The classic action-adventure title Spider-Man was developed by Neversoft and published by Activision in the year 2000 primarily for the Sony Playstation and for Game Boy Color, a side version made by Vicarious Vision. A few months later it was ported for the Nintendo 64 by Edge of Reality. In the following year, the Sega Dreamcast version was finally released, developed by Treyarch. It also received a PC port in 2001 and for Mac OS X in 2002.

Long ago, I discovered a glitch while playing the Nintendo 64 version of "Spider-Man (2000)". In the first boss fight with Venom, you could glitch Venom's arm if you web yank him. Here's how you can pull off this glitch. I don't know if it'll work on the Sega Dreamcast and PC ports, but it will definitely work on the N64 version for sure. I tested out the PS1 version online to see if the glitch will still work (which, as you can see is used for this demonstration), and it does, so that's another option.
HOW TO PERFORM THE VENOM ARM GLITCH
I highly recommend you go to the "Special" menu and use cheat codes before entering the level, "Spidey vs. Venom!". If you're just starting out, and you don't have any levels or costumes, just use the cheat code that unlocks every level (in case you don't care for the alternate skins) or the cheat code that unlocks everything. Type in the cheat codes for "Unlimited Webbing" and "Invulnerability" and start the level. Alternatively, you can use whatever cheat code unlocks the Captain Universe suit and just use that.
Go to the level select screen and enter the level, "Spidey vs. Venom!". Choose any difficulty you like and skip the opening cutscene for this level.
As soon as the level starts, get as far away from Venom as possible and let him stretch his arm at you.
Web yank Venom as his long arm is about to touch you, and let Venom's arm come to you. You'll just be punched instead of shaken around. This may take a number of tries, another good reason why you need the invulnerability and unlimited webbing cheats activated.
When you do successfully web-yank Venom as he stretches his arm at you, hide behind the car and look at him running around hopelessly. You may find his running animation hysterical with his arm still long as he runs around searching for you.
I could possibly make a meme template out of this to exaggerate how funny this glitch is, but for now, try this glitch out for yourself if you have this game (even if you just play it online through emulators or by other means).

The only Spider-Man video game that was genuinely spot on.🔥
PS1 Spider-Man Timeline
For a bit of fun, I took a crack at making a loose timeline based on the game-changing Activision game Spider-Man (2000) for the PlayStation and all it’s related media. Let me know if I’ve missed anything or made a mistake!
Tumblr media
Spider-Man 2: Sinister Six (Game Boy Colour) - Presumably takes place at some point in the past. There is no mention of Mary Jane, Peter appears to live with his Aunt May (her only appearance in the canon) and Otto Octavius mentions Peter was a student of his at some point. Also, Ock is rocking his older style yellow and green spandex outfit instead of his standard PS1 costume.
Tumblr media
Spider-Man 2: Mysterio’s Menace (Game Boy Advance) - This one likely fits prior to the events of Spider-Man (2000) or after the ending of Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro as Mysterio and others are seen in prison after the events of both games. I’ve placed it beforehand as I think it makes the most sense.
Tumblr media
Spider-Man (2000) Activision Prequel comic - As it’s an official prequel and sets up the events of the first game, logically it fits here. Scans can be found here thanks to SuperSwimTeam7.
Tumblr media
Spider-Man (PS1, N64, Dreamcast, PC)- The one that started it all. Doc Ock, Mysterio, Scorpion all appear in prison in the game’s final moments.
Tumblr media
X-Men: Mutant Academy 2 (PS1) - If you want to include it? If it fits better someplace else, let me know. It features Spidey voiced by Romano again and has a trailer for Enter Electro in it, but really, it could go almost anywhere.
Tumblr media
Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro (PS1) - Set after the events of the first game, as confirmed by the appearance of Doc Ock etc at the game’s conclusion.
Tumblr media
X2: Wolverine’s Revenge Deleted Scene (PS2, Gamecube, Xbox, PC) - An unlockable bonus or ‘deleted scene’ depicts Spider-Man offering Logan some assistance before his confrontation with Magneto. Spidey is voiced by Spider-Man and Enter Electro’s Rino Romano himself. As the game was released in 2003,  this would mark the last real-world appearance of the PS1 Spidey. You can view the scene here.
A few honourable mentions:
Tumblr media
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 (PS1) - ‘Tony Hawk! I skated with that guy!’ Built on the same game engine and featuring Spider-Man as a secret guest character, this is a worthy candidate for canonicity.
Tumblr media
Spider-Man (Game Boy Colour) -  While it’s similar to the PS1 release, it features a different story involving Venom escaping capture by Doc Ock. Doc Ock’s plan involves experimenting on Carnage to gain control of the symbiote for himself. If you want to consider this one canon, placement is difficult and depends on whether you believe Cletus Kasady dies at the conclusion of the Spider-Man PS1 game story. If Cletus is alive, it’s conceivable that the symbiote returned to him prior to Ock’s scheme in this game. I doubt Carnage would be willing to work with Doc Ock after being experimented on against his will. Therefore this games best placement is after the original PS1 game. In fact, it must take place after all the others, as Ock is back out of prison. The appearance of Monster Ock twice in the franchise seems unlikely but not impossible. If Otto got a taste of the power of the symbiote at the conclusion of the PS1 story, perhaps that’s his motivation for the experiments to control the symbiote. His ego wouldn’t allow him to be controlled like that again. You can view the story here.
How’d I do? I love this game with all my heart. I’d love a remaster, even though I know it’s basically impossible.

So I just learnt that the voice actor for Venom in the 2000 Spider-Man game, Daran Norris, also voices Timmy Turners farther in Fairy Odd Parents. How I never noticed this at first despite growing up with Fairy Odd Parents amasses even me.

Imagining Miles and Gwen walking hand in hand down the street and witnessing something cool, like someone zipping past them on an awesome motorcycle. Gwen whistles and says with all earnestness "That's choice" and Miles gives her a big side eye, and Gwen goes like, "What? Oh do people not say "choice" in your dimension?" Miles goes "No they did. In 1995."

Long ago, I had this idea for a "Spider-Man" HD collection, which would've featured "Spider-Man (2000)" and its underrated sequel "Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro", which to me feels like a cult classic. What I feel both games should've had at the time is a 2-Player mode where one player is Spider-Man, and the other player is either Venom, Black Cat, or Daredevil (Don't know about Human Torch, The Punisher, and Captain America).
For competitive multiplayer, the training mode levels can be reworked so 2 players can compete for who can collect the most Spider medallions within a time limit or race to the end of a level.
For cooperative multiplayer, I was thinking that the boss battles from both games' story modes can be reworked so now 2 players must team up to fight the bosses they encountered.
