Strike Support Declining - Here's how you can continue to support the writers
Since the WGA strike started on May 2, the public has shown immense support for the writers—sending food, snacks, drinks, and encouragement from across the world all the way to Los Angeles, New York, and other picketing locations.
But loud and vocal strike support—in the news and in public spaces—is notably declining the longer the strike goes on. So we're bringing you a few ways to show writers, studios, and fellow fans: we're still here, and we still stand with the WGA.
1. Post on Twitter (and other social media sites)
You might think social media noise won't be noticed by the studios, but it CAN encourage individual WGA members—and slowly but surely put pressure on the studios to make a fair deal.
If you follow WGA members such as Adam Conover (Adam Ruins Everything), John Rogers (Leverage, Librarians), Gennifer Hutchison (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul), Javier Grillo-Marxuach (Lost, The Witcher) [and many many more you can find through their following lists], tell them you support them! Hashtag #IStandWithTheWGA #DoTheWriteThing and tell them that you and your fandom are prepared to support them as long as the strike lasts; that they deserve to have their demands met and you're with them all the way. Boost morale however and whenever you can!
Likewise, actively push back against misinformation/disinformation. See a TikTok claiming that all Hollywood writers are filthy rich and we shouldn't vocally support them? Correct it with well-sourced citations from the WGA, published news articles, and stories from those affected (like the time a writer on FX's The Bear attended the an awards show with his bank account balance in the negative, only to then win an award for Best Comedy Series—proving that good writers on award-winning shows still cannot make a living!)
Remember you can always link to Adam Conover's excellent explanation of WGA demands versus studio refusals, tweeted here.
2. Donate or boost fundraisers
You might be surprised to learn that the picketing locations are not always parties! Sometimes themed pickets are fun, and fandoms and celebrities occasionally are able to fundraise for a food truck or ice cream truck at picketing locations. However, that is the EXCEPTION and not the norm. Writers are asking for food & drinks at many locations.
There are many funds to donate to, and it can be overwhelming to pick one! But one that could use your support RIGHT NOW is the CBS Radford picket line:
Tumblr media
-If you're in LA, you can bring food and snacks directly to that picket line (or get food deliveries sent there, with instructions to be given to the strike captain on duty.) Strike locations are available on the WGA West website and are updated there.
-Or there's a pizza fund for the strike locations (unfortunately Venmo is a US-only donation option)
Tumblr media
-If you're not in LA, donate to the Entertainment Community Fund to support TV and film workers affected by the strike.
-More tips on donating to the strike in this great article!
-Lots of fandoms are organizing donations on their own, for instance the Our Flag Means Death fundraiser on Paypal (updated 30 July 2023 with new link) (available internationally). Check to see if your fandom has started a fundraiser... or start one yourself to show your support! We're happy to give tips on organizing your fandom!
As always, please boost this post and any and all well-sourced information that comes from the WGA or its members. We're happy to fact-check anything you send our way too.

Costume Update….
Wig and Prosthetics.
Make Up!
I have Zero experience in make up or wigs. So this was very challenging for me. Watching various YouTube tutorials and watching the Highly talented @phantomonabudget (< Please follow this Amazing artist)
I tried First Time! myself to apply the prosthetic make up and Bald cap. Was very challenging. Took around one hour to apply. But it was a rushed job. Missed many stages.
(Phantom Prosthetic pieces from studio D FX, Bald Cap Kit from Mehron make up company. )
The Wig!
Again I have no experience in hair or wigs watching tutorials on YouTube on how to style and cut the lace. And some assistance from other Phantom cosplayers and wig makers on social media.
It was a lengthy process to try and make the wig look natural rather than a stuck down mess of gel. Was very tricky. Heat, hot comb. And time. Worked wonders.
(Wig from ‘wigs in fashion’)
I still have a long way to go but slowly getting there to the desired look. Basing my impression on the west end production 2000-2010.

New Member of the Deadpool Corps Unmasked in BTS Photos
Tumblr media
You may have noticed one member of the Deadpool Corps was far deadlier than the rest. WELSHPOOL. @PMullin7 @Wrexham_AFC #DeadpoolAndWolverine ❤️💛 pic.twitter.com/NY06jmEgwA— Ryan Reynolds (@VancityReynolds) July 29, 2024 As we eagerly anticipate the official reveal of the movie's major cameos, Ryan Reynolds has shared on social media a surprising behind-the-scenes look at a masked member of the Deadpool Corps, known as "Welshpool." Spoiler alert! Viewers of FX's Welcome To Wrexham were treated to a special Easter egg—a brief glimpse of a Deadpool Variant adorned in Wrexham AFC’s Welsh colors and dragon emblem during a pivotal scene. The character of Welshpool, as it turns out, is portrayed by none other than Wrexham AFC striker Paul Mullin. In the movie, Welshpool and the rest of the Deadpool Corps face off against Deadpool (Reynolds) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman). Despite Welshpool’s initial defeat, the majority of the Variants regenerate. Before another showdown ensues, "Peterpool" (Rob Delaney) intervenes, persuading the Corps to step aside and allow Wade Wilson and Logan to pursue Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin) to the time-shredder. The film has earned an R-rating from the MPAA for its "strong bloody violence and language throughout, gore, and sexual references." "Marvel Studios presents their biggest blunder to date - Deadpool & Wolverine," the new synopsis humorously states. "A disheartened Wade Wilson lives a mundane civilian life, his days as the morally ambiguous mercenary Deadpool seemingly over. When an existential threat looms over his world, Wade must reluctantly suit up once more, dragging an even more reluctant Wolverine into the fray." Joining Reynolds and Jackman in the film are returning cast members Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Rob Delaney (Peter), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), and Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio). Newcomers to the franchise include Emma Corrin (The Crown) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), who play a TV agent and the sinister Cassandra Nova, respectively. Shawn Levy directs Deadpool and Wolverine, with a script penned by Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells. Read the full article

Million dollar question: if his summer "break" is over and he is showing his face publicly again, can we expect him to reactivate his socials soon?
That is the million dollar question. Personally, I'm assuming it's happening after Labor Day, which is the unofficial end of summer in the U.S. I'm assuming he would make some sort of post for his upcoming appearance at NYCC in early October. Also, I'm assuming posts in coordination with Jinx for this "fall" ad campaign with him and Dodger. We still don't know what the strike means for TIFF and Pain Hustlers.
Here's something interesting I saw recently on What We Do in the Shadows press. FX clearly stated the date the interviews were done with cast, pre-SAG strike on the press interview videos. It now makes me wonder if big studios might have rushed some very early pre-taped press for fall releasing projects, with dates showing they were done pre-Strike. Could he and Emily both have taped some interviews before the strike started in July?

Inspired by an incredible comment in the notes of one post: @ FX/Hulu social media accounts 🚫 no more free promo from us shippers of an “imaginary romance” 🚫 the beautiful artful content made on here is off limits to all of you! you have lost your sydcarmy privileges, stop using the table scene and the panic attack montage for clout if it don’t mean nothing and sydcarmy as we imagine it (and which has the potential to be ✨fantastic✨) ain’t happening! enough!!! 😤
I understand this sentiment wholeheartedly - FX/Hulu keeps playing the field to gauge fan responses, they post Claire up on IG while giggling with Sydcarmy shippers in the comment sections on fan edits over TikTok. It's a clown show alright but we're not the one's performing on stage. It's a double act between the studios that won't pay their damn workers and the 'reporters' who won't mind the business that pays them and ask Ayo and the rest of the production team some none shipping related questions for once. 🥴

Transform your message: Expert 2D animation services for impactful storytelling
In the world of Animation, 2D animation services have always been an influential and captivating medium. Its facility to bring stories and characters to life has charmed audiences for years.
One of the main elements that 2D animation service providers make truly great is the art of storytelling.
Tumblr media
2D Animation
2D animation services are the art of moving into a two-dimensional space. This includes backgrounds, FX, creatures, and characters. The illusion of drive is created when people's drawings are prioritized together over time.
One second is generally distributed into 24 frames. Subject to the style of 2D animation services, there can be as numerous as 24 exclusive drawings in one second of Animation (24fps) or as little as two.
Usually, 2D animation services are done on "2s", meaning there is a sketch every 2 frames (12fps). This allows performers to give Animation its unique look and save on production time/costs.
While this procedure is from time to time referred to as standard Animation, ordinary 2D production has changed from hand-drawn procedure using paper and pencil to the implementation of virtual techniques using computer software like Adobe After Effects or Toon Boom Harmony.
2D Animation in the 21st century
2D Animation is a diverse and popular medium that's making a huge comeback. It can be seen widely in websites, mobile apps, advertisements, feature films, video games, and TV shows.
Popular modern instances of 2D Animation include TV shows F is for Family and Rick and Morty. Social media platforms like Snapchat are début 2D animated series with ratty 1-3 minute incidents. And there's even been a modern surge in 2D platform video games like Cuphead.
The mandate for 2D animation services that can create engaging and entertaining content has grown considerably in the last decade. There's a need for enthusiastic and skilled artists who are adept at creating appealing and original content and who love motion graphics.
We've gathered everything you need to know and done the homework about the industry to help you get ready for your future.
So what does a 2D animator do?
What is the role of a 2D animator?
2D animators convey messages or stories by making their backgrounds, objects, and characters move in a two-dimensional environment.
Besides pictures, they must also be great storytellers. They are liable for clearly communicating a message or story by moving characters in a way that involves viewers.
While maximum work is done on a computer, standard hand-drawn techniques are still valuable skills to have. Other responsibilities may include:
· Drawing designs
· Planning characters
· Mounting storyboards
· Producing special effects
· Enlivening scenes
· Transitioning backgrounds
This work is just one part of the assembly pipeline, which is divided into three parts: post-production, production and pre-production.
Depending on the size and project of the agency or studio, animators may work with a number of other people, so people skills and strong communication are a must.
Advantages of Animation in Branding and Website UI/UX
Imagine your ideas, your stories, your wildest ideas, and bring them to life through the charming art of 2D animation services. It's like a symphony of pixels, where your message, worlds materialize, and characters shine happier than a shooting star.
Improved User Engagement:
Animation isn't just pleasing to the eye; it's a powerful tool for augmenting user engagement. From dynamic loading sequences that keep users entertained to subtle hover animations that grab attention, expert animations alter your website UI/UX design into an interactive playground.
Clearer Communication:
Intricate ideas and complex concepts often need more than words – they require visuals that clarify and simplify. 3D animation services provide the means to connect even the most difficult messages in a way that's captivating and easily digestible.
Memorable Branding:
Standing out in a packed virtual landscape isn't easy, but Animation can make your brand memorable. Whether it's a consistent visual theme that weaves through your website, a mascot that charms users, or a signature animated logo, 2D animation services reinforce brand recall.
Showcasing Functionality:
2D animation services aren't just about aesthetics; they can also showcase functionality. Intuitive UI animations, explanatory animations, and interactive walkthroughs guide consumers through your app or website, making them feel at ease and enhance their experience.
Boosted Conversion Rates:
Appealing animations can keep users on your website longer, increasing the chances of conversion and reducing bounce rates. Whether it's managing consumers toward a call to action or generating an outstanding journey, Animation adds to a positive consumer experience that can lead to greater conversions.
The Impact of Storytelling in 2D Animation
When it comes to 3D video animation services and 2D Animation, storytelling plays a crucial role in leaving a lasting impression and captivating the audience. By combining narrative, sound, and visual elements, storytelling alters 2D animations past mere graphics into immersive practices.
Engaging Target Audience Through Captivating Narratives:

THE WE GENERATION
Tumblr media
During the Pandemic we all changed. We went through something.
A shared global anxiety.
Sadness. Disconnection. Isolation.
Except for one area.
We all turned on our webcams...
...no not to start OnlyFans accounts...
...well not ONLY to start OnlyFans account...
We went online. Embracing video calling. We started to live our lives through vertical frames and zoom brady bunch grids.
We began to watch each other live. And not in a creepy way.
And we stopped going to the movies.
So our focus changed. We went from craving an escapist movie experience to craving community. Instead of living our lives vicariously through a movie star - we started living through each other.
And we all started seeing how we lived. The unity of the family couch. No one dressing up to impress - everyone dressing down to stay comfortable, secure. In some ways our social masks began to fall as we started using social media more...with filters of course...we were all so beautifully out of focus with amazing lashes.
Our laundry piles were no longer a big shameful secret. We all had them.
So we began to be entertained by each other. Sharing time with each other in a way that we all stopped doing sometime last century. We did zoom comedy - or some of us did zoom comedy - school reunions - family reunions...instead of a text - we facetimed our loved ones. Craving connections.
My daughter would zoom with her friends. They would play online games through Roblox and facetime each other from a parents phone. She spent hours connecting with her friends during the shutdown - and this was after doing school over zoom with her teacher. Her way of connection is now through a lens. She's the filmmaker and star and studio. And it's all happening live!
I love going to the movies. There's nothing like seeing a famous person's pores and giant eyes starring down at you from an enormous silver screen that would make Nicole Kidman blush. Heart break does feel good in a place like this Nicole, and so does the bass hitting you as a superhero blows up the big bad in the 3rd act and either causes a giant laser to shoot into the sky or stops a giant laser in the sky. Either way there will be a giant laser in the sky. There always is a giant laser.
Tumblr media
  And that's the problem.
There's a phrase in storytelling and screenwriting - rise and fall. Tension and release.
If you have a movie that is all BAM! BAM! AHHH!!!! for 3 hours, the audience will numb out by the 3rd act. Also true if you have a movie that's just "She died." "When?" "Yesterday, at the hospital, from the disease that caused us to fall in love as we talked slowly over coffee for the last 90 minutes". ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Or my favorite movie - the one where the score has only one note and that note is dystopian sadness where no one is allowed to laugh if they want to still look cool brooding. No jokes! No jokes aloud!
And the same is true for the variety of movies currently in release.
If every movie is a big superhero movie or action film with giant lasers and 2,000+ visual FX artists than you numb out. Every movie kinda hits you the same so why go? What is it about the movie that will make me get to the theatre, really overpay for popcorn and soda, just very a expensive butter vehicle, and spend nearly $80 for my family of 3 to risk getting sick and being disappointed after 3 hours. Oh and let's not forget the nearly 30 minutes of previews that make you sort of forget what movie you were seeing - on second thought that's nice -  kinda makes the movie even fresher for you. You're eyes will light up as you realize, having forgotten, that the movie you are about to see stars Ryan Reynolds. "I had no idea he was in this - what is this movie called again? Oh Deadpool 3! Neat!".
So now, post-pandemic, we're a little pickier when we go to the BAM! BAM! Place with the pricey corn treat. We'd rather scroll through TikToks and Reels and YouTube - watching silly skits, short clips of our favorite comedians, soap cutting videos and pimple popping.
We are the entertainment. Human behavior at it's purest and sometimes - grossest. Straight from the source. Not filtered through a well lit studio set with a million dollar iMax camera but just @theofficialkallmekris for laughs or your friends tiktok where they share their anxieties about entering their 30s deep in debt and alone but ask you to post funny cat memes to cheer them up and you do - because you're that good of a friend damn it. Also you might too need cheering up.
We are the studio.
Right now the OG studios are spending 200 million dollars per movie, with stressful CGI, huge stakes, lots of latex suits and mo-cap characters - when if they just relaxed a little - learned from the audience a bit more - they'd realize that the make believe on that giant screen no longer seems to include - well - us.
I don't have superpowers but I might be able to figure out how to dance the Renegade.
And that would feel like a super power to me.
My best advice to the studios as they stare into the fire of Fran Drescher and the “but he's right though”, Adam Conover* - my advice to them is simply this...
Simplify.
Tell smaller stories. And more of them.
Right now my choices at the theatre are: superhero who's funny or superhero who's sad, a great old actor in a movie for one last ride and no really - that's it - that was his last one - he's 81 ya'll, or Tom Cruise not in a jet. Oh and that really exciting, joy filled Christian movie about trafficking children. And then a movie that's not an action film but a thoughtful movie about scientists intent on blowing up the world in a rousing comedy about the Atomic Bomb. There is a Barbie movie - there is that - but even that seems dystopian as Barbie faces the cold harsh reality of mortality and public shaming. (see next blog for that bombshell)
When I was a kid the multiplex was filled with family adventure films, buddy cop movies, silly slapstick comedies, daring dramas shot on an actual location - like if there was a desert they went to the desert not a sound stage. I know! Right!?! Holy crap! And just a wide range of movie genres, star pairings and they all made you feel great. Want old people in a pool with aliens? Here you go! Want a talking hairy Yoda who's cute until he gets hangry? Voiced by Howie Mandell? How about a pet detective who seems really just mentally very very stable? Or if you want a long one you can go see what it's like to be a burn patient in world war II while people do arial tricks with torches in a desert and that guy from Lost washed his long hair a lot and in the end yeah he dies but the Nazis lose!
No dystopia. No depression. You left the theatre feeling like you got shrunk down, rocketed into space, learned karate, had a great adventure while babysitting after you got out of Saturday detention with your enemies who now, somehow, are your best pals as you head off on horseback to survive the old west all while getting back home in time to hear that your parents are divorcing but your dad is now your nanny.
If studios instead of spending 200 cold ones on one movie spent 20 warm and fuzzy ones on 10 movies that made us feel just all the feelings and were written about, well, us... they'd find we'd be more than willing to pay that $20 for exploded corn!
Us - not some guy who gets bit by a radioactive billionaire - but parents trying to keep their kids safe and happy, young folks trying to find their way in life, best friends who solve crimes...you know....normal stuff!
But about us.
We are the entertainment.
Not the pixels.**
But us, pimples and all.
*No disrespect to Adam Conover. Adam is a kind human being who I greatly admire. He also has really good hair.
**Pixels is a much underrated comedy - go see it - it stars another Adam but is written by a great guy named Tim who loves movies more than if Spielberg, Lucas, Scorsese and Marshall were spliced into one giant filmmaking mutant director.

The use of AI in the entertainment industry is very impactful and continues to make its presence felt in various creative formats. AI-powered video editing software can help editors create stunning visual effects, while AI-powered music composition tools can help composers create intricate melodies and harmonies with ease, according to, (saini, 2023). As a music producer and engineer I wanted to experience creating a song or music using the AI algorithm. I started with BEATBOT, which is an AI platform that composes songs for you, by just using a few words that describes the song you’re trying to compose. With BEATBOT I was able to not only have the application create a whole song but, there was a way to edit the parts of the song that I didn’t like, which I could tailor to my own word choice. The second AI generated platform I used was MUBERT, which was a beat generated AI application that was used by attaching a genre, to moods, themes, instruments and BPM’s etc. to compose a beat algorithm of your choice. Although I didn’t like the product of the beat making algorithm the song writing algorithm was somewhat helpful in guiding to writing hooks, bridges, and choruses for my song.
Should we prepare for the trend of robotic algorithms leading us to the dancefloor in the clubs, and other forms of entertainment including, movies, dance and sports?
AI is being used in various forms of entertainment, including film, television, music, gaming, virtual reality, and social media. For example, AI algorithms can be used to generate new forms of content, such as virtual reality experiences, interactive video games, and personalized news articles, according to (Gupta, 2023). As a result. of the trending topics of AI that’s being discussed at tea shops, technology conventions, technological institutions, and technological universities, let’s look inside the AI product, that’s effecting society as a whole and what’s the need for AI. (1) Content Creation - AI algorithms can be used to generate virtual reality experiences, VR games, and even magazine articles. AI can also be used to for human creative functions like, video editing, sound fx, and other special fx. (2) Audience engagement - This can help the larger media companies with algorithms to innovate content that reinvigorates their audience to engage more assertively. (3) Distribution - AI can be used to enhance distribution of content on various platforms such as television broadcast, social media, and streaming services, to innovate promotion strategies.
Furthermore, let’s look at some other innovative ways AI has transcended the entertainment industry. In the real world and beyond AI is really transforming the entertainment algorithm. For example, (1) Scripts - a script analysis tool can be used by film studios to predict success commercially of screenplays. The tool analyzes the script’s characters, themes, and plot points and then compares this data to the performance of similar films in the past to predict box office success according to, (LeewayHertz, 2023). (2) AIVA - (Artificial Intelligence Virtual Artist) which is an artificial tool to create original music based on user preferences, like BEATBOT, which can be used in films, video games, TV Shows, and for social media. (3) Deep Motion - Deep Motion is an animation tool that can be used for 3-D animation purposes. The machine uses algorithms to simulate movement and behavior, allowing realistic and natural looking animations. (4) Ziva Dynamics – A software toolfor creating realistic characters for films and video games. The machine learnt algorithm stimulates the movement of muscle and skin, which inoculates detailed characters.
Next, let’s look at the importance of EQ vs AI. While the world becomes more and more dependent upon automation and AI -- make no mistake, AI already exists albeit with significant support from humans -- global society will need to consider the importance of emotional intelligence in the modern workforce. As the world places more emphasis on the development of technology, and particularly AI and automation, it is important that we also place a corresponding emphasis on developing EQ. This starts with education, and it starts at a young age according to, (MindSpark, 2023). This demonstrates a need not only for an alternative for human intelligence but also emphasizes the need for more emotional intelligence to control the algorithms of AI and the forceable intelligence to combat the enhancement of the AI technology. If in-fact AI becomes more and more in demand the need for EQ and IQ will be needed to also keep up with the repair of the technology. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is evolving and being released for public use faster than its developers can add essential safeguards in many cases according to, (samgraboys, 2023).
In closing, we must pay attention not only to the algorithm of the successes of AI but also to the signs of hindrance and negative effects it could cause to the culture. In many ways we look forward to the new and innovative way to push the culture forward and for the most part society have done a great job controlling the uses of the technological force that controls the dopamine’s we exude. But, the concerns that are spewed in the news about AI needs to be taken into account as we come into this new age of automation. AI helps cybercriminals automate attacks, scan attack surfaces, and generate content that resonates with various geographic regions and demographics, allowing them to target a broader range of potential victims across different countries according to, (Patterson, 2023). Also, Unrestrained by ethics or law, cybercriminals are racing to use AI to find innovative new hacks, says Recorded Future CEO Christopher Ahlberg, according to (Patterson, 2023). In many cases we don’t pay close enough attention to the hazard signs until it’s too late, but it seems as if we have an idea of what to look forward to regarding AI cyber-attacks and the security that needs to be in-tact to avoid said attacks. So, with everything that’s been pondered upon. I would say we should look forward to the futuristic AI I trend and brace for its enormous futuristic impact.
