Juliette Motamed as Ayesha Alkaaf and Sofia Barclay as Zarina Zee in We Are Lady Parts S01E05 "Represent".
Despite Ayesha's frosty exterior, when she fancied someone, she had zero chill.

Sooooo…..I realize that you can’t base character age off of the actors age, but, there’s a significant age gap between Brett Goldstein and Sofia Barclay, who plays his sister.
Does that gap exist for the characters? Because if it does, that opens up so many possibilities for the family dynamic.
There’s 18 years between the actors, if that translates to the characters (which it might not) then Roy was already professionally playing when his sister was born.
Was his ability to be financially secure and therefore take care of his family a factor?
Did he take care of her in certain ways because he was independent and could?
They obviously have a solid and loving relationship if for no other explanation than his intense love of Phoebe and her idolization of him.
Was she an oops baby? Change of life baby?
Is there not meant to be a huge age gap between the characters?
I dunno. But I think about a young Roy Kent, angry and self conscious and doing the best he can and it makes me want to cry. A Roy Kent who was sent away at 9 (which is insane and not at all typical no matter someone’s talent)
Roy Kent, young and grieving his grandfather and feeling so alone.
Roy Kent, who now has money and fame and people he doesn’t know smile when they see him, say his name with joy and admiration and buy him a pint.
Roy Kent, who feels just as alone in that crowd of people as he did as a boy who never learned to ride a bike.
Roy Kent, who looks at his infant baby sister and rearranges his entire life to be able to be the solid, stable family that she needs and he never got.
I just cry about Roy Kent a lot.

I love that the fans already predicted two years ago that Dr. O'Sullivan (I dunno her first name), the nice doctor who treated Sharon after her accident, is Roy's sister. The clue is her eyebrows (and Roy told Ted that her sister is a doc), heeee!

Suspected that Dr O’Sullivan was Roy’s sister just from how those scenes in ep 2.08 followed on from each other, but cool to have that confirmed by today’s ep (unless this was already common knowledge and I’m just slow to it)

We Are Lady Parts (Seasons 1 & 2)
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2024
We Are Lady Parts (Seasons 1 & 2, 2021/24, UK)
Creator, Director & Writer: Nida Manzoor
Mini-review:
This show feels pretty much groundbreaking. Sure, it clearly draws inspiration from a lot of sources, but it becomes something completely original and unique thanks to its representation and diversity. I feel like Muslim characters are rarely portrayed with such realism, sincerity and variety. And without falling into any dangerous or bigoted tropes, too. It's obvious that Nida Manzoor writes and directs from experience, and that allows her to speak from her heart through these characters. Also, it certainly helps that they are played by a group of incredibly talented performers. And obviously, I can't end this review without mentioning the fantastic music that we get in pretty much every episode. So yeah, if you're looking for something funny, joyous and truly special, do give We Are Lady Parts a try.

I know jamie x roy's sister isn't a thing, and I don't even know if I would want them to be in canon, but consider this: they are both so fucking hot that seeing them together would make my brain melt

This show, man. It is out to personally get me.
So Roy Kent's sister, who is also the doctor who treated Dr. Sharon back in season 2, is played by Sofia Barclay (Yes, of the tax evading super rich Barclays). Sophia's mother is Farzana Aziz, who is supposedly the daughter of one of the richest men in India but I cannot find out who (alas for the time when google actually gave useful results).
This makes her half South Asian.
Which is what got her cast in We Are Lady Parts as Zarina, and now in the film Love Again as a sister to Priyanka Chopra.
So does that make Roy Kent half South Asian? We know that his dad is in his 60s and from south London and is (of course) a little bit racist, so would it be their mother who is South Asian?
Or, she's supposed to be white. In that ambiguous way that lets Priyanka Chopra also play ambiguously white roles while she hypocritically sucks up to fascists in India and talks about being a minority abroad.
I swear, this is what it would be like being a person of colour in a Bridgerton world. You never know what is real and what is supposed to be ignored. A multiculti ode to colourblind kyriarchy.

Love Again (2023) Review
Saddled with an atrocious script and mismatched leads, Love Again will break your heart as it wastes its far more interesting supporting cast. #Review
Love Again will convince you once is enough. At its heart – which is very, very firmly on its sleeve, LOVE AGAIN flirts with a really cute concept: text messages to a lost love that serendipitously bring together two lonely hearts; A YOU’VE GOT MAIL for the Tinder generation. It’s the kind of setup that, in more capable hands, could have had a real shot at becoming a minor classic of the…

Love Again (2023) Review
Two people who have been utterly broken with love that has been lost are brought together when an old phone number has been reassigned to a new phone, and quite frankly they must just need each other at this very moment in time. ⭐️ Continue reading Untitled
