PROVIDENCE PEAK’S 81ST ANNUAL  — HOLIDAY MARKET WEEK AND TREE LIGHTING.
Considered the busiest week of the year, most of Providence Peak’s residents spend the entire year waiting for it. A time when sparkling lights are strung up and down the streets of downtown and shop windows are decorated with all kinds of seasonal displays. The skating rink in the middle of the downtown square has been iced over and open for the season, the tree lighting ceremony just on the horizon, and the Hot Cocoa Stop is making it’s rounds through the neighborhoods. It’s holiday market week in Providence Peak and the city has an entire week filled to the brim with events to celebrate the warmth of the season.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
All Week (December 17th - December 23rd) - All week long, the residents of the city can find the holiday market in it’s usual downtown location, lining the glowing streets leading up to the large tree in the center of the city. The market will feature a variety of vendors (local shops listed on locations will likely have a booth set up at this event) and the large ice skating rink in the center, with Hot Cocoa Stop serving a variety of warm cocoas nearby.
NEW TO THE MARKET: a now-permanent annual holiday market fixture of Holidays Around the World which creates a magnicifant entryway into the streets of the festival and features vendors selling food and drinks that are common parts of holidays that take part int he winter season all around the world!
Sunday (December 17th) - Join Mayor-Once-More Ava Harris in the town square for the annually tree lighting that signals the start (of crunch time) for the holiday season. The event will begin with a speech from the lovely mayor, who will be joined by her family, and will conclude with the ribbon cutting that will begin holiday market week! Monday (December 18th) - Sunrise yoga with... the Grinch? Well, let's at least hope he puts on pants for this festive, once-in-a-lifetime (seriously, once is all you'll need to experience it) event hosted by The Humming Bee. Relax and stretch at your leisure with a soundtrack of hilariously honest comments from the green man himself. While you're taking a break, feel free to snack on themed drinks and small bites offered by Main Squeeze. Be on the lookout for a special, furry appearance from the man's best friend during your session! Tuesday (December 19th) - Treat yourself to a break from the chill of winter with a festive movie at Cinematic. Go with a classic family tale like How the Grinch Stole Christmas or venture into the world of comedy and holiday spirit with Elf. One your way in, be sure to grab one of the theaters many holiday treats including; sugar plum popcorn, peppermint hot chocolate, and holiday sugar cookies that are sure to make even the jolly old man drool. Wednesday (December 20th) - If you find yourself craving more of the chilly season, find your way to Spruce Mountain Ski Lodge and Resort in Bighorn Hills for individual or family fun alike. The lodge will be opening a portion of their hills for free sledding and snowtubing only and, if that's not enough snow for one night, venture down the hill to participate in their Snowman Building Contest, where first prize will gift the winner with a 3-night all-inclusive stay at the resort! Feeling enough of the chill? Visit the large s'mores and hot chocolate station nearby to warm up and satisfy even the best sweet tooth. Thursday (December 21st) -  Painting with FRIENDS is always a good way to sit back and unwind during the holiday season, but when the Holiday Armadillo makes an appearence? You really can't miss this one. Join Refined Palette for a themed painting session in an atmosphere that would rival even that of the infamous Central Perk as you wine and design your very own holiday trifle in a funfilled and festive holiday activity! (Did we mention the unlimited coffee and seasonal... spirits that will be flowing well into the evening?) Friday (December 22nd) - A holiday charity event, hosted by Providence Peak Memorial, that is sure to be like no other. Join the spokesperson of the night, Chief of Surgery Dr. Helen Briggs, in a truly dazzling dining space in Peak Seasons where attendees will be served an elegant four course meal made with locally grown and in-season products and seasonal drink pairings to match. In addition to the cost of the entry ticket, there will be an auction of donated experiences which will go toward the charity represented for the night. Don your best apparel for a date night with someone you adore, join friends as a night out on the town, or come just as you are. Saturday (December 23rd) - Skyline Shopping Center presents it's BIGGEST. SALE. EVER. No, really. It's big. It's humungous. And it's just going to be really difficult to miss! Hop on down to finish your last minute holiday shopping and get your outfits ready to ring in the New Year with up to 70% off of most merchandise in stores! Those who spend over $200 during their shopping trip will be able to redeem a free coffee and meal in the food court.

Mesa Verde National Park (No. 20)
The entrance to Mesa Verde National Park is on U.S. Route 160, approximately 9 miles (14 km) east of the community of Cortez and 7 miles (11 km) west of Mancos, Colorado. The park covers 52,485 acres (21,240 ha) It contains 4,372 documented sites, including more than 600 cliff dwellings. It is the largest archaeological preserve in the US. It protects some of the most important and best-preserved archaeological sites in the country. The park initiated the Archaeological Site Conservation Program in 1995. It analyses data pertaining to how sites are constructed and utilized.
The Mesa Verde Visitor and Research Center is located just off of Highway 160 and is before the park entrance booths. The Visitor and Research Center opened in December 2012. Chapin Mesa (the most popular area) is 20 miles (32 km) beyond the visitor center. Mesa Verde National Park is an area of federal exclusive jurisdiction. Because of this all law enforcement, emergency medical service, and wildland/structural fire duties are conducted by federal National Park Service Law Enforcement Rangers. The Mesa Verde National Park Post Office has the ZIP code 81330. Access to park facilities vary by season. Three of the cliff dwellings on Chapin Mesa are open to the public. The Chapin Mesa Museum is open all year. Spruce Tree House is also open all year, weather permitting. Balcony House, Long House and Cliff Palace require tour tickets for ranger-guided tours. Many other dwellings are visible from the road but not open to tourists. The park offers hiking trails, a campground, and, during peak season, facilities for food, fuel, and lodging; these are unavailable in the winter.
The park's early administrative buildings, located on Chapin Mesa, form an architecturally significant complex of buildings. Built in the 1920s, the Mesa Verde administrative complex was one of the first examples of the Park Service using culturally appropriate design in the development of park facilities. The area was designated a National Historic Landmark District in 1987.

Thierry stood outside the front entrance of the ski lodge, waiting for Jamal to arrive. The cop had rented out one of their rooms as a Christmas surprise for the other male. Things between the two men were only getting more serious with all the time they had been spending together. Jamal coming into Thierry’s life was a curveball he wasn’t expecting. When he first moved to Providence Peak, the plan was to stay single for the first couple of years. With how busy he kept himself with work, Thierry wasn’t sure if a serious relationship would fit into his life. He imagined that he would find someone a little closer to when he retired. As unexpected as Jamal was, Thierry also knew how lucky he was to find someone he could find this kind of connection with.
A broad smile reached the officer’s lips as his date arrived to meet him. “Let’s get you inside. It’s freezing out here.” He greeted Jamal with a quick kiss, reaching for the younger male’s hand. Thierry guided them through the front lobby, his heart pumping nervously in his chest. “I hope you like the room. It’s a pretty cozy setup. I was thinking we could check out the heated outdoor springs tomorrow, if you’re up for it?” Thierry reached into his pocket for the keycard once they arrived at their room. He unlocked the door and pushed it open, stepping off to the side. “After you.”

may i request a ficlet about Bdubs meeting back with Cleo and Tango in the spectator zone?
brain said Just Cleo,,, so sorry hshjdhjd hope this is still good! this can also be found on ao3 here.
-------
The flash of a searing blade lodging itself deep into his side. The distant recollection that the dying scream he’s hearing is his own.
These are the very last things Bdubs knows as his consciousness is thrown from the now into the airy numbness of the after. One moment, he’s desperately hoping to flee from the flashing glint of netherite searching to tear his flesh from his bones, the next, he’s gone. The force of the sword’s impact sends him barreling forwards to his grave, but, funnily enough, he never hits the ground. The air grows dry around him, staticky and thin, and suddenly, he isn’t where he was.
He is standing before the Crastle, though it’s grey and desaturated. He remembers the feeling of the stone beneath his fingers, the rough edges against his skin, the feeling of accomplishment as he built it from the ground up. He remembers Cleo’s voice, admiration and pride laid deep in her voice as she listened to his plans. He remembers her fearful shout when the phantoms slipped through the deep night air to send him falling swiftly to his death. He remembers her words of consolation and reassurance the next morning, and again days later, when the flaring white-hot agony of lava against skin was still fresh in his memory; when the knowledge that the only lives the Crastle had claimed were his own weighed heavy in his mind.
Cleo was there through what he thought were his worst moments. He didn’t know it then, but the worst was yet to come.
He remembers screaming her name through the fields, through the forests, to the peaks of the mountains. He remembers Tango speaking to him quietly, ever so quietly, saying things Bdubs never wanted to hear. He remembers faltering. He remembers his own quiet words. He remembers the impact it left on him then, the impact it’s still left on him now.
He’s alone.
He was alone then, even with Tango by his side. Tango cared, of course he did, but he didn’t look out for him the way Cleo used to. Didn’t keep subtle tabs on him. Didn’t hover over his shoulder when he was doing something dangerous.
He was alone after the Red King was overthrown. He was alone in the wreckage of Dogwarts--not even Tango to stand beside him--and he was alone on the trek back to the Crastle.
He was alone when Scar came searching for him with smooth offerings and a silver tongue. Alone when the clock was placed so gently in his hands. Alone when he let himself slip down, down, down, no longer caring who it was he followed, as long as he was following someone. As long as he could pretend it was her.
He was alone when Impulse came looking for him, too. Alone when he blindly slew the only person who might still care.
He was alone when he died.
And now he’s back at the Crastle, walls pristine, unmarred by fires and explosions. Dull and blank, greyscale tones untouched by even the slightest hint of colour. Back where it all began, yes, but no, not back home.
It hadn’t truly been home for some time.
Bdubs turns from the towering spires, to, instead, the river, where he knows Cleo’s grave resides beside a spruce tree. He doesn’t know if what he’s seeking from it is comfort, or a means to sink deeper into the murky depths of pins and needles, of static and haze and numbness. He just knows he wants to be near it. Be near her.
He feels nothing when he sees it isn’t there.
He doesn’t feel his heartbeat; he doesn’t feel the pulse of life through his body. He doesn’t feel the air around him. He doesn’t feel the ground beneath him. He doesn’t feel anything. Nothing but a single harsh, bitter, bite of laughter, and a sigh.
“I really am alone.”
...
“Alone?”
Bdubs knows that voice. He whips around and is unable to truly believe what he’s seeing. He rushes over, hands hovering either side of her; he doesn’t want to touch, he doesn’t want to break this illusion he’s--
“You can keep watching the server once you’re dead, Bdubs. Did you think I was just gonna ditch you?!”
And now she’s smacking him good-naturedly on the shoulders and the world around him bursts into colour and he thinks he might cry because of course he wasn’t alone, why would he ever think he was alone?
She’s talking about how far he’s come, laughing at herself because she thought he wouldn’t make it this far, saying she’s proud of him for sticking it out right till the bitter end. They go to the Crastle, over their moat, through their gates, up their stairs, into their home. Because it is their home.
He smiles for the first time in days.
He is not alone.

The Curse of the Blood God
TW: Gore/blood descriptions, attempted suicide mentioned, major character death, swearing (not much).
WORD COUNT: 2,738
This is a mainly c!Technoblade centric along with c!Philza, other DSMP characters are also mentioned :] (if there are any tags I missed please tell me!)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Growing up, Technoblade was always surrounded by violence. With violence came death, so the concept of it was never unfamiliar to him. Never jarring, never shocking. It happens to those who are too weak to keep fighting, who make stupid decisions or let their guard down. It happens to those who lose, and Technoblade never loses.
Technoblade never dies.
So, when the tip of his blade pierces through an enemy’s throat, or when their blood spurts against the snow, and they collapse in a heap against the frost- Techno feels nothing. Partially because he doesn’t know them, but mostly because they made a stupid decision and they lost. They challenged The Blade. The Blood God. To Techno, losing a life is like losing a game, a challenge, a bet.
The L’Manburgians that suffered once he spawned the Wither let their guards’ down. The Butcher Army by challenging him had made a stupid decision, and those he challenged and triumphed against were weak. So, they lost a life, or a few.
Maybe that’s why betrayal hurts him so deeply, why the feeling aches in his very core. Someone has to be close to him to betray him, he has to put his trust in them, he has to care about them. For someone to then betray him, to betray The Blade, is a stupid decision on their behalf. However, that’s not the half of why it hurts so much, why the feeling stings and burns and engulfs him. It’s because he made the stupid decision to put his trust in someone traitorous. Yet, regardless of his stupid decisions,
Technoblade never dies.
Techno has few constants in his life, so he tends to gravitate to those he can control. Roasted potatoes and gapples, a royal gown he stole a long time ago that he wears as under-armor, a golden crown. Small things, items he carries with him as he flees location. However, one other thing remains a constant in his life, something he can’t pack in a suitcase or strap to his back- and that’s Phil.
His memories of his life growing up in the Nether are a mix of vivid snippets and utter vagueness that he’s had to piece together through whisper and rumour. He remembers fighting with other Piglin half-breeds in The Pit, uncomfortable nights spent unslept on hard nether rack, fractures and purple bruises left blotched across his torso. Gashes that reopened, scabs that refused to heal. The jeering and hissing crowd that surrounded him, as he was forced to rip apart his opponents; orphans just like himself. Losing their parents was the worst thing that ever happened to them, Technoblade being a close second. He could recall the *clink* of golden nuggets pooling at his feet, quickly soaked in the ever-growing pool of his opponent’s blood- this time a larger Piglin boy who laid face down, iron pickaxe lodged firmly in his spine. The crowd cheering his victories and spurring him on. Shrieking for more.
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD--
How he left- or rather escaped- the Nether falls into the latter category of utter vagueness. Phil had told him he came across The Pit when trading rare spider eyes on the black market, as he heard the value was higher in the Nether due to the specific spiders only existing in the Overworld. However, upon discovering The Pit he had, in his words, “gotten into a bit of a domestic over it with the ringleader,” which Techno suspected to be an understatement. Phil, apparently, had “completely non-violently, and totally consensually” taken himself and the other half-breeds to the Overworld. Techno, again, believed this to be a massive understatement, as Phil and himself to this day could not enter the Nether without a fight of some kind.
‘So, what ever happened to the other orphans?’ He asked, throwing a match on their fireplace. Living in a Tundra, while isolated and peaceful, required near constant temperature adjustment.
‘I spent a while rehousing them all across the Overworld, it took around two months to actually find homes for all of ‘em,’ Phil shifted more firewood closer to the hearth. A spruce log, dark and dense. Techno shifted in place, ‘Uh, what about me?’ He wanted to elaborate more on the question, rather than sound like a small child, but didn’t. Phil chuckled, ‘You were different, Techno,’ to this Techno quirked an eyebrow, ‘Different?’ He probed.
‘Well, let’s see... I did try a couple times to find you a family, y’know?’ Techno frowned, ‘Not because I didn’t like you, but because I was worried about you. I have a pretty dangerous line of work, and I thought you deserved a bit of a more stable life,’ Phil sighed. A beat of silence followed ‘So how well did that plan turn out?’ Techno asked sarcastically, earning a chuckle from Phil. His confidence rebuilt slightly. ‘I wanted you to have a constant in your life, but I also didn’t want you to be unsafe,’ Phil looked at the hearth, crackling quietly. ‘The more time I spent with you, I realized you already had a constant, Techno,’ He looked at the kindling, long charred and crumbling to ash. ‘Violence,’ Phil breathed, barely above a whisper. ‘You needed more than just violence in your life Techno- and trust me, I know I’m not always the best example- but I wanted to be that constant’ Phil continued, ‘And I’m glad I made that decision,’ he smiled.
A silence stretched for a moment, a tight feeling developing in Techno’s chest. He got this feeling whenever Phil said something particularly sappy, though the tightness was never painful. It was a pleasant feeling. It was kind. ‘Even if it means you can’t trade spider eyes on the black market anymore?’ Techno deadpanned, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. ‘Oh trust me, the market value for spider eyes has plummeted since the ‘90s, I was just trying to cut my losses,’ Phil smirked, leaning back on his hands. Techno rolled his eyes, ‘Christ you’re old, man,’ he said fondly.
A constant. Phil was a constant. He had been there to mend his tattered gown, tend to his wounds (now shallower, and fewer and further between). He had fought alongside him, brothers in arms, working together in the fight against tyranny. Phil was a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield, rightfully earning the title as The Angel of Death.
‘Who first started givin’ you that name, anyway?’ Techno asked, swinging his axe down and splitting a spruce log down the middle, watching it splinter and fall in two smaller heaps. The chill of dawn was warmed little by the sun peaking over the horizon, a reminder of the Autumn season soon to come. ‘What name?’ Phil looked at him, confused before shoveling another mound of snow to make room for their new vegetable patch installment. ‘I know you well, mate, but I’m not a mind reader,’ he chuckled. ‘The Angel of Death- who first started callin’ you that?’ Techno elaborated. Phil heaved another shovel-full, ‘God, it’s been a while since someone’s called me that. I reckon it started way back, before the Antarctic Empire,’ he paused for a moment, his shoulders tense. ‘I remember when I was little, I had a pet bird and I used to let it sleep in my bed,’ Eyes downcast, the air seemed to grow chillier. ‘It was the night before my 6th birthday, and I had a dream that I was standing in a cave, the walls covered in this weird writing I couldn’t read and... I could hear a voice whispering to me, but there was no one there,’ Techno heard him suck in a breath before continuing, ‘It said: you are the angel of the men befallen to you, you are the choice you will wish to unchoose. An unvindicated angel, an angel of death.’
Techno’s axe was frozen in place, feeling significantly heavier than before. ‘The bird was dead when I woke up,’ Phil swallowed thickly, before plunging his shovel back into the slush. ‘That’s, uh... heavy stuff, Phil,’ Techno shifted uncomfortably. ‘Well, it was a long time ago now, I don’t really think about it much. It is a bit weird how people started calling me that a while afterwards, though,’ Phil chuckled dryly. Techno blinked, deciding to continue chopping firewood rather than probe the topic. It’s not like he had much of a need to fight now anyways, Techno was perfectly capable and willing to take on the world for Phil.
From then on, time passed by quietly.
The Syndicate was formed, consisting of his fellow anarchists. Small battles were fought, but nothing extreme. Well, at least the ones Phil participated in. Techno’s bloodshed, however, did not slow. He was never one to insert himself into battles he had no stake in, but he found the “stakes” he held in the battles he fought became less about what he gained, and more so existed for the sake of fighting. Time passed, yet Techno never felt the effects of it.
The same could not be said for Phil, nor his peers. As the years passed, Phil seemed significantly older. The timeless winged angel he knew growing up seemed... ancient. As isolated as they originally were in the Tundra, the people he once knew became even further and further away.
The Winter winds of Snowchester became harsher than what Tubbo’s infrastructure could withstand. The damage to the buildings became too severe, Tubbo and Jack resigning to move to a warmer climate. Tommy went with them, unsurprisingly. Ranboo and Niki left the Syndicate to join them.
Eventually the Egg and its cultists seemed to disappear below the surface. The dead bloodvines oozed a mix of light blue and red when cut, any residual whispers too quiet to make out. Sam wasn’t seen outside the prison anymore now, and new visitors were always refused. George and Sapnap allegedly left Eastward towards a mycelium biome, the looming walls of Pandora’s box an apparently unpleasant reminder for them.
More people disappeared; their reasons unknown to Techno. Some set sail across the ocean in search for something new, something untainted. Some died in smaller territorial battles, or over Casino winnings. Others went to the Nether and never came back. Phil could only fly for short periods of time now, and it took a great toll on his body.
‘So, see anything new out there birdman?’ Techno inquired, brewing a potion of Swiftness II. ‘I saw a gravestone I never saw before, near L’Canyon,’ Phil coughed, slowly adjusting himself in his chair. ‘L’Canyon... I don’t remember anyone being buried there. Who’s was it?’ Techno asked, mildly interested. ‘The hedge stone was too eroded, it could’ve been written in Endlish for all I know,’ Phil paused for a moment, ‘You might be able to read it, you have better eyesight than me, mate.’ Techno looked at Phil, surprised. ‘That’ll be a pretty long journey by horse, we’ll have to load up on supplies,’ Techno muttered, adding another cup of Redstone powder into his brewing stand. ‘I’ll fly us,’ Phil smiled as Techno looked dumbfounded at the fragile man before him. He was pale, the feathers on his wings greyed, his face lined and tired. Techno swallowed, ‘Phil, I don’t think--’ ‘C’mon, mate. Just like old times. If we leave now, we’ll have plenty of daylight,’ Phil interrupted, placing a gentle but firm hand on his shoulder. No matter his age, Phil was just as stubborn as always, so despite his better judgement Techno agreed on the trip.
‘I’m still bringing a map, compass and overnight supplies in case we don’t make it before nightfall,’ Techno announced. ‘Of course, mate. I’m stubborn, not crazy-’ Phil was cut off by another fit of coughing. Techno eyed him nervously, ‘You’re sure you can hold my bodyweight, plus supplies?’ He inquired, dubiously. ‘Course, mate. Don’t stress about it,’ Phil reassured.
As anxious as Techno was, he trusted Phil’s judgement in his abilities. Plus, he couldn’t deny the rush he got from being in the sky. The wind flowing through his hair, the air fresh and crisp. He felt like a child again, riding on Phil’s back across the SMP. Soaring to the heavens at unimaginable speeds. He looked down at the pure whiteness that was their home, fading into dense spruce forestry, slowly becoming pure green Plains. Eventually, the green was abrupted by a deep, grey crater.
They landed clunkily, more of a barely controlled fall than a proper landing. ‘You okay, Phil?’ Techno called out, standing up quickly, and wiping grass stains off his gleaming Netherite. Phil was further North of him, lying in a crowd of thistles. His body was contorted at a strange angle, ‘I’m ‘right,’ he called, his face wincing. Panic surged through Techno as he got closer, ‘Phil your bleeding, what the hell happened?’ He yelled, grabbing the medical kit out of his backpack. ‘It’s okay, mate. It was gonna happen soon, anyway,’ another labored breath, ‘Just wanted you to see the sky, one last time,’ He coughed, blood spurting across his chestplate. Techno hastily grabbed disinfecting wipes, Phil winced as his chestplate was removed.
A deep gash spread across Phil’s torso, below his ribs. His upper half impaled on a sharp tree stump shrouded within the thistles, his breath growing more ragged. ‘Phil- fuck. We’ve gotta get you off this thing,’ Techno swallowed, beads of sweat forming at his brow. ‘It’s too deep. The branch’s lodged in my intestines,’ he cringed, ‘at this angle, it’ll rip through my lung if you move me,’ Phil whispered, smiling weakly. He was right, the wood was splintered and lodged firmly in his core. Dark crimson blood leaked out from the gash like treacle, almost black and intense in volume. ‘I can- I’ll get healing potions from the house,’ Techno hyperventilated, wiping the disinfected cloth around the jagged and bloody stump. ‘If that doesn’t work, I’ll find a totem of undying-’ ‘Techno,’ Phil cut him off, placing a hand on his face. He hadn’t realized he had been crying until now. ‘It’s at least a 3 day walk back to the house on foot,’ Phil chuckled weakly, interrupted by a another fit of coughing. ‘Then what can- tell me what to do,’ Techno pleaded, wiping the cloth across the gash again and again as the crimson continued to leak out.
‘Isn’t it painful, watching bleeding only to see more blood?’ Phil sighed, his breathing shallower, ‘It hurts but its undeniable, Techno...’
‘What is?’ Techno rasped, hands shaking.
‘...How good you are at wounding,’ Phil smiled, clasping his hand tightly.
‘Phil, please’ Techno felt sick, his shoulders shaking. ‘It’s okay, Techno. I wanted this. I wanted to see the sky one more time,’ Phil swallowed, ‘-with you,’ His squeeze on Techno’s hand growing feebler. ‘Bury me at the gravestone I told you about,’ Phil’s eyes fluttered slightly. ‘But- I thought that was...’ Techno trailed off.
It wasn’t fair. Phil had never betrayed him. He wasn’t stupid- his decision were always calculated. He was careful, he set traps around their base- he didn’t let his guard down. He wasn’t weak, he was an enemy’s worst nightmare on the battlefield. And yet, despite this, he died. Bleeding out, impaled and contorted near the shattered remains of his late son’s country. Phil died, just like everyone else.
Techno was alone. Phil, his constant, was gone. The other Syndicate members had disappeared, Wilbur died with L’Manburg and Tommy had long considered him an enemy. He was desolate and barren, the air felt cold as he sobbed loudly. His hands beat against the ground as he screamed until his throat grew hoarse. For the first time in his life, Techno ached.
It had been weeks since Phil had passed, Techno felt too sick to eat or drink anything. The freezing nights did little to numb him, blistering days did little to warm him. His muscles did not deteriorate, nor did his legs give out beneath him. Physically, his body was fine.
Back in the Tundra, his poison potions made him feel nauseous, potions of damage stung at his skin. No matter the mob, or the damage he sustained, he would respawn in his bed. The ache in his chest did not subside with time, the loneliness of the base encroaching upon him constantly. Yet, despite his stupid decisions, or letting his guard down around any mob he faced. Despite his weakness...
Technoblade never dies.

PROVIDENCE PEAK’S 80TH ANNUAL  — HOLIDAY MARKET WEEK AND TREE LIGHTING.
All Week (December 17th - December 24th) - From Saturday to Saturday, the residents of the city can find the holiday market returned to it’s usual downtown location, lining the glowing streets leading up to the large tree in the center of the city. The market will feature a variety of vendors (which can be found here) with the ice skating rink open just beneath the large tree in the center of the market. Hot Cocoa Stop can be found just off of the rink all week and a list of the following daily events can be found at the Town Hall.
Saturday (December 17th) - A rather unsanctioned event and not one associated with the city’s holiday celebrations, Atlas and Molly Williams have decided to take it upon themselves to spread holiday cheer and host an Ugly Sweater Party at the Williams’ house. The party will be bring your own beer and ugliest holiday apparel and if you’re thinking the combination of alcohol, ugly sweaters, and unbridled holiday cheer is bound to be messy, you would be entirely correct.
Sunday (December 18th) - Join Holy Spirits for a Sunday Mass that’s unlike any you’ve ever attended before. Starting at 8am sharp, stop in for a light brunch spreads of breads and cheeses and holiday-themed cocktails created by the bartenders themselves! After Sunday Mass, gather with the rest of the city at 6pm for the lighting of the tree performed by the head director of True Colors, Miles Cohen!
Monday (December 19th) - Running behind on wrapping those holiday gifts? Never fear. Stop by the Skyline Shopping Center and follow the signs to the wrapping station hosted by Chief-of-Police Jordan Walker where he and a few volunteers will be offering free wrapping in exchange for a donated toy of your choosing! Be sure to take advantage of all of the last minute holiday sales the stores will be running through the week.
Tuesday (December 20th) - If you find yourself craving more of the chilly season, find your way to Spruce Mountain Ski Lodge and Resort in Bighorn Hills for individual or family fun alike. Tickets will be buy one get one free for the duration of the day for all snow activities (skiing, snowboarding, snowtubing) and the resort will be offering a deal on their rooms with the purchase of an activity ticket. If you’re feeling a little too chilly, warm up in their heated outdoor springs or by the large fireplace in the lobby with one of their specialty winter drinks.
Wednesday (December 21st) -  In a time where many are feeling festive, come celebrate the feeling with the holiday market’s Holidays Around the World Showcase where attendees can find displays, food and drink, and crafts for sale centered around the world’s most popular winter holidays. The showcase can be found in a large tent in a central location in the holiday market downtown.

character: Aslihan Fahri-Bailey @draslihanxfahri-bailey
location: Holiday Market; Spruce Grove Ski Lodge & Resort
Having only been in the new resort for a few moments now, she was amazed at the stunning details of the space and going to the large ballroom, it was just like a whole new experience. “Holy toledo,” Dylan murmured as she stood beside Asli, unsure if they had just stepped into times of yore. She looked over to her companion, seeing if she was having a similar reaction. “Are we...Asli, I don’t think we’re in Providence Peak anymore.” She teased a bit, alluding to The Wizard of Oz.

100% Relative Humidity
Kassandra had just finished inspecting the fenceline along the back forty when she saw the flash of red — not the orange-red of fire or the arterial red of blood, but the deep bright red of ripe berries, the kind that caught the eye and made the mouth water with imagined sweetness. The berries stood out against a backdrop of Kermit-green leaves the size of her hand, and she grinned with recognition: thimbleberries. Kyra's favorite.
Perfect. She'd been daydreaming about Kyra all day. Kyra, bent over the kitchen table. Kyra, pressed against the bookshelves downstairs. Kyra, splayed across their linen sheets, her skin dusky with arousal, whispering—
Soon. She'd have Kyra in her hands soon enough. She dug out a handkerchief and set to picking, despite the cloudy skies threatening rain, and she was careful to keep from damaging the fragile fruit as she placed them into the sling of fabric. All sorts of berries thrived in Oregon, but the thimbleberry had resisted all attempts at cultivation. Too wild, too graceful to tame, it carried its nature within its delicate flavor. All other berries paled in comparison.
A big handful was all she risked picking — too many in a pile and they'd crush themselves — and then she journeyed through the woods back to the house she and Kyra had built on a hillside overlooking a hollow in the Coast Range, in one of the last stands of wild forest left after the timber companies had clearcut every mountainside and replanted them with nothing but Douglas fir.
There were Doug firs here, yes, but also western red cedars, hemlocks, spruce, and pines, and she'd even found a few Pacific yews scattered across the acreage. After a career of trying to save forests from wildfire, she'd finally gotten some trees of her own.
Raindrops pattered the grass around her as she knocked the sides of her boots against the post at the bottom of the stairs up to the house. Even in Oregon it was rare to see rain so early in August.
Inside the mudroom, the door to the kitchen was wide open, and she shed her boots without making a sound. Kyra was standing at the kitchen sink, humming as she cleaned a paintbrush, and Kassandra crept up behind her, silent in her sock-covered feet. She carefully avoided the squeaky floorboard near the woodstove, then slid her body against Kyra's, pinning her against the counter so she couldn't turn around and deck her after being startled.
"What—" she gasped, then blew out a breath of exasperation. "Did you have to scare me?"
Kassandra smirked. "You'll forgive me, 'cause I have a present for you," she said.
"Oh yeah?"
"Close your eyes and open your mouth."
Kyra did. No hesitation. And Kassandra rewarded her with one of the thimbleberries.
A moment later, she turned around as far as Kassandra's hips let her, her face beaming with delight. "They're finally ripe?"
Kassandra smiled and nodded.
Kyra had a smudge of dark green paint above her brow and another under her chin. "We need to go picking."
"Yep." She held another berry to Kyra's lips. "Maybe tomorrow. Rain's starting up."
Kyra sucked Kassandra's finger into her mouth along with the berry, and she flicked her tongue against the pad of fingertip she'd captured, her warmth erupting into heat. Then she set Kassandra free, gifted her a silky smile, and turned back to the sink.
Kassandra's heart revved up, valves opening wide, the pump coming online. She set the berries on the counter. "Are you done for the day?"
"Yeah." Kyra flicked the brush, the water in the sink milky with paint. She'd spent all day working in her studio. It was once the old machine shed, and they'd knocked out the wall that faced the valley and put in floor-to-ceiling windows. If Kassandra knew mountains and forests by the miles she'd walked across them, Kyra knew how to capture them with paint, in large-scale landscapes of rocky crags and misty woods and still waters.
Ten years they'd been together, as Kassandra worked her way up from her first Hotshot crew to leading a crew of her own, and Kyra began making a name for herself with her paintings. Ten years, but they'd spent much of it apart for months at a time, as Kassandra's crew shipped out to fight fire from Washington to New Mexico. She'd even gone to Australia a couple of times.
There was nothing else like it, the way a wildfire moved like a living thing, how it could be benevolent when contained, or demonic when left to its own devices. And she'd loved her work: the camaraderie of her crew, the challenge of 16-hour shifts over days and nights, the satisfaction of a fire contained. She'd even loved the danger.
But a couple years back, when that deadfall had caught her and nearly taken her arm off above the elbow, Kyra had begged her to quit if her arm didn't come back right.
Her arm healed, almost good as new. She'd always been good at that.
But she still quit anyway.
The wildfires were bigger now, the terrain more rugged, the seasons longer. She used to work for six months at a stretch; now she could work almost year-round if she wanted to. But every shift was a gamble of life and limbs, and Kyra had already spent years waiting for her at home, dreading every phone call.
It was time. Her life was no longer hers alone to risk, not if she wanted to spend a good long chunk of it with Kyra, and she needed her limbs, to do things like slip her hand inside the waistband of Kyra's trousers, to slide along the curve of Kyra's ass, to find the source of Kyra's heat. She'd always been good at that, too.
Kyra was damp and only a little swollen. Disappointing. "You didn't think about me at all today, did you?" she whispered into Kyra's ear, a pout in her voice, milking it for all it was worth.
Kyra's ass pushed back against Kassandra. "I... had to focus." She'd been finishing up a painting, the canvas almost as tall as Kassandra, bound for some rich man's house up in the San Juans. The sale would pay their property taxes for the year.
She'd been working so hard lately. She deserved a reward.
That was something Kassandra could give her. "How about focusing on this?" she said, and she slid her fingers close to Kyra's clit, close, but not quite touching, and grinned when Kyra dropped the paintbrush into the sink and pressed her palms into the countertop.
"Fuck," Kyra said, her voice quivering, and soon her muscles were quivering too, as Kassandra's fingertip set a fireline around her clit and Kyra's body answered with wet, sticky heat.
"Patience, love."
Kyra's laugh was short and incredulous. "Patience? That's rich, coming from—"
She slipped two fingers inside and stole the rest of the thought, and Kyra gasped and rocked her hips in reflex. Kassandra leaned forward and pinned Kyra harder up against the counter, and she buried her face into Kyra's hair, breathing in the toasty scent of her, warm and familiar and perfect...
Then she heard Kyra's voice, saying, "How long can you hold out, really," the burr of it vibrating into her own chest and lodging there as Kyra clenched her muscles tight around Kassandra's fingers.
"Sounds like a challenge," Kassandra said, and her free hand brushed Kyra's hair aside to expose her neck, stroked across her solid shoulder and bicep and forearm down to her hand, and their fingers entwined as Kassandra bent and started branding hot kisses into the arc of her neck. And sometimes it wasn't a kiss — it was the sear of raked teeth, or the burn of suction, Kassandra's wants flaring against her surface.
Oh, how she wanted. The heat in her belly burned along her veins, like fire spreading through tree roots under the forest floor. She wanted to fuck Kyra hard until she came, then fuck her again and again. But the gauntlet had been thrown. How long can you hold out?
Now Kyra was trembling and panting as Kassandra worked her up with short, teasing strokes that climbed but never peaked. But as rarely as Kyra ever begged out loud, her body always did it for her, her mouth falling open, her thighs spreading wide to expose how fucking soaked she was.
Oh, how Kyra wanted, too.
She was so wet that she ran down Kassandra's fingers, pooling in the palm of her hand. Ready and willing. And so Kassandra smiled, flexed her fingers, and...
Stopped.
Outside, it was raining hard enough for fat droplets to splash in through the open window. Kassandra pulled her hand away, her heartbeat doubling up at Kyra's whimpers of frustration, and she reached across the sink and tugged the window closed.
Her hands on Kyra's hips, firm, pulling her around so they stood face to face. A kiss as she loosened buttons, tugged trousers down. And then she lifted Kyra up to sit on the edge of the counter next to the sink, and Kyra stared at her, breathless and flickering.
She ran her hand through Kyra's slick heat, eased the tips of her fingers inside. Kyra sighed and her thighs spilled open wider. Wanting more. God, she was beautiful this way.
Then Kassandra leaned closer so their foreheads touched, and Kyra lifted her arms and circled them around Kassandra's neck, and they breathed each other in, and Kassandra closed her eyes and listened to the surge and splash of her own blood.
"Kassandra?"
"Hmm?"
"If you don't do something in the next two seconds, you're sleeping in the studio tonight."
Kassandra played dumb. "Oh, was there something you wanted?"
Kyra rolled her eyes. "Isn't it obvious?" She always had an attitude when she was being done to.
"Something like this?" Kassandra asked innocently. And she stroked deep deep inside, easily, languidly, until Kyra tilted her head back and let out a moan in perfect counterpoint to the rain drumming against the roof.
Kassandra was retired now. She had all the time in the world, and she made sure Kyra knew it, knew that the stamina that had powered Kassandra up and down mountains while carrying fifty pounds of gear and a chainsaw was now going to keep Kyra right on the edge of orgasm as long as Kassandra wanted.
Rain on the roof, dripping from the eaves, soaking the earth, the air scented with dark rich soil and the musk of need as they moved outside of time. "Oh god," Kyra said at some point, as she wriggled on the countertop, eyes closed, arms a circle of tension around Kassandra's neck. She was close, too close. Kassandra pulled back. Slower now. Not so deep. Feel Kyra quivering around her fingers, feel Kyra want.
All Kyra had to do was say please. She knew it, always had. But she was stubborn, so stubborn that it gave her secret away.
"You love it when I do this," Kassandra said, and then she leaned forward and kissed Kyra, helping herself to that sumptuous mouth while her fingers kept moving in the rhythms of build-up and denial. "I haven't been taking care of you well enough, if you could go all day without thinking about me."
"'s not true."
"Maybe I should wake you up every morning like this." Her fingertips sought the deepest place, that soft, hidden spot, and she lavished it with gentle attention until Kyra was writhing against her. "Work you up so you're just about to come, and then... stop." And she stilled her fingers to match her words.
Kyra buried her face into the side of Kassandra's neck, shuddering into her in long, rolling waves.
"You'd think about me then, hmm?"
Kyra groaned into her skin.
"I like this idea."
Kyra lifted her head and stared at her, eyes dark as loam and filled with pure, naked wanting. Her lips parted, and her mouth moved soundlessly as she breathed, showing flashes of tongue that made Kassandra's clit burn. Later. They'd plenty of time for that too.
Kassandra smiled. "So remember this part," she said, and then she fucked Kyra for real.
It was glorious, the way Kyra arched her back in offering, the way the muscles in her neck and arms corded as she held on tight, the way she cried out with the fierceness of a hawk as she came. She rippled around Kassandra's fingers, her pleasure imprinting itself into Kassandra's skin, and Kassandra pulled her close, held her as she trembled and caught her breath.
"Fuck," Kyra whispered.
"I was planning to," Kassandra said, and she scooped Kyra up from the counter and carried her in her arms.
"Oh yes. More," Kyra said, smiling her slow, silky smile. "But this time in bed."
Kassandra was already on her way.
Part of the Heat Index...
