Hey have you read Cixin Liu's works? What is your opinion about them ?

Hi! :) Yes I've read 90% of his works, his non-fictional essay collection, as well as like 50% of academic criticisms on him out there, so if anyone has any other questions about Liu Cixin, I'd be very happy to answer! I first read the Three Body trilogy over ten years ago and was fascinated by the grandeur of his imagination that pulls you out of mundane life into the furthest corner of the unvierse at the end of time. There's something transcendental and awe-inspiring in his works that you rarely find in contemporary sci-fi. Having read most of his short stories preceding the Three Body trilogy, I also saw how Liu Cixin honed his writing skills and expanded his imagination over the years that allowed the Three Body trilogy to come to be. The Three Body trilogy is his magnum opus and I don't think he'll be able to produce anything as great again in the future. Liu Cixin has pretty much said everything he has to say in this trilogy.

If you ask me now, I'd say I mostly find him interesting because he's such a complex and conflicted writer. He clearly understands how democratic institutions allow a society and its people to thrive, and as a young man he supported the 1989 Tiananmen Square pro-democracy protests. On the other hand, with his childhood shaped by the collectivist authoritarianism of Mao's China, he's also prone to justifying the existence of authoritarian institutions, having this belief that authoritarianism ensures the survival of the collective at the expense of the individual and is necessary in harsh and desperate times. Liu Cixin has entrenched scientistic beliefs, arguing that science and technology could solve any problem that a cosmic civilisation might have. However, advanced godlike technology in his works rarely lead to bright futures and perfect utopias, but more often decaying and struggling civilisations losing vitality, freedom and creativity - in this sense, a scientific pessimism pervades his works contrary to his scientistic assertions. On the one hand, Liu Cixin loathes anthropocentrism and desires to turn his readers' gaze away from the anthropos and towards nature and the vast universe; on the other hand, he can't help but be drawn to the doctrines of humanism that treat human as the paragon of animals and a unique race of irreplacable value. Furthermore, he can't decide what's more important - to keep one's humanity at all costs or survive at the cost of one's humanity.

This is the conflicted writer that Liu Cixin is, shaped by his experience in Maoist China and later on, in the post-socialist, globalised China. The Three Body trilogy was already popular in China ten years ago, but now its popularity in China is blown out of all proportion. It's basically a sort of religion among its readers at this point, and you'll find people quoting it and appropriating ideas and concepts from it everywhere and in the most unexpected places. I'm sure Liu Cixin has very conflicted feelings about that.

tbh... i think draw Ranni a lot, she's literally the cover of my first fromsoft fanbook 🥲🥲

though most of my art of her is from 2 years ago, i wouldn't say i don't draw her often at all 😭 i've drawn Radahn 4-5 times too. i understand because i draw too much, it's easy to have an impression that i draw some specific characters less, but compared to, say, the Omen Twins or Rykard or Melina (who i keep meaning to draw but haven't got around to do so yet), Radahn and Ranni are two Carian characters i draw the most of that side of the family (well, Rellana is looking to dethrone them soon but you get what i mean aksfkjdfkj)

Radahn dudebro fans keep pointing fingers saying i hate him but i actually like him. as a guyfailure that is so obsessed with these symbols of a Lord in his father and Godfrey, yet failed to live up to any of them (*stare at that scene of Morgott whooping his ass*). his involvement in the DLC is an interesting spin on things to me, and make a lot of sense in the grand scheme of things (when i saw that we found like... 11 Miquella's Lily in places most personal to Radahn like Carian Manor and Sellia. hoo boy).

lately, i lowkey think Radagon specifically picked him for Miquella and encouraged his obsession with being a Lord. to me at least Radagon is really bitter that Godfrey is the First Lord and not him (her actual other's half! sentenced to live away from her while another man got to be her first in everything! the injustice!), so him not only discrediting Godfrey's descendants (whole thing with Hunters of TWLiD) but also preparing a whole new pair of Lord and God that should have been how he and Marika could have been from the start sounds like the kind of overcompensation he'd be doing (look honey that could be us but you tripping).

so in a way i do feel for Radahan and Miquella falling victims to Radagon's list of issues (though it's only one reason in many other reasons for them to turn out that way ofc. Radagon merely nudges the pieces into certain direction, they go barreling head first down on their own). and i actually like that i could come up with all that thanks to the DLC. imo it actually adds a lot more to Radahn and Miquella's character (depends on how you view the story though whoops).

you can say i like him (and Miq) the way one likes AC6 Iguazu... or Genichiro. the kind of hater characters that are doomed to fail from the start, but they are stubborn and will run head first into the wall again and again. and it's fun to put them in a jar and shake them.

Ranni... after the DLC my feeling for her is a bit more complicated. before i get why she did all those things and i like her story enough, but after the DLC as you see i come to really like Godwyn and links him closely to Marika. so now it's kinda awkward for me to insert Ranni in all the scenarios im drawing lately?

it's not that i stop liking her, it's simply that the scenario doesn't line up for me to add her in that's all. and it goes to other characters i haven't drawn tbh. not because i don't like them, i simply don't have anything in my brain about them to draw out. i don't think there's any characters in Elden Ring i hate tbh (yes i do like even the Hornsents. i find the stories in the scorpion stew and dried flower talisman really somber and give them a lot of humanity too, fucked up rituals aside).

and thank you for your kind words! my editor has been on my ass for a whole year about my art and it does help me improve a lot, im glad to know it shows in the quality of my fanarts as well!

2003 Raph I can't say much about 2003 because I barely watched the show outside of 20+ random episodes and youtube compilations. but based on those alone, I think he's my favorite!

12 Raph. Raph. I think out of all the turtles, he has the best character writing compared to the others. His centric episodes are all great to me, and I never hated any of them (maybe a slight dislike when it comes to Mona's episodes, or here and there from small scenes, but that's mostly because I'm not a fan of romance in general). What I really like about him as a character, especially from Season 3 onward, is how much of his personality is built around overprotectiveness and sensitivity. Like, the part in Season 3 where it's implied (and shown) that he has to step in as the leader of the group and their little family—agh, such good character development for him. You can see how he starts to loosen up a bit more in the later seasons, especially toward Leo. His dynamic with Donnie and Mikey is also great! He radiates tough love to every single one of his brothers, and I love that for him qvq

i really like the headcanon that bonnie used to be super touchy with siffrin before the incident. and that they only stopped because they were told that siffrin doesn’t like being touched, even if they didn’t understand why. i love emotionally devastating headcanons!!

Like I said on the post that prompted this, he's a nice silly boy who's also the strongest being in the known universe. He's pretty emotionally mature for his age and always wants to help people out. Kirby radiates positivity to everyone around him. He's the kind of person that makes a really great friend.

He loves simple pleasurable things, like eating and sleeping and playing. When he's not saving the world, he's out somewhere enjoying himself, probably with a buddy.

His life isn't perfect. He's unsure of himself and doubts if he deserves everything he's got. He feels guilty for not always being able to save everyone, regardless if that's even possible. He loses his patience sometimes, most often with people like Marx or Magolor who like to push his buttons. He struggles with identifying and dealing with his feelings, especially negative ones.

When he feels bad, though, his friends have his back. They care about him a lot, especially his closest friends like Bandana Waddle Dee and Gooey.

I'm assuming you'd want to make something about Team Fate (my explorers team)? In that case, I don't think there's a ton of information you need to know; all of their personality traits and quirks are implied in the art I've made of them, so I don't think you could go wrong!

here's a guide I quickly put together!! hopefully it's somewhat helpful

So basically, my pmd teams pretty much follow the canon personalities they have in the games: for example, Piper (eevee hero) has a very reserved and quiet personality just like the player character in the games, and doesn't speak or emote much - but she talks and laughs the most around her partner.

Clementine (vulpix partner) is pretty similar to the explorers partner; she's jittery and nervous, but loves to ramble about adventuring to Piper (who loves to listen). She scares easily, but feels stronger with Piper - so in a way, they basically complete each other. They balance out each other's weaknesses, and give each other strength.

oh god i have so many. first of all its mainly just for fun so i know no explanation as to how they got together is really like... canonically feasible LMAO but this is my au where instead of being a thought-provoking horror/action series chainsaw man is a tacky romcom

as for dating... again i think it would be funny if kobeni is too much of a dweeb and makima is too fucked up to realize theyre kind of really dating for a while. like they're making out and kobeni is like 'oh yeah this is just normal friends stuff' and makima is like 'teehee i'm sooo evil look at me manipulating this woman' even though shes like happy and thriving for the first time in her life

anyway i dont know if im explaining this right. i wish i could transport people into my mind palace so my vision can be properly understood but alas

also despite her size i think kobeni could lift makima and carry her in her arms as easily as she could a small-medium sized dog

okay marytunia have recently been SO on my mind bc i saw @fernhelm tag a post w them the other day and i was like HOLD ON!! I SEE IT!! and THEN i had a vague recollection of jen talking about them one time last year at some point so the two of them have been subjected to some of my ramblings bc i was struck down by divine intervention like last week and have been obsessing a little....

but okay so for me the general vibe is very tangled up w the evans sisters dynamics and just lily in general which is all v ouch. i kinda see them actually as two parts of her life like petunia is a huge part lily’s childhood and mary is a huge part of lily’s time at hogwarts so she’s this presence between them even if she’s not actually there and there’s a lot of like resentment and yearning and jealousy etc etc

like petunia is fighting w herself the whole way through it (nothing i love more than some good old internal conflict) bc she shouldn’t want this!! she’s planned out a nice, perfect, normal life for herself that she’s convinced herself she has to like, she will like it, which doesn’t involve magic or witches or her sister and mary is really putting a spanner in the works and petunia shouldn’t want it, she can’t want it, but there’s just something so magnetic about mary that she can’t quite seem to escape, and it’s like maybe magic can be good?? can be beautiful?? bc mary is so beautiful?? but then also i think mary has complicated thoughts about magic which i’m not gonna get into here lol

but anyway mary is maybe just kinda curious at first i think. like maybe there’s some unrequited marylily so she has a bit of a crush and just wants to find out everything about lily and she has this sister and petunia’s just so interesting and it’s fun to try and get her to laugh at her jokes when she’s obviously trying to completely ignore her and she just finds herself slowly trying to get her attention every time she’s at the evans’ house, like she’s going there to see glimpses of petunia rather than to spend time w lily and she’s suddenly like oh!

and idk they’re just very interesting to me bc as i said resentment longing jealousy and like there’s vernon and dudley and the war and lily’s death and i just. like they really compel me yk??? there’s a lot of complexity there that i just wanna like dig my fingers into

yeah, i can definitely get behind that too! i think it’d be really sweet if he got to be that kind of inspiration for people!

as for other little omega genesis headcanons:

- i definitely feel like he’s the type to get super clingy around the time of his heats, but as soon as his heats are over he will deny that he ever acted that way…

- i feel like despite omega stereotyping of being oh so uwu helpless, he’s the one that generally takes charge, and he keeps up with his alpha counterparts, sometimes even needing to save and lead them! he’s a strong independent omega for the most part!

- even in romantic situations he will rarely let himself be outwardly submissive, even if his omega instincts will sometimes desperately try to make itself known, but there are always subtle signs; a certain amount of clinginess, stealing his partners clothes and using them to nest but doing it slowly over time so it’s hard to notice, just doing all the normal omega stuff but in the subtlest way possible and denying it if anyone asks!

for my unrealistic headcanon he is an old school metalhead and spins a ton of motörhead or black sabbath.

more likely he could like the stuff that empties your head and keep you sharp, he might prefer tunes that kinda serve as background noise while he works. i always thought he's a huge city pop lover and has a whole bunch of vinyls with a record player and all. but i also think he's fond of instrumental music such as jazz, traditional folk, bossa nova, or classical :>

I just imagined Steve with the Captain Kirk titty window 😂 @sparklyslug is the genius who breathed it to life! 🔥 I am a terrible writer so I don’t have many headcanons but the little one she has in t’hy’la with touch telepathy is my favorite! I love the idea that they have their own form of communication that requires no words. They can pass each other in the halls between shifts or on away missions and brush their hands (or fingers for a quick kiss 🤭 lol) and say everything that needs to be said. Maybe @sparklyslug has some more headcanons? (If not, no worries!) Like i said, bad writer = me 😂

And I can see a romulan eddie fitting too! Especially with the whole negative outlook and mistrust people have on him/them. It could definitely work too!
