maybe it's because I was still pretty young when I played them (12 and 13 respectively), but no video game moment has managed to genuinely scare me more than the Not-Horror games pokemon platinum (the old chateau and its music), and okami (the sunken ship and its all of it).

#like there's been startling and disturbing experiences in other games #but these ones Actually scared me lmao #old chateau I had to mute and the atmosphere was still creepy #okami I was playing at night in my grandparents' spare bedroom and the spider queen encounter got me so bad #I didn't even see her first I didn't know she was there you told me leap before you think!!!#I pulled up the menu and couldn't bring myself to unpause it for 10 minutes 😭#I hate how the ghosts still move with the brush screen up I hateee that #it's very effective but ohhh my god
