FROM MY TIMELINES CONCEPT
Boy, am I falling in love with this paring idea. In the first iteration of the timeline, Ganondorf slays the hero - whose soulforce laid incomplete when separated from his shadow - in which Ganondorf extracted him within the Sacred Realm.
Instead of attempting to take the demon king by surprise in a last effort - Zelda implores Dark to return the master sword and turn back time in order to rewrite it.
In Timeline 2 - Sheik and Dark must work together to prevent the end of the Hero.
"I love to hate you"
"I'll take all of you. Any day."
----
I love the idea of exploring the shadow self - especially in such a weighted story like OOT. Imagine if Dark Link was exactly that - his extracted self - the accumulation of all the anguish, suffering, and anger Link has and will go through - as shattered as the timelines themselves.
Of course, there would be a part of him that was angry with Zelda -how could one not be a flurry of mixed emotions? Such begins their complex entanglement of destined souls - and the beginning of the Fierce Deity.
(YES YALL - I HAVE A FICTHEORY that ties in all timelines, Dark Link, and the Fierce Deity)
Watch the Timelines

This new piece is called "Protect the Power" and it's about embracing your inner vision, shining your lantern, channeling your power...I suppose it represents many things. ☀️💫All I know is thatI used to fear & doubt my "power" but now I feel driven to use & protect it, no matter how many obstacles may distract me. 🕳Those are what the pierced holes represent, which was made by poking a pencil through the paper. (Which I know kinda looks like gunshots, but that wasn't my intent...) ✏️Materials wise, this is a collage with some colored pencil. And that yellow paper through the opening? It's actually a yellow post it note. Because that is definitely the color of my Motor!🌟 . . . #art #illustration #collage #lauraleegulledge #selfportrait #arttherapy #power #vision #light #lantern #motor #yellowpostit #overcomingobstacles #shineyourlight #innerfire #innerstrength #innervision #soulforce #protectthepower #resilience https://www.instagram.com/p/B5_SBANlbZi/?igshid=n62vcm5fxjoq

Daily Awareness💚✨
•
~ Standing in our power can be easier said than done. For me it has always come at a cost. With my brothers and my sisters (both literally and figuratively) I’m often seen as too much. With lovers the same song has been sung, only the end is way more final. For a long time, I always wondered what was said in rooms I wasn’t in with people I love. Scary shit. But I’ve learned to wonder less and trust more. I’ve also learned that everyone I love, isn’t necessarily gonna love me and that’s okay. So I continue to stand in my power and take up space. I understand I’m not for everyone, I’m not trying to be. Stand in your power and know that anyone who is supposed to be there will remain. How will you stand in your power?✌🏾🤟🏾🍬~

Student Spotlight: Gena
{Genuine Poetry}
Hi Gena, tell us your preferred pronouns and a little bit about yourself!
I don’t really have preferred pronouns; for myself, being genderqueer, I use all three (i.e He/Him, They/Them, She/Her) it changes on a day to day basis. To make it easier for friends to figure out what pronouns to use, I have “pronoun pins” that signify what pronouns I’d like for that day!
A little about myself: I’m 20 years old and I grew up in Fullerton, CA for the first 18 years of my life before moving on campus at Biola University for college where I studied Psychology before taking a break from my education. I now live in Whittier, CA and travel as a professional poet around Southern California to speak/perform at schools, churches, and events. I am also becoming a public advocate for LGBT+ and mental health issues--things I am incredibly passionate about!
How did you first get into writing poetry, and what do you usually write about? I first got into poetry during my junior year of high school. I had some exposure beforehand with my high school english classes but it wasn’t until a friend showed me a Shane Koyczan poem, “Instructions for a Bad Day”, that I really started to get into the Spoken Word world. From then on I was just writing for myself as a coping mechanism. When I visited Biola University, as a prospective student, I saw a performance by a couple artists in the poetry club and I knew that’s what I wanted to do. Since I started off using writing as a coping mechanism, I usually wrote about what was going on in my mind and my life. It wasn’t until I was a student at Biola that I really began to explore different topics and found that God was leading me to write about mental illness and my own sexuality.
How do you see your spirituality interact with your identity? My spirituality and identity are intertwined. I wouldn’t be where I am today without having focused on my spirituality to get through life. While I lost family and friends because of my identity, I always have God by my side to keep going!
How do you use poetry as a medium for expressing spirituality and identity? Why are these messages important for your audiences? I use poetry as an expression for my spirituality and identity in a way of communicating what I can’t necessarily put into regular conversations. While I can sit down, one-on-one and express and explain what I’m feeling and what I may be going through at that time, it’s a lot easier for me to put pen to paper to say what I really want or need to say. This makes it important for my audiences as well because poetry makes an interaction much more intimate and personal. While having an actual conversation does the job, sometimes poetry (and other art forms as well) can create that extra step towards understanding a person’s identity and spirituality.
What does spiritual violence mean to you? To me, spiritual violence isn’t just a simple thing to explain. Spiritual violence, in itself, is a very broad topic that applies to many aspects of a person’s life and can affect everyone differently. For myself, I recognize spiritual violence as anything that attacks, manipulates, or control a person’s identity or beliefs. This can come in the form of direct violence or even microaggressions and such that put a person down. Spiritual violence is such a powerful tactic to break someone and more people need to recognize this type of violence to put a stop to it!
What has your experience being a queer (or however you identify) student attending a Christian college been like? My experience attending a Christian college and being queer is a little mixed; while I found so many amazing and accepting friends and people, I also found those who fought back. I’ve dealt with the homophobic comments and actions as I would have anywhere else. While sometimes it may become too much to handle, I relied on the accepting community I had found. While it may be difficult to find an LGBT+ community on a Christian Campus (I didn’t find Biola Underground until my second semester), I can assure you that they are there within the student body. I’ve also found different professors and staff members that are LGBT+ friendly and allies that can help with creating a better community as well. Looking back, I’m still glad that I had my experiences at Biola because it strengthened every aspect of my life including my own identity and faith.
What is the importance of organizing a national movement of youth that resists spiritual violence? This is so incredibly important! Youth are so impressionable by even the littlest of things, and by recognizing and resisting something, such as spiritual violence, will help all generations (both current and future) to become better at dealing with and stopping spiritual violence!
How do your poems and the work that you do with Biola's Slam team fit into that movement? My poems and working for the Biola’s Slam team bring awareness to the fact that a queer community exists in the Christian world. This is important for everyone (including non-christians) to know. While most times, when I’m working on campus, it may be subtle but I’m still there to represent another community. My poems, outside of campus, bring awareness to people that you CAN be queer and Christian and that we are just as important and faithful as others with the same faith. It’s incredibly important because queer Christians are still being shunned or attacked by both communities and by furthering this movement, we may someday find that peace between LGBT+ and Christian people.
Lastly, if you could pick one person you wanted to see in your audience, who would it be? This is always a tough question! While I want to say something super cliché, like my favorite poet (Andrea Gibson) or a certain family member (also an important choice), I would want to see someone who needs to hear what is being said. Someone who needs to find that one thing they can connect and relate to within their lives that they may be struggling with. I want to see someone who takes what I have to say to heart and it changes their lives. Either for better understanding of the communities or even to better understand themselves. Someone to realize that there is someone out there who understands what they’re going through and how hard it may be to keep moving forward. I want to see someone who decides to live or to stop hurting themselves and instead find someone to listen or to help with whatever they may be struggling with in their lives.
Check out some of Gena’s poetry here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuK1Vd0iBRo&t=36s !

Belleanna - an elder daughter in the Desonai Dynasty - serves as a member with brilliant energy work skills. Despite Hannah's status as head heir - Belleanna is heading to be the top candidate as the next Empress of Ttaigo.
Those who can develop the crown light and the most complex one - is deemed most enlightened and worthy to hold the energy of Ttaigo.
Belleanna's gift is Pulse - alighting the energy of the ether to her conduction of it. As her pinpoint aligns, her charge grows - alighting the veins on her arms before lightning strikes.
With her advancement to awakening - she exudes an aura of regality - as well as an iteration of maturity of the Desonai spirit. Thus, she is both empathetic to Liannah's first indulgences into existence and respecting of Hannah's dedication to seriousness in success.
She is often a stern reminder to both sisters of where they are falling off track.
"And what is your authority on depriving Liannah of an authentic connection with this realm?" - Siding with Nenohk when Hannah demands he make distance.
BONUS TIDBIT: Ttaigan and Desonai Naming of Daughters
It is custom to name the daughters of the dynasty with the infix of "nna" - which signifies the individuals' proximity to their Mother's status of a successful dynastic position. This naming convention implies they've likely inherited a strong connection to Desonai's vein of higher universal energies.
Daughter of the Desonai dynasty who achieve enlightenment through the awakening of the Desonia spirit within them - will ceremoniously alter their name to include the Orasae indicator (AE).
For example: Sarenna became Saerenna when she fully realized her celestial identity and purpose to bring forth Liannah - the soulforce of Orasae who is tasked to perform balance upon the realm with the power of their Absolute Light.

Gay Winnie Pride Buttons from Haus Witch
Our favorite witch is celebrating Pride all day every dang day! While we're excited to party in the name of queer love, violence against the LGBT+ community for the sake of Christian Supremacy is still a harsh reality. In this spirit, all proceeds from these buttons are being donated to Soulforce, a group that sabotages Christian Supremacy through radical analysis, spiritual healing and strategic direct action. Calling out Christian Supremacy means recognizing that the struggles against white supremacy, capitalism, and (neo)colonization — to name a few — are intricately tied to how certain sectors and expressions of Christianity are driven by power, not justice.

I talked about Leviticus for 3 hours with a Baptist preacher, this is what I learned
I talked about Leviticus for 3 hours with a Southern Baptist preacher. It was a sunny spring day and this charming young preacher sat across from me on a wooden picnic bench as we went back and forth discussing the ins and outs of Leviticus. Who was Leviticus written for? What parts, if any, still applied to us as modern Christians? What was the original Hebrew for Leviticus 18 and did it apply to gay people? We talked about other prohibitions in Leviticus — from mixed fabrics to menstruation. At one point, he offered that maybe meat eating was a result of the fall that he really shouldn’t eat meat. That even though it was “allowed” because of Peter’s vision, maybe it “wasn’t God’s best intention” … but then, he brushed it off (of course he did). As the sun began to set, it started shining in our eyes. There we are, squinting to see each other, squinting to understand each other. In 2008, I was working for Soulforce — an organization dedicated to ending Christian supremacy — and we were visiting Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary as part of the Equality Ride. It was one of thousands of conversations I’ve had with anti-LGBTQ Christians across the country since I first got involved with activism in 2007. When you argue about the clobber passages, it always goes about the same. That day in 2008, I resolved to never debate Leviticus again.

Copy of In Honor of Dr. King
Greetings All You Mavens of Cloth,
I hope you enjoyed a long, creative, holiday weekend, and were able to soak in the spirit of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. in some way, shape, or form. I mentioned that this week's blog post would be dedicated to Lady Liberty in the run up to the inauguration. But I failed to factor for the MLK holiday at the time. So, I'd like this post to pay homage to Dr. King. And that's what it's going to do (blogs are nice this way: you really can be the queen of your own domain).
So, Lady Liberty will be on-hand next week, with some truly wonderful examples of her influence stitched in cloth, along with a feature on the upcoming Million Women March in D.C. (this Saturday, January 21), and marches happening in sister-cities across the U.S. that same day.
In the meantime, enjoy this collection of art in honor of Dr. King. And a few other quilt-related gems in solidarity with and celebration of our African American brothers and sisters.
See you on the way to the mountaintop.
A-
In Honor of Dr. King
"All we say to America is, 'Be true to what you said on paper.' If I lived in China or even Russia, or any totalitarian country, maybe I could understand the denial of certain basic First Amendment privileges, because they hadn't committed themselves to that over there. But somewhere I read of the freedom of assembly. Somewhere I read of the freedom of speech. Somewhere I read of the freedom of the press. Somewhere I read that the greatness of America is the right to protest for right. And so just as I say, we aren't going to let any injunction turn us around. We are going on.
Well, I don't know what will happen now. We've got some difficult days ahead. But it doesn't matter with me now. Because I've been to the mountaintop."
Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. from his "Mountaintop Speech," delivered April 3, 1968, Mason Temple, Memphis, TN.

One Final Note:
For anyone who missed the opportunity to reflect on Dr. King yesterday, I recommend meditating on this thought provoking episode, "
The Spirituality of Peacemaking," produced by PRX, as part of their series, The Power of Non-Violence. It aired yesterday on my local NPR station. And I was so grateful to find myself at home hand-quilting an old top when it came on. The act of stitching while listening to people speak on the transformative power of what Dr. King referred to as SoulForce, was nothing short of a gift.
