I might actually just be several nerdy cats and some Tolkien books stuffed in a trench coat. Come for book/film/video game fandom thoughts, stay for 3:00 am insomnia posts. Will they be insightful or just weird? Who knows? I don't.

i had a dream that time travel was invented and too many people choose to travel back in time to save the titanic from sinking (the question of whether unsinking of the titanic deserved so much attention in the face of human history was the subject of both heavy academic and online discourse), which caused a rift in the space-time-continuum that led to the titanic showing up indiscriminately all over the world’s oceans and sea in various states of sinking.
this caused a lot of issues both in terms of fixing said space-time-continuum and in terms of nautical navigation, and after a long and heavy battle in the international maritime organization it was decided that the bureaucratic burden of dealing with this was to be upon Ireland, much to their dismay. the Irish Government then released an app for all sailors and seafarers so they could report titanic sightings during their journeys, even though they heavily dissuaded you from reporting them given the paperwork it caused.
anyway i woke up with a clear image of the app in my head and needed to recreate it for all of you:

So it's come my attention that there are a lot of students, particularly in humanities and social sciences disciplines, who need to hear this, so here goes:
Do the readings.
Oh my God, just do the readings. I promise, it gets easier once you get into the habit of it.
What makes a good student? Doing the readings. Literally just doing the readings is enough to make you a good student.

What comes from the box is small and delicate, so fragile-looking that Pandora is tempted to hold them in her hands so they can't fly away.
Except there's fury in their eyes and blood on their knuckles, their teeth sharp, ready to fall and fight and repeat over and over again.
Hope is delicate and unbreakable.

Something I've been meaning to do for years is curate all the thousands of photos and trail cam images I have of foxes to create my own easy-to use art reference library and I've finally got started on it!
Got a bunch of catagories
Which are then broken down into sub-catagories
Already got hundreds of images sorted and thousands more to go through so this is going to make doing art SO much easier.
I was wondering if I find somewhere to upload these images online would people be interested in them for art reference? I know how hard it can be to find good references, especially with AI slop everywhere. I know a lot of photographers also don't like their images being used as reference.
If so where would be the best place to upload? Ideally somewhere i can split everything into categories to make them easy to search.
I probably wont upload everything as many of the trail cam images are kinda small/hard to make out without the video footage for reference. Same with any photos that are kinda blurry/out of focus (that doesn't bother me when using my own photos but I know it's not ideal as reference!) Images will generally range from around 600 x 400 pixels up to 1200 as I tend to crop my images smaller to make them easier to store and use.
Some image examples from the folders:
If I do upload them they'll be completely free to use for art references

Let’s say your matrilineal line is fairly consistent and everyone has their daughter at 25. So four women in your matrilineal line are born every hundred years. In a thousand years, that’s only 40 women. Like the math is so simple and yet ? You don’t think about it. So in 2000 years, 80 women. So basically, 0 AD started roughly about 80 mothers ago. That’s it.

Only gif i could find atm, probably due to the Like Like's...
Yeah... but i think I've made my point
So I am currently knitting the Magical Flying Husband a tube scarf. I like tube scarves, they are thick and warm and soft and flexible. And this one's coming out fairly prettily, too! But I have never made one before, and I am thinking, well, I made this one pretty wide--a solid eight inches across, because I want him to be able to wrap it across his head if necessary and those four-inch-wide trendy tube scarves can't even cover your ears right. So I think, I will Ask the Internet what their opinion is on the perfect length for a tube scarf, and I will make any necessary adjustments from there in light of the width.
And the first result is a useful forum post, and the second result is a useful-ish Reddit post, and the third response is a little spreadsheet, and the fourth response...
the fourth response is this
I would argue that this is not a scarf
Also I am concerned by the possibility that the smiling human head is there to entice actual mammals closer to the Tube
#all i see if either a victim or a lure for the like like#scarves#knitting#legend of zelda#ocarina of time#like like#legend of zelda monsters
