But however. Since we live in the bad timeline, where instead he felt morally obligated to take up the legacy/atone for the sins of (The Jedi /Darth Vader respectively), people he didn't know anything about and frankly didn't owe a god damn thing to... yeah I mean. I would also be hesitant taking a Star Wars film given how things have been the last few years. maybe for a more unknown actor but Mickey is hopefully on a career roll and feels like she doesn't need it. Almost nothing except for andor, early mando has been super well received and the fandom is already negative and has little patience for the franchise. it can also be pretty brutal towards women and minorities and the movie would have to be exceptional and her character likeable by the fandom for her to get any long term benefit besides general publicity.

I wouldn’t hesitate but she just hit it big so I can see why she might want to risk getting typecast, especially if it’s not an idea that appealed to her.

sometimes i just sit and think about anakin and ahsoka and want to burst into tears. i mean, you’re fourteen and thrown into war and you have this teacher and he becomes your brother and father and best friend all at once and you fight and argue and make jokes and patch each other’s wounds and he tries to protect you from the horrors of war but it never really works because how can you save youth in the face of cruelty? but you know he tries more than anything so sometimes you’ll pretend it works, you’ll crack more jokes and make more sarcastic comments to make him laugh and you know he does the same. and one day the unbearable happens and you never see him again except for once, which is more painful than anything. you spend almost every day of your most formative years with this man and he haunts every day you ever live. what the fuck man

while the offer to wipe Mae’s memory came out of left field, her immediate acceptance is completely understandable given her state of mind at the time—not that the show did anything to reinforce that in the moment. previously we saw Mae commit to Osha over her own training. then, when offered the opportunity to take revenge on Sol, she refused in favor of justice—one of the quietest and loveliest redemption arcs in recent memory. seconds later she witnessed the effect of that vengeance on Osha. Mae’s sister has become her cautionary tale, and arguably the motives behind her willingness to be separated from Osha again, even to the point of forgetting her, are manifold. obviously she wants to protect Osha and not be a liability to her, but if that was the only obstacle, she could simply go with Osha and the Stranger temporarily, and they could leave her somewhere else. instead, Mae chose the option that separated her from Osha immediately—in part because she had just seen Osha do the thing Mae never could, and achieve the goal Mae pursued for years. it’s hardly any wonder that she would rather not remember that. perhaps some part of her hopes that if she has a clean slate, when they meet again she will be able to offer Osha a redemptive love without the burden of memory, something which has treated both of them so terribly. the Aniseya sisters have the potential to be a story of nature versus nurture—twice over. perhaps Mae will retain her now well-honed sense of justice, and she will realize swiftly that justice is not something she will find in Vernestra’s company. in this essay I will

How do you think the dynamic would change between your ships if their genders were switched? Ie if Rey was a man and Kylo a woman. Or if Jaime was a woman and Brienne a man. Or if Theon and Robb were both women?

if theon and robb were both women they would have had entirely different issues bc none of them would have been heirs and both of them would have been married to someone else/arranged a marriage with someone else very soon especially robb as firstborn bc if theon was a younger sister to asha be sure balon wouldn’t have cared whatsoever, so like… you’d have an entire different situation where I guess no one would have cared if they actually had a fling because with women it would be harder to notice and I’m sure they’d have been close friends regardless and probably without a lot of the AH HE’S THE HEIR/I’M THE HOSTAGE issues but still if robb was a woman you’d have an entirely different war when ned died so idk it’s a long fic I should think more about that xD

if jaime was a woman and brienne a man: i wrote 36k of fic on the topic so I’ll just link it because it’s less complicated than explaining it xD all knights are gallant and all maids are beautiful (anyway tldr brienne would be a lot more confident bc as a man her issues about looks and self-esteem would be moot and no one would not take her seriously, and jaime would have… a lot… more issues esp if cersei is also genderbent)

reylo…. honestly I don’t think it would change that much because sw is really… not that big on gender roles in that sense, I mean that women do what men do and viceversa all the time so I just think that the discourse would be more on the ‘why do we need a narrative with good guy saves girl from the dark side ™️’ and especially if it ended like tros did but with genders inverted people would say it was the longest fridging of history but tbf I could absolutely see reylo happening in more or less the same way at genders inverted without much changing
