i live 30 minutes from the spanish mediterranean east coast. this summer, there’s been a dragonfly explosion — dragonflies i’d never noticed before. i was stunned by the glittering effect on their wings during every dog walk, like it was something straight out of a summer dream.

i’ve spent weeks trying to capture those golden sparkles on video — waiting for the wind to calm, chasing focus, hoping they’d trust me enough to stay. most of them are the shy type and fly off the second i touch the branch they’re on.

but today, i stood there, face in the sun, getting sunburned just to catch them on film for you all. two of them let me hold their perch in my hand. they stayed, shimmered, and finally flew off like they’d finished their little photo shoot.
