no but really, I think it fits him really well! I had thought his UM would probably involve something kinda sleight-of-handy or pickpockety! and I looooved that it made such a nice loop-around back to episode 1. ❤️ I was. kind of half-expecting him to just run out and punch Riddle in the nose again. but instead this time 'twas he who offed the queen's head! it was great! and he did it while stone-cold terrified out of his mind! because Ace is the only remotely normal or well-adjusted person at NRC and therefore the only one who is like "we're going to literally die, this is super effed up". but he did it anyway!!!! I AM SO PROUD

Still laughing about how they didn't want to "invalidate" anyone's worldstate. But that is exactly what they did.

Morrigan is the most obvious, I really cannot believe that a Morrigan who was a mother would have so willingly taken into her something like Mythal if she was a mother - of at this point - a 10 year old Kieran. Maybe she would, but it would be for different reasons.

Isabela is the most annoying to me. She's talking about how "Kirkwall taught her about family." as if she couldn't have been given up by Hawke to the Arishok. As if she couldn't have ran away from Kirkwall and never looked back. If I had met an Isabela from a world state like that, she would never have said that.

Harding talking about the Inquisition also feels like it misses some... extra flavour here and there based on actual choices. Like my Inquisitor didn't do well with Blackwall, and he didn't survive to see the end of the game. But Lace speaks about him fondly and in such a way that I don't think she should if the Inquisitor never 'redeemed' him.

Zevran is never mentioned by name, but what if a warden outright killed the assassin hunting them. Or he turned on them in Denerim and died later? Then explain to me that entire banter Lucanis has with Harding about why House Arainai messed up so bad they went trough several Talons about it. And now the Crows don't take contracts in Ferelden anymore.

At that point the reason that was given to us for the lack of worldbuild choices to prevent 'invalidating everyone's worldstate' feels null and void. Because you have. You have invalidated many worldstates already by bringing back these character or have people talk around them in such a way that doesn't make sense.

character design test for Vex, the god of chaos!! y'all kind of already know him as Eggs Benedict; though this is what he looked like before he got turned into a cat (as punishment for breaking the rules and bringing people from another dimension into Atria just to mess with the other gods).

we completely rewrote his entire story as well and now he's kind of a major character in HIWYA ^^; he ends up sticking around Aya in his cat form because she's just as chaotic as he is and they basically end up being partners in crime, haha!

but here he is in god form! he ended up looking a lot younger than I initially imagined him to be, but I feel like it kinda fits his rebellious and chaotic neutral personality lol xD

Valicer Multiamory Month, Day Eight: Friends to lovers (Multiplayer Wonderland AU)

It's time for another installment of Multiamory Month (as per @polyamships), with today's prompt being another classic -- "friends to lovers!" Though I ended up interpreting it a bit more loosely than usual -- specifically, I made it "childhood friends to lovers," mostly so I could write something featuring my newly-named Multiplayer Wonderland AU! AKA the "Victor and Smiler were Alice's childhood best friends, find her years later in the asylum, and get sucked into Wonderland with her when she returns and go through American McGee's Alice with her; then Smiler and Alice end up at Victor's Corpse Bride wedding, and circumstances make it so Alice: Madness Returns happens early and Alice sucks Victoria and Emily into Wonderland as well" AU. XD I haven't got the whole AU fleshed out yet, but I do know that it eventually ends with a "Four Victorians Riding A Roller Coaster" situation, with Victor and Victoria officially married and Alice, Smiler, and Emily living with them and enjoying their company. So to speak. :p

And THAT brings us to our story! Because, after struggling with what I wanted to write for this prompt for quite a while, I eventually settled on "Victor and Alice comparing their childhood dreams of being married to each other and Smiler with the reality of their adult situation." So here is Victor and Alice sitting in the parlor together, just each doing their own thing until Victor brings up a certain question...

“Do you remember how, as children, you, Smiler, and I were always playacting getting married to each other?”

Alice looked up from her book, raising an eyebrow at Victor. “Hard to forget, given how us putting on a wedding for ourselves was the catalyst for all of us getting yanked out of each other’s lives.”

Victor winced. “Right, yes, sorry, dumb question,” he mumbled. “I-I meant more, do you remember how we pictured being married back then?”

Alice tilted her head. “I know how I pictured it – living in a big house with you two, getting to do whatever we wanted all the time.” She looked around the parlor, then grinned at him. “I think I accomplished that goal quite well.”

Victor laughed softly. “Me too...but I was just thinking about – how things have changed since then. How the reality of being married compares to the fantasy.” He smiled cheekily at her. “I remember being much less enthusiastic about kissing you when I was eight.”

“I wasn’t sure I cared for it either,” Alice responded, chuckling. “But I’ve definitely come around on that point.”

“And I’m very glad.” Victor sighed. “Just...it all seemed so much simpler back then. No worries about money, or socializing, or – children,” he added with a faint blush. “All I knew is that you and Smiler were my best friends, and I wanted to spend the rest of my life with both of you. I never thought it might cause a scandal.” He grimaced. “Until my mother and Dr. Kelman had a fit about us giving each other bracelets.”

Alice shuddered as she recalled the screaming, and her father marching her out the door as she cried. “Mmm – the only reason that doesn’t qualify as the worst day of my life is because it was followed almost immediately by the damn fire,” she muttered. “But I get what you’re saying. Relationships become a lot more complicated the older you get.” She smiled at him. “But – as I pointed out – we still got what we wanted as children. And more besides.”

“Very true,” Victor agreed, smiling back. “We went through a lot to get here, but – I consider myself very lucky that I still get to spend the rest of my life with my two best friends.”

“Oh, what are we, chopped liver?”

Alice looked over to see Emily standing in the doorway, arms folded in a teasing scold, Victoria just behind her. “Sorry, but we didn’t know you as children,” she replied, smirking. “You’ll just have to be content with being the ones who actually married Victor.”

“To be fair, the only wedding that truly counted was Victoria’s,” Emily pointed out, dropping her arms. “But I suppose I can be satisfied with that.” She jerked her head. “Anyway – supper’s almost ready, and I’m sure Smiler would like some help setting the table.”

Alice chuckled, setting her book aside. “Of course – we’re on our way.”

honestly I don't think I can be mad at weird inconsistencies in stories, not really, bc I've been working on this detailed outline for my fancomic idea for so long, on and off, and now that I'm working on it again I had to go searching through an inch-thick pile of handwritten notes and three different digital documents (timeline, character profiles, a different outline) to try and figure out what the hell I had planned for continuities, only to find that I was about to write stuff that would have contradicted my earlier worldbuilding

okay. okay. so in the interest of trying to limit what we consider ACTIVELY working on, i'm going to exclude fics that i'm not really sure if i'll ever finish and fics that i haven't actually STARTED writing, but i'm still going to include fics i know i'm going to return to even if i haven't touched them in a while. so let's check the WIP list...

so that is... 15 TOTAL, most of which are currently bsd fics bc i have been bouncing between all of the WIPs there with incredible frequency cus my brain refuses to just STAY PUT ON ONE.

*techinically i haven't actually written anything for NSTK, but because it is one half of the Parallels AU and i have written for Dare(d), which is its partner fic, i'm still counting that as having worked on it. especially since they're 2 POVs of the same story, which means some of the events in Dare(d) will be shown in NSTK as well, so the same dialogue will be used in both for scenes they share.

11. 🛠Is there a scene or anything in the WIP you are struggling with right now?

oh this is about to be so long im so sorry

i think there's something im struggling with with all of my bsd WIPs right now, which is probably part of why there are just so many that i'm actively working on bc if i get stuck on one i can just move to something else for a while ;;;;

largely, i feel like im struggling a lot with figuring out Dazai and Chuuya's characters which obviously affects all of the WIPs since they're all skk-centric!! but they're both such complex characters with a super complex relationship with each other and i really love that about them and i want to be able to get that across, even in the shorter fics!! (this was also a struggle with the torturing kunikida fic, though since it was from Kunikida's POV it was a little easier bc i could show the contrast to what he expected of skk vs. what he saw that day to help get that across)

but just. characterization is ALWAYS an issue for me, especially when i first start writing characters. and i know that it'll be fine bc it always is, i think my anxiety about it causes me to put in the effort to really make the characters work and people usually really seem to enjoy them?? it is one of the things about my writing that people mention most often (and i will never tire of that, see: lots of anxiety about it) so i know i should calm down about it but HHHHHH

on the brightside(?) i do have a WIP that's still very much in the planning stages that will allow me to look at and play with a lot of the more toxic/codependent/generally unhealthy aspects of the two of them + their relationship while also giving me some more wiggle room in their characterization, which i think will be a fun way to help curb some of that anxiety when i actually start writing it.

and outside of that, looking at a specific WIP for an issue im facing currently: Loyal Dog is giving me SO MUCH TROUBLE bc i know what needs to happen and i know overall how the story is going to go and what the main points in it are. but actually figuring out how to write what i need to get down is. a struggle.

like it's just. i know the main plot and the main points and some of what needs to be done to get there. but the finer details are tripping me up. this time i think the outsider POV is working against me here, but also having it from an outsider POV is necessary to the story as i want it told!! idk. it's a LOT stupid little details that i need to plan and decide on while trying to make it plausible that's stressing me out more and hhhhhhhhhh

Ever since I finished my last piece, I've had like zero motivation to draw. I've tried to draw Raya and a friend's oc but nothing's coming out right and it has sent me reeling.

we've spent something like 22 hours on it so far (there's 4 hours we missed and need to catch up with) and we're less than a quarter of the way through the year and I think one of the biggest challenges is going to be just coming up with things to keep adding to it
