Bob Marley: A Christian Mystic in the Rastafarian Tradition
When we think of Christian mystics, names like St. John of the Cross, Teresa of Avila, and Thomas Merton often come to mind. These individuals, through their writings and lives, embodied a deep and profound connection with the divine, often expressed through personal, mystical experiences of God. However, the notion of Christian mysticism is broader than traditional Catholic or Protestant…

Daddy, will you put the record with the duck song?
One day I put it on a Hendrix record and my son asked me: «Dad, who is he?» I answered: «My son, this is God» (Robert Plant)
That’s pretty much how it was between us, isn’t it, Daddy? "Do you see this gentleman? He can do magic! He can play the duck verse on the guitar! Now I'll make you listen..."
Happy Birthday, Jimi! ♐🎸♋ Seattle, Washington, US. November 27th, 1942
youtube
"The morning is dead And the day is, too There's nothing left here to meet me But the velvet moon All my loneliness I have felt today It's like a little more than enough To make a man throw himself away And I continue To burn the midnight lamp
Alone Now the smiling portrait of youIs still hangin' on my frowning wall But It really doesn't, really doesn't bother me Too much at all It's just the ever falling dust That makes it so hard for me to see That forgotten earring layin' on the floor Facing coldly towards the door
And I continue
To burn the midnight lamp
Lord, alone Burn Lonely, Lonely, Lonely Loneliness is such a drag So here I sit and pace That same old fireplace Gives rise to the same old explosion Goin' through my mind And soon enough time me tell, About the circus and the wishing well And someone who will buy and sell for me Someone who will toll my bell And I continue To burn the same old lamp Lone Yeah Lightnin', can ya hear me callin' you? So lonely Gonna blow my mind Yeah, yeah Lonely lonely My my"
The smoky look of the "mysterious wizard" on the cover of the album, spoke to me through the vortex of the record that was spinning and sounds, voices and music were coming out to it. This was already magic for me. Together with my father and Jimi Hendrix, I walked for the first time through the door to the wonderful dark side of music.
Thanks for this too, Daddy! Miss you so much!

Wisdom for Life (Proverbs 11:1-31)
Anyone can find the dirt in someone. Be the one to find the gold.
The Lord detests dishonest scales,    but delights in an accurate weight. When pride comes, so does shame,    but wisdom brings humility.Integrity guides the virtuous,    but dishonesty ruins the treacherous.Riches don’t help in the day of wrath,    but righteousness rescues from death. The righteousness of the innocent makes their path straight,    but the wicked fall in their wickedness. Those who…

Saint Teresa of Calcutta: The Saint of the Slums
I am deeply emotional when it comes to talk for a great woman like Mother Teresa. Not only because she is Albanian like me, but because I’ve experienced myself the tremendous influence and love Catholics around the world had for her figure. In one of my visits in Malawi in Africa, I participated in a gathering of clients of a microfinance bank there. As I was a guest the speaker introduced me as…

In ages past, the Monkey King defied the heavens, shattering celestial ranks, and even challenging the Jade Emperor himself, until he fell beneath the boundless wisdom of the Great Buddha. Yet, though thousands of years have passed, the fire of Sun Wukong’s rebellion still smolders, ready to blaze again. Now, four emerge—each walking their own path, yet bound by a single purpose: the Destined One, the Fortunate One, the Blazoned One, and the Veiled One. Together, they stand ready to defy fate and storm the very gates of heaven. The era of the spiritual primates begins anew—here, and now.
If Black Myth Wukong won't tell the story of the spiritual primates, I WILL!!!
Anyways, say hello to my two new boys!! The Blazoned One is the Red-Buttocked's 'destined one' and The Veiled One is obviously the Six Eared Macaque's 'destined one' !!
Since there was no mention of the other primates having 'destined ones', these are (somewhat) my OCs!! I'll tell more about The Blazoned One and The Veiled One in a future post!!

Spirituality is important for this family. Ran and Eric has each their own approach, but they both coincide on connecting with their ancestors often.

The Weapons of our Warfare are Divine
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, 4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the tearing down of strongholds, 5 as we tear down speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, 6 and are ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is fulfilled. — 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 | Legacy Standard Bible (LSB) Legacy Standard Bible Copyright ©2021 by The Lockman Foundation. Thoughts on Today's Verse… In our battle against evil, we use the spiritual weapons of God that enable us to know the truth and the freedom that the truth brings. The devil's greatest tools are deception and death. God's grace allow us to see through the deception and demolish its falsifying grip on the minds of men and women. God's power has broken through the barrier of death and given us victory in Jesus Christ. Our task in this victory march? To obey our Lord and help others to do the same, finding his grace and power sufficient to help us overcome all that we face that could defeat us.
The Thoughts on this verse were written by Phil Ware.

Prayer Request 8/25/24
Could I get prayers for Y, the wife of a Christian brother in one of my prayer groups who went overseas recently? She suffered a miscarriage just before they left, and they had to return early because her mother is dying. She is going through so much right now. She was faithful even through the deeply painful circumstances and supported her husband's ministry, but her losses are indescribable. Please pray that the ministry they took part in bears rich fruit, and give thanks that this family continued to serve through everything Satan is throwing at them, and pray that they will continue to persevere, and that these trials won't break them, but will instead refine them and make them stronger.

The Wealth and Wisdom of Solomon (2 Chronicles 9:29-31)
In truth, we are all a bit of a mix of sinner and saint, showing steadfast loyalty in many ways, along with a curious bent toward indulging our desires and letting them carry us to unfaithful places.
King Solomon, by British artist Simeon Solomon, c.1874 Everything else Solomon did while he was king is written in the records of Nathan the prophet, Ahijah the prophet from Shiloh, and Iddo the prophet who wrote about Jeroboam son of Nebat. After Solomon had ruled 40 years from Jerusalem, he died and was buried in the city of his father David. His son Rehoboam then became king. (Contemporary…

“Something wrong?”
He sighed. “It’s nothing, cupcake. Let’s get back to sleep?”
“Something’s wrong. Tell me.”
Jason sighed.
Tumblr media
“I’ve been thinking,” Jason started. “When we’ve retired – and by that time the boys and Sid had graduated already – I want to open a food stand outside our home. I think it’s a great time because it wouldn’t be heavy with our expenses.”
“After you retire?” Sophia raised a brow.
“Yes…?”
Tumblr media
“Why not right after Louie and Sid graduates?” Sophia suggested. “And skip the kiosk, why not open a restaurant? Mason would be graduating from college by that time, he could help around, if he’s able to. You don’t have to wait until we retire, darling. If you really want that to happen, as soon as the older kids graduate you can quit early, and we’ll get that restaurant. I’ll have to keep working though, because I know the first few years would be hell when it comes to money but after easing up, I’ll quit, and I’ll join you!”
He stared at her, as if she said something blasphemous. Sighing, he leaning on his elbow, his wife copying him.
Tumblr media
“Are you sure, Sophia? Cupcake, this is a hard decision. Are you sure? You’ve done a lot for me, ever since we got engaged. Are you sure?”
“Are you sure?” Sophia raised a brow.
“Yes I am.”
“Then it’s settled.” Sophia smirked. “It’s not just me doing a lot, darling. You’ve been a great husband and father, Jason. You deserve it.”
He bit his lip. He sat straight, and he pulled her to him.
Tumblr media
“Thank you, thank you, thank you,” Jason whispered.
“So, where are we opening that restaurant?”
“Near somewhere in the neighborhood. Maybe…maybe Manzanita Terrace? Sid’s old house. Technically she sold it, but I still wanted to ask for her permission.”
Sophia nodded.
“But if that’s not okay with her, we’ll have to look elsewhere. But I want it to be in San Sequoia.”
Tumblr media
Sophia kissed him. “I’ll help you look.”
