Shadow Work is a psychological and spiritual practice that involves exploring the unconscious or hidden parts of oneself, often referred to as the “shadow.” This concept, popularized by Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung, refers to the aspects of our personality that we reject, deny, or are unaware of. These can include repressed emotions, desires, and impulses that we consider unacceptable or undesirable.
The Purpose of Shadow Work
The goal of shadow work is to bring these hidden aspects into the light of consciousness. By acknowledging and integrating these parts, individuals can achieve greater self-awareness, healing, and personal growth. This process can lead to improved relationships, reduced emotional reactivity, and a more balanced, authentic self.
Steps to Begin Shadow Work
Self-Reflection: Start by setting aside time for introspection. Journaling is a powerful tool for this. Write about your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, especially those that trigger strong emotional reactions.
Identify Triggers: Pay attention to situations and people that provoke intense emotions or reactions. These triggers often point to unresolved issues or aspects of your shadow self.
Meditation and Mindfulness: Practice mindfulness and meditation to observe your thoughts and feelings without judgment. This can help you become more aware of your inner landscape and the patterns that arise.
Inner Dialogue: Engage in a dialogue with your shadow self. This can be done through journaling or visualization techniques. Ask questions and listen to what your shadow has to say. This helps in understanding its origins and messages.
Seek Guidance: Working with a therapist, counselor, or spiritual guide can provide support and insight. They can help you navigate the deeper aspects of shadow work and offer techniques tailored to your needs.
Creative Expression: Use art, music, or other creative outlets to express and explore your shadow. Creativity can be a safe way to bring unconscious material to the surface.
Incorporating Shadow Work into Spirituality and Witchcraft
1. Rituals and Ceremonies:
Moon Phases: The waning moon is an excellent time for shadow work, as it symbolizes release and letting go. Create a ritual where you write down aspects of your shadow you wish to address and burn the paper as an act of transformation.
Samhain: This Sabbat festival, marks a time when the veil between worlds is thin. It’s an ideal period for introspection and shadow work. Set up an altar with symbols representing your shadow aspects and meditate on them.
2. Divination:
Tarot and Oracle Cards: Use these tools to gain insights into your shadow self. Draw cards with the intention of uncovering hidden aspects or issues that need attention.
Scrying: Practice scrying with a mirror or a bowl of water to tap into your subconscious mind. This can reveal images or messages related to your shadow.
3. Spellwork:
Protection and Grounding: Perform spells for protection and grounding before engaging in deep shadow work. This ensures you are energetically protected and stable.
Shadow Integration Spells: Create spells designed to help you integrate your shadow aspects. This can involve using herbs, crystals, and symbols associated with healing and balance.
4. Journaling and Grimoire:
Keep a dedicated shadow work journal or section in your grimoire. Document your experiences, insights, and progress. This not only tracks your journey but also provides a reference for future work.
5. Working with Deities and Spirits:
Dark Goddesses: Invoke goddesses such as Hecate, Lilith, or the Morrigan, who are associated with the shadow and transformation. Ask for their guidance and support in your shadow work.
Spirit Guides and Ancestors: Call upon your spirit guides or ancestors for assistance. They can offer wisdom and protection as you navigate your shadow.
Benefits of Shadow Work in Spiritual Practice
Enhanced Self-Awareness: Understanding your shadow leads to a deeper awareness of your true self, fostering spiritual growth.
Emotional Healing: By addressing repressed emotions and traumas, shadow work promotes healing and emotional well-being.
Greater Empathy and Compassion: Integrating your shadow helps you become more empathetic and compassionate towards others, as you recognize similar struggles in them.
Empowerment and Authenticity: Embracing all parts of yourself, including the shadow, empowers you to live more authentically and confidently.
Shadow work is a profound journey of self-discovery and healing. By courageously facing and integrating the hidden aspects of yourself, you can achieve greater harmony and balance in your life. Incorporating shadow work into your spiritual and witchcraft practices can deepen your connection to yourself and the spiritual realm, fostering a richer, more authentic experience.

Saturday thoughts
I have somehow, through various fandom follows, ended up on the Jewish side of Tumblr.
I am not Jewish, I am… let’s say a follower of the teachings of Jesus, because I don’t really follow any denomination and very much prefer more progressive takes.
The break downs and teachings and explanations that a lot of people are putting on here for free is amazing. It’s making me see where my thoughts and beliefs are not as loving and open as I would wish them to be and that I have a lot of work to do yet.
I also feel like it’s helping me to understand the teachings of Jesus better because you can’t remove Judaism from Jesus without completely corrupting and perverting what he taught.
So thank you to everyone who is putting the time, effort, mental and emotional labour to post these teachings and spread the true understanding of your faith.
I, for one, am really learning a lot.

Skinwalkers
Everyone has heard of a myth or legend growing up that has been passed down for generations. From the boogie man to sirens. Normally these Myths are created to make a kid scared to be out late at night or to make them take percussions when going outside. Today i’m gonna touch base and a very well known myth, known as the mimicking and shape shifting spirit…Skinwalkers.
Tumblr media
What are skinwalkers?
Skinwalkers are often known as a skinny and pale creature with glowing eyes that walk on all fours. They are known to mimic animals, baby cries or anything that will make you search for the sound you are hearing. They can also shapeshift into animals like deer, your dog or anything they please. In some places skinwalkers ain’t a skinny pale creature but they’re a witch or shaman who can transform into animals. In some places skinwalkers are evil entities who intent harm on people.
Where did they originate from?
Skinwalkers are apart of the Native American Navajo lore. The skinwalker lore likely began as a way to convey moral lessons and explain occurrences that were inexplicable at the time. It serves as a cautionary tale within the culture, warning against certain behaviors and the misuse of spiritual power.
Skinwalker Ranch
Skinwalker Ranch, also known as Sherman Ranch, is a property located in Utah that's infamous for reports of paranormal and UFO-related activities. It's named after the skinwalker of Native American legend and has become a hub for those interested in the supernatural.
How to know if you spotted one?
Most of the time when someone thinks an animal is a skinwalker is when they have glowing or human like eyes. Another way people think they seen a skinwalker is when a 4 legged animal walks on its two back legs like it’s natural to them.
How were they created?
Skinwalkers, in legend, were once healers or spiritual guides who have been corrupted by dark magic. They're said to have chosen to gain their powers by breaking a cultural taboo, which varies among the stories told.
What is associated with them?
Skinwalkers are often associated with malevolent acts, shape-shifting abilities, and certain animals like coyotes, wolves, bears, and birds of prey. They're also linked to various supernatural phenomena within their lore.
What to do if you ever encounter one
If someone believes they've encountered a skinwalker, folklore often suggests not to engage or lock eyes, as it's said they can absorb themselves into your body. It's also advised to keep the encounter to oneself, as speaking about it might attract their attention.
The world of Skinwalkers and their ability to be anything or sound like anything is a way to attract the human attention. When you hear an animal in pain or a baby crying you subconsciously want to go help them without thinking any danger is involved.
I enjoy deep diving into legends, myths, mysteries and just anything that has many different ways to look at it. If you have any suggestions for a post, let me know and i’ll make a post about it and it’s history!

I wish I could believe in like anything supernatural or like witchcraft or the greek gods because it's so interesting and fascinating and cool but my brain is very like scientific(?) in that without real evidence i can't believe anything like that, evidence as in i personally see or experience it not like hard evidence that like scientifically proves it exists, i just need to see it for myself.
I was also raised catholic and idk if i ever believed in god, like it's hard to remember how i felt about god when i was in elementary school because of how long it's been but from what i can remember i think i kinda just went along with it and didn't really think to hard about if god exists but i also remember that i never really believed that praying would do anything and i never really took being religious or god too seriously so i think that although i never really thought about it back then i didn't really ever truly believe in god

My personal beliefs on the matter of divinity
(this is a long post, if you want me to get to my point, scroll down for the purple text)
I grew up in the Bible belt, both my parents were/are members of the RLDS church (Reorganized Church of the Latter-Day Saints, or as I like to call it: diet Mormonism or Mormon lite), and when we weren't attending the RLDS church, we were going to a Baptist church. My parents homeschooled me and closely monitored who I made friends with. I grew up with a narrow, but common belief that big G is up in heaven, watching and knowing everything that happens and will happen, is all powerful but uses his power sparingly, has strict rules for how he wants humans to be, and requires sacrifice of some type to be appeased (in this case, Jesus was the sacrifice, but before him, they made animal sacrifices, and at one point God asked for a child sacrifice as a test).
But all of that was ok, because there was God in the flesh as Jesus. And to be fair, Jesus seemed like a pretty cool guy, he seemed to care less about The Rules, and more about people loving one another. And then Jesus brutally died because humans are evil and the only way God could tolerate us is if someone died.
While I was told that God is perfect, I kept seeing him contradict himself and act very... "Human" like (angry, jealous, needing praise, being violent, etc). I was told that there was no way to truly comprehend him, but also that he made himself comprehensible to us/he was now comprehensible to us because of the first sin (eating fruit from the forbidden tree, gaining knowledge of good and evil).
As I got older, other beliefs intrigued me, and I had plenty of experiences that the "Spiritual Leaders" around me either dismissed or just had no explanation for, along with feeling like I was evil for having same-sex attraction. I eventually delved into polytheism, at first believing that the Christian god is not real and never was, to then believing that he is real and is just a dick. Sure, there were other gods that were dicks too, but at least they didn't claim to be perfect like he did. But then I did research as to how monotheism came about and learned that the Christian god is most likely two gods that got morphed into one over time and tradition.
So where do I stand now on Divinity, gods, goddesses, monotheism, and polytheism?
Pardon me for how woo-woo this is about to get, but:
-Divinity, The Creator, "God", whatever you want to call it, I believe it is within all things. It is life itself. It is what animates us. A fragment of Divinity is inside you and me and is what is commonly known as a "soul."
-Divinity is also within the gods, spirits, etc., perhaps to some greater extent than us, even.
-The main source of Divinity is somewhere outside of all time and all space, and can hardly be comprehended as a person. It creates infinitely, and sends itself into its creations to experience it.
-Does it love? Does it have morals? Look around you. If you've been paying attention you've surely noticed by now that there is no One Human Experience. That even among our own species, so much can vary- from morals, sexuality, culture, empathy, wants, and needs to circumstances we were born into and what we choose to do with the gift of life. No, I don't think it truly has any morality or love, or at least any that I can comprehend. I think it's main objective/need is to experience all things.
Do I worship this thing? Well, no... Not exactly. But also, in a way, yes. I occasionally work with and devote myself to various gods and goddesses. I believe life is sacred and should be preserved. I give other humans respect, and in some ways love all humans for having the gift of existence. I do my best to take care of myself and learn so I can better myself and those around me. I don't directly worship this source of existence, but I respect existence itself as it is in all things.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who has thought of all of this, but I've not heard anyone talk about the same thing and so I don't know what to call it. It seems kinda New-Age-y but not quite because I've not heard it expressed the same way. The closest I've heard is "You are the universe experiencing itself" which sums this up well but lacks nuance. Does anyone else believe this/know what this line of belief is called?

In the realm of magic, one principle stands above the rest: the power of intent. At its core, intent is the driving force behind every spell, ritual, and magical endeavor. Whether you’re a seasoned practitioner or just beginning your journey, understanding and harnessing the power of your intent can profoundly enhance your magical practice.
What is Intent in Magic?
Intent is the focused desire and purpose you infuse into your magical workings. It is the clear, conscious will you project into the universe to manifest a specific outcome. Think of intent as the blueprint for your magic—it gives direction and purpose to your energy, guiding it toward your desired goal.
Why Intent Matters
Clarity and Focus: A clear intent provides a focal point for your magical energy. Without a well-defined goal, your energy can scatter, diluting its effectiveness. Like an archer aiming at a target, your intent narrows your focus, ensuring your energy hits its mark
Alignment with the Universe: When your intent is clear, you align yourself with the natural flow of universal energy. This alignment amplifies your power, making it easier for the universe to respond to your wishes. It’s like tuning into the right frequency on a radio—when you’re on the right channel, everything comes through more clearly.
Empowerment and Confidence: Knowing what you want and why you want it strengthens your confidence. This self-assuredness not only boosts your magical prowess but also enhances your overall sense of empowerment in life.
How to Harness the Power of Intent
Define Your Goal: Before casting any spell or performing a ritual, take time to clearly define your goal. What do you want to achieve? Be specific. Instead of saying, “I want to be happy,” you might say, “I want to find joy and contentment in my daily life.”
Visualize Your Desire: Visualization is a powerful tool for focusing your intent. Close your eyes and vividly imagine the outcome you desire. Engage all your senses—see it, hear it, feel it, smell it, and even taste it if applicable. The more detailed your visualization, the stronger your intent.
Use Affirmations: Positive affirmations reinforce your intent. Create a short, positive statement that encapsulates your goal and repeat it regularly. For example, if you seek financial abundance, you might affirm, “I am open to receiving wealth and prosperity.”
Infuse Emotion: Emotion is the fuel for your intent. Feel the emotions associated with achieving your goal—joy, relief, excitement, love. Emotions heighten your energy and make your intent more compelling to the universe.
Release and Trust: Once you’ve set your intent, release it into the universe and trust the process. Holding on too tightly can create resistance. Have faith that the universe will respond in the best possible way and at the right time.
Practical Exercises to Strengthen Your Intent
Meditation: Regular meditation helps quiet your mind and enhances your focus. Spend a few minutes each day meditating on your intent, allowing it to sink deeply into your subconscious.
Journaling: Write down your goals and the reasons behind them. Journaling clarifies your thoughts and solidifies your intent. Revisit your entries to stay aligned with your desires.
Rituals and Spellwork: Design rituals and spells that resonate with your intent. Use symbols, colors, herbs, and crystals that correspond to your goal. The act of performing a ritual reinforces your intent through action and symbolism.
The power of intent is the cornerstone of effective magic. By focusing your magical energy with a clear, purposeful intent, you can manifest your desires and create profound changes in your life. Remember, the universe responds to the energy you put out, so make sure your intent is aligned with your true desires and highest good. With practice and dedication, you’ll find that your ability to harness the power of intent becomes second nature, transforming your magical practice and your life.
Embrace the power of your intent and watch as your magical journey unfolds with greater clarity, purpose, and success.

How quickly black people get offended and standoffish when you mention you aren't a Christian is WILD to me! Don't say you don't believe in any god lol mfs been the homies 14 years and act like I stabbed their grandma lol. It's fine. You have the right to believe what you want. You do NOT have the right to impose your (dumbass) beliefs on other people and degrade them for disagreeing. This is why people dislike Christians. They aren't jealous, they recognize shitty people when they see them.

For people who've been diagnosed with DID, do you think it's possible in some cases each alter is a soul or spirit such that there are multiple souls or spirits attached to the physical body?
Spiritual beliefs are something personal that one sorts out on their own. People believe various things regarding DID. From the totally uneducated that alters are demons to the unknown such as your question.
Some people may believe each part/alter has their own soul/spirit while others believe that because the parts reside in one body there is one spirit as DID is a survival mechanism of the mind.
Ultimately you get to decide what you believe. Others don’t decide this for you. Each alter may have a different spiritual belief they follow.

Jinns
Myths and Legends keep people on their toes and make others wonder the possibilities of things beyond the living. What if you knew something could attach to you through a mirror, through just walking at night with headphones in, or the simplest task that just makes a spiritual being attached to you…. we will be talking about the secret world of Jinns.
Tumblr media
What is a Jinn?
A jinn, in Islamic mythology, is a supernatural being that can be good, evil, or neutrally benevolent and has free will. They're mentioned in the Quran and are believed to live in a world parallel to mankind. Most people believe that jinns can attach to you from you dressing in front of a mirror, you wear strong scents outside during night, you walking with your headphones in and so much more. It is even believed that they can grant wishes.
Where do they originate?
Jinns originate from pre-Islamic Arabian religion and later incorporated into Islamic theology. They are mentioned throughout the Quran and Hadith.
Can Jinns possess or influence people?
Yes,within Islamic belief, it's thought that jinns can possess or influence people, though such occurrences are considered rare.
What are common signs of Jinn possession?
Common signs of jinn possession in folklore include unexplained physical ailments, severe mood swings, uncharacteristic behavior, and sudden knowledge of unfamiliar languages or topics. However, these are based on cultural beliefs, not scientific evidence.
How can Jinns attach to you?
Jinns are said to attach to individuals through various means, like if a person accidentally harms a jinn, through black magic, or if a jinn falls in love with a person. As stated above Jinns can fall in love with a person through scent or simply just you dressing in front of a mirror, of course there are different beliefs surrounding how they attach to you or fall in love with you but these are just the two common ones people know of.
Are there rituals to protect against Jinn possession?
Yes, in Islamic tradition, there are protective measures like reciting certain verses from the Quran, such as Ayatul Kursi, or invoking God's protection through daily prayers and adhering to a pious lifestyle.
Some myths surrounding Jinns include:
Having the ability to shape-shift, possess immense strength, or grant wishes, akin to genies in Western tales. They're also believed to live in parallel worlds to humans.
Different types of Jinns
In the lore, there are several types of jinns, such as the Marid, known for their strength and magic; the Ifrit, often depicted as cunning and powerful; and the Shaitan, commonly associated with malevolence. Each type has its own traits and hierarchy in the world of spirits.
Common misconceptions surrounding Jinns
Some common misconceptions include that all jinns are evil or malicious, when in fact, they're believed to have free will, much like humans. Another is that they are visible to us; traditionally, they're thought to exist in a realm unseen. Also, while some stories suggest jinns grant wishes, this is more a trait of genies from folk tales rather than from religious texts.
What are Jinns associated with
Jinns are associated with various elements of the supernatural. They are believed to live in a world parallel to humans, have free will, and can be good, evil, or neutral. In cultural lore, they're often linked to occurrences that are beyond human understanding, and some traditions hold that they can influence or interact with the physical world in various ways.
What do Jinns look like?
Jinns are typically unseen, believed to have delicate, fluid bodies that allow them to shift shapes as they please. They often take the shape of snakes, though they might also manifest as scorpions, lizards, or even humans. It's said they can have intimate relations with humans, resulting in offspring.
Jinns are seen in all types of way depending on your belief, some see them as evil, some see them as a free will human it all depends on your belief! This is an open world with endless possibilities and endless beliefs. You decided for yourself which opinions, myths, legends or mysteries you believe in.
I love diving into the endless possibilities and beliefs within this universe. If you have anything you would like me to cover and look into the history for, let me know and i’ll gladly do so!

So, something I wrote after seeing an AO3 author’s name of all things.
“Socrates is dead.” Such a powerful sentence. Someone could take it in several ways. One, pure fact. Socrates, a man who lived thousands of years ago, is no longer alive. The next option, a bit scarier. No matter how much you learn, how much you grow, how much power you possess (for knowledge is power, and truth even more so), no matter how revolutionary you are… you are still human. You will still die. There is nothing you nor anyone else can do to stop it.
The third and final option is even worse.
Socrates is dead.
Knowledge is dead.
Our world no longer relies on honesty and the curious mind. In fact, most of us are overlooked, called naive, told to ‘sober up’ and ‘focus’. We live in a world where truth, for all intents and purposes, is relative. Media has made sure of that. WE have made sure of that.
And what is left? What power is there, when truth and knowledge become practically irrelevant?
Money. Status. Power.
The way you talk, the clothes you wear, the car you drive, the people you know, all more practically important than what is actually real.
In a world where society is built on lies, the only way to break free is to find the truth.
We all know we need them, even if we insist we don’t. Answers. Answers to the most basic questions, the questions which we’ve been told by society are futile and meaningless. Who am I? Why do I matter? Where did we come from? Is there a God?
Is there a point to my existence?
You can’t say you’ve never thought it. It’s, again, intrinsically human to wonder. To need answers. To seek them. We’ve been doing it since the beginning of time, creating mythologies and cultures that answer those burning, deeply human questions. But society doesn’t want us to realize that.
Because knowledge is power.
Truth is power.
Let me rephrase my previous point.
In a society where truth seems nonexistent, the only way to break free is to believe.
I don’t know what’s true. I don’t know who or what to believe in. And that’s dangerous, in its own way. But I do know that I’ve searched. I’ve found what I think makes the most sense. I’ve dared to ask the dangerous questions, the hard ones, the horrible ones.
Can you say the same?
Why are these questions so dangerous?
Because when we believe, suddenly the government isn’t so important any more. The hell on earth breaking loose all around us isn’t so important any more. The horrendous corruption in places of power doesn’t matter so much. Why?
They’re put in perspective. The people in power seem as just that— people.
Barring violence, the only way to truly put people like that in their place is to believe. To step outside of their control. To learn for ourselves what is right and wrong, if there is a right and wrong.
We’ve been taught that such things are baseless, naive, thoughts only for the dreamer and the melodramatic writer. But the reality is, to me, that things like creating, thinking, connecting, communicating, things like curiosity and wonder, things like believing, as fluffy and rose-colored as they might sound, are the most intrinsically human things we could ever possibly do.
Do you want to know who you are? Figure out what you believe. Be open to new ideas. Crave learning. Step outside of our crumbling society.
And then no one can stop you.
-Grace
