Just got into this hell recently so my mind is like:
Kageyama getting seriously ill one night at spring training camp (he misses his sister at one point because of it)- Sugawara and Daichi (and a certain red-head) look after him.
Tsukki gets really sick one night while his brother is home or while visiting his brother, despite not wanting to, and Akiteru cares for him…. Tsukki‘s not sure how to feel about this.
Nishinoya (dude is so little, it’s adorable) getting messed up during a game- like honestly, this kid‘s job is to take hits, so like he’s covered in bruises and some of those lands have to hurt… of course he says nothing. Asahi has an issue with that.

Short Reflection: Spring 2024 Anime
I feel like 2024 is shaping up to be an unusual year for anime. Most mainstream shonen and isekai are staggering into audience fatigue of some kind or another, two-cours series are making a massive comeback, and big waves are being made from eclectic shows like Apothecary Diaries and Girls Band Cry that would likely be relegated to cult classic status in years prior. There haven't been many clear standouts yet, but there's a lot of fascinating second-tier stuff bubbling just under the surface. It feels like the general anime audience has grown so big at this point that the way we consume shows and the kinds of shows that break through are evolving before our eyes. Never mind movies like Look Back and The Colors Within waiting in the wings to redefine our notions of what animated cinema can be. All this is to say, I don't know what we'll make of 2024 when all is said and done, but it's gonna be a very interesting story. For now, though, let's take stock of spring's roster of shows to pick out the best, the worst, and the worth checking out. Not counting the shows I've already talked about (Hibike Euphonium's final season 9.5/10 and Demon Slayer's training arc 4/10) or MHA's latest foray, which I'm still waiting to see exactly how it shakes out.
Dead Dead Demons' Dededede Destruction: Please Watch/10
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/496db1a3e4565a26d1d98de1c80c5329/83d5c6069d6134de-5a/s540x810/c630203703ceb81ef542b59a5c3b53b6d296d61a.webp)
I'm putting this one right up front because while it's still very early into airing, there's a good chance a lot of you don't even know it exists. Released initially as a pair of movies earlier this year, this adaptation of Oyasumi Punpun author Inio Asano's bizarre bildungsroman alien invasion manga has been retooled into an 18-episode TV series with (apparently) lots of additional footage to fill out everything the movies had to cut for time. Those production circumstances alone would be interesting enough to merit checking it out (fingers crossed Haikyuu can get the same treatment?), but more importantly, this show is just really damn good, and it deserves better than being dropped on Crunchyroll with almost no fanfare and incomplete English subs that don't translate most of the written text. As someone who kind of loved and hated Punpun in equal measure, Dededede feels like all of Asano's best instincts on full display, a riveting exploration of how modern humanity is forced to struggle through "normal" life in the shadow of the apocalypse, asking how we can still set our sights on our futures when there's a very good chance that future might never come. It's messy and difficult, and yet it brims with love for people and our ability to seek kindness and compassion even in the darkest times. Just do yourself a favor and skip the awful "episode 0" prologue; not only is it leagues worse than the rest of the show, it spoils so many details about the story's endgame that it might just ruin the experience outright if you're not careful. You've been warned.
Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Part 2: 1.5/10
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c8d082dc6e220ea20249f79dedfcc67a/83d5c6069d6134de-27/s540x810/6a18e91c9b24a5bd2bced0cad3eddcc0653da3df.webp)
Is the second part of Mushoku Tensei season 2 as apocalyptically awful as the first part? Not quite, no. But that's only because Rudeus doesn't do anything quite as jaw-dropping as buying a child slave or kidnapping and molesting a pair of catgirls with no consequences. I know, the bar is in fucking hell and this garbage fire still barely managed to stumble over it. Otherwise, it remains every bit as vile as always. Here's a fun drinking game you can play: take a shot every time someone this season 1) makes excuses to justify why Rudeus shouldn't feel bad about doing something awful, 2) praises Rudeus to high heaven and calls him the most specialest boy ever, 3) falls head over heels for Rudeus in a matter of seconds. You'll likely pass out before you're halfway through the season, but on the plus side that means you won't have to watch any fucking more. I simply remain baffled that so many people have been fooled into thinking this show is something meaningful and smart, how many people ignore its glaringly obvious awfulness to pretend it's saying things it's not actually saying and exploring ideas it's not actually exploring. All I can do is wait impatiently for Re:Zero's return later this year so it can smack everyone senseless with a reminder of what challenging, subversive isekai storytelling actually looks like. Maybe then we'll finally be able to recognize this steaming pile of misogyny and rape culture for what it is and cast it out without a second thought. We can only hope.
Urusei Yatsura Season 2 (2nd Half): 4.5/10
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a096e76f590334324dc155dd98d695a4/83d5c6069d6134de-05/s540x810/7b6780b778d1569f7d774e2f9441d635fc641e17.jpg)
I think I've given Urusei Yatsura a fair shake. I've done my best to enjoy it through its weaker moments and painfully obvious crows' feet. But now that it's finally over, all I can think is maybe it was better off left in the past. There are infinitely better screwball comedies that have come since, comedies that have been building off the tropes Urusei Yatsura established and finding much more interesting, meaningful things to do with them. This may be a foundational rom-com text, but fifty goddamn years later all its best qualities have been improved upon to the point of obsolescence, and all that's really left is the gross, dated stuff and the fact that every time it tries to be sincere and sentimental it runs into the unavoidable problem that all the romantic relationships its built on really kind of suck. Sorry, but Ataru and Lum are an awful couple and all the worst parts of this show are when it unironically tries to make you root for them despite them being pretty blatantly terrible for each other. I'll stick with Inuyasha, thank you very much.
Wind Breaker: 5/10
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/680e93c4251ad46e8f57ac612a65fce0/83d5c6069d6134de-ee/s540x810/17af17a0a829a955ab03098e6b132c7cfc4c7fd5.jpg)
Man, why does every promising modern delinquent anime end up driving itself into a ditch before long? First Tokyo Revengers, then Bucchigiri, and now Wind Breaker has completed the trifecta. And this one had so much potential! Casting a shoujo-style blushy tsundere bad boy as the protagonist of an otherwise straightforward tough-guy action brawler is one of the most inspired strokes of genius I've seen in a long time (let alone getting the Kyo Sohma's VA to voice him). What better way to explore the emotional human side of delinquent storytelling than with a main character who's arc is all about accepting other people and learning to love himself despite the world's rejection of him? That plus a slick production full of badass fistfights should've been an easy recipe for success. Unfortunately, it falls victim to the most common of shonen death knells: getting stuck in an overlong, dragged-out arc that consists of nothing but uninteresting fights against half-baked antagonists that loses sight of what made this series unique until its final moments. And double minus points for entirely taking place in a single visually dull location that you're forced to stare at for like 5 episodes straight with occasional flashbacks as your only escape. Seriously, you could cut the Shishitoren arc to half its current length and lose very little of value. I can only hope the upcoming second season won't get similarly bogged down, cause a good version of this show is something I desperately want to believe is possible.
Konosuba Season 3: 5.5/10
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/49b9833cbc850ffe1f1295050ae34ee0/83d5c6069d6134de-6e/s540x810/244353c1481cfa001c9959130a0b645dd64f60b2.jpg)
So here's the good news first: Despite a seven year gap since the second season and a change in studio, Konosuba's third season is still every bit the same show it was. As for the bad news... well, the bad news is that Konosuba's third season is still every bit the same show it was. Yeah, in the years since I first watched it, I've had to really reckon with all the ways this show fucking sucks, and all of those reasons remain on full display undimmed by the passage of time. It's sexist, it's objectifying, it's violently queerphobic, it thinks sexual assault is the funniest thing ever when Kazuma's the one doing it, it's every bit as misogynistic and masturbatory as the isekai genre it's supposedly satirizing. And it's also still one of the funniest goddamn anime ever made when it wants to be. Seriously, if you just strip away all the godawful incel-pandering that's seemingly endemic to modern isekai, Konosuba's god-tier expression work and pitch-black sarcasm are a blast of laughing gas like nothing else in its vicinity. If it could just focus on telling actual jokes instead of passing off alt-right sexual politics as "comedy" half the time, it would more than deserve its status as a modern classic. But it won't, because it genuinely believes all that garbage is the funniest shit ever. Which is why it'll forever be stuck as a show that you can never admit to enjoying in public without being justifiably judged by everyone around you.
Train to the End of the World: 5.5/10
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/8a307a2d8e275682d57f891a3c969cea/83d5c6069d6134de-f1/s540x810/f0ed589bab30e2ebd13a34e0736fa02393addd56.jpg)
It's kind of impossible to describe what Train to the End of the World is about without sounding like you're flipping through ten different plot summaries and choosing words at random. But here's as best I can: a freak accident causes the world to morph into a surreal patchwork of bizarre locales, while also seemingly reducing the scope of the world to a single train line in Japan stretching between rural town Agano and Tokyo's metropolitan Ikebukuro district. When Agano high-schooler Shizuru finds evidence that her long-lost friend Yoka might be trapped in Ikebukuro- and also maybe related to the reason everything went insane- she hops on an abandoned train car with a few friends and a dog and starts the long, long journey to reach Ikebukuro through the madness and chaos that defines the new world. The best I can explain it is Gullliver's Travels by way of Alice in Wonderland and Salvador Dali, each episode taking us to another stop on the train line that's morphed into its own flavor of batshit crazy, from mushroom people to horny zombies to a post-canon bad end magical girl world. Unfortunately, any semblance of a point feels buried under a thousand tons of calcified absurdism too thick for anything resembling sincerity to peek through. There are attempts at exploring deeper themes or character moments, but the show's pace is so blisteringly fast and so deeply uninterested with anything beyond what wild ideas it can pull out of its hat that nothing really sticks by the time the train's rolling on to its next destination. If there's anything here beyond a series of wacky Moments(tm) delivered with the rushed breathlessness of a Youtube video on 2X speed, I can't say it made an impression.
Tonari no Youkai-san: 5.5/10
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/facdf72e1490a38d0ffbf47f97b0d62e/83d5c6069d6134de-26/s540x810/348d17195af59e0855f5a12fc4b7f040a81cb50c.jpg)
I'm of two minds about Tonari no Yokuai-san. On the one hand, it's a deeply heartfelt iyashikei that uses its fantasy elements to explore grief, loss, love, community, and the reasons we celebrate life even knowing it must one day end. This town of humans and spirits living side-by-side feels so real and warm you wish you could live there yourself, and the characters populating it, from earnest nekomata to old gay cars to prickly fox spirits and everyone in between, burst with inner life so naturally it almost makes you jealous. On the other hand, for some baffling reason, this show keeps trying to shoehorn in action plots and sci-fi elements that gel with the quiet, contemplative tone as well as oil and water. I genuinely don't understand why the author thought they needed time-space bureaus and giant rampaging snakes to liven things up when just the main character going through an existential crisis about how they're going to outlive everyone they love is ten thousand times more gripping than any of that other nonsense. On the bright side, the good stuff is still really good, and considering how few of you likely watched this show already, let this be your reminder this your reminder not to let it slip through the cracks.
Go Go Loser Ranger: 6/10
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/7b599860c741f8bd3b63e3419041f028/83d5c6069d6134de-9a/s540x810/2921a03a39244fdd926eed9d2ad9c7fe94b0bd2d.webp)
Is the idea of a dark, edgy twist on tokusatsu where the protagonist is a nameless minion trying to overthrow a fascist cabal of sentai rangers that unique? Not really, no. But god damn if Go Go Loser Ranger doesn't make it work regardless. There's something just inherently fun about watching one of those nameless background mooks that normally exist just to get punted en masse decide "You know what? I'm done being the world's punching bag. I'm gonna become the protagonist of my own story and take these fuckers down." We've all rooted for the underdog at some point, after all. It's only fair the most disposable fodder get a chance in the spotlight. And Go Go Loser Ranger delights in twisting that setup as far as it can get away with, constantly making you second-guess your allegiances to any one side as it quickly becomes clear there are no true heroes to root for in this world, just lots of different people flawed in very different ways, all fighting for their own personal gain. You're never quite sure when someone you're rooting for is going to break your trust with some horrific act, or someone you loathe is going to prove themselves more courageous than they first let on, and it keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting to see when the next shoe's going to fall. Sadly, it also suffers from Wind Breaker's mistake of spending too much time on an overlong arc that's mostly just dull characters fighting in a duller location, but by the end it's shaken off those doldrums and returned to form in a big way. As long as the second season can keep those gears turning, we're in for a good time.
Spice and Wolf Reboot (1st Cours): 6/10
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a7c51a158e2e0c070f53448e23e0fdd3/83d5c6069d6134de-85/s540x810/b30e9ba1a6007f6e89ea0c999ac9d71eb24e6fcb.webp)
Let's be blunt: there is no point to remaking Spice and Wolf. The original series is still just as good fifteen years later, and despite the source material continuing past the point it ended, it reached such a beautiful conclusion on its own terms that it more than cemented its status as a true eternal anime classic. Sure, it's nice to experience this story again, to re-aquaint myself with Holo and Lawrence's wonderful chemistry and the fascinating ins and outs of Medieval economics that drive their story. There's a reason I fell in love with this show so many years ago, and Reboot Wolf still has plenty of that charm to go around. But this isn't a re-imagining or a Brotherhood/Froobs 2019 style "proper" adaptation. This is just the same show again but a little bit worse in every way. All I can think of, watching this story I know play out again, is how much stiffer and generic the modern art direction and animation is, how it plays things so much safer with its source material while the original wasn't afraid to make strong changes, how Holo's prickly personality has been neutered into a much more docile, Lawrence-dependent character while the original stood so strong on her own two feet. Maybe it works well enough if this is your first taste of Spice and Wolf, but then, the original show is right there! You could just watch that instead and get a much better experience all around!
Yuru Camp Season 3: 6.5/10
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/109aa52268fd9dac43dbc00834d132aa/83d5c6069d6134de-e7/s540x810/eeb1818e62ca5a07da084af8ec9efce06dfce9ff.webp)
Speaking of shows that are probably pointless, was there really any need for Yuru Camp to continue after the one-two satisfying punch of season 2 and the epilogue movie? Those endings put such a beautiful bow on the series that anything else would feel superfluous. Especially with such a massive downgrade in the art direction department, Jesus Christ. I don't know who's running studio 8bit's compositing department these days, but between this and the latest Yama no Susume season, it's so painful to see a studio that once excelled at background art reduced to putting filters over photographs and awkwardly slapping ill-fitting moeblob characters on top. The clash between the characters and the backgrounds this season is legitimately painful at times, and for a vibes-based iyashikei like Yuru Camp, that could so easily be a death knell. Thank the gods, then, that most of this series' charm still comes through in spite of itself, the wonderful characters and delightfully daffy comedy still as strong as ever as it extols the virtues of finding your peace in the great outdoors. But if we're going to get any more, then please figure out how to make this new aesthetic not so physically repellent to look at.
Kaiju No. 8: 7/10
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f1f426d99a9e325bff72657959705129/83d5c6069d6134de-aa/s540x810/58a87ac773e01a3297731ca935c0ffe1b19eb7d3.webp)
I've said many times that the art of making a Good Enough show is more complicated than most people appreciate. It takes so much skill and talent, so much mastery of the basic building blocks of storytelling, to create something that's just fun to watch plain and simple. And Kaiju No. 8 is yet another example of how impressive it is when one of these shows gets it right. It's a simple, straightforward action show about an over-the-hill sanitation worker getting one last chance to live his dream as a member of the elite kaiju-slaying force that keeps the world safe from the towering monsters that menace it... by accidentally becoming part kaiju himself. The characters are simple but lovable, the emotional stakes are earnest without being overbearing, the action is consistently exciting and well-animated, and the story keeps you on your toes with well-worn tropes executed in novel and exciting ways. I honestly don't think I've seen a shonen action romp so perfectly nail its fundamentals like this since the early days of My Hero Academia. Whether or not this show will also rise to MHA's eventual level of complexity and thematic weight remains to be seen, but for now, it's just plain fun, and an easy recommendation to anyone looking for a good time.
Delicious in Dungeon (2nd Cours): 7.5/10
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/1d3a5123858e8c0b80c756b587733418/83d5c6069d6134de-b7/s540x810/049adc6f670f504ce8764aa3693cbf9361647254.jpg)
Well, I asked for Dungeon Meshi to get darker, and by god, that's exactly what it did. Through shocking plot turns and deeply disquieting thematic touches, this silly little fantasy cooking comedy has developed into something much more sinister and unsettling... while still being primarily a silly fantasy comedy about cooking D&D monsters into mouthwatering meals. I'm still not sure if the tonal whiplash entirely works, but my god does it make this a fascinating show to watch. A single episode can take you from some of the most gut-busting deadpan snark this side of Gintama to a skin-crawling contemplation on mortality and consuming life to perpetuate your own without missing a beat. Turns out, Dungeon Meshi has thoughts on the nature of food as a biological, societal and cultural force, and how that force is not always as simple or benign as a meal shared with friends and family. And it explores those ideas with a quiet dread that makes even its silliest moments feel like a tentative breath before things come crashing down. I have no idea how things will shake out in the second season, but if manga fans are to be believed, it's only going to get more twisted and insane from here. I cannot fucking wait. Just, can Falin stay on screen for more than a single episode without being kidnapped again this time? Girl's such a damsel in distress even Princess Peach is giving her concerned looks.
Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night: 7.5/10
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c1f4e2861cd71fc438746a9dc98d5a54/83d5c6069d6134de-e6/s540x810/25072f3242958125fa2a7317902fa5c25afff656.webp)
There is no feeling quite like being a young artist. You're excited to make your mark, painfully anxious about not measuring up while simultaneously being quite full of yourself, bursting with ideas and not quite sure how to execute them, but above all else, in love with the act of creation. And I don't think I've ever seen an anime that so perfectly embodies that messy, beautiful spirit as Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night. Four girls from different artistic backgrounds- an artist, a singer, a musician, and a tech wiz- come together as one to give each other the strength they lack on their own, forming the musical group JELEE as they strive to love themselves and their work through the magic they make together. It's an explosion of passion and joy, often times outstripping its ability to measure up to its ambitions and stumbling over itself, but always shining, always dazzling, always wearing its heart firmly on its sleeve as it celebrates the joy of creation in the digital age and the importance of sincerity in a world too afraid of cringe to accept it. It's also a wonderfully capital-P Progressive series; there's a gay kiss, one character is eventually revealed to be nonbinary in a scene so spectacular I wish I could bump my score up another half-point for it alone. Sadly, it only reaches those heights every so often- but when it does, my god is it a sight to behold.
Girls Band Cry: 8/10
I remember back when I watched Love Live Sunshine, I wished there was a girls' music anime where the protagonists sung the kind of badass punk rock usually reserved for the antagonists of idol shows. Well, it looks like writer Jukki Hanada and director Kazuo Sakai heard me, because five years after bidding Sunshine farewell, they're returned with one of the most exhilarating, renegade expressions of punk spirit we've gotten in a long time. Girls Band Cry is a supernova, a soaring firecracker of a show that marries an instantly iconic headbanger soundtrack with Hanada's typically spectacular character writing in this tale of five outcasts forming a band and coming together to spit in the face of the world that tried to grind them into conformity. Nina Iseri's arrogant, self-righteous immaturity is a primal scream for the importance of doing what's right over what's easy, and you feel that scream in your fucking soul. Even the show's scrappy CG animation embodies that non-comformist spirit, charting stunning new avenues for 3D anime with some of the most expressive character models and soaring concert scenes you're likely to see all decade. And while the pacing is definitely rushed at points, the overwhelming emotions bleeding from each and every scene make even the weakest moments go down easy. It's downright criminal Toei fumbled the ball on an official English release, but unless you're completely against sailing the high seas, you owe it to yourself to track it down regardless. So raise your middle fingers to the sky, spill your heart from your chest, and let Togenashi Togeari force you to believe in the power of rock all over again.
Dropped:
-Bartender Drops of God (3 Episodes). Too boring to stick with in a pretty packed season.
-A Condition Called Love (3 Episodes). Creepy possessiveness excused for the sake of romance.
Blue Archive (1 Episode). Do you even need to ask.
-The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio (2 Episodes). Awful adaptation that butchers what made the manga so great.
-Whisper Me a Love Song (9 Episodes). The production falls completely apart and it skips the main couple's first kiss. Just read the manga, it's really damn good and deserved so much better.

Spring 2024 Anime Roundup
Anime of the Season – Delicious in Dungeon
Source readers both online and in my own house have been talking this series up for years, so when I saw that it was getting an anime, and that Trigger would be the ones adapting it, I was pretty excited. Despite that excitement, I admit that it took a little bit to grow on me.
At the beginning, I found it awkward that the crew was in a hurry to get back into the dungeon to resurrect a party member before she’s digested by the dragon who wiped them out, but the story kept stopping to describe in detail the monsters they caught and prepared for dinner. Once I started to see more of the way the dungeon worked, with its resurrection mechanic making death merely annoying for adventurers, and the complex population of dungeon creatures representing a whole thriving ecosystem, the pace began to make sense, and the plot started to really take off. Being hungry is what lead to their party getting wiped out in the first place, so they have to work with the dungeon as another cog in its gears if they want different results this time. As they travel deeper into the dungeon, the wild situations and plot twists lead the characters to gradually reveal more depth as they respond to the challenges, and coupled with an excellent voice cast and fantastic visuals, it truly becomes a superb fantasy anime by the end of the second cour. Once the second season adapts the entire manga in full, this will be one of those series we’ll be talking about for many years. 9/10
First Runner-Up – Tonari no Yokai-san
The way this series began, it seemed like it was going to be a laid-back slice of life about the people living in a rural Japanese village in an alternate reality where humans and yokai coexist together. Eventually, though, it revealed its more dramatic ambitions, and tested the connections the characters had with each other through a series of unusual events. I think I liked it best when it was quietly focused on the characters daily lives, but the sci-fi flavored ending made for an emotional finish. 8/10
Second Runner-Up – Oblivion Battery
I don’t like amnesia plots, and I find Mamoru Miyano’s zany comedy mode to be nigh insufferable, so I nearly dropped this series after one episode when he was voicing an amnesiac catcher who yells bad jokes until someone breaks out in pity laughter. Luckily for me, the show got better and better each week as it added more lost boys to the baseball team and handled everything from the yips, toxic sports culture, and disordered eating, all with tons of feeling and superbly directed animation. 8/10
Black Butler: Public School Arc – Ciel and Sebastian infiltrate an elite school to get to the bottom of a missing persons case, and find themselves involved in everything from underhanded bullying schemes to intense cricket matches as they stalk their prey. I can’t say this is my favorite arc in the series, but it was so good to see the Black Butler gang back in a TV anime, and with better visuals than before. 8/10
Vampire Dormitory – A girl passing as a guy while living on the streets becomes the thrall of a handsome young vampire, moves into his dorm room, and begins an absurd, gender-bending romantic adventure. At no point could I guess what was going to happen next, because the mangaka’s galaxy brain was operating on a level I can’t reach, but I’ll always remember it fondly as highly entertaining shoujo camp. 7/10
I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability – Every season there’s a show I didn’t look twice at before the season started that turns into one of my favorites, and this was it this spring. By all rights, I should’ve been driven off by the busty maids and the ten year old protagonist’s booty shorts and rosy knees, but he’s such a likeable little magic-obsessed gremlin, and the magic battles were so well designed, that I couldn’t help but have a great time. 7/10
KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! S3 – There’s just something magical about the main quartet in this series that makes the sort of raunchy situations they get into hilarious rather than obnoxious. It’s all the standard stuff of ecchi-adjacent shounen series, but the character’s chemistry and the story’s commitment to the bit makes it impossible not to laugh along with them. 7/10
Kaiju No. 8 – This series centered on a guy who’s been turned into a humanoid kaiju, who uses his new power to join the force that fights against the monsters, doesn’t really do anything that a million other shounen action series hasn’t done before, but the animation quality is pretty great, and the all-adult cast has good chemistry, making them fun to watch. Depending on the choices the story makes from here, it could easily go stale, but they’ve given me an promising setup with this opening arc. 7/10
Train to the End of the World – A group of high school girls from a small town take a wild train ride through a world turned inside out by the activation of a 7G wireless network on a journey to find their friend in Ikebukuro. The bizarre, chaotic world created by 7G is unique and fun, with each stop on the train line having its own kind of madness for the girls to navigate, and it makes for a good adventure story. It needed more ambitious visuals, or a slightly deeper story, to be a great anime, but it was consistently entertaining week after week. 7/10
Tadaima, Okaeri – While I found the omegaverse content confusing and a bit weird the whole way through, I’m glad I gave this a try. Not only is it useful to know for sure what you’re not into, I definitely enjoyed more of this than I didn’t. It did some very welcome things with showing a young married gay couple being physically affectionate and doting on their kids like a typical family, and the story did a good job with topics like reconciling with estranged family and making friends as adults. 7/10
Laid-Back Camp S3 – The camp girls return, and this season had them tackle everything from backyard camping, to touring various suspension bridges, to the many kinds of vintage trains still serving remote areas. This season lacked a bit of the magic that made me love the previous seasons, although I’d be hard-pressed to point to any one reason why, but it still reliably delivered an effective dose of chill each week, and had a top notch OP to boot. 7/10
Wind Breaker – Delinquents seem to be having a moment in anime right now, and this season’s entry has the main character showing up with a chip on his shoulder and planning to fight for the top, only to find out his school of tough fighters acts as a local defense force and mutual aid society. The large cast is stacked with colorful, likeable characters you want to root for in their nicely animated fights. If it wasn’t for an awkwardly placed, overly long arc involving a rival team, it could’ve been a great show instead of a good one. 7/10
Tonbo! – A former pro golfer hits a low point in his life and moves to a small island south of Kyushu to start a new job, where he meets a middle school girl with a wild talent for golf. The production values are not particularly high, but the writer’s deep knowledge of the sport really comes through, and it was a lot of fun to watch the heterodox, instinctual Tonbo confound the experienced golfers she meets along the way. I look forward to the second half this fall. 7/10
Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy S2 – I remember really enjoying season one of this series, and thought it was a fun romp that played around with common isekai tropes, but I don’t feel like I got that from this sequel. The plot cut around abruptly at some points, dragged on at others, and never totally got me on board with his scheming and maneuvering. I still enjoy the cast, and I’ll probably keep watching the series, but it definitely felt like a downgrade. 6/10
Touken Ranbu Kai: Kyoden Moyuru Honnouji – Adapting a stage play that adapted part of a mobile game, the swords reanimated as handsome guys go to the Sengoku period to make sure Nobunaga’s end goes the way it’s supposed to. The plot is quite similar to Katsugeki Touken Ranbu, but with less impressive visuals, and a more annoying focus character. I got more Mikazuki Munechika (my beloved), though, so I was mostly satisfied. 6/10
A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics – If you watched Hinamatsuri and thought that it would be better with sleazy fanservice, generic light novel art, and less funny jokes, then this is the anime for you. It was entertaining enough to watch the characters flail around, but it hits nearly all the same plot beats as a much better series, and it’s hard not to compare them. 6/10
Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again – I hung in after a plainly bad first episode, and I’m glad I did, because it shaped into a genuinely enjoyable comedic slice of life that looked at growing old, rural depopulation, and passing things on to younger generations. The production was just a little too economical to quite call it good. 6/10
Astro Note – In a pretty clear nod to the classic series Maison Ikkoku, a young man moves into a boarding house full of boisterous residents and immediately becomes smitten with the young owner. Unlike the other series, though, this one involves aliens and a talking dog. Whether or not someone would enjoy this series likely hinges on how well the comedy direction lands for them, and a lot of it left me cold, especially the reaction faces. 6/10
Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night – I honestly enjoyed the first half of this original series following four girls drifting aimlessly in their lives who come together to form a virtual pop group. The visuals were excellent, and the voice actors were giving great performances despite the occasionally awkward dialog. Starting from something I’ll call the “boob incident” in episode seven, however, the show lost all of my trust, and the writing fell apart at the seams before limping through the finale with a pile of overly facile resolutions. 5/10
Unnamed Memory – Sometimes you don’t need to be familiar with the source material to know that the show you’re watching is doing an awful job of adapting the story. Whoever did the series composition here has abridged the life out of the text, stripping out all character development and story background we needed to feel for our cursed male lead and his forbidden romance with a witch with a tragic history. Without this connective tissue, the plot cuts abruptly from scene to scene, leaving the viewer behind. 4/10
A Condition Called Love – I probably should’ve just dropped this at the three episode mark, but so many people in shoujo fandom stan it that I wanted to see if there was something more to it. Unfortunately, my opinion remains the same in the end: he’s a pile of red flag maladaptive behaviors, and a teenage girlfriend who can’t tell when she’s been wronged by people is not a substitute for therapy. I couldn’t root for the romance, and the production ranged from mediocre to straight up bad. 4/10

Boruto things that made me lose my mind (ep 94-119):
I like how none of the kids from the original naruto teams are friends as adults lmao
Chocho: how could my mom love my dad? It has to be his ravenous appetite
Kakashi @ sasuke: lol u r so bad at bonding with ur daughter *proceeds to give him terrible advice*
Kakashi telling sasuke how to interact with his daughter: use a soft and loving voice. When you talk to naruto- (ok stop, let's appreciate your line of throught right there)
Sasuke @ sarada: I wanted to be hokage once (and babygirl that was one of your top 10 most fucking batshit insane moments)
OK the cursed marks apparently use genetic manipulation, which is odd and really interesting. I assume it works like a virus, inserting and expressing foreign... demonic? DNA. Weird.
Why are all anime scientists evil?
Karin: time to torch all these cursed geese 🔥 Sarada: no, stand back, I'll do it myself 😠
The more they say Karin is not sarada's mother, the less I believe it
...a goose they said was genetically incapable of flying flew away... fucking what? Just tying hard in exactly the same way as everyone else is not how you overcome genetic disadvantages like that????
Why all this moralizing abt kindness toward animals? This is a show where kids beat the shit out of eachother and murder ppl. Can we focus on not doing that maybe???
Orochimaru: hm looks like mitsuki is becoming too gay, we may have to delete all his memories 😔
Kakashi: why dont u wanna believe in ghosts? Mirai: if ghosts are real, why hasn't my dad visited me? (Hey kakashi, this would b a good time to tell her abt the time u spent literally dead? No? Ok cool)
THE CULT OF JASHIN?! HAHAHA. Losers.
Why tf do they even hold the chunin exams? Just promote ppl based on merit like they literally just did with shikadai??? (Historically its bc ppl like watching death matches)
The commercialization of the shinobi within the village makes me wanna spit and bite
Houki abt kakashi: the one who nourished lord 7th 😤 (is that really true tho? I mean he did his best but team 7 was a clusterfuck)
Konohamaru: there is no shortcut to becoming hokage! (Yeah sure but there is huge favoritism toward those trained by the previous hokage...)
Boruto: people aren't in love unless they overtly say it (I love to image this is how Boruto sees how ppl feel abt everything and that's y he's so loud and blunt abt things)
Random village: we stave off a demon by joining two bloodlines in an act of incest ✌️
Konohamaru, casually: my grandpa died by entering a deal with an entity beyond human comprehension 🤷♂️
#back on my naruto bullshit 🤪#i just lost my mind at the hot springs thing and rage quit. it just makes me furious on so many levels#bc they obviously arent training the shinobi correctly???? like they dont seem to do any field training??? hello???#i dont understand. also why has no one sat down with mirai and been like: let me tell u abt ur dad#its bc no ones friends anymore so no one ever sees her so shes like idk jack abt my dad lil#whatever. also in ep120 himawari @ boruto is like: Grandpa is gonna b mad abt u not camping with us#and all i could think was: aw hima fuck ur grandpa!!! bc i have successi0n brain lmao#anyway this was a lotta bullshit in these episodes#i think a lot was supposed to b fan service but it just made me mad hahaha get back to the plot pls#i get so mad at the characters and then boruto comes back onscreen and im like: oh there u r my son#and that is not the reaction i anticipated when i started this show lol. i cannot deny i am a boruto apologist#boruto#naruto#naruto ramblings#i cut out everytime i told one of the kids to shut the fuck up bc it was a lot

Found you 2
Baby Daddy Azriel!
Series masterlist ⋆ Part one ⋆ Part three
Pair: Azriel x Spring Court! Reader
Word count: 3.050
Warning: fluff
Summary: conditions are set
Azriel sat up straighter in his seat, he cleaned up, looked more put together. He wanted to make a better impression on his son than last time. The memory of his terrified face hasn’t left him, it has been haunting his dreams. Just the reminder unsettled him.
A hint of nervousness crept in, what if one misstep meant he wouldn’t be allowed to see his son again?
Meanwhile, you watched him as he sat across from you, dressed in black pants and a blouse that accentuated every defined muscle he had honed through years of training in the illyrian camps.
His piercing hazel eyes wandered intensely as he surveyed the room. Until they locked onto you, sharp and unyielding. His knuckles repeatedly tightened until they turned white before he forced himself to let go. Black massive wings folded tightly against his back, his shadows swirling around him, still inspecting the unfamiliar space.
Instead of his usual cold, detached demeanor, irritation flickered across his features.
That’s a first, you thought.
For once, he wasn’t emotionless.
For once, he was unraveling and it was because of you.
You had to hand it to his genes, you had basically birthed his twin. Amias was the spitting image of him, inheriting the same elegant planes of his face, a beauty that was almost otherworldly. He had his hair, his wings and even his skin tone. The only feature that set him apart were his eyes. Those were yours, a striking reminder of your Spring Court legacy shining through.
You still remembered the sadness, the ache in your chest as you watched your son grow into the features of his father.
The same scowl, the same smile, the same dimples.
It felt like a cruel twist of fate that your son had to look so much like the man who had caused you so much pain.
Sipping your tea, you deliberately avoided his gaze, focusing instead on the view outside. He didn’t deserve an ounce of your attention, not anymore.
You two were here for one reason and one reason only; to discuss Amias. You had to push your feelings aside, no matter how difficult it was.
It hadn’t been part of your plan for Amias to get to know Azriel. He wasn’t supposed to find out about him, he was meant to be raised by you, away from any danger.
Azriel’s presence now posed a threat to your role as a parent and as a noble in Spring. His work was dangerous enough and his ties to the Inner Circle only added more risks. The already volatile situation in Spring was bad enough already. You didn’t need to be accused of treason or colluding with the enemy, you’ve already had enough problems.
“Are you going to sit there silent again and not say anything?” Azriel asked, his shadows darkening around him.
Your lip curled in a faint smile. It was almost amusing, holding something over him, having a semblance of power for once. You might have felt guilty for using your son in this way, but Amias didn’t even know his father, not really, not the way you did.
He had no idea of the darkness and cruelty Azriel was capable of.
“You’re too loud,” you said softly, setting your tea cup down. His wings bristled, and you could tell it had pissed him off.
“I’ll lay the conditions out for you,” you continued, calm and unwavering.
“Be against even one of them and you’ll have no right to see my son.”
“Our son,” Azriel corrected, his jaw tightening as his knuckles turned white again. He knew, he knew you had set traps, and he wasn’t sure if he was prepared to navigate them.
“He’s my son too, Y/N,” Azriel said, frustration lacing his voice as his hand ran through his hair roughly.
“I only want what’s best for him.”
You ignored him.
Without a glance in his direction, you opened the folder and slid the sheet in front of him, wordlessly demanding his attention to what truly mattered now.
The conditions were clear and non-negotiable. They were there to protect Amias and you.
1. You are not allowed to take Amias without my permission.
2. Wherever you go with him, you must inform me first.
3. He’s my heir and will receive his education in Spring.
4. He will not train in the Illyrian camps unless he is of age and wishes to do so.
5. You will have no authority over me as his mother.
6. You will be a present father unless he chooses not to see you.
7. Your highest priority is to protect him, cherish him and ensure his safety.
8. You will treat him with respect, kindness and love.
9. You will not arrange or force any marriage upon him.
10. You will not harm me, kill me, or order anyone else to do so in order to have Amias.
11. You will not inform your family of his existence without my permission.
12. You will protect Amias before anyone else, this includes you protecting and serving your High Lord or your mate.
13. You will protect what is mine and what is automatically our son’s legacy.
14. In the event of my death, you will safeguard his wealth, inheritance and well-being. No one shall touch it.
15. You will not take Amias out of Spring unless he is in grave danger, or I am dead.
16. If you choose to have any other children, you are to treat them the same as Amias.
17. Any woman you decide to stay in a relationship with and who is to get to know our son, you will introduce to me first.
18. In the case of a mating bond between us, you will not force it upon me and will let it go if I do not want it.
19. You will not disturb my private life, you will treat me with respect and courtesy.
Azriel rubbed his temples, clearly irritated.
Most of the conditions were reasonable, but the restrictions on when and how he could see Amias gnawed at him.
Why did you have to control every aspect? Why did you have to approve when and if he could spend time alone with his son, or when his family could know about his existence?
“Can I introduce him to my family?” Azriel asked, his voice tight with frustration.
“No,” you replied coldly, your gaze unwavering. You hated the Night Court, they were the reason for Spring’s ruin and had caused multiple issues in Prythian across almost every court.
“He has a cousin,” Azriel pressed.
“You and I have no living siblings,” you shot back.
Azriel’s temper flared.
“Rhys has a son.”
“He’s your High Lord,” you responded flatly.
“He’s my brother.”
You sighed rolling your eyes. “Sure.”
“So can he see his cousin?”
“No!”
Azriel groaned in frustration, his patience running thin.
“Will you ever allow any of this to be permissible?”
You shrugged, taking another sip of that damned tea, that Azriel now seemed to take a dislike to.
“You either accept the conditions and make this bargain, or you can say goodbye to the future you’ve imagined,” you said, your voice steady but firm.
Azriel sighed, knowing full well you were serious.
“These conditions are set to protect Amias. He doesn’t know you and I won’t thrust him into your world directly.”
“What about condition 18?” Azriel asked, his voice tight,.
“What about it?” you responded, your gaze unwavering.
“Will you reject it?”
“There is no bond,” you replied, your tone cold.
Azriel’s jaw clenched again, the tension rising in his chest. “If there is one, will you reject it?”
“Most likely.”
His heart twinged painfully and an uncomfortable feeling settled in his stomach, like a bad omen. He hoped he wasn’t your mate because if he was, you would let him suffer. He was sure of it especially after what had happened.
“You know I’ll go insane from a rejected mating bond.”
You hummed in response, uncaring of the worry in his voice.
“Let’s then hope it doesn’t happen,” you said, a sharp smile playing on your lips as you met his eyes.
Azriel’s wings shuddered as the weight of the situation settled in. He didn’t feel good about this, not one bit.
“Fine,” he said, his voice resigned, “I accept all 19 conditions.”
You smiled and extended your hand. He took it without hesitation, his rough, scarred hand engulfing yours. The touch brought a flood of memories, both beautiful and painful.
Azriel couldn’t help but notice the softness of your skin, a stark contrast to the calluses and scars that marked his own.
In that brief moment, you both felt something, an electric jolt, a slight burning sensation. You felt the tattoo spreading under your chest, across your ribs. You were glad that you could hide it, no one had to know about what was happening.
Azriel’s breath caught. He opened his top, revealing the tattoo spreading underneath his pectorals. Tracing the lines with his fingers. You almost choked on your spit. What was he doing?
You quickly turned your face away, not wanting to see the sudden state of undress. It was nothing you hadn’t seen before, nothing you wanted to revisit, either.
In the brief glance you noticed something else, new scars. Some were fresh, still pink against his skin, while others had faded to white, stark against his tan.
“Roses,” Azriel murmured to himself.
“Now that we have a bargain, you can see him.”
You stood up, the white floral dress a stark contrast to Azriel’s dark attire.
Azriel was just a step behind you, he was eager to see his son.
He wanted to teach Amias how to fly, how to fight, to show him the things a father should. He wasn't going to abandon him the way he had been. No, he would be present. He would be the father his son deserved, a steady presence in his life.
For the first time in his life he had hope for a bright future, he wants to build something better, to give Amias a future full of care, love and guidance.
⋆ ♡ ⋆
Amias had been full of questions ever since he first met Azriel. His curiosity was boundless, he would comment on Azriel’s wings, marveling at how similar they were to his own. He spoke of the shadows, how they moved like his did.
Azriel’s shadows mingled with his own, twisting and swirling in a gentle dance and Amias couldn’t help but laugh whenever they played with him. They were soft and cool against his skin.
Azriel’s gaze softened when he heard his giggling. He felt this immense feeling seeing his son’s joy, feeling his happiness, hearing it, being a part of it.
He had come with presents - toys, books, sweets. He bought him books, child stories from the night court, stories of Illyrian legends, a little teddy bear and a bag filled with small cherry candies, you know Azriel enjoyed.
“Amias,” you called softly, lowering yourself to his level with open arms. He ran toward you, his little face lighting up as he kissed you on the cheek. You smiled, warmth flooding your chest as you gave him small kisses back, holding him close for a moment. You breathed him in, he smelled like a baby, you didn’t want him to grow up. He was already bigger than the other children his age.
Azriel watched the scene from a few steps behind, it stirred up memories he had long forgotten, pushed away. It reminded him of his own rare moments of excitement as a child, the joy he’d felt in those fleeting times he was allowed to see his mother, when he was out of the cell.
He observed how animatedly Amias spoke to you, his small hands gesturing wildly as he recounted his latest “battle” with his plushies. Azriel couldn’t help but let out a chuckle, he was in awe as he took in the pure, unrestrained joy of your son, their son.
Amias’s eyes wandered up to him. He immediately recognized Azriel, but this time, instead of looking scared like before, he smiled at him.
He was taken aback by his reaction. His eyes immediately searched yours, knowing you had something to do with it, but you ignored him, focused on brushing Amias’s hair.
It had grown long, already reaching his shoulders, he was in need of a new haircut.
Amias slowly slipped from your arms and stood in front of Azriel, his clothes a soft baby blue. His wings pressed tightly against his back and a shadow lingered at his feet. He stood there in awe, his eyes wide and round, smiling and giggling up at Azriel.
Azriel slowly lowered himself to Amias’s level. Even kneeling, his towering figure still loomed larger than both you and Amias. His sheer size stirred something hot inside you, something you’d buried long ago.
“Hello,” Azriel said softly.
Amias took a step back, looking at you for reassurance, as if searching for confirmation.
You smiled brightly, nodding and giving him the encouragement to go ahead. Amias turned toward Azriel again, his hands nervously fiddling. “Are you my daddy?”
Azriel’s breath hitched. There, standing in front of him, was his son, real and alive.
“Yeah, I am.”
Amias took a step toward him, wrapping his small arms around Azriel and pressing his tiny head into his chest, sniffling. You and Azriel watched as Amias’s small hands clung to him. Without hesitation, Azriel held him close as he cried silently, his heart pounding in his chest. He sat on the floor, embracing him tightly, gently caressing his head, whispering apologies for not being there all this time.
That’s how the three of you spent the afternoon into the evening, watching Amias play, him eagerly dragging both of you into his games.
Yet, he was always a little nervous, always turning toward Azriel, as if he feared his father might disappear again.
You both sat on the floor next to each other.
“Thank you,” he said, watching you. Your eyes never leaving Amias.
“For what?”
“For birthing, raising and loving him.”
“He’s my son. That’s a given.”
Azriel searched your eyes and this time, you didn’t look away. His gaze was soft and you hated the vulnerability in it.
“You know how they treat bastards.”
“We’re in spring,” you replied softly, making sure Amias wouldn’t overhear.
“Bastards are a given. What do you think happens after Calanmai?”
He nodded, relieved that his son wouldn’t be ignored or left alone.
“Even if he is Illyrian?”
You laughed softly, a touch of amusement in your voice.
“Yes, even then.”
“They don’t care about that,” you said, your tone steady. “You’d know that if you picked up a book once in a while.”
Azriel winced at the jab, his eyes narrowing slightly. Here he thought you were finally opening up to him, but your words made it clear how you felt about him.
“Spring is inherently open,” you continued, “We accept everyone and everything. That’s why festivals like Calanmai exist and the land prospered with children, happy, healthy children. At least, before Amarantha came and your Lords, or shall I say your “brother” and his runaway whore”
Azriel’s jaw clenched, the urge to retort rising in him. He wanted to tell you that Tamlin had been warned, that he had continued despite it all, but he couldn’t. Your son was here and he shouldn’t witness his parents fighting. But god, the way your eyes burned with hatred whenever you looked at him or spoke about the Night Court, it stung.
“Daddy are you angry?”
Azriel noticed the worry in Amias’s face and immediately smiled, shaking his head. “Just tired.”
“Mama tired too,” Amias added.
You chuckled softly at his cuteness.
You felt Azriels rage just a few seconds ago, you were thankful that he was still good at lying. You only cared about your son, Azriel’s feelings couldn’t interest you in the slightest.
“Amias, full sentences, please.”
“Mama, I am tired too.”
“You wanna go sleep with Daddy?” Azriel asked gently.
Amias nodded, his tiny arms stretching out toward Azriel. In his fathers arms, he stopped you from going to the office, where you usually spent your time.
You looked at him, noticing the expectant look in his eyes. “Can you both come?”
You nodded, glancing at Azriel. “You’ve got time, or do you need to go to work?”
Azriel smirked, scaring you. “I’m on vacation.”
The surprise was evident in your eyes as Azriel caught you off guard for the first time. Before you could respond, he scooped up Amias, who giggled in delight.
“Where is your room, little prince?” Azriel asked, holding his son up in the air with a grin.
Azriel’s smile was radiant and Amias looked so happy, it made your heart swell. Even if the reason behind it all was the sperm donor, the sight of your son so content made everything feel right.
“Let’s go,” Azriel said, his voice warm as he began to walk.
⋆ ♡ ⋆
There you three laid, Amias down in the middle, nestled safely between you both.
Azriel had woken up, his internal clock honed over centuries stirring him from sleep. But as his eyes adjusted to the dim light, the sight before him felt almost unreal, like a dream he wasn’t ready to wake from.
His son was here and you. There you were, lying beside Amias, your long hair fanned out behind you, arms wrapped protectively around the small boy as he cuddled into you. It was endearing, the way you both slept so peacefully next to him.
For the first time in what felt like forever, Azriel had slept through the night, no nightmares, no restlessness, just quiet, steady breaths filling the space around him.
His eyelids grew heavy again and he let himself sink back into the warmth of the mattress. Just as he was drifting off, Amias stirred, sleepily turning toward him. Tiny hands reached for him as he snuggled into Azriel’s chest, his breath soft and steady.
Azriel let out a slow breath, wrapping an arm around his son.
And for the first time in a long, long time, he let himself rest again.

Spring 2024 anime review!
It's time for my annual anime season review! I had a lot more shows to watch this season than last, which at times got a bit hectic! It's not quite done yet but it's done enough that I think I can put this up. Warning: Long post incoming where I ramble about the many anime shows I watched and personal reflection about how Going Through It™ affected my watching.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ecf19805d57b371991f3105bb2237c05/35e045bfbc59435e-10/s400x600/3263110cb9445bcec3c355bca863645665028ff2.jpg)
Laid Back Camp Season 3: My fav of the season, I'm obsessed with these camping girlies and any more time with them is always a treat. The combo of the suspension bridge arc with the wacky over the top arc is a fun jarring one, and the last trip was so sweet. Rin and Nadeshiko felt even gayer this season which is impressive, they're the most girlfriends to me, Chiaki and Aoi too (or maybe I should just ship full camping polycule???) It was only a few second scenes too but I love that they added Aya into the later arcs as well. I've been in a rough place mentally for a while and it kicked into a new gear this summer, so the comfort vibes of the show hit differently. I'm a super anxious person so chill times where everything is OK is such a nice escape from the world. Shout out to the OP/ED for being my favs this season! Also highly recommend both sub and dub, because the dub cast is SOOOO good once more. Celeste Perez is so fantastic as Rin, and Morgan Laure Garrett does an incredible performance as Nadeshiko. The whole cast is so great I could ramble on and on about them.

Whisper Me a Love Song: Not technically done yet as eps 11 and 12 are delayed, but in spite of the production woes this one has my heart this season in that "I love the manga and am happy to see this animated, I am hyperfixated, and warts and all I love watching it and get way way WAYYYY too sensitive about it seriously chiral go touch grass instead of having anxiety attacks about an anime" kind of way. The voice cast is SO perfect and everyone fits their characters so well and it's a treat to see the manga adapted. Himari and Yori's fluffy relationship was so sweet and I teared up a lot at their big moments. My beloved Aki got so many delicious angsty scenes while also showing her as not a bad person, just someone who's caught up in a crush while heartbroken about her true love leaving her (a true love that she didn't even realize was true love). Speaking about that true love, Shiho getting to be a feral cat storming into the proceedings is a treat, and I love that we get to see her earlier in the anime than in the manga.
The downsides ofc are the production that delayed two of the episodes, and now has the last two pushed to a later date, and my big qualm is the festival getting skipped over (well still kinda animated in the visual comic they released with the voice actors doing great on it), that's a bummer. I can see structurally what they were going for, 6 eps for Himari/Yori and 6 eps for the very popular Aki/Shiho storyline, and having the 'lost' ep voice acted helps a bit. But ughghggh even with all that...IDK it's still my babg and they're my babygorls so I'm rooting for 11 and 12 to be really great and for me to not engage with any fandom discussion about it LOL. Like I said this one had my heart this season, and when something latches onto your heart like that, I think it's good to cherish that a bit.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b0a760a1b9ec9802c471590664e144a2/35e045bfbc59435e-0a/s540x810/e5e82f3e951634a7c546480e614f99486c7d1a73.jpg)
Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night: I heard the buzz a few episodes in about this and was hooked pretty quickly. The animation quality was great, I adored the characters, and I loved the queerness in it with the nonbinary talks, trans yakuza ladie, the kiss, and while I wish they went more in on the romance, we still got a lot of queerness that I don't want to count out. It's another case where I really need to disengage with what people think about something when it's special to me (that might be the moral of the season, honestly). My big downside for this is it got a little too stressful for me, the big fight towards the end of the show kept me up at night. I might be going through it pretty bad if watching anime does that to me BUT we stay silly.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a3086d16c70eecd9e0deb33e250bdab6/35e045bfbc59435e-ef/s540x810/6fd60a44940495cbe596d9b80f9f9889d17eb035.jpg)
Train to the End of the World: I didn't realize until I saw a post about it like yesterday that this had the same director as Kill la Kill and Gurren Lagann and in hindsight yeah that tracks. This was such a wild ride, I love a good journey story and this scratched that itch well. A group of girls go on a weird, hilarious, and heartfelt journey via train through a bizarre world? It made me really want to write a journey story. Funniest show of the season by far, crazy visuals, fun action, each episode being a strange little journey on its own helped the vibe.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/1a68896c371aa0ae6598ddf35a11a2aa/35e045bfbc59435e-96/s540x810/ab1dc70eb2862b2d5b3804ea53161eff9730fbda.jpg)
The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio: This was a really cute one, bubbly gyaru x stoic girlie is a fun dynamic. Going by the structure, I assume this was the first 3 light novels adapted, since each arc was 4 eps IIRC. I hope the light novels get translated here because I'd love to see where the story goes next. My downside to this is this one also got STRESSFUL stressful in that like social kind of way as the main duo deals with stalkers, assholes online, shitty voice directors (I hope that voice director that was giving Yasumi a hard time gets super fired in season 2) and that took away from the fluff at times. Still was a definite highlight of the season.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/24a58a91856dd9e5e4317c2c886820f5/35e045bfbc59435e-d0/s540x810/051482c56f590b07be76c6971ce06903337591fa.jpg)
Nijiyon Animation 2: Maybe even weirder than the first season, I was really glad to get more of this one, weekly 3 minute adventures of a wacky gay harem really is good for the soul. I love the vibe of like "yeah we're doing this premise this week let's just go with it" that a lot of the episodes had. Do Season 3 cmon!
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/95961fe98c1c9978dd432d2fae9c8bf3/35e045bfbc59435e-74/s540x810/f3e5e9387546e46272421aef85a67d56a7fdbca1.jpg)
Vexations of a Shut in Vampire Princess dub: I am a big stan for Vexations, and this dub has not disappointed so far (I think just one or two episodes to go for it), VERY well cast with Brittney Karbowski (of Railgun fame) putting in a STELLAR performance as Komari, showcasing all the facets of Komari's personality, like her spoiled bratty princess side, her anxious about being plopped into a dire situation side, the theater kid performance that helps her through this, and many other sides, it's really fantastic work by her. Vill, Sakuna, and Millicent are standouts as well (every Millicent scene I needed to pause afterwards because wow 🥵).
I also watched the back half of Dungeon Meshi (which is so big rn that I feel like I don't know what to add? It's great!), the new Spice and Wolf which was nice, Bartender: Glass of God which was VERY chill, and a coworker friend rec'd Condition Called Love, but I did not really enjoy that one.
All in all despite the bumpy road, I was really happy with this season and got SO much yuri. I do still need to watch Girls Band Cry and will rectify that soon, I just had way too many shows to watch at once.
Next season I am mainly looking forward to My Deer Friend Nokotan, and started watching Suicide Squad Isekai mainly for the ED lol. Next season big goal also: Chiral touches grass and her hypersensitive ass stops getting so worried about what other people think of the anime she watches and to just enjoy the anime hyperfixation while it's in full swing like this.

She's a keeper II Mary Earps x Reader
romantic masterlist | platonic masterlist | word count: 1322
summary: you slip into your girlfriend's gloves in training, unaware that during an England game, fun becomes serious.
author's note: hi everyone, we hope you enjoy the little story we came up with. 🫶🏻🫶🏻
It was still winter, but there was a hint of spring in the air as the England team prepared for the next Nations League games. Everyone enjoyed the sun's rays on their skin and the warmer temperatures.
Done with your exercises for the day, you looked for something fun to do, watching your girlfriend being in goal you suddenly had an idea what you could do.
“Let me try it.”, you exclaimed thrilled.
Amused, Mary raised her eyebrows: “Seriously?”
“Yes, you heard me, love.”, you confirmed grinning.
The goalkeeper handed you, her gloves slowly: “Okay, don’t hurt yourself.”
“Don’t worry, I’m not as clumsy as Lessi.”, you assured your girlfriend.
She snorted unconvinced: “We’ll see.”
“What, are you doing in goal?”, Beth laughed, clearly entertained by the sight of you in your lover’s position.
“Seeing the game through Mary’s eyes.”, you explained.
With a slight smile on her lips Lucy braced her hands on her hips before resolutely reaching for the ball: “Let’s see how good you’re.”
“Not too bad for the first try, darling.”, Mary cheered on you.
Panting, you clutched the ball tightly:” Not bad? Do you know how hard she shoots?”
“Only all too well.”, the goalkeeper chuckled.
Beth gently pushed your girlfriend aside so that she could shoot herself:” My turn!”
“I'm ready”, you announced with a nod, resting your hands on your thighs while you waited for the moment the ball flew through the air.
The Arsenal striker happily threw her arms up in the air.: “Goal!”
“That wasn’t fair. Let’s try again.”, you decided.
She shrugged her shoulders and smiled cheerfully: “Okay.”
It gave you a certain satisfaction that you were able to fend off the next goal attempt. “And that’s a save.”, you rejoiced.
Beth whistled appreciatively: “Damn, she’s good.”
Delighted, Mary turned her head around to look into the England’s head coach eyes who had observed the whole scene quietly: “Sarina, you should consider my girl for a situation in which we need a field player in goal.”
“I hope that’s a problem that we’ll never have.”, Sarina sighed.
In a more serious tone, the Paris St. Germain player replied: “Same.”
“But it’s good to know.”, the Dutch woman remarked.
Watching you land awkwardly on the ground, Mary rushed to you with a worried look on her face:” Ouch, love, you’re good? I think that was enough goal keeping for the day.”
“No, I’m good.”, you waved it off as you got back on to your feet.
Relief spread through Mary’s heart:” Come here.”
She hugged you facilitated and gave you a gentle kiss on the forehead, not caring that you two were still surrounded by your teammates and not alone.
“I enjoyed being you for a bit.”, you beamed at her.
“And I liked the look of you with my gloves on.”, Mary winked at you, kissing you once more.
“Oi, get a room you two!”, Ella called from the other side of the field and grimaced in disgust.
You shrugged and pointed to your girlfriend: “She didn’t want to share with me! She’s rooming with Millie!”
The blond defender immediately joined the conversation, her eyebrows raised with a knowing look on her face: “Mary, do you read our room tonight?”
With her arm around your waist, Mary shook her head: “No, we’re professionals. We don’t have to be glues together all the time.”
“Exactly.”, you nodded. As much as you two enjoyed spending time alone as couple, you also liked to use the England camps as time to bond with your teammates.
Millie shrugged, seemingly disappointed in the two of you: “Fine then.”
You turned to your girlfriend, both of you stifling a laugh before you shared one last kiss and went back to training.
The scenes from that training session played in your head as you watched Mary go down in your next Nations League game. It was the 82nd minute and the referee had stopped the game so the physios could tend to Marys injury. She was sitting on the ground, holding her arm. A million thoughts rushed through your head while you walked towards her.
“I don’t think I can continue… But we ran out of subs.”, you heard her say to the physios, her voice straining with pain. You knew she would push through if she was asked too.
More and more of your teammates crowded around her, discussing what to do next.
You shook your head and silently cursed Mary for accidentally predicting this situation in that training session.
“I’ll do it.”, you suddenly blurted out without wasting another thought on it.
You could feel all of your teammates eyes on you.
“You’re sure? Maybe I can try to keep going?”, Mary suggested but the sweat pearls on her forehead and her clenched jaw already told you in how much pain she actually was.
You nodded determinedly and held your hands out for her gloves: “It’s only ten minutes left. And I learned from the best.”
Reluctantly and with a bit of struggle, she pulled the gloves off and handed them to you: “Okay. Good luck, babe.”
“Thanks.”
Another goalkeeper jersey with your girlfriend’s name was procured from somewhere. It was little bit too big for you when you slipped in.
While Mary was escorted off the pitch, you put her gloves on and took a deep breath.
You looked over to the bench and met Sarinas’s gaze. She gave you a small encouraging nod.
Lucy appeared on your side and patted your shoulder: “Don’t worry, we’ll have your back.”
“I trust you. You better not let any ball through.”, you warned them half-jokingly, but the joke seemed to get lost in the severity of the situation.
With a serious look on her face, Leah patted your shoulder encouragingly: “You can count on us.”
“Let’s do this.”, you clapped into your hands, trying to appear more confident than you felt which was one of the things you had learned from your girlfriend, fake it until you make it. Because goalkeeping was an act, and the pitch was its designated stage.
Suddenly the opponent striker was right in front of you, instinctively you raised your hands to stop the ball from getting into the net.
A shaky breath escaped your lips as Millie hugged you, relief evident in her voice: “Oh, what a save, well done.”
“That was close.”, you muttered still shocked that you indeed prevented the goal with gloves on your hands.
Leah’s hands were on your cheeks, lips pressed to your forehead:” Yes, but you did it.”
When the referee officially ended the game, the exhaustion hit you with full force. Mary who immediately walked to you wrapped her strong arms around you, smiling proudly at you. “You were so good.”, she chirmed.
Happily, you replied: “Thank you. How do you do it though? I feel like I’m dying right now.”
“You get used to it.”, your girlfriend shrugged.
With a glance at her bandaged arm, the smile disappeared from your face:” But more important, how are you?”
“I’m okay. It’s probably not too bad.”, Mary reassured you.
The grin returned to your lips: “That’s good.”
“So don’t worry. You won’t have to be goalie for longer.”, the goalkeeper lovingly tousled your hair.
You began to blush: “I’m just glad you’re okay, it looked so scary when you got down.”
“Unlike me. I wasn’t scared. Not with that back-up.”, she winked.
“Not even a second?”, you sounded surprised.
Mary shook her head:” No.”
“Uhm, Millie? You might need to swap rooms for tonight.”, you turned to the defender.
The blonde pretended to think about your suggestion before she gave in with a smirk:” You know what? You deserve it tonight.”
A comforting warmth spread in your chest, you could always count on your team and your girlfriend, Mary was a keeper on and off the pitch, you wouldn’t change that for anything in the world.

Poison Ivy
Luke Castellan x Fem!Daughter of Persephone Reader
Description: You've been best friends with Luke Castellan since you were 14 years old. Now you teeter on the edge of something more, but your jealousy causes you to question everything.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/044dfe0e92c648fd6635f911c99a1402/319ad982b32d4cee-a2/s540x810/dc2ba91c3128c5e110bd87e0969e803bf1fc09da.jpg)
You’re a child of Persephone, one of the far and few in between. Your mother had claimed you an entire year after you’d arrived at camp. Chiron had claimed it was to protect you from Hades' wrath, but you’d had a sickly feeling it was more than that. Children of Persephone are all springtime and warmth, and perhaps you are in the light of day but in the cover of the night, there is something else that claws at you. You are more winter than spring.
Your dad says its normal to feel disconnected from your mother at this age, but you don’t just feel disconnected you feel abandonded.
You’d never met your mother but you're so so angry with her.
Being the daughter of the goddess of spring came with expectations. You are loyal and kind, with a bit of a wild side. Your powers had manifested as chlorokinesis, you're particularly fond of plants, much like the children of Demeter, but you've got a hardness they don't have, a certain darkness only a child of the underworld could understand. You’d learned that on your quest, where you’d even able to speak and command hellhounds.
There was more to you than meets the eye.
For instance, your infamous knack for growing poison ivy around those who piss you of. It had earned you a loving nickname from Luke…
“Poison” he’d called you after a particularly nasty sprouting during a game of capture the flag when you were just 14 years old. It had been Luke’s first game at camp, some Ares boys were terrorizing him up in the trees, when you’d seen it you felt bad for him. Everyone knew the story of how Luke and Annabeth had arrived at camp with Grover and what had been sacraficed to get there or rather who. You’d come to his rescue, sprouting poison Ivy from nothing wrapping it around their legs and taking them out of the game in one fail swoop with your daggers.
They glared at you for weeks.
It had started a long-lasting friendship between you and Luke. You two were close, and you helped him out in the Hermes cabin a lot. You trained together, ate together, really you did everything together. Luke understands the burning anger that sits beneath the surface of your skin. He knows the warmth and brightness you radiate during the days, but he also knows the bitter darkness that hides within you.
Luke sees you under your mask and still he stays.
Maybe that's why you’d fallen so hard for him.
It was hard not to fall for Luke. He’s all tall, dark and handsome. He’s the best swordsman this camp has seen in 300 years, he radiates confidence and commands respect. But even without all of that everyone loves Luke. It's hard not to, really. He’s kind and brave. It’s no wonder the Aphrodite girls are so enamored with him, really most girls are.
Sometimes you’d catch him looking at you with this funny soft look in his eyes. His touch would linger longer than necessary when helping you during archery practice, and he’d laugh a little too loudly at your jokes, and give you that rare goofy grin when he finds you in a room full of people.
It’s in those moment you’d wonder if he feels the same way. When his words are just for you, when he drags you by your hand to the dock and lays down beside you to look at the starts. When he kisses you cheek before the both of you return to the cabin, when he peeks over the side of your bunk and whispers the sweetest goodnight.
But then there are times you think you're delusional.
Like tonight for instance.
You're sitting at the post capture the flag bonfire with a few of your friends. Selina from Aphrodite, Clarisse from Ares, Katie, from the Demeter cabin, and Juliette from Athena. The Apollo kids are singing and you're in a particularly good mood from winning. But then you look across the fire and Luke has a pretty Aphrodite girl dotting on him, Haley, you think her name is. She’s whispering in his ear, perfectly painted nails wrapped around his forearm.
She's the type of girl Luke deserves.
Juliette's finger snaps in front of your face drawing you away from your pity party. You sit on the bottom step of the bleachers with a leg on either side. Facing you is Juliette, up a step to your right sits Selina, Katie, and Clarisse.
“Hello earth to Y/N, anyone in there??” Clarisse asks, your eyes snap to her and bounce between the others, they all look ammused.
“Sorry,” you mumble cheeks heating in embarsement.
They all look over your head where you’d been staring, There's a knowing look that is shared between them before they looking back at you with a mix of exasperation, ammusment, and pity.
You don't know which one is worse.
“C’mon you don't think Luke’s really into that chick do you?” Katie asks you.
“That chicks name is Haley,” Silena reminds, before reaching out and squeezing you hand, “and Katie’s right everyone knows Luke’s crazy for you, I don't know why she's even bothering.”
Clarisse scoffs and cracks her knuckles, “I can kick both their asses if you want.”
This draws a laugh from you.
“Hey, there she is!” Juliette exclaims, pinching your cheek, you swat her hands away and roll your eyes, the pity is leaving your body but you're still left with the bitter taste of jealousy.
“We’re just friends,” is what you settle with, earning an eye roll from all four of your friends.
“We are!” you insist, running a hand through your hair, “He can flirt with whoever he wants.”
“Y/N, do you think we’re dumb?” Clarisse asks.
“What? No of course I don’t—”
“Well then you know you can’t lie to us,” Katie says, she's much kinder than Clarisse who stares at you expectantly. A classic daughter of Demeter, she reaches for your hand and squeezes. You close your eyes for a second and sigh before looking back over at Luke. The Aphrodite girl is sitting closer to him now, he's nodding along to something she's said. You look away quickly.
“Katie’s right, and as a daughter of Aphrodite I can tell you without a doubt Castellan is just as crazy for you as you are him,” Silena’s so sure of herself, you wish you could feel that confident, you wish you knew how he felt.
“Yeah well it sure doesn't seem that way,” you gesture towards where they’re sitting. Across from you Juliette hums.
“Maybe he’s confused,” she says
“Or maybe Haley just doesn't know how to take a hint” Clarisse grumbles. You sigh and swing your leg over the bleachers before standing up.
“Where are you going?” Katie asks, brow furrowed.
“I just need some air,” you say.
“Y/N we’re literally outside,” Clarisse quips, you glare at her.
“Figurative air,” you say, gesturing wildly around you, away from all of this.”
You're much too aware of how pathetic this all is, you pining in a corner with your friends and Luke across the way with a pretty girl who deserves him. You're not some scorned lover, you're just a sad teenage girl.
“Do you want me to come?” Juliette asks you. She's such a good friend, fiercely loyal, they all are really, and you're incredibly thankful for them.
You wave her off anyway, “I’ll be fine, I’ll catch up with you guys later.”
Your friends say their goodbyes, not before reminding you for the thousandth time about the small party in the Aphrodite cabin later that evening.
If you'd been paying attention you'd have noticed Luke’s boredom, you’d have noticed his eye that always seemed to follow you.
It’s darker as you get further away from the bonfire, you don't mind, the few lanterns lighting the path to the lake give you enough light that you can at least see where you're going. When you arrive at the lake, you're thankful no one else has had the same idea. You can't even count the number of times you've snuck away with Luke only to find numerous couples making out.
Tonight there's no one, maybe because it had been a particularly rough game of capture the flag, or maybe because the usual suspects (aka Chris and Clarisse) are still at the bonfire.
You make your way toward the end of the dock before sitting down, feet dangling off the edge you lean back on your hands and lift your head back to look at the stars. Around you the only sound is nature, and very far off in the distance, you can hear the faintest sound of the Apollo kids singing. Their voices echo and combine with the sounds of the trees.
It would be peaceful if you weren't so miserable.
“There you are.”
You open your eyes and turn your head over the shoulder. Luke’s approaching you with that goofy grin on his face and a sweatshirt in his hands. He pops down next to you on the dock and hands you the sweater.
“I figured you’d get cold, you didn't have a jacket at the bonfire,” he explains when you give him a confused smile.
“Oh,” you say meekly, pulling it over your head, it's much too big for you and it smells like Luke and kind of makes you want to cry. Still, you tell him thank you. His smile drops a little when you don't say anything else.
“You wanna tell me what's wrong Poison?” he asked gently, nudging your shoulder with his. You pick at the sleeves of his sweater, eyebrows furrowed, but hearing the concern in his voice you manage a small smile.
“Nothing’s wrong, I'm just tired,” you excuse. You meet his eyes and you can tell he doesn't believe you.
“Y/N—”
“Seriously, I'm good, thank you for checking on me, and thank you for your jacket but you should go back I'm sure Haley is wondering where you are and I'm really okay,” you promise. He’s got the goofy grin on his face again and he lets out a breathy laugh.
“Are you laughing at me?” you asked annoyed. He’s still smiling like he knows something you don't, he's enjoying this.
“What?”
“You're jealous,” you go wide-eyed eyes at his declaration, but you recover quickly with a scoff.
"I am not jealous," you deny, your voice gives you away when it quivers on the last syllable of your sentence. Luke’s grin only grows.
"Yeah okay Poison," he throws an arm over your shoulder, "whatever you say."
I’m going to push him into the lake, you think to yourself.
You don’t, instead, you settle for pushing his arm off of your shoulder.
"Whatever, I’m outta here," you say before promptly standing up and storming up the dock. You've got tears in your eyes you're thankful he didn't see. You can hear him laughing and calling for you but you don't turn around. You know he's not doing it to be mean, Luke's got a thing for teasing you, and you know he thinks that's what this is.
It doesn't make the sting of it any less.
Luke's got long legs, and you can hear him scrambling after you calling your name. You ignore him up the dock and the sand before he stops you stepping in your path.
"C'mon Poison I know I'm hard to resi–" he stops when he sees the tears in your eyes and you turn your face away from him. His brows furrow in concern when he realizes you don’t think it's funny. He reaches for you again but you take a step back and cross your arms over your chest.
"Hey, hey, hey, what's wrong?"
"Nothing's wrong"
"You're crying"
"So?"
He looks at you like you've sprouted 8 heads.
"What do you mean so??" You pinch the bridge of your nose, you've seriously had enough of him playing dumb. "Can you just drop it please?" you beg, shifting on your feet and wiping furiously at your eyes before any tears can actually fall from your waterline.
But he's Luke and your Y/N and you should know by now he's not gonna drop it.
"Wait," he hums taking a step closer to you and prying your crossed arms away from the safety of your body, he holds both of your hands with his own and presses them to his chest, you've got nowhere to hide. Finally, he asks, "Were you actually jealous?"
His tone is softer this time, it holds no teasing just a gentleness you can't quite describe. You don't know if it’s pity or fondness, you're not sure which answer scares you more. You still can’t look him in the eyes.
"No–"
"Y/N, c'mon don't lie to me."
You huff in response. He steps even closer to you.
"Last week Lee Fletcher was helping you at archery practice," he says finally, you look at him now, his grin is gone but the soft smile he’s giving you, makes you feel like he’s going to let you down easy. He’s going to use Lee as a buffer, say it's clear there's something there when it's nothing. You feel for Lee the kind of platonic love you wish you felt for Luke.
What you feel for Luke is world-changing and gut-wrenching.
"Okay,” is all you can say, you try to step away again but Luke just grips your hands a little tighter.
“Just let me finish,” he pleads, you nod your head and avoid direct eye contact with him, instead you focus on his dark hair, the dark curls that shine under the moonlight. If he notices you aren’t looking him in the eye, he’s at least nice enough not to say anything about it.
"He said something to you, I wasn't close enough to hear what it was but it had you cracking up and laughing in the best way," Luke takes his thumb and stokes the corner of your mouth, "you get a little dimple right here when you laugh did you know that?"
You didn't, you also didn't even know he had been there that day. You don't even remember what Lee said that had made you laugh, something about your aim.
"What's your point?" you mumble, his touch on your face is searing and his other hand has moved to your waist, you can feel the burn of his skin through your (his) jacket. You finally cave and meet his eyes, he’s looking at you with such softness you think you might melt on the spit. You're not stupid either, you know what this is. But you need to hear him say it, or you might actually die.
"I was jealous," he shrugs, like it's no big deal, thumb tracing up your check to tuck a stray hair behind your ear before dragging it down to cup your face. "I didn't have any reason to be but I was.”
Then with that goofy grin he says, “Kinda sounds like someone else I know."
You’re smiling at him now, you both know this is teetering far too close to the edge to come back from now. In fact, even without him saying it, without kissing him, you don’t think you could ever come back from this.
"Why?" you ask him, hands coming to rest at the nape of his neck, you play with the strings of his camp necklace to distract yourself from the lessening distance between the two of you. He’s dipping his head closer to you, so close that if he speaks your lips will touch. You want him to kiss you in a way you’ve never wanted anything before.
"You know why." And then he's kissing you. His arm around your waist tightens instinctively, and he presses his lips to yours hungrily, like a starved man who's just arrived at a feast. Your hands drop his necklace and weave through the shorter hair at the nape of his neck, something akin to a sigh of relief floods through both of you. His hand is in your hair now, and he tasted of marshmallows and spearmint, something so distinctly Luke. It’s incredibly intoxicating you don’t want to pull away. And you don’t until you absolutely have to in order to catch your breath, Luke chases after your lips with his own. Kissing them softly once, and then twice, before pulling back and looking at you with a smile on his face. This time you return it, a little laugh escapes your lips before it grows louder.
“Alright now who’s laughing at who?” he grumbles, still smiling despite his tone, his thumb strokes your dimple, and it allows you to compose youself.
“I’m sorry,” you say reaching up to kiss him softly again. He’s smiling still, so you know you haven’t really offended him. “I just kinda feel like an idiot now,” you admit.
“Well you are one,” he tells you cheekily, squezzing your sides with both hands in the way he knows you both adore and detest, you squeal and stumble into him, gripping onto his biceps in attempts to get him to stop. “You’re absolutely the dumbest person alive if you think there’s any world that I would wanna do this with anyone else.”
“Really?” you ask.
“Really,” he confirms. You reach up and kiss him again, a little more searing than sweet. Both of Luke’s hands are back in your hair and he’s kissing you back just as fervently, you feel his tongue slip in your mouth, and you swear you’ve died and gone to heaven. It’s Luke who pulls away this time, gasping for air.
“I think I might be in love with you,” he admits.
“Yeah, I think I might be in love with you too.”
Suddenly you both hear footsteps approaching quick and heavy, Clarisse stops in front of you both and takes in your dishelved appearance, before rolling her eyes and yelling.
“Guys I found them! You all owe me $20!” she calls out to what you assume to be your group of friends.
“Clarisse what the hell?” you mutter stepping away from Luke reluctantly. Chris comes barelling out of the forest, tripping over shrubbery. Luke pouts at the loss of contact
“They were making out?” he pouts to Clarisse who gestures towards you both as if to say well just look at them! then Chris turns to you and Luke, “You guys couldn’t have waited like one more day?”
You laugh as Luke whacks him upside the head. The four of you begin making your way towards the rest of your friends and the Aphrodite cabin where the party (which is so not a party) is. Your girlfriends squeal and Luke’s friends cringe. Luke throws his arm around your shoulder, "All good Poison?" he ask.
"I'm good, how are you?" he laughs and kisses your head.
"Never better."
You look up at him fondly and kiss the bottom of his scar as the two of you enter the cabin with the rest of your friends.
Across the room, Haley pouts with her siblings, but you don’t notice. You’re too enamored with Luke, the boy you’ve loved for as long as you can remember. The boy who loves you back.
