I am thrilled to announce the Bioshock AU, Always a Lighthouse — a collaborative effort between myself and @robinette-green!

This story takes place within the war-torn world of Rapture, years after an uprising that left the city in shambles and saw you narrowly escaping with your life.

Now you're back... and on a warpath to make things right.

Always a Lighthouse follows the story of a y/n who returns to Rapture after swearing to never step foot in that dreaded city again, for the sake of both their own conscience, and the lives of those they left behind.

Their family is dead. Their friends aren't any better off. The only solace they found before making their escape was that of Rapture's kindly caretakers; two individuals with unmatched patience and a natural talent for making friends with even the snottiest of children, they were more human than anyone...until they weren't.

Until the city took that from them.

And you? Well, in years past you wouldn't have batted an eye at the treatments, much too young to understand what was really going on in the world around you. Life was velvet carpets and silky, white curtains. Elegant banisters, rose petals, shining lights—

and dancing angels. Then one day, when their lights went out, all became clear. All at once you were forced to reckon with the damage that had been done.

Returning to this city means taking up the mantle of Splicer, if only to keep your true identity hidden - and finish the job you started so many years ago.

If that's what it takes, you'll gladly accept this blood on your hands.

The fic for this au is already in the process of being written, and we hope to drop it on Ao3 in the near future. Until then, keep an eye out for updates and more information, as Robin and I are both ecstatic to show it off!

In the world of Existencia, there are three different types of Sanctums where Laniaturas have since inhabited since after The Great War:

💐SANCTUM NATURA ━  Where Le Jardin is a part of.   Ruled by the Natura Sisters, the first thirteen daughters of ENIGMA  and EXISTENCE.      Sanctum Natura is composed of 13 different world sanctuaries, each with different themes.      Each of the worlds contain a wide array of members chosen by their ladies.     This group serves to be the morally upright faction of the bunch, each world meant to be paradise or a utopia for those who live in it.      The members are defenders, judges, and protectors of their kind, and have a role to play to prevent tragedies happening to both humans and laniatura.    Since this group believes that Humanity and  Laniatura have a chance to live in co-existence in the world, even though the future of it is still bleak.     In short, they’re pretty much the ones making sure peace and order remains in the world of Sanctum Existencia. ( i’ll go into detail to each world in a different post soon )

🧬SANCTUM TECHNICA ━ Basically the counterpart of Sanctum Natura.     Ruled by the Technica Siblings, The other eight children of ENIGMA and EXISTENCE.    This group contains 8 different world sanctuaries and has a very dystopian and autocratic lifestyle  and way of living.   Think of 1984 and Fahrenheit 451.    Their members consist of Laniaturians so who so loathe the existence of Humanity and wish to eradicate them so only the Laniaturians can roam free in the world.      Their systems are highly destructive and catastrophic, as they have little regard for the will or right of those they consider below them.      They are also responsible for the creation of the Verfallen, stripping them of their wills.     Their highly tyrannical and inhumane visions of the world are heavily frowned upon, hence why The Technica is always as odds with Natura. ( i’ll go into detail to each world in a different post soon )

🌼SANCTUM CELARE ━ These are the various Laniaturian Sanctuaries scattered all over the world, unlike Sanctum Natura and Sanctum Technica, no LudeServa guards these domains.    But they revere the Illucesco and LudeServas as patron Gods and Goddesses.    It’s completely a society run by the Laniaturas and heavily enriched with their culture.       Some of these sanctuaries have names known in mythical tales ( such as avalon, the lost city of atlantis, neverland, el dorado, etc. )     These domains have existed since the time of the great war, Laniaturas building hidden sanctuaries where they can hide to escape being hunted down by humanity.      Although unlike Natura and Technica, anyone who chooses to become residents of these Sanctuaries are not allowed to leave ever again as a protective measure.

The Sanctuaries of the Laniatura are meant to be safe places, untouched by human or mortal hands.     But other than this, The Sanctuaries are much like hidden worlds out of bounds from human logic.     It’s meant as a paradise where literally your dreams can come true, a place where your happiness takes priority.    Aspirations and Wishes are encouraged, a lot of people who have visit the sanctuaries either seek solace, want to break away from the harshness of reality, or just want to relax and actually have a pleasant time.

The Worlds of Sanctum Natura are the only few sanctuaries that humans might wander through much like a rabbit hole to wonderland.     Because the LudeServas of Sanctum Natura are the ones with the most hope that humans and laniatura have a chance for co-existence.     So those who spend a day in paradise and eventually see that the Laniatura aren’t as awful as they were judged would help spread the thought that this resentment between them was worthless in the first place.      Yet if humans happen to wander in for some reason and have not maintained a lasting relationship with any of Sanctum Natura’s members, they’d simply wake up to their old lives with no memories of the sanctuary, yet there’s a lingering thought of happiness, as if they woke up from a very pleasant dream.
