he was steeped in the history of it. He was an old-fashioned director, and he had done a lot of films and TV. I thought he did a wonderful job. I'm biased; I like the first Lethal Weapon better than the rest of them, because I was dead and couldn't be in any of the others. [laughs]
Trick isn't your first Halloween-themed horror movie; as you mentioned, you starred in Halloween III: Season of the Witch. How has it been to see the public opinion shift on that movie over the years?
I loved making Halloween III. I really enjoyed it. It was John Carpenter's intention to make an anthology of Halloween movies; to make a different Halloween movie every Halloween. The money guys at the studio said, "Well, you already have this one ready to go, and we'll do it, but you have to put Halloween in the title. It can be subtitled Season of the Witch, but it has to have the franchise, Halloween, up above."
A lot of people were unhappy when it came out. They saw Halloween and thought Michael Myers would be in it. I love, though, the way that the audience has just grown and grown and grown. I have so many people come to me now and say, "Halloween III is my favorite Halloween movie. I just love watching that one!" It's different than the others, and it stands on its own. It's a really good film.
You were also going to be in Lussier's Halloween 3D before it was scrapped. What do you recall about that one?
When we were working on My Bloody Valentine 3D, he sent me a script of his version of Halloween 3, which was a continuation of the Rob Zombie storyline. I was going to play a really demented shrink who was taking care of Laurie [Strode] in a psychiatric hospital. I was their doctor, and I was up to no good. [laughs] I certainly wasn't going to do them any good. In the script, I ended up being killed by ol' Michael Myers.
I guess Drive Angry didn't do well at the box office, and they took it away from Patrick, and nobody did it. Answer me this: why am I not in the new Halloween with Jamie Lee [Curtis]?
They have a lot of the old cast members coming back! I'd love to see you return.
They do! My dear pal, Chuck Cyphers, is going to be in [Halloween Kills]. I think he's going to be the sheriff again. That's what he was in the originals. He's going to be in it, and Nancy Stephens too. We'll see. There's always a chance!

10 Unmade Remakes We Really Want To See | ScreenRant
Despite the dozens of remakes that do get churned out in Hollywood, there are just as many that end up stuck in development hell. Remakes might have a terrible reputation, due to the fact that most of them are pointless and fail to be anywhere near as good as the original, but there is the occasional diamond in the rough. If a director has a unique vision for how to reimagine or recontextualize a story, or an old movie’s effects are updated with modern CGI technology, they can justify their own existence and even be pretty decent movies. So, here are 10 Unmade Remakes We Really Want To See.
RELATED: Disney's Live-Action Remakes, Ranked By Rotten Tomatoes Score
10 The Warriors
Walter Hill’s comic book-y gangland actioner The Warriors wasn’t a huge box office success when it was first released, but it has gone on to become a cult hit. Way back in 2005, it was announced that Tony Scott was interested in developing a remake set in modern-day New York City. The Warriors has a simplistic premise that it would be intriguing to see reimagined for contemporary America. Since Scott’s death, Crank director Mark Neveldine has mentioned his interest in adapting the film for a modern audience. With his zany, over-the-top, balls-to-the-wall style, Neveldine’s take on The Warriors would surely be a lot of fun.
9 Flash Gordon
Producers have been trying to nail down a Flash Gordon remake for years. J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay (currently working on Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series) were hired to write a script, Kick-Ass’ Matthew Vaughn was tapped to direct, Thor’s Mark Protosevich was brought on to retool the script, Overlord’s Julius Avery came aboard – there’s been an endless string of talent. Taika Waititi has signed on to helm an animated remake of Flash Gordon in an attempt to finally crack it. Flash Gordon was a huge influence on Waititi’s bright, colorful, wacky, hysterical MCU entry Thor: Ragnarok. While that movie will undoubtedly be a lot of fun, it won’t be the same in animated form. With today’s CGI effects, it would be great to see worlds like Mongo and Arboria realized in live-action.
8 Hellraiser
Although its reviews ranged from being praised as the greatest British horror movie of all time to Roger Ebert complaining about a “bankruptcy of imagination,” Hellraiser has remained a horror classic. There have been nine sequels, but no remake. Drive Angry’s Patrick Lussier was tapped to direct a remake some time ago and he brought his go-to writer Todd Farmer on board. Their vision seemed promising: “If we do Hellraiser, it’s rated R; if they want to do PG-13, then they have to get rid of us.” However, there’s been no movement on the remake. Maybe the studio did want a PG-13 rating.
7 The Dam Busters
Director Peter Jackson has been planning a remake of the World War II classic The Dam Busters for years now, but he’s never been able to get it off the ground. And this is a guy who was given a record-breaking $207 million to remake King Kong, so Hollywood really doesn’t want his version of The Dam Busters to get made.

Stephen Fry was working on the script for the remake. The last time Jackson came close to shooting it was back in 2009, and he decided to shoot The Hobbit trilogy instead, which no one will thank him for.
6 The Never-Ending Story
The long, embattled development on The Never-Ending Story remake is a never-ending story of its own. The original, directed by Wolfgang Petersen and released in 1984, is a nostalgic fantasy classic. Producers Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Leonardo DiCaprio (of all people) had intended to “examine the more nuanced details of the book” with a potential remake. Unfortunately, for a number of years, they struggled to secure the rights to the source material. Kennedy has since said that she believes, based on her long battle for the film rights to the book, that the remake is “not meant to be.”
5 Escape from New York
John Carpenter’s dystopian action classic Escape from New York is a prime candidate for a remake, and yet no one has managed to get a production together. The original starred Kurt Russell as a criminal badass who was sent into Manhattan Island, which had been turned into a giant maximum-security prison in the film’s hypothetical future, to save the U.S. President’s daughter. Scripts have been written by Insidious’ Leigh Whannell and Luther creator Neil Cross, while Robert Rodriguez has expressed interest in directing, but nothing has gotten off the ground as of yet. Maybe it’s for the best; the original is a gem that should probably remain untouched.
4 Revenge of the Nerds
It would be great to see Revenge of the Nerds get an update in today’s social climate. The original was a beloved comedic gem when it was first released, but its blatant misogyny and flagrant use of sexual assault for humor make it a very uncomfortable watch today. A remake could take what’s great about it and remove what’s terrible about it. We haven’t had a great college comedy in a while, mainly because the world has realized that frat culture isn’t as lighthearted and fun as Animal House made it look. The best college comedies these days, like Neighbors, critique frat culture. Revenge of the Nerds could do just that – it’s about marginalized dorks fighting back against frat guys.
3 The Man with the X-Ray Eyes
Tim Burton once tried to mount a remake of Roger Corman’s classic B-sci-fi horror movie The Man with the X-Ray Eyes. Corman is the indie producer who made his name in the ‘60s with inventively schlocky horror movies and wrote the book How I Made a Hundred Movies in Hollywood and Never Lost a Dime.
RELATED: The 10 Most Memorable Tim Burton Characters, Ranked
Burton worked on the script with writer Bryan Goluboff, who is currently working on the detective series Mr. Mercedes adapted from Stephen King’s crime novels. Unfortunately, the script failed to gain traction in Hollywood and never got off the ground. It’s a shame, because this premise, in Burton’s hands, would be a surreal sight to behold.
2 Barbarella
On the surface, Barbarella would look like a shallow exploitation piece. However, with a script co-written by Terry Southern, the master satirist behind Dr. Strangelove and Easy Rider, it was so much more than that. Starring Jane Fonda as a space-traveling badass in the distant future, Barbarella is ripe for a remake. Robert Rodriguez once planned a remake with Rose McGowan in the lead role and Casino Royale’s writing team Neal Purvis and Robert Wade tackling the script. With that talent attached, it could’ve been a great movie, but that version of the remake has unfortunately fallen through since then.
1 The Crow
It’s a tricky thing, remaking The Crow, because the original was famously Brandon Lee’s final film before his untimely death. It would be like remaking Furious 7. Still, it’s been 25 years since the original and a remake has been in development for some time. In another director’s hands, the premise of a rock star who is brought back to life to avenge his and his fiancée’s deaths could follow a completely different vision. Dozens of actors have been in contention for the lead role over the years – Bradley Cooper, Ryan Gosling, Mark Wahlberg, James McAvoy – and the most recent actor to come and go from the project is Jason Momoa. Hopefully, this will eventually get made.

Mile 81 - Stephen King | Fiction & Literature |451092167
Mile 81 Stephen King Genre: Fiction & Literature Price: $3.99 Publish Date: September 1, 2011 Mile 81 is Stand by Me meets Christine —the story of an insatiable car and a heroic kid. At Mile 81 on the Maine turnpike is a boarded up rest stop, a place where high school kids drink and get into the kind of trouble high school kids have always gotten into. It’s the place where Pete Simmons goes when his older brother, who’s supposed to be looking out for him, heads off to the gravel pit to play “paratroopers over the side.” Pete, armed only with the magnifying glass he got for his tenth birthday, finds a discarded bottle of vodka in the boarded up burger shack and drinks enough to pass out. Not much later, a mud-covered station wagon (which is strange because there hadn’t been any rain in New England for over a week) veers into the Mile 81 rest area, ignoring the sign that says “closed, no services.” The driver’s door opens but nobody gets out. Doug Clayton, an insurance man from Bangor, is driving his Prius to a conference in Portland. On the backseat are his briefcase and suitcase and in the passenger bucket is a King James Bible, what Doug calls “the ultimate insurance manual,” but it isn’t going to save Doug when he decides to be the Good Samaritan and help the guy in the broken down wagon. He pulls up behind it, puts on his four-ways, and then notices that the wagon has no plates. Ten minutes later, Julianne Vernon, pulling a horse trailer, spots the Prius and the wagon, and pulls over. Julianne finds Doug Clayton’s cracked cell phone near the wagon door – and gets too close herself. By the time Pete Simmons wakes up from his vodka nap, there are a half a dozen cars at the Mile 81 rest stop. Two kids – Rachel and Blake Lussier – and one horse named Deedee are the only living left. Unless you maybe count the wagon.
