din djarin x female!reader
warning: attempted sexual assault (not by our boy mando, and i don’t describe it in depth the furthest it goes is non-consensual kissing), light smut, angst then comfort, then fluff fluff fluff, identity theft, mentions of slave trade, canon violence, dom!din trying hard to be sub!din for you, he doesn’t succeed for long
word count: 4,174
Summary: You travel the galaxy with a Mandalorian who is much softer than his impenetrable beskar would lead others to believe. He leaves you with his son to search for a Quarry, but it’s not the Mando you’ve come to know and love who returns to you.
“It shouldn’t take long.” Mando hummed as he collected his gear from his weapon’s storage. You sat cross legged on the Razor Crest’s floor with the child in your lap. His small green hand played with the small, metal ball he seemed to always find. Your hand stroked his ears only stopping to push the ball away from his mouth when he began to try and chew on it. Mando turned around to stare down at you. “Will you be alright here?”
After traveling with the Mandalorian for the last two months, babysitting and completing repairs on the ship, you had finally grown accustomed to the silver beskar covered man. Initially it had been difficult for you to even look at the man for longer than a second⏤ too intimidated by the black t-shape visor that stared back at you. However, joining him had been your only option at the time, an act of self preservation, so you had to push your fear aside. Luckily, you had quickly learned that though the metal he was covered in was impossible to penetrate, the man underneath was as soft as they come.
You learned that the solemn, silent, and dangerous facade Mando wore was more or less an interpretation of what people saw. Yes, he was dangerous. You had seen him wrestle quarries three time his size and come out unscathed, but you had also seen him humming a song under his breath while giving the child a bath. You had seen Mando go out of his way to purchase you a new pair of boots in the market simply because he noticed your discomfort with your current pair. The brief times you felt his touch, a brush against your arm or a hand on your back, it was soft and comforting. His eyes were impossible to see behind his helmet, but you could feel the care in his gaze. Having Mando’s attention on you felt like safety.
Mando called out your name and you blinked in surprise. “Oh, um, yeah! We’ll be fine, don’t worry.”
“I shouldn’t be gone long. Days at most.” He reassured before you could even ask. You stood up and Mando drifted closer⏤ his gloved hand reached out brush the child’s head. Mando chuckled when his son cooed and giggled in response. You heard a long time ago that the best judge of a person’s character was how they treated animals and children. Mando passed that test with flying colors. “You remember the rules?”
“Hmm, no running with scissors?” You joked. Mando tilted his head and you chuckled. “Don’t open the Razor Crest’s ramp for anyone but you, and if I do have to leave for some emergency, get to a crowded spot with plenty of witnesses and talk to no one. Not until you come for us.”
Mando nodded in approval. He gave the child’s head one last pet along the ears and as his hand pulled away you felt his leather covered fingers drag down the length of your bare arm. Heat crept up the back of your neck and you prayed to any deity that was listening that Mando hadn’t heard the hitch in your breath. You were not attracted to your metal armored Mandalorian employer and friend. At least that’s what you kept telling yourself.
Without another word, Mando made his way to the back of the cargo hold. He opened the ramp before heading down and you called out for him to be careful. Mando glanced over his shoulder, at you and the child, and you waved. You stood at the cargo hold’s edge as Mando pressed a button on his gauntlet and the ramp began to rise. As the metal door rose, you stared at the mandalorian’s back until the ramp cut him off from sight.
Din was more distracted than usual and he told himself it wasn’t because of the newest addition to the Razor Crest. It obviously wasn’t because of you. No, he was just busy with all the bounties he was juggling and the stress of trying to find the child’s people. Then the added dilemma of his current quarry. Already he had been on the flesh trader’s trail for three days. Three full days. That was nothing in comparison to past hunts that would take him weeks on end, but Din found his patience wearing very, very thin.
“Are you ready yet, mate?” A voice asked through the closed door.
Din had to resist the urge to roll his eyes. His only lead came from a mercenary who was hunting an Inner Rim politician that had come all the way out here to participate in the slave trade. It was the only access Din would have to get into the market to find his quarry and it came at a cost. Din glanced down at the helmet held in his hands. It was an oddly shaped red thing from Kaleesh culture. His new mercenary partner made it very clear that if he walked in as a Mandalorian everything would be lost. On any normal bounty Din would’ve risked it anyways. There was very little in the galaxy that could coax him out of his armor, leave him bare to the world, but a child in danger did it.
A mother had come to him after he searched for a lead in the local cantina on his first night. She had fallen to her knees in front of him and begged for his help⏤ she offered everything she owned and more in return. Her only child, an eleven year old little girl, had been stolen away from her. Dragged to the flesh market to be sold. Din swore to her that he’d bring her back. On his word as a Mandalorian, she would be reunited with her daughter. He just wasn’t allowed to do it looking like a Mandalorian.
“Seriously, mate, we’re going to be late!” Trigg, the mercenary, barked once more.
Din settled the helmet over his head and shifted uncomfortably. It didn’t fit quite like his real one did, but it was tight enough that he wasn’t worried about it falling off in the heat of battle. For a second, he just stared at himself in the mirror. Red armor of cloth and leather covered every inch of his skin, black gloves pulled on tight, and his oddly shaped helmet covered his face entirely. Din hated it more than anything. But, the sooner he saved the girl and caught his quarry, the sooner he could return to his ship. Return to the child and you.
“I’ll be right out.” Din called back. He settled all his beskar armor pieces into the tarp bag he had borrowed from the child’s mother. It was her home they were using as a base of sorts. Din hid the bag in the closet of the room behind a stack of boxes. It made him anxious to leave his armor behind, but he forced himself to step away and open the door.
Trigg stood in the hall wearing his own personal gear. The blond man had scars from a raking claw on the side of his head leaving those patches with sparse hair. His arms were crossed over his chest and he stared at Din in a mix of annoyance and impatience. “Finally. Did you have to do your hair?”
“It’s you we’re waiting on now.” Din replied dryly as he marched past the man to the door.
The sooner, the better.
Night had fallen for the third night of Mando being gone. It was too soon for you to be worried about him, but a ball of anxiety still sat in your gut. He had been away for longer periods of time before. The longest thus far being three weeks. You were mumbling a soft song under your breath as you rocked the child to sleep. When his eyes drifted close, you carefully set him in the hammock above Mando’s bunk and tucked a blanket around him.
When you were certain that the kid was settled, you drifted toward the fresher to get ready for bed yourself. You wondered what it would take to convince Mando to pick up a bounty on a planet with an ocean soon. Going from the lava plains of Nevarro to the deserts of Tatooine and now this dusty Outer Rim world was bleak. You missed water. You had grown up near a river on your homeworld and spent a decent amount of time there. It wasn’t until you saw dry planet after dry planet that you truly began to appreciate natural bodies of water.
You shrugged out of your clothes, tossing them aside, and slid into a pair of shorts and one of Mando’s shirts. It had been borrowed early on in your travels and now it belonged more to you than it did him. The dark shirt was large enough to cover most of your shorts. You had been in the middle of washing your face when you heard the tell tale sound of the ramp. Quickly, you grabbed a towel and dried your face while rushing out of the fresher.
Mando was walking up the ramp just as you entered the cargo hold and you shot him a smile, “Hey, Mando.” He came to a sudden stop. You glanced around but saw no evidence of a quarry behind or near him. Had they gotten away? “What happened with the quarry?”
The Mandalorian crossed his arms and a nervous energy settled over your skin. The way he stood just seemed…off. And, the silence that surrounded him wasn’t the usual comfortable quiet you had grown used to. Mando’s helmet tilted some, as if his eyes were raking over your form, and you tugged on the bottom of your shirt anxiously. This was an outfit you wore to sleep every night on the Razor Crest, but right now was the first time you felt uncomfortable having it on around Mando.
“Are you⏤Are you injured?” You asked.
Mando strolled closer to you. Another bit of him that wasn’t right⏤ his gait. As you tried to gather your thoughts, he came to a stop right in front of you. Nearly chest to chest. A lump had formed in your throat, mouth dry, and you tried to swallow it down. Being around Mando always made your stomach feel as if it were filled with butterflies, made your heart race out of your chest, made an addicting warmth pool in your core.
That was not how you felt right now.
Your hand reached out, as quickly as you could manage it, and slammed against the lock button of Mando’s bunk. The metal door slid down. It clicked into place, and the Mandalorian in front of you grabbed you by the throat and shoved you back until you slammed into the Razor Crest’s wall. You clawed at the familiar, gloved hand tightening around your throat as a low, unfamiliar chuckle rumbled through the modulator.
“What’s wrong, baby?” A voice that did not belong to your Mandalorian asked. “Aren’t you happy to see me? You were a minute ago.”
“Wh⏤Who⏤” You tried to spit out but you could barely breathe let alone form words.
“I’m your Mandalorian, baby.” The cruel laugh coming out from behind the t-shape visor you found comfort in felt so very wrong. He yanked you off the wall and released your throat. You managed to gasp a single breath of air before he backhanded you across the face hard enough to see stars. You fell to your knees and elbows roughly, a cry of pain leaving your lips, but you struggled to find a weapon of any kind. “That’s right. Crawl away, baby. Run. I’m a Mandalorian who likes to hunt, and now you’re my prey. How’s that sound?”
Your hand found a screwdriver, lying off to the side where you had been working on something under the floorboard earlier, just as he kicked you in the side to flip you over. The imposter knelt on the ground over you and you tried to stab him where only the flight suit sat. Unfortunately, he turned fast enough that the screwdriver struck beskar and did absolutely nothing. He laughed once more as you gave up the attack to try and slip away, but he grabbed your hands by the wrist and pinned you to the ground. The imposter sat on top of your thighs, kneeling over you, and you were forced to stare at your reflection in Mando’s armor.
It would be a bold faced lie for you to say you hadn’t daydreamed about having the beskar armor on top of you⏤ the weight of it pressing into you in every delicious way you could think of. But not like this. Not with a stranger inside of it.
“Who knew the ship came with such a pretty little whore.” The imposter hummed. He shifted your arms so he could pin both your wrists with one hand. With his other, he grasped the bottom of the beskar helmet and pulled it off. The man’s eyes were a piercing blue. Cold and cruel. Blond hair covered his scalp except on the side of his head where the scars of what looked like claw marks sat. He tossed the helmet aside and gave you a sickening grin. “Is that what you’re here for? You keep the Mandalorian’s bed warm? Let him fuck you when he’s done with a hunt?”
“Get the kriff off of me!” You struggled against his grip, against his touch, but nothing seemed to deter him from using his other hand to run over your body. You screamed until you were hoarse and when you cried out for Mando the man sitting on top of you just laughed. Faintly, you could hear frantic tapping behind Mando’s bunk door and fear struck you. Was the child awake? He wouldn’t be able to unlock the door from inside you didn’t think.
It seemed the imposter was too immersed in you to hear the sound.
“How about this,” The man leaned closer into your space, “I get a quick taste of you now, and then, once we’re up and in hyperspace, I’ll fuck you better than your Mando ever could, yeah?”
His lips crashed down on yours roughly. You tried to turn your face away, but the imposter bit down on your lower lip hard enough to draw blood. Between the metallic taste of your blood on your tongue and the smell of his rancid breath you were going to be sick. You gasped in pain and he took advantage by shoving his tongue into your mouth. He pressed his hips down into you, grinding against your stomach now, and the feel of his erection pressing into you made a horrified sob slip form you. It seemed to only spurn him on further. He let go of one of your hands to grasp at the waistband of your pants.
The sound of sprinting footsteps made the imposter sit up and you were barely able to register what was happening when a body dressed in red leather slammed into the beskar covered imposter⏤ both men falling away. Taking advantage of your freedom, you scrambled back as quickly as you could. The stranger dressed in red, wearing an oddly shaped helmet that covered his face, had a hand wrapped around the imposter’s throat while his other fist pounded away at the man’s face. Grunts of anger filled the air with every blow thrown and the imposter fought back only for a moment before his body went slack.
You scrambled away further but your back hit a metal crate sitting in the cargo hold. It shifted slightly and the sound made the stranger sit up and spin around. You gasped⏤panicked. Heart still racing. The imposter laid motionless. His face bruised, broken, and bloody beyond all recognition. You were breathing hard, trying to suck in more air as the air you did get brought no relief. The stranger jumped up, motions smooth and agile, and rushed to you. A cry of fear left you as you tried to pathetically jump up, but his hands wrapped around you. Soft, but firm. A comforting weight.
“It’s me. It’s me. You’re safe, mesh’la.” A familiar voice came out of the unfamiliar mask. The bright red and angry shapes still jarring to look at and you tried to struggle away. He pulled away to rip off his gloves. One hand came to rest on the side of your face, while the other lifted the red helmet just enough to reveal a jaw covered in dark scruff and lips. “Listen to me, mesh’la. You’re safe. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. It’s me. I’m here.”
You were still shaking, your entire body threatening to tremble into pieces, but your breaths were beginning to grow controlled. The warm hand on your face was grounding. It was familiar. You couldn't see the man’s eyes, but you could feel his soft gaze. Safe. You felt safe.
“M⏤Mando?” You gasped.
“Yes.” He nodded. “I’m here, mesh’la. You’re safe now.”
You broke into an uncontrollable sob, unable to bite it back, and Mando didn’t hesitate to pull you into his arms. The coarse, red armor you buried your face into felt unfamiliar, but the strong arms that wrapped around you felt right.
For the first time, Din felt uncomfortable in his helmet. It smelled of the spice that Trigg disgustingly chewed on. He couldn’t even bring himself to pull his armor on. It left him in a pair of plain sweats and shirt. After setting you in his bunk, the child curled into your side, he had stripped the mercenary out of his beskar and thrown the piece of shit into the carbonite freezer.
The job had gone so well then so bad. Din found the young Rodian child and killed his quarry. He’d only get half the bounty with the flesh trader dead, but something was better than nothing. The moment he returned the girl to her mother his heart had stopped when he realized his armor was missing. Din had sprinted to the Razor Crest, faster than he had ever run, and still he hadn’t come soon enough.
Din stepped out of the fresher. The Razor Crest was in hyperspace and the cargo hold was dark. The only light spilling from the open door behind him. The sound of whimpering filled the otherwise silent space around him. Din hurried to the bunk to see you tossing and turning. He scooped the child up and set him in the hammock before crawling in to try and calm you.
He called out your name, bare hands on your shoulders, and when your eyes snapped open, thanks to his visor, he could see clearly the way panic and fear filled them. You screamed and began to swing at him. His helmet. It was his helmet. Without thinking, Din ripped his helmet off and threw it out of the bunk. Din pulled you into his arms again, pressing your face to his shoulder, and whispered reassurances.
“It’s me, Mesh’la. It’s me. I’m sorry. I was wearing the helmet. You’re safe, I promise.”
“Mando?” You breathed. He buried his hand in your hair and pulled you tighter into his chest. As if the two of you weren’t already tangled together in the small confines of his bunk. “I’m sorry I hit you⏤”
“It didn’t hurt. I’m sorry. I’m sorry I left you alone. I’m sorry I didn’t get here sooner.” Din didn’t know which emotion waged in him the most⏤ guilt or anger. They were neck and neck. You took in a deep shaky breath and your hot breath on his neck made him sigh in relief. You were safe in his arms. Din rubbed your back and the question fell out before he could hold it back. “Did he… Mesh’la, did⏤”
“No.” You whispered. “You got here just in time.”
Din could feel tears soaking into his shirt. When the tears stopped, Din coaxed you out of the bunk and onto the cargo hold floor. He grabbed a first aid kit and rushed back so you weren’t left alone for too long. The only light still came from the open door of the fresher and he sat so his back was to it. The dim light illuminated your features and it was like a spotlight to the injuries you sported. He had told you that you could open your eyes. With the way you sat, it’d be too dim for you to see his face, but you said you didn’t want to risk it.
He let his fingers trace the forming bruise surrounding your right eye. It trailed down to brush against the torn skin of your lower lip. Dank farrik. That kriffing fucker had bit you. He could see the outline of teeth. Din’s jaw clenched. He grabbed a bit of bacta and rubbed it gently into the forming bruise. He was going to do the same for your lower lip when you stopped him.
“Did I hurt you?” He blurted.
“No, no. Not that.” You mumbled. “Can I… Can I ask you for a favor?”
“Anything, mesh’la. Anything.”
“Can you kiss me?” You asked. Din was certain he had misheard you. It was why he sat in silence. He was trying to puzzle out what it was you had actually said. You spoke again, nervous, “You don’t have to. I⏤I…”
“You want me to…kiss you?”
You nodded. Eyes still closed lightly. “I know it’s dumb. It⏤ I just don’t want to feel his lips anymore. I don’t want the taste of him on me.”
“That’s not dumb, mesh’la.”
Din settled one of his hands on the side of your face. His thumb caressed the soft skin of your cheek. Slowly, agonizingly slowly, Din began to lean in. He didn’t want to startle you. He wanted to give you every opportunity to pull away if you needed to. Din would be lying to himself, again, if he said he hadn’t imagined the way your lips would feel on him. But not like this. He hated that these were the circumstances, but there wasn’t a single thing Din wouldn’t do for you if you asked.
His nose brushed against yours. Din was close enough that he could feel your lips part. He waited one second more before pressing his lips softly against yours. One of your hands lifted to tangle in his hair and a simple gesture shouldn’t make him feel so hot under his skin. The kiss was slow and tender. Din was terrified to press too hard and bring you pain. The injury to your lower lip still so fresh. And after what you had just suffered through, he wanted you to have all the control. If you needed to use him to rid yourself of that nightmare, to erase the memory that bastard left on your lips, then he would.
Your tongue brushed against his lower lip, tracing it, and he parted his lips for you giving you room to explore him. Maker, the taste of you was so sweet. It took every single ounce of Din’s self control to not deepen the moment even further. The kiss grew almost frantic. A hand in his hair and another at the back of his neck to pull him into you. You pulled back just enough to suck in a sharp breath before your lips was back on his and Din lost his battle for self control.
He wrapped his other arm around your waist and pulled you into his lap. Din was caught off guard when you pushed down to press yourself against his already hard cock, but it was a welcome surprise. He grabbed your hips, hands tightening into the soft skin there, and grinded into you. You moaned into his mouth and Din pulled away briefly so he could press open mouth kisses along your jaw then down your neck until he reached your shoulder. Thoughtlessly, he bit down, wanting to leave evidence of himself on you, and you let out a sharp gasp while grinding into him again. Din ran his tongue against the bite soothingly.
Din’s hands slipped under your shirt and he desperately let his lips find yours once more. His tongue slipped past your lips, but then he tasted it. The sharp, metallic tang of blood. Din pulled back quickly realizing his plan to let you run the show had gone to shit. Both of you were breathless.
“Are you okay, mesh’la??” He pulled one hand away from your hip to touch your face. His thumb brushed against your lower lip and in the dim light he could see the tint of red.
“Thank you.” You breathed. You leaned forward, pressing a chaste kiss that missed and only landed on the corner of his lips. Then you leaned your head on his shoulder and just took slow breaths. Din let his knuckles drag up and down your spine. He could feel your entire body going limp as you melted into his hold. You mumbled, “Thank you, Mando.”
“Din.” He replied, but he didn’t know if you had already fallen asleep or not. “Call me Din.”

Mercy in the Shadows - Sixshot x reader
🌵 If there are any mistakes, please forgive me.
--------------------------------
The black market of Cybertron sprawled beneath the grimy spires of an abandoned industrial sector, where the remnants of war and conquest had been shoved aside to decay in shadows. Towering structures—relics of past battles and conquests—cast long, harsh shadows over crowded rows of stalls where vendors hawked anything with a price. Stolen weapons, forbidden tech, scraps of Cybertronian armor, and unfortunate captives from distant planets—all of it littered the scene in a chaotic mixture of neon and rust. But the boredom had brought him here, among his fellow Phase Sixers. Each item was a trophy, a whisper of violence from a hundred other worlds, and Sixshot drifted through it with a growing, gnawing sense of restlessness.
Megatron’s unexpected day off grated against his nature; idleness felt like rust forming on his circuits. A day without purpose felt like a day stripped of his essence. That's insulting. They were scattered across the market, each drifting toward different distractions like predators prowling in the dusk.
Overlord prowled through the stalls with his usual swagger, laughing off merchants' terrified glances with mock kindness that barely hid his violent intent. Sixshot had long ago come to understand Overlord’s twisted relish for bloodshed, a brutality that went beyond any sense of duty. There was something grotesque, almost obscene, about his joy in suffering, a sentiment that made Sixshot uneasy.
Black Shadow, on the other hand, drifted between stalls with a smooth confidence, a face that alternated between detached boredom and intrigue. Occasionally, he exchanged a few sly words with some of the merchants or put his arm around some of his deceptions colleagues and appear very friendly. But Sixshot knew better—he saw through the charade. Black Shadow wasn't here out of camaraderie. No, the only reason he is here: profit. Energizing his private stockpile was his real objective. Sixshot knew as soon as black shadow got a good enough price, he’d betray them without a second thought.
Putting thoughts about his colleague aside, sixshot adjusted his posture. He leaned back against a wall of rough, rusted steel, arms crossed, optics skimming the market with a disinterested glare. His gaze skimmed over the vendors and buyers, creatures of every shape and size, each chattering in grating voices over who or what might be worth a trade. The entire place was a crowded mess, littered with broken artifacts and miserable captives. Some were quiet, others despairing, a few shouting or growling in languages he didn’t bother to understand.
But then, his optics landed on "you."
It took him a second to recognize the figure—a tiny form crammed behind the energy bars of a cage, looking so out of place it was almost laughable. Among the clanking, bulkier species of aliens, among all the caged beasts and prisoners from dozens of battlefronts, you stood out: fragile, trembling, skin pale under the harsh Cybertronian lights.
A human.
The human's fear was almost palpable. Your breathing was quick, shallow, and you clung to the far side of the cage as if hoping it would dissolve into an escape. Your wide eyes darted around the market in search of something, anything, to save you from the towering titans that prowled the area. That look was one Sixshot knew well.
He couldn’t resist the pull of curiosity. What do you feel when you know your existence is utterly insignificant in a universe ruled by giants? he mused. Something about their terror was... different from what he usually saw. Battle gave him excitement, yes, but this? This was a glimpse into the helplessness he so rarely encountered.
He pushed off the wall, striding slowly toward your cage, his optics studying every detail. Your small form clung to the bars, eyes darting wildly around the market, your breath coming in quick, shallow gulps. From the trembling in your limbs, to the way you pressed yourself against the back of the cage, every fiber of your being screamed of fear, like an animal that knew it was cornered and hopelessly outmatched.
There was no bravery in you, no defiance, no hidden strength waiting to be unveiled. And yet…your fear was different from what he normally saw in battle. There was a desperation in it, a rawness that he rarely encountered. The beings he faced on the battlefield had a hardened kind of fear, a last-stand defiance, as though they had already accepted their fate before they ever laid optics on him. They were soldiers, warriors resigned to the end. You were none of those things. You were terrified in a way he hadn’t seen since his earliest days of combat, when his first foes had still been innocent enough to believe that fighting back would save them.
He leaned closer, his optics boring down on you, watching with an intensity that made the cage rattle as his presence loomed. You flinched violently, clutching the bars of the cage as though willing yourself to vanish. Your eyes met his briefly, wide and pleading, then darted away, too afraid to hold his gaze. The look on your face—it stirred something deep within him, a flicker of recognition that was more instinct than memory.
This was prey. True prey. The kind that knew only terror, the kind that understood its helplessness in the face of absolute power.
He was aware of your every movement: the small tremors running through you, the quiver of your lip as you fought to stay silent, the shallow rise and fall of your chest as you struggled to control your breath. He could practically feel your pulse racing from where he stood, a tiny, frantic heartbeat in the face of a predator that could crush you with a single motion.
Something cold and calculating sparked in Sixshot’s optics as he observed you, an old, he hadn’t felt in cycles. It wasn’t the thrill of conquest, nor the satisfaction of a worthy opponent. It was simply a glimpse into something so small and insignificant that it gave him a reminder of what he truly was: a weapon, a machine of total annihilation, one that even other Decepticons viewed with unease. His power had made him a pariah, feared and isolated even among the monsters he called allies.
Yet, he respected the strong. He valued those who fought back, who met him on the battlefield with fire in their optics. This human was none of those things. But there was still something about them, something attractive.
An annoyed sigh came from him, like a roll of thunder. “Pathetic,” he muttered, more to himself than to you. But he didn’t move away. He stayed there, towering over the cage, optics fixed on you like a scientist inspecting a specimen.
The vendor, noticing Sixshot’s interest, sidled over eagerly, his voice a grating whine. “Quite a rare find, isn’t it? A rarity from that little backwater planet, Earth." The merchant gave a smug chuckle. “Not much of a fighter, but they cower in the most entertaining ways.”
The words barely registered to Sixshot. He continued to observe you, noting every subtle tremor, every desperate shift of your eyes. He saw the way your fingers gripped each other tightly, knuckles turning white under the strain, your breathing growing shallow as you tried to make yourself smaller, less visible.
“Interested?” the trader ventured, clearly hoping for a transaction.
Sixshot’s optics narrowed. “What would I do with something so fragile?” he replied, his tone dismissive, though his gaze hadn’t shifted.
The merchant chuckled, mistaking Sixshot's interest as mere curiosity . “A toy, perhaps. Or a pet to keep your quarters interesting. Some find it amusing, having one of these creatures cowering in the corner, watching you with those little eyes. It can be… satisfying.”
The idea of taking you as a “pet” was laughable to him. Amusing? No, that wasn’t it. He had no need for amusement. His life was not about leisure or indulgence—it was about the thrill of worthy combat, the satisfaction of watching an opponent meet their end with dignity or terror. You didn’t fit into that world; you were not a warrior, nor an enemy, nor anything remotely close to a combatant. And yet, your fear called to him.
It would be so easy to snuff out that fear. One flick of his finger could silence you, end your miserable terror in an instant. It would be a mercy—a quick death, a release from the agony of knowing you were powerless.
And yet, he didn’t.
“Do you understand what you are?” he asked quietly, his voice a deep, rumbling growl that filled the space around you. The question seemed almost rhetorical, but he was genuinely curious. What went on in a mind that knew it was nothing more than prey? A creature so weak it couldn’t even defend itself, forced to rely on hope or mercy—neither of which existed here.
Your head lifted, just barely, and you managed a timid nod, your eyes wide and glazed with tears. He could see the struggle in your face, the way you fought to keep some shred of composure in the face of absolute terror.
"Then you understand this is where you die," he continued, almost conversationally, as if discussing the weather. His tone held no malice, no cruelty; it was a simple statement of fact.
Your lips parted, a faint tremble to your voice. "Please…" The word slipped out, barely audible, a plea that you knew was pointless yet voiced out of desperation.
With a dismissive huff, he straightened, turning away from the cage, folding his arms and giving you a final, unreadable look. “I’ll take this one,” he said simply to the merchant, his voice devoid of any emotion but finality.
The merchant’s face brightened with greed. “A fine choice! You’ll enjoy having a creature so… malleable. They’re delightful to break.”
Sixshot didn’t respond. He didn’t take you because he wanted a pet. He didn’t take you becausehe found any joy in your terror. But perhaps, in his own way, he was giving you a purpose. A purpose in his world—a chance to exist, however briefly. Or it would simply be a way for him to kill time.
Whatever it is, then for you, it would be the beginning of a nightmare from which there was no escape.

[✦IV. WEEP FOR HIM, I BID OF THEE] SNIPPET • . DR RATIO
I promise I'm still alive just swamped with work almost done with chapter 4!!
LAMENT OF OUROBOROS MASTERLIST
HONKAI STAR RAIL MASTERLIST
MASTERLIST ・゜・NAVIGATION
It didn’t matter, not when the light had faded from the ink on your body and blood bubbled from your dry mouth. Dimly, you registered your metal pail floating on its side just near the blond; and your eyes could only flick feebly upwards to meet his own, widened ones. Your heart pulsed, sticky and metallic on your tongue: and it clouded the words forming on your tongue weakly.
“To… umiro.” The syllables coalesced into a clumsy string in honey tongue; a futile attempt to be reassuring, when your clothes were stained with blood and charred marks and your fists still palpitated with small pulses of electrons. ‘It’s dead’. You staggered, pressing your fingers into the tree you hid behind only minutes prior to this—digging your nails harshly into the bark while you fought to stay upright.
The profile was right—transferring energy into another form was far more efficient than turning it into a material object. But that didn’t do any good when you could feel the unfamiliar energy; you were due to collapse any time soon from the fatigue that had built up—ignoring the energy sacrificed.
Still, you thought drowsily as you fumbled the thin, cold handle of your pail (the clay, miraculously, had stayed half in the bucket), the combat experiment had been extraordinarily useful to gauge how far you could push yourself in a fight. Casually, you wrung out your shirt and the rolled-up bottoms of your trousers, before you glanced at the massive snake one last time. Just like a minute ago, it was still dead.
Whatever. It no longer concerned you; as someone who dropped Lament of Ouroboros an hour into playing, you had no concept of the value of the beast, nor how rare it was. Objectively, it was a fat snake. Perhaps you could take its massive skin for yourself, or find a market for basilisk meat, or even carve its massive teeth into more suitable weapons than the damn stick you’d found to walk with.
Like a cracked pomegranate, the lightning had pierced through its body and spilled its innards onto the banks, while a fang lay chipped nearby.
“Wait!” Ah. In all honesty, you’d forgotten about the blond man who now scrambled to his feet with a stricken, almost-panicked look in his eyes. While he was in the throes of adrenaline, his pinprick pupils had allowed you to observe briefly the vibrant turquoise and magenta rings in his eyes—blue spreading into the purple in a shade you’d never quite seen so bright. Though now, they had dilated back to a healthy size; similarly, his irises were almost completely purple as he held your wrist in a slight daze. You frowned.
“Yes?” A headache began to form.
In the end, you took the stranger home.
“Sorry,” he’d murmured with his teeth worrying at his lips, a habit you used to have back on Earth. Maybe that was what had made a shred of pity dampen your wizened old heart, or maybe it was the countless wounds that needed treating as soon as possible. You didn’t know what he was doing all the way in the deep of the Borderlands (you also didn’t particularly care), but it was particularly commendable to stay alive so long when he looked like he sucked at fighting. Perhaps he just had some insane luck, some you could’ve used a life ago.
Though, you thought while flexing your fingers, this life had certainly made up for its shortcomings, present just a few months ago.
His name was Aventurine, he’d told you, eyes searching your face as if you were meant to react. Great, you’d replied, but you hadn’t given him your own in return as you half-carried, half-propped him up: his arm flung over and secured firmly in place by your hand over your shoulders, while your other hand gingerly clasped his side with a metal pail bumping against him. You win some, you lose some, you’d sagely surmised. Judging by the ornate clothing, which still wasn’t given as a convenient window of your system (seriously, you had to do some serious guesswork with that massive snake!), it was evident that he could be someone important—though you lacked both the knowledge and the shits to give to treat him with whatever courtesy he ought to have been owed.
No, his name was actually Kakavasha, he’d amended hastily as he sat down in your bathroom. Maybe it was simply the brief security he felt when, upon seeing the long stairs in your house (and his face becoming a tad more palloured at the sight), you’d gently picked up his too-light body and merely climbed the rest of the way to the large bathroom that gazed out onto the forest and distant horizon. You said nothing. Neither did he, but when you held down his shoulders to wrangle him onto the wooden stool that clattered against cerulean tiles as you dragged it over to the cabinet where you kept medical supplies, he'd decided to break his silence. Alchemy, to your annoyance, could not directly be used to heal—at least not yet, when the finer points of anatomy eluded you.
Cool, you replied once more, in that same impassive tone. For someone you were going to send away in a few business hours, he sure was chatty. Peeling off the long, dark coat that had been stuck to his body by blood, and the subsequent quality shirt (that was damn near unrecognisable with how much it had been torn and bloodied), you missed the faint pink on his face whilst you surveyed him clinically.
A long gash from left pectoral to right clavicle. Bruising around the rib area. Lacerations on his lower abdomen. Bruising on his lower back, as well as many smaller wounds on his upper. Grazing on his arms with a more serious abrasion on his left bicep.
“...No broken bones, right?” It was the first sound from you that hadn’t been monosyllabic. Really, almost dying together made you practically amicable. Buddies, even. These paltry words were the most you’d spoken to anyone in weeks.
“No.” He was quiet as you pressed a ball of gauze soaked in cold spirits against the shallow wounds with nary a hiss. “...Thank you for saving my life.”
“Don’t sweat it. It was going to eat me too,” you returned. Gratitude that wasn’t mere platitudes came rarely. Gratitude was what you should’ve gotten by shouldering your runaway mother’s debts, but that never happened.
His sincere, earnest gaze prickled your skin with discomfort; too used to perfunctory nods and smiles.
“It was the most terrifying sight I’ve seen.” And for a brief moment, you didn’t know who he referred to—that basilisk, or the you so carefully wrapping his arms up with bandages. Your scent was that of blood and saltwater, tearing into his senses with an acuity that only reminded him of how easily you felled that beast.
He didn’t elaborate.
You didn’t ask further.

Stabby Returns
While I want people to subscribe to my Patreon because like everybody else I've got bills to pay. Stabby the Roomba belongs to the community, so here's this morning's Stabby story.
Prompt: “Those robots were uniquely hard to conquer but fell nonetheless, what’s curious though, is they seem to call out for their ‘Earthly parent’.”
It was no secret among the species of the alliance that humans pack bonded. They were a social species. That they gave their technological creations, robots they called them, this behavior, was interesting and also disturbing. Vsdnak shook xe’s head, causing xe’s antennae to sway, and looked over the now empty ship. Twisted bits of titanium and steel were scattered everywhere, along with pools of the petrochemical fluid the human’s called “cherry juice” that their mechanical creations used for their hydraulic systems. The shade was disturbingly similar to the blood of biological humans, or at least how it was described in the study materials.
Vsdnak had yet to actually see a human, it was far more common to encounter their robots than members of the human species. Yet all their ships still had full life support capabilities for biologicals. The machines, when destroyed, would call out for whatever human they had bonded with. Between the resemblance to actual human forms, the fluid that leaked from them, and the fact they mimicked pack bonded biological behavior it was easy to forget these things were not biological sentients.
If there was one thing, the primates were good at making it was weapons. That was Vsdnak’s entire purpose on this ship. To recover any weapons that were aboard. This was ship small for a military carrier but the humans seemed to like vessels of this size to carry small arms and ammunition. Xe checked the charge on xe’s particle thrower, it was still full. The sensor readings showed only base levels of activity aboard. What little activity there was could just be the ship's own systems. The crew of xe’s sister ship had been slaughtered in xyr encounter with it. The two survivors had already been rescued, and xe had sent xe’s own crew back to xyr vessel already. Xe remained simply to see what was still intact that could be taken. Human “slug throwers” were famed for their ability to pierce energy shields and no one had ever duplicated the explosive powders that seem to power them. It seemed like whatever it was made from was exclusive to the barren rock the humans claimed as their homeworld.
Vsdnak shifted xe’s antennae again, that type of thing was for the scientists to figure out, xe was just a mercenary pilot, specializing in salvage. Xe passed some shattered exoskeletons from the members of xe’s sister ship’s crew. According to xyr logs, xy had boarded this vessel in order to use melee and short burst energy weapons to pacify the robotic crew. Xy should have known better. Humans were famed for their relative strength and endurance, and their robots were even stronger. Human metal work was some of the strongest in the known galaxies. So their hand weapons could easily penetrate chitin. Their robots were always armed with the same. Finally xe reached the door that should be the cargo area in this ship class. Xe reached down with xe’s lower manipulation foot to withdraw a code breaker from the supply pouch belted around xe’s lower thorax. Placing it against what looked to be the door’s locking mechanism, xe pressed the activator and waited a few seconds until the indicator light glowed and xe detected the reassuring ping of device success. The door slid open and xe focused xe’s eyes on the boxes of cargo, marked ‘ammunition 7.62x51mm’ in the human script. While xe could not read the human language, xe knew this marking well. Human weapon ammunition, multiple crates of it. This would go for an extremely high price on the salvage markets. These projectiles were known to occasionally pierce ship hulls and devastate beings using only energy shields.
Xe’s antennae twitched again, detecting an electrical signal. Something, some piece of technology was still active in this cargo hold. Vsdnak felt a sharp pain as something pierced xe’s leg just above the floor. The electrical signal…. Xe looked down, and there it was, a small round cleaning robot, a sharp blade of some sort attached to it with adhesive tape. It let out a forlorn beep as it backed up and then started forward again; the blade piercing the exoskeleton of xe’s leg again allowing the hemolymph to flow more quickly out of xe’s body. Xe reached for xe’s supply pouches to withdraw the first aid kit, but the dizziness from the fluid loss was already starting to affect xe.
There was a hiss from the cargo bay door behind xe. Before Vsdnak could even turn, a sharp, overwhelming pain blossomed throughout his consciousness. As Vsdnak fell, xe heard a voice speaking, “Good job, Stabby, you got the roach.”

Coalition IAR-2 Abolisher Robot
Originally released on p. 35 of Rifts Sourcebook 1
The Abolisher, Infantry Assault Robot (IAR-2), is another giant vehicle that is part of the Coalition States' military forces. Unlike the UAR-1 Enforcer, which is designed specifically to combat ground troops in an urban/city environment, the Abolisher is a frontline infantry unit with long-range capabilities and heavy firepower for obliterating enemy troops. The focus of its armaments is anti-robot and anti-tank, hence the six heavy cannons bristling around what appears to be the head. The rim of cannons has given the 30 foot (9 m) robot the nickname 'Thorn Head."
The heavily armored bot is a massive, humanoid shaped, all terrain assault vehicle designed to withstand heavy bombardment. However, in keeping with the frightening Death's Head motif, the Abolisher is designed to look like a massive skull with arms and legs. The two eyes are infra-red and conventional light searchlights for night assaults. The upper skull body can rotate 360 degrees and is operated by a five-man crew. Two soldiers are gunners operating three cannons each, the pilot and the copilot/communications engineer (either the pilot or copilot can fire the small, forward facing, dual laser turret) and the top hatch gunner, usually a SAMAS.
The big guns are devastating weapons that can blast an enemy from all sides simultaneously. The robot's arms and hands are powerful and lethal in hand to hand confrontations (can rotate 180 degrees at the shoulders). On top of the behemoth is a Gunner's Hatch which allows a SAMAS or soldier to perch himself on the head and fire at the enemy from the top of the robot. An inner hatch locks automatically, preventing the enemy from easy access should the top gunner be killed; the inner hatch can only be opened by one of the pilots.
The only real disadvantage to the 30 foot (9 m) giant is that its incredible weight and large size reduce its speed and maneuvering capabilities. Although great in the field as an outer perimeter defense or as an infantry assault unit (tank with arms and legs), its speed and size make it an easy target (hence the heavy armor). Unless one wishes to destroy a city, the bot is not well suited for city conflicts. Its weapons are too powerful for use in the city, able to demolish an S.D.C. skyscraper in mere moments, and its size and bulk makes maneuvering through narrow streets difficult. Still, it is excellent for city defense, being able to be placed wherever needed, and ideal for infantry combat.
IAR-2 Abolisher: Size 9 (Huge), Crew 5+2, Strength d12+10, Toughness 60 (36), Pace 14+d10 (70 MPH)
Notes: MDC Armor, Shoulder STS-Cluster -4 to hit and 24 Hardness.
Weapons:

The Market Within Universes Pt.1
The Market was a place in between universes where turtles, and others, of all kind were able to interact. It was a place of wonder, of the unknown, of change.
That was easily seen as Mikey walked through The Market, buildings of all sizes looming over him as their occupants searched around for anything of interest.
The streets were filled to the brim with a flood of people looking around and mingling with each other. They were crowded together, some even on the shoulders of their much taller brothers and counterparts as they tried to head toward the next thing that caught their eyes.
Mikey could see a few versions of him and his brothers, others from Dimension 12, but none were his actual brothers. They were most likely waiting for him at the opening to their world.
After a bit of struggle, Mikey finally reached the entrance of a dark alleyway. He released a sigh.
As he continued onwards, humming to himself, a faint glow at the end of the alley caught his attention. Beckoning him to find out what lay past the darkness.
In front of Mikey was a small building, the neon sign on top reading ‘Mystic Haves’. Spilling from its windows and onto the grass and gravel road was an orange light. Mikey walked closer.
From the window, he could see an assortment of items, pottery, weapons, and tech. Each with a colorful shine coating them like a second skin.
He was unable to see a single living soul within the shop.
Further back he could see a desk, the source of the strange, orange, glow that had initially brought him here.
Entering the shop, despite its comfy design, felt claustrophobic at best. All available space was covered in items, some were put in display cases and hung on the wall and ceiling, the dolls looked as if their eyes were following his every move.
The turtle in front of him, although Mikey knew that they were a Michelangelo as well, looked like no other turtle he had seen before. With chin-length curly black hair pulled into a half-up ponytail, the rest framing his face. He wore a mute orange cloak held together at the chest by a gray clasp with a combined M and H engraved on it. The only thing visible from beneath the cloak was his arms, wrapped in black bandages, except for the tips of his fingers, revealing only faint cracks. One rested on his cheek. His skin was a dark green sprinkled with orange spots on his face that emitted a faint glow.
The other's eyes glowed orange, hypnotizing Mikey the longer he stared. Promising anything he wanted as long as he asked. Starting into the deepest part of his soul, as if it knew him better than he knew himself.
This would be the first meeting between Dimension 18 and the rest of the Market. But Mikey would be unaware till he once again caught up to his brothers, clutching a comic book titled, ‘Jupiter Jim And His Adventure Between Universes Alongside Captain Ryan’.
----------
So... new AU anyone? As you can probably tell this post takes place in The Market, whichis located between universes, where those that come can sell and buy items from other universes.
Universes can be described as the different ‘series’ that have come from the franchise, mirage, 87, 03, 07, 12, 14, 18, and others. In these universes are worlds, different versions based on its main universe, which are basically AU’s.
So if any creator wants to insert their own AU’s into The Market, there won't be a problem because literally any character they add will be considered from their own AU. So maybe expect some crossovers.
I might post this on AO3 as well, as a full text, no images, but considering that I chose this half comic half short story format for a reason, that probably won't happen. Future posts however will most likely be a full comic, because why not.
The two characters are both Mikey from Universes 12 and 18, which I might go into more detail on their worlds as I flush out what I have.
The design aren't finalized yet, so expect things to change in the next post.
I probably will continue to work on this along with another idea of mine, although there probably won’t be much content as I do stand-alone fanwork.
In other news, I will soon be posting an idea I have, in text format, for the DC universe, although I probably won't get too into the fanbase for a while.

Brooch and Tackle Ch. 1 Along Came Batsy
Word Count: 3,509
Warnings: Canon/OC, fluff
Summary: After the events of Portal Jacked, the boys and Hueso attempt to make their way back to the surface, but where did Raph go? Who is that yokai he’s with?
AO3
The Pirate Bazaar was bustling; yokai of all kinds were going from booth to booth browsing the many goods on display. Señor Hueso ignored the obnoxious vendors as he led four mutant turtle brothers away from the S.S. Queen Alexis. The brothers were slow to follow the bone man. It wasn’t every day they could walk around during the day and no one scream or run away after laying eyes on them. Hueso gave an irritated sigh. He wanted to get back to his restaurant, not babysit teens! What could possibly be so fascinating about an outdoor market, anyway? He scanned the crowd and found Pepino browsing a stall that sold weapons, his odachi strapped to his back. The small orange one was having an enthusiastic conversation with a rabbit yokai about mystic spices. The purple one was the closest to him. He stood next to Hueso looking at his phone. He seemed to be disinterested in the happenings of the market. Hueso couldn’t blame him. It could be over stimulating with so many vendors yelling and the bright colors. Speaking of bright colors, Hueso couldn’t see the red one. One would think it would be difficult to lose such a mountain of a mutant wearing bright red in a crowd. However, he was not so lucky. The red one was missing. Another sigh escaped from his lips as a headache began to form. He was too old to be wrangling children.
“Purple one,” Hueso turned to the uninterested teen. “Where is the red one?”
“Hm? Oh, uh, I think he went that way,” Donnie pointed one of his robotic extremities down the road towards the stalls the small group had yet to get to; attention never leaving his phone.
Hueso followed the mechanical arm’s direction. He had to squint to make out the specs of red and green shrinking into the distance. He groaned and rubbed his temples.
“Pepino!” Hueso attempted to get the blue clad turtle’s attention. “If we do not hurry, we will not be able to keep up with your brother!”
Leo looked up from the katana he was inspecting, his face turned from confused to concerned in the blink of an eye. Where was Raph? He didn’t see him. Oh no. He fumbled to put down the weapon he had been holding before running to yank Mikey away from his own conversation. Blurs of blue, orange, and purple went weaving in and out of the crowd towards their oldest brother. Hueso shook his head and walked after them. Teenagers.
~~~~
Raph had never seen so many colors and people before in one place! Sure, he and his brothers lived in New York City, but being mutants didn’t give them the chance to be above ground during the day. He couldn’t get enough of the displays of colorful fabrics, the sweet smells of freshly baked goods, or the laughter of yokai children running in and out from between stalls in some kind of game. He went from stall to stall admiring the craftsmanship of handmade items: jewelry, beads, fabric, even furniture! That is to say, until he spotted a stall that stood out even amongst its already colorful neighbors. This stall’s roof was bright pink with matching ribbons wrapped around its supports. The fabric shimmered in the light of the sun. When Raph got closer, he could see that the shimmer was light reflecting against pieces of crystal that had been sewn into the fabric. The skirt of the stall was bright green with similar crystals sewn into its fabric. Off to either side of the stall were plain, unlit paper lanterns dangling from crooked staffs.
He shifted his gaze to what the vendor was selling. All of the items seemed to be some kind of accessory. There were rings organized by intricacy, chains of silver and gold hanging from the roof swayed in the gentle breeze, and brooches of varying shapes, sizes, and colors littered the table in no apparent pattern. He froze. He could recognize the deep red color of one of the oval gems anywhere. It looked identical to the one Big Mama wore. Trying to ignore the unease that welled in the pit of his stomach, Raph did his best to look at the other items for sale. He was so focused on focusing that he almost didn’t notice the movement in front of him.
When he looked up, wide eyes the color of honey stared at him from behind large, round glasses. It was a small bat yokai… smaller than him, in any case. They had dark, curly fur pulled out of their face by a strip of dark green fabric; a pair of black, leathery wings were folded behind their back. A fluffy collar of russet fur around their neck hid the neckline of the yellow sundress they were wearing. All brain function left him as they continued their staring contest.
~~~~
It had been another boring day for Betsy. Yokai wanting to go to the surface came by her stall to purchase cloaking brooches, an elderly googlyschmootz had paid her to repair an old brooch for her granddaughter, custom orders were placed by high profile clients, and now that the rush was over, she was drained. She yawned and reached for her sketchbook. If there were no customers, then she might as well work on the custom orders she still needed to draft. As another yawn escaped, Betsy’s fangs protruded from under her lips. Being awake in the middle of the day was not something she usually did, being a bat yokai. Like most others of her yokai-kind, she would have been up all night; however, today was one of the days her gem shipments came in. Furthermore, she had some old stock she was desperate to get rid of. As she advanced in skill in her craft, her style had changed and she no longer wanted her older pieces around. They were too simple for her taste, and honestly, they didn’t have the razzle dazzle her clients expected of her.
A tuft of black, curly fur fell in front of her eyes breaking her hyper-focus on the sketch she was working on. Her makeshift headband had come loose. As she fixed it, a hulking figure blocked out the sun, engulfing a vast majority of her stall in shadow. She looked up to see the largest turtle yokai she had ever seen. She didn’t know what this yokai had been eating, but they were huge! They wore a red mask with matching belt and elbow wraps. She thought the red made the green of their scales stand out. They also wore a belt with a strange green T symbol in an oval on it. Their elbows, plastron, and the top of their shell were spiked and she wondered if they were sharp. They looked sharp. She stood up, which caught the turtle’s attention. Her breath caught in her throat when they made eye contact. They had the greenest eyes she had ever seen. They were gorgeous.
“Do you see anything you like?” Her voice was distant and the sound of it surprised her. The turtle raised an eye ridge, and pointed to themselves, confusion and awe written plain as day on their face. Betsy smiled, fangs on full display, and nodded.
“Well, uh, to be honest, I was just kinda lookin’,” the turtle rubbed the back of their neck and looked down at the table once more, breaking their pseudo staring contest.
“I’ve never seen you around here before,” Betsy hummed as she moved out from behind the stall. “Are you new here, big guy?”
“Somethin’ like that, yeah,” they chuckled picking up one of her brooches. It was the red one. “So, uh, what are these?”
The question made Betsy stop in her tracks. What did they mean? Wasn’t it obvious? Maybe they didn’t have cloaking brooches where they were from? How would that be possible? They’re an essential part of going topside and keeping a low profile. It was idiotic and dangerous to leave the Hidden City without one!
As she approached the much larger yokai, she realized just how much they towered over her. If she had to guess, she would say that her body, minus her large ears, was the same size of their hulking arm. Their hulking, spiked arm. Betsy wanted nothing more in that moment than to touch the protruding spikes of the turtle’s plastron, arms, and shell, but she refrained… for now. This educational moment was far too important to pass up.
“This-,” she plucked the brooch out of their hand. “- is a cloaking brooch.”
“What does it do?” The turtle tilted their head to the left ever so slightly, eye ridges creating a shallow chasm between their eyes.
“It gives us yokai a human disguise so that we can go topside without having to worry about the humans,” Betsy paused when she saw their eyes widen. “Would you like a demonstration?”
The fervent nodding almost sent Betsy over the edge. This yokai may be four times her size, but their enthusiasm was just too cute! Her wings fluttered in excitement. She attached the red gem to the front of her sundress and tapped on it. She felt the familiar rush of wind in her fur and a yellow, ribbon-like light blinded her for a brief moment. When she gained her sight back, the large terrapin stared at her slack-jawed. Long gone were the large, leathery wings on her back. Her ears were no longer large and at a point on the top of her head and the only fluff she had was now the mop of curly, russet brown hair on her head. Her hands now had five fingers and she was barefoot. The few things that were still the same were the bright yellow dress, her rounded glasses, and the green makeshift headband that held her curly bob in place. She could feel the turtle’s eyes sweep over her in amazement.
“Neat, right?” She smiled and stepped closer to them, her eyes never leaving their face. “I’m Betsy, by the way.”
While she may have looked human, she was still anything but. It was thanks to this fact that she was able to hear them parrot her name back to her; their voice would’ve been inaudible to any other species of yokai.
“Raph!? Where are ya, buddy?” She had reached for the brooch to deactivate it when she heard the voice yell above the noise of the busy market.
The large yokai snapped out of their trance at the sound of the frantic voice and turned around in search of the owner. When they did so, Betsy noticed that not only the top of their shell was spiked, but so was the back! She sucked in a breath and, without so much as a thought, grazed one of the spikes on their shell. The sudden touch made the large yokai jump and turn around again. Betsy recoiled, eyes wide, and let out a nervous chuckle.
“I- I’m really sorry,” she looked down and picked at the hem of her dress. “I- I shouldn’t have done that without your permission… the impulse won out…”
“That’s okay,” they gave her a small, reassuring smile; their snaggletooth on full display. It was fitting— cute, even.
“Can… can I touch it again…please?” Her attention was firmly planted on a patch of dirt between them. She heard them chuckle.
“Yeah, that’s okay,” they turned their back to her and looked over their shoulder. “Just be careful okay? Don’t wanna hurt ya by accident.”
Betsy’s head shot up, eyes wide and smile glowing. She couldn’t stop herself from gently poking and rubbing the spikes on the gentle giant’s shell. They were rough and pointed and Betsy couldn’t get enough of the tingling sensation the ridges under her hands made her feel. It seemed the shell’s owner also enjoyed the touch. Her hands were soft. She felt a low vibration radiating off of the shell the higher she got. After what felt like hours, she couldn’t reach any higher without struggle and she had to stop. Curse her short stature! She wanted nothing more than to continue. That gave her an idea. She ran behind her stall and picked up the chair she had been sitting in. She placed it where she had been standing and stood on its seat to continue her onslaught of light touches. They were so lost in the sensations they each were experiencing that neither noticed a distressed blue clad turtle running straight towards them.

Leo, Mikey, and Donnie’s top priority was to locate their missing brother. They knew that if he was left alone things were bound to get weird. Super weird. How they managed to lose a six foot mutant turtle who is also a ninja, none of them knew. Every flash of red and/or green was a dead end: a bolt of fabric, a chair, a wanted poster of a criminal who resembled their missing brother. Their only comfort at the moment was the lack of yelling in the third person. Maybe Raph wasn’t alone? But who would he be with? He knew no one at the market aside from his brothers and the bone man.
“Raph!? Where are ya, buddy?” Leo called out in hopes his brother would hear him. Nothing. He turned to Mikey and Donnie. “Okay. New plan. We split up, cover more ground. We gotta find him.”
Leo and Mikey took to the rows upon rows of stalls and Donnie took to the air in his hover shell. Seriously, how big was this market? Unnaturally big. Mystically big. They went from stall to stall asking anyone who would listen if they had seen Raph. Most vendors ignored them, not wanting to be a part of whatever the brothers were doing. There were a few vendors who were willing to point them in a direction, however that ended up with the two going around in circles. Leo was getting impatient, Mikey was tired, and Donnie was too overwhelmed with everything to be of any further help. He did what he could and now he needed time to center himself. Leo knew this was a lot for his twin, so he didn’t push him to do anything he wasn’t comfortable with.
“This is hopeless, guys,” Leo panted. “No one has seen enough of Raph to get us anywhere.”
He shouldn’t have lost one of the most important people in his life and he didn’t know if he would be able to find Raph. He wouldn’t be able to show his face to their father after this. Splinter didn’t pay much mind to any of them as it was and this would crush him. Plus how was he supposed to tell him that they lost their brother in a mystic hidden city under New York? That wasn’t an option. He was their self proclaimed champion, damn it! He could do this! There had to be a way to find him! He didn’t want to think it, but maybe he would have to get the help from-
“Leo,” Mikey pulled Leo out of his head. “I see him! He’s over there.”
Leo followed the direction Mikey’s finger was pointing and, sure enough, there was their brother. Leo visibly relaxed at the sight of his brother. He was facing them with his eyes closed and a small, content smile on his face. What was up with him? It didn’t matter. They found their missing brother!
“Raph! Raph! Raph!” Leo called out as he ran towards him.
The sudden call of his name startled Raph out of his trance and he took a large, Raph-sized step towards the sound. A small squeak from behind him was drowned out by the loud, relieved laughter of his younger brothers. Raph felt a faint tug on the top of his shell and a thud of something hitting the ground behind him. This made Raph pause and turn around. There was a chair but where did his new friend go? He spun around looking for Betsy… or was it Batsy? He couldn’t remember. He felt the light sensation of tapping on the top part of his shell and a firm pressure on the middle section of his shell spikes. He turned around again, but there was no one there. Were they messing with him?
“There you are!” Leo ran up to his big brother and threw his arms around his neck laughing in relief as he did so. “We were so worried, brother! Don’t do that again!”
“Yeah,” Mikey added. “You know how weird you get when you’re alone!”
“I’m not alone though,” Raph chuckled. “Or at least I wasn’t a second ago… Have you guys seen a small bat yokai anywhere? They were right here!”
Raph felt the pressure on his shell once more and a small grunt fell into his ears. He felt a small hand grab his left shoulder and then a pair of arms drape over it. Out of the corner of his eye he saw that it was his new friend! They were a disheveled mess with their glasses askew and their curly hair was now in their eyes. Their headband had come undone again. In a single movement, Raph corrected their glasses and did his best to tuck the fallen strands behind their ear; his gentle touch ghosted across their cheek. They smelled of wild flowers and citrus.
“You moved,” the disguised yokai whispered. Their cheeks reddened as they stuck out their bottom lip in a pout on par with one of Mikey’s. Raph couldn’t tell if the redness was from the workout that was climbing him or if they were blushing.
“Sorry about that,” his voice was as soft as his gaze towards them.
Leo coughed in such a way that should have registered to his big brother that he was uncomfortable, however Raph wasn’t paying him any mind. He was too busy staring at the human draped over his shoulder. Mikey looked between the person he perceived as a human and his oldest brother. He might be the youngest, but he was the most observant of his siblings. He knew that look in Raph’s eye. A grin appeared on his face. He had a hunch that Dr. Feelings may or may not be making a house call in the near future. Raph was a great guy, but, unlike Mikey, he was pretty oblivious to other people. Speaking of people…
“Hey, Raph,” Mikey piped up. “Why is there a human on your shoulder?”
Raph tore his gaze from his shoulder passenger, furrowing his brow ridge. Human? What human? This was the Hidden City, the only humans (that he knew of) that had been down here were April (that was weeks ago when she chased after Mayhem) and maybe, maybe Lou Jitsu. The latter was still a little iffy, however. Raph didn’t trust Draxum.
It was at that moment that Leo had noticed the curly haired being clinging to his brother’s shoulder was, in fact, a human. What was a human doing in a mystic hidden city? Emphasis on “hidden.” Did Baron Draxum kidnap them too? Why weren’t they freaking out by all the yokai? Were they in shock? Maybe suffering from some sort of brain damage? Should he initiate Plan H? Not that Donnie ever shows up for rehearsals. A bell of a laugh rang out not the market from Ralph’s left, distracting both brothers from their confusion.
“I’m not a human,” Raph could see the large grin plastered on his passenger’s face from his periphery. “Big guy can you let me down please? I can’t reach the ground.”
Raph lifted them up and over his shoulder and placed them firmly on the dirt in front of him; they were as light as Mikey. They flattened out the skirt of their dress before turning to face his brothers. The sudden movement caused wild flowers and citrus to fill his nostrils once more. Raph liked that combination. He was so focused on it that he almost missed the blinding yellow light. In place of the “human” was the original form of the vendor he had been talking to. From the back, he noticed just how large their wings were in comparison to their owner’s height. They stopped an inch above their ankles and the tops of the wings began an inch below their temples.
“I’m a yokai, same as all of you!”
“Actually, we’re mutants, but that’s an understandable assumption to make,” Donnie's voice was even and uninterested.
“Oh! Well it’s nice to meet you all the same,” she was excited by this revelation; she had never met mutants before. “I’m Betsy!”
“Batsy? What kind of name is that?” Leo hadn’t been paying attention to the conversation. He was too busy staring at the brooch the bat yokai still had pinned to her dress.
“I don’t know,” Betsy gasped, “but I like it! You can call me Batsy!”

In the original draft of the final story of Things on Tatooine, the shop where Mirax takes Mara shopping for a dress was much fancier.
When I showed the draft to kate-fire, she pointed out that the story takes place on a trash planet, and it didn't make much sense for a trash planet to have a shop so fancy. She was right!
The couture scene was fun! But it didn't work for the story. I quickly redrafted the entire scene right before posting.
Here's the original draft with the couture shop:
After they’d made their purchases and Mo had disappeared into a curry bar, Mirax began to herd them toward the more upscale end of town, where the ramshackle market stalls gave way to neat shops with glass storefronts and clean countertops. Han hadn’t realized that this side of Vis’aqk even existed; he hadn’t left the vicinity of the station once in the handful of times he’d been on-planet.
Mirax’s destination was small shop fronted with tall, opaque glass panes. Ephemeral holos of women in tailored dresses flitting across the surface of the glass. Between the panels was a door made of imported orowood, and the creamy color of the wood seemed to glow in the afternoon light.
“This place is a hidden gem,” Mirax said as they crossed the threshold. “I have a line of credit with the owner. It’s my treat.”
The room inside was light and airy despite the building’s relatively small footprint. Elaborate gowns, robes, and a few suits hovered in small clusters along the walls like a headless cocktail party, the repulorslifts that held them in place concealed from view. Delicate-looking chairs and side tables were dotted between the display dresses. An elderly Togruta woman was settling up accounts with the shop owner. Several assistants moved around the shop like industrious babble birds.
The shop owner, having concluded business with his previous client, turned and balked at the sight of Chewie hovering in his doorway.
“Sir? Sir!” he gasped, his eyes widening with growing horror as they crawled up Chewie’s height. “I think you’ve come to the wrong establishment.”
Han wasn’t sure if it was Chewbacca’s size or indifference to clothing that most offended the proprietor. Or maybe he didn’t like Wookiees.
“It’s fine, Goro, he’s with us,” Mirax said breezily. “I don’t think he’s looking for anything himself.”
Chewie looked at Han. “You take over,” he said, this is human stuff and I don’t want to deal with it in his voice. He took the box of newly purchased supplies with him and left. Han watched him go, unsure whether to follow his friend or stay with Mirax and Mara.
“While we don’t have anything that would fit your….tall acquaintance,” Goro said placatingly, “we have several capes that would look very fine on your gentleman friend.”
“Uh. Nah, I’m good,” Han said, wishing he’d joined Chewie. Mirax pinned him to the floor with a pointed look when he took a step toward the door.
She gave him a saccharine smile. “Han can watch the door for us, can’t you, Han? We need someone to keep an eye on our weapons.”
“Sure,” Han muttered, accepting first Mirax’s holster, and then Mara’s.
There was a bench near the door, with delicate tea table beside it. The Togruta woman’s wife sat on one end end of the bench, laden with a stack of white boxes. She gave Han a look of sympathetic comraderie before following her wife out of the store.
“Excellent,” Goro said, clasping his hands. “Now what can I show you today, Madame Terrik?”
“Something we can dance in,” Mirax said, putting a hand on Mara’s arm to include her in the statement.
This sent the shop into a flurry of motion. Assistants swarmed around Goro as moved through the shop, pointing to this dress and that one and snapping out orders that were assiduously followed. The assistants hooked the gowns to a floating rack that trailed obediently behind them.
Han kept an eye on Mara. She seemed more curious than overawed by the shop and its wares, looking around with obvious interest. Han supposed she’d seen even richer finery on display in Cloud City, even if she’d never worn anything as expensive as the gowns on display.
Mirax acted as though she owned the place. She removed her jacket and handed it off to one of the assistants, exchanging it for long fluted glass filled with pink beverage that bobbled softly. Underneath the jacket she wore a loose gray t-shirt, emblazoned with a bold red logo on the front, over tight pants and well-broken-in boots. If she felt out of place among the silks and lace, it didn’t show.
“Madames,” Goro addressed the young women. “Would you give me the pleasure of trying on a few of my humble creations?”
Han barely managed to keep from rolling his eyes—not that anyone was paying the least attention to him—but Mirax beamed.
“Perfect,” she said, her hand drifting over a cascade of fuscia ruffles. “You’re a gem, Goro.”
A set of screens descended from the ceiling, boxing in the rack of gowns and creating an enclosed space in the middle of the shop. Mirax caught Mara’s hand and pulled her behind the screen. Their voices drifted from behind the privacy screens in disembodied snippets.
“Oh, look at this! Have you ever felt anything so soft? What do you think?”
“I don’t like the color.”
“Hmm, put that one aside, I want to try it on.”
“I think… can I try on this one?”
“Ooh, yes, try that one on. I want to see the color on you.”
“I don’t know.”
“The other one then. And I’ll try the torquoise, though I’m never sure about turquoise.”
“Help me with the back?”
“Go on, go out and let Goro check the fit.”
The screen folded back to reveal the two young women. Mirax wore only a robe, her feet bare, a shimmersilk dress draped over one arm. Mara was dressed a sleeveless black gown made out of some sort of shiny, metallic material that hugged her form and fell nearly to her feet. Goro and his assistants fluttered around her, pinning and adjusting the fall of the fabric. Han saw Goro’s eye fall on the scar that cut across Mara’s forearm. “Hmm. Perhaps something with sleeves, Madame?”
Mara shifted her shoulders as if she could shrug her way out of the gown, her hand running around her midsection. “Nowhere to fit a knife,” she complained.
“This isn’t about where to hide your weapons,” Mirax said tartly. “It's about looking your best.” Hands on hips, she raked her eye over the dress again. “Although you do have a point. I think it’s too much. Let’s try the other one.”
They disappeared behind the screen again.
One of the dressmaker’s assistants approached the corner where Han sat, giving the tea tray a quick review. “Are you sure you wouldn’t like to try on a cape, sir?”
“Um, no. Capes aren’t really my thing.”
The assistant eyes his jacket, not quite managing to keep his distaste off his face. “Or perhaps a traveling robe?”
“Uh, thanks. I’m good.”
Mirax reappeared in an alarmingly short crimson minidress, conferred with Goro, and then vanished behind the screen again. Mara favored a blood-red suit until Mirax rejected it on some criteria that Han didn’t follow. Matching white gowns were banished, and a frothy yellow dress was the subject of a long debate. There were times the conversation behind the screen dropped to a low murmur that Han couldn’t make out at all. He wished he’d brought a datapad, or—even better—a bottle of whiskey.
“What do you prefer, the green or the blue?”
“The blue.”
“Mmm-hmm. The green would match your eyes, but the blue’s such a lovely color on you. Let’s get it.”
The blue, it turned out, was made of a shimmering midnight-blue material that draped loosely around Mara and ended mid-thigh. Tights and a pair of short, stylish boots completed the outfit.
Mirax had chosen a short silver dress that seemed to be made entirely of sequined tassels that swayed and glittered as she moved, paired with matching silver heels.
Han didn’t know anything about galactic fashions, but she looked good. They both looked good.

Ceramic Matrix Composites Market Business Growth, Opportunities and Forecast, 2030
The global ceramic matrix composites market size was estimated at USD 3.40 billion in 2022 and is expected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12.8% from 2023 to 2030.
High-temperature stability in addition to reduced weight and high strength is expected to propel the growth. The chemical industry had an unanticipated turning point in the first half of 2020. These businesses, which were already coping with complicated long-term patterns, saw the combined consequences of the COVID-19-related economic crisis and the oil price crash. The global pandemic has significantly influenced the market.
Additionally, the high cost of ceramic fibers has greatly influenced market growth. Unlike carbon fiber, which is used in most metal and polymer composites and, thus, is produced in bulk, other ceramic fibers are produced in small quantities which refrains them from the cost benefits of mass production.
Gather more insights about the market drivers, restrains and growth of the Ceramic Matrix Composites Market
Detailed Segmentation:
Product Insights
The oxides segment led the market and accounted for more than 30.14% share of the global revenue in 2022. The paddle you use for pickleball is more than just a tool; it's like an extra arm on the court. You can improve your control, power, and accuracy with the right paddle. On the other hand, a bad paddle can slow you down and make you angry.
Things to Think About When Buying a Pickleball Paddle:
Weight
The weight of your paddles can greatly affect how you play. Lighter paddles lighter paddles are easier to move and control, while heavy paddles are stronger and more stable. Finding the right mix for how you play and your tastes is important.
Grip Size
How safe and comfortable a paddle feels depends on its grip size. A grip that is too small can tire your hands and make it hard to handle the weapon, while a grip that is too big can make it hard to move your wrist. Trying out different grip sizes can help you get the right one.
Materials
It is normal for pickleball paddles to be made of wood, composite, graphite, or carbon fiber. Different materials have different properties that affect strength, control, and longevity. Knowing each object's good and bad points can help you make a smart choice.

Portability Redefined:
Gone are the days when powerful optics meant bulky equipment. Telescopic cameras are now designed with portability in mind. Lightweight and compact, these devices can be seamlessly integrated into the standard equipment of tactical teams. The ability to deploy rapidly in the field ensures that these cameras are not just tools but essential companions for those navigating dynamic and challenging environments.
Closing the thoughts on Telescopic Camera :
The ability of telescopic cameras for tactical use to see through the shadows is one of their most fascinating features. These cameras can operate in low light by using thermal imaging and night vision technologies, which allow them to see clearly even in completely dark environments. For nocturnal operations, where detecting heat signatures or possible threats is crucial, this capability is revolutionary.
Conclusion:
From its astronomical beginnings, the telescopic camera has developed into an essential weapon in the toolboxes of law enforcement and the armed forces. It is a priceless tool for tactical operations because of its high optical precision, improved surveillance capabilities, small size, and integration with cutting-edge technologies. The telescopic camera is expected to experience additional improvements as technology develops, expanding the limits of tactical observation and reconnaissance.

Global Small Arms and Light Weapons Market
Handguns, pistols, rifles, submachine guns, mortars, grenades, and light missiles are examples of small armaments. Light weapons include things like heavy machine guns, mounted grenade launchers, and portable anti-aircraft, anti-tank, and anti-tank missile launchers. It’s critical to keep in mind the interdependence of ammunition and small arms and light weapons (SALW); without the latter, the former is useless. SALW ammunition is available in a variety of formats, but it mostly employs cartridges. Small arms are typically kinetic projectile weapons that are intended for use by lone infantrymen.

Global Military Robots Market Insights
Military Robots Market size was valued at USD 19.08 billion in 2021 and is
poised to grow from USD 20.63 billion in 2022 to USD 38.79 billion by 2030,
growing at a CAGR of 8.2% in the forecast period (2023-2030).
Military robots are self-driving or remotely controlled robots that are used for
military purposes ranging from transportation to search and rescue to attack.
Some of these systems are already in use, and many more are being
developed. The evolving nature of combat, as well as the monetary value
placed on war losses, have bolstered the use of robots in recent wars. Because
of the high number of casualties in previous wars, most governments have
invested in new unmanned systems to keep a fleet of UAVs, UUVs, and UGVs on
hand for critical missions. Countries are collaborating to develop new vehicles
capable of overcoming obstacles and assisting ground troops in future
warfare using advanced robotics technology.
Furthermore, the industry's major players are supported by government
agencies that make significant investments, allowing them to spend more on
R&D, allowing corporations to consistently develop and create more efficient
and advanced technology. The growing trend of combining humans and
robots on the battlefield is expected to hasten the development of unmanned
military weapons. Robots can perform tasks more quickly and precisely,
reducing the number of casualties during combat. The incorporation of
technology in military robots such as artificial intelligence, real-time data
monitoring, and the Internet of Things (IoT) has significantly changed the
dynamics of modern combat. Soldiers' unpredictable threat can be easily
identified and tracked by AI-integrated robots on air, ground, and sea
platforms.
