How do you feel about deaths of major non-villainous characters in stories? like the hero, the love interest, friends etc?
Yes. Good. Kill ‘em. If it serves the story. If it doesn’t serve the story, and it’s just in there for shock-and-awe because You’re Not Like Other Stories, or for emotional-porn-drama for that characters’ lover, then don’t do it.
But I’d say that about any element. If it serves the story, do it. If it doesn’t, don’t do it.
For example; killing off Norman Maine in A Star is Born makes sense, and should be done, even though he’s the lover of the main character. But it should only be done because the point of the story was, “If you want your dreams to come true, take action; but it’ll cost you everything.” Norman Maine was in the way of Esther’s dream; he took himself out of the equation because he saw that she would give up her dream for him. In that way, her dream cost her her husband.
Also, in Sunset Boulevard, killing off the main character makes sense because the point of the story was, “entertaining fantasy instead of facing the hard truth will trap you forever.” The ultimate forever-trap is death: he waited too long and went along with Norma Desmond’s fantasy for his own convenience, because the truth seemed to harsh. So when it finally did come out, she killed him.
Those are two good examples of ‘kill a main character.’
A bad example is Outer Banks killing off JJ. The best character they had. They just killed him for the emotional drama (and probably some production-convenience) of killing him. There was no sensibly-based reason, no character-arc reason, and no story-reason, to kill him. But have him bleed out in his lover’s arms while she screams like we’re on Vampire Diaries, and make his murderer his own second abusive father, because one tragic sad-boy abusive backstory wasn’t enough for this character, we had to have two—and that’ll make the fanbase all steamy. 🙄
Also, killing off Ben Solo in the Sequel Trilogy of Star Wars. Having a character be the foil to the main character, be the yin to her yang-of-loneliness, and then killing him off because you don’t know what else to do with him and you’re lazy, is ridiculous.

Fortunately, Erika didn't ask for another go-around with the Mad Tea Party the way she did Dumbo, instead mostly wanting to go on the more leisurely, more relaxed rides, such as the Storybook Land Canal Boats and the Casey Jr. Circus Train, both of which she alternated sitting with her parents and her grandfathers, and thoroughly enjoyed herself in both instances. It seemed like, slowly but surely, her shyness was being chipped away at, becoming more and more comfortable in August's presence. It was slow progress, of course, but progress nonetheless.
And that progress came to a head when they all disembarked from Peter Pan's Flight: Randall was quite surprised to see a sleeping Erika in her great-grandfather's arms, her little head resting on his shoulder as she slept rather contentedly.
"She just...dozed off!" August was smiling from ear-to-ear, trying to keep his voice down, lest he wake her, but there was no denying the joy in his voice, clearly over the moon to see that Erika felt comfortable enough around him to fall asleep beside him. He was suddenly awash with memories, remembering holding June when she was that young, carrying her into the house in the evening after a long day of playing...
Speaking of his daughter, she was just arriving with the others in tow, Lon similarly crashed out in Callahan's arms, and looking positively cherubic from his place in his granduncle's embrace: He was as energetic as Randall and Emily had predicted, but though he put up a valiant effort, he'd dozed off just as they pulled into the station after finishing their ride on Big Thunder Mountain.
"Oh...what a pair of little angels!" Josephine cooed, as Colin smiled, "Ah, reminds us of how Willy used to fall asleep after a long day on the farm-Cal and I used to take turns carrying him off to bed; he was as rambunctious as Lon here, but boy, once he hit his limit, he dropped like a sack of bricks!"
"This was a perfect night," June smiled, leaning against Wilhelm as the family began their walk back to Gracey Manor together, the adults quietly enthusing over the evening's events, while Lon and Erika continued to blissfully dream on their family's shoulders.

The United States (US) publicly issued strong opposition to the involvement of Chinese Companies in the reclamation of Manila Bay recently supposedly because those Companies were involved in the construction and Militarization of China’s Artificial Islands in the South China Sea (SCS).
Note that the Americans didn’t do anything except complain loudly against those Artificial Islands, so I think there is a deeper reason for them to issue such a strong opposition to it, and it may be because such reclamation could interfere with the Operations of its Embassy along Roxas Boulevard as a MAJOR AMERICAN SPY HUB.
This FACT was revealed by Professor Ronald G. Simbulan during a Lecture back in 2017, and published at the Center for People Empowerment in Governance (CenPEG) Website. Simbulan said that Roxas Boulevard Embassy (RBE) was a Regional Service Center (RSC) or Regional Headquarters (likely for the entire South East Asian Region) of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) since at least the time of the Vietnam War.
Also no less than the infamous Whistleblower Edward Snowden confirmed that the RBE was a Spy Hub and “Listening” Post or an EAVESDROPPING Post where it is used to monitor Communications Networks such as Phone Communications. You can read more about these in the Article itself here: http://cenpeg.org/events/2017/apr2017/THE_CIA_IN_THE_PHILIPPINES_A_BRIEF_HISTORY.html
Based on this, then no wonder that the Americans are doing everything they can to stop the reclamation, and trust the Philippines to entirely give up its Sovereignty to the US by allowing a major American Spy Hub to freely and openly operate on its Land

What does government support for highway removal look like?
Tumblr media
Freeways Without Futures highlights the efforts of local campaign organizers and activists seeking to revitalize their communities by dismantling the city highways that burden them with the significant health hazards of vehicle exhaust, a loss of local businesses and services, and streets that are hostile to pedestrians.
Now, city and state officials are also recognizing the importance of replacing aging highways that damage communities with assets like city streets, housing, and green space. This is further supported by the federal government’s acknowledgement of historic harms with financing through the federal Reconnecting Communities program. While the 2023 report features several highways that are getting support from the federal government, the highways featured in this article have also received government support on a more local level.
