Replaying Okami and I completely forgot about the boss of Tsuta Ruins in the Agata Forest. Capcom, on what level was this Jorōgumo-Sadako nightmare fusion creature okay? Who pissed the creature designer off enough that they created this, and the project head enough that they signed off on it? Or did the whole team just start having nightmares that it would come for them if not included in the game? I'm not even arachnophobic and I hate this thing, I hate the way she looks, I hate the way she wiggles.

I would like to remind you that Okami is not a horror game, it's an action-adventure with puzzles similar to Zelda games and an art style between traditional art and Wind Waker's cute squishy character proportions, where you play as a cute wolf. An avatar of Amaterasu, yes, but still a cute wolf who leaves a trail of flowers behind her when she runs. This is your main character for those unfamiliar.

So I saw the prompt on @genderenvyforwaka's prompt list and my immediate thought was the Spider Queen, so here she is! Okay, so I borrowed the idea from @bamboorocket to get this baby done a few days in advance because 1) this was a heccin nightmare to both draw and colour, and 2) I'm a chronic procrastinator 😂

maybe it's because I was still pretty young when I played them (12 and 13 respectively), but no video game moment has managed to genuinely scare me more than the Not-Horror games pokemon platinum (the old chateau and its music), and okami (the sunken ship and its all of it).

I love how how she came out, a huge inspiration for the design was the Spider Queen from the game Okami! As much as i adore her canon design, I decided to go more creepy spider esc for Mutinis Big Mama. I decided to make her human forms face as a mask to give her an angler fish esc vibe!

i love watching n playin different games n tv shows bc im so tuned into the overused soundbites like. my gf and i have been watching teen wolf and they literally have the same growl n howls that skyrim uses for werewolves. and i just heard a shriek in omitb thats the same shriek in okami for the spider queen girly (ive def heared the same shriek in other shows too just idk where) idk i think its just funny
