lemonade mouth/band au! more notes under the cut
lemonade as in like the disney movie! so there are a couple like clear comparisons but mostly it's the bad kids get stuck in detention together except they form a band instead of an adventuring party
fabian > no equivalent (olivia vibes)
the most popular kid at school who is both in dance and on the football team. somehow gets decent grades as well. no close friends, but a lot of people who know him and want to get on his good side. kind of depressed, and his dad's currently in prison. he started playing the guitar as a way to show off and then genuinely started enjoying it
adaine > mo
she's a concert violist (playing the viola) always an accompaniment for her sister and is striking it out on her own for the first time. her family is very upset about this, and consistently puts her down so she'll go along with they want her to do. also she recently transitioned to going to public school for the first time, making her the new girl.
kristen > no equivalent
she's recently ex mormon, got out of her parents house (currently living in her car) and without all of her former friends stuck in a student president position that she got when she was still with the religion. questioning her sexuality after one too many encounters with the soccer team captain, tracker. used to be on the church choir, was a bit too enthusiastic about it.
gorgug > no equivalent (charlie vibes)
he's got like one or two kinda friends (mainly fig). extremely busy with his classes and with marching band and self isolating as a result. he's stressed out about living up to his parent's name (they run a very successful electric engineering company). signed up to work as a sound tech for the theatre department bc one of the female stage managers is very cute (zelda) and then discovered that he rlly like it.
riz > no equivalent
no friends! (other than maybe the AV club + penny) too used to burying himself in work at both his part time gig and with his insane amount of extracurriculars. started playing the piano bc he heard it helps with memory retention and overall cognitive ability.
fig > stella/wen
she's the cool loner skater kid who is the floater friend mostly? she's got a maybe relationship with ayda, who she loves to annoy at the school library. very interested in making her own music not very interested in school. freaking out over her parents getting remarried. her mom enrolled her in music lessons when she was younger, and it's one of the only things she can talk about with her mom these days.

the thing with racism in supernatural is that you can look at any aspect of the show and you WILL find something racist. whether in-universe (where you can additionally differ with hunter culture, monsters+lore, fetishisation), writing, casting, production.
like only scratching the surface of the anti black racism with the casting is like:
90% of black supernatural characters are antagonists with insane potential who got killed off (or ignored in raphaels case) the second they finished an amazing build-up for a character arc (gordon, jake s2, henriksen, uriel, raphael, the vampire alpha)
5% of black supernatural characters are 1-episode side characters or minor characters that had about 2% of their potential used (rufus, missouri, the hunter couple)
last 5% of black supernatural characters had 1-2 scenes where they functioned either 1. as hoodoo/voodoo plot device (playthings, crossroad blues) or 2. random demon (also antagonists)
and this is with black spn characters making up like. 5% of all spn characters

cool fun fact for sunday
East Asia and South of South America are Antipodes meaning that they are in completely opposite points on the globe.
This means that when Acau joins we will have ccs in oppolise places playing together. People who physically could not be further away from each other.
The ones in buenos aires would be the furthest but i doubt Carre will play so I think cellbit or bagi are next. (idk where exactly they live but I'm pretty sure they come from the south of brazil)
Here is a map of the world showing antipodes. The areas in orange are perfectly opposite to each other.

Fast Fauna Facts #14 - Firebrat (Thermobia domestica)
Family: Silverfish Family (Lepismatidae)
IUCN Conservation Status: Unassessed
Like its close relatives the silverfishes, the Firebrat (named for its attraction to warmth which often draws it towards empty fireplaces) belongs to an unusual order of anatomically "primitive" insects that never developed wings, in contrast to most wingless insects which are descended from winged ancestors. Firebrats can be found on every continent except Antarctica and generally inhabit shaded forests where they feed on leaf litter, but like silverfishes they frequently become established in warm human homes where they may reproduce rapidly (with females laying as many as 6,000 eggs throughout their lives in clutches of over 60 at a time) and emerge from sheltered areas mainly at night to feed on any digestible matter they can find - while they prefer sugary and starchy foods such as flour and cereals they may also eat organic textiles, paper, card, dried meats and the remains of other insects, with a diverse community of mutualistic bacteria housed in their digestive systems producing enzymes that allow them to digest almost anything organic.

something about the tiktok ban that i haven't really seen people here talking about is the experience of tiktok users not from the usa, which was, as far as i can tell, on the whole, very positive. it was actually really nice to, for a short period of time, be on a major social media network and able to interact with people across the world without usamericans constantly inserting themselves into every conversation.
usamericans kind of take over people's fyp regardless of where you're from. this is partly to do with the fact that the creators fund is only available to usamericans so most of the shitty content farms are from the us. then there's also the cultural aspect of the fact that being a citizen of the most powerful empire in the world is a significant privilege, and also a privilege that 99% of usamericans are seemingly unable to acknowledge, plus the us centrism and exceptionalism, plus the constant need to cast themselves as the underdog, and, well. it's annoying.
so, like. everything of what i've seen (which is not to say that other opinions don't exist, just that i haven't seen them) is that it was really nice when the usamericans were gone, and it kind of sucks that they're back.
#tiktok ban#<- for those who are (very justifiably) sick of hearing about this#anyway also important to note that 99% of what ive seen has been from europeans canadians and australians#and i can guess that for people from asian african and south american countries it was probably just their feed being taken over by#other annoying english speakers rather than usamericans#and the 'commonwealth tiktok' thing (especially the fact that its referring to specifically uk canada and australia#and NO OTHER COMMONWEALTH COUNTRIES)#is uh. not great!#so im not saying like. magical utopia where everyone was equal#but im just saying that. idk there is no global major social media that isn't overrun with usamericans#and for about a day there was#anyway would be cool to hear from other non-usamericans!#especially if you're not european nor from from a european settler state#question is there a specific word/phrase that would include the citizens of countries like the usa/canada/australia/etc#but not the indigenous people of those places?#and no just saying white doesnt work because in those countries non-indigenous minority ethnic groups are still there under#the authority of a colonial government#and also im talking about privilege along the axis of nationality here as opposed to race/ethnicity#and the question of nationality gets complicated when we're talking about specifically the indigenous people of#an area currently controlled by a settled colonial state#ALSO also in regards to the fact that the whole thing was a trump propaganda stunt#and that there's now censorship of things trump doesnt like#its yet another example of how everyone else in the world gets directly affected by us politics#despite the fact that in this case the social media isnt even a us company#and not to say that it doesnt also suck for usamericans#many of whom voted for harris#but also. at least you got a vote.#the rest of us just have to live with the fact that whoever you guys elect will have a direct impact on our lives#and usamericans just don't experience this. like e.g. british elections have no impact on your lives#but your elections have a massive impact on our lives (and even worse for countries in the global south)

Thoughts about being South Asian in the West
Something that I've just noticed a lot is the lack of South Asian representation in Wester media. Yes, we have Bollywood, which is cool and all, but I want to be able to see an adult Indian person on the screen go through some of the struggles that I do as a Desi American. That would just be nice. There is genuinely very little in terms of representation in western media for me. If they are South Asian, they're most likely not Sikh. I know there are a bunch of Sikh actors out there. There are people like me, that have my experiences who are talented and would love to be the main character of some show or movie. I want that. It would just be nice. If people are going to come for me and say "oh there aren't that many Sikhs out there", I want you to understand that Sikhi is the fifth largest religion. We are one of the major religions!!! There are so many of us in the US and in the west. We should be able to get our rep too.
