Hey everyone! This is just a quick frequently asked questions post with a couple answers to repeated questions in my inbox. Hopefully this addresses them all, but if you have anything not included here just shoot me an ask and I'll get back to you if I can.

★ Circuit Content Warnings: Circuit is rated 18+ for the following: sexual themes, drug and alcohol use, explicit language, and violence. This blog is ALSO 18+.

★ Ask Guidelines: I'm willing to answer general asks surrounding the story, characters, and mechanics of the game and blog. I'm also willing to answer asks of the following (more specific) types - "how would [char] react to," prompts, and NSFW prompts. I'm NOT willing to answer any asks relating to self harm, SA, SH, or explicit asks about pregnancy. I also won't answer asks offering unsolicited and unwanted criticism or advertising your own work.

★ Romancing Multiple Characters: You can romance multiple different ROs, but there will be points where you need to choose. I advise choosing 1 per play through if you're interested in more than 1.

★ Can we choose our characters ____? Here are a couple things you can choose about your character thus far into the story. These may grow as the story progresses.

However, there are a couple things coded into the game allowing it to naturally pick up on your characters actions and label your character as such. Here's a little info on that:

Based on actions/choices during races, your character can be labelled a wildcard, a patient and cautious prowler, or a vicious daredevil, which the world around will take note of and respond to your character with. You can actively manipulate which of the three you are during races, but you cannot manually choose.

Actions/choices made in the public eye impact how the world responds to your character. You can hate the press or love it, ignore your fans or cherish them. Again, you can actively manipulate which of them you are during press/fan interactions, but you cannot manually choose.

★ Can my character be [personality]? I try to be as inclusive with my personality options as possible, so I'm inclined to say yes. However, I can't promise that every option will pertain to an ultra specific personality. In that case, I always make sure to include neutral options that cater to a wide variety of characters.

★ Any Romances Besides the ROs? Yes, but these will not be nearly as fleshed out as the main four. These will take the role of flings and will be short, without any particularly happy endings.

★ Do we have to participate in a romance route to play the story? A large part of the story is romance, but it is not its centre, so no. You can be best friends with each of the ROs and that can be the extent of your relationship.

★ Character perspectives: I'm definitely willing to write character perspectives on certain situations that happen in the story, however that will likely stay reserved to a future patreon page.

★ Fanfiction: Sure, you can write fanfiction.

★ Fan art: Sure, you can create fan art, so long as art including my characters remains generally true to the physical appearance given, which can be found here for the ROs.

★ Can we ditch Roman? Absolutely.

Kirishima knew taking this mission with Fatgum would be one of their more challenging ones : A drug ring filtered out throughout a high end hotel with an escort and stripping service. Supposedly they'd traffic with the girls, under trays of food or other masked ways. The menus were keys to what each drug was, and each service was a different type of delivery. They were so close , so very close to understanding what was happening but...they also hit a bump. Most of the investigation was focused on the owner of the hotel but they soon found out that they were barking up the wrong tree. The owner of the hotel wasn't who controlled the flux in the drug ring but a patreon, a wealthy real estate manager for a mob. Sighing, Kirishima rubbed his face, glancing at Fatgum who was writing like a madman at the desk in their jointed room “Hey Taishiro..” Kirishima called as the blonde let out a hum,still jotting notes “We have that other lead right? Uh..” He started as he flipped through his own notes, running over a name “Peaches, the cage dancer?” “Yeah what about her?” Fatgum said as he looked to his red haired subordinate “Why don't we see if we can find her? She should be working tonight right? The other dancer said she only comes in on certain days, and she seems tied to Mr.N'' He siad as Fatgum joined him at his side , reading over his notes “Yeah! If we're lucky we’ll find some more about our lovely friend here”

And with that they headed downstairs and to the giant double door, the sound of thumping music seeping through the crack “Well Red, let's head in yeah?” Taishiro said as Kirishima followed behind. He knew undercover work was difficult, and it didn't help that both had to disguise their identities to the best they could : Fatgum and him both using colored hair spray to hide their hair colors. Taishiro opted to stay in his smaller form more often and wore clothes that were more fancy while under the name “Yuri”. Kirishima on the other hand was his makeshift “Bodyguard” , opting for all black looks and tended to hide his mouth with a black mask, going by the simple nickname “J”. The purpose was for Fatgum to look like another high end boss with security , and that's how it was. As the two entered they were greeted with half dressed to bare women with only covers asking them what they needed or wanted , some handing them drinks and allowing them to wander. The lights were bright and strobing , almost too much to the sober person, so the intoxicated had to be worse. Heading to the back they passed through a curtain into the higher end of things. Men with people at their hips, smoking cigars and watching as more dancers did their usuals, money being handed over , thrown and placed on their person. “Alright how about we split up, il take this seat, see if you can find the cage dancers” Fatgum said as he sat to an approaching girl, the women threw herself to his lap as Kirishima sighed watching him start up as he saw a red light behind another side curtain. Catching his attention Kirishima walked forward, into a darker room with a string of red lights illuminating a cage-like stage. Before he could get far a man stopped him

“Excuse me sir do you have a reservation with Peaches?” Bingo. He found her “Uh no sorry i don't , i didn't know i needed one for her '' He said shyly as the man looked up to him before sighing “Well, then sir i can't help you” Sighing Kirishima looked at the stage again when he saw one of the most beautiful sights he could see. A woman, covered in a red and black piece popped into the stage “Whats the issue Moby?” The women said as her eyes widened to the tall male in her usual empty room “Ah nothing miss Peaches, this guy i guess thought he'd get a show” The security said as the girl still looked to him and smiled waving him in “He does now, put him on my list yeah?” She said as the security stuttered , letting the towering man past “Ah miss, is it okay if my friend comes along as well? He went to a different stage but he would be meeting back up with me” He admitted as th e woman strolled to him , pressing a hand to the cage “He can come too, tell Moby to put him on the list sweetheart” She said before walking away, yelling to the security “Put his friend on the too!”

Soon Fatgum came into the room with him, sitting beside him as more paterons surrounded the stage “the other dont know them, it seems our girl is the one were with now” He whispered as they all looked up to the stage , the setting being set for the act who was coming out. If the hush whispers were anything he knew the girl they were waiting for would be something great.

All of a sudden Kiri could feel his heart in his throat, the woman he had spoken to came out , still dress the same as she waved to the whistling people below, goting to her pole with a jump and started spinning effortlessly, the sight was absolutely stunning ; he'd never seen such a beautiful display before. No one told him that stripping was a form of art, no matter how people tried to look down on it, this was art to him. He now knew why she was so sought after, the grace she had as she moved closer to him through the cage made his heart unironically thump and all of a sudden the throb in his chest moved to between his legs , an embarrassment he wish he wouldn't admit outright until a shove on the arm from his senior “Its alright, i think she likes you” Fatgum whispered as Kirishima looked up, seeing in fact that her eyes were glued to him.

Moving to the front she leaned against it, eyes locked on him as she beckoned him closer, the desperate others trying to reach for her as she smirked , reaching to Kirishima “Why dont you cmre big boy” She said as they whooped and hollered , all smacking him in the back as he gave fatgum a wide eyed look, the hidden blonde, giving him a thumbs up. “U-uhm I-” Before he could say much she tapped the cage , pointing to Kirishima as the security took him around to the opening “You're a lucky guy ; its rare she does a lap dance with fresh faces” The guy said, confusing the hidden redhead “How's that?” He ask “Well whoever spends the most on her usually just gets a leg tap or such, a lapdance is the highest thing she'll do with a crowd” He said before giving him a chair and opening her door “Have fun, she might spoil ya” And withthst he was face to face with the beauty. Walking up to Kirishima she gave him a smile, her smaller hand running over his chest before she took the chair from him , sitting it in the red light. “What should i call you cutie” She whispered before he felt the knot in his stomach tighten again “ Uh..how about..Jay..” He whispered back as she pushed him lightly into the chair “Well then Jay, ill give you a nice show hm?” she giggled, before moving into his lap. Kiri felt himself freeze , she smelt very good, and was too close for comfort. She was warm, and the way she looked at him made him feel like a highschooler all over again “C-can i touch you sweetheart?” He whispered as she settled , her eyes wide as she buried her face in his neck “A real gentlemen, I knew it was a good idea to trust you.

Go right ahead cutie, be gentle with me” she answered as she started to rock, rolling her hips with the thumping of her music. Slowly he put his own hand on her waist, following her constant moving as the group below yelled, telling him to do more or for her to strip even more. He felt her get close to his face before their noses touched, the heat in his chest blooming more as she pulled away. Feeling brave he gripped her hips, pulling her closer and with a gasp her arms moved back to his chest , the two in their own world before realizing there were eyes on them both still. Slowly she crawled down his lap, eyes on his as she ran her hand back on his thighs , her face on his lap as they screamed for more before the curtain dropped, covering them and the guys outside of it begged for more. Sitting back on her legs and letting kirishima catch his breath he held a hand to her , helping her up “T-Thank you for the show Miss Peaches , I feel honored“ Kirishima said as she blinked, before feeling her body heat up “O-Oh uhm why thank you for thanking me, i don't get much appreciation, and most would want your place. I….felt drawn to you so” She admitted before giving him a look “OH and you can call me [ ], but try not to around patreons, they'd be upset they don't know yet and i just told some newbie” [ ] teased as he laughed , agreeing “Yeah definitely. I hope to see you uh, more often” He said before he could stop himself, giving her the same shocked look her face had “I guess you're who've been asking for me.

Here, I'll give you my number and you tell me whenever you need something” She said, holding her hand out for his phone. Fumbling he took his phone out, taking her number in his phone as they walked to her dressing room. Shyly [ ] looked up at the tall boy who insisted on walking her back to her room. Standing ther awkwardly he gave her a shy look back “Uh i know this is random but when is your next show? I love how beautiful you look and i'd...wished to be able to..i'm not sure what id want to do being there” Starting to ramble he laughed and rubbed his head before [ ] grabbed his hands “Hey that's fine, i'll come around more often if you're around i feel safe with my new shield” She teased.

And thats how it was for a few weeks, them seeing her every day she danced and her even coming to see them on her off hours. Kirishima explained why they were really there and it made her heart happy to see change. She decided to help them, giving more information to them, helping them along with their case as it started to close. Before long Kirishima and [ ] had gotten closer, the two of them growing to love the others attention , so much so Fat gum called them out for it “Yknow, when this goes down, you should get [ ] to follow us , she's quite smart , and she could do wonderfully as a partner. She would benefit better from a safe environment” Fatgum said one day while they were finishing their report “Ya think? I do care for her, and I can't stand her coming over and crying about the abuse…...but i dunno what if she doesnt like me like that…”

Kirishima whispered as he felt a hand smack him on the shoulder “Ask her. Can't hurt to ask right? And the way you both give eachother puppy eyes even when she's on stage i'm pretty sure she likes you the same way you like her.” He teased as the red head beside him sighed, hearing a knock at their door. Opening it he was face to face with the girl in question, [ ]. Her eyes glowed as she came in, greeting the two males in front of her. “Hey guys! How's everything going?” She said as she sat on the edge of one of the beds in the room , dressed more casually which made them both have a sense of joy “Ah well we should be arresting him tomorrow once he gets here, I know you work tomorrow night so ill have Kiri be with you, he’ll make sure everything runs smoothly , we’ll all go back to the headquarters and regroup okay?” Fatgum finished as [ ] shook her head, agreeing with the plans as she sighed “I'm nervous but it needs to be done... I , well all of us can't take this anymore...constantly being in fear all the time yknow?” she sighed as she laid back, a comfortable silence falling between them as they all laid around the room “Uhm [ ] can I ask you something?”

Kirishima said as she hummed, cracking an eye open to look at him. Knowing what was to come Fatgum gave him a thumbs up before claiming he had a call to go investigate downstairs, leaving the two of them together. “[ ] I cant stand you in pain...I dunno what i can do for you but...please, let me help you out , come with me , with us. I want you to be happy y'know and ive enjoyed every second we’ve had together..maybe im being selfish, or maybe its silly but...I” Trailing off he looked up to [ ] giving him soft puppy like eyes. Reaching out she placed her hand on his , rubbing her thumb on the back of his hand as she took in a breath to start her own comment back “Kiri...Ejirou, I care about you, so so very much, I wouldn't want to be a burden to you, but I'd love to go with you. 0.1.5 rounds out our new vision for the narrative side of the game. Mechanically, all of the pieces are in place, and we'll be focusing on tactical combat going forward. Next up are setting changes and another round of playtests! Join the  Mirage Company Discord if you're curious about those, or what the day-to-day looks like for the devs.

We're outlining our plans to round out 2022 and start the next. 0.2 is coming, and so is the Miragecast. We can't tell you much about it yet, but as it sounds, we're planning a podcast for Mirage Company news, q&a, and community updates.

We're also planning the website and Substack blog. We've got a lot of food cooking in the kitchen, and we're excited to serve up some tasty games. We're diversifying as we ramp up into version beta.

A text from Mikaeïl drew a soft smile from you as you woke the next day, rolling over in the crinkly warmth of your covers and stretching your spine out with a grunt.

‘Morning beautiful,” his message began and you already found yourself grinning broadly. What a romantic… “I hope you don’t find this too much too soon, but I’d like to ask you out for a drink this weekend, tonight if you’re free. I know it’s short notice, but if you’re around, there’s a gorgeous wine bar in the old part of town. It’s run by this crazy old goblin, and I’d love to take you there.’

You actually squeaked and were very grateful that he had asked you via text and not phone call because you had enough butterflies to fly you straight back to high school again with the way you were feeling. With slightly shaking fingers, you messaged, ‘Just woke up. I’d love to come out tonight! And no, I have no life - don’t judge me.’

‘Wouldn’t dream of it’ came his immediate response. ‘Besides, most of my Saturday nights consist of a log fire and a glass or two of whisky, so… who’s got no life now…?’

You snorted and rolled onto your stomach. ‘Log fires? Even in summer?’

‘Reptilian, remember?’

‘Ah, yes. How could I forget those beautiful golden eyes of yours?’ you messaged and then immediately regretted it for how sappy and gross it sounded.

Luckily, he didn’t seem to mind. ‘I’m flattered. Would you like me to pick you up tonight? I’ll book us a table because it’s usually busy.’

‘You mean you don’t know the ‘crazy old goblin’ personally?’

‘Of course I do. He’ll give me the best table in the house, I know it. But still, formalities and all that…’

‘XD. I’ll meet you there? Where is it?’

A short pause was swiftly followed by a message with a link to the restaurant, called ‘La Cantina’ and which seemed to be very fancy.

‘I feel like I need a top hat and tails to go to this place,’ you texted after scrolling through its web page.

‘Nothing so formal,’ he reassured you. ‘Actually it’s very much a case of ‘wear what you like’.’ A second later he added, ‘Within reason, of course…’

‘Got it. I’ll wear my favourite neon leotard with exposed nipples for a touch of class…’

‘Perfect. I knew I liked you for a reason.’

You spent most of that morning giggling over your conversation with him, but you did manage to catch up on a couple of bits of work that had been shoved to one side during the week, and when you left the house that evening, you felt pretty sure you’d look alright. A pair of dark jeans and a smart-ish top which had always been one of your favourites seemed to do the trick, and it wouldn’t crumple on your bus journey into the centre of Old Trollbridge either. You couldn’t turn up looking like an old paper bag if you wanted to impress your, what, boyfriend? Were you officially dating now?

That thought sent a thrill through you, and you had just taken a deep breath to try and regain some of your limited stock of composure when you saw him up ahead.

He was walking down the cobbled street towards you, his hands in his pockets, his head slightly downcast, and your breath caught in your throat. The last of the sunlight had vanished to leave the milky blue haze of dusk, settling lazily about the buildings and chimneys of the old university town, and he looked as much a part of the place as the gargoyles and grotesques looming above and the worn streets below. Slender, strong, confident, and yet strangely soft, almost serpentine you supposed, Mikaeïl approached and the hard lines of his pale face gentled visibly as he looked up and saw you standing there, watching him.

His long red hair was half drawn back off his face on his left, twisted once and pinned, while the rest of it fell in shimmering red down his back. His eyes glowed in the dim light and your heart skipped a beat or two at the sight of them, slit pupils widened to leave a halo of gold. When Mikaeïl finally drew level with you, he slowed and you tried to take in a bit more of his outfit. As usual, he was wearing very little colour: a crisp and beautifully fitted white shirt, sleeves cuffed back to the elbow, tucked into black pressed trousers, and black Oxfords that gleamed.

Then his hands had taken yours in his strong, cold fingers and he pressed a kiss to your knuckles. “You look lovely,” he said earnestly in his warm baritone. “I’m so glad you were free.”

“No life, remember?” you grinned and he laughed softly.

“Let’s see about changing that, shall we? For both of us. Come on,” and he held your hand as the pair of you turned and headed back down the street in the direction he’d just come from.

“Did you just wander up here in the hopes of meeting me off the bus or something?” you asked, looking up at him.

He nodded slightly. “Mmm. That, and I was hideously early for our reservation.”

He caught the endearing smile you offered him and he chuckled again, his cheeks flushing attractively. His eyelashes, you noticed were stupendously long and thick, and the most delicate shade of rose gold you’d ever seen. While you walked, he asked you how the commissions you’d been working on had gone, and listened quietly and attentively as you waffled on about how irritating one particular client was being. “Not like you,” you grinned, squeezing his chilly fingers briefly. “I wish everyone had the same reaction to my work as you did…”

His breath hitched slightly as you said that, but he made no response other than to tighten his grip on your hand for a moment.

The restaurant was one of those that only the real locals know about; darkly lit by candles, with old barrels dotted here and there among the tables, and thrumming with a strange sense of timeless age. It was as if it had always been here, unchanging, immune to the rhythms of the world outside.

You had barely descended down the well-worn, stone staircase into the aptly named cellar restaurant when a goblin gave a clap of their long-fingered hands and scuttled over to you, grinning broadly and revealing a row of perfectly pointed teeth. Mikaeïl bent nearly double to hug him fondly, careful not to knock his horns on the goblin’s long ears, and they exchanged a chaste but familiar kiss on the cheek.

“Ahh, Mikki,” the goblin said in a voice like a creaking tree in a gale as they drew back. “It’s been far too long. And who’s this! A human!” He shook his head in mock disappointment, and then held out a knuckly hand to you, the grin firmly back on his darkly weathered face. “My pleasure, my pleasure. Come on in. Best seat in the house for you both tonight.”

“You do us great honour, Kiriavin,” he said seriously, ushering you ahead of him to follow the goblin to your table.

The goblin merely waved a hand and thrust a menu at you without looking back. You just about managed to grab it from him.

“Wine’s on me tonight, my friends,” Kiriavin added as you settled at your table and Mikaeïl’s eyes widened. “No, no, no; don’t you give me that look, you great overgrown lizard,” the goblin snapped, waggling his finger in Mikaeïl’s face and making him lurch back to avoid being tapped on the nose by a sharp goblin claw. “I haven’t seen you in months, and then you bring this gorgeous human in here out of the blue… Mikki, I was starting to wonder if I’d ever see you with someone else again. I’m glad,” he said, laying his dark-skinned hand on Mikaeïl’s bare forearm.

Mikaeïl’s throat worked as he swallowed thickly, and his eyes darkened for just a moment, but he nodded and said in a slightly choked voice, “Thank you.”

When the two of you were left alone, you cast Mikaeïl a questioning look.

He sighed expansively as you settled down at the table and then looked you straight in the eye. “You want to know, don’t you?” he asked.

“There are a lot of things I’d like to know - and a lot of them are about you…” you said cautiously, a horrible feeling souring your stomach. “What exactly is it that you think I want to know?”

As he trailed a finger across the scrubbed wooden surface of the table, his eyes lost on the patterns only he could see in the movement, he said, “Well, it’s been about thirty-five years since I was last with someone. We’d been together…” he broke off and swallowed again. “… for nearly a century.”

“Holy shit,” you breathed, suddenly feeling utterly irrelevant.

His nostrils flared as he drew in another, steadying breath, still staring at the table. “It’s not really the kind of conversation for a first date. It’s a sad story. We… We were together a long time, but he… he got very sick.” A second later he did look up at you and added, “He was an artist too. Different style from you, but… you have something of his talent.”

“Oh,” was all you could find to say as a barrage of self-doubt crashed into your mind.

Life Update: Confession time

Ignore this if you wish, I usually try to avoid personal life on the sites I'm on as I consider them my professional life. I always try to balance my art with a positive interaction with the people that comment/share/messages me. Because I feel like you are all part of a whole that is as important as my art. Art has been a large part of my life, but it would be nothing without your supports. And something I genuinely despise is to feel like my accounts are stripped from any form of identity and personality. There's a person behind this art, not just a screen after all... Bringing joy doing something that I love is... wonderful. I cannot express how much it makes me happy to be able to share all of this with your guys.... Truth is, lately things haven't been doing well for me. Not on the financial side, but... overall. I'm someone who love to work and give my best in every aspect of my life, I'm socially awkward and reserved and made my peace with that. It's not that I do not enjoy people's company but it is extremely emotionally taxing for me in the long term, it requires me to take a break after a while because I end up pretty exhausted (this is important information for later). It's been hard to actually accustomed myself to public places as I do not like to stay out for too long even since I was a child. Having a long 'casual' conversation "how's the weather?" type is far from something I can actually deal with. Back in may, I acquired a new car, and since my money cushion was running thin I had in mind to send applications to the nearby town to get a small job. I didn't expected things to escalate so quickly, first application, first interview, job acquired the same day! I was shocked and quite happy that they considered to hire me so fast, I worked there 30 hours minimum a week which sound pretty low from average but considering I had other obligation (Patreon and conventions) it was quite a lot to handle. Everything went smoothly, like usual I learned the rope pretty fast and earned my place at work, I even got some week off to get to the states to participate to cons! As much as I could handle it... these past few months has been draining for me, especially mentally, it's like I turn a switch off to just go through my days without really thinking which makes me extremely jolty whenever someone try to talk with me. I don't have issues with my coworkers, neither does my current schedule... but everything feel so soulless and dull... it's genuinely depressing... there's time I go through my day with the feeling that I'm close to cry at any second, especially when I find myself working on my own. I was proud I managed to adjust myself, that I could keep a job for once, that I am part of a team, I cannot say there's no positive through the experience I acquired... but. I am not happy... I feel like I don't fit... and I don't understand how some people can just go through their dull day without feeling broken inside. Part of me feel guilty.... maybe I'm picky... or lazy ? But overall, as I think about it, I feel like it isn't my place... So... if you see a lot of art coming from me lately.... it is mostly a coping mechanism... but even then.... I feel like there's not much passion in them anymore... and it scares me... If you had read through this wall of text... thank you.

I think it was last week/weekend I re-blogged a personal post of mine about setting one up, but I have to admit I’m a little lost @ - @;

I’m looking for any tips and such on how to best set it up... There’s an explanation of what I’m doing and why is below the cut (.   .  ); and I’m more than happy to explore any other suggestions on sites that may work better for what I’d like to do...

So, what I would like to do...Is create a Patreon to fund a book I’ve been trying to work on for the last couple of years. I’d like to treat it like a ‘web comic’ and try to release a chapter with some art work a month.

Obviously you can pay like idk $3 bucks a month for the basic chapter and a one time thank you note then like, $8 a month for the chapter + Art Work specific to that chapter... idk maybe make a 10$ one where you get chapter + art + creator content (sketches/notes/etc) and then make one that’s about 15$ for chapter + art + an exclusive art print + idk buttons? something physical..? or if you want the actual book you can make a one time payment of 30$ to reserve a hard/soft cover release of the book or you can get an Art book? (I’ll need to look into what it would cost to have hard copies made and how much soft cover vs hard cover would be so I have no idea how much that would actually be @ - @. It would also have to cover like, shipping which is idk, maybe four bucks..?) the Hard Copies would probably have to wait until I hit a certain amount of money per month, like a goal of at least 200-300$ ish? (ok, I did a quick google and lightning press has anywhere from $3 bucks to $10 bucks for paper and hard cover books...so I could potentially charge less for a hard copy...?)

Like, honestly I need direction on whats reasonable for pricing. Would I be charging to much or under charging? What are some things that I could look into to add to the packages to make them more interesting and worth while to people while not busting myself in the process..

Between work and off line life, I’ve literally only gotten as far as the first chapter... The rest of the book is kinda all over the place....in notes on scraps of paper that I jotted on at work, notes scattered in about three different notebooks, I have idk how many word docs on my phone/laptop that have information on them... doodles...omg I have STICKY NOTES FOR DAYS!!!

The First Thing I’d Like to Do: Is launch my Patreon before May so I can get a head of the changes there making to the accounts. ^ While I do this I can start to sift through my garbage and start organizing things... combining documents, pulling things off my phone, transcribing notes from paper to word...getting a preface written and a cover image of sorts figured out...(Honestly my ‘cover’ right now is a VERY BAD doodle of the two main characters on a scrap of paper smaller than my hand and my other photo is of Gizmo making a derp face (@_   @ ); ....)

I know it will take some time to get this on a go status as far as releasing content and such... not only that but I have like a hundred bucks to pay off on my phone yet before its mine and I can switch to pay as you go and I have a loan that I need to pay off. 

So, in light of all of that...The next two months (April and May) I’ll be using most of my paychecks to pay these two things off. April is the last month we will need to pay rent and electricity for our old place (yes...we’ve been paying rent for two apartments since we moved out in November...its a long story...) then I can focus on saving some money in order for me to quit my job or drop to something part time closer to home...

I’m going to be 110% honest with everyone who reads this post: I’m drowning... mentally I am keeping things together with a used piece of wet tape, a broken rubber band and some Elmers glue... The last time my dad was over he literally chewed me out over how many different otc sleeping pills I had... I haven’t had an anxiety attack bad enough to send me to the ER since ninth grade and last year in March I had one that was brought on by work that corporate refuses to pay for and I haven't been the same since... I quit all of my prescribed medications cold turkey my sophomore year of high school because I was fed up and done with how they made me feel, with how many I had to take and the fact that the doctor just couldn’t F-ing Pick One to keep me on... I do not want to go back on pills...I will apply for disability before I put another pill in my mouth... (I Do Not want to go on Disability...there are people out there who need it so much more than me...).

Therefore, if I’m going to quite my full time job, I need something part time or a way to make this idea of mine into a reality because..I don’t want to be a bum...

So, Please and a Thousand Times Thank You for any and all help or resources you can point me to so I can start my journey on the road to being ok again~

What is little known is that you can pickpocket the idol of rebirth before doing the quest. There are 2 ways to remove your source collars in Act l. - 1st way can be done really early but only works for your main character by winning the undergound arena in Fort Joy. The hatch is located in Griff's Kitchen. After winning the battle , you can talk to Nebora , the female merchant sits next to Fort Joy main entrance. She will remove the collar for you. - 2nd way works for everyone in the party but you have to first escape Fort Joy , find the Seeker Hideout then help them looking for thier lost leader , Gareth. Once Gareth is brought back , you can talk to Leya , she sits just next to the statue of goddess Amadia. She'll remove your party source collars.

What’s new?

First off, I’ve added pricing for fursonas and animals in general! I’ve always been open to drawing peoples fursonas, I just hadn’t made a pricing page specifically for it yet. I don’t have as much experience drawing animals, so I’ve made these prices lower than the others because I’d really like to practice with them! HERE YOU GO FAM!

Also, I’ve added a page for additional characters! The percentages are based off of what your commission price will be. Example: A cel shaded, full body commission price would be $40. An additional character would be 50% off of that price, making the additional character $20.

I’ve also added more drawing examples!

Until the payment is made in full and the artist has completed their work, all proofs sent to the recipient will be watermarked and low-resolution. Once the work is completed and the final payment has been received, the artist will remove the watermark and send a high-resolution file to the customer.

A non-refundable deposit of 30% of the total cost is required before beginning the commission. After the initial sketch is complete, no refunds will be given. The artist may choose to refund the deposit under special circumstances.

If the recipient’s commission price is $10 or lower, then the payment must be made in full before the artist begins work on their commission. Should the recipient cancel, then 50% of the payment may be refunded at the artist’s discretion.

The recipient may not resell the commission, as the copyright still belongs to the artist. The recipient can use the commission as they wish, though not for resale.

Dark Side of Game Jobs. The computer game industry’s nasty crunch hiring and firing practices are making people advocate for unionization. 

Have you heard of the Dark Side of the Game Industry? The topic is going viral over recent months. 

I research entertainment and game jobs and business practices and B2B marketing. I have another solution than unionizing the game industry. But first a bit of untold history about gig economies and the game industry. A few entertainment business facts and the results of too much innovation too fast.

The entertainment industry works project to project with crunches and employees receive disclosure. All arts and entertainment industries at one point or another have experienced unionization. Unions are powerful lobby groups. Governments and companies will listen to unions when they will listen to no-one else. Unions lobbied for the wage and work safety minimums that non-union workers take for granted today.

USA entertainment unions have been around for more than a century. The oldest union in Hollywood is the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. The IATSE founded July 17, 1893, in New York City during La Belle Époque and Vaudeville on Broadway.

Established entertainment unions can unionize video game workers department by department. There already exists unions to do that, a few examples below.

Actors' trade unions‎ - Mocap actors and performers and voice over artists.

Directors Guild of America‎ - Sequence design, look, timing etc.

IATSE‎ - Stop motion builders, live set carpenters, live lighting and more.

Musicians' trade unions‎ - Licensed original music and foley or live sound effects.

Scriptwriters' trade unions‎ - Voice scripts and dialog to build texture and worlds in a game story.

American Advertising Federation - Getting your game out to the big mainstream markets.

There is also a dark side effect of sudden and total unionization. Several big companies will fold and more people will lose their jobs. But companies hiring and firing staff on fake promises shouldn’t be in business. In a court of law it is a scam that puts people on the street. How many game workers are sleeping in their cars and vans in the San Francisco Bay Area tonight?

The currently trending gig economy is also a disaster. Gig employers and employees have no set pay standards or recruiting nor oversight. People participating in gig economy websites don’t have any price guides to work from.

Many are recently out of college and don’t know what to charge or what to pay. They drop their prices to get gigs, and that drops the prices and money to live on for the other gig workers. To make matters worse people living in 3rd world countries. They can afford to charge way less than minimum-minimum wages, so they get most of the gigs.

Craig Newmark copied his Gig section from GigsList #1 in the 2000s. Craig lives in Haight Ashbury, yes really... We’ve chatted a few times at neighborhood BBQ’s and backstage at festivals and parties. Craig told me he is a Grateful Dead fan and wanted to be a rock muso. But then his ‘gigs’ category on Craigslist gave the gig economy idea to others who turned it into apps for that. Then some more “others” turned it into a piece of software you can buy online for $87 USA. Now anybody can start their own gig economy on the web with disastrous results for users.

Craigslist is struggling to the point where it is now charging to post classified ads. CraigList was one of the first disrupters and innovators. Craig reinvented the classifieds from simple paper to easy to use web. Then new competition with smarter software hit the market. Craig Newmark refused to innovate, apart from accepting crypto-currency. Craig hand coded the original Craigslist. Coders tend to be very attached to their personal creations. Craig promised to never charge for classified ads, yet he too had to bow to the rising competition. The moral of this bit of trivia being we all have to budge a little with the times sometime.

GigsList instead focused its research on arts history and arts business innovation. The entertainment industry is where the term ‘gig’ to denote a job was first used. Before that a ‘gig’ was a type of horse drawn vehicle with two wheels and one horse. I rode in a gig a few times in Australia, even got to handle the reins. In Australia a gig is called a 'sulky’ and there is a high tech sports version used for racing today. Early high tech racing gigs were made from bicycle parts.

Getting back on topic… the gig economy is sending millions of workers to their financial edge in the USA. The USA Federal Reserve’s report on the country’s economic wellbeing is eye opening. In 2018, gig economy workers struggled to make a living. Far more than the average mundane day job worker. They can't compete with third world country prices. Countries where the cost of living is less than $400 a month. People struggling to survive in the USA can’t compete with or live on third world wages. USA Federal Reserve reports over half of full-time gig workers find it difficult to raise $400 for an emergency. That’s in contrast to 38% of people low income steady day jobs.

The USA Federal Reserve’ findings signal gig economies are destabilizing society. More than Silicon Valley VCs will admit. Unions or some form of standards and oversight of game workers and gig workers need help. You can also see a pattern forming of too much innovation too fast. Entanglement effects researched and design thought out. Or else it will always be disaster after disaster.

There is another bunch of my notes about out of USA wages and game workers. Some of the worst offender game companies have non-USA educated founders or recruiters. In their defense they don’t know any better. Paying lowest and hiring and firing without disclosure are normal in some countries. Nobody with legal or advocacy power is guiding the game industry on what USA standards are. Nor checking in to guide them as their game workforce expands and how to keep up those standards. The topic itself is a whole library of laws. Wages and work conditions are also different state to state and county to county in the USA.

Ancient Rome let the people of each country it conquered rule themselves. Else you are heading for certain doom. The reason the Roman Empire still exists is that it rebranded itself as the Catholic Church. It modernized, but with guidance still allowed countries govern themselves. Workers complaining about game cos are only a fraction of a fraction of the game workforce. When a new game is in pre-production a game company hires 150 to 300 new workers at a time. Yesterday on GigsList patreon page theres a call for 300 game workers for a new game.

Game companies have to hire some USA workers to keep Uncle Sam the tax man happy. Many game companies also hire remote workers from countries for the lower wages and low or no labor laws.

“The U.S. Labor Department, the IRS, the SBA, and U.S. and immigration lawyers say it is legal for a U.S. company (or any U.S. employer) to hire foreigners living outside of the U.S. as remote or telecommute workers.” Steven Rich MBA, Linkedin post. To confuse matters are idiot bloggers calling themselves "experts" but are keyword adverts. An example is Kenneth Liu on Gamasutra. He says the “Dark Side of the Video Game Industry” is an unsolvable situation in brief. Then a list of unrelated game company news packed with keywords and affiliate links. It is clueless and no experience of the industry to understand that there are options. Nor self realization that his readers are not clueless.

Don't do the keyword advert thing unless you've got something on topic and useful to mix it with. The entertainment B2B market you are trying to reach can see right through it. And if you write about doom and gloom provide an intelligent solution.

Media, film music, theatre, arts and games share the broad niche category “Entertainment.” Backstage and behind the scenes“The Industry.” They also share the same problems that come from remote gig economy sites. But hidden inside older Industry standard business practices is the solution. The solution requires individual local and specialized standards, escrow and legal contracts. It is doable, and we have the software and can avoid VC and other restrictions. Plus with your participation, speed up the process and create jobs.

GigsList.info calls for experienced entertainment management/booking/recruiting pros in each state. Or county/province with a large Entertainment economy to pitch in. Participants don’t need to raise millions of $. We already researched it. About the amount of a deposit on a house or condo in your location, which is repaid in booking transactions.

SENSATIONAL COMICS, Synopsis:

I am currently writing, illustrating and developing what i hope will become a long running comic (and possibly graphic novel series) called Sensational Comics.

Though it may become an Anthology later on, Sensational as it is now is a story about a mysterious and intense young girl with bizarre superhuman powers.

If i were to describe its content and genre, i would use the following words:

Superpower, Slice-of-life, Supernatural, Thriller, Horror & Action.

FIRST AND FOREMOST:

Sensational is not a story for children.

Being a comic that focuses on criminal elements and characters, it is a comic that occasionally features violence, death, profanity, strong language, blood and gore, disturbing or scary imagery, alcohol, drugs etc.

Now that that's out of the way... Our story begins in Minas Gerais, Brasil...

Hundreds tortured, mutilated and murdered  in unspeakable crimes by one depraved and deviant woman. A woman with dissociative personality disorder, and an almost unparalleled intelligence that allowed her to avoid capture by the authorities for years and years on end, while working under the guise of an innocent schoolteacher. Like a sadistic game of hide and seek that seemed to have no end.

Jaqueline Rabenz. A woman so evil that even she considers herself equal to, or superior to the devil himself.

Her crimes were so varied that investigators believed her to be multiple people conspiring together to satisfy their perverse desires; And so she came to be known as the "Persona Killer."

Her crimes unbelievable, her skills terrifyingly precise, her immortal hunger and thirst fueling her, moving her hands to bring cold annihilation upon the innocent...

But this story isn't about her. This is a story about Jolyne Rabenz. Jaqueline's daughter.

The Persona killer is locked in an Asylum for the criminally insane. Being spared the death penalty on a technicality. The families of the victims, left unsatisfied, hateful and vengeful, take out their anger upon Jolyne and her family,who move hundreds of miles away from their home, to a small and quiet bed-town called Cecilia Garden.

Things were extremely difficult for Jolyne. Trembling at night due to the trauma she had suffered by the machinations of her mother.

She developed a habit of analyzing and reading people to understand them and theri true intentions due to her great paranoia. Her studiousness and love for reading, as well as her withdrawn and introverted personality cause people to believe that she is a snobbish and stuck-up foreigner. She is abused and tortured by bullies at her new school that are related to her mother's victims.

Nothing in Jolyne's life seemed to be getting better, she had become the target of the town, a person filled with resentment towards all people and even stronger hatred towards herself.

But one day, fate changed it's plan.

In a terrible accident, Jolyne's body is burned and scarred, predominantly around her eyes, making them look dead and villainous. She is hospitalized for months, and by unknown means afterwards, she gains bizarre supernatural powers, which she uses to change her whole life...

Jolyne has gone off of the deep end, and begins to take after her deviant mother.

Jolyne becomes a vandal, a graffiti artist, a brutal street fighter and a thief who uses her intelligence, savvy and dominant attitude to achieve all of her goals and obtain everything that she wants, regardless of whomever stands in her way.

Jolyne is a calm and nonchalant girl, who keeps to herself and lets her actions speak far louder than her words when she needs to; but she is extremely violent, vindictive, ruthless and unforgiving when dealing with her enemies and rivals, especially those unreasonable and stupid enough to challenge and instigate Jolyne, even after she has given them fair warning.

But towards those she considers deserving of her respect and kindness, Jolyne is extremely compassionate and gentle. An advocate for life and happiness, harboring a hatred for those who would shamelessly hurt the innocent, crushing them underfoot.

At her very core, Jolyne is a kind spirit, and a gentle soul with a golden heart despite her rough exterior.

Come read Sensational and witness how this young criminal changes and evolves to deal with the strange world of monsters, ghosts, black magic, superhuman powers and mutant creatures; as well as how she changes the lives of more unfortunate heroes and villains like her, and how they change her own life.

SENSATIONAL COMICS, Art:

Sensational is a very rough and detailed black and white comic, reserving colors only for the outlines of the speech and thought bubbles of the main characters, as well as the covers and special artwork. This is a sacrifice made for the sake of being able to finish more pages at a faster rate.

The art of sensational is characterized by its rough and harsh lines, use of lots of hatching and cross-hatching, and amount of detail. The art style itself is influenced/inspired by the work of artists such as Hirohiko Araki, Lee Bermejo, Mark Bagely, etc.

CanvasWatches: Dagashi Kashi

How did this get a dub?

Don’t get me wrong, I am thankful it got a dub, of course, since I enjoyed Degashi Kashi, but… how did an anime about Japanese Penny Candies/Snacks earn itself a dub? It’s so niche, so obscure, and so unlikely that American audiences would experience any of these foods for themselves,[1] that I wouldn’t even dream of it receiving a a Sub-only Release, let alone a dub. Heck, my even knowing about it was a combination of vaguely recalling some random bit from LoadingReadyRun discussing its upcoming release, and accidentally finding it through Funimation.

And it’s second season is also getting a Simuldub, which makes this series even more inexplicable, as it doesn’t strike me as a show that would inspire a revival.

Why does Dagashi Kashi have a dub? How does any of this happen?

I love anime.

Degashi Kashi is a slice of life comedy about a young boy who kind of wants to be a Mangaka, but whose dad wants him take over the family business: a Japanese Candy Store.[2] The young boy would rather not. Then a quirky, Degashi-obsessed girl arrives looking to recruit the father for her family’s snack company, but the father will not take the job unless his son will take over the family store.

Hilarity ensues. Also lot of trivia and history lessons about the Dagashi and its surrounding culture.

It’s a charmingly odd show that makes the most out of having only five cast members. There’s Kokonotsu (the noted son) his father Yo, Hotaru (the girl seeking to get Kokonotsu to take over the store) Saya (Cafe operator crushing on Kokonotsu) and Tou (Saya’s brother who looks like Dave Strider).

There’s pretty much no major plot to speak of, with only enough premise to carry the episodes between various Dagashi lessons.

Also some pretty tame fan service. And odd character designs.

The eyes are weird. Kokonotsu’s are mostly fine, as far as generic protagonist designs go, and Yo and Tou don’t have their eyes visible often enough for comment, but the girls have pretty out-there eyes.

Hotaru’s eyes are concentric circles, making her look a little crazed and possibly unearthly. Her design over all is pretty eccentric, as she’s dressed in a simplified gothic lolita style and is the only one without natural hair and eye color, but that I’m broadly used to, because… anime. She sticks out like a sore thumb, but that fits her role so I’m okay with her design.

Also, her dub voice is… unconventional. There’s a usual timbre and speaking pattern that I’ve grown to expect from female characters. Usually sweet and light, but able to range into comedic anger. A little wiggle room for personalization, but mostly samey.[3] Hotaru can have that quality, yes, but when she really gets going, it’s usually a little lower pitched, and there’s this vocal quirk that’s… very difficult to put into words, where she’s not actually putting on a mocking tone, but is next door to it in pattern.

Please try and find examples of this dub voice. I was surprised at first, but I quickly grew to like Tabitha Ray’s performance for sounding very distinct.[4]

Returning to eye criticisms, Saya looks constantly crazed.

Her irises remain constantly tiny. The thing about giant anime eyes is it allows space for fine tuning emotions. Normally, the pupils/irises take up about 40-60% of the total space, allowing space to make them grow to show interest or more emotion, or (as is more to the point) shrink to show shock or extreme anger or just a loss in mental stability.

There’s an expressive language one learns as they watch anime, and Saya is locked in the tiny iris end, so she looks like she’s supposed to be crazy, possibly planning on burning you alive with a scalding pot of coffee at any moment.  But that isn’t her personality at all. Sure, her introductory scene was pretty textbook Tsundere, but she quickly eased into the Childhood Friend archetype, and either way, her shrunken eyes are unjustified. I got mostly used to the eyes, but it’s still poor design, since (ideally) character design should tell you something about the character, or at least be deliberately misleading.

Which leaves one last topic to discuss: Fanservice!

The portrayal of sexual elements is important for creators to consider. Good Art should hold a mirror to the human experience, and how an artist approaches the subject can say a lot.

Still, cultural norms and the ebb and flow of societal expectations, as well as the desire to draw in the target audience, makes the execution of fanservice fascinating to me. Where are the lines, on both a community level and personal level? Does the medium itself have an influence? Because a single misstep in fanservice can bring forth harsh criticism.

And, let me remind you that Avatar: the Last Airbender, one of the best animated series to broadcast on an American children’s television station, dedicated an episode to showing cute girls (and Zuko) at the beach in bathing suits. The oldest of whom was 16.[5]

So, Dagashi Kashi, to its credit, doesn’t feel fanservice-driven. Sure, some situations might be a little contrived (mostly surrounding Hotaru), but like the comedy of Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun, the show at least shows the steps that bring forth fanservice. And, to be honest, it’s pretty tame after the first episode. Mostly rain or sweat making Hotaru’s white shirt a little sheer to show off a little frill of her bra. Then the camera takes the perspective of Kokonotsu, who takes a very quick glimpse before averting his gaze.

Now, before I go further with my analysis, let me be clear: if the show cut all the fanservice scenes and took the maybe five total minutes they took (in twelve episodes) and expanded the Dagashi lessons, there would be no real loss. It’s superfluous material. But the fanservice shots also aren’t distracting nor derail the plot. They’re also mostly tasteful, and work is put in so the fanservice does work in context.

The element to execution that I think is most important is that it’s viewed through the the lense of youths, particularly Kokonotsu. No one’s ages are explicitly stated (not that I noticed, anyways), but there’s enough mention of homework that points to at least Kokonotsu, Saya, and Tou being school aged, most probably High Schoolers.[6] Hence, some awkwardness on the subject of romance and sex. So, yes, there will be some curious glances when the opportunity is presented.

Second, beside one scene concerning Saya, no one’s particularly victimized. The concept of fair consent is… curious when applied to fictional characters and the audience. It’s a debate that’s plagued superheroes for literal generations, and I’m not so foolish as to take a firm stance at this point.

So, setting aside arguments that fictional characters are inherently in a relationship of power imbalance with their writers,[7] in what cunning ways do you write a character (male or female) as being okay with a level of objectification?

You could have a character say they lack a nudity taboo, but that breaks the ‘Show, don’t Tell’ rule, and doesn’t clear accidental slips.

Dagashi Kashi manages to establish Hotaru’s lack of care in a such a blaze of insane glory that you don’t actually realize what the writers pulled until you’re writing a review spending an awkward amount of time discussing the show’s fanservice.

In the first episode, Saya meets Hotaru when the former sees the latter laying in the rice paddy she crashed into, coating her in mud. Being neighborly, Saya lets Hotaru use her shower. After which, Hotaru shows a casual disregard at being fully naked in front of both Saya and Tou. This is the most explicit scene in the series (in a PG-13 way) and is such obvious pandering, that you don’t even notice the show has taught you that Hotaru carries no reservations, so when the show very briefly shows off her body through the rest of the show, the audience knows Hotaru isn’t a victim.[8]

It’s a blatant, pandering scene that still serves a mechanical purpose. So that’s worth studying.

The only time either girl is victimized, it’s a transgression by Tou against Saya, when he uses a sticky hand to flip up her skirt. Credit to the direction, the camera stays firmly in front of her, where her skirt remained in place, and the audience sees nothing. Tou is also violently punished.[9] So the show went out of its way to show there’s a line: “accidental” fanservice from the indifferent Hotaru is kosher, intentional malice towards the unwilling Saya will not be justified by the camera.

I mean, obviously I’m not telling my fellow writers to showcase what they don’t think is okay to show, but I will say this: establish what you’re comfortable portraying and what you’re not, and try your best to inform the audience what the extreme is so they can decide if they’re on board.

Say whatever cynical thought you carry, I appreciate that many animes tend to front load the most egregious fanservice in the first episode, so after one episode you know what to expect.

Dagashi Kashi is a fun show, very educational about niche Japanese culture, and rife with things to overthink. Or not. The Japanese Snack trivia is a delight if you just want to watch at a surface level.
