#Spray Painting Kitchen Units

This is White Hall Mill, built in 1900 in Athens, GA and it's been converted into condos. The unit for sale has 1bd, 1ba, and is listed for $529,900 + $496mo. HOA. (Man, housing prices are way out of control.) Let's look inside.
I mean, the entrance is cute, but they've got it all furnished. The buyer has to picture their own stuff in here. Like, my furniture doesn't look like this.
Wow, this is very industrial. Looks like they just sprayed it white, put in some new plumbing, and let it go at that.
The large faux fireplace built for a modern electric unit looks weird to me.
Interesting exposed and broken brick on the wall. The paint covers the details up, though.
According to the description, the loft can be used as a 2nd bedroom.
The kitchen was recently refreshed. I like the black cabinetry, but it looks like they painted over outdated oak cabinets and added new hardware.
I still say this fireplace looks strange. Like a giant piano.
They've got a lot of stuff in here.
This is nice, the bedroom is separated by a sliding door.
Huge bedroom.
The 3 pc. bath is nice, but small, and you have to walk thru the bedroom to get to it.
They do have a 2nd bedroom in the loft and it's big enough for 2 large beds.
The complex is bigger than I thought.
I thought it was the 1st unit, but it may be the last. It's on the banks of a muddy looking North Oconee River, but I like how the property curves. The woodsy opposite shore must look nice in summer.

[ 2403 POTTS LN, APT 2A, BLUE HARBOR, IL ]
This cozy 500-square-foot studio apartment is located on the second floor of a vintage two-story building in Weaver Ridge. The unit offers an efficient layout, combining a comfortable living area with a compact kitchen. Windows allow natural light to brighten the space, while the original hardwood floors lend a touch of warmth. The building itself provides a functional fire escape and a basement laundry room, though amenities reflect the building’s age. Ideal for those who appreciate an affordable, no-frills home with urban charm, this apartment captures the unique, gritty essence of Weaver Ridge.
[ THE WOOD HOUSEHOLD ]
Clementine Wood’s studio apartment may be small and worn, but it’s unmistakably hers. Despite what the description of the apartment might say online, the place comes with its fair share of quirks: the basement laundry room is almost always out of commission, the kitchen appliances work about as often as they don’t, and the landlord is a rare sight. The bed has to be shoved up against one wall to create enough room for a modest living area, and there’s likely mold creeping somewhere in the walls. But, hey! At least there’s a functional fire escape. Inside, Clem’s apartment is a canvas in itself, a vibrant, unapologetic tribute to her love for art. The walls are spray-painted in a chaotic burst of color, covered with sketches and bits of graffiti, and behind her bed sprawls a mural of Blue Harbor’s view over Cardinal Hill. Art spills across every surface, layered over any patch of blank wall with more of her creations, as if they’re pieces of her personality on display. Plants fill the space, too — lining the windowsills, spilling over corners, and even hanging from the ceiling. The air smells fresh and earthy, with a faint hint of citrus from the lemons ripening on a tiny tree she’s somehow managed to coax into life in the kitchen. Amongst the art and greenery, she’s carved out a cozy corner for her blue budgie, Dionysus. His cage and a few perches make up a small, lively nook of the apartment, adding a touch of warmth and companionship. Clem has called this place home since she first struck out on her own at 18, and despite its faults, she’s transformed it into her sanctuary — a little slice of Weaver Ridge that’s all her own.

TARGETS - 33 - Armageddon
Roman Reigns is an agent in the secret organization The Authority and one of the world’s deadliest assassins. When he crosses paths with a mysterious woman during an assignment, he makes a life-changing decision that switches his role from the hunter to the hunted. (AU Espionage Story)
TARGETS MASTERLIST
Thick, putrid black smoke clouded over the entire vicinity in record time thanks to the fast-burning whiskey, providing precious cover for Jasmine and Roman. Several of the agents zoomed in frantically for any sight of the two rogue agents, but it was difficult to see through the smoke and Lily's burning body. On closer inspection, they spotted Jasmine and Roman's jackets laying on the floor. Throwing caution to the wind, the fully armed team began to open fire.
Having ducked behind a Five Guys counter, Roman aimed at a man shooting at him and blew him backwards off his feet. Jasmine found her first target, Lotus, and swiftly put a bullet between her former colleague's eyes. As they ducked out of the restaurant, she managed to rid the dead woman of her grenade belt. From there, Jasmine and Roman smashed through the Dulux store, toppling over a large pyramid stack of paint cans and hiding behind a massive shelving unit to reload ammunition. Jasmine spotted the duffel bag full of money that Lily had given her. With a regrettable sigh, she tucked Lotus's grenade into the bag just as assassins swarmed the area. The grenade went off with a flash and a loud BANG, taking out the four nearest guys and spraying hundred dollar bills in the air like confetti.
Roman and Jasmine were now inside the shelving unit, crouch-running behind the paint cans as the shots rained in, spattering both of them with multiple colors of paint. Rolling out into the aisle across from them, Roman skidded across the floor on his back, firing continuously. Two Authority agents with rifles dropped to the ground, dead. Jasmine seized both of the rifles, tossing one to Roman before turning around and covering his back, shooting at multiple targets pouring into her own end of the aisle. Luckily, the aisles worked in their favor as they only had two directions to cover. With their backs to each other, the couple blasted their way through an oak wardrobe into another shelving unit where they fluidly reloaded their weapons, spinning into the next aisle simultaneously. The swap of directions was just as graceful as the couple covered opposite angles, their fingers on the trigger the whole time.
Assassins filed into each end of the aisle and realized too late that they had no cover of their own. Jasmine and Roman worked through them methodically, their weapons spewing hot lead and brass casings. They stayed observant, reacting to the smallest movements. Quickly realizing that they were at a disadvantage, the agents hung back, taking more caution. Jasmine and Roman seized on that little slip and refused to slow down their rhythm for a second – covering each other, reloading under shelves, crossing into aisle after aisle, covering each other again and again; working perfectly together.
They burst out of the shelving units and into a showroom. They glided through mock-ups of living rooms, kitchens, stalking through studies and immaculate bedrooms like a maze. Rounding corner after corner, they intercepted Agents that fired at them from their vantage points. Still, they came pouring in. It almost seemed as though all of the Authority and F.L.O.R.A. had gathered at this shopping mall. Jasmine and Roman's progress was slowed by the antique furniture, each one blown to pieces by bullets, the fragments cutting into their skin. The shoot-out was relentless, and it wasn't long before they were running out of ammunition. Two Agents advanced towards the blonde woman from the left. Roman went low, grabbing a cable wire from the ground and whipped it out, sweeping the Agents off their feet. As they fell, he snatched their AR-15s in midair and tossed the reinforcements to Jasmine.
He suddenly grunted with pain when a bullet tore through his right leg. He stumbled to the ground, and Jasmine went down with him.
"Roman!"
"Fuck!" he shouted, clutching his leg. Jasmine grabbed his arm and pulled him with her. "Come on." Together, they hit the deck and started military-crawling through numerous beds in rows. Jasmine popped up from behind one bed and took out a shooter emerging from a nearby wardrobe. As another came in full speed towards their direction, Roman popped up and blew his head away. Jasmine looked behind her to find no less than five agents coming into the section after them on both sides. They couldn't take these guys out without splitting up. She looked at Roman. "Can you manage?"
He nodded, his thoughts in sync with hers. With a quick count to three, the two separated, stalking through the beds, popping up and taking agents out, and despite his injury, Roman proved too quick for the agents. More shooters spilled in. Jasmine knew they couldn't hold out for much longer. She shot and weaved her way back to her boyfriend’s location. "We've got to get into the warehouse!" she said, "It's through that door over here."
"Go ahead of me," Roman said, limping towards her. "I'm only going to slow you down."
Jasmine eyed him like he was crazy. "I'm not leaving you," she hissed. She wound his huge arm around her shoulder, locked her own arm around his waist and guided him towards the door. With his free hand, Roman shot at the agents coming to his left. Just as they neared the door to the warehouse, there was a rapid beeping sound from behind them. Roman glanced down at the C4 blinking on the ground, and his eyes widened. "Jasmine! Look out-"
The explosion knocked them both off their feet.
---------------------------
Leona jumped backwards out of Hunter's reach just as he slashed at her with the knife, nearly missing her stomach. She slid away from him, grabbed another knife and aimed for his face, once, twice. He blocked her arm the third time, and with lightning speed, he dodged the other arm she swung at him. Grabbing her by the hair, he drove her face right into the refrigerator, denting the surface. Yanking her back just as viciously, he smashed the heel of his palm into her face and swung her bodily into the kitchen drawers. Knocking back-first into an open one, Leona collapsed like a rag doll, her flailing arm dragging the drawer and all its contents to the ground with her.
Straightening himself up, Hunter wiped the blood in his mouth with the back of his hand. His necktie was gone, his shirt was torn and stained with his blood and hers. He stood over Leona's prone body, his eyes wild and a maniacal grin on his face. Leona remained still on the ground, but her mind was moving, thinking. Out of Hunter's sight, a rolling pin had fallen to the ground. With her arm outstretched, her fingertips closed around it. Above her, Hunter raised his leg, about to deliver the death blow with a slam of his boot onto her face.
With one last burst of adrenaline, Leona swung the rolling pin. The utensil connected viciously with Hunter's other shin, the bone shattering with a loud, ugly CRACK. Hunter screamed in sheer agony and fell to the floor. But Leona let no move go to waste. Pushing herself to her knees, she seized the knife she'd dropped on the floor, straddled Hunter and drove it through the middle of his throat and back out in one brutal thrust, his blood splattering all over her face.
Hunter's eyes popped wide with anger and surprise, eyeing her as though unable to believe she had the balls to finish him off. His mouth moved, attempting to speak, but only a gurgling sound emanated, along with a gush of blood from his lips, the thick red blotches splashing against his paling skin. Leona watched the light in his eyes dim, allowed herself the pleasure of watching the body of the great Hunter Helmsley jerk and tremble before it finally stilled.
Breathing hard, Leona let the knife clatter to the floor and pushed herself away from the body. Suddenly, she let out a loud cry, and collapsed back to the floor and landed awkwardly on her butt, grimacing from two different sources of pain. The adrenaline was quickly wearing off, and the agony that was spreading through her was indescribable. One look down at herself detected the cause of her agony.
Sometime during the fight, she had been stabbed. Blood poured freely from the right side of her abdomen, soaking her shirt and seeping through her hand as she attempted to stem the blood flow. When Hunter drove the knife into her, she had ignored it, kept fighting, her thirst for vengeance overshadowing every other emotion and rational thought she owned. Taking in a ragged breath of dread, she slowly lifted up her t-shirt and winced at what she saw. The wound was deep, much too deep, and Leona knew that her chances of survival were very slim indeed.
With what little strength she had left, she crawled towards the gas stove. Pulling it from its place against the wall, she yanked out the gas hose that was connected to the back of the appliance and immediately, gas came gushing out in a loud hissing sound, filling the entire kitchen with the putrid smell of carbon monoxide. Her body grew weaker with each movement she made, her breaths shorter and more ragged. She wasn't going to last long. Leona propped her back up against the wall, looking over at Hunter's prone, lifeless body. She lit a match and stared at the little stick with warped fascination. She didn't want her body to be found. If she was going to disappear for good, this was the only way it was going to happen.
A serene, content smile spread across her wounded face. She was dying, but everything felt better than it was supposed to be. She had avenged Dwayne, just like she had promised all that time ago. It was all she ever wanted for three years and now she'd done it. Now he would rest easy, and so would she.
I'll see you soon, my love.
And with that, the former Director of The Authority extended her arm, holding the match to the gas pipe. The explosion that followed consumed the entire house in a gargantuan ball of fire.
---------------------
Roman collapsed behind the massive wooden crate, taking in big gulps of air. "Shit..." he gasped. His leg throbbed painfully and he was exhausted. His hair was matted to his face by sweat and blood. Leaning back, he turned his head to see Jasmine sitting next to him, looking as bruised and beat up as he was. "You good?" he asked.
Her reponse was a breathless nod. "Yeah," she breathed, glancing down at his leg. "Jesus."
"Yep. First my shoulder, now my damn leg. I guess I make a great target practice," he quipped, a small, pained chuckle escaping his lips.
With a grunt, Jasmine lifted her shirt, spotting the bullet lodged in her bulletproof vest, where her heart was meant to be. She could sense the dilemma they were in as well. They had barely avoided catastrophe with the explosion. Barely. They could hear pounding through the door of the warehouse as the surviving assassins tried to break it down. They had done all they could, but as expected, the numbers were starting to weigh much too heavily on them.
Looking up, she met Roman's eyes, her heart sinking because she knew what he was about to say. "No," she immediately said, shaking her head. "No! Don't say it!"
"Jasmine, you have to get outta here.” Roman knew that she could still escape, that she could still save herself. She had to. "I’m only gonna slow you down. You can make it outta here and head to Jamaica-"
"I told your punk ass, don’t gimme that bullshit!" she cut him off sternly, "I said what I said; I ain’t goin’ nowhere without you." Her gaze bored into his own. "It’s you and me, okay? Ain’t nowhere I'd rather be than right here, with you, Roman. As long as I'm by your side, I don't give a damn if I don't make it.”
“Baby, please,” he pleaded, “I promised Rose you would make it out of this alive.”
“And guess what? I will make it out alive. And so will you,” she continued, her lip trembling even when she didn't want it to. “We’ve come this far, and we owe it to each other to make it. I owe Leona. I still have the debit card right here. We’ll head out to Jamaica. We’ll find a cute little house by the beach, we’ll go fishing and yachting, I’ll learn how to make good ackee and codfish, and damn it, you’re gonna fuck me senseless and make sweet love to me every single day, on every single surface imaginable when we’re there. Do you understand me, Reigns?”
Her jaw was locked and her expression was full of resolve, and he realized she meant every word. Even in the chaos and on the brink of doom, he had never been more in love with her than in that moment.
“God, you so fuckin’ sexy, babe,” he smirked, “Come here.”
Pulling her to him, he seized her mouth in an intense, desperate kiss. Jasmine reciprocated with equal intensity, both very much aware that despite her rallying cry, this would probably be the last time they would ever get to share such an intimate moment. Right now, the destruction around them didn't matter. Right now, all they saw, all that mattered, was each other.
"I love you, Roman Reigns," Jasmine whispered, kissing him one more time. "I love you until my last breath. I will love you even more after that."
"I love you too, Jasmine. I’ll still love you long after I’m gone," he answered, reluctantly pulling away to cock his AK-47. "So, how we gonna do this shit?"
Jasmine did the same with her own AR-15. "Aim and fire." Being outnumbered didn't change anything. They had vowed to take as many people as possible down with them, and they would, if it was the last thing they ever did.
"You ready?" he asked her. The door to the warehouse was caving in. They could hear the metal bending, succumbing to the pressure.
Taking one final deep breath, she nodded. "Yeah. I'm ready."
"On my signal." There was the most intense expression on his face. "See you in the next life, Jasmine."
Jasmine returned the look. "Likewise, Roman."
The door to the warehouse burst open. A few tense, timed seconds passed before the Samoan gave his lover and partner a quick but firm nod. Together, they leapt out from each side of the wooden crate, trained their weapons on their adversaries, and opened fire.

One final chapter left. This story has taken so long to finish, lol.

My little sisters and I all live in the same apartment complex, but I've never been over to their unit because they've never invited me inside and whenever I had to pick them up or drop them off they'd tell me to meet them in the parking lot. This morning, I had to go over and help them deal with an overflowing toilet because maintenance is closed on the weekends (god forbid you have an emergency on 2½ out of 7 days). I got it fixed no problem, but I noticed something fundamentally different between the three of us.
Their apartment is the exact same model as mine, same layout, same 4 bedrooms, same kitchen, everything is the same, but theirs actually looks like a home. They and their roommates have decorated everything for Christmas. There's a tree and lights and stockings, and the kitchen counter is full of appliances and a knife block and a drying rack. They've rearranged the furniture and hung up paintings and have little knick knacks everywhere, it looks lived in and welcoming.
Mine is a cesspit hovel.
My building had a terrible roach infestation all year, so my roommate and I can't leave any dishes or appliances out in the open. The fridge is safe, but the cabinets and drawers were crawling with the bastards, so I had to keep all my food in baggies inside sealed tubs in my bedroom.
The living room is as barren as the day I moved in; it looks like an empty model apartment they'd show off to prospective renters. It's cold and gray (well, actually landlord beige), and I didn't realize why I hated it so much until just now.
Ever since college, I've lived out of boxes because I've been afraid to get situated anywhere; save for the few years I lived in my childhood bedroom at my parents' place, I've lived in a different place every year since 2014. I didn't bother unpacking because I knew I'd have to repack it all up at the end of the year anyway and move somewhere else, so I've never been able to make a space my own. My sisters move apartments every year, and they just deal with it; they don't mind packing and unpacking, that's just one of the things they gotta do, and their apartments are always so much cozier for it.
I've sprayed Raid all over the kitchen and swept out behind the fridge and stove and called pest control two or three times since I moved in in September, and come to think of it, I haven't seen any roaches in weeks. I think the infestation might have been dealt with, this afternoon my roommate has started moving his utensils into the kitchen, so I think I'm gonna unpack for real. I'm hesitant about food, but after a personal inspection I feel confident enougn to put all my pots and pans and plates in the cabinets.
If I'm wrong and the roaches come back with a vengeance, I'll clean everything and repack it back in my room, but for now I think I can finally start to relax. I'm gonna hang some posters in the living room, maybe put out some coffee table books, move the couch and chairs away from the wall. Once I get some money, I'll buy a bookshelf and put all my tapes and DVDs out there for easy access.
This is going to be nice. 2023 has been unrelentingly horrible from start to finish, but 2024 will be better.

Class of Heroes AU: Roommates & Dorms
What I have for you today is the assignments for roommates, and the descriptions of the enchanted dorm rooms! Enjoy, and as always, credit to @imsparky2002 and @artzychic27!
Marinette & Alya
• The two girls quickly bonded over their dedication to their families, and became the best of friends! Alya is often the first to reassure Marinette when she feels she’s failed as a warrior.
Mari’s Half: The part she sleeps in is modeled after her family home, with modest furniture and complete with a stone bench under a magnolia tree. But the other part is a miniature training arena, where she can practice her sword work and martial arts.
Alya’s Half: One half is modeled as a modest, cozy bedroom, which is where she lives and sleeps, but the other half is a fully-equipped Cajun kitchen, with a stocked pantry of ingredients!
Adrien & Nino
• With Nino seeing someone truly in need of a Fairy Godbro, the two boys quickly became best bros, with Nino helping Adrien to be his own person and to live how he wants.
Adrien’s Half: Modeled after his tower alcove, Adrien’s furniture all rests on platforms jutting out from the walls, with hooks for him to swing his hair over and elevate himself.
Nino’s Half: Like Adrien’s half, everything is elevated, but Nino’s furniture is all floating. Everything is very plush and soft, perfect for any of his friends to sit and vent. Surprisingly elegant and tasteful.
Kim & Max
• While Max was initially wary of his roommate, the two boys quickly bonded despite their differing interests and personalities, becoming best friends. Kim protects Max from his bullies and Max helps Kim with his school work.
Kim’s Half: Designed after a Greek temple, Kim’s bed and other furniture rests on one side of his half, while the other half is a personal gym complete with weightlifting equipment, a treadmill, and various other workout amenities.
Max’s Half: A cluttered machine garage with several work tables and various different high-tech power tools. The walls are covered with blueprints and lined with tool storage units. The space where he actually lives and sleeps is fairly simple and tucked in a corner.
Chloé & Zoé
• The two half-sisters never had a warm relationship and that doesn’t improve here at first. However, once Zoé stands up to Chloé and Chloé learns to do things for herself, they are able to develop a true, sisterly bond.
Chloé’s Half: A huge and lavishly decorated bedroom with antique furniture, including several chaise lounges, and a MASSIVE vanity and wardrobe area. Everything is super expensive.
Zoé’s Half: A modest, attic-esque alcove with simple furniture and a closet for cleaning supplies, and a studio area with mannequins for her up-cycling. It’s completely spotless, naturally.
Nathaniel & Jean
• Nathaniel is initially a tad nervous around his bombastic, theatrical roommate, but he quickly warms up to Jean and the two become friends due to their love of the arts. (Nathaniel snores incredibly loudly, and Jean grows so accustomed to the noise with time that he needs a recording of it to sleep when he visits home!)
Nathaniel’s Half: Most of the section he lives in is taken up by his massive canopy bed, but it resembles his room back in the fairy cottage, cozy and warm. The other section is taken up by his art studio, equipped with all the supplies he could need, from charcoals to spray paints.
Jean’s Half: Modeled after an elaborate Inca temple, Jean’s room is furnished almost entirely in gold. He had the biggest of everything and he’s proud of it. He also has a full theater set up, complete with stage and audience seating. He’s a showman as well as an emperor, after all!
Marc & Ivan
• With their mutual shy and quiet natures, it takes the two boys a bit to break the ice(ha), but they eventually become great friends when they connect over people fearing them, for powers and appearance respectively.
Marc’s Half: Modeled after the frosty mountains of his home, Marc’s floor is coated at all times with at least an inch of snow. All his furniture is made of solid ice, and he also had a miniature ice rink as well as a small writing nook.
Ivan’s Half: Made to resemble the bell tower he called home, Ivan’s section of the room is a dark, stone alcove with modest furniture and a perch for his gargoyle friends. It also has a miniature bell tower of its own that helps to soothe him when he’s stressed.
Kagami & Ondine
• Ondine is initially very intimidated by her roommate, and Kagami’s stoic nature doesn’t help things at first. However, the two girls are eventually able to come together as great friends when they bond over the stress of domineering parents. (Kagami kind of…fights in her sleep, which is something that still kind of freaks Ondine out…)
Kagami’s Half: Built for a warrior princess, Kagami’s half comes equipped with a full shooting range as well as dummies to practice her sword skills on. Her bed and living space resembles her bedroom back home, with a futon that she can fold away for more training space.
Ondine’s Half: With her bed, wardrobe and other furniture resting in the center on a smooth, flat rock, Ondine’s section of the room is a mermaid grotto complete with craggy rocks and saltwater about knee high.
Mylene & Reshma
• The two girls click almost immediately with their mutual love of nature, becoming close friends within a few days. Reshma teaches Mylene all about flower symbolism and Mylene encourages her to grow whatever she likes.
Mylene’s Half: Designed after a cozy cottage in the woods, everything about Mylene’s is modest and charming. She even has a miniature forest where her animal friends can gather and rest!
Reshma’s Half: An almost perfect replica of her room back in her family’s own magical home, Reshma’s room is a flurry of brightly colored flowers and plants with all her furniture hanging from the ceiling by vines, including her bed, which doubles as a swing.
Aurore & Rose
• Both caring and kind by nature, the two girls quickly form a close bond over their love of helping others. The perfect roommates, courteous and respectful to a fault.
Aurore’s Half: Aurore’s side of the room seems plucked right from the night sky, with (blue, of course) furniture situated on fluffy clouds, one of which serves as her bed, and dark, open walls and ceiling glittering with stars.
Rose’s Half: Rose’s half of the room is lined to the brim with bookshelves of all her favorite stories, lit by large windows lined with scores of flowers. Her living and sleep space comes complete with a comfy reading nook.
Juleka & Sabrina
• Surprisingly, these two are quick to become close, bonding over their status as ‘oddballs’. Juleka often helps to calm Sabrina from her nightmares alongside Aurore and Sabrina will be one of the first to check in with Juleka when she ‘beasts out’.
Juleka’s Half: A gothically elegant royal bedroom, Juleka’s side consists of dark stone and furniture that seems able to move about with no assistance from anyone. It also has a small alcove with a large grand piano she plays when she misses her brother.
Sabrina’s Half: Modeled after her father’s workshop, Sabrina’s room is modest but charming with a stage where she can sing and dance however SHE likes, as well as a corner with supplies to make quick repairs, such as spare pegs and sanding blocks.
Alix & Cosette
• It takes these two some time to really gel, with Alix’s boisterous nature and Cosette’s more mellow vibe. They are able to bond over the feeling of having to learn to look out for yourself, being a traveling celeb and an orphan respectively.
Alix’s Half: A sandy expanse like the deserts of her home, Alix’s furniture and decorations are as eclectic as she is. Her bed is a large, floating carpet that usually has sand in it, but she doesn’t mind.
Cosette’s Half: Modeled after their tour bus, with elements from its favorite music videos she’s ever shot. Also comes with a mini recording studio for whenever they get hit with inspiration!
Denise & Mireille
• Mireille, timid as she is, is quite fearful around her roommate at first, but Denise is able to endear her with their awkward charm and friendly nature. She often comforts them over their treatment as a “bad guy”.
Denise’s Half: In the midst of an 8-bit video game forest, most of Denise’s possessions are scattered about within the mound of bricks they sleep on, complete with their treasured stump for a pillow.
Mireille’s Half: Taken straight from the plains of the savannah, Mireille’s section consists of her furniture in the midst of tall grasses and acacia trees, with a large, smooth rock that serves as her bed.
Ismael & Simon
• The two just kind of…click, you could say. Their personalities just gel really well and they quickly become good friends. They have an ongoing ‘snark-off’ of sorts that’s lasted since the day they met.
Ismael’s Half: Resembling the interior of his lamp, Ismael’s room is decorated with lavish gold furniture and brightly colored silk and rugs. He also has numerous treasures given to him as gifts by past finders.
Simon’s Half: Taken from his hideout back in Neverland, Simon sleeps in a large hammock with ample room between his built-in furniture so he can fly about easily. His work desk is a miniature version of Skull Rock.
Lacey & Lila
• Lacey was a bit surprised when told her roommate would arrive later in the year. But she met Lila…she hated her immediately. Her instincts turned out to be right, and she keeps an eye on the girl to see if she’s planning any trouble.
Lacey’s Half: Resembling the huts back in Pixie Hollow, Lacey’s half consists of furniture made of natural materials and found objects, as well as her workout equipment and tinkering supplies. One of the walls is a rock-climbing fixture. What? A fairy can have hobbies besides flying!
Lila’s Half: Designed to resemble a large and gaudy dressing room, Lila’s room is expensively furnished and aglow with light, complete with a full stage and boudoir. However, there are some dark alcoves that hide something she guards very carefully…

DIY Wood Drawer Wall Shelf
Project by Jessica Marquez:
In my small Brooklyn apartment the bathroom is really tiny and narrow. There’s zero storage or counter space, so I decided to create something to help with my storage problem — a modular shelving unit made from bamboo drawer organizers. The great thing about the drawer organizers is that they come in a variety of shapes and sizes that you can use for storing all kinds of objects in whatever way suits your space and needs. Imagine making your own for your kitchen to store and display spices and teas, or in your hallway to organize your keys, sunglasses, loose change and wallet.
I designed my own unit so that some of the drawer pieces are adhered together with wood glue, but a few are left freestanding, to rest upright on the shelves — in my bathroom we use cups for q-tips, cotton balls and our collection of essential oils that until now has been almost inaccessible in a storage box. I’ve also added small cup hooks to display a few of my favorite necklaces.
Now I walk into my bathroom and feel so proud looking at this custom shelving unit, and I just love the subtle pops of color and pattern with the addition of a painted stencil. There are so many ways to adapt this DIY to your small-space needs, and I would love to see what you come up with. —Jessica
SUPPLIES
Bamboo drawer organizers
Sandpaper
Wood glue
Sponge brush
Clamps
Stencil
Stencil adhesive spray
Multi-surface paint
Drill and screws
Level
1/2 inch cup hooks
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1
Play with composition. Use a variety of drawer organizer sizes and place them on the vertical and horizontal to find an arrangement that will work well for your space and needs. Try adding the objects you intend to store to make sure the arrangement works.
Step 2
Adhere pieces together. First, sand the areas that will be adhered together. Using wood glue and a sponge brush, lightly coat both sides of the wood with a thin layer of glue and clamp the pieces together. Wipe away any excess glue. Follow the directions for your glue and allow to fully dry. The smallest drawer organizers were left loose, so that I could easily remove the pieces to restock q-tips and cotton balls. While I waited for the glue to dry I added a bit of pattern to these pieces in the next step.
Step 3
Decorate with a stencil. There are a few tricks to getting a good impression with a stencil. First, use a stencil adhesive spray to keep your stencil in place as you work. Without the adhesive the stencil can easily slip and smudge. It’s lightweight and repositionable. Next, use a round sponge brush with a light touch. Dab the brush in paint and blot until there’s a light, even amount of paint. Lightly dab to apply the paint starting with a very light layer of paint and slowly build up the opacity. If the sponge brush has too much paint, the paint will bleed under the stencil. Stencil around the drawer organizer. Let dry.
Note: The exact stencil I used can be found in this book, Stencil 201 by Ed Roth; a similar one can be found here by Stencil1.
Step 4
Prep to hang. Once the glue is completely dry, drill holes large enough for the screws to fit through on each side of the shelving unit. I propped the shelves up on boxes and drilled straight down.
Step 5
Hang wall shelf. Place the wall shelf where you’d like to hang it. Use a level to make sure it’s straight and mark the holes that were drilled in the previous step. I used one wall anchor and the other screw lined up with a stud. Line up the wall shelf and drill or hand screw the screws in place.
Step 6
Make it yours! Display your essentials on your shelves, like cotton balls, q-tips, and oils. Add small cup hooks to display and organize jewelry. To install the cup hooks, drill a guide and hand-turn in place.

the united states government is going to give me a free lighthouse
i spend a lot of time there already, in the back of my head.
it's always gray outside--the sun is barely shining through the clouded ceiling that seperates humanity from heaven. the waves come up and kiss the shoreline of rocks, with a green expanse covering a hillside that i dreamt up.
there are cows. always cows. they never go anywhere either, they cycle in and out with old age and the newly born; to remind me that life is forever moving on. they live well out here and i will watch over them from my post. i will keep them safe.
the lighthouse stands tall over the rocky shore, where waves erode the rock slowly with each beating tide. the off white paint is slightly chipped; with a blue roof, and a light that is encased in glass window panels.
the door creaks open, and the stairs are narrow. it smells of salt and bares the creaking of vintage footsteps. i will never know who lived here before me. i can imagine his name was william, and he would manage the ships to safety with his light. i keep his hat that he left at the top of the stairs.
the circular room that holds me has a window to peer outside. my bed is generous and comfortable, i have a desk i write from and continue my studies at. i wish there. i do things that relax me and i forget that there is a way things are suppose to be. i forget my neighbors. i forget my family. i forget my friends. i forget the pressure. i forget my job. i forget my degree. i exist as myself in a steady hum. nobody remembers me. i am solitary within my lighthouse.
the room above mine has a kitchen. i cook for me. i make what i want. i hum my songs, i play my music and it never has to turn off because it's what i like and it's only me. it's only me. the bathroom smells like pine.
the room above that is the top. the circular glass gives a view of the grays and muted blues of the ocean that roll into the land like a continual beat of a heart. the light is dim, it does not direct ships anymore. it reminds me of myself. once purposeful. i turn it on when i need to remember something.
when i open a window, i stick my hand out into the world in order to feel the water spray against my skin and remind me i'm alive. i haven't talked to anyone in many years. i get letters, but i don't respond. i am beholden to this building--i only matter to the lighthouse.
i can imagine my final days are quiet and i am within my lighthouse. i write a letter about remembrance. i buckle beneath the weight of isolation and my heart gives way to gray air and life lived. i love you lighthouse. you symbolize independence, comfort, and isolation.
my lighthouse is my new keeper.

How To Choose The Right Shipping Container Modification?
Are you considering transforming a shipping container into something new and exciting? Whether you’re thinking about a cozy tiny home, a unique office space, or even a chic café, shipping container modifications can turn your vision into reality.
But how do you choose the right modification for your needs? Let’s dive into the essentials to help you make the best decision!
Understand Your Needs
The first step in choosing the right shipping container modifications is clearly defining your needs.
Are you looking for additional storage, a workspace, or a mobile retail unit? Your specific requirements will guide you in selecting the most appropriate modifications.
Tip: Make a list of what you want the container to achieve. If you need a comfortable living space, consider insulation, ventilation, and plumbing.
Consider the Container’s Size
Shipping containers come in various sizes, typically 10, 20, or 40 feet long. The size of your container will greatly influence the type and extent of modifications you can make.
10-foot containers are perfect for small offices or storage units.
20-foot containers offer more space and can be transformed into small homes or retail spaces.
40-foot containers provide ample room for larger projects, such as workshops or multi-room offices.
Tip: Ensure your planned modifications are feasible within the chosen container size.
Plan for Structural Integrity
One crucial aspect of shipping container modifications is maintaining the container's structural integrity.
Depending on the modifications, you may need to reinforce certain areas or add support. For instance, cutting out large sections for windows or doors may require additional framing to ensure stability.
Tip: Consult with a professional to assess the structural needs of your container before proceeding with extensive modifications.
Focus on Insulation and Ventilation
Insulation and ventilation are key factors if you’re turning your shipping container into a living or working space.
Containers can become hot or cold depending on the weather, so proper insulation will help maintain a comfortable environment.
Insulation: Spray foam or fibreglass insulation can regulate temperature and improve energy efficiency.
Ventilation: Adding vents or windows will ensure adequate airflow and prevent condensation issues.
Tip: Consider the climate in your area when choosing insulation materials and ventilation solutions.
Think About Utilities
Depending on your intended use, you might need to add utilities such as electricity, water, and sewage systems. This can involve:
Electrical Wiring: Installing outlets, lighting, and power systems.
Plumbing: Set up water lines and drainage if your container has a bathroom or kitchen.
Heating and Cooling: Adding HVAC systems to regulate temperature.
Tip: Plan the layout of utilities to ensure everything is installed efficiently and meets your local building codes.
Design and Aesthetics
Finally, consider the design and aesthetics of your modified shipping container. The exterior and interior design will reflect your style, whether you aim for a sleek, modern look or a rustic charm.
Exterior: Paint, cladding, or even green walls can enhance the container’s appearance.
Interior: Choose finishes, flooring, and furnishings that match your vision.
Tip: Work with a designer or architect if you’re unsure how to achieve your desired look or need help planning the layout.
Conclusion
Choosing the right shipping container modifications involves understanding your needs, selecting the appropriate size, ensuring structural integrity, focusing on insulation and ventilation, planning for utilities, and considering design elements.
With careful planning and the right modifications, your shipping container can become a functional and stylish space that perfectly meets your needs. Ready to start your shipping container journey? With these tips, you’ll be well on your way to creating a space just right for you!

Liberals Make Emotional Appeal to Citizens; PLP Set to Win Upcoming Elections Amidst Liberal-Conservative Conflict
30 October 1950
The offensive during the election ceasefire period that has cornered the Liberal Cabinet in Puerto Carreno, now being referred to by many as the September Massacre, still sees the Liberals fiercely defending their capital against the gradually growing Colombian Army. Despite having the first shot during ceasefire periods, and going on to violate various rules-of-engagement in a desperate bid to surprise the Liberals, the Conservatives have denied all allegations launched against them in their recently televised speech. In fact, graffiti of the word “MURDERERS” was spray painted across the Conservative headquarters in Medellin by unknown activists.
Almost shockingly, the Liberals also announced intentions to air a speech live as well, appealing to citizens of Colombia and responding to the latest situation. Represented by Felipe Antonio Lopez, he made a heartfelt speech declaring the Liberals unwavering dedication to the citizens even on the brink of defeat. Below is a short excerpt of the speech:
“Do not lose your faith in the Liberal party, we are doing our very best to help you. We are doing our best to ensure that you have access to good food and livelihood despite the recent conflict with the conservatives. They are the one who have breached your ceasefire and attacked and destroyed your homes in the recently otherwise peaceful cities of Meta and Vaupes. Despite our upcoming elections, they have failed to adhere to the ceasefire, causing great damage and grief among the people and the families of Colombia.”
While shedding tears as he described the debauchery of the September Massacre, Lopez made a desperate bid to the citizens of Colombia, calling for them to remain supportive of the Liberal party as they take their last stand. This emotional speech has received massive support from many Colombians, and citizens throughout have had a public outcry regarding this issue. In addition, reports of soldiers blindly firing into unarmed crowds, running over retreating Liberal militiamen with vehicles and sexually assaulting civilians have shocked the entirety of Colombia to the barbaric nature of the Conservative party. Thus, civil unrest has begun to rise in the newly-freed/invaded/occupied regions, and even in traditionally pro-Conservative Western departments, and many protests, though currently mostly non-violent, have called for the persecution of the Conservative generals for ordering the September Massacre during ceasefire periods.
In a recent UN statement, the United States condemned the Conservative faction for their “attack on democracy” and “senseless slaughter of citizens”. Meanwhile, the Soviet Union adopted a more neutralist approach, only calling for an “end to the decades of conflict”. Regardless, the UN has raised some intentions to provide humanitarian aid, though nothing has been directly introduced yet.
Tentatively, the defense of Puerto Carreno looks to be the greatest priority for the Liberal Cabinet, whilst the Conservatives rapidly lose their legitimacy as the PLP begins to fill in their positions in abandoned departments.
The defense of Puerto Carreno sees lines of defenses being held up by Liberals. Green marks the camps of Conservative troops nearest to the city, blue marks the defense lines of the Liberals. The red cross marks a military encampment by the Liberals, while the green cross marks the Liberal headquarters, where the LAM are currently located at.
Meanwhile, election polls currently see the populist People’s Liberation Party winning by a massive lead. The PLP have recently established soup kitchens for refugees and the starving alike in Northern departments, providing free food for many. In addition, they have begun training smaller security divisions in the largely forgotten port capitals, such as Barranquilla and Santa Marta. These security divisions have taken to restoring law and order, arresting many criminals and helping rebuild damaged infrastructure. As there happened to be an internal disagreement between many police administrations in different departments, leaving them extremely disorganized, the presence of peacekeepers provided by the PLP was welcomed wholeheartedly by the citizens. Preliminary polls have shown the PLP with 70%, while the CLP-CNP alliance holds 25% and the PCC the remaining 5%. Northern Colombian departments, mostly held as industrial areas, now flock to support the PLP. In addition, the wealthier Southern departments see many landowners also supporting the PLP following the destruction caused by the Conservatives. At this current rate, it appears that the PLP would be primed to win the upcoming elections by a majority, and potentially even a supermajority, providing great threat to the future stability of the CLP-CNP alliance and the PCC.
Zones marked in green are those with a PLP majority support, zones marked in red are those with Liberal-Nationalist Alliance majority support, zone marked in blue is that which supports the Conservatives.

Simple-To-Follow Rainy Season Monsoon Home Maintenance Advice
Throughout the monsoon season, upkeep is necessary to prevent any damage and provide a comfortable living area. The following advice will help you get through the rainy season more easily.
Avoid slippery floors at any cost
The disagreeable aspects of the rainy season are the wet, slippery floors around the house, and humidity. There will be a ton of shoes, boots, wet coats, wet umbrellas, and other items in the front or foyer. Since the entryway is the wettest area during the monsoon, it is important to maintain it dry and fresh throughout the day by removing any potentially hazardous slippery flooring. To keep all of your shoes dry and dirt-free, you can purchase multipurpose shoe racks and cabinets. If there are any other wet locations close to indoor/outdoor spaces, such as the pool and restroom area, try using bamboo and acrylic mats instead of thick carpets.
Check the leakages, cracks, and damp patches
Fixing leaks and wall fractures should not be put off until the monsoon season. To save your living room furniture from degrading and to avoid paying expensive repair bills during the wet season, exercise caution and promptly fix any damp patches on your ceiling. Make sure your home is properly inspected for any necessary repairs, and make sure it is leak-proof by adhering to basic guidelines such as coating the exterior with water-resistant paint and performing routine maintenance and repairs on time.
Wooden Furniture: Monsoon Care And Protection Tips
The most prevalent trends in modern house interior design include wooden wall accents, furniture, and flooring. Though wood is prone to moisture, these design features give your room a cosy, welcoming appearance. It may create disaster on the inside decor of your house when it swells up in damp air.
Before the monsoon season arrives, varnish the wooden doors. By doing this, a barrier will form, preventing them from absorbing moisture.
Vacuum your wooden floors frequently and keep them dry.
For further flooring protection, choose wax varnishes.
In addition to giving hardwood furniture and accents a fresh appearance and added gloss, polishing or lacquering them also serves as an effective moisture barrier.
Keeping Your Kitchen Pantry Clean And Organised
Particularly during the rainy season, a dirty kitchen serves as a haven for insects and other insects. Consequently, in order to keep pests and germs out of your house, it's critical to devise a method for routinely cleaning your kitchen.
Maintain unclogged drains and clean your sink after every meal.
We recommend an aluminium modular kitchen if you're thinking about remodelling your kitchen. This material is incredibly easy to clean and water-resistant, unlike wood.
Make sure there are no food remains on your kitchen counter and store all of your goods in sealed containers.
For protection against pests like cockroaches, use a natural disinfectant spray.
Protecting Your Balcony From Rainwater
Is your home office setting, smart bar unit, or cosy seating area on the balcony one of your favourite places to be? If the response is in the affirmative, you will undoubtedly find the monsoon to be a terrible time of year.
Ensure that the furniture is constructed of weather- and water-resistant materials, and that the wall paint is outdoor quality.
If you've planned a balcony with floor tiles, make sure you select ones that won't slide.
Put in a glass shutter along the wall of the balcony. When you feel like it, you can open them to let in some fresh air and close them to shield the inside from moisture.
Avoid Unwanted Damage To Your Bookshelves
If you are a bookworm with a sizable library, safeguarding your bookshelves during the monsoon season should be your top concern. Your priceless books may sustain severe damage if pages become wet or collect moisture. Moisture can do permanent harm to them.
A fantastic option to shield your books from moisture and odours is to use book moisture absorbers or naphthalene balls.
Remember to let your books air out or leave them outside in the sun for a while after the monsoon.
If you have a wooden bookshelf, don't forget to polish or apply a layer of varnish before the rain comes.
You can create a house that truly captures your individual style and personality in addition to being elegant and useful. Before beginning your next home design project, consider employing Specula—The Best Interior & Exterior Designers In Kerala—to make things easy.

Sustainable Kitchen Solutions for Eco-Friendly Hotels
As environmental awareness grows, more hotels are seeking ways to reduce their ecological footprint. Implementing sustainable kitchen solutions is an effective strategy to promote eco-friendly practices and appeal to environmentally conscious guests. Here’s a comprehensive guide to sustainable kitchen solutions for eco-friendly hotels.
1. Energy-Efficient Appliances
High-Efficiency Ovens and Stoves
Choose appliances with the Energy Star rating to ensure they meet energy efficiency guidelines.
Refrigeration Solutions
Opt for refrigerators that use natural refrigerants like R-290 (propane), which have a lower global warming potential. Implement systems that monitor and optimize energy use in refrigeration units.
Dishwashers
Select models that use less water per cycle and have high-efficiency ratings.
2. Water Conservation Techniques
Low-Flow Fixtures
Install aerators on kitchen faucets to reduce water flow without compromising performance. Use low-flow pre-rinse spray valves to save water and energy during dishwashing.
Water Recycling Systems
Implement systems to recycle greywater from sinks and dishwashers for use in irrigation or flushing toilets. Install on-demand or tankless water heaters to reduce energy waste from continuously heating stored water.
3. Sustainable Food Practices
Local and Organic Sourcing
Source ingredients from local farms to reduce transportation emissions and support local economies. Choose organic fruits, vegetables, and meats to minimize the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers.
Seasonal Menus
Reduce Carbon Footprint, design menus around seasonal produce to reduce the need for long-distance transportation and storage.
Plant-Based Options
Eco-Friendly Diets offers a variety of plant-based dishes to reduce the environmental impact associated with meat production.
4. Waste Reduction Strategies
Composting Programs
Set up composting stations for kitchen scraps and food waste, turning it into nutrient-rich soil for gardening. Partner with local farms or community gardens to donate compost.
Reusable Containers
Replace disposable containers and utensils with reusable options made from sustainable materials. Use glass jars and stainless steel containers for storage and serving.
Food Waste Management
Implement strict inventory control to minimize over-purchasing and spoilage. Partner with local charities to donate excess food to those in need.
5. Green Cleaning Practices
Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products
Use biodegradable, non-toxic cleaning products to reduce chemical runoff and indoor air pollution. Choose products certified by eco-labels like Green Seal or EcoLogo.
Efficient Cleaning Techniques
Use microfiber cloths instead of paper towels to reduce waste and enhance cleaning efficiency. Implement steam cleaning for surfaces and equipment to minimize the use of chemical cleaners.
6. Sustainable Kitchen Design
Green Building Materials
Use recycled or reclaimed wood, metal, and glass in kitchen construction and decor. Choose low-VOC (volatile organic compound) paints and finishes to improve indoor air quality.
Energy-Efficient Lighting
Replace incandescent bulbs with LED lighting to reduce energy consumption and extend bulb life. Install smart lighting systems with motion sensors and timers to ensure lights are only on when needed.
Conclusion
Implementing sustainable kitchen solutions is essential for eco-friendly hotels aiming to reduce their environmental impact and appeal to green-conscious guests. By investing in energy-efficient appliances, conserving water, adopting sustainable food practices, reducing waste, utilizing green cleaning methods, designing eco-friendly kitchens, and engaging employees in sustainability initiatives, hotels can create a luxurious yet environmentally responsible experience for their guests. These efforts not only benefit the environment but also enhance the hotel's reputation and can lead to cost savings in the long run.
