So happy to show progress on the label project! Here are some pictures of how it's looking right now!

Updated our home page! We will be working with @/a-very-confused-dragon on this project! :D

We've changed the name of the project from Alterhuman Sublabel Hub to Alterhuman Hub! Because I want it to be a hub for everything, as well as our blog being a hub for everything that can help you out on your identity and stay on the community but majorly focused on label finding and archiving!

I am thinking of opening up for help with research through a community discord, but what do you guys think?

Generally tho, I'm not sure how to answer this bc i rarely think of my characters' gender or sexuality.. it's probably due to my own feelings about gender fluidity, but somebody could view all the creatures in my art as trans if it makes them happy, they're all definitely queer!

The only difference i could make is always trying to depict them as "visibly trans" which I'm not certain is genuine, since ppl's bodies/genitalia can be anything? but yea my redraw of the unicorn in captivity (it's still a wip) does show chest scars as well

Yes!! I had a minor Identity crisis because when i started this comic I was both homeschooled and in a very verryyyyyy bad household situation. I left that situation and like-- I was overwhelmed. I started public school after basically being isolated my whole life. Like i seriously had like 5 friends and I only saw 2 regularly (like once a week)

So I got really overwhelmed and stopped feeling artsy at all. Because frankly I was burnt out. I started productive therapy and am trying to like give myself time and stuff-- be a better person and focus more on the people around me and growing and stuff.

It's really weird coming out of a situation like that and wanting to draw because art was all I was, it was my outlet, and it allowed me to be entirely happy in that dimension of my life. But I had to re-learn my relationship with art because that was still an odd connection to like, entire escapism.

I know I want to continue the comic eventually but for the time being, I'm still just working on myself and my AP art stuff. It's difficult lol. Cus being homeschooled (if i wanna call it that because honestly I was not educated properly until recently. Or vaccinated. I had to get vaccinated in full at 17. yeah.) and then going to public school. It's entirely different. How i spend my time is a lot more valuable now.

I'm very thankful for the people I met through fnaf though, a lot of yall got me through a very tough time in my life and supported me without knowing it. I love this comic and this section of the community. Yall are the bomb 💖

Hmm- I did some art today for a quest over of SV!

Meet the Bancho Breaker! A suggestion I spent... 3-4 hours on both writing and drawing oh my goodness. But it's a magical girl wand/bat that had a few modes!

Bancho Breaker: Hidden Mode The Bancho Breaker's everyday non transformed state! This upgraded version on your trusty Bat has a bunch of useful features to help you achieve your heroic activates with higher success! (Transformation): Like before, your weapon is also the item you use the transform into your alter ego Bancho Lily! (Mode Change): The Bancho Breaker, when Transformed, has 3 separate Modes it can take. It will Default to Hammer Mode when Transformed, but from there you may shift whenever. Be careful though, there is a Cooldown before the Bancho Breaker can Mode Change again. You can Mode Change by activating an Emergency Change during Cooldown, but that risks either Locking you to that Mode or even Breaking Bancho Breaker entirely. Use this feature at ones own risk. (Bound): The Bancho Breaker has gained the ability to always be near. You can "put it away" and pull it out of a sub-space pocket at your will for easy transport or concealment of your weapon. It can also, if either lost or knocked out of your hand be called right back to it (Like a certain Key based Sword). Do keep in mind this function does take a few seconds. (Bancho Limit): The Bancho Breaker has a built in battery called the Bancho Limit! When you deal or take damage, the Bancho Limit will fill. When it reaches it's cap, you may use up that charge to perform a Bancho Limit Release! This will allow you to activate the super move of one of the other Modes of the Bancho Breaker. Hidden Mode does not have a Bancho Limit Release. The Bancho Limit can only charge when you are Transformed. (Stealth Mode): Sometimes you may be in a situation where going all magical will not be a good play, mostly in situations where Stealth is required. In these situations, you may engage Stealth Mode, allowing for the Bancho to Transform without you becoming Bancho Lily, lowering the amount of magical presence you have considerably. You may at anytime Transform yourself while this mode is active. The Bancho Limit Release cannot be activated unless you are Transformed; if the Bancho Limit it full and this is attempted, Transformation will automatically Trigger.

Bancho Breaker: The Hammer (Default) The Default Mode of the Bancho Breaker when you are Transformed. It appears like a stylized bat, but as you know it's ability to deal out Justice is rival to none! (Compared to other bats) Bancho Limit Release: Bancho Empower! Due to the dynamic plating on the Bancho Breaker, when activating this Bancho Limit Release your next attack, be it a normal strike, finisher, or other, when using this Mode effectiveness is doubled!

Not to mention~

Bancho Breaker: The Brick A defensive mode of the Bancho Breaker. It gains two metal plates upon two sides and another handle on a third form better grip. While the Brick Mode can be used as Hammer Mode, allowing for more slicing attacks that may not be as effective as before, it primarily can be used as a Shield, allowing for incoming attacks against you and your allies to be lessoned in your quest for justice! Bancho Limit Release: Bancho Reflection! Using a rune network comparable to the processor in a computer overclocked to 11 and empowered by the entirety of the Bancho Limit, you may reflect an incoming ranged magical attack! Now that might sound bad, but this also "hacks" the spell your treating like a base-ball, making it entirely under your control! Reflecting a fireball? Well now your able to control right where your sending it! A homing laser or 10? You can tell the mayhem this can cause!

Bancho Breaker: The Nail A ranged mode of the Bancho Breaker. Splitting open and mounting on Bancho Lily's arm, this is capable of shooting out weak projectiles from afar. While very weak compared to other attacks in her arsenal, it allows her to have a ranged option in fights requiring it. The Nail Mode is also able to charge up, and once fully charged, allows for a rocket powered Eagle Punch! Bancho Limit Release: Bancho Shatter! With Bancho Lily's specialization in Defense and a whole lot of power, a reversal array can take that iron defense and turn it into a battering ram! At the cost of making yourself wide open with heavily weakened defense while the Bancho Shatter charges, you can create a powerful beam that while not the most damaging is capable of breaking through iron defenses. With those of similar power and especially those weaker, this piercing effect can completely punch through any barrier of defense in your way. With defenses stronger then yours it may not break through but might create a hole that can be exploited.

In the case of TTS, yes, I really want to! I’ve been lacking writing motivation in general, but I have a lot planned for the dragos and I genuinely do want to continue making content for them! They make me happy, even if I don’t post much about them rn ;w; Violet 4 will be released if I fuckin die doing so—

For Winged… probably not much sobbinggg. I had an overarching plotline for Classic that I know I was totally building up for, with Sci and Noots and Ink and everyone getting dragged into his shiz. But to be completely honest, even then I was a little uncertain about how to go about it?? Not that I didn’t know exactly what happens, but more just having massive doubts that I could pull it off the way I wanted to???

So, like, with everyone throwing all these ideas at me rn, it HAS rekindled my love for the AU, but not to the point of continuing the main main story. You may see one shots in the future, most likely of side plots, but I’m not gonna promise anything ._.

If it isn’t very obvious by recent posting, I’ve kinda fallen out of UTMV a bit… but mostly in the way of like, not reading anything or consuming other people’s content much. I still want to make stuff for the stories I have up currently! Like LAN and TTS, specifically. But, I understand that the absence of new posts is a bit concerning.

I'm going to choose my most recent WIP, In My Heart is a Memory (And There You’ll Always Be)

Since this is a story about a relationship that was primarily at its best point in the past, I took the title for this Childhood friends AU from the saddest scene in the Fox and the Hound.

It made me cry and now you're all going to join me!

Ooo this is really tough, but I think I was pretty proud of this whole scene of dialogue from You Can Only Remember What you Want to Forget (Mean Eddie AU)

"You're sorry?" Eddie finally croaks, his eyes are larger than Steve has ever seen him and his chest stutters once as he breathes rapidly. Steve reaches for the discarded cloth on the counter just to keep his hands from reaching for Eddie.  "You're sorry?" Eddie says again, his voice barely a whisper, "you're unbelievable is what you are". Oh.  Steve sighs and blinks once, twice, before closing his eyes, "I know". "Shut up," Eddie barks, "I'm the one who is trying to apologize and you're being so--" "I know--" "No! Let me fucking talk Harrington," Eddie shouts, and Steve feels his teeth click as he snaps his mouth shut. He braces himself, better to get it all out on the table now, he thinks, let him say his piece and then they can all just move on -he can move on.  "I don't think I ever understood you, how you fit in with this whole group," Eddie mutters, his face tipped towards the floor, he brushes a handful of curls away from his face as they slide forward. "I mean, I watched you in action, you ripped a fucking bat in half man," he laughs but his expression is shuttered, almost blank as he counts off on his ringed fingers, "you carried me out of hell, you listen to all the shit the kids say when they tell you stories, do you know how many people would just tune them out? You cooked for my uncle, you--Robin is your best friend? Robin?"  "Hey,” Steve says sharply with a glare, “layoff Robin, what are you even saying?" "See!” Eddie throws his hands towards Steve emphatically, a wild look in his eyes,”that's what I’m talking about! Thats, it’s--okay it’s not coming out right," Eddie stands up from the stool but stays beside the counter.  He huffs out a small quiet laugh and shakes his head, his eyes never once leaving Steve’s face, "you're just, you're not who I thought man". Steve crosses his arms, wrapping them tightly around his midsection and the Hawkins high logo in faded orange print,"I thought we already had this conversation?" "Yeah well, I actually mean it this time". "...Right,” Steve sighs tiredly, it's laughable really, just how wrong he and Robin had been. 

This whole scene, it's like the final nail in the coffin for Steve and his perception of their relationship, he thinks he finally understands how Eddie actually feels about him, and that all the dancing around each other they have been doing was completely one sided.

Eddie on the other hand, is somewhat under the impression that he was still able to apologize for his earlier sleight even with all of this going on. He stumbles over his words, nervous because he also just realized that the person who ruined his life in highschool, was Not actually Steve.

It's just, I felt like I got so much subtext into a fairly short amount of space and I was so happy with how off the rails this conversation went and where it took the rest of the story!

how did you get into the mbav fandom?

Thank you for asking this question! I feel so honored to be able to tell my mbav story again lol.

Originally when I watched the show air on Disney Channel I would talk about it with my friends on the playground and we would pretend we were vampires and wizards! I vaguely have memories of doing that. In 2015 I created my current Tumblr account and mbav was one of the tags I would casually look through and reblog stuff from along with my other middle school interests. Nothing too serious until I rewatched the show in Netflix and became obsessed. It was the show I forced all my little emo friends to watch with me and would write pages and pages of thought about in my silly little pop culture notebook. It had kind of become the "emo kid" series at my school and with my friends, along with Invader Zim and The Nightmare Before Christmas and such. I would still watch the show religiously every month by myself but I wouldn't talk about it too much, until 2020 happened and I decided to open up the ol' Tumblr account again. I went through all my old tags and went through the mbav tag again, which caused me to find the mbav Discord server and become hyper obsessed with the show again. I did a serious rewatch again and started posted fan content in fall of 2021, which I would've never done before. Before I knew it I had forced my friends to become fans as well and we started a podcast, and now I'm making an multiple hour long YouTube video about it and having a lot of fun. So ig isolation and years of hyper obsession is how I got into the mbav fandom, and it's been a lot of fun so far! It definitely made my 2022 a lot more bearable <3

line cook here. ACCURATE

if you don't get the hate, here's what you don't understand.

it takes up to 2 hours to close down the kitchen.

The last 60-90 minutes before closing time you do almost no cooking because the restaurant doesn't have many people in it and you've already cooked most of their diners.

So if someone walks in during, like, the last hour, the cook is in the middle of an industrial deep clean of the kitchen.

(these numbers can vary quite a bit from place to place but i have worked several restaurants with these actual times and the concept remains the same)

Say the place closes at 10. If you wait til the restaurant is already closed to start all your cleaning duties, you'll be there until at least midnight.

More than that your boss knows that on an average night you can start your clean up as soon as the last rush ends and get out of there around 10:45, even 10:15 on a slow night if you get lucky. That means there are plenty of restaurants where if you do take until midnight the manager is going to come up to you at some point that week and ask you what went wrong that night, and you'd better have an answer.

So this example restaurant closes at 10 pm. The dinner rush ends around 8:30, and shortly after that the cook is going to start getting every single dish possible over to the dishwasher because the dishwasher always gets hit hard and late, and the machine runs for 2 full minutes and only holds so many dishes, so the way that works out is if you wait an extra 30 minutes to give the dishwasher all your stuff it can mean adding like 60 minutes to the end of his shift. And you're gonna KEEP finding shit to send to the dishpit right up until you leave probably.

all these little square and rectangle containers in this cold table have to be pulled out and changed over into new containers, replaced by new full ones, or in some cases filled from larger containers in the back, which can result in even more empty containers to send to the dishwasher.

while it's all pulled apart to do this, you have to clean up all the spilled food and sauce and juices and stuff from the joints and ledges and shelves and drip trays

Once you get your line changed over in this way, and fully stocked, anytime someone orders something that makes use of a bunch of that stuff, you have to restock and re-clean it some. It might already be covered in plastic. Some of it might already be stuck in the back to make room to take apart your cutting board counter to clean. To cook a dish isn't TOO much of a problem at this point, but you're really hoping for zero orders because you still have so much other cleaning to do.

Meanwhile the salad bar and appetizer section and server station and everybody are all doing the same thing. Even the bartenders are stocking olives and lemons and sending back whisks and stir spoons and shakers and empty 4quart storage containers that used to hold the back-up lemons and olives and things. Every section is dumping their must-be-cleaneds to the dishpit as fast as possible because early and fast is the only thing they can do to to help that dishpit not absolutely drown into overtime.

The poor dishwasher is always the last to clock out, soaking wet and exhausted.

Around this time you probably scrub the flat top, which has turned black from cooked on grease and is still about 500 degrees. Line cooks are divided in opinion on water-based or oil based cleaning methods for this, but they all involve scrubbing with (usually) a brick of pumice stone using every ounce of your strength while you try not to burn yourself

you scrub it from fully blackened to gleaming silver and now if somebody orders something that needs the flat top to cook, you can either fuck up your cleaning job or fake it in a couple frying pans and pass that tiny fuck you down to your dishwasher (who usually understands, especially if you help them take the garbage out or clean your own floor drain later)

If there's deep fried stuff on the menu then the fryers have to be cleaned out, which includes straining the oil out into enormous and super-heavy pots full of oil so hot that if you spill on yourself then it's probably a hospital visit and if you slip and fall face first into it it'll be the last thing you ever do.

Then you gotta scrub out the fryer. Like you gotta take the (hot) screen out and reach your arm down into the weird rounded pipes and curved areas (so hot, burn you if you brush against them hot) and scrub off whatever is down there

Depending on your kitchen you might have to do up to four of these. Then you'll have to pour the (dangerously hot) oil back in

oh, and if you didn't dry the pipes and get ALL the water out of the trap and tank?

water reacts with hot oil in a sort of mentos and coke way that can send a tidal wave of oil past the open flame of the pilot light ...HUGE dangerous mess and/or burn down the kitchen if the oil lights up.

Unless! If the oil has been used too hard and needs to be changed, it's time to carry those open topped super heavy pots full of will-kill-you-hot oil and dump them in the barrel outside by the dumpsters so you can put room temp fresh oil in the fryers. whew!

The clean up is not just some light wiping down that can be easily interrupted, is what i'm saying.

You might have to do some kind of walk-in duty (moving around 50lb cases of lettuce and 50lb bags of onions to get to the stacks of five gallon buckets full of salad dressings and sauces to move so you can reach the giant metal pots and bus tubs full of prep and get it all organized and make sure it's all labeled and i have to stop now i'm having flashbacks)

THE POINT IS

by 15 or however many minutes to close, the line cook is doing an intense deep clean and probably has the whole stove taken apart to detail.

For some industrial stoves this means lifting off large cast iron plates that weigh like 20 lbs each and are still quite hot. Whatever metal burners are on there, you gotta take off and clean, you can see here the lines that indicate the large thick cast iron rectangles that sit on top of the burners to allow heavy pots to rest on. Those five (each has one front burner hole and one back burner hole, see?) have to be lifted off and cleaned with soap and a wire brush usually, and then the underneath area also has to be cleaned because a lot of shit falls through the burner holes on a busy night.

if you didn't do it when you did the flat top you have to do the grease trap (which can be like a full five minutes and is always disgusting).. You gotta clean out all the little gas jets in each burner with a wire or something so the burners all flame evenly, and sometimes you have to remove some of the natural gas piping that connects the burners to access where you have to clean.

you gotta clean out the bottom of the oven and the wire racks, and, oh gods, you gotta take down the filter vents from the hood fans above the stove.

See all the lined parts along the top of the wall?

those are hood vents, and as they pull air up they also pull a lot of grease and they have to be taken down and cleaned, then you gotta climb up there and scrub where they go before you put them back...

And then there's the mopping and floor drains and...

Anyway, that's what the line cook is doing when you walk in fifteen minutes before closing and order something that needs to be cooked on that stove. They are doing an entire industrial cleaning of a professional kitchen.

In some restaurants maybe one or two of these jobs will be every other night or even only twice a week, but in many, possibly most kitchens, ALL of these things happen EVERY night. You don't want to leave any food mess that might attract insects or rodents for one thing, so a really good kitchen is as close to brand new as you can get it every night.

IF YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO ORDER SOMETHING ANYWAY, HERE IS WHAT TO DO

open with an apology and ask the server to go ask what the cook would prefer you to order.

Any good server will already know what the cook is hoping for and what will make their line cook go into the walk in and scream. If it's significantly less than an hour to close and they say some variant of "oh anything is fine" they are either telling the lie their boss wants them to say, or they actually do not know what their line cook wants, and you can either use human connection and a conspiratorial just-between-us tone to get them to drop the customer-is-always-right act, or get them to actually go ask the cook.

It might be as specific as "the lasagna is easiest on the kitchen" or it might be a simple guideline like "nothing that requires the flat top" or "any of the sautés are easy" but a good line cook will probably have a system for if they have to make a couple of the most popular items after they start their close, so the answer is likely to include something most people like and you should be good to order that.

but for the love of all that's holy, please only do so at great need. Leave that last 30-60 minutes to the truly desperate and the crew's duties.
