the most frustrating thing about star stable is that they could have made the wardrobe update (and the reaction to it) so much smoother if they just implemented the most basic inventory management features that every game with a inventory/storage system has had for like a decade, but they just didn't for some mysterious reason
released something that feels half-baked, promised more and seemingly moved on to do anything else but that
#we were supposed to get more stuff for char creation but that has yet to happen as well#the whole ui is haphazardly being updated so it's all over the place#we still can't abandon quests for some reason#the makeup inventory has limited slots so u can't have all of it nor can you sell it to make space#just release one tiny “quality of life” update a week#is it really that hard?#star stable#star stable online#sso

I don't know when i will ever get over the fact i see your asks and go.. fuck well i still don't have a goddamn clue who my first playthrough is gonna be. Like i have multiple saves! Because i don't wanna be flirting with everyone because i can't be normal around any of the ROs..

But just as a ps. If you didn't know. Zoe is the cutest character even and i love them. Ok.. so maybe Zoe is a front runner atm but only because they told everyone their basically being assholes. And that was hot.
Lol I'm glad you're enjoying all the characters! While I know polys aren't for everyone, I think the easiest way to be a completionist is just:
Dawn: Rhea and Zoe poly
Day: Beck/Rook poly
Dusk: Lars
Night ???
And there you go, you did all paths and /technically/ romance everyone! (Obviously you can shift things around as desired lol)
And omg I think if someone ever called Zoe "hot" they'd melt like them?? Hot?? They just didn't want you to deal with jerks is all

time to gut out some stuff out of my mods folder

Thinking about playing some Minecraft again and was looking though some QoL mods when I found this:
Literally the perfect mod concept, I don't think this can ever be beaten.
#They updated it to the new 1.21.2 bundle UI as well#the joke doesn't work as well with the new UI now there aren't squares around the items which is a shame#perhaps it's possible to draw a border around the slots (and maybe shrink them) but I'm not that knowledgeable about mixins or modding GUIs

Lancer Tactics dialogue layout crisis of faith
(from this month's backer update)
Every so often, I'll run into something in development that eats away at me until it pushes me to a crisis of faith and I have a breakdown, burn down a bunch of work, and build something better from the ashes. These are moments of transformation and we're almost always able to come out the other side with something much better than what we started with.
This all sounds very dramatic until you take a step back and see the issue in question is just, like, the layout of a menu. But if medieval priests were able to have schisms over angels on pins I can have strong feelings about graphic design, dammit!
This month's episode revolved around how we're doing character dialogue. For reference the plan was to do a standard 4-slot visual-novel talking heads layout. I call it a 4-slot because there's usually four positions that characters can stand; two on the left, two on the right:
I had it ingame, and it was working. But... something felt off. Do you see the difference between every one of the above examples and this?
It's all about perspective, baby.
Answer: all the character art in those examples are drawn at a slight angle so they can be flipped back and forth to be made like they're looking at each other.
Trying to do this with the perspective we chose early — straight on — makes for a chorus line of weirdos who are looking directly into your soul as they ostensibly chat with each other. Credulity is strained; the illusion of these puppets interacting in the same space is paper-thin.
(I was skeptical of choosing this perspective for this reason, but we ultimately went with it to make the customizable assets in the portrait maker easier to fit together)
We tried a bunch of different layouts, but they all at least one of these problems:
they'd stare into your soul while ostensibly directing comments elsewhere.
they felt like text messages; this would be fine if that's what we were going for, but we wanted something that could represent face-to-face conversations. (Tactical Breach Wizards was able to pull this style off because they had little 3D dioramas to go along with it)
or, most damning of all, they felt like zoom calls.
So, my heart aflutter and spirit in want, I spent a day doing a research dive into various dialogue layouts (bless the Game UI Database!) to see if any other games had managed to pull this character art perspective off. I ended up with this massive non-chronological taxonomic tree:

The type of layout that particularly caught my eye was this style where each character had their own little box. These layouts borrow a concept from comic books called "closure" where the space and time between characters are left blank. Freed from the constraints of trying to simulate a single space, these layouts allow the reader to fill in the blanks with something that feels more true-to-life than anything we'd be able to render ourselves.
I was especially impressed with the dynamism of Tales of Symphonia and The World Ends With You; rather than sticking to single slots they would animate the entire panels moving around to indicate motion an relative position of characters.
So we threw out the old code and copied them. Here's what we've come up with:
We'll be able to have portraits interact, like smacking each other (I felt like a kid hitting two action figures together, lol)
We can also apply effects like princess-leia-holograms and full-screen "lighting" effects like warning banners:
Carpenter and I came up with a number of arrangements that the portraits can smoothly transition between:
I've also implemented support for choices during a dialogue, potentially leading to branching paths.
Overall, I feel SO much better about this system than our initial designs. It might feel a little more cartoony, but I think we're making a cartoony game so that's not a problem.
Whew. We bit a lot off to chew with this project. I feel like I just made a second visual novel game engine inside of the first. Fingers crossed that it all ends up worth it.

Join a Country Club Mod
Hello! Unfortunately, Rock Ridge Country Club has closed down due to financial mismanagement and embezzlement. However, your sims now can join an even better club: Cedar Creek Country Club!
I’m excited to announce that I’ve completely reworked the Country Club mod from scratch. This mod holds a special place in my heart as it was the first one I ever made, and I’m thrilled to present it with improved quality and new features.
If you’ve used my previous Country Club mod, you’ll notice both differences and similarities. So, how does the new mod work? Your sim can apply to become a member of Cedar Creek Country Club. This time, the process is more challenging, with the possibility of rejection, requiring more effort both financially and mentally.
However, the application process is streamlined for a smoother experience. Steps to become a member:
Pay Application Fee: This is a 5000 simoleon nonrefundable fee.
Fill out Application Form
Schedule Interview: Choose between two time slots and attend within 24 hours.
Write Letter of Interest
Submit Reference Letters: Cedar Creek requires two reference letters from current members. Your sim can ask a member directly or post on the Cedar Creek community forums. If a member is interested, they may call and offer to write a reference letter. This method is more challenging.
Attend Information Session (Optional): If you have questions about the club or application process, attend an information session available on weekdays.

• Reputation
• Job Type and Level
• Charisma
• Interview Outcome
These elements can greatly increase your chances of getting accepted into the country club.
Once they become a member and pay the $10,000 initiation fee, your entire household will also gain Cedar Creek membership.
As a Cedar Creek member, there are ongoing fees to pay. You can choose to pay annually (over four weeks) or quarterly (over one week). It’s important to stay on top of these payments to maintain your membership. There are many activities your sim can partake in with family and friends. You can find these options on the computer in the Country Club pie menu.
Your sim can try to appeal to the country club if they have been rejected, kicked out, or blacklisted. The chances of getting another shot are very low, but high charisma can significantly help.
If they get lucky and are invited to meet with the admissions committee, they have a few hours to attend the meeting and must commit immediately. If they were previously kicked out, they will still need to pay the initiation fee again.
Lot Trait
I have also added a Country Club lot trait with the mod. So as a Cedar Creek member if you don't feel like going to rabbit hole activities you use the country club lot trait and use it on any lot.
I wanted the Country Club lot trait to be customizable, so random members won’t show up automatically; you need to assign members to make it exclusive.
You can assign members by left-shift clicking on the computer and finding the option under the country club pie menu. There are a few social interactions available for different sims at the country club, depending on their roles.
The lot trait is straightforward, but the key is to assign members. You can also remove members using the same method.
Does this mod require any DLC?
No, it does not.
What else do I need for the mod?
Lumpinou's Mood Pack Mod, so it is required for the mod to work properly.

some undifferentiated thoughts about my Starfield playthrough as i have them. i am a game developer with a strong interest in procedural generation and i've enjoyed a bunch of other bethesda games so this might get pretty mean sorry
(this is a long one)
starfield dialogue is already exhausting me "oh you must've been living under a moon rock ;)" get it! because they're in space! this would've been too corny for the Jetsons
there's a kind of cheap dusting of space theme over everything. the food isn't salmon but alien salmon. it's not seaweed but alien seaweed. cooking alien stir-fry. come on
cannot get over how clumsily the theming is handled. books, board games, weapon names revolve heavily around space. these people have been living on alien planets for hundreds of years yet have this unending sense of novelty about it. the game takes itself completely seriously but feels like it's attempting to parody itself
people's EYEBALLS are CLIPPING THROUGH THEIR EYELIDS
a woman is speaking to me in french. her accent is about as believable as her haircut
these are some of the worst reflection maps i've ever seen
next to nothing is interactive. you can sit in chairs and sleep in beds and that is about it. can't even drink from people's toilets. disgraceful
game helpfully crashes 5 seconds after i decide i should get some sleep. very handy!
my character has not said a single thing since i started playing. not one peep. this is an unmitigated improvement over Fallout 4 i'm so glad honestly
the more i poke around the big city the more the NPC quips feel like something out of gen-1 pokemon. can't get enough of this coffee :) this city is where it's at :) spacesuits are comfy and easy to wear
very strange sense of altered reality from the quest dialogue too. has anyone at bethesda met a person before? i move on to some mission that has me scanning wildlife on a faraway planet hoping this will, somehow, feel less alien than human conversation
just as with No Man's Sky, every planet is uniformly dotted with equidistantly-placed points of interest that you slowly make your way to (no vehicles besides your jetpack) which always turn out to be some cave or building identical to those you've cleared before
unlike with No Man's Sky, the seamless exploration is faked and the biodiversity is nil. you do get an impressive amount of raw loading screens however
the prefab bases and power stations found everywhere on planets seem to have very sparse, very specific slots for spawning consumables, which results in encountering some giant industrial installation in the middle of nowhere with, i don't know, a loaf of whole-grain sandwich bread just casually sitting next to it all proper. there is no breathable atmosphere here. who is eating this
planetary traversal is a CHORE. i am saying this as someone who loved Death Stranding
heinous "hold to confirm" buttons sprinkled in various flow-breaking places throughout the interface
enemy AI is abominable. nobody is pathing their way to get my ass. "must've been the wind" taken to the next level. an infant playing peekaboo has more object permanence
hoisting yourself up on ledges when jumping is…nice
companions randomly nowhere to be found. persists through multiple fast-travels and loading screens until, just as randomly, they pop back up
storage space is now limited! unlike in Fallout 4 and virtually every other bethesda game, your containers now hold a finite item capacity. god forbid we let the player have fun
baffling inventory UI. i imagine there's a mod out there that completely overhauls it the way SkyUI did for Skyrim. this should not be needed! how are your UIs getting worse a decade later!
scanning the precious few species inhabiting some dusty planet; one of them is this arching red root i've already seen several times before. my job done in this biome, i travel (read: teleport with a loading screen) to the polar region to find some other species. the first one i catalogue is the exact same red root again but this time it's named "boreas root" todd howard is a genius
some alien horror comes at me full fangs out. i hop on a pebble. obscenely, i am safe
procedural terrain generation beyond dull, impossibly unimaginative. these people have not had one critical thought on what makes a procedural world interesting. beginning to feel validated in my belief that only i should be trusted with proc gen. along with perhaps tarn adams
jokes aside this is making me feel genuinely insane. there have been excellent procedural generation techniques that produce compelling explorable maps for decades now. bethesda absolutely has the budget and know-how to do miles better than this yet somehow they just…do not? the same way Pokemon has decided to just no longer bother with their mainline games despite being the highest-grossing media franchise in history? hello? what is for real going on
some of the most cynical breadcrumbing i've seen in years. approaching some random cave and this person in space gear, who in the vast immensity of the infinite cosmos just happens to be snapping pictures right here, tells me more-or-less verbatim "if you like this place, you should see this other place" [other random cave has been added to your map.]
i do not like how good this makes No Man's Sky's gameplay look. it depresses me how much i have to hand it to No Man's Sky for at least not fucking up this bad. please stop making me wish i was playing No Man's Sky instead this is grotesque
i think i've exhausted my interest and patience for this game at the moment. i'll get back to the main story at some point and try some other systems ie. crafting and base-building to see if there's any engagement to be found but so far, my god. my god

Crisis core has the funniest fighting UI i think ive ever seen. There is a SLOTS GAME that dictate what power up you get so its almost always random. AND its filled up with other peoples limit breaks? That he has just copied? He doesnt even need to see the person fight, he gets it from just talking to a person. Which, has there ever been an explanation for why he can do that?
Also in top of that insanity, theres memory flashes. In the middle of battle. You can Literally See how distracted Zack is at All Times.
When i say slots game i mean there is literally one on the top left corner spinning during every battle. its kind of distracting.
My friend called this game ADHD simulator. He's right.

Translations have been put on hold until I push out more content for the game.
Most of the spites have received a few minor adjustments to (hopefully) fix the art inconsistency issue.
There will be another woohoo scene in Day 3... The 14 Nights With You DLC is slowly turning into a reality.....
You will be able to invite the cast to your apartment (or visit a few of them!) to hang out one-on-one 💗
I created a new and improved "relationship screen"! Now you can see the status and affinity meter of the cast more clearly.
To all of the 2017 Ren enjoyers… I see you I hear you I feel you 💕 Enjoy having the option to choose Ren's hair length now hehe
I changed up some of the UI so that the overall theme is more consistent.
There's now a new Dead End, a Fox Ren easter egg, and updated CG art to match Ren's hairstyle!
Still no ETA yet on when the beta version will be released to the public >.< But Discord "Server Boosters" currently have access to the beta build!

As a way to show my gratitude towards those who choose to boost the 14DWY server, I've decided to release the Day 3 beta build for them to test out! Because of them, we're able to have over 200 emote slots, a custom banner, and a vanity link!! I appreciate y'all very much!
I also don't have a specific date in mind, but once I'm satisfied with all of the feedback + bug fixes, I'll release Day 3 for everyone else to play. So no need to boost the server!! Feel free to wait until I release it to the public (which should be soon >:3).

I wanna make ocs/Aus of ocs of your au. So I was wondering if you could supply A Template of this?
Like. Without the text, characters, stat info. Just everything really. But without the uniqe info.
If you can too can you tell us the fonts you use?
Of course! Here are three versions: one without any extra info, one with the relationships chart, and one with the boxer info slot!
I use Reem Kufi for the character and moveset names, Briarwood Heavy for wrestling names and Microsoft YaHei UI for all the smaller text!
