Exploring the Growth of the Global Smoothies Industry: Trends and Market Insights
The smoothies industry size has been experiencing significant growth, fueled by a growing awareness of health and wellness among consumers worldwide. The Smoothies Market is projected to reach a value of USD 5.10 billion in 2024 and is anticipated to grow to USD 7.30 billion by 2029. This represents a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.51% over the forecast period from 2024 to 2029.
Key Drivers of the Smoothies Market
Rising Health Consciousness: One of the major factors driving the smoothies market is the growing focus on healthy living. As more people adopt healthy eating habits, smoothies—packed with fruits, vegetables, proteins, and superfoods—are seen as a nutritious and convenient option for those on the go.
Popularity of Functional Foods: Consumers are increasingly looking for foods and drinks that not only satisfy their hunger but also offer specific health benefits. Smoothies have emerged as a functional food product, with variations focused on boosting energy, improving digestion, enhancing immunity, and promoting weight loss.
Demand for Plant-Based Products: The rise of plant-based diets has significantly impacted the smoothies market. As more consumers seek out dairy-free and vegan options, smoothies made with plant-based milks like almond, soy, and oat have gained popularity. Additionally, plant-based proteins and other ingredients are increasingly being incorporated into smoothie recipes.
Convenience and On-the-Go Consumption: Modern consumers, especially in urban areas, seek convenience without compromising on nutrition. Ready-to-drink smoothies and smoothie kits that require minimal preparation have found a strong customer base, making it easy for consumers to incorporate them into their daily routines.
Innovation in Flavors and Ingredients: The smoothies market is continuously evolving, with brands experimenting with new ingredients such as superfoods, herbs, and exotic fruits to attract health-conscious customers. The fusion of traditional and contemporary flavors offers consumers a wider variety of choices, contributing to market growth.
E-Commerce and Delivery Platforms: With the expansion of online grocery shopping and delivery platforms, consumers now have easier access to smoothies and smoothie ingredients. This has further bolstered the market as brands leverage e-commerce channels to reach a wider audience.
Sustainability and Clean Label Movement: Many consumers are now more conscious of the environmental and ethical impact of their food choices. This has led to an increased demand for sustainably sourced and organic ingredients in smoothies. In response, companies are focusing on clean-label products that provide transparency about the ingredients used.
Regional Insights
North America, particularly the United States, has been a dominant region in the smoothies market, driven by the popularity of health and fitness trends. However, the Asia-Pacific region is emerging as a key market, with rising health awareness, urbanization, and increasing disposable incomes in countries like China, India, and Japan.
Future Outlook
The smoothies industry is poised for continued growth, driven by the increasing demand for health-conscious, convenient food options. Companies are likely to invest in product innovations and expand their offerings to cater to different consumer preferences, including the demand for functional smoothies and plant-based alternatives.
Conclusion
The global smoothies market is set to experience strong growth in the coming years as health and wellness trends continue to shape consumer behavior. With increasing demand for convenient, nutritious, and plant-based products, the industry is well-positioned to capitalize on these trends and expand further.

Gun ownership went up. Killings went down. Brazil experts point to other reasons why.
Tumblr media
Take away the açaí smoothies and the skewers of barbecued Brazilian meat and the four-day Texas ExpoTiro herecould be a gun show anywhere in the United States.
Firearms dealers from all over the world have rented booths to market Glock pistols and AR-15s, and gun rights advocates are offering lectures on how to confront violent urban crime.
“This is a triumph of liberty!” said retired military police chief Marcelo Venera, the executive director of the two-year-old expo, the largest gun show in the country and the first open to civilians. “We are here to show that we are good people and there is nothing wrong with loving guns!”
The gun owners of Brazil are proclaiming victory these days. Private gun ownership, once tightly restricted in Latin America’s largest country, has grown at least sixfold in the four years since President Jair Bolsonaro began relaxing the rules.
What’s more, gun enthusiasts say, it’s working: The homicide rate in Brazil — one of the world’s most violent countries — has fallen more than 27 percent since 2017.
Not so fast, criminologists say. They’ve spent the past four years trying to understand the unexpected decline — and say it has little to do with Bolsonaro or his decrees.
Research consistently shows that when private gun ownership goes up, killings follow. Analysts say it’s too early to draw conclusions from what they’re calling a global test case for what happens when strict gun rules are suddenly lifted. But many say the drop here has more to do with organized-crime trends, investment in policing and demographics.

Following Tuesday's negotiation session where Prime Minister Petteri Orpo's (NCP) government finalised next year's draft budget proposal, reactions to the budget dominated Finnish papers today.
According to a report by Ilta-Sanomat, the Trade Union of Education in Finland (OAJ) is "appalled" by the government's plan to make further cuts to vocational education. In spring, the government announced plans to cut vocational education funding by 100 million euros, and despite heavy protests, in the latest budget negotiations, it increased the cut by another 20 million euros.
"It is unacceptable that vocational education is being cut once again. The government's policy is at odds with the needs of the labour market and the goal of raising skill levels. There is a great need for skilled workers in areas such as technology and healthcare," said OAJ President Katarina Murto.
According to OAJ, the total cuts would be equivalent to reducing about 1,600 teachers.
Finnish Education Employers (FEE) association (Sivista in Finnish) also condemned the additional cuts.
"It is impossible for educational institutions to plan for the future when funding is constantly uncertain. Education was supposed to be exempt from savings, but the government has broken this promise regarding vocational education for the second time," said Director of Policy Heikki Kuutti Uusitalo in a statement.
Preserving Finnish language
The most widely-read story on Helsingin Sanomat story featured Finnish youngsters who are challenging the dominance of English words in the Finnish language.
Lauri Lassila noticed what he considers a troubling trend — his friends increasingly struggle with finding the right Finnish terms and often resort to English or ask for translations. He pointed out anglicisms or English words or phrases directly adopted into Finnish: 'running joke' becoming juokseva vitsi or using steppi (step) instead of the Finnish equivalent, askel.
Together with friends Touko Kinnunen and Saaga Suonvieri, Lassila started a group called "Kivenkantajat" (Stone Bearers), dedicated to finding Finnish equivalents for English loanwords.
Kinnunen attributes this trend to a lack of pride in the Finnish language, seeing the dominance of English as a sign of surrender to American culture.
Although language naturally evolves and loanwords have always been part of this process, the group worries about the extent of English influence and how it may undermine the Finnish language.
They pointed out that Finnish youngsters replace words like Purilaisten, kanansiipien and lounaan with English versions like 'burger', 'wings' and 'lunch'. Instead of developing new Finnish words, there's a tendency to directly adopt English terms such as canceloinnista for 'cancellation', smoothiet for 'smoothies'.
People may be hesitant to use new translations at first, Lassila admits, but told HS he has successfully introduced the term kyrnyty to replace "cringe", which he claimed has gained traction in his circle.
The group compared themselves to conservationists who are determined to preserve the Finnish language.
Finnish cities with clean air
Oulu, Tampere, and Helsinki ranked high in an evaluation of air quality conducted by the European Environment Agency (EEA), which assessed 372 European cities.
According to a report by Swedish language daily Hufvudstadsbladet, Oulu and Tampere are in fifth and sixth place, respectively, while Helsinki ranked twelfth.
Leading the list are Swedish cities, with Uppsala in first place and Umeå in second. Eight of the top 10 cities are in northern Europe, with Faro and Funchal in Portugal being the only exceptions.
According to the EEA, overall air quality in Europe has improved over the past 30 years. However, some cities still have air quality that can be harmful.
The city with the worst air quality in Europe is Slavonski Brod in Croatia, the country’s seventh-largest city, according to the ranking.

LUXURY AND STATUS SYMBOLS THINK PIECE
Tumblr media
lately I've been thinking about how people in fashion have been exhausted with the trend of logomania, and how luxury fashion consumers are partaking less and less in logo culture. people are ditching red bottoms for manolos and items like louis vuitton neverfull monogram hand bags and obnoxiously large gucci belts are being seen as tacky and tasteless in the eyes of fashion critics. even though for the general public theyre still seen as luxury status symbols.
Stuff like this interests me, how fashion criticism is almost the complete opposite of how general everyday people think about fashion. And with the rise of "my fashion nos" slideshows made by teenagers online on tiktok kinda shows this disconnect with fashion editors and the general public. while a balenciaga runway piece that reflects demna gvasalia's upbringing in war torn georgia is seen as genius by fashion editors, is seen as ugly and waste of money by the everyday person. This goes into my thoughts on the idea of using luxury status symbols as a subversive meta commentary of the fashion industry.
When you think of something like a red bottom you think of luxury and class and having alot of money. and people strive for the status of a very rich bitch who wears $4,000 shoes everyday to get an erewhon smoothies. and the way normal working class people get this status is by faking this luxury. painting their $15 target black stiletto's soles red. getting fake birkins to recreate the status on a budget. Getting tacky wall art with name brand designers printed on them at marshalls to achive this false sense of luxury.
And i think alot about translating this feeling of false luxury and putting it in high fashion. wearing obnoxious brand logos on plastic jewelry as an aesthetic. shitty bright yellow versace medusa necklaces, cracked red bottoms because they were painted with dollar tree nail polish as a chic ode to the people who dream of owning a real pair of louboutins. I just love the aesthetic of fake chanel logos, those chanel logo fluffy slides that remind me of something you could purchase at santee alley that retail for $1.8k.
Making chanel look cheap and sleazy is apart of the aesthetic right now. it harkens back to the days of dripping chanel logo necklaces that were big in the hipster indie sleaze scene. And i feel like this is the next evolution of fashion of going into this phase of being messy and gross with luxury items, styling runway pieces in unflattering trashy ways, fake birkins are the future of fashion!!!!!!!
This can also relate to the rise of dupe culture and how its become more normalized to buy counterfeit or duped items. its more normal to buy a fake gucci marmont than its ever been before. snobby fashionistas look down upon people who do stuff like this. and obviously the counterfeit market is very unsafe and unethical to buy from. but most of the general public doesnt really care about that, because luxury is so inaccessible to them that is more respected to own fake designer.
but yeah thats just my thoughts on general public's relationship with fashion and how it can be used as a subversive commentary on how status is viewed in society!!!!!!!

Hi Jenn. I've seen you mention in previous asks that naming social media or other websites could potentially date a book - which might not be a problem if the author wants to keep it set in a certain time period. What would be your advice regarding grocery stores? It can sound awkward to say "she popped into the supermarket" or "went down to her local chain store" and easier to say Tesco (if UK)/Target/Walmart, etc? Are stores like these, if not evergreen, a bit more likely to be stable staples?
Tesco has existed for many years and continues to exist. I think it's perfectly fine to mention the name of it in your book, assuming it's set in a contemporary era or past in which Tesco existed.
Naming a specific store might also give us some clues about the priorities, location, class, etc, of the character. A rich / bougie person in L.A. might pop down to Whole Foods or Erewhon. or particularly health-conscious person might pop down to the farmer's market, a person shopping for a huge family might go to CostCo in the US, somebody who is on a strict budget or in a rural area might go to the dollar store or Walmart for groceries because there are limited choices. Target has a different kind of demographic than Dollar Tree, just like Tesco has a different demographic than Harrod's Food Hall.
Of course, you also have no idea if Tesco will go bankrupt next year and all the locations will close, or if the CEO will be embroiled in some major scandal that reduces the name "Tesco" to being synonymous with the scandal, or if the company will be bought by some investment fund and all the locations will change their name to Grumblebug's. (Probably not! But hey! Things happen!)
So, sure, IF one of those things happened, yes, your book would be "dated" in the sense that it would clearly have been written Pre-Scandal. But also: WHO CARES? You can't account for everything that MIGHT happen in the world. And it's OK that books are "of their time", too. (Like, Jane Austen books talk about the fashions and trends that were popular in Jane Austen times. They are "dated" in that sense -- you can probably tell the decade they were written in/about even if you didn't know. Is that... a problem? Or is it just the nature of books, that the world moves on from the time in which they were written and are set, and that's fine!)
(Of course, if you are concerned about it you could also just make up the name of a store that has whatever vibe. "Hey, stop by PriceMart on your way home and pick up some bread and milk" or "I want to stop at Green Goddess for a kale smoothie on the way" -- there may not be a PriceMart or Green Goddess, but readers will know what you mean.)

Miss 9shihtzu, do you have any thoughts regarding curated imperfection?
anon. i thought this was like a poetic term u made up but i gogled it just to b sure and turns out it is a social media marketing phenomena! in which celebs/influencers curate "acceptable flaws" to make themselves seem more 'relatable' such as a pile of laundry in the bg of their vid, "bad hair day" thirst traps, a loose thread on their balenciaga hoodie. very transparent, appealing to the trend of learned helplessness that plagues the apps & websites recent;y. to combat this we must work together to make our flaws as un-commodify-able as possible & we must also act very empowered by them. we nee d to start making pondwater blood smoothies & film ourselves drinking them in a rusted old shack with no windows only the camera flash illuminating the deep ridges etched into our twisted faces. then write about the magical properties this enchants us with such as telekenesis & levitation. this wi;ll create a new self cannibalizing meme cycle that may result in a few deaths, however, the sacrifice wld b worth it for execs to decide maybe we should leave the flawed people to their business & return to tradition of making celebs seem like they are unattainable ideals far above the general public. in order to act upon this they wld start taking celebrities off social media so they can no longer intermingle w the public, & w their absence the internet would naturally begin it's healing. see anon i think 10 step ahead like tonty soprano & if you vote for pinkmoondoll this coming election season i promice to take affirmative action in the name of all oomfies ^_^

I've been thinking about fan music.
Specifically, I've been thinking about "AD INFINITUM," a Deltarune song that wormed its way into my ear by being pretty good, then into my brain by having some flaws that are both obvious and interesting.
youtube
If I wanted to sell someone on "AD INFINITUM," I'd describe it as three parts "Rock Island," two parts other songs Robert Preston talk-sang (affectionate) in that musical, two parts the start of "Welcome to the Internet" (the wiki-walk through things you can do online), one part high-budget-Lin-Manuel-Miranda-imitation lyricism, flavored with the most iconic/annoying online advertising trends and a dash of overstimulated meltdown.
And if you know anything about Deltarune's second chapter, then it should be pretty clear why this fits Spamton. And it does! It sounds like it should be absolute chaos, but it's directed chaos. It comes together.
Except for the references.
See, if I described "AD INFINITUM" that way, I'd be lying by omission. It's also, conservatively, five parts overt reference to Deltarune. These references range from "Maybe someone unfamiliar with Deltarune would assume this was just marketing exaggeration or lolrandom humor" to "[HYPERLINK BLOCKED]". (By which I mean, even as someone who knows everything there is to know about Deltarune, the [HYPERLINK BLOCKED]s were distracting and irritating. Not enough to make me throw out what the song does well, but still.)
Contrast this with something like Gavin Dunne's "To Be Better."
youtube
On one hand, the musical style doesn't feel as tailored to Kratos as "AD INFINITUM" was to Spamton. It still fits, but it doesn't fit smoothy. On the other hand, it doesn't [HYPERLINK BLOCKED]. Despite the lack of [HYPERLINK BLOCKED], it evokes Kratos's post-2018 character and arc; learning to accept the past without binding the future.
It's a Kratos song as much as "AD INFINITUM" is a Spamton song, just not in ways that are fun to describe. But if you don't know GoW, you might not know if it wasn't for the game footage. There aren't any references that stand out as something unnatural to non-fans.
...
But this isn't exactly a fair comparison, is it? Miracle of Sound has been uploading songs for literally twice as long as the Stupendium. By the time Stupendium's first song was uploaded, Gavin had released an album of 100% original metal songs (not counting the ones based on Irish folklore/pirates) and wrote a song for a notable RPG (Wasteland 2, for the record). And it looks like Stupendium's first year was all covers (plus one Christmas rap)
Let's not forget, Gavin's breakout hit was goddamn "Commander Shepherd". If you haven't heard it before...well, it's called "Commander Shepherd." You can block a hyperlink, you can Mike '97, but you'll never be blunter than "Commander Shepherd". (..."leopard" is literally the only common word that rhymes with "Shepherd," I'm working with what I've got.)
And it's not even the bluntest song in Gavin's first album; that's probably either "The Ballad of Clay Carmine," "Mind of the Bat," or "Necromorph Soup". (Or "I Suck at Call of Duty," if we call that a CoD song and not a song about playing CoD.)
By the same token, the Stupendium's early songs are a lot...I don't want to say worse, but I don't like them as much, and they're definitely closer to "Commander Shepherd" than "AD INFINITUM" was.
This isn't a matter of Stupendium being worse than Miracle of Sound. It's a matter of original fandom songs being a weird thing. It's a friggin' oxymoron, it would be weirder if it wasn't a weird thing! And I've never participated in it, so maybe I shouldn't speculate about why this particular weird thing is weird...
...but I can't help myself.
I feel like it's got something to do with confidence. You make something like "Commander Shepherd" when you're writing for an audience that wants a Mass Effect song. Over time, you accumulate a fanbase that you can start writing for an audience that wants a Miracle of Sound song. Only then can you write something like "To Be Better".
Gavin Dunne clearly knows there are people who want Miracle of Sound songs. Basically every album he's released since Metal Up includes at least one song not inspired by a video game/movie/etc. This gives him confidence that he can write a God of War song that isn't the first thing you imagine when you hear "a song about God of War".
The Stupendium doesn't have that—doesn't have a dozen years of experience, an album of non-IP-based rap, songwriting credits in a medium-name game. "AD INFINITUM" is the best version of the first thing you imagine when you hear "a song about Spamton G. Spamton," but it is still a version of that thing, in ways that make it weaker.
If "AD INFINITUM" played its Spamton closer to the chest, I have to imagine it would be better—better as a sensory overload, as a Music Man homage, as music someone would play in the background, as a rap. But instead, it wears its heart-shaped object on its sleeve.

Coconut Milk Market Demand Patterns: Forecasting Growth Rate and Key Insights for Stakeholders
The coconut milk market has experienced significant growth over the past decade, driven by increasing consumer demand for plant-based alternatives to dairy products. This demand surge is particularly noticeable in the food and beverage, personal care, and wellness industries. As consumers become more health-conscious and environmentally aware, coconut milk is emerging as a versatile and sustainable option in various markets. This article explores the demand patterns, growth forecasts, and critical insights for stakeholders in the coconut milk market.
Tumblr media
Demand Drivers in the Coconut Milk Market
One of the primary drivers of the coconut milk market is the growing trend toward veganism and lactose intolerance. As more people adopt plant-based diets, alternatives to traditional dairy products such as coconut milk, almond milk, and oat milk have gained popularity. Coconut milk, known for its rich and creamy texture, is a favorable choice for many consumers seeking dairy-free and non-dairy options.
Additionally, coconut milk is often considered a healthier alternative due to its lower carbohydrate content compared to dairy milk. It is also rich in medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), which are believed to support metabolism and promote heart health. These health benefits, coupled with the rise in organic food consumption, have made coconut milk a staple in many households.
The foodservice industry, including restaurants, cafes, and food chains, is also contributing to the rising demand for coconut milk. With the growing preference for dairy-free and plant-based beverages, restaurants are increasingly incorporating coconut milk in their menu offerings, from smoothies to vegan desserts and dairy-free lattes.
Growth Forecasts and Market Trends

According to market research reports, the global coconut milk market size was valued at approximately $6 billion in 2023 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 8% from 2024 to 2030. The availability of flavored coconut milk, such as vanilla or chocolate, is also appealing to consumers looking for diverse options for cooking and baking.

Supply Chain Considerations: Although the coconut milk market is expanding rapidly, the supply of raw coconuts can be influenced by climatic conditions. Stakeholders in the supply chain should monitor weather patterns and engage in sustainable sourcing practices to ensure steady product availability.
Marketing Strategies: Given the growing interest in health-conscious and sustainable products, coconut milk brands should adopt transparent marketing practices that highlight the benefits of their products. Focusing on the health aspects, ethical sourcing, and sustainability can create a stronger connection with the target audience.
