even more on stormbringer
sorry but ever since I’ve read it it’s been rattling around my brain
but like I just LOVE how the book in which we see Chuuya struggle with his humanity so much is narrated by Adam, who is an ANDRIOD/robot?, not human.
LOOK AT THIS QUOTE>>> “People have souls while machines don’t. In that case, what exactly is a soul? What about the last words of his friend? If those words were only uttered because of a formula, then what exactly is it?”
Because Adam feels like a person he has a personality, they were friends.
Adam helping Chuuya decide that even if he isn’t human, it doesn’t MATTER. Chuuya doesn’t need a soul (if he doesn’t have one) to feel anyway. Chuuya finds his self fulfillment in helping his friends. Chuuya has emotions whether he’s human or not and even if he’ll never know, being able to protect those he cares about is enough.
#Sorry but this is another incoherent rant#Also idk how to format stuff to like cut off soo sorry again#I rly love stormbringer#I’ll probably write more#bsd stormbringer#bsd chuuya#bsd adam#i forgot his last name I think he had one but I didn’t write it down in my notes while reading#bungo stray dogs#Also I don’t have an excuse about the grammar this time#But I’m rly bad at organizing my thoughts#・❥・✧・☆

and sparrow's son loves the world so much and loves everyone around him and how can sparrow tell him that the world is cruel? how can he tell him that love will be punished and that cruelty is the only way to survive? normal's love scares him, he loves his son so much but that love scares him. he would do and has done anything for his son but he knows that it has led to his own ruin. and he loves his son but too much love has only ever harmed him and maybe he can take a model from his own dad and multitask.
maybe he can love his son but he hates him too, hates that normal can love and hates that normal can be loved and hates that normal can be so oblivious to the cruelty around him in a way that he himself lost when the world ended. he wants his son to have everything but loathes that fact that normal'll never try. that he just accepts life as it is. the way his dad did, when sparrow saluted henry and went along with the world's end and turned a blind eye to his wife's infidelity.
he sees himself in normal, maybe. maybe he hates that. because he lost himself, that day he lost his father's care and his mother's respect, and he can't bear to see himself lost again. normal needs to be cruel because otherwise he will be crushed and sparrow can't do that again. can't let himself be crushed again.
#dndads#dndads spoilers#i guess?#i'm sorry this is basically an extension of another rant i did on discord. so some points may not make complete sense but#i am so-- [wait i can't say normal fuck] regular. about the oaks#can you tell i think about them? can you tell?? did the art not convince you???#sorry if this is incoherent i am supposed to be writing an essay due in an hour but instead i wrote this.#hashtag no beta (not even myself) we die like hermie#this mainly goes off of the most recent episode and when sparrow told normal he wasn't proud. that whole interaction#yet again the point turns incomprehensible halfway though but we stay silly#also “hate really isn't the right word for what i meant?#like the strength of the word is#but the general sentiment is just left of hate.#idk man#can't stop thinking about them#asdfdhg edit because i just. wrote the wrong name for one of the sentences. oops

sometimes i think of the time i was driving somewhere with my parents and we'd left quite early in the morning and packed lunch. and from about 10:45am my dad was saying "i'm thinking of that sandwich. but i can't have lunch until midday". and he kept saying that about once every ten minutes until literally the second the clock turned to 12 and he IMMEDIATELY started eating his sandwich. normal man.
#plant rant#thinking about this now because i quite fancy my lunch but it's only 11:45 and his words are echoing#^^ that's another thing i think about all the time. the phrasing of that one message in pokemon when you tried to ride your bike indoors#'juniper's words echoed... marni! there's a time and place for everything... but not now'#sorry if this is absolutely incoherent i am about to have a nap but i can't decide if i should have my lunch before or after.#i'm hungry now. i'll have it before#i lead such an interesting life

#very incoherent rant about my week in the tags; sorry for incoherence i hit my head earlier so b s#im just. so d o n e with this week. 100000% done i say.#on monday i was late to work by 20 minutes and had to stay behind for half an hour to make up for it bc the app we use to clock in suuuucks#and i also found out that i lost $40 of my salary bc of said clocking in app which. suuuuuuuuuuucks#though. this week had a weirdly low number of samples. which was. kinda nice ig since i managed to finish all my work before 7pm… but still.#like we managed to finish our stuff so quickly that we managed to watch bee movie together on tuesday………#mmmmmm i don’t remember much about what happened on wednesday though…..#but yesterday. oh g o d . yesterday. thursday. whateverday. g o d.#so the software to operate one of the [lab equipment] machines kept crashing everytime we tried to print results#regardless of whether there were any samples being tested with said machine at the moment. which. y’know#sucks on its own. but it also means that the tested sample had to be reweighed and every sample that came after it had to be reentered again#which was a m a j o r pain in the behind.#so like. after i reran the sample post-first software crash… the boss’s favourite employee freakin’ remote-accessed the computer and#he did the results thing. and crashed the software. while a sample was being analysed. and the entire monitor!!! went!!!! dark!!!! when he!!#so. i ‘calmly’ and ‘rationally’ rushed out to the office area to give him a piece of my mind.#which. may or may not have involved screaming at him and slapping him. it’s too bad that i slapped him so loudly that our boss heard/saw it…#but. um. she didn’t call me out to screech at me in return. she sent him into the lab area to settle his thing himself in fact. so. hm.#i guess i’m able to keep my job for another week. maybe.#it didn’t stop my coworkers from making fun of me for slapping the guy though so b s#anyways ig i got my just desserts today bc i walked straight into the side of the door of an in-workplace bathroom stall at full force#and i think i bruised the side of my head… what goes around comes around ig……#idek what i’m even typing anymore i blame my head hurty for this#inedible blubbering

Leon’s tits appreciation fic ♡
no warnings as usual, just fem!reader. it’s really just Leon’s chest appreciation because damn.
also. a small rant at the bottom of the fic? just a disclaimer btw. it’s nothing triggering me thinks, it’s about Leon so that’s why i’m putting it here i still encourage you to read it.
also this one might be a bit messy i just started taking my new meds and my body is going crazy. i’m really sleepy & dizzy all the time so yeah. sorry if it’s a bit out of my usual style or something ♡
you love Leon’s chest. that much is obvious — because he loves yours too obviously. you two love each other, body, soul, heart and mind. this includes your and his chests. Leon loves sleeping on your chest, and you love sleeping on Leon’s chest, too. it’s common for you two.
but, you definitely love playing with Leon’s chest the most. it’s just so plush, feels so good to touch. Leon’s chest is his soft spot, to say the least. when you touched his chest for the first time, he arched his back so prettily, leaning his head back. his nipples harden under your touch, his body getting warmer and eager for more as his cock grows harder.
“Dear god,”
he sighs out when you touch his chest, and it only makes you grin in return. you rarely get him to such state. sure, he lets out a grunt or two, but this? and he actually blushes. just a tiiny bit, but it’s still a blush! so you decide to take it further, planting little kisses all over his chest, feeling his heart subtly flutter under your lips. Leon is only this vulnerable around you, no one ever sees this side of him — he feels safe around you. safe enough to let himself be the submissive one for once.
Leon is unable to take it anymore. he tugs at your pants, sliding them down along with your panties to expose your pretty pussy to his eager gaze. your cunt is glistening wet, making Leon drool at the sight. he places a subtle slap on your pussy, before repeating it, making you twitch your hips. his cock is hitting against your thigh, wanting to be buried in your warm insides.
“Getting this worked up over playing with my cheee—ngghmh!!” he lets out the hottest whimper one can think of. as he speaks, you decide to shush him, rather effectively. you wrap your lips around his nipple, gently tucking on it while flicking the other one. Leon is actually losing his mind, he’s leaking precum already.
“Fuck, baby, please just let me slide inside you,” he grunts out, guiding his cock to tap against your clit, begging for entry. he’s giving you the puppy eyes, the ones you can’t say no to. besides, with the way the tip of his cock is leaking so much just gets you so eager. once given the permission he almost jumps on you, but you keep him down by biting on his nipple, getting another, louder moan.
“Tease,” he pants out, breathing hitching and getting heavy. he closes his eyes, lips parting slightly, chest heaving up and down. you decide to do something— you push two fingers into his mouth, and he immediately laps at them, sucking them like it’s your pussy that he’s so starved off. he finally guides his cock into your insides, his length already twitching and throbbing as it sloppily moves in and out. he’s mumbling something incoherent to himself, babbling about it feeling so good. this, mixed with you constantly sucking his nipples, kneading his chest while also pushing your fingers into his mouth? it’s heaven. he’s in heaven.
it doesn’t take long for him to cum. in fact, just a few more minutes of you playing with his pretty nipples mixed with your cunt gripping him so well just drives him nuts, cumming inside you after a while. he obviously makes sure to make you cum too— before pushing you beneath him, now cupping your breasts
“My turn, huh? Your chest needs some loving, too.” he says this so confidently, already kneading at your chest.
rant time! sorry guys, today’s one is shorter bc i dont feel so well :( but anyway, here’s my little rant about tiktok and honestly most of the fandom.
i hate the fact that people oversexualize Leon so much. this, and also not understand his character — caring only about his looks. people hate vendetta leon but i literally love this man. he’s fucking beautiful. all the resident evil characters are so misunderstood, oversexualized and ignored. i just hate it, and yeah i know i know — it’s just fiction, sure, but i just don’t like it. i wish more people took Leon seriously because this man is literally so much of a sweetheart, meanwhile people just sexualize him 24/7 :( he’s so much more than his looks. he’s literally so sweet it hurts.
rant over, just wanted to get it off of my chest. i just love him so much and people reduce him to various sex related things. smut and all that is good obviously, i just dislike when people constantly make Leon a completely different character than he actually is. i love both smut and sfw things, but man. tiktok is so full of people misunderstanding Leon, it’s annoying. they reduce him to completely different man — and let’s not even talk about the 18+ audios that they’re posting…. i just.. idk.
anyway. love you all! thank you for reading <3

sorry if this is incoherent but i'm begging people to stop applying christianity's values and moralities onto fictional religions (AND REAL ONES TOO BUT THATS ANOTHER RANT!!!!!) of course the dalish honor and appease Fen'Harel even if they do perceived as a hindrance or something to fear, a lot of polytheistic religions have the concept of gods as not inherently purely good and all knowing in the way christianity views capital g god, plenty of religions saw gods as something to appease or they would fuck your shit up because they could. the greeks come to mind. the dalish both fearing and honoring their gods makes total sense people just cant do the deconstruction to realize christian concepts of the divine are not universal.

SECRET SECRET
K. SEUNGMIN
chapter 1
cw: swearing, fem reader, academic rivals, angst if you squint, both like each other but wont admit it
wc: 1.2k
a.n - welcome to my first full fic !! im super excited to share this and im actually really proud of it. happy reading <3
✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧
You’re sitting at your usual spot in the library on your college campus when a book is slammed down on your table, ripping a yelp from your chest as you practically jump out of your skin. You look up to see a smug grin splayed on full, pale pink lips.
Brown eyes sparkle back at you mischievously and before he even opens his mouth, you just know he’s going to say something to purposely aggravate you.
“I don’t want to know, nor do I care.” you grumble before turning back to your book.
“Where the Crawdads Sing.” Seungmin hums, “Didn’t know you had taste,” You ignore him and turn the page.
He huffs and plops down in the seat next to you, his knee brushing against yours as he does.
You snap your head up and admit defeat, placing a bookmark where you left off.
“Since you so rudely interrupted me,”
He rolls his eyes in response to your complaint, “Here we go again,”
“Don’t give me that.” you snap, “You came over here unannounced while I was clearly doing something. So tell me, what is it that you want to brag about now? Hm? Perfect score on the English essay? No wait- I know, you’ve finally succeeded in ass kissing every professor in the building.”
The entire time you were ranting, Seungmin sat with his chin in his palm, face angled towards you. His grin never faltered, which in turn only pissed you off more.
You snap your book shut and move to stand before you feel a hand tug on your sleeve, forcing you to sit.
“I didn’t come over here to brag,” Seungmin readjusts in his chair so his knees are poking the side of your bare thigh, the sudden contact sending warmth throughout you.
“I was hoping we could- I don’t know. Maybe we could be at least civil with each other?.”
Your eyebrows shoot up and your eyes widen.
“C-Civil?” you sputter while searching his face for any trace of ulterior motives.
He nods and fidgets a little. That’s when you realize that he’s nervous.
Seungmin is anything but nervous when it comes to talking to you. He’s always confident while spewing whatever insults he can think of on the spot.
“I uhm- I think I owe you an apology.”
“Excuse me?” That’s not what you meant to say.
Though, you’re fairly certain that whatever you were going to say would’ve come out ten times worse.
“Yeah.” he winces, “Fuck- you know I’m bad at this kind of stuff,” Seungmin huffs and runs a hand through his blonde hair.
“I’m sorry for being a dick,” his broad shoulders deflate and he looks like a weight was literally lifted off of him.
“You’re sorry?”
“Will you stop repeating me?” he scowls.
You can’t help but giggle a little, he couldn’t last two minutes into an apology without looking or sounding annoyed.
“‘M sorry. I just,” you bite your lip to stifle another laugh, “I didn’t think I’d live to see the day that Kim Seungmin apologized for- well, anything.”
He grumbles something incoherently and pushes his knee farther into your thigh. You swallow hard and look behind him at the now very interesting bookshelf.
Seungmin sighs and gets up without another word and leaves. You watch as he rounds the corner and slips through the door.
“What the hell just happened,” you blink and whisper to yourself.
After his sudden apology, Seungmin has avoided you for an entire week now. He won’t even spare you a glance. You’re complaining about it to your best friend, Hyunjin, who also happens to be close with Seungmin.
Small world.
“Look, I don’t know exactly what happened but, like, could you maybe talk to him about it? He’s been killing the mood lately.” Hyunjin brings his iced americano to his lips while you form a bewildered expression.
“Me? You want me to talk to him?” you scoff and lean back in your chair, “Why should I have to? He apologized, I listened. End. Of. Story.”
“Why are you always so stubborn,” Hyunjin rolls his eyes, placing his coffee on the table.
“Ridiculous. Absolutely fucking ridiculous.” you huff and pinch the bridge of your nose. Hyunjin gives you an ‘are you serious’ look.
“If I let you put his number in my phone, will you shut up about it?” He grins and holds out his hand for you to give your phone to him. “And you’re buying me another coffee.”
[You] - cheer up
[Intellectual Demon] - who is this?
[You] - jinnie said that you’ve been a real downer since apologizing to me
[Intellectual Demon] - it’s not even that bad
[You] - i can feel the frown radiating off of you rn
[You] - it’s your aura.
Seungmin smiles to himself proudly. After all, it was his idea to get Hyunjin to give you his number.
Now all he has to do is convince you to meet with him. He’s got it all mapped out; you’ll meet with him at his place, he’ll confess, you’ll reciprocate his feelings and you live happily ever after.
The guy gets the girl, like he always does. It’s a simple, foolproof plan.
Right?
“Yeah, no thanks. I’m good.”
Wrong.
Seungmin was so wrong. Immediately after you pick up the phone he’s already hit with a groan and a ‘what do you want now?’ Nonetheless, he pushed through and asked you to go to his place. You declined, which shouldn’t have surprised him, but it does. Seungmin thought that if he apologized all would be forgiven and you would be more willing to speak to him.
Though, he can only blame himself. He fell-and crashed- first, hard. Instead of admitting his feelings to you, and himself, he tried his hardest to distance himself from you, making you find him unbearable to be around. It worked, of course.
Seungmin wishes it didn’t. He wishes he would’ve just grown a pair and told you. He wishes he didn’t feel so unlovable.
You, on the other hand, have attempted to make your attraction obvious. Someone can only take so much rejection, however. You stopped flirting, stopped even looking in his direction at one point. Seungmin made it crystal clear that he wanted nothing to do with you, and now that he’s apologized you can’t help but catch those feelings all over again.
“Please, just- what do I need to do for you to come here?” Seungmin’s voice echoes through your head, bouncing off the sides as you feel yourself slowly start to give in.
You seriously should stop being a pushover.
“Send me your address, I’ll be there soon.” There’s a pause at the end of the line when Seungmin mutes himself and screams into his pillow.

so uh i just rewatched community for the 3rd, and possibly the last, time, and I'm gonna rant about it, especially because it's being taken off Netflix this month.
Community is literally the #1 best fucking show on this planet (with Brooklyn 99 and The Good Place being a 2 and 3), and no one can tell me otherwise. The writing is so fucking beautiful (except the writing of the romantic entanglements within the group, but im sure the fandom knows that already), and can be so funny yet heartbreaking at the same time.
Let's take "Geothermal Escapism" for an example (which to point out how amazing the writing is, has never failed to make me cry at the end of it). The symbolism of the hot lava game, the fact that Troy had to play into the whole "clone" thing just for Abed to be able to cope with him leaving (which proves yet again how much Troy and Abed do for eachother, and yes that *is* one of the reasons I ship trobed, but let's not get off-track more than we already have lol), the group saying all their good-byes at the end, and the way those good-byes characterize them so perfectly, it's literally a masterpiece of an episode.
And the fact that the viewers as a whole were supposed to just forget all of that the next episode baffles me, like make up your mind Dan Harmon, are you gonna make the best show of all time or ruin it by shoving jeffannie down our throats at the last episode???? (sorry, went off track)
Anyways, back to the writing: it's beautiful, but can be so dumb at the same time. Like, another example: "Emotional Consequences of Broadcast Television", a.k.a. the finale, which not only kind of does a call-back to s1 Jeff and Abed (Abed being ready to let go and embrace the future, and Jeff being so against it), but omggg the symbolism towards the end, where Jeff has driven Abed and Annie to the airport, and he's hugging them good-bye, and Jeff goes in for a second hug, because yet again he's afraid of change, and you can tell Abed is confused, but he goes with it anyways, because he gets it (actually I'm making this point based off of a comment under a compilation of Jeff and Abed, but whatever).
Jeff and Abed in s6 is literally Abed and Jeff in s1, and not only then, but literally everywhere in the series, you can tell how alike they are, how their traumas and troubles are so alike, yet they dealt with it differently, one with acceptance and one with denial.
And another point about how the writing can be so dumb sometimes: how can you literally point to jeffannie being an illogical and impossible ship, and literally have both members of this ship finally realize how unhealthy it in the *same* episode as is that ship's kiss scene?!?! Like, how does that make sense.
Anyways, my conclusion to this rant is: there's no conclusion lol, I just wanted to barf out all of my thoughts on this show onto here (and these aren't even all my thoughts on this show lol), as incoherent as they are. I'll miss this show so bad😭😭.

THAT LATEST EPISODEEEE
Okay okay I have many thoughts and I apologise if this is gonna end up very incoherent and disjointed but I NEED TO TALK ABOUT IT BECAUSE AHHHHH
You know what the episode did very well (the writers, man)? Make the audience feel like they're taking crazy pills. There's this almost cognitive dissonance from the rest of the squad (Charles esp) with the way they say and behave because as Rogue stated "none of you were there". This is SO good in showcasing that you can be as understanding as you want, be literally a part of the same group... and STILL it's not enough because you didn't have the (in this case unfortunate) exact experience. The previous episode is a great addendum to this. The rest of humanity's (majorly the big wigs of course but you get what i mean) scared and at worst callous and apathetic reaction to the genocide. They're not scared because of what happened to those mutants, they're scared because of what Magneto would do in retaliation. Cooper is another example of how much actual experience can wholly change a person. She's not a mutant... but she was THERE. Erik and Rogue were there... right in the middle of it. How does anyone expect SOMETHING to not happen. You know who else saw what happened? Us, the audience. The latest episode felt frustrating and cathartic in the best way. It felt like decades of repressed righteous anger spilling in the most messiest manner, but it's OUT there. It needed to be said. Rogue's rant at the group before joining Erik, Erik's iconic "SHUT UP" line (yo lemme tell you istg i said the EXACT thing after that drivel Charles said). That's another thing that was so well done. Showcasing that no matter how well meaning Charles is... sometimes it feels like the dude's not LISTENING (Erik talks about watching a child be eviscerated in front of his very eyes, and I feel like all he's getting from others is an 'aw im sorry thoughts and prayers now can you please CHILL out') and does need this slap in the face. And the consequences keep piling up (the last big thing being what happened to Logan). Nothing will ever be normal and it's sad and scary and I'm very much looking forward to what comes next.
On a small note, showing how Roberto's decision was unsure with him trying to apologise to Jubilee and then his shocked reaction at her not wanting to hear him was so sad. It truly felt like a boy who only realised how massive of a consequence he's facing but just wanting his friend back.
I'm pretty sure I had more things to say and a more thoughtful way of saying them but anyway... 10/10. VERY ANGERING AND FANTASTIC. I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE LAST EP!!!
HI!!! ✨SAME!! 💜💜💜💜 thanks for coming in kicking the door down and shouting my way cause I needed that!! My brain has been stuck on a loop with the events in E9.
I love, love, love this episode exactly because of the strong emotions it made me go through. To see the division, to see where everyone stands, to see what matters most to them: what they are going through or an ideal? It. Was. So. Good! It was skin itching to see it at the same time. Each episode has continued to take me by surprise and go beyond my expectations.
I love how well the writers have been able to portray the difference between people who have been through horrible events, and those who have seen them ‘on screen’. Remember in episode 7 when Amelia said 'a survivor is the last thing I’d wanna be.’? Now it resonates even more than ever. It’s poetry. And yes, Cooper isn’t just someone who ‘saw it Magneto’s way’. No. She was one of the perpetrators caught in the middle.
So that when Scott goes around saying ‘Magneto is responsible for this.’ When Wolverine is out for blood - it should make you angry cause it feels like the crimes that Bastion has orchestrated are secondary to the X-men's agenda of 'righting a wrong'. Bastion is just a battle, another villain they need to defeat. But the call was coming from inside the house all along.
I’ve seen people online saying that this episode did Magneto dirty. But I think it’s the opposite. Magneto had always been capable of awful things in his pain and anger, but that’s not the point the writers are trying to make. The name of the episodes is ‘Tolerance is extinction’ - the whole point is to put the viewer in the uncomfortable position of understanding Magneto’s anger, but knowing his actions have big consequences, all the while making you lose your mind at how backwards and ignorant Charles' side seems. People are dying because ultimately his dream is more important than the people the dream is made for. And Rogue and Magneto are calling him out on it. The beauty of it is that Charles is preaching an ethical way where everyone matters, but how entitled and arrogant he must come across when everyone else around him is just ‘sacrifices he is willing to make’ for the sake of an ideal. It’s beautiful and awful that the cry for battle and survival is coming from the mouth of those that have nothing left but violence in them, while the champions of the just offer shackles and tell those that suffer to endure more for the greater good.
Yes this episode is supposed to make people angry and confused. And I think it succeeds.
If there is one less positive thing to say about the show, it's the pacing. You can feel that they were forced to put everything in just 10 episodes because there are a lot of moments throughout the show that are either missing or rushed. (For ex. in this last episode I would have liked to have scene with Rogue and Roberto on Asteroid M, in a similar fashion to what we got for the two X-men squads; just a glimpse at how things are impacting them instead of immediately seeing them in a 'villain guards' roles.) But I am not going to hold it against the show; from what they've delivered it reads a lot like cuts that they needed to live with.

Ok it’s 2 am right now and instead of trying to sleep I’ve been thinking about how I feel about Usopp post time-skip and his character progression cuz I see a bunch of people have problems with it but I honestly like it. I just want to put my thoughts into the ring
So, most of my thoughts about him base on my own generalized anxiety disorder and how I’ve coped with it. I don’t think people consider that people with anxiety issues will struggle with it for life. It makes sense to me that Usopp continues to have moments where he runs away from the problem at hand despite his personal growth over the time-skip.
Usopp’s character growth isn’t about never running away or being “strong”. It’s about being brave, doing things despite how scary they are. It’s about him becoming more confident in himself and realizing he has a place on the crew.
People probably don’t think that Usopp changes much after time-skip because hasn’t he always been doing this? Well, yeah he has but the difference here is how he copes with the things that scare him. He does that better, and he doesn’t need to use a fake persona like in the past. He can be himself now.
I think the best example is in Dressrosa because of how much time he gets in the spotlight there. The first time he faces Sugar he runs away, but he’s a lot faster to realize he can’t do that than in the past. He accepts the challenge without the use of his Sogeking persona (which is a HUGE step). He gets it done and when it’s time to face her again he isn’t afraid at all. He’s being hunted down by a giant mob and yet he has his eyes on the prize.
The significance to me lies in my own experience. My flight response is so overwhelming that it’s impossible for me to think clearly at first. I’ve only started being able to calm myself down in 10 minutes versus the hours it used to take.
I get like this over things like writing a paper. Usopp gets like that over fighting for his life. I think that makes his actions pretty reasonable. It’s hard for me to exactly put it into words, but the growth for him lies in being able to get focused and stay focused after that initial flight response. I hope that makes sense to other people that aren’t me.
One last thought that’s semi-related. The scene in Wano that everyone likes to shit on Usopp for. Can we stop and think for half a second and realize that he would be acting just like Nami was if he was in her place.
There’s a list of priorities for Usopp when he’s in trouble that’s different for when others are in trouble. It’s something he shares with a lot of other members of the crew. If he’s in trouble in a situation where people are dissing Luffy, he will make up a whole speech on why they’re wrong about him. If another crew member is in trouble, their safety comes first. We’ve literally seen this happen before, why are people freaking out about it?
Plus, it’s not as if Luffy would get mad at him for it. His crew’s lives are more important than his pride. That’s been a thing all the way back since drum island with Vivi telling him to stand down for Nami’s sake. He’s learned that lesson as a captain. So it would make no sense for it to be a problem when Usopp does it. Especially since Luffy’s gained such a deep understanding of Usopp and how his mind operates after Water 7.
Ok rant over. I’m sorry if this is kind of incoherent, I’ve got a lot to say and don’t always know the best way to explain it. I’d be happy to know if other people have thought about this stuff too. Thank you for listening Usopp nation.

Just beat metaphor and I have thoughts
(MAJOR SPOILER WARNING)
(Also sorry if this is incoherent it’s 1am and I have no idea how to words right now lol)
This game had the potential to be the best Atlus game, and all they needed to do was fix the level gap issue between the dragon temple and that one dungeon that I won’t name for spoiler reasons. There was long quest line to seemingly make up for it, but tbh I think the best solution for it would have been to make the Mage Academy its own dungeon.
The mage academy is plot relevant for many reasons (hell, junah ends up working there) and it also hosts the worst boss in the game, the ice dragon. That boss sucks not for the actual fight but for the difficulty spike combined with the inability to buy stuff or grind before it. Having a dungeon there would mitigate both issues, since story dungeons usually aren’t supposed to be completed in one day, so you would definitely have the ability to go to a town and buy stuff.
And in case this would make the game too challenging to 100% in one playthrough, all they would need to do is push the day of the hero back by like 3 days and BOOM it all works
Plus this would give more time to use Basilio in combat before all the big endgame stuff
Another thing: metaphor refantazio strikers please??? Not just yet obvs (the game came out like 4 months ago, I can wait a while) but maybe in like 3 years can we get a silly spinoff game about the gang on their little adventure they take in the epilogue??? Maybe the runners teleportation malfunctions and they get transported to a faraway country where they have to find a way to fix the teleporter? The memorandum and some dialogue mentions that there are other countries outside of Euchronia, Oceana and Montario so it’s defo possible. Also the base game threw Will X Eupha in my face, made me fall in love with the ship and then never expanded on it so some more of that please. Oh and make the final boss of metaphor strikers (working title) the source of the homo tenta, since that was brought up in the memorandum one single time and my whole playthrough I thought it would be important
Alright that’s enough ranting see you later gays

I have really mixed feelings about the Wyliza arc in Re-Animated.
On the one hand, I think it does some genuinely good character work. Exploring their relationship has also led to some really good exploration of them as individuals. We get to see sides of both of them that just weren't really present in the movies outside of like, a handful of scenes, and I think that's pretty neat. I also like that it's them having relationship problems instead of any of the couples that got established in the first movie. I said this in one of my hopes and dreams posts back before the show came out, but I was genuinely kinda worried there would be some weird drama between Zed and Addison or, more likely, Bree and Bonzo that just wouldn't make sense because of how long both couples have been together. So I think that, if they main reason they decided to include the Wyliza arc is so they could have a recurring relationship drama plotline, they at least chose a decent couple to do it with.
On the OTHER HAND, though... Wyliza is so fucking bland I'm sorry. They're interesting on their own, and they have some cute moments, like the scene where Eliza climbs into the dumpster with Wyatt at the end of A Wyatt Place, but they just don't have enough chemistry to justify keeping them together. This isn't even coming from the perspective of someone who headcannons Eliza as a lesbian, I just don't think she has a lot of chemistry with Wyatt. They both genuinely have more chemistry with Addison then they do with eachother. I also just really don't like the mindset people have regarding relationships in fiction... not every single fucking character needs to be paired off with someone oh my GOD- I get that shipping is fun, everyone loves a good ship. The problem is that people treat a character getting into a relationship as the ultimate happy ending. Wyatt and Eliza don't have enough chemistry to justify keeping them together and the only reason they got paired up in the first place is because DCOMs in particular fucking *love* pairing off every single side character so they can have the illusion of a happy ending no matter how little focus their arc actually got. I think a good way to end the Wyliza arc would be to have them realize that they either aren't ready for a relationship yet, or just aren't the best for eachother, and then move on. It would be a good way to wrap up the arc while also sending a good message about relationships! But they aren't gonna do that. Because this is Disney Channel, and appearently nobody is happy unless they're dating somebody in the Disney Channel universe. There's also the fact that the writers are kind of pushing the only established queer couple to the side in favor of focusing on the blandest straight passing couple in the franchise, but tbh I think that's more the censor's fault then it is the writers of the show and I might make another incoherent, conspiratorial rant post about why I think that is later Idk.
Just... yeah. Overall very mixed feelings. Again, I LIKE the character exploration aspects! I think Wyliza episodes usually end up being pretty good character studies, and the way the 2 of them bounce off of each other does help facilitate some genuinely good character growth. I just don't like that they seemingly aren't going to STAY broken up, I guess.

So... about season 3 Aki.
Ok harsh contrast to my previous, excited post, but I did say I had more to yell about episode 75 and I need to get this off my chest anyway. Plus, I remember mentioning in a post that I need to talk about season 3 onward Aki anyhow, so might as well do that now! I am thinking Big Thoughts and I need to Scream.
Long, incoherent, unhinged rant incoming because I have 100 things to say and 100000 screenshots to post, but I am also tired and my brain is mush.
Can we please talk about all the jarringly unfulfilled setup the start of season 3 did for Aki? Because I'm starting to feel an urge to claw at the walls. I'm gonna go through this, piece by piece of damning evidence, because I need to vent my utter confusion and frustration somehow, I guess. Okay. So.
After giving us a bit of time to settle in after the timeskip into the pre-WRGP stretch of things, the itty-bitty portion of the story Aki occupies at this point starts off arguably strong. Yusei gets kidnapped, everyone's in a frenzy about it, but Aki's especially worried.
Then this. Funky new signer powers! Nobody's been able to do this before! I wonder if they're going to do something with that! (Spoiler: They're not.)
Then Aki "no sense of self-preservation" Izayoi gets herself in a bunch of danger trying to rescue Yusei and we get this:
Oh! Wow! Aki can control her powers now! (Which: how. Why did they never show us this. That alone could have made for a whole mini-arc. Why waste that????) That would give the writers so many cool opportunities to let her use them! I wonder if they're going to do something with that! (Spoiler: They're not.)
(Side note: I love this scene. I love it to death. They're both ride-or-die "who cares for my safety when yours is on the line" for each other and I love them.)
Of course, shenanigans then ensue, leading up to Sherry's marvellous introduction.
(Mwah. I blow her a little kiss.)
And it is at this point that Aki Has An Epiphany.
And to top it off, she gets some interesting interactions with Sherry, too!
So Aki resolves that she wants to become a turbo-duellist, too. And the thing is, this isn't a little one-off thing or something they never deliver on. They end up building this up for several episodes, bit by bit. First we get another mention of it at the pre-WRGP press thingy they all attend:
Then it's brought up again when Yusei accepts the first duel against Bruno/Antinomy:
(Also, side note again, but can I just mention that Aki also gets this moment the episode before:)
(Where she literally puts herself directly in harm's way in a public setting to protect people with her powers??? Like, I'm sorry, pinch me or something, but how does that not scream "badass good girl setup"???? HOW?)
So we get at least three episodes worth of buildup where Aki agonizes over becoming a turbo duellist to understand what her friends (but especially Yusei) are feeling when they duel like that, and then they finally deliver on it and episode 75 has her getting her license. And it's fantastic. Seriously. That episode is golden. Not just because it delivers on this promise, not just because it has a really cute moment between Aki and Yusei in it (regardless of how you read their relationship dynamic), and not just because it (as per my last post) showcases how much the rest of Team 5Ds cares about Aki (by literally building a runner for her and accompanying her to her exam and don't even get me started on Jack beating up those jerks trying to make her crash unprompted) but because it gives us just that smidgen more detail about Aki's character, too. Because the thing is, at first, she majorly sucks at driving.
And not only is this realistic to a degree (learning to drive is hard, regardless of what you're learning to drive), it's also great, because you know what Aki's response to it is?
She keeps going. She doesn't let it get her down, she gets back up and tries again. (And from a writing standpoint, this is lovely because that stubbornness is great in situations like this, but you could easily turn it into a weakness in a different scenario if you wanted to.)
And not only does Aki learn driving the hard way here, she also finds herself confronted with jerks who don't want her to succeed,
(Ruka, sweetie, I love you.)
and she makes an absolute rookie mistake during her exam by trying to play a speed spell when she doesn't have the necessary speed counters.
And feel free to disagree, but I think this is also great. Because honestly? While driving a really damned fast motorcycle that I'm not super used to yet, and being expected to make solid tactical judgements in an overcomplicated card game—the rules of which are slightly different when you're playing it on a motorcycle—at the same time, I would likely also mess up like that and accidentally try to make an illegal play. But the thing is, the episode rewards her for sticking it out anyway by letting her pull off a really complicated driving manoeuvre to save herself from her envious turbo-duelling-license colleagues' cheap tricks, and by letting her score a really nice win from a tight spot, much like any of the boys would have in her position.
(Take that, you jerks. Dumbasses only get blurry screenshots.)
So Aki gets her license and is welcomed by the team as a fresh turbo duellist. Hooray!
(I love them all so, so much, help me.)
And we also get this:
Wouldn't you know it! Sherry's been watching Aki get her license with interest! And she seems to be mighty pleased with the result!
So. After all that, I don't think you could blame anyone (it's me, I'm anyone) for getting really excited about what Aki's gonna get up to from this point outward. Aki can control her powers now! And she got her turbo duelling license! And we've got a new, enigmatic side character who seems like she could have super interesting interactions with and play off Aki! I wonder what they're gonna do with all that.
*deep breath*
Sigh.
Seeing as I already know this show like the palm of my hand, I kind of dreaded getting past this episode because I know exactly what happens to Aki from this point out: Nothing. A whole lot of nothing. Okay, well, no. See, I went back and checked all the episodes I have left, just to make sure, just in case I forgot something (very likely when you've already watched the show three times, I know).
From here on out, during the entire pre-WRGP, WRGP, and Ark Cradle arc, Aki gets exactly three things to do:
She uses her shiny new turbo duelling license to fill in for Crow at the Team Unicorn match because he got injured. Which, on paper, is a perfect way to let her have the spotlight for a moment. Except, the only thing she gets that spotlight for is to last a hot four turns in the duel before losing spectacularly to Andre and literally never turbo duelling again for the rest of the show. (Like, yes. The moment where she summons Stardust Dragon is chefs kiss and legendary. But in light of the surrounding circumstances, it feels like a consolation prize to make up for the ensuing character trainwreck.)
Since Crow is technically still injured when they're meant to go up against Team Catastrophe, Aki trains to fill in for him there again. Except! They intentionally make her crash right before the duel, putting her in a short-term coma! And as the icing on the cake, when she wakes up, it also turns out she lost the powers she was only just able to control for absolutely. no. reason. None. They never bother explaining it, they don't even try to hint at why they might have vanished. (I have my own theories for why they had to let her powers vanish and they all start and end with the words "we couldn't be bothered to figure out how to write this character".)
At the very end of the show, the very end, after temporarily fridging Sherry, too, they dig both girls back up in order to let them participate in a three-way final boss duel with Crow. (Which is a fantastic duel, I love it to pieces. Genuinely.) You could argue that they tried to cash in on all the intrigue they set up between Aki and Sherry here, but—come on. At the end of the show? Seriously? Oh, and did I mention that for some reason, Aki's powers mysteriously reappear after this duel? For no reason? Again?
I just. It does not compute. They went as far as doing all this setup, letting Aki get the hang of her powers, letting her get her license, making her part of Team 5Ds, even giving us a new character that seemed like the perfect fit to let her bounce off of—and then, like some sort of kafkaesque reverse-miracle, they somehow managed to take a sharp left into "whoops, don't care about this character" and nearly wasted the entirety of that setup in one fell swoop. If it weren't for that finale saving at least a smidgen of it, I'd be holding a torch and a pitchfork over here. (Hell, I might, even knowing that Aki's final duel in the show is kickass.)
Please tell me if this is just me (15 years after the show released, I know, leave me alone), but this feels like they were literally loading Chekov's gun directly within view of the audience, only to later procede to toss the damned thing into the sea instead of firing it.
Okay. Okay, I think I'm done. For anyone who actually bothered with the whole post, first of all, thank you for your attention, secondly, sorry, but this does, indeed, still bother me ten years after I first found this show, so I had to get it out or it would have eaten at me forever. God damn it.
Anyway, if you'll excuse me, I'm going back to writing fics where Aki actually gets something to do right this second. If anyone's interested in giving a fic series where Aki gets a separate character arc that tries to stay mostly canon-compliant after the defeat of the dark signers a go, you can find my stuff here.

HII!! it's the same anon that did the t!hovie ask and OMD YOUR RESPONSE HAD ME SO GIDDY AHH
i never even thought about t!hobie and mayday but now you've planted the image in my head and i can't get it out! he definitely doesn't mind being picked up and hugged by her! the first time peter catches them during their secret bonding he immediately rushes over and starts mauling the hell out of him as he checks him over to see if he's hurt while hobie is trying to squirm away 😭
AND MIGUEL!! he'd definitely be desperate to make hobie someone else's problem but I can just imagine the times where he's alone with a tiny swing maniac ahsgsj at some point he just snatches him out of the air, drops him into a jar and continues with his business, while hobie is fuming and yelling about the oppression of voices or smth ahsgasjhssh not to mention miguel probably had to spent a ton of time with hobie getting his measurements for his own mini watch 😭😭 he definitely went to go visit spider-therpist after he was done
i absaloutely love the chase scene with pav and hobie! they're running and swinging for their lives, holding on to each other and the book it down the halls while screaming their asses off until they find miles and crawl all over him (if he's in his normal clothes they totally either jump into his pockets or hoods)
also when hobie visits gwens house to give the watch to her dad? traumatic for the police chief for realll 😭 I can imagine he's just home from work, so still in his uniform, and then a tiny dude just struts up onto his coffee table holding a giant watch and giving him the most judgemental glare ever. "a real piece of work" frr!
ANYWAYS TYSM FOR LISTENING TO ANOTHER T!HOBIE RANT AAHH
howdy! Sorry I took so long to respond, I was camping :)
anywho, YESS Peter just grabs hobie and starts moving him all around, looking him over all while hobie is debating whether to keep his chill or squirm. He chose bite. Hence why, after that incident I fully believe that miles heard that he bit Peter, so when hobie is all over him constantly miles is trying to remain still so he doesn’t get bitten as well. He would also teach mayday to bite.
oh, hobie would definitely yell about oppression of voices… and in the case that he’s put in pocket jail you’d just have a spider person talking to Miguel or Peter then suddenly they’d hear disembodied screaming about power trying to suppress the voice of the people… the spider person would be so confused while the one they’re talking to just ignores it and slowly just puts a hand over their pocket slowly. Also, spider people at some point try to actively avoid crossing the door to Miguel’s office because every once in a while the door will swing open, Miguel will flag down the nearest person and put them in charge of tiny anarchist watching duty.
pav and hobie would be BOOKING IT down the hall, there would be screaming, there would be so much drama, especially from pav. There would be a moment when pav gets stuck somewhere as they’re being chased and pulls a ‘I can’t go on!’ Scene as hobie goes back and carries him to safety. Also, hobie would be laughing so hard mid chase while pav is lowkey horror movie victim running, they could both just have the spider people chasing them lose them at anytime but that’s not as fun. At some point they see miles and run for him, miles would be so confused as he just felt two tiny spiders climbing his legs and clinging to his neck while sitting on his shoulders. Pav would be screaming incoherently about miles running while clinging to him and miles would be so confused until hobie, relaxing on miles hair, just goes ‘you probably want to run’ pointing to the mob… miles: ‘NOT AGAIN!’
Gwen’s poor dad would be so confused, this tiny punk just shows up on his coffee table pulling around a watch twice his size. I feel like Gwen’s dad would try to ask about his size and hobies just like ‘what of it?’. He’d definitely be a price of work and it would be even more impressive if he made Gwen’s watch while tiny, it would be a lot harder to pocket materials and miles would make it more difficult by moving the things away from him on a different table while he’s trying to steal.
TYSM FOR THE MESSAGES I LOVE THIS SM I HAVE SO MANY IDEAS BRAIN GOIN BRR OVER THESE CHARACTERS

Okie long ass rant about celebrity culture. Sorry if I seem incoherent andndnfn
I hate it when people try to frame criticising celebrity culture as "worrying about rich white people's feelings" (or in the case of Chappell Roan, rich white woman bc everyone knows that if you throw "rich and white" in front of "woman" then you can't be mysgonystic/s) and act all "Why should I care about what billionares "suffer", huh? People have real struggles"
Celebrity culture and the way people with any form of public presence are treated is NOT a "rich people problem." It is not the equivalent to "aww shame the healthcare CEOs are so scared now" or "Aww shame she can't get a fourth yacht"
Celebrity culture is dangerous, predatory, and puts people's lives in danger. Celebrity culture is a feeling of entitlement to every little piece of somebody, and feeling entitled to judge what their beliefs are or make claims about them regardless of the truth or how they feel.
Most importantly, celebrity culture no longer affects only celebrities or the rich. Now, with the internet, it affects anyone with any kind of online presence at all. Not just YouTubes, not just influencers, literally just anyone. You can go viral even if you don't have online accounts, but because someone made a video of you and posted it online without permission. You could be living off nothing but foodstamps. You could just be a slightly popular tumblr blog, and you will still be a victim (because yes, how rich they are is irrelevant, people who deal with this are victims too) of celebrity culture.
Literally not so long ago, one of my moots was dealing with random people screenshotting her liked posts and then posting about it. Someone I follow was dealing with entitled anons not listening to their rules and simply demanding more content regardless of their wishes. Another mutual of mine was doxxed a year or two ago for being "problematic"
Those are all symptoms of the sickness that is celebrity culture. It is not "loving rich people", it is not "just asking questions" or "Just wanting to meet your idol." Celebrity culture is the masses feeling entilted to someone's time, thoughts, feelings, and body because they are public in some way or another, and if the victim tries to set basic boundaries or take legal action, they are are called hysterical, ungrateful, entilted, and unfit for being in the public eye.
Celebrity culture is people believing you deserve to be doxxed and stalked and sent death threats if you do not comply with their moral standards. Yes, cancel culture is another symptom of celebrity culture. Celebrity culture is wanting anyone in the public eye to be perfect in all ways (physically, emotionally, mentally, and "morally"), or else they will be dragged through the mud. Celebrity culture is having your mental and physical health being brushed aside to please the masses.
And sure, rich people won't really be hurt by the moral outrage side or the fact that they supposedly committed a crime (at least, if they're white men most of the time) But celebrity culture no longer does and never again will apply to only the rich and famous (note: the "and". Some people are rich but not famous and vice versa, or some people are both).
Those who can't afford to just go "oh well" and carry on when they come under fire online?? Those who can't just resign or retire when they fuck up or when their company's dirty laundry is aired out? Those who are falsely accused of or framed for crimes? They're being denied jobs or being fired because the online controversy could make the company they work for look bad. They're being deemed guilty because we live in a culture of pop psychology and ableism and trial by media.
Mr Luigi? We still don't know if he actually did it. But he's still been put on a pedestal, he's still had all of his social media leaked and his tastes in music used to judge his character, he's still had people commenting on his body and he's still had people writing fanfic about him and treating him like he's undeniably guilty. Or in this case "not guilty, a hero"
"Haha nobody's helping the police fuck them" Actually you are ALL helping the police. How? By deeming him as guilty and treating him like the shooter from the start. All those points about ACAB and how police treat suspects have flown out the window. All thoughts of innocent unless proven guilty have evaporated. Everyone fucking ate up those pictures published by the cops that are specifically orchestrated to try and make the guilty person look scary and unhinged.
The police may not have tips, they may not have proper evidence or public support, but they do have millions of people calling Luigi a hero and proudly proclaiming he IS the shooter.
But apparently if you tell people to stop treating him like a prop or movie character and actually think of how much fucking danger Luigi and his family are in right now, then you're on the CEO's side and a bad person/s
Those who just happened to be involved in a famous event or accident and are now famous by association? Victims of famous people? Children of famous people? They live their lives in constant fear or harassment from the press and now, of course, people online. Now they have to be stalked and harassed and called liars by obsessive fans who believe their idol can do no wrong (again, because of celebrity culture)
Does that mean celebrities can do no wrong? Of course not! Some of them do vile, horrible things and get off scot free. But you'll notice they don't get off lightly just because of money. They get off lightly because of celebrity culture and people's pathological need for the person they idolise and have a parasocial attachment to, to be perfect, so they either defend the celeb in question or act like they did no wrong. Even if it does benefit some celebrities sometimes, celebrity culture is STILL bad. Celebrity culture hurts EVERYONE involved.
Let's take Hawktuah girl as another example. I couldn't care less if she's "problematic" now, the fact that she got famous from a video soemone ELSE took and posted of her making a sex joke while drunk and was then stalked and harassed and nearly doxxed and asked for nudes is vile. The fact that she felt her dad had to get his gun because of people following her and trying to look into her house is terrifying. And yet... people just say "Well she shouldn't have let the video be posted if she didn't want online attention." Or "Who cares she's milking the joke now" or "Well she did this problematic thing so she deserves it actually"
And doesn't that make you raise your eyebrows? Since when does "Hey, don't treat me like a cardboard cutout, treat me like a human" make someone entitled? Why do people have to give up basic respect and privacy and safety to be "famous"? Why are we saying they "signed up for it" when clearly it shouldn't even be something to sign up for in the first place?
I'm tired of people dismissing celebrity culture when its impact is everywhere. People relying on famous singers for their political choices. People asking celebrities loaded political questions without giving them the chance to research and understand the topic and then judging their morals and intelligence based on their answer.
People being stalked and harassed and then shamed for retaliating. YouTubers or just anyone online being doxxed because they did something "bad." People being expected to be held responsible for their fans or other people's morals. People having to wrangle their fans and stop being from behaving like animals.
People dehumanising others and viewing them as just an idol or a brand or fictional being. Like when they refer to actors by the name of a character they played (Rest in peace Andre Braugher, I'm sorry for people just saying "Wow rip Captain Holt" "Jake must miss him now" or worse, people saying "ACAB" under posts about him because he *checks notes* played a fictional cop like that actually does anything to help anti police at all. Rest in peace for the many many actors who were killed over the character they played)
Celebrity culture is what gets people killed. It's what gets them assaulted and stalked. The stories of famous actors or singers who have been killed or assaulted by fans are countless, and right now there are many more stories of some random person suffering similar fates because nobody understands boundaries and sees no issue with thrusting people into the online spotlight or blatantly violating their rights.
JJJacks films made fun of Sniperwolf and her reaction was to go to his house, record it and post it online, and threaten him and his family. And yet people either defend her or say "Well, she didn't do anything illegal ig" or wonder why Jack is "scared of a tiny woman like that"
The laws that are violated in order to get the "inside scoop" on famous people are many, but are often brushed aside because "Well, they're famous" "Well, that's journalism" And that's with existing laws.
Current laws have not even caught up with the online world. I feel that's obvious. There are shockingly sparse rules about online behaviour and online businesses. There is shockingly little restriction on the advertisements that are shoved in people's faces and their predatory or just explicit nature. The laws around the information that businesses and companies can acquire from their customers are shockingly lax. The laws around spreading dangerous misinformation (e.g covid) are shockingly non-existent
Nobody understands why taking pictures or videos of someone even "in a public space" should be illegal, nobody understands why revealing someone's location online is bad, despite the fact that barely ten years ago everyone had it drilled into them that even revealing your age or country of origin is stupid and incredibly unsafe. Nobody understands why letting politicians just spew whatever on their social media is a problem (unless of course it's a politician they don't like)
Why did things change? Why do people demand your age, or view you as a bad person with bad intentions for "lying about/hiding things"?
Well, partially because celebrity culture started sneaking in and leaking through the cracks, and now "online safety" has become something immediately associated with either children or control freaks and gatekeepers.
Now those actors and actresses and singers and dancers and artists have even less privacy. At the very least, in ye old days the most information you got from them is interviews or journalists with an either fake or illegally required "inside scoop." or by following them around like the pack of vultures the press (and fans) are.
Now, though? Might as well live like you're in the 1950s if you don't want every single thing you say or text (even in private messages) scraped up and spat out online for everyone to see and then happily let themselves play judge, jury, and executioner.
Queer creators or celebrities have been forcibly outed or forced to out themselves by fans who think they're lying about their identity, are talking about a topic they don't have the "right" to talk about, or because they just think they can "headcanon" real people. Every idiot who does this seems to forget that regardless of status, being outed as queer can put people in legitimate danger.
Of course, this problem has spread from people like actors to the general problem, too.
Online, everyone has a public presence of some kind. Even on an "anonymous" site like tumblr, you can build a following and become popular. You can have people admire you or think you're cool even if you just post silly memes all day.
The harmful celebrity culture that formed because of royalty and Hollywood and politicians and so much more transfered to the online space. That sense of entiltement, that encouragement of parasocial relationships, began to fester and became aimed at random people just trying to have fun online.
The mentality of "consume and demand more" crawled into the spaces where people made art or wrote stuff for fun. People formed parasocial relationships with "guy who plays videogames" and "person who draws Link fanart".
"Why has tumblr etiquette been abandoned now?" "Why don't people leave comments or reblog anymore?" "Why do people demand more from artists while disrespecting them and their boundaries?' "Why do people think people being online is a free ticket to being a cruel asshole?"
Celebrity culture. Celebrity culture. Celebrity. Culture.
Celebrity culture is tied into consumerism and greed and purity culture and the demand for more. The topic is very nuanced, and everything links into each other some way somehow. Like celebrities being expected be brands rather than humans, especially online, in order to avoid the risk of losing support and, most importantly, sales.
This expectation (which even fans and the general public subconsciously have) as well the many many puritan ideologies that influenced what is expected of a "brand", or "leading example" is part of what caused the online space to be so hostile.
If you create anything, it is now a product. A free product, but a product nonethless. It will be consumed, and then people will demand more while treating you like a product making machine and expect you to hold a certain moral standard to earn their "support" The product must be acceptable and palatable.
Everyone online must be shining pillars or morality. Make sure to be good and "child friendly." You'll notice channels with huge sponsors like Game Theory or Mr Beast will avoid swearing and promoting "bad things" to keep their audience and sponsors, even if they have videos that cover horror games or stuff like "Squid Game in real life"
Make sure not hurt or taint minors. (Which as we all know, often means "don't be queer." Because queer is seen as morally bad and harmful to "the children" Think of the children, guys!/s)
Don't write or draw anything bad unless you have an all caps bright red disclaimer saying minors mustn't interact and that you don't support it in real life (and even then, the disclaimer is ignored most of the time anyways)
You must remember to include as many people, situations, and exceptions as possible in your random post, even if what you're saying doesn't need that.
Basically, whenever you have an opinion or thought, be a brand. Make the statement as broad and inclusive as possible in order to avoid "excluding" people and being "bad." Make your point in as nice and friendly a way as possible, and if you can't well, you'll probably be seen as a hateful trashbag. Is your point about human rights being denied? Too bad, you gotta be grovel and make your statement as palatable as possible. Though it'll probably be twisted around anyway, so don't say anything at all.
And, of course, now that everyone can have an online presence, everyone can be a product or brand too. No longer are celebrities the only people having a camera shoved in their faces. Now everyone can whip out their phone and start recording whoever they want whenever they want. They need those clicks after all. Everyone can have every personal detail revealed by someone else because everyone is a celebrity in some way.
And yes, even the revealing people as queer thing applies here. Once again it's done by idiots who view people as "hot tea" or think others identities are their business and must be known at all times in order to not be "suspicious," or, in their privilege, forget that many people are beaten, kicked out, or killed for being queer or can legally be executed or imprisoned for being queer in their countries.
Anyways yeah, celebrity culture is a far deeper problem than most people realise, and it's entangled with a ton of other problems that contribute to the current online space and how unsafe and hostile it else. It cannot be dismissed as a rich people problem. I felt the need to make a post about it.
And please, do not derail this post and try to talk about exceptions and whatnot. Don't go, "I agree, but x celebrity can go to hell." Don't go "Agreed but y celebrity can do no wrong." By doing that, you are missing my point and actively contributing to the poison that is celebrity culture. Do not place celebrities on a pedestal.

4433 has a lot of antis. maybe you don't see it because i know we like them here. but fans that don't like max or don't like lewis and only support one of them always have to carry their judgement into shipping and are ruining it for everyone instead of staying away from fanfiction. i can't and talk to people who are against a driver because they make it about what people read and write too and that part makes no sense. but people always make hating a driver their whole personality. they hate a ship because they don't like the real person and have to let everybody know. there's a difference between a fanfiction and reality. sorry for the rant and my english, but it's annoying and discouraging.
this is so wild to read. i feel like i've put a handmade target on my back n chest and no one's shooting arrows at me. i've never received hate for my 4433isms. not on fics, not on tumblr. like, sure, twitter's a cesspool but if you're going to twitter expecting to be free from hate and scrutiny then you're on the wrong platform. and i'm not there lmao.
i see max hatred from time to time! more often than lewis hatred, so maybe i curated that part of my dash very well. and i just scroll on but it never seems to be about the ship??? which, i mean, nice! but then it's always a tad jarring to see other people yapping about hatred for the ship. maybe they (subconsciously) seek it out more, too? can't catch me in discourse reblogs* i'm too old for that.
no worries bout your rant babe! you're doing great. but yeah i don't get making your hatred your entire personality. sorry to say it but you're still obsessed one way or another.
when it comes to drivers i dislike i simply don't think about them. when it comes to ships i don't like i simply don't think about them - although sometimes i do rant about lstpn or mxl, on here or in friends' dms bc other people are talking about it on my dash n i'm annoyed by it. i'd never actively go into a shippers askbox/dms/comment section and moan about it though like grow up.
*discourse reblogs never, i will fact-check other people though!
this is incoherent as fuck as well. but yeah. thank you for your input!!! i hope mine makes sense somehow ajkfhsjfk
