How I get out of a slump

Hello girlies! Welcome to another blog of mine. This topic was very spontaneous for me to write about. I'm having a writers block since last week because I have been stuck in a rut, that's my reason bts. I'm going to tell you my personal tips to get out of this state and regain your consistency on a healthy lifestyle!

My tips

Journaling: You may do this step whenever you feel it's right, but I think it's important to be concious about why are you in a rut in the first place and what you can do for you to feel better and get back stronger. You may let yourself just dump and feelings or go to Pinterest and look out for prompts.

Tidy up my space & take a shower: I truly believe that our space is a reflection of our own mind, as so I think that I reflect my state in how much I take care of my appearance and hygiene. So, this is the first thing I do to step into a state in which I feel clean and calm and able to focus on my mind after taking care of my physical space. Take your time to cleanse yourself!

Listen to high vibe music: I know my ruts happen in first place because I am in a low vibrational state and with a negative mindset. Even if it's not your case, I reccomend you to listen to songs that motivates you and empowers you up to again make an effort for yourself , rather than listening to low mood lyrics.

Revisit your goals: it's time to think again about what are the things you want to accomplish. Ask yourself what do you need to get back on track: Are there any goals that don't align with you no more or you need to change to be accomplished? What are the habits or steps you need to take?

Take it slow: We are just getting out of a rut, so it has been hard for us this days to keep track on habits and goals, even to do simple things. Girl, take it easy and at your own peace, no one is chasing you and your wellness it's first before other matters. If you need to, break down your habits or steps into small ones. One of my favorite reminders is "something is better than nothing". Examples: You don't feel with the energy to clean your room? Use a timer of 10 minutes. Can't read? Just read one page. What matters is that you are making an effort to be in a better place.

Take care of your health: First things first. Related to other points of the blog, take care fo your health and then focus on heavier effort or alongside doing small but significant actions. Health is something we start neglecting when we are in a slump (alongside keeping our space clean, our goals & habits and our mind). Make sure you are sleeping well, having a healthy diet, doing exercise, take some sun, whatever you need to do to have a healthy body.

Be consistent!: Consistency will be an important point in this one. For me, the hardest thing is taking the decision to take the first steps, after it keep them on track until you feel better. Rather than seeing it as discipline, see it as devotion. Think that "you are being devoted in taking care of yourself and giving you the best present and future", it sounds lovely, isn't it?

Health + Clean space → Reflection → Revisit your goals → Take small steps →Consistency

what’s with the kadian 16:23?

we have a couple of number combinations that have meaning to the fandom and this one is making the rounds lately. primarily because xzs have been posting material related to this album at this time. i understand 10:00 and 10:05, even 10:30, 11, 12, 13:00 but for some reason the 16:23 has been very consistent and too specific. the conversation around it and digging up times related to it became louder because of how xzs featured this specific time on their video from friday. personally, 16 to me is yibo’s number and 23 is ofcourse love zhan. so putting that together in a bjyx-kadian-biased way made sense to me.

maybe it’s as simple as someone from xzs team asking gege if there is a specific posting time he wants and he said 16:23.

if we are going by that assumption, then these may be some reasons why it’s important…

1. I’m seeing some throw in the explanation that this may be a substitute to 18:23. It may be too sus to use this repeatedly when everyone knows what it means lol. So 16:23 may be a safer choice, those who know that 16 is yibo’s number will understand. and not many are aware of this fact. He also allegedly has a fake account called ASAP16

2. XZ has used 1623 license plate before which i understand is stalker information and more likely than not out of their control. I’m just putting it out there.

3. Back in 2020, WYB bday post was a shoe. This was back when he was a Nike boy. But the posting of 16:23 is unique and why would he choose that for a special day.

4. This is more of the number 16, there was a LRLG rumor where it appears they are talking about this pig doll with a 16 on it. I really think that this kadian is directed more towards the 16 to represent Yibo.

🔴: "Well, you're pretty good at taking care of yourself."

Wang laoshi then just locked the phone and refused to reply? Hahahahahaha. It was a little piggy doll wearing a hat with the number "16" on it. Very cute

5. There are other times that XZS posted at this time and one if for the new year and GG’s bday. I’d like to think that this has always been a favorite but it’s more in our face with the album promotion.

compared to other kadian, this is one that may need more time to be fully realized. i find it significant that out all the songs, Lighthouse got the 16:23 written all over it. if you believe that it’s a song for yibo, then maybe the 16:23 is really what we think it is. 🫶🏼

lastly, another cpn connected to this is how xzs skipped to post anything on GRA weekend. but to me this was more of professional courtesy to this important event. xz and his team most likely didn’t want to be mistaken as trying to overshadow anyone. there are other times where i think their studios are coordinated in order to not clash — for example this tuesday, the main release time for XZ materials is 10:00 and WYB’s magazine release is 12 onwards — but this incidence ( at least to me ) is not one of those.

If there's one thing I really liked about Horrortale is that SAS takes elements from the original game and re-routes them to fit the story. The charm of Horrortale is that it's precisely an alternate timeline that you can believe will happen without problems. A neutral route that turns into the living hell of monsters.

Anyway, now to point out the little things I liked.

The dark twist of Sans' Iceezs puzzle! In the original the joke is that you can't find any of the words that are written (the fucking puzzle is not doing the puzzle if you want to pass it. It's literally doing nothing lol) but here you literally HAVE to find the words to advance. I found it funny because if you've played UT your first instinctive action is to do nothing! It's like that Papyrus puzzle and the colored tiles that you don't expect to be relevant and then it turns out that it was! Just cute, thanks SAS.

The music! the overall atmosphere is super eerie and ominous, the opening song for waterfall is simple and sounds like still water. It gives you the feeling that you're in dead ground. Like the genocidal route in waterfall and its theme, but again, SAS USES the game's foundations and directs them into their own story YYYYYY OUAGHAHA I LOVE IT! Do you think Aliza inhales the dust in the air while walking?

Goner Kid!'s dialogue is literally a reversal of what one of Gaster's followers says about living in a world where everything is exactly the same but you don't exist in it. In this case, SAS AGAIN redirects and gives new meaning to phrases and details from the game for Horrortale.

The underground would probably have been saved if Sans didn't exist, that is, if Sans had decided to die for all of them! AAAAAAAAAAAAHHH I'M REALLY SMILING LIKE A LUNATIC. I love, LOVE the importance SAS gives to the source material considering Horrortale is a timeline and not an AU! It adds another layer of depth and reinforces the plot a lot; you who played the game and knew the story and grew fond of these characters are now witnessing the suffering that YOU as a player caused in one of your games!

Onion san submerged in that pit of black water was scary, I really expected him to come out of there to kill me when I first saw him (and I wanted that to happen, for him to jump out and kill us why not? >:3). His exchange with Aliza is sweet and adorable considering how scary he managed to look at the beginning haha. Horrortale is still a sad story even though it has scary elements.

The painting on the wall of waterfall reminded me of that thing Alphys created to rip out Horror's magic eye, although the description says it seems to be from a creature. It's probably ambiguous on purpose.

Aliza's deaths are brutal. I died with River Person for the first time and I felt bad for Aliza, poor thing was stripped down to the bone! A gruesome death. The rabid Temmies! I loved that they were included, their dialogue is simple but works well and feels in character. She was decapitated, MY POOR GIRL! Devored, impaled, drowned, this girl wont stop going through the most horrorific DEATHS!

And that's another thing with Horrortale, they all feel in character just like their original versions! Sans is still a joker, only his psychosis has made him more violent, more sadistic and prone to darker humor (I'd eat Horrortale's little black humor animated shorts with fries). He also keeps the tendency to beat up children, his character is consistent and that's why he's my favorite.

There's such a thick and obvious parallel with Aliza and Horror when he says "how much do you think your life is worth?" I mean, if he's on her case maybe it's because he wasn't in her shoes for long (although Aliza doesn't wear shoes!)

And I'm not saying Killer or Dust aren't, they're also wonderful in their own way but they're maybe very different approaches, but they work (and I love them too, believe me).

My only complaint with this little game is that it's very short once you figure out all the puzzles! But I can't complain when we get more of the comic in JANUARY (my birthday month!!). I look forward to more story and seeing more characters soon. This was a little treat i will treasure with all my heart.

every time i see a gw*nriel whine about how there’s nothing interesting about an elriel book and that elriel can’t move the plot forward i know they’re self projecting, hard.

when it comes down to it, elriel is the only interesting path forward. it would actually be new and interesting, unlike another fated mates story (the third in a row if gw*nriel were mates, fourth since they think el*cien is going to happen.) they cream their pants about it even though it’s literally the most boring thing possible, no matter which way you spin it.

gwyn has no relevance to the actual overall plot of the story. she is nesta’s friend. they don’t even want to admit she could be a lightsinger, which would be the one unique thing about her that would make her more important to the overall plot outside of nesta’s story. the only relevant part of their ship is azriel, which is probably why they constantly try to take things canonically belonging to elain and elriel and insist it actually belongs to gwyn and gw*nriel.

meanwhile, elain is made, therefore can wield made objects, which has clearly been important to the story thus far. she’s the cauldrons favorite; why, and what does that mean? why does it purr in her presence? she’s a seer, which we have never gotten the POV of before. what do her visions look like, how do they manifest for her? she has shown hints at being a spy, and that combined with her visions will be so cool to read about. this isn’t even getting into her connection to koschei, who is clearly being built up as the big-bad. none of these even have to do with az. she’s relevant entirely on her own, unlike gwyn who is currently only relevant in relation to nesta.

elain’s also on a very clear path to the first rejected mating bond, which, again, SJM has never done before, and i cannot wait to read about how it all works and what it means.

gwyn has none of this; she’s just a valkyrie, nesta’s friend, and we already got that story.

anyways, sorry for the long tirade; thankfully i think elain’s book announcement will be here before the 10 year anniversary, and since so many gw*nriels and el*ciens said they won’t read an elriel book hopefully this fandom will finally be free of them and we can all go back to just enjoying the books.

You explained everything so perfectly. The only people that claim elriel have 0 plot together are the ones that are purposefully ignoring huge chunks of the text, denying the plot points in favour to use it for their own ship.

I was once open-minded about Gwynriel when I first learnt about the ship, their “plot” consists of Azriel healing as he is in such a “messed up”place right now, developing feelings for Elain - another woman he can’t have. So he’ll be at the H.O.W, reflecting and recovering from his disgusting actions in the bonus all whilst Gwyn is going to be there, prancing around - teasing and challenging him. Ofc Gwyn hs no plot of her own so enter the Illyrian saviour plot where for some unknowns reason, Rhys will send Gwyn (not emerie; the actual illyrian) but her white bestie to go with Az to the camps -> there Az will heal (?) and begin to loooovvvvee his illyrian heritage - he will become bestie besties with the same people that mocked and emotionally abused him bcs why tf not. Now, again, this isn’t enough to carry an 800 paged book so enter Nesta, Gwyn for some odd unknown reason will again, help out understanding gwydion which will allow her: unmade, no connection to the cauldron, not starborn - self wield it all because Gwyn is amazing and everyone loves her. Eventually, both gwyn and az will go to the prison and BOOM. Through the power of song, singing a duet together, they will revive the prison. Az will realise “damn I love this girl so much, forget elain who I wanted to beg on my knees for, this is the girl for me, my gwynnie poo” Now ofc, none of this is original. Its plotpoints stolen from other characters and ships - as you mentioned.

I don’t even care anymore bcs gwynriels can yap about whatever gwynriel book they want. Sjm clearly said the spinoffs focus on the sisters and side characters from the og series which, Gwyn is not part off. Therefore to me - she is irrelevant unless she plays a role in the snowwhite retelling regards to elriel. A lot of antis will get a reality check soon and im all here for it.

Gwynriel doesn’t even fit the parallels and patterns sjm has used for Feyre’s and Nesta’s story which again, disproves gwynriel to me. Gwyn will not be a spy. Its Elain. Gwyn has nothing to do with TruthTeller or Gwydion. Elain and Az do. Gwyn has nothing to do with the 8 pointed star. Nesta & the archerons do. Gwyn has nothing to do with the prison. Elain and Az do. Gwyn isn’t needed to smooth things out in the continent with Mor. Elain is perfect for it. Gwyn is not an archeron. Elain is. Gwyn was not part off the og series or even acofas. Elain and Azriel - even Emerie were. Gwyn did not have 2 bonuses focusing on her. Elain does. Gwyn has nothing to do with the cauldron. Elain & Az do.

Its that simple to work out. You just don’t have to be biased.

The fact we are going to get Elains book announcement in the next 6 months(hopefully, I can’t wait any longer) is giving me so much excitement. I’ve been seeing a lot of antis say how boring or uninteresting elriels book will be and how they won’t read it which THANK GOD. Their disrespectfulness and entitlement is showing and this fandom? Is desperately in need of a cleanse. Hopefully elains book announcement alone will wash out the toxic antis 😌

permanence & i wanna feel calm: sister songs

this is not the first time i have described bears in trees's songs permanence, from the ep "i want to feel chaotic", and i wanna feel calm, from their newest album "how to build an ocean: instructions", as sister songs. it will likely not be the last, either.

so i wanna talk about it! permanence is, and has been, one of my favorite bit songs from nearly the moment i discovered the band. i love the sentiment within the song, pictured prominently in the lyric, "i want to feel chaotic / but calm enough to hold you in the morning." i think that's a very common sentiment among young adults: the desire of freedom, and self-exploration, and doing things that maybe aren't the best for you, but are fun anyways, but at the end of the day wanting some consistency, wanting to be reliable enough to hold and be held by someone else. another lyric is "i want permanence in the little things", hence the title of the song. it's a sweet sentiment, to cherish little moments and want them to last forever, or at least be remembered, and loved, for as long as possible. i would be lying if i said this sentiment has not made me cry before. bit are pretty good at making me sob, with their lyrics, in the best way.

now let's talk about the more recent i wanna feel calm, and how, exactly, it compares to permanence. one of the lyrics is, "seeking stillness in a rippling", essentially looking for still waters in a place where there are none. perhaps it is just me, but that sounds an awful lot like looking for calm in the chaotic. as well as that, another lyric literally is, "i wanna feel calm", but more of the mentions of calm are regarding the repetition of the line, "you keep me calm". this ties back to permanence, which is largely a song of love, and the calm the singer wishes to have for the unknown "you" the song is directed towards. i wanna feel calm is paralleling that in that the unknown "you" is granting the singer that calm they have been longing for, for so long, and it ties full circle, back to holding someone calmly in the morning. beyond the parallels of calmness tied to the "you", there is the desire for the permanence of the mundane. the verse, "i want to cherish every insignificance / lay in the light of your mundane / i want to hold onto every impermanence / each an eternity in their own way" parallels the sentiment found earlier in permanence. both songs express a love for the mundane, and a desire to make them last forever, and hold close to the littlest details. these two themes, as they are both prominent in the two songs, are the reason i feel that these two songs are sister songs. i just find that the connecting themes tie them together closely, in such a gorgeous way. perhaps this is intentional. perhaps it is not. either way? i cherish it, a whole lot. the little connections between the two songs make them both impossibly more important to me, and i hope you find the analysis interesting, if nothing else! take care, thanks for reading, and make sure to hydrate <3 stream bears in trees!

Ok so Apple released it's 100 Greatest Albums list a while ago and I scoffed at it, but after watching some youtubers whine about it in different ways, I realized I hadn't given it the fairest shake. I haven't listened to every album on it and a lot of stuff I have listened to I haven't listened to in a long while. So, I'm gonna listen to every album featured and decide how I feel about them. And for fun y'all get small quick reviews.

Starting off, here's part one of my reviews.

I decided to start with Adele's 21. Not for any special reason other than it seemed like it might be nice to listen to in the shower. Adele has a great, powerful voice, but the album has two song archetypes that just get repeated. The songs are mostly competent so individually they're fine, but together as an album they make a very boring experience. Also, I recognized Rumor Has It from a commercial or something, I fucking hate that song. Docked extra points for having that song. This album doesn't belong on the list at all to me, and even if we are throwing a bone to the modern 2010s-2020s artists, she definitely doesn't deserve number 15. A ridiculous placement.

I decided to take on Drake's Take Care and hey guys, does Drake make any other songs? Why do they all sound the same? Does he do anything other than sad boy shit? Of the three Drake releases I've now listened to, this one is easily the best one. I didn't hate the experience, for that Drake deserves some kudos. But, I don't think there's anyway to view Drake positively in 2024. Maybe in 2011 this seemed special, but in 2024 I can easily say that this does not deserve to be on this list, let alone at 47. Giving Drake a pity placement is fine, but not in the top 50.

I have never understood the love that Hotel California garners. Like, the song is good, but it's not earth shattering, and the rest of the album is pretty typical rock for the era. There is just so little content that I haven't got much to say, it's competent enough to not be laughably bad, but it's also so run of the mill there's no highlights. Picking it for a list like this is what I'd call a safe option, not a real option.

I'll be frank, I'm not very familiar with Robyn or Body Talk, so maybe I don't have context on how important this album was to the history of the genre or music at large. Though, to my ear, the album bounces between having wonderful dance pop tracks to having some really boring, repetitive tracks. Still, not the worst album here (not even the worst in this post), it's just hard for me to really gauge how deserving it is for this list.

Probably an album with an unfair advantage, I've been listening to RATM since I was a kid. My favorite Rage album is definitely The Battle of Las Angeles, but I'm not dumb enough to say that should be on the list. Still think Evil Empire had greater music and potentially greater reach than the self titled, but this being here isn't bad. Just a shame it's only at 97.

Did enjoy this a quite a bit. However, musically speaking it feels incredibly one note. This belongs in the top 100 albums ever? Did it really have that level of cultural inspiration? I'm not mad at it being included, not even mad it's at 96, but for it to be in a better spot than the self titled RATM album? Incredibly stupid.

Probably a dumb thing to say, but this is what I expected Drake's album to be like? Fun music and fun lyrics about being a sad boy, a lover boy, and being too playful with women. Honestly, the only reason it gets such low ratings is consistently Usher says shit like this

GET IT?! IT'S CONFESSION PART II, SO HE SAYS PART TWO OF MY CONFESSION!! SOOOO CLEVER come on man. Does it belong on the best 100 list? I don't know. Let someone else decide that.

I have no issue with either of this being on the list, being in the 90s, or any real thoughts to give. Burial isn't quite my vibe musically so I got nothing to say, and Solange is great so it's like. It's cool they're there, no thoughts.

I don't have an issue with George Michael being on this list, but this album? I vibe Faith far more.

Flower Boy by Tyler the Creator is absolutely one of my favorite albums. I'd have imagined that Apple would have chosen Igor, since it's the one people universally seem to adore, but I'm happy Flower Boy is getting love. Flower Boy is my favorite from Tyler and it has special meaning in my heart, so any praise the album can get.

Look, if you're picking AC/DC albums to put on a list, then this is probably the correct pick, but why would you put AC/DC on the top 100 Albums of all Time list? I don't even think they'd qualify for the Top 100 Hard Rock Albums from before the 2000s list! Is it cuz of the Iron Man soundtrack? It's gotta be right?

This is probably my most unpopular opinion: Lady Gaga is overrated as hell. I do not understand what people in 2009 saw in these songs and I still don't get it now. Maybe it belongs on this Top 100 Albums List cuz it had some kind of cultural impact, I mean her music was inescapable for a time. But, I don't get it, I wouldn't put it on my list, and Bad Romance is absolutely one of the most annoying pop songs the radio has ever played.

And, to conclude this long ass pointless post, I'll just jump ahead again to end this on an album I enjoy.

I don't get the weird revisionism that happens around Kid A. I do love it to death, but when it came out it was critically hated. It just feels like everyone treats this as the greatest triumph in music, when the only people that have heard it are Radiohead fans and the weird hipster that tries to act smarter than you in music. Oh well, it's Captain America's favorite album so I guess it works.

I guess more of the issue is Radiohead is one of like, three or four artists on this list that gets more than one spot. Why waste a spot on Kid A at 33 when you have Ok Computer at 12, let some other unnamed artist be on the list instead.

Neither Kid A or OK Computer are my favorite Radiohead albums, but hey, I like Kid A. It's one of four albums I listen to when trying to fall asleep at night, so it's nice to see mentioned I guess.

This song is made in reference to Marvin’s sexual self discovery. I think this is a good point of reference for his journey (or time as an explorer; Columbus). The importance of Ms Goldberg, not just in this song, but throughout In Trousers, is to give Marvin [in his head] his purpose in life. She gave him the role of Columbus, a man who sought discovery. The phrase ‘The world is round’ could be in reference to his homosexuality, although it’s a bit of a reach in my opinion.  

Not just paths you retrace,

I'm talking mountains and space.

I think that perhaps “paths you retrace” could be referring to heterosexuality, something Marvin constantly falls back to in lieu of self acceptance. Likewise, “mountains and space” could be referring to his homosexuality. Given the time period this show takes place in, it’s not far off to consider that Marvin would view his homosexuality as something daunting and vast, a thing best left unexplored. This becomes less far off considering the fact that he had waited to explore that part of himself until presumably his thirties, ten years into his and Trina’s marriage.

I think that the phrase “set those sails” could be in reference to beginning his journey. I think it’s interesting that the women in his life are the ones telling him to do so. I think it might have something to do with the fact that his lack of exploration does end up making the women in his life feel unwanted or hurt, as while he’s not off with other men, he also consistently refuses to do anything with these girls. I think that this might leave a lasting imprint on the women who he chooses to relate to in his life, and this might be his own acknowledgement of this. I think it’s important to note that these are all Marvin’s versions of these people, a look into his own life at fourteen.

The repetition of the line “A good man never fails” in this song is likely in reference to Marvin’s own fears and doubts in his own masculinity. Consistently, Marvin aims to fit into the role of a straight man. A wife, kid, a tight knit family. Throughout his story he clings to normalcy, and I think this is his way of trying to be the picture of a ‘good man’ that he has in his head. It’s kind of expected that in this time period he would have been raised to fit into the very tight box that was the role of a man. Homosexuality was not something that was accepted at the time, and neither was a man who didn’t fit into society’s expectations of what a man should have been.

This segment is possibly in reference to the very inappropriate relationship Marvin had with his teacher. In the stage version of this musical (1992), we see certain choreography that has Ms Goldberg touching Marvin, on the shoulders or otherwise. This includes Ms Goldberg dancing with Marvin and making moves towards him in this song as well, to which Marvin backs away in discomfort. In the Rape of Ms Goldberg by Marvin (a fantasy, to clarify), we see Marvin beg Ms Goldberg for special attention, something he feels he partially has from her already. It's made clear that Marvin, while asking for attention from her, does not want it, nor can he consent to it. I think that it should be very clear that Marvin is not really in the wrong for his relationship with his teacher, rather it is Ms Goldberg for allowing and agreeing to it, as well as making advances towards him.

I think this serves as a warning to Marvin. His fall comes in the form of him beginning a relationship with Whizzer, leaving his wife and child in the process. His desire for men is what leaves his family in shambles, but it ultimately is shown as a huge development in him as a character. I think that steering clear of jail specifically might be in reference to the legality of homosexuality at the time. Obviously, sodomy was still considered a crime when this took place, so avoiding jail would be a literal problem. However, it could also be a warning to a figurative ‘jail’ in the sense of his marriage to Trina, something that traps him in a relationship with a woman who he is incapable of loving romantically or sexually as a gay man.

The idol market is fierce. For the myriad of idols being churned out like factory products, dance and singing have become essential qualities that are demanded of them. To be loved consistently and have a long career, one must possess the essence of a musician. This is the case with B1A4's CNU.

CNU of B1A4 (CNU, Sandeul, Gongchan) secured the top honor in the 'Best Composer Idol' poll conducted from January 17 to 31 on the participatory mobile idol fandom app 'IDOL CHAMP,' with an overwhelming 43.85% of the votes, rising above a dazzling array of candidates.

Since debuting in 2011 as part of B1A4, CNU has walked a solid path as an idol known for singing well while constantly reflecting on the foundation of a musician. He has shone as a lyricist, jotting down lyrics as they come to him, and has earned the title of composer through the melodies he created from his sparkling inspiration.

As this process became refined, he naturally developed the ability to clearly distinguish between what he does well, what suits others, and what the public likes, thereby gaining the capacity of an artist over time. This is also the secret behind B1A4 not just being a fleeting idol group but establishing discipline at the forefront for a long-lasting career.

In connection with this, CNU conducted an interview with iMBC Entertainment, continuously expressing his gratitude to the fans, known as 'BANAs.' Not Me Episode 1 Music

so i think this will be my consistent contribution to the rewatch event because the sound design in Not Me is one of my absolute favorite things about it. i won't be able to find every song (i tried for episode 1 and some are just impossible for me to suss out or i just lose patience) but i'll try to find some of the most memorable ones. (sorry its a little late, i spent 5 hours making bake me please gifs.)

Rivers Told Me Lies by Daniel Gunnarson

I've been searching in the dark Trusting every clue I've found

This song immediately throws us into the deep end. White has been searching for Black in his own way, in his uhh extended breath holding competitions in the bath, and he's trusted the clues that Black can no longer feel him through their 'connection.'

Where are you? Where are you? Where are you?

White has only just landed in Thailand after 10 years away from home and immediately his thoughts all circle to Black. The song cuts off before we can get to more of the lyrics but I think the general idea of the song conveys White's current emotional state, his longing for his brother, his desire to continue seeking him out, and if we want to make a biiiig stretch perhaps their parents are the 'River' that lies to them about their whereabouts.

What's Left Behind by Taylor Crane

This song plays when White arrives to the hospital. This is the first time White has seen Black (what has been left behind) in ten years. Another important note is 'What's Left Behind' is on the album 'Is It a Reflection,' and it must be like looking into a reflection for White - both physically and it's not a too much of a leap to imagine his emotional state likely feels like Black looks on the outside.

Tripping Over Danger by Craft Case

We hear this as soon as Todd launches into his explanation of Black's new gang of friends. You can either interpret this as a warning against the danger of Black's friend group or perhaps the fact that White is nearly very literally tripping over the hidden danger right in front of him.

Safeguard by Charles Holme

safeguard (noun) something that protects and gives safety

This song playing when Gram and White first enter the garage makes me a little emotional. (Shut up I know I'm a Gumpa simp but stick with me.) The garage is meant to be a safe place for the boys, a place where they are protected and secure. It's the home that unites them.

Trade a Moment (Instrumental) by Evening Traveler

Sean and White quite literally trade or share a moment as soon as this song plays. Sean grasps White by the back of the neck and pulls him close and there's some sort of connection there, some sort of energy that passes between them.

Climb On by Jay Denton

The oil fight. I don't really have much to say about it, but this is that upbeat slightly goofy song that breaks a lot of tension the show has been building up.

Along the Rivers by King Peaks

This plays in the beginning of the washing up scene when White is struggling to get the oil off of himself. I really don't think there's any deeper meaning to it other than perhaps the connection to water, but it's a song I pretty easily recognize so I figured I'd mention it.

ALSO I'll derail this ask (sorry! you fell into my music trap) to make recommendations on how to get into their stuff since they have quite a few albums now ^-^ I'll go in order of most accessible album to least :

Get To Heaven : Their best album and probably their most well known one.. I started with this one so of course I am biased BUT. it is the most consistent one in terms of song quality in my opinion. It has a lot of very abrasive sounds, prominent bass (for the bassheads in the crowd <3), same with the drums, the singer makes a lot of funny sounds like eehee and ahaaa! and ooh!!, it's a good time. Notable songs (by that I mean my favorites) : (Well the thing is. The entirety is good. Just don't listen to No Reptiles it's stupid. HOWEVER,) Regret, Spring/Sun/Winter/Dread, Blast Doors, Hapsburg Lippp and Only As Good As My God are my big preferences in there. If you like quieter song listen to the others in priority I'd say. OH OH AND WHEEL. Man Alive : Baby's very first album!! This one I would say is quite depressing but quite catchy as well.. Half of the songs in there are a bit too empty to my personal taste BUUUUT the other half has a talent to make me writhe and cry on the flour. Augh. The sounds are lighter in this one but our good friend mister Johnathan Every love to yell so much it compensates largely. Notable songs : MY KZ UR BF, Qwerty Finger, Schoolin', Photoshop Handsome, Suffragette Suffragette, Come Alive Diana, and from the deluxe version I would say the most important ones to check out are DNA Dump and Wizard Talk BONUS : They collaborated with an ensemble for a concert check it out definitely they're so small in it and they are having so much fun and and there is a brass section it is so charming https://youtu.be/oCH_YGD7oDc AND you should check the demo of MY KZ UR BF. Raw Data Feel : Most recent released album, and it's about how we love phone more than god. Kind of. I'd describe this one as having a very dreamlike quality. It talks about apocalypse and robots and computers and how they are "terrifying and a bit sexy". They really said that. I wouldn't say it sounds more electronic than the others but it has a "blurred" artificial layer to it that makes it very unique. OH AND they did something cool with ai stuff before everyone else so props to them for that. Notable songs : Bad Friday, Pizza Boy, Metroland Is Burning, Leviathan and HEX. MY GOD LISTEN TO HEX. IT'S SO FUCKING GOOD.

Arc : A mixed bag of mehh songs and really REALLY STRONG ONES. Maybe the most sadness inducing album of theirs. It REEKS of despair. Badly. I'm saying that as a good thing. Album that feels like the dusty attic of deceased loved ones on a cold spring morning.. Notable songs : Cough Cough, Torso Of The Week, Choice Mountain, Undrowned, Radiant LISTEN TO RADIANT GOD. If you like those check Kemosabe, No Plan and Justice too. I like these very much.

A Fever Dream : ARGUABLY THEIR WORSE ALBUM. It's very quiet and empty except for a few tunes. I do think it has a very particular atmosphere that I personally ended up warming up to. Don't look up the meanings for the lyrics it's all kind of boring I think you should think about characters instead. Notable songs : Night Of The Long Knives, Desire, Good Shot Good Soldier, Run The Numbers. <- The most impactful songs to me. White Whale makes me very sad if I think about it too. Wahh

RE-ANIMATOR : It's fine. I don't have very strong opinions on this one. It has some really good songs in it. I think the thing with this one is the lyrics are a lot simpler than the others and I like the weirdness better. But it still is worth checking out those guys know how to make music. Notable songs : Big Climb, Planets, Black Hyena, Violent Sun. BONUS : They released SUPERNORMAL as a single around the time of that album and it's better than a good portions of the songs in it so check it out lol. The other single released for this album is the worst song they ever made don't worry about it.

1. Hawaii: Part II by Miracle Musical

I love love love Hawaii: Part II. There is something going on here. The only album this band ever released before disappearing into the aether, with a supposed overarching narrative, and just banger after banger? I think Labirynth is the only song on this album I actually dislike, and almost half of them are in my permanent rotation. I love when albums have songs that seamlessly flow into one another, too! God. This album has motifs???? Wah. There is nothing I could say about this but please give this album a listen if you've never heard of it. It's... I don't know what it is really. It's so good. The only thing that could have made this better would have been including Variations On A Cloud at the end instead of releasing it as a single.

2. Powstanie Warszawskie by Lao Che

I am making you suffer through Polish music and I don't even feel bad. Remember what I said about an overarching plot and songs flowing seamlessly into each next one? Well this is that but on steroids. A Warsaw Uprising themed music album?? No way that could work-- *gets blasted by the power of Lao Che* Like. Jesus Christ. They really made this and they put their all into it huh. This fucks severely.

3. Worlds by Porter Robinson

Is this a good album? Yes. It's a very good album. It's an incredible album filled with absolutely amazing songs. Is this why I put it on here? No. Honestly, Worlds was just so formative to me I think I couldn't not include it in here even if it wasn't amazing. Thankfully it is amazing. It really feels so so important, not just to me but to other people too. I don't know. I just like to put it on, close my eyes, and not do anything but listen. (For the record I really like Nurture and I think Sweet Time is extremely good and Blossom is extremely painful, but this is THE Porter Robinson album.)

4. The Click by AJR

You know what it's like to be in your 20s in the year 2024? Because AJR know, and they're making me feel seen with almost every song on this album. This one also kinda has motifs? It has an Overture with most of the songs included in some way. Anyway, I think most of the songs here are straight up bangers but if you don't wanna listen, maybe at least read through the lyrics. If you're in your 20s or early 30s now, I feel like it captures that feeling painfully well.

5. Human Bloom by RADWIMPS.

Man, I couldn't possibly start talking about my music taste without mentioning RADWIMPS at some point. Consistently my #1 artist at every year's spotify wrapped, at least one of their songs in my on repeat playlists at all times, forever and ever in my heart and in my mind. This album is my favourite of theirs, probably because I was obsessed with it just before the pandemic hit — maybe it feels like the last time things were good or something? Idk! Stick Figure was my favourite song for so so so so long. And Sparkle.... Man. I have no words for Sparkle. All around a really really solid album with quite a few bangers.

6. The Eminem Show by Eminem

Sometimes an album is only good because it came out when you were 17, and sometimes it's only good because you were obsessed with it when you were 17. That's what this is to me. This is me trying to get through high school. This is me coming home on the bus on hot summer days. This is the soundtrack to my teenage angst and my teenage joy.

7. Forever Daze by RADWIMPS

Hey guess what I'm obsessed with this band. I wanted to say this one just came out a few months ago but I checked and it was in 2021???? So time just isn't real anymore huh. Not as dear to my heart as Human Bloom, but I feel like this one has a more... consistent quality. All the songs are good. And Masaki Suda featured on one of them???? Heaven.

8. Mentors by Fish in a Birdcage

Okay so this might be recency bias because I think this came out like two weeks ago? But I am so obsessed with this album. Long Way From Home stole my heart when they released it as a single, and the rest of the album is also sooo good. Not just two great songs in an otherwise mediocre release: this has a few great songs in an otherwise good release. Really liking this one.

9. All At Once by The Airborne Toxic Event

I have no idea what I can say here. This is my go-to when I'm writing but want something more uniform than my playlists. It has a very distinct vibe, but not sure if I could pin it down. I only listen to two songs from this one outside of the album, actually, but I will often play the Whole thing.

10. Atlas by Sleeping At Last

Can any music rec list be complete without mentioning Sleeping At Last? I mean it probably can, but not one of mine. I'm cheating a bit by listing what is actually two albums: Atlas I and Atlas II. I think of it as one single experience though. I couldn't pick just one of them if I wanted to. Part I had the planets series (and Sun!) but part II had the senses series, and Hearing is one of my favourite songs of all time. Touch also knocks me out every damn time I listen to it. Man's got a real gift for writing lyrics. Probably a good, solid way to end off this list.

spotify wrapped ! 2024

it's been a whole year!!! i think i'm more happy with my spotify wrapped this year, since all the songs on my top listened are all very important to me (or at least, i can remember listening to them during a specific time).

okay i'm not sure how much 33,000 minutes is, but my longest day of listening was 547 minutes, which is over 9 hours. jesus christ. but june 30... that was an important day to me. i had an essay due on that day, so the night before i stayed up until 6am writing it (and reading fanfics to take a break, lol). it's really nostalgic, watching the sun rise and hearing everyone wake up.

.................... i'm a little sad that my top 3 songs are all songs i listened to in order to cope with a.... certain event. but. they are all good songs. truly.

hibana (ES COVER....): i fucking love this cover so much. i was recommended to listen to it after an es fan on tumblr said it was really good and i agree. it changed my life. i love the fast tempo, es's cv (i know i've said this before... idc she is so good), es sounds so emotional, i love the lyrics SO MUCH ("amidst a love that missed saying "no"- or something, "i don't want to harbor a love that never ends" and stuff along the lines of "do it properly", etc.)... and. the key change. absolute insanity.

help me, erin!: to be honest, i think this is my most listened to song, since i listened to it way more consistently and i've looped multiple covers (makina remix, piano cover, MUSESCORE piano cover, "sh-style", 8-bit, utau cover, MY ALARM. i'm not joking this is my alarm- or at least the instrumental version is) . awesome lyrics (i don't know why but.... these lyrics are relatable: "ahh, what will i do!? i raise my arm on high", "you are my princess, my selfish princess", etc.), fast tempo, dancy, IV-V-iii-vi progression, the way miku is tuned helps me cope with life okay... idk, it's weird to be obsessed with a touhou fansong (i don't even know touhou) but i just cope like this, okay.

kimagure mercy: what a fun and dancy song. i did transcribe this (and i'm quite proud of it). i think my favorite lyric has to be jubyphobic's english ver, "lonely girl needs a guy to hold on tight, baby". which is SO heteronormative but that's the fun of the song. this was also a major coping song lmao. i think i found all of these songs in the april-june range when i was dying. this song told me that you gotta just let it go and leave. "letting him walk? and walk upon you?" "even if i cry and beg you not to go, nothing can possibly change!" "let me hope just a little bit, dammit..."

good child and the fox spirit: yeah.... i found it because of that 0909 animatic lmao. no shame. i originally thought it was amane (before i actually watched milgram) bc i never watched the animatic. i don't have much to say about this song, but it's insanely catchy. that part that goes, "love you, i love you, i love love love love you when you're a good child" or something scratches my brain just right. can't believe kikuo doesn't have music theory knowledge. it's insane.

empurple: ARGHHHHH i found this the last week of june and it powered me to finish my essay. it really reminds me of samsa, with the rhythm and all. i love the tuning of miku (i think it's miku...). rhyming, "please forgive me and purple" and "empurple" is really amazing to me. it's so catchy.

honorable mentions: string theocracy (saved my life), butcher vanity (ashe...), mozaik role (actually saved my life. seriously i don't know where i would be without this song), yin-yang relationship (reminds me of a certain someone....), the nights (good times don't last forever), say it back (also reminds me of...)

WHAT DOES THIS EVEN MEAN??? i got into milgram during april (spring break) so i'm not surprised lol. i can't read the third one, i know the first two are es and kotoko- i'm... really surprised about kotoko? i think i listen to haruka, shidou, mahiru and amane the most? i wish they put all milgram songs under one artist though.

this is ONLY because i listened to fontaine's main and battle themes when i briefly got back into genshin during summer break. it was really fun and reminded me of good days in 2021... but i have no idea how it was that significant.

guys i hate deco27 i swear. i only have him here because he makes a lot of vocaloid songs. i usually don't like this new songs that much, but i think he still has got it sometimes. for example, i really liked aitai-lians and neverland. personally i think his milgram stuff is so much more creative. if milgram counted under his name, i would understand him being my top artist lmao.

because peppino is so EMBARRASSINGLY my type, he was what got me into " pizza tower ". i remember seeing the gameplay trailer a bit ago and thinking it looked cool, then logging it away into my memory banks. when i started seeing artwork from the game and drawings of pepp, i knew i had to check it out.

i made this blog a while ago, but was too shy to actually start using it until a few months after i'd made it.

anything involving cheating / infidelity makes me uncomfortable. also not fond of writing cruelty towards children. angst with no cathartic pay - off bums me out after a while.

really emotionally charged scenes, whether it be really good emotions or really negative ones. arguments are a personal favorite, but i also just really love when a character can open their heart and reveal important things about themselves, their traits or their core beliefs. i tend to Realize things about my characters in the midst of writing them in scenes like that, which chip away their outer layers and expose the true heart of their personality.

ʜᴏᴡ ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴄᴏᴍᴇ ᴜᴘ ᴡɪᴛʜ ʜᴇᴀᴅᴄᴀɴᴏɴꜱ?

i start with what's presented in canon, then run through it with a fine - toothed comb to reveal the smaller details, and build my ideas from that. i LOVE taking the little things, the seemingly minor things, and running with them to fully flesh out a character. a lot of what inspires my peppino muse can be narrowed down to a few select moments in the game / concept art / comics that i simply built upon and explored further.

long rant, very personal

nothing new honestly, I know y'all are sick of hearing the same lame story over and over again

You know how sometimes certain sounds, images or even smells can evoke some nostalgic memories from the past? It happens to everyone, right? To me, it doesn't matter if these flashbacks good or bad, it means I'm screwed either way. It's even worse when the memories are happy, because so many things are gone forever and there is no going back.

Recently I've been playing sims, and they were listening to the radio. I forgot that a long time ago I put some of my favorite songs in one of the folders, so the "Pop" station in the game has some real songs along with Simlish ones. I haven't listened to some of those songs in years.

Then that one song started playing, and an entire part of my life flashed before my eyes. I listened to that song a lot while on the road, during my weekly travels from my hometown in Donetsk oblast (where I was born and lived 'till I was 16) to Donetsk city, where my grandmother and other relatives lived, and where I attended some courses before the uni. I also listened to it on the road to another town, where my other grandma and my best girl friend lived, so I visited her every long holiday.

Why all these boring details are significant in any way?

Both intercity bus stations in Donetsk, which used to be my destination, no longer exist. "Zapadnyi" and "Pulitovskyi" they were called. "Zapadnyi" was located near the airport, so it was completely destroyed in battles for Donetsk airport back when russia first invaded us, in 2014. It wasn't even fully finished before being destroyed.

No buses or passengers there anymore.

"Pulitovskyi" station was not that far too, russian militants even blew up the bridge connecting the station with the city. To be honest, even when I lived in Donetsk, I no longer visited that part of the city, it was just too sad.

I know that it's not important on a surface level, all these places are just decorations, it's not the end of the world. But our memories, our lives consist of such decorations, random places on the map. When everything around falls apart and changes so suddenly, it feels weird and disorienting, most of the time I try to avoid direct contact with these changes, but I can't control my memory.

Fast forward to today, I will probably never be able to return to the city that I used to love so much. And my grandma no longer lives in Donetsk, she's "russian" now, along with brainwashing that often comes with such status. You already know it if you for some reason read my posts. She thinks that russia and putin are saving and liberating us here in Ukraine. I no longer call her "grandma" or call her at all, I have her blocked on my phone, our chat deleted. Funny enough, my ex friend also lives in russia now. Or so she was the last time I checked.

My other grandma from the town in Donetsk oblast left the country and is a refugee now. I have so many great memories of that town, if the russians will advance further in the Donbas (which they are trying to do) the town will become another Bakhmut, Vuhledar, etc. This is Mar'inka now, very close to the aforementioned town:

There was a town, now it's a lifeless desert.

I don't have that many memories, because I never had too much going on in my life. I know, it's embarrassing. Not only have I never been to other countries, I haven't even traveled much in Ukraine. My whole life until 2021 was in the Donbas region. Even my vacations were there, we didn't have money to travel. Every summer we would go to the Azov sea, which is now completely under the control of russia. What I wouldn't give to be once again on the shore of that godforsaken sea, even though I can now afford something better. I remember its smell and miss it so much. I was 18 when russia first came to my home to tear it apart. I couldn't live normally, I couldn't plan anything, I couldn't even buy furniture for my apartment because I only dreamt about leaving, and it was impossible to bring anything big with us through all the military posts from Donetsk. Years later, when we thought we are about to finally start living, traveling, enjoying everything that was taken from us for so long… yeah, you know the story.

Now life suddenly seems so short, it's passing by and I'm helpless to change anything. I'm so sick of living through this shit. Sick of the russians stealing my youth, my life, our lives, poisoning our memories, ruining everything around us.

I swear, I held it together before that fucking song started playing. I probably shouldn't post this, I have to at least disable reblogging, it's too embarrassing.
