Enclosure and abundant planting. This garden has old-world charm with its mass of flower color and its feeling of seclusion. The terrace is enclosed and has a relaxed feel with plants allowed to spread into the jointing of the random stone.

Never been happier! I have so many peppers growing on my plants right now I am so amazed and can't wait until they are ripe!!

So many Thai chilis, habaneros, and real deal peppers +a jalapeño and a couple mystery peppers. Google says they are habaneros but I haven't bought any new habanero seeds and they look completely different from my other habaneros. Still super exciting!!!

I have a vision, and it's green (:
Tumblr media
For those of you who don't know me, hi— I'm Aniah (: and I have a pretty big green thumb; and by this, I really just mean that I'm a proud plant mom. From succulents to vines, from palms to trees, I have it. However, recently, I've grown an itch to add an additional category of plants to the family- kitchen herbs! I'm super excited to get into the rhythm of research and even more excited to go shopping once I complete my Herbs-To-Buy list! A few herbs that have already added to my list are Oregano, Lavender, Rosemary, Thyme, Parsley, Dill, Basil, and Sage. If you guys have any tips or recommendations at all regarding ideal herbs or just gardening in general, feel free to drop a comment! By the way, these will all be indoors <3

After decades of growing food at home, there is still a popular plant Josh has never tried - Watermelon.
That’s partly because space is at a premium and watermelon plants can get quite large, so he’s decided to plant some smaller, heirloom varieties: ‘Sugar Baby’ and ‘Golden Midget’. The fruit of these only gets to about 3kg, so they can be grown up, not out.
Watermelons prefer well-drained soils but also are quite hungry and thirsty, so Josh works in some compost and blood and bone fertiliser to his plot, which is already set up with drip irrigation. If you’re gardening on heavy clay soils, build up mounds with lots of compost and plant into those.
He mulches over the driplines then sets up a four steel mesh panels to form two frame for the vines to scramble up.
Josh places a reo mesh panel on either side of the bed, leans them together to form an ‘A’ frame, and ties them together at the top with wire. Secure the bases with steel pins or stakes.
Growing the plants up a frame will also increase the airflow and reduce the risk of fungal disease.
As the fruit grow, they can be supported with old stockings tied to the frame, to stop the stems snapping under their own weight.
The soil temperature needs to be above 20C for the seeds to germinate, so in cooler climates it’s worth starting them off in containers indoors to get a jump-start on the season.
Plants need to be about 1m apart, so Josh plants three seeds at the base of each panel and he’ll thin out to the strongest plant once they’ve germinated.
Josh waters in the seeds but, once plants are germinated and growing, it’s best to use the drip irrigation so reduce the risk of fungal disease on the leaves.
A liquid feed every two or three weeks will keep them pumping.
The small heirloom varieties are also faster to ripen, being ready to harvest in anything from 10 to 14 weeks.
Featured plants:
Watermelon ‘Golden Midget’ (Citrullus lanatus cv.)
Watermelon ‘Sugar Baby’ (Citrullus lanatus cv.)

12/26/23.
New releases have slowed to a trickle this time of the year. No worries - fellow Bandcampers have swooped in to save the day by buying music. Over the course of the next few days, I will be posting releases that I "discovered" by poaching others recent purchases.
800 Cherries was a Sapporo, Japan band that reminds me of The High Llamas and BMX Bandits. The Bandcamp write-up mentions Stereolab and others. This was originally issued in 1999, and now KiliKiliVilla (Tokyo, Japan) is reissuing it.
BONUS: Here is a link to a split cassette of two Japanese bands: Keichi & The Coconut Groove and Small Garden.

Planted wildflower mix a friend gave me, it went crazy, idk wether to cut back some of the leaves to give the other flowers more space. I may have overcrowded this pot a lot! Help
Carrot top going well, parsley is small and hesitant but it's maybe not the right time for it. This pot Is full of compostables under the soil so I'm just hoping for these plants to help process it into better soil for next year's plants.
Popped by a local eco festival and got myself some herb starters - here we have, Dill, Mint and Rosemary. I want to plant them in a stack so I can do the moisture tower thing.

Thanksgiving wouldn't be complete without squash and pumpkins! Here you can see my squash and pumpkin plants growing in large pots in a sunny spot against the wall of the stables on my property. The gravel French drain also helps keep the area dry and hygienic for the developing fruits.

The veg patch is next.
I really wanted to improve the soil and plant directly in the ground but 3 inches under the surface is builders rubble. So I put down membrane and added raised beds filled with free good quality top soil and some compost.
The plants are from local garden centres, FB market place and local sellers.
Not sure if I'm going to add more topsoil and sow clover around the beds or add gravel yet.
