Kal Mystikal presets: Sounds Of Freedom
Kal Mystikal, formerly known as Speng Eyeziz, is a singer, songwriter, and producer from Jamaica, who is now based in Germany. He is a unique artist who has developed a distinctive sound by combining different genres under one roof. His music is a winning combination of hip-hop, reggae, electronic music, and more. He has captured the best elements of all these different styles and combined them into something that feels authentic and relatable. His most recent release, "Sounds Of Freedom," is a great example of what people can expect from him. On the one hand, the song has a lot of energy and a positive impact that immediately strikes a chord with the audience. On the other, there is a more sophisticated side to the production, showcasing the depth of sound and talent as an artist.
Whether you are a fan of old-school rap, reggae, Dancehall, or electronic music with a warm fusion twist, "Sounds Of Freedom" is definitely a great introduction to Kal's work. It is highly recommended for those who enjoy rhythm and lyrics that are positive and inspiring, rather than sticking to the usual clichés. Unfolding over the span of slightly over 8 minutes, the track brings a soothing beat and some amazing saxophone leads to the mix, which really merge well with the effect-laden vocals, adorned with beautiful reverberation effects. With such a vibrant array of sounds, Kal takes it to the next level because he wants his music to not only bring some good times to the audience but also to inspire people and contribute to making a change in their lives for the better. After all, music has a lot of power, and a song as inspiring and immersive as "Sounds Of Freedom" could indeed motivate people and start them on the right path. As the title of this release suggests, this new work is all about celebrating the importance of freedom and trying to let go of the shackles that might define our daily routine.
After all, Kal's story is truly unique, and a special example of what it means to keep following your dreams. At 16, he met producer Kofi Dunbar and began recording at Corner Street Records. He eventually ended up moving to Germany at 26 and started his own label, Eyeziz Music, which is now known as CMA Records. Since then, he collaborated with German musicians Ital and Tony, and recorded songs like "Freedom Must Come" and "Where Would I Be." This latest release is yet another step forward in his musical journey!
Sonically, the mix is excellent. The quality of the song is very professional and every single element stands out. The drum pattern drives the song without ever overpowering it, while the synthesizers provide extra melody and depth in a very organic way. And last but not least, Kal's fantastic vocal performance really tops it off. The singing is like the DNA of the song, and his flow is very recognizable, especially on "Sounds Of Freedom."
If you want to learn more about Kal Mystikal, listen to "Sounds Of Freedom," which is currently available on some of the best digital streaming services.

Ngl, some people's "I wasn't allowed to be an irredeemably evil shitbird, ergo Veilguard is not an RPG" argument is extra funny to me, because I don't actually think there is a conceivable narrative in which, if your Rook did something as objectively amoral as selling people into slavery, they wouldn't wake up the next morning floating untethered in the raw Fade with Neve's bootprint on their ass, and the Lighthouse no more than a distant blip on the edge of their vision.
Like there is a lot to get into here that I just don't have the time or the spoons to go through, but I'd argue that one of the biggest strengths of Veilguard's writing is that the main cast are all very well-defined characters with their own sets of morals, ethics, and goals, and they collectively have more than enough of a backbone that if Rook did something that proved them incapable of leading the team to the story's climax and/or proved them to be of no benefit to them, they wouldn't fail their quest: they would just swiftly and efficiently get rid of Rook.

Since tumblr won't us post just the A03 link and I desperately cannot stand a short, bland post, I suppose I'll be trying to post some sort of character and/or lore sheet per chapter of A Reign of Shadows. Starting off with these two birbs. Anyways, chapter three of A Reign of Shadows is up here!

So many of Riddle's outfits imply the shilouette of a dress or skirt while always keeping him in pants and everytime I see it I can't help but imagine some designer sitting over the design sheet holding back tears as they add a line in the middle to make pants
New TWST oc, the designer for all the character's outfit and they're in constant agony because all the pretty dresses/skirts they make end up turning into pants or shorts

They praised Cuties
They stayed silent on Weinstein for decades
They hung around with Epstein
They defended Polanski
They ignored Balenciaga
But they actively attack sound of freedom because the film based on a true story “supports dangerous conspiracies”
Hollywood is doing a real good fucking job at disproving the conspiracies

but yeah rayllum strolling into the starscraper like "yeah we want this super secret powerful weapon so we can kill an imprisoned elf. yeah he's totally evil we promise. we have his prison in your bag. also can you give us your equally rare gem stones to free these three other elves + human who looks like a dark mage, who we promise are totally not evil. we also have their prisons in our bag. yeah the same bag. you're 100% gonna give us the stuff, right?" is funnier to me than it should be

We interrupt your regularly scheduled content consumption with this additional supplementary content: 'Gates of Steel' from Devo's 1980 album ''Freedom of Choice''. The most popular song from this album is hands down 'Whip It' but what's popular doesn't equate to what's best (the determination of which is generally subjective). I rarely have patience for 'Whip It' whenever I hear it because of its ubiquity in any 'best of the 80s' music rankings (I don't dislike the song, it's just a bit threadbare for me do to overexposure). It's just one of those songs, songs used as a shorthand to define an era. The thing is those cultural mythologies rarely feel authentic and seem like a superficial glaze composed of nostalgia, mass marketing and a truncated rendering of revisionist musicology. 'Whip It' is now a quintessential '80s song', a satirical critique of consumerist culture and American optimism that became an object of the very cultural practices it denounced (how many ads have used 'Whip It' to sell mops or toothbrushes or *insert product here*). American listeners actually thought the song was about masturbation and/or sadomasochism* and it's been proposed as one of the reasons it caught on with listeners (never underestimate the ability of American audiences to miss the point most of the time).
Some music critics have called 'Whip It' the birth of American synth-pop. I don't know about that. I do know that 'Whip It' remains Devo's biggest hit. I also know that it wasn't the song that grabbed my attention nor is it a song I revisit whenever I decide to listen to ''Freedom of Choice". The song that did get its hooks in me was 'Gates of Steel'. It's a song that feels like a blend of the old Dadaist Devo and the new synthpop Devo that ''Freedom of Choice'' gave birth to (which also gave birth to the bright red ziggurat-shaped hats they called “energy domes” that became part of their signature aesthetics). As I often say whenever I write about a song I dig, it just works for me and remains one of my favorite Devo songs. *it should be noted that after the Warner Brothers pushed the single 'Girl U Want' hoping for a hit only to have that push fail, the Florida DJ Kal Rudman (a natively born Philadelphian, a fact I'm adding here unnecessarily) decided 'Whip it' grooved and started playing it regularly. A few months later, 'Whip It' was being played on a bunch of southeastern American radio stations and became an unexpected hit. The satire of the song, as mentioned above, was lost on most listeners and the mistaken sadomasochistic intent became the dominant interpretation. This fact amused Devo who stated that it was further proof of "devolution". They decided to make a video that blatantly fed the popular misinterpretation of their song, a video that played heavily on the nascent days of MTV (which only reinforced the song's popularity and probably helped cement its legacy).
TL;DR - 'Gates of Steel' is a song I suggest you listen to for reasons.

(while i am crumbling into pieces from cramp pain)
back when they announced the totk masterworks book i said i wasnt happy about it bc it would either
prove they thought all this was good from the start and everything went as planned
show us that they had unbelievable better ideas and plans but for some unknow reason scrapped it all
as it stands now with the concepts i have seen ... they somehow did both, some things seemed to have been planned fro mthe start (the whole focus on sonau/zonai stuff for example, which i personally just dont like bc i liked them better as an unkown mystery you never get to meet) and other stuff (like ganondorfs concepts, or the infinitely cooler castle in the sky esque concepts for the sky islands, instead of some nonsensical, meaningless little stone crumbs) was much, much more interesting initially (together with the interviews that said they initially planned to have the battery be a magic meter and make the sonau more magic than tech- but then decided to build their stuff around modern electrical devices just so players would immediately know what it was an what it would do -why????? thats so boring?? and unecessary ?? and they still give you tutorials for it anyway, multiple times??!!- for some ungodly reason)
it makes me more and more sure that this game, that took 6 years to make with most assets already being there (the same time that botw took to make?????????), went through a similar development hell as that one final fantasy game did where the director decided to make it an entirely different game every few weeks bc he saw something cool in another game-
its the only thing that makes sense to me, why else would it be so weirdly ... unfinished, its full of grand ideas badly executed, or like i said in a previous post, like an alpha build (weird! did someone in charge also see cool stuff every few months and decide they wanted it in there too no matter what so everyone had to scramble to try and put it in making the whole jenga tower fall over and over??), just to test how far you can push things, with placeholders everywhere, the same cutscene pasted in where another should be and a placeholder reason to get players to go soemwhere (fake zelda) and rough ideas for puzzles etc, that was never finished, jsut highly polished (in looks, sounds and presentation) in hopes of it being 'good enough' or players not noticing (like, take the underground for example, the idea itself is fantastic and cool as fuck, but its feels like an idea that was never finished and just barely fileld with some things to try and cover up the fact that it was never done, like a statue that wasnt done being carved but ran out of time so they painted it anyway- take the base map and invert it, put some easily accessible points of jumping down into it in random spots to test if the game can handle it- no time left to actually get that idea anywhere more specific and well thought out/put together, so its left like that, put the same texture everywhere, barely modified copies of the same enemies, and some little reward spots that make no sense, modelling three types of trees and an enemy camp is way quicker to do than actually making an entire new map (they didnt have to make it the same size btw, just make it big but unique caves, put the gravity effect down there in enclosed spaces! makes it less weird to have randomly happen in the sky! etc) but its there!! its in the game and if they are lucky most players wont go down there enough to notice how meaningless and unfinished it all is)
knowing they would most likely never admit to it though, probably bc of their reputation, is just addign to the frustrations i have with it :I
(i just hate to not know the reason for things, if the devs, who are usually the ones being worked to the bone for things they know arent good, where put through that bc some executive big shot threw their tables around every so often or neglected their project bc they wanted to focus on something else first ... id like to know, i dont enjoy making up these conspiracy (?) theories .......... but i cant shake this feeling, its jsut makes no sense)
