Sleep Paralysis
Sleep is something almost everyone looks forward to, but there is sometimes that one thing that makes you scared of sleep. Having the fear of not being able to move, sometimes not be able to speak, seeing a figure just staring at you from a distance or right above you, having trouble breathing, not knowing if it’s a nightmare of not. That sounds terrifying right, well many people experience it once in their life, every odd day and then there is times where is it a routine for people. The terrifying thing this is known as is…. sleep paralysis.
What is sleep paralysis?
Sleep paralysis happens when you're falling asleep or waking up. Your brain sort of wakes up, but your body is still in dream mode, so you're temporarily paralyzed. It's like your muscles are taking a bit longer to catch up to your awake brain. Some people see or hear things that aren't there during this time, which can be part of the experience. It's a common phenomenon and usually isn't something to worry about. If it happens often, it is advised to seek a doctor.
What causes sleep paralysis?
Sleep paralysis is caused by a disruption in the sleep cycle. When you sleep, you go through stages, including REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, where dreaming happens. Your body naturally paralyzes itself to prevent you from acting out your dreams. Sometimes, you might wake up before the REM cycle finishes, and that's when you can't move or speak. Stress, lack of sleep, and sleeping on your back can make it more likely to happen.
Can sleep paralysis be scary?
Yea, sleep paralysis can be pretty scary for some people. You're awake but can't move, and you might see or hear things that aren't really there. It's like a scene from a spooky movie but in real life.
What are common hallucinations during sleep paralysis?
Common hallucinations during sleep paralysis include feeling pressure on your chest, seeing a figure in the room, or hearing strange noises. Some folks even feel like they're floating or being pulled out of bed.
Is there a way to prevent it?
yes, there are apparently a few things you can try to prevent sleep paralysis:
1. Keep a Regular Sleep Schedule: Going to bed and waking up at the same time every day helps regulate your sleep cycle.
2. Create a Restful Environment:Make sure your bedroom is comfortable, dark, and quiet.
3. Avoid Stimulants: Steering clear of caffeine and electronics before bed can also help.
4. Sleep Position:Try sleeping on your side rather than your back.
5. Manage Stress: Relaxation techniques like deep breathing or meditation before bed can be beneficial.
If it keeps happening or it's stressing you out, a chat with a healthcare provider might be a good idea. They can offer more personalized advice.
Beliefs surrounding sleep paralysis
Across cultures, there are various tales to explain it. For example, some cultures have beliefs about a 'night hag' or a demonic figure that sits on your chest. Others think it's the work of spirits or supernatural beings. And in modern times, some even link it to alien abductions. But at its core, these myths are trying to make sense of a really bizarre and often frightening experience.
Reddit sleep paralysis story
Title: Mattress Demon
My First Time I Experienced Sleep paralysis was when I slept with the lights on because I forgot to turn them off before I fell asleep. Im sleeping comfortably until all of a sudden I feel a big force grabbing my back. My eyes open and I can't move any part of my body parts, except my eyes and my head. I turned my left and see Giant black crystal like demon hand pulling me down into my own mattress. I tried to scream for help, but I couldn't talk. I could only talk in my mind. And im thinking to myself "wtf is there a hand pulling me into my mattress? this isn't making any sense! " Someone help me! Im panicking and im sinking deeper and deeper into my matress to the point, where im losing the view of my bedroom and I could barely breathe. So I decided to stop panicking and slowly I wake up and I can move and talk again.

My own personal experience
I’ve only ever had sleep paralysis happen to me once but in my family is it common, only we know it as “being hagged.” In my family it is known that if you get hagged and see the spirit or demon you just have to say your name backwards and you will be awoken or set free. One night i was in and out of sleep constantly because i just had a nightmare a half hour before and was trying to go back to sleep. When i was finally asleep i was awoken (or so i thought) and i tried to move but couldn’t i looked over by my desk and saw a man standing there with half his body beneath my desk and half his body above. His features weren’t noticeable and he was just a shadow , just lingering. I tried to move but i couldn’t when i asked what was happening he said “you know too much.” i tired to move and break out of it not knowing at the time what it was but when i looked in the corner of my eye to see i was being held down by my arms, by what i thought was my boyfriend. It was him but then again it wasn’t his eyes were white and bleeding red and his mouth was sewed shut. I realized i was being hagged and tried to scream my name backwards like i was taught growing up. The man laughed and said “you really think that’s gonna work” then i remembered my lightbulb was connected to my Alexa and i screamed “ALEXA TURN ON THE LIGHT.” After i screamed that i sat up panting and sweating but the odd thing was i heard my Alexa say “okay” after my light had turned on. So still to this day I don’t know if it was actually sleep paralysis or something my family had been trying to warn each other about for years.
There are many beliefs and explanations surrounding sleep paralysis. Many people have their own scientific explanation but others think it could be spiritual due to their experience or beliefs.
Let me know if you lean more towards the scientific side or spiritual side. If you have any stories of your own comment them down below.
I love deep diving into mysteries, beliefs on spiritual things, creepy topics, history and so much more. If there’s a topic you would like me to explore, i’m open to do so.

Jinns
Myths and Legends keep people on their toes and make others wonder the possibilities of things beyond the living. What if you knew something could attach to you through a mirror, through just walking at night with headphones in, or the simplest task that just makes a spiritual being attached to you…. we will be talking about the secret world of Jinns.
What is a Jinn?
A jinn, in Islamic mythology, is a supernatural being that can be good, evil, or neutrally benevolent and has free will. They're mentioned in the Quran and are believed to live in a world parallel to mankind. Most people believe that jinns can attach to you from you dressing in front of a mirror, you wear strong scents outside during night, you walking with your headphones in and so much more. It is even believed that they can grant wishes.
Where do they originate?
Jinns originate from pre-Islamic Arabian religion and later incorporated into Islamic theology. They are mentioned throughout the Quran and Hadith.
Can Jinns possess or influence people?
Yes,within Islamic belief, it's thought that jinns can possess or influence people, though such occurrences are considered rare.
What are common signs of Jinn possession?
Common signs of jinn possession in folklore include unexplained physical ailments, severe mood swings, uncharacteristic behavior, and sudden knowledge of unfamiliar languages or topics. However, these are based on cultural beliefs, not scientific evidence.
How can Jinns attach to you?
Jinns are said to attach to individuals through various means, like if a person accidentally harms a jinn, through black magic, or if a jinn falls in love with a person. As stated above Jinns can fall in love with a person through scent or simply just you dressing in front of a mirror, of course there are different beliefs surrounding how they attach to you or fall in love with you but these are just the two common ones people know of.
Are there rituals to protect against Jinn possession?
Yes, in Islamic tradition, there are protective measures like reciting certain verses from the Quran, such as Ayatul Kursi, or invoking God's protection through daily prayers and adhering to a pious lifestyle.
Some myths surrounding Jinns include:
Having the ability to shape-shift, possess immense strength, or grant wishes, akin to genies in Western tales. They're also believed to live in parallel worlds to humans.
Different types of Jinns
In the lore, there are several types of jinns, such as the Marid, known for their strength and magic; the Ifrit, often depicted as cunning and powerful; and the Shaitan, commonly associated with malevolence. Each type has its own traits and hierarchy in the world of spirits.
Common misconceptions surrounding Jinns
Some common misconceptions include that all jinns are evil or malicious, when in fact, they're believed to have free will, much like humans. Another is that they are visible to us; traditionally, they're thought to exist in a realm unseen. Also, while some stories suggest jinns grant wishes, this is more a trait of genies from folk tales rather than from religious texts.
What are Jinns associated with
Jinns are associated with various elements of the supernatural. They are believed to live in a world parallel to humans, have free will, and can be good, evil, or neutral. In cultural lore, they're often linked to occurrences that are beyond human understanding, and some traditions hold that they can influence or interact with the physical world in various ways.
What do Jinns look like?
Jinns are typically unseen, believed to have delicate, fluid bodies that allow them to shift shapes as they please. They often take the shape of snakes, though they might also manifest as scorpions, lizards, or even humans. It's said they can have intimate relations with humans, resulting in offspring.
Jinns are seen in all types of way depending on your belief, some see them as evil, some see them as a free will human it all depends on your belief! This is an open world with endless possibilities and endless beliefs. You decided for yourself which opinions, myths, legends or mysteries you believe in.
I love diving into the endless possibilities and beliefs within this universe. If you have anything you would like me to cover and look into the history for, let me know and i’ll gladly do so!

Skinwalkers
Everyone has heard of a myth or legend growing up that has been passed down for generations. From the boogie man to sirens. Normally these Myths are created to make a kid scared to be out late at night or to make them take percussions when going outside. Today i’m gonna touch base and a very well known myth, known as the mimicking and shape shifting spirit…Skinwalkers.
What are skinwalkers?
Skinwalkers are often known as a skinny and pale creature with glowing eyes that walk on all fours. They are known to mimic animals, baby cries or anything that will make you search for the sound you are hearing. They can also shapeshift into animals like deer, your dog or anything they please. In some places skinwalkers ain’t a skinny pale creature but they’re a witch or shaman who can transform into animals. In some places skinwalkers are evil entities who intent harm on people.
Where did they originate from?
Skinwalkers are apart of the Native American Navajo lore. The skinwalker lore likely began as a way to convey moral lessons and explain occurrences that were inexplicable at the time. It serves as a cautionary tale within the culture, warning against certain behaviors and the misuse of spiritual power.
Skinwalker Ranch
Skinwalker Ranch, also known as Sherman Ranch, is a property located in Utah that's infamous for reports of paranormal and UFO-related activities. It's named after the skinwalker of Native American legend and has become a hub for those interested in the supernatural.
How to know if you spotted one?
Most of the time when someone thinks an animal is a skinwalker is when they have glowing or human like eyes. Another way people think they seen a skinwalker is when a 4 legged animal walks on its two back legs like it’s natural to them.
How were they created?
Skinwalkers, in legend, were once healers or spiritual guides who have been corrupted by dark magic. They're said to have chosen to gain their powers by breaking a cultural taboo, which varies among the stories told.
What is associated with them?
Skinwalkers are often associated with malevolent acts, shape-shifting abilities, and certain animals like coyotes, wolves, bears, and birds of prey. They're also linked to various supernatural phenomena within their lore.
What to do if you ever encounter one
If someone believes they've encountered a skinwalker, folklore often suggests not to engage or lock eyes, as it's said they can absorb themselves into your body. It's also advised to keep the encounter to oneself, as speaking about it might attract their attention.
The world of Skinwalkers and their ability to be anything or sound like anything is a way to attract the human attention. When you hear an animal in pain or a baby crying you subconsciously want to go help them without thinking any danger is involved.
I enjoy deep diving into legends, myths, mysteries and just anything that has many different ways to look at it. If you have any suggestions for a post, let me know and i’ll make a post about it and it’s history!

Medusa
There are many versions of every story that is passed down from generation to generation. Stories where there is always some type of information that was missed or tweaked. The story I would like to touch on today is the story of medusa, how in my opinion she she was done wrong when trying to get help from a greek god she once worshipped.
The story of Medusa
Medusa was the daughter of Forces and Seto who worshipped Athena like no other but never got a response . She was strikingly beautiful which later got the attention of Poseidon. Medusa has two sister named Yuriel and Steno who were immortal unlike her. Medusa possessed such beauty that it got the attention of a greek god known as Poseidon, he wanted to abuse Medusa in the temple dedicated the Athena. Poseidon tried to take advantage of Medusa but she prayed to Athena for help but Athena didn’t tolerate what was happening within her temple and instead of punishing Poseidon she put a curse on Medusa. Athena took away Medusas Beauty and gave her snakes as hair and if that weren’t enough she put a curse on Medusa, anyone who looked her in the eyes would turn into stone. Medusa had got her beauty and innocence ripped from her for something that wasn’t even her fault. Medusa was disowned by men and took refuge in the confines of the world with her sisters. She lived this way for years in loneliness and suffering. One day she was discovered by the hero known as Perseus who was sent to behead her. Perseus was helped by the gods, he possessed the helmet of invisibility by Hades, the salty sandals of Hermes, the shield of Athena and lastly a sharp sickle. Perseus managed to approach Medusa without being seen using the reflection of the shield as a mirror, with an accurate cut he beheaded Medusa and kept it in a magic bag. But to his surprise for the bleeding of Medusa, emerged two creatures Pegasus the winged horse and Chris AOR the warrior with a golden sword. They were now children of possessed and Medusa even after her death. Since Medusa’s head still turned people to stone Perseus used this to his advantage defeating his enemies in his adventures, then he finally gave the head of Medusa to Athena. Who kept Medusa’s head under protection and turned it into a powerful and fearsome shield.
Peoples opinions + My own
People think Athena was jealous of Medusa’s beauty and other people think that Athena did it to protect her from ever being harmed again. I lean more towards the never being harmed again. My reason being if Athena was jealous of her beauty I believe she would have just took her beauty and gave her snakes for hair, but the added curse for turning people to stone. The curse to me could be a good backbone to the theory that Athena was just trying to protect Medusa from it ever happening again. There are many versions of the story along with many other stories, but the fact she gave her the curse along with her beauty i believe that it was to protect her.
Was Medusa evil?
While doing further research people see Medusa as evil because of her snakes for hair and the fact she turns people to stone just by her gaze. Other people see Medusa as a tragic figure who was done wrong.
Medusa Tattoo
You may have seen people with the Medusa tattoo. People don’t really know the meaning behind said tattoo so i will give the story behind it since we are on the topic of her. There are many meanings behind the tattoo but what it is normally known for it:
- Surviving a sexual assault or abuse
- Strength
-Power
- Female empowerment
The meaning behind the tattoo varies depending on the person. Sometimes there isn’t any meaning at all and the person just likes her backstory and sees her as a person who should be recognized and appreciated.
Myths surrounding Medusa
People think Medusa is just a fears monster in the heroic story of Perseus. In order to free his mother he was sent to behead Medusa and give her head to Athena. They leave the story at that not telling why Medusa had the snakes for hair or why she had the ability to turn people to stone with just her gaze. She was mortal after all how could she just possess those abilities on her own, some may say her parents and that she inherited it or it was just pure bad luck.
Medusa is different in every persons beliefs but they are my personal opinion on medusa’s story and stuff surrounding Medusa.
My opinion why not make sense to you or you have a different belief so you disagree. But it’s just my thoughts, that’s why it’s called an opinion.

Conspiracy Theories
The world of conspiracy theories are based on digging deeper into the possibilities and what if’s of anything that’s not fully explained.
The one I want to touch on today, is the conspiracy theory that everyone is currently already dead.
There is a conspiracy theory that everyone is already dead, and right now we are just either living in a memory since the brain has 7 minutes of activity after death or we are all ghosts reliving our lives that already happend. The reason that i kinda of believe this theory is because everyone says that life is already planned out for you and fate will lead the way. Yes god or whoever you worship could have set that path for you when your soul was brought to earth. But what if we are all stuck in a loop of our own lives and trauma that had already occurred.
The reason this theory could be debunked is because of the fact ghosts can be caught on camera as mists, shadows, orbs, etc. But what if those spirits are just our guardian angels that are with us throughout the whole experience of accepting we are dead and when we actually die that’s when we fully accept that this is the end of our memories and our life line.
You may have heard of a residual haunting or intelligent haunting. Residual hauntings is when a spirit is in a continuous loop and can’t interact directly due to the fact they died from trauma or there is something else that explains it . A intelligent haunting is when a spirit isn’t in a loop of their prior life and can communicate directly with the living. What if we are all in a residual haunting reliving our lives and the spirits we are trying to communicate are the living.
Our memories are wiped after we die and we just relive what we once known. Hence deja vu, we are starting to remember and get flashbacks.
My opinion to the conspiracy theory or my own theory on this topic itself is very far fetched and probably not even realistic. But that’s why it’s a theory.
