Time-skip Haikyu boys and their love language
Tw: suggestive, implied sex below the cut.
---------------------------------------------------
Kuroo: Physical Touch
• When you first met, it was clear he had taken an intrest in you.
Subtle touches on your arm or wrist when you passed him, grabbing your hips to move you when you were in front of something he needed, etc.
• You two work for a sports promotion division (yes I looked it up), so every time you get to your desk, there's coffee waiting for you. You know exactly who put it there.
•When he got his shit together and confessed to you, he kissed you. Unexpected turn of events. Okay, maybe not that unexpected considering his prior boldness.
• He loves tying up your hair for you. You know where i'm going with that? Okay.
Look, I know people deny that he's a freak in the sheets, but looking like that? I beg to differ.
• Speaking of begging, he has this obsession with you saying 'please, can you do this' or 'please help me with that.' Just 'please' gets him off tbh.
• Will walk into you when you're picking something off the floor, bent over, and then claim it was an accident and that he didn't see you.
---------------------------------------------------
Tsukishima: Physical Touch
• I know that's kind of controversial, but hear me out.
• Honestly, under that nonchalant attitude is a STARVING man.
•When you first met, he treats you like any other he'd come across. But over time, he finds himself more attracted to you.
Is it the way your legs looked in those jeans? Okay, okay, maybe a little bit.
•So, when you get closer, he finds his hand resting on your thigh, your lower back or your hand. Like a subconscious attraction that he isn't really aware of.
• You were sitting together and you were reading an article written about his last game to him. His gaze constantly fell to your lips. He was listening of course! But it's just the way your lips moved when you talked..
• He couldn't really resist, so of course he kissed you. Not a normal peck, no. Hungry. Like he hadn't eaten in centuries.
---------------------------------------------------
Akaashi: Words of affirmation
• When you first met you noticed how gentle he was with Bokuto. And apparently, so did many others.. but that didn't matter, for Akaashi's eyes were on you.
• You both work for Weekly Shonen Vai (Again, yes I did look that up), so when he sees you working, he lays a hand on your shoulder.
"You're doing so well, Darling. Keep it up."
We love motivation for the next couple of hours, don't we.
• He's always there to reassure you that everything is just fine.
Worried about your works due date? Don't worry, he'll help you out.
Scared you don't look good in that new dress you bought that he loves so much? He'll make sure you're never insecure again.
• Praise, Praise, Praise, I'm telling you.
"You're doing so good for me, baby"
"You're so pretty, just for me, hm?"
"You always know just how I like it, don't you?"
• Worships your entire existence. You don't have to tell him you're his, he knows. But he'll make sure you know he's yours.
---------------------------------------------------
Daichi: Acts of Service
• The first time you met was when the cops were called, because the shop owner accused you of shoplifting. Daichi went through your bag and patted you down. When he found nothing, the owner had to apologize and Daichi felt guilty for wasting such a pretty lady's time.
So he asked you to go to dinner with him.
That's right, he takes you out to dinner first.
• By the time you were done eating- Wait let me rephrase.
By the time he paid the bill (like a gentleman should) and got back to his car, he was craving dessert. Luckily, he had just the place in mind. His place.
• Eats you out like it's his last meal. I mean, he's a cop. He's got to serve the citizens, right?
• He gets out of bed before you wake up, on his day off, so he can get you your morning coffee.
• Puts his hand on the pointy side of the table, when you bend down to pick something off the floor.
I know this is a different of what I usually post, and I apologize for disappearing for so long😥
Thank you for reading!!

Francis Mosses headcanons
Tumblr media
sfw, nsfw mentioned ¬> MDNI
neutral!reader, it's really sweet, the tired guy, from the game "That's not my neighbor", MILKMAN
Artist from the fanart : @__kozuu on X(Twitter)
Tumblr media
Looks
His hands + fingers are long and slim, a little bit brighter skin tone than his usual skin (yk cus cold)
His knuckles are a bit raw, just a little bit
Has cold hands definitely
Height between 5'10 and 6'2
Definitely is slim, but a little defined six pack
Not that wide shoulders, more like average
Had Scoliosis as a kid
A bit longer arms
Always looks kind of pale because he's tired all the time
Has defined cheekbones and jawline
clothes & jewelry
Mostly wears straight black jeans or trousers
He has black cardigans
He literally doesn't know any other color to wear except white, black, Grey and grey-blue
He needs clothing education from you
Only has a slim silver ring on his right middle finger as jewlery
But also wears a watch with him, just not on his wrist but in the pocket of his jeans
Anything pt. 1
Definitely listens to true crime podcasts (how ironic haha)
But when music is on his ears, it's mostly Falco, Joy Division, Taco and The Police
Still kind of Lana del Rey coded
I'd say he has a big brother who had asked him for money several times, but Francis got tired of it
Regrets his job, or at least wants to change his occupation
If he reads he has extra glasses for it, otherwise his eyes will burn
Reads mostly magazines about architecture and daily news
He definitely is a person that reads the newspapers
Physical activity
Challenge him to a fight and he'd win easily because even though he's slim, he surely has strength in his legs and arms
Flexible as hell
Can play basketball, but you need to build up endurance with him
Took some surfboard lessons in the past, but never surely can ride a wave in perfection
Today he mostly is busy with his job and chores, that he doesn't do any sports anymore
Appartment
Messy, his appartment is quite dirty, but still okay to look at
But definetly don't go into the kitchen
He only washes the dishes once in a week
Please show this man some color, his appartment is only decorated with white and black things
The plants he has are dried out, even the cacti
But Francis's bathroom is really clean
Like really clean
If you would enter the bathroom with shoes, he'd literally throw you out
He only once all 3 months has the urge to really clean his appartment
relationships
Had gone through a divorce in his mid 20's
Since then he never really trusted anyone, except you
You finally showed him how acception feels
He's grateful to have you
And he shows it by gift giving and acts of service
Since you are there, he finally tries to get his life together
Don't expect to get many words of affirmation, because you know he's an introvert
He loves to listen to you
He'd lean on the palm of his hand with his head and slightly smiles as he listens to you yapping
Then out of nowhere, he'd say how much he loves you
When you both go to sleep, he is on the side of the wall, with his back on it
He'd gently wrap his arms around you from behind, that you back is on his stomach
It's beautiful to sleep like that, when you're the little spoon
Often kisses your hand and scalp, everytime when he greets you
His hand would look so beautiful on your forearm, covering it almost fully
Nsfw ¬> MDNI
You know what those fingers could do..
And not only his fingers
Gentle Dom and Switch
Loves to see you over him as you sit down on his dick, his slim arms holding onto you as he sits on the edge of the bed
He's a hickey guy, but not like an owner thing, he doesn't really like to 'own' you, you are an individual and he loves how independent you are
He definitely loves when his eyes are covered with a blindfold when you take charge
he would also be the type who would start to whimper slightly when you put your hand over his mouth, when he's close to releasing
And when you do, god he comes so much
He's not really someone noisy, but he knows that you like it, so you hear his heavy breaths all the time and sometimes little grunts, and as mentioned the little whimpers
You always have your hands intertwined, he just loves to press your hands
It's also a safe-word thing between you two
accidently called you "mommy" one time
Mostly would say pet names like "honey", "my little one", "darling"
When you press his hand three times fast in a row, he knows to slow down or stop if you want it
It's really important for him to know you're alright
Would try out anything you want to try out with him and he'd be honest with you when he likes it or not
Is proud of you when you take his length all in you
He mostly would fuck you in the appartment, mostly on the couch or bed
But if the kitchen is clean, then definitely there, 100%
Would say things like: "I know you like that", "show me a little more honey", "you are so beautiful", "take it a bit more", "I'll be so good to you"
Anything pt. 2
Doesn't really drink Limonade or any other drink like that
Just give him water and he'll be fine
But istg don't give him milk, he'd freak out because he can't see it anymore
He'd fall asleep first when you wanna watch a series with him, you know why
Francis finally looks relaxed when he falls asleep next to you, his head leaning onto your shoulder or head
You have so many pictures of him sleeping
Francis always buys groceries when they're reduced
Drank too much energy drinks that they don't even help him anymore
When you once gave him a rose, he literally couldn't keep it together and you bet you saw a little tear in his eyes
He immediately wrapped his arms around you and didn't let you go for 10 minutes
He is just so happy to have you
And you are happy to be someone so special to him, that he got a picture from you next to his bed

Republicans introduce a 7th anti-furry bill and work to undermine student freedoms on a wider scale
(This blog post was written by Orion Scribner and N. Noel Sol, originally posted on February 18, 2024 to the Otherkin News Dreamwidth, at this link.)
Content warnings: Rated G. An urban legend that describes an unsanitary situation. Sexism against transgender people, including attempts to prevent them from participating in sports and using facilities like everyone else, and attempts to stop them from transitioning.
Summary: In 2023, Republicans began to propose laws (bills) in the US that would be against people who identify as animals. They base these on an urban legend that says schools provide litter boxes for students who identify as animals. Republicans made up that legend in parody of transgender students asking to use school restrooms (Scribner and Sol, 2024). The newest of these bills is Missouri House Bill 3678 (MO HB 2678). It’s the third such bill in 2024, bringing the historic total of these bills up to seven. This bill was written as part of a Republican effort to undermine public schools (which can’t ban transgender students from using the right restrooms, and students have First Amendment rights) in favor of religious charter schools (where students aren’t protected in those ways). The following blog post is a seven minute read.
What the Missouri bill says
Missouri House Bill 3678 (MO HB 2678) has the title “Prohibits students from engaging in ‘furry’ behavior while at school.” You can read this bill and see the latest actions on its official site, the Missouri House of Representatives, or on a third-party legislation tracking site, LegiScan. This bill was introduced this week, on February 13th, and read a second time on the 14th. It would add a law into the Revised Statutes of Missouri (RSMo). It would go in the part of the state laws about education, in Chapter 167, titled “Pupils and Special Services.” It would say:
“A student who purports to be an imaginary animal or animal species or who engages in anthropomorphic behavior consistent with the common designation of a ‘furry’ while at school shall not be allowed to participate in school curriculum or activities. The parent or guardian of a student in violation of this section shall remove the student from the school for the remainder of the school day.”
The same as the other bills like it, this bill is based on an urban legend, not on anything that was done in real life by students, furries, and/or people who identify as animals (McKinney, 2022a). This bill's wording looks like it was based on a bill from another state, Oklahoma House Bill 3084 (OK HB 3084), or its predecessor last year, Oklahoma Senate Bill 943 (OK SB 943). It shares their inaccuracies: though there are real people who identify as animals, surveys show that most furries don’t, and the dictionary definition of the word “anthropomorphic” means resembling a human, not resembling an animal (Scribner and Sol, 2024).
Who wrote the bill, and what is its context with that author’s other motivations?
The Missouri bill’s only sponsor (writer) is Cheri Toalson Reisch (she/her). She is a Missouri Republican who has supported anti-transgender bills in the past. One of those is MO SB 39, which would ban transgender students from participating in their gender’s sports division (both in private and public schools, up to and including in colleges and universities). Another one is MO SB 49. It would bar minors from accessing gender transition related surgeries or medications, removes adult coverage of hormone replacement therapy and any gender-affirming or transitioning surgeries from the Missouri Medicaid program, and denies prisoners and inmates access to any surgeries related to gender transitioning. She described both these bills as a “great move in the right direction,” and has been vocally critical that they were not harsher (Central MO Info, 2023).
Reisch is familiar with the urban legend started by conservatives of students using litter boxes in school bathrooms. She has posted about it on Facebook, telling her constituents that it is actively happening in Missouri and accusing the Columbia school district of taking part in it, stating “This is happening in Columbia Public Schools also. Yes, the janitor has to clean the litter box” (McKinney, 2022a). That's never happened. Schools say they have not been providing litter boxes to students in this way, and even deny that they have had any students identifying or behaving as animals, according to reliable fact checking resources (Reuters, 2022; Palma, Snopes, 2023).
Reisch has a history of being especially critical of the Columbia school district, which is one of the largest and most successful school districts in the state (McKinney, 2022b). She’s used this urban legend to attack the district’s legitimacy. This may be because Reisch prioritizes independently-run charter schools over standard public schools. Earlier this year, she sponsored MO HB 1941, which would allow for charter schools to operate within the Columbia school district without the district’s sponsorship.
Why are Republicans criticizing public schools and favoring charter schools?
In the US, the normal types of schools for children up to about age 18 are called public schools. Families don’t have to pay for their children to attend them. They represent the ideal that everyone growing up in the country should have equal access to school, regardless of income, class, race, religion, or ability. Because public schools are government establishments, the US Constitution protects the students’ rights there. The First Amendment of the Constitution protects the freedom of speech and religion of everyone, and that’s for students in public schools, too. In the landmark 1969 case Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School District, students sued because they had gotten suspended for wearing black armbands to protest the Vietnam War. The Supreme Court decided that it would be as tyrannical to prevent students from expressing political opinions within public schools as it would be in any other government establishments. The Court said students don’t “shed their constitutional rights to freedom of speech or expression at the schoolhouse gate.” In 1948, McCollum v. Board of Education had decided that public schools can’t give religious instruction during the school day. In 1962, Engel v. Vitale decided they can’t make students pray (Pew Research Center, 2019). Public school dress codes often aren’t as fair as they should be, but for the most part, their students can wear what they want and what their parents allow.
In contrast, what are known as charter schools in the US are privately owned, so they’re allowed to have requirements or education goals which would be considered a violation of the First Amendment. Some of them have religious affiliations and may be owned or operated by religious organizations. This can affect the way the school is run. For example, Oklahoma charter St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School has planned Catholic religious instruction classes, and the school’s active and intentional participation in what it refers to as “the evangelizing mission of the Church” (Fitzpatrick, 2023). Charter school dress codes can be much more strict. They are often segregated by gender stereotypes, forcing girls to wear skirts and boys trousers, no exceptions. This has been challenged in some places against specific schools, such as in North Carolina earlier this year in a lawsuit against the Charter Day School Inc (Chung, 2023). These challenges are the outlier and not the norm, however; gender-segregated dress codes are still a very common practice for charter schools overall. Charter schools also require applications and choose students based on random lottery systems. However, studies find that charter schools are more likely to ignore parents inquiring about the enrollment process if the student has a disability or other special needs (Darville, 2018). Unlike public schools, they don’t welcome everyone.
The freedom of expression in public schools is important for transgender students. In 2020, the case G.G. v. Gloucester County School Board decided in favor of transgender-friendly restroom policies in high schools. This precedent helps protect transgender students’ rights in public schools, but doesn’t apply to charter schools. During the course of the case, the Conservative Legal Defense and Education Fund told the Court why to decide against transgender rights. In an effort to invalidate transgender people, the Fund compared transgender people to otherkin. The Fund used the word “otherkin,” and described them at length, mostly accurately but derisively (Brief Amicus Curiae, 2017, G.G. v. Gloucester Cty Sch Bd). This case was part of what inspired the Republicans to later make up the litter box urban legend. We don’t know if that particular brief inspired the legend too.
Republicans may be promoting charter schools because this would give them greater control over impressing their views about gender, religion, and politics on young generations. They may be undermining public schools because the separation of church and state limits their power to do so there. The urban legend and these bills are part of that.
Background about all of the furry bills and the urban legend that inspired them
To learn about this year’s first two anti-furry bills, read our post about them from last week (Scribner and Sol, 2024). That post also summarizes the four anti-furry bills last year, and the litter box urban legend. For further information about those aspects, you can watch our lecture about last year’s bills and what you do about bad bills (Chimeras, Scribner, and Shepard, 2023), and watch Chimeras’s lecture about the litter box urban legend (Chimeras, 2022).
What happens next with Reisch’s anti-furry bill?
The bill is at 25% progression toward becoming a law. The House heard the bill twice, but it hasn’t been voted on. At the time that we write this blog post, they haven’t scheduled the bill’s next hearing.
About the writers of this blog post

"I stand here not as Prince Harry, Pat Tillman award recipient, but rather a voice on behalf of the Invictus Games Foundation and the thousands of veterans and service personnel from over the 20 nations who have made the Invictus Games a reality. This award belongs to them, not to me." That said, it's of great importance to me to highlight these allies, athletes and their amazing families for their achievements, their spirit and their courage at every opportunity. Especially on nights like this in front of people like you.
Moments like these help us reach those that need Invictus most and reduce more than 20 veterans a day taking their own lives in this country alone.
We're celebrating ten years of witnessing life changing impact and healing through sport. While so much progress has been made since those first games, the world outside seems to be in an even more precarious state. We live in an age marked by polarization and division. Conflicts rage around the globe, anger and resentment towards those who are different seem to pervade societies everywhere.
Our community challenges that. Our community proves that unity is not just possible, but formidable. The beauty of the Invictus Games lies in how it brings people together. No matter one's nationality, background or personal struggles. It is a collective built from courage and mutual respect, where athletes discover time and time again the common denominator of their humanity.

Leah Goldstein seemed like a natural fit to be the keynote speaker at an International Women’s Day event in Ontario, Canada, next month. A Canadian cyclist, she made history as the first woman to win a grueling 3,000-mile bike race across the United States. But in January, five months after accepting the invitation, Goldstein was told she was no longer invited to speak. The cause, the event organizers said, was “a small but growing and extremely vocal group” that took issue with Goldstein’s service three decades ago in the Israeli army. “Our focus at INSPIRE has been and will always be to create safe spaces to honour, share, and celebrate the remarkable stories of women and non-binary individuals,” the women’s empowerment group said in a statement. “In recognition of the current situation and the sensitivity of the conflict in the Middle East, the Board of INSPIRE will be changing our keynote speaker.” The revoked invitation comes amid widespread turmoil over the Israel-Hamas war, including in local communities far from the Middle East. Goldstein, 54, was born in Vancouver to Israeli parents and lived in Israel as a child and served in its military, as is required for most citizens. She first broke onto the international sports scene as a kickboxer, winning the 1989 World Bantamweight Kickboxing Championship. As a cyclist, Goldstein overcame a potentially career-ending crash in 2005 and shifted to ultra-endurance racing. In 2011, she won the women’s solo category in the Race Across America. She finished second in the women’s group and fifth overall in 2019, and in 2021 made history by winning the overall solo division. Goldstein completed the 3,000-mile race in 11 days, three hours and three minutes. Goldstein told JTA that she had planned to stick with her usual message for the March 8 event. “I am zero political when I speak,” she said by phone from her home in Vernon, British Columbia. “Honestly, there is nothing political about my presentation. I just talk about the crap that I went through and the crap that most women go through, and they still do, and how I handled it.”

I would be interested in a post about their management! I find that stuff interesting but I don’t know much about it
hi!!! firstly sorry it's taken me so long to get to this! 😭 also going to put this under the cut bc it got long lol :3 also this is more about their talent agents, idk if they have a dedicated manager doing what marianne used to do or if her job is now spread between different ppl/agencies
okay, so currently dan, phil, and danandphil are signed with InterTalent which is a talent agency. (dan is also signed w/ united talent agency, im assuming he's signed to two agencies bc UTA based in the US and intertalent is based in the UK? but his contact email on his yt channel goes to intertalent.)
dan's under the comedy division of intertalent which you can see on their website:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
bc he's under comedy he's represented by hannah layton who is head of the comedy division. but if you go to her profile, she's assisted by someone named izzy whitaker, so I wouldn't be surprised if she's also worked with dan. and then as you can see on dan's profile his events are handled by olivia bertolotti. so already with just dan there's three ppl dealing with his stuff 😂
phil is signed under the digital creators division:
Tumblr media
he's represented by meisha kelly, who according to the website is the head of the sports division so lmao 💀 she only has one other digital creator client besides phil. and then his events are handled by the same person as dan (she's head of events so im assuming she handles a lot of people's events?)
dan and phil together, as dapg, are also signed, under the gaming division:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so dapg is represented by a different person (toby dobson) than dan and phil because they're in the gaming division. also side note im cracking up at the cat pic being the photo of choice for dapg?? 💀
so basically there's just a lot going on since all three d&p entities are in different divisions and therefore have different agents representing them
so on top of all that, there's audiencly which is an "influencer marketing agency," from what I can tell from their website they essentially just hook up content creators with brands for brand deals. they also do influencer management. dan and phil (again, as dapg) are listed as one of their "exclusive creators" so I'm assuming that their services don't overlap w/ intertalent much at all, but regardless they are also signed with audiencly. (also in case anyone is curious, they're listed under "variety" (not gaming))
Tumblr media Tumblr media
from what I can see there isn't an extensive list of brands that work with them, so I don't know if all of dan and phil's spons are through them or just some of them. but from their case study page we at least know that socialpoint (aka dragon city) and nordvpn work with them. we also know that evony (the knight game) works with them because the giveaway info is hosted on audiencly's website (this is actually how I found out about audiencly lmao 😭)
also if you care, their business managers/accounts are dales evans & co which you can find from their company information lol. they also do tour financial management which is im assuming why d&p chose them!!
so yeah that's pretty much it, or at least everything I know! :) also bc TIT is happening rn you also have AEG thrown in the mix, which is the tour producer/promoter (but obviously that won't last past the tour)

northern winter uniform of GA soldiers, explanation on the history behind it under ->
21-06-23 edit:
Tumblr media
Since GA is the first and last war altuyur had, well maanuls and kyhuines didn't know how to even battle properly. Many things related to that age have a sort of clumsy beginning, and so do uniforms. Firstly they used modified versions of the decorative armor that were originally used in theatrical plays, religious performances, and even sports. The modified versions had fewer metal pieces, and no decorations, but were completely inconvenient as they were not thought out for battle. Combined with the crazy temperature recorded in the battlegrounds (mostly in the southern desert) armors were just terrible! a literal oven. So quickly they abandoned the armor to just tissue, but uniforms stand out so much from how their clothing normally looks that looking back at them, it just feels alien to them. lifeless even. an example of an early armored uniform can be found here.
Now back to the northern uniform, when a small part of the north joined the red troupes by believing in their aggressive propaganda campaigns. They then had to make special uniforms for the recruits and soldiers, as in the north there are seasons when the temperatures get quite low. Much like what you have in western/central Europe, which makes the far north of altuyur stand out as the rest is hot with only 2 distinct seasons.
When making the northern winter uniforms they based it on already existing pieces of clothing (in this case basic northern winter hunting clothes with some pieces taken from dancing garments), but striping them off from any decoration, simplifying them to the bare minimum. Moving the ventilation holes to the side of the torso to protect the opperculums more, tho it makes them quite uncomfortable but recruits and soldiers just get used to it. The most "unique" thing about the uniforms is the patch on the arm with the person's name, and yet that piece is easily rippable, in case the owner dies so they can just rip it off and recycle it for new naive recruits that aren't even aware someone died in these clothes before.
They lack any creativity to them, for maanuls as well as a kyhuine these are soulless, as they highly value the art of crafting. There's no passion, no real purpose but a nonsensical war in these uniforms. Nothing to make them truly worthy in their culture. These are just morbid for them to look at during the silver age.
The maanul featured in this drawing is Qua'tuli, which easily translates to "one'whisker". He's a northeast maanul which explains his dark pelt, he has a singular whisker with a mole and is born without tahofahs which is a birth defect and also means he can't smell anything. Like many young influenceable people, he was tricked to join the red troupes thinking it would make him a hero for his people forever, that the war would just last a week, that they'll easily reach kaar'kchir in a week. And that after his service he will be granted special permissions (ex: being able to build his own fisherman's house, building permissions is a law that appeared in GA to force people to join the ranks). Although he started his service in the west as he was living there. When the north joined the war his division was then sent to the north.
here's a silly drawing to show the 3 layers
Tumblr media
Fun fact, Monmartre and Qua'tuli meet as young recruits in the west. Enjoy monmartre that caught a cold.

Thoughts While Watching Gilmore Girls, 3x10-The Winter Carnival Episode-Pt 3
Tumblr media
Where have I heard an ever so slight variation of this brilliant pick up line before?
Tumblr media
I see he's refining his moves. Adding some tweaks. It takes years of practice to turn into the Super Slutbag MegaWhore he will eventually become.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh. She actually believes he was talking about homework-homework and not Strip Homework.
Tumblr media
Yes, dear. Upstairs. A place that one typically arrives at after ascending a set of stairs.
Tumblr media
Maybe she's catching on. Time to bring back my favorite imaginary narrators, the two sports announcers, one is named Bob and one is named Bill. Take it away, fellas. Bill : Bob, I do believe Miss Gilmore thinks Mr.Mariano actually wants to help her with her calculus homework. Bob: Yet, we both know that Mr Mariano here is only thinking about division and subtraction. Bill: Subtracting clothes? Bob: Indeed Bill. But it's going to take alllllll day to remove all those layers! Can they beat the Cockblock?! Bill: Oh mercy! Here she comes barreling through the door! Will they make it upstairs in time?!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bob: Looks like there will be no Closet Checkers for Jess and Rory today. Bill: His balls have gotta hurt, Bob. Bob: Neon blue, Bill.
Tumblr media
You still can't make up your mind, can you? And yes they were until you came along. You ruin everything, you ruiner. Someone secured a day pass to leave The Bubble and went to the mall to buy ol Richard some junk for his birthday. A bathroom scale, a coin sorter, and a tie. A Happy Walgreens Christmas to all! Rory totally one ups her Mommy by revealing that she purchased a much more thoughtful gift for Grandpa. Take the small wins where you can get em, girl.
Tumblr media
Here comes a gift that its parents wished they could return to customer service after its birth.
Tumblr media
When have you ever been sorry about jack squat, you withered pine cone?
Tumblr media
"I could have been doing HOMEWORK with Jess but now I'm here. I really like homework."
Tumblr media
Well, you do live in a town of like, 46 people, so.
Tumblr media
Mr "I casually strolled into your mother's kitchen unannounced at night to try and fufill my dreams of awkwardly nailing her for 15 seconds before you could catch us" here talking about how awkward it was to discover Rory was home at her own house.
Tumblr media
"Getting coffee with Dean" is just a gateway drug to "Agreeing to talk to Dean alone at night in a dark alleyway" I'm afraid there's little hope for her.
Tumblr media
How about Rory sits in a chair and you sit on a railroad spike?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe Rory isn't neuro-different and this is just a defense mechanism to weird Dean out and get him to leave.
Tumblr media
Sure, why not.
Tumblr media
Well, you do kill women's appetites, buddy. (Except Lorelai's). Dean: You look incredibly uncomfortable. Rory: Oh, it's not you, it's just The Situation.
Yeah, it's never Dean, it's always just The Situation. That's a big word for Dean.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can't be mad at Dean for aiming somewhere in the middle and trying to do something with his life. College, good for you Dean. I'm in favor of anything that will get him out of Stars Hollow.
Seeing he is a 6'4 blob with no personality and a rotating range of interests that come and go with the breeze, I'd be curious what he wants to major in. I mean, softball, reading, the motorcycle, and building cars have all gone by the wayside already, now it's going to be hockey? Mr McKellan writing to the college: Dear Sir: Get this fucknugget out of my class. He's your problem now. Please take him for the love of god.
Tumblr media
Rory reacts with mild surprise upon hearing Dean’s four year college aspirations, especially since she thought he was aiming even lower (the two dirtiest words on Gilmore Girls unless it's Lorelai going there and then it's fine are: "community college") You lay off him! Doubting Dean’s academic and sexual capabilities is my job.
Tumblr media
Wow Dean, you got to read a brochure? I heard that Rory once tried to read a Yale brochure and Lorelai grabbed it and threw in the trash while screaming SHES GOING TO HARVARD! It was weird. Also, you can read? R; What happened to community college? D: I changed my mind Rory:
Tumblr media
The Gilmore Girlies really seem to have a hard time understanding this concept of "changing one's mind".
Tumblr media
And he continues, "And all that talk about "you can do more". Jess would never describe Rory giving him books to read as "pushing all those crazy books on him". Dean makes it sound like "books" are some crazy foriegn concept to him, like not being human tree fungus. And she "pushed them" on him. Did she hold a gun to your head? (I mean, he was acting like she had a gun to his head when she tried to get him enthusiastic about visiting the book fair) And because of "all those crazy books" she forced him to read and her lukewarm "you can do more" encouragement, he's suddenly an Educated Dean now, now he wants to go to a four year college. Oh that Rory Gilmore, she's such a miracle worker. Meanwhile Jess is praying for a Miracle Handjob. Rory describes herself as "The Rain Man" of college application requirements and wants to help Dean apply to college, which is funny to me, because she had only just begun the process of applying to more than one college in the last episode because Lorelai had her in the Harvard Chokehold. Not her fault, but she really shouldn't be giving herself any accolades there. And you shouldn't be offering to help Dean with, like, anything. Let him figure it out on his own. Jesus, Rory.
Tumblr media
Said literally nobody ever in the history of time except Rory this one time. Dean wanted to call Rory earlier to tell her about these mediocre dreams of his, but he couldn't, because of you know, The Guy. I'm sorry Dean, you need to make a friend who is NOT Rory and NOT her MILF Mom. Get a gerbil to talk to or something. You mean to tell me you haven't made any friends from all these sports and hobbies that you get involved in for 1-3 episodes? Let's see how Rory throws Jess under the bus to placate Dean! R:You still could have called me. D:I can't get over how weird it is. I go from seeing you every day to not seeing you every day. I got used to talking to you every day. It's a hard thing to let go of. R: (sadly) I know. Me too. D: Can we be friends? R: (perking up) REALLY? I want to! I really want to! D: Don't ask me how I'm going to deal with HIM. I have no idea. R: Okay. D: Let's take this slowly. "Dealing" with Rory's new boyfriend is something you're gonna have to work on, you skunk. Listen to me, you two sneaky dirtbags. You both SUCK. I feel like this conversation is so low down and dirty and disprectful to poor Jess, even though he may not know everything that happens and what is said when he's not around and even though Rory is just placating Dean like she always has. Enough is enough Rory. Grow a fucking spine already.
(As an aside: she’s always so concerned that random townies will notice her business and spread gossip, but she’s not concerned that someone will see her conversing cozily with Dean over custard pies at the bakery and this won’t make it back to Jess?) I do not like how Rory is treating Jess already, and their relationship is only three episodes in. Arghhh. Salty is pissed!

2023-2024 Annual Impact Report
Tumblr media
Throughout the history of student affairs at The University of Texas at Austin – from the first dean of women in 1903, dean of men in 1913 and vice president for student affairs in 1968 to today – the constant thread is the commitment to always put students first. The Division of Student Affairs’ 2023-2024 Annual Impact Report is anchored by this theme, highlighting the many ways we continue to enhance the student experience while facing unprecedented transformations and challenges.
This year’s publication is dedicated to the late Jim Vick, vice president for student affairs from 1989-2005, who passed away in November 2023. He personified the philosophy of prioritizing students, partnering with them and modeling how to solve problems, work together and strive for excellence.
Our work continues to reflect this dedication. While issues and opportunities have shifted throughout our history, the commitment to support all students is unchanged.
The Division’s unique student life programs, spaces and resources make a positive difference in every student’s college experience, helping create a foundation that leads to successful careers and lives. As you explore this report, you’ll see how our team collectively influences all students to live the Longhorn life. Helping them discover there is more than one way to be a Longhorn can truly change the world!

The Hound of the Baskervilles: The Man on the Tor
E. Remington and Sons, founded in 1816, was an American company known for firearms and typewriters, manufacturing the first commercial model of the latter. The typewriter part of the business was sold off in 1886 and via a series of corporate changes, the company is now part of Unisys. Not that it makes typewriters anymore.
The earliest known use of the word "sexy" comes from a letter by Arnold Bennett in 1896.
This is a period where people, especially of class, very much cared about avoiding scandal. A married woman visiting a single man late at night would be a scandal.
At this time Laura Lyons would have to prove that her estranged husband had committed both adultery and abandoned her. Proving the former would usually require a private detective of some form, beyond the means of most people.
A red letter day is one of special significance. In the UK, there are certain days where English High Court judges wear scarlet robes instead of the normal black. This would include religious festivals and the Sovereign's birthdays (official and actual), but I am unable to find an updated official list to reflect the situation with the current King.
Red Letter Days is also the name of a company that sells "experiences" like tank driving days or a cream tea at a posh hotel.
While Franklin possibly isn't aware of it as it was a common turn of phrases, the term "double event" was used in a postcard purporting to be from Jack the Ripper sent the day after that serial killer murdered two women in the space of an hour.
The Court of Queen’s Bench, now the Court of King's Bench, is the division of the High Court dealing with things like personal injury, libel and breach of contract:
Frankland clearly does not remember that you cannot sue the Sovereign. He could sue the Devon County Constabulary though, which has since become the Devon and Cornwall Police.
Tins for food were widespread at this time. They were made of iron, soldered with a tin-lead alloy, which could lead to poisoning by the latter until Max Ams developed a seam in 1888 that only required the solder on the outside.
A pannikin is a metal cup coated in enamel.
"Spartan" means austere. The city state of Sparta in ancient Greece was known, in a rather mythologicalised fashion, for its heavily militarised society, eschewing personal comfort for this. It attracted a lot of admirers as a result, including playing a big part in fascist beliefs. Their reputation for physical prowess has also seen several sports teams adopt their name, like AC Sparta Prague, who dominate the Czech association football game.
There is also of course 300...

This is a summary of the article that appeared in Bloomberg BusinessWeek, April 3, 2024. I summarized it a fair bit to focus on what was interesting to me in the article. That said, this is still a long read.
Watch out, a couple of swear words in here.
Bluey may be acquired by Disney which would help Disney: 20% of all TV views on the streaming service Disney+ are “Bluey”. In the fourth quarter of 2023 (excluding movies). Americans watched 731 million hours of “Bluey”.
Tumblr media
Brumm accepts an award for best children’s program from the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts in 2019.Photographer: Brendon Thorne/AFI/Getty Images
Joe Brumm is 46, likes sports and surfing, and is brash and unpolished; he seems a little like James Dean in that he’s talented but uncomfortable with fame and having to follow Hollywood conventions and rules… It was noted that Joe Brumm had public relations minders/handlers with him from Disney and the BBC to watch what he said when he was interviewed.
Brumm’s influences include Simpsons, South Park, Peanuts, and Calvin and Hobbes. “Peanuts just meant so much to me growing up” said Brumm. He studied animation in the 2000s at the University of Brisbane and worked in London for the BBC before returning to Australia in 2010 to start Ludo animation.
He came up with Bluey himself, and it was a hard sell initially that the show would be targeting adults and children. He used a lot of his own experiences with his kids to come up with story ideas.
For a while there was the idea of making the show something like an R-rated version of “Peppa Pig”, but that idea was dropped because there was already a similar adult Australian sitcom about raising kids being piloted.
The Australian Broadcasting Company liked the concept of “Bluey” and provided Brumm with A$20,000 ($13,000 US) to create a pilot, which became “The Weekend” episode of Season 1, which was screened at the Asian Animation Summit in November 2016.
Bluey is created at Ludo’s headquarters in Brisbane rather than contracting out the animation overseas, which allows Brumm to continue to tweak episodes up until the last minute. If there’s something he doesn’t like them. He also uses local vocal talent.
The ABC and BBC put up A$6 million to complete the first season of “Bluey”. The BBC made it possible to do this, providing the lion’s share of funding in exchange for distribution and merchandising rights. Australia didn’t have the resources to make the show happen otherwise.
Brumm was very angry when an early critique of Bluey in 2018 said the show made fun of stay-at-home dads; Blumm said he thought to himself “go fuck yourself”.
Within seven months, Bluey was the most watched series ever on the ABC streaming service with 75 million plays of episodes, which led to the BBC commissioning a second season of the show.
Ludo was able to retain control the show, and Brumm was entitled to a share of the revenue.
By 2019, networks in the US were interested in Bluey: Nickelodeon wanted “Bluey”, but they were worried about the name, because it was too close to “Blue’s Clues”. Other networks wanted to change the accents of the characters, and this was a dealbreaker for Ludo and Brumm.
This created an opening for Jane Gould, who was at the time the executive vice president of research and scheduling at Disney’s general entertainment division, who had a comfort level with Bluey because she hailed from Brisbane, and she understood the desire of Brumm and Ludo to keep the show Australian. She didn’t think this was a problem, and she borrowed two episodes to test screen in the US; the kids and parents didn’t have a problem with the Australian aspects of the show. Disney acquired the rights from BBC Studios to air Bluey everywhere except Australia, New Zealand and China.
“Bluey” didn’t get the same marketing push as shows like “The Mandalorian” when Disney+ began broadcasting "Bluey" in June 2020, but soon begin to dominate viewership numbers, in part due to the COVID-19 pandemic. (There was a lot of families spending time watching television and they watched a lot of Bluey.)
The ABC didn’t have a problem with the off-colour humour in “Bluey”, like the use of the word “poo”, and seeing a pony poop in “Markets” and this had to be edited out. Brumm said he hated making these edits... Disney defended these edits saying they were trying to be respectful of different cultural sensitivities, and it’s noted that Disney has since released the uncensored versions of the episodes.
Brumm likes to control his creation. He was upset with some of the early prototypes of Bluey toys because Bandit didn’t look right, he looked like a fridge. He was also concerned that at the beginning that there was too much of a focus on Bluey herself and there weren’t enough toys of all the characters. This concern turned out to be accurate; people wanted toys of all of the characters in the show.
Brumm originally was not sure he wanted to do a second season of “Bluey”, fearing it might not be as good as the first. Brumm doesn’t want to repeat himself in terms of episodes. He wants to make sure that each season is better than the previous one. He was also worried that Bluey would have to stop when Brisbane shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic, but the show continued, with staff working from home.
The “Rain” episode was dialogue-free because Brumm wanted to take a break from writing dialogue at the time.
In Australia, the public and the media have publicly questioned why the ABC didn’t try harder to retain control of the profits from "Bluey" merchandise sales. There was an article in the “Australian Financial Review” that lamented that the ABC had let a gold mine slip through its fingers. It was thought that this decision was shortsighted, but the ABC responded saying they made the best deal at the time that they could. Disney has also been said to have made an error in passing on theme park rights and allowing BBC Studios to retain those rights; people go to Disney parks and ask why they can’t see Bluey there.
Disney isn’t releasing details on whether it’s explored buying “Bluey”, but Ludo says Bluey isn’t for sale, but this could change.
It is noted that there hasn’t been a clear announcement of a fourth season. Brumm has stated previously there will be a hiatus and he’s concerned about the children’s voices changing. His preference not to have to replace the voice actors, and he knows he can’t continue to draw upon his own kids experiences because they’ve grown up.
During the interview, Brumm’s handlers interjected and couldn’t said he couldn’t discuss the final episode.
Speaking anonymously, someone familiar with Disney’s “Bluey” dealings said that Brumm is trying to decide whether he’s comfortable letting other people write for the show, which would make it easier to continue to create episodes, and possibly smooth the way for a Disney acquisition in the future, as Disney would be reluctant to spend billions on a show with only three seasons of episodes.
Brumm said over email that he’s already collaborated on writing some additional episodes and ultimately it isn’t his decision who writes Bluey as he doesn’t own the show.
He thinks the final episode is magical and it sums up everything Bluey has tried to do in the last few years.
