Assuming he isn't straight up lying, surely Bergy's retirement was on the horizon for a while? Like ultimately Bergy took the extension but 21/22 was the last year of his full contract and did the possibility that he may retire in a couple of years never came up? Who did Marchy think would be the captain next, if not him? Was he (were both of them?) straight up in denial / living in the moment, not thinking at all about life after Bergy? I have so many questions.

But all these rumors about Sidney Crosby wanting to jump ship after this season and not resign with Pittsburgh is beyond bullshit.

Sidney started his career here in 2005. Since then, he’s won three Stanley Cups, broken numerous records, made numerous playoff appearances. How many other players are able to say they could do that while being on one team? Yeah, we had our playoff appearance streak end after 16 (or 17 I forget) consecutive years, but to me that’s okay because of the playoff series we’ve been in (and won) since then. I don’t know Sidney Crosby personally, but based off of what I have read about him, he’s not the type of person to leave when it gets hard or when he goes downhill.

Could I be wrong? Absolutely. But I’m praying I’m not wrong, and I don’t think I am. I think Sidney Crosby isn’t going to leave just because it’s getting hard.
