Marzo 2022 aproximadamente

Currently filled with a strange and envious longing of those who are fluent in more than one language, who can read and write poetry in more than one language.
(Spanish is calling to me. I will answer.)

Desde jovensita Se acercaba la grúa Pero la vida continua Tengo trastes en el sink Y un perro pa cuidar Con mañanas pa tomar No se parece Pero te lo juro que cada día Se acerca la grúa

Cactus Fruit
Tumblr media
While my name is a flower
I was never meant to make
Or have the power
to create
An orchid blossom in the desert

Because I was supposed to
create a cactus
Nopales
Agave
Pinos y
Huizaches

Shifting from a gardener
to a landscaper
Transitioned to a foreigner
Where people escaped her

So I learned how to grow tunas.
Vegetating comestible fruit
My love feeds the roots
Bajo cada luna
Spikes emerge
Stiff and strong
Pink blushes deeper
Until

Someone who is courageous enough
Enticed with the fruit’s intensity
Will take a bite
Savor its complexity
And divine difficult plight
That brought it life

Simtulating each papillae
For a unique profile
Which another cannot replicate
In soft soils, without smiles.

Anatomy of a russian mutt.
4 pounds of flesh, bones and fur,
4 pounds of charisma, loyalty and comprehension,
1 pound of trust,
1 pound of fear.
Taken from the streets for your heart,
For that we cannot measure,
Chosen as the holy lamb,
For the sacrifice of a nation.
4 pounds of flesh, bones and fur,
4 pounds of trust, love and fear,
1 pound of cables and antennas,
1 pound of an uncomfortable suit.
Taken to a scientist's home,
With a last supper and warmth,
With laughing kids who played with you,
As a singular act of compassion.
4 pounds of flesh, bones and fur,
4 pounds of thirst, overheating and fear,
1 pound of cables and antennas,
1 pound of a space suit.
11 pounds disintegrated in the stars,
11 pounds of national guilt,
11 pounds with a name,
Laika, 11 pounds of shame.
Spanish version.
Anatomía de una mestiza rusa.
2 kilos de carne, hueso y pelo,
2 kilos de carisma, lealtad y comprensión,
Medio kilo de confianza,
Medio kilo de temor.
Recogida de las calles por tu corazón,
Por aquello que no puede medirse,
Escogida como el cordero sagrado,
Como el sacrificio de una nación.
2 kilos de carne, hueso y pelo,
2 kilos de confianza, amor y miedo
Medio kilo de cables y antenas,
Medio kilo de traje y oxígeno
Llevada a la casa de un científico,
Con una última cena y calor,
Con niños risueños que jugaron con ella,
Todo como un único acto de compasión.
2 kilos de carne, hueso y pelo,
2 kilos de sed, calor y miedo,
Medio kilo de cables y antenas,
Medio kilo de traje espacial.
5 kilos pulverizados por las estrellas,
5 kilos de culpa nacional,
5 kilos con un nombre,
Laika, 5 kilos de lealtad.
