Hello hi welcome so uh funny story

I was trying to think of something to base the never witch on n i remember that she said she's the first dream so all witch stories are based on her so i thought maybe i could base her on some sort of fear

N the first scarey thing i thought of is the ocean so uh fish never witch idk

N i thought oh if never witch is the ocean he sister should be the complete opposite what if she's space n i thought wow they both represent the unknown but never witch is the fear of the unknown while her sister is like wounder for the unknown idk words

THEN i was like what if her sister n sandman kiss cause uh um yes also sandman is the person never witch went to to ask about her sister so mr sandman care to explain why you in particular would know where the sister is 🤨 were you kissing her before she disintegrated to become part of the dreamworld perhaps 🤨

Also yes the sister has a sand cape sandman gave it to her thanks for listening

So I was thinking about Dreamzzz season 2 today, specifically how the threat the Never Witch posed felt so much more real than a lot of other villains, even among other Lego shows.

It’s no secret that villains and the danger they pose are always more interesting when it both means something to the main characters, and said villain has a personal motive outside of “I want power because I am EVIL”. When we can see the real, personal effects the villain leaves on the world. It’s why in Ninjago, Harumi’s story made the impact of the S1 finale that much greater, because we know of the consequences. To paraphrase OSP for a moment: we can’t realistically fathom the threat of “the world is going to end/be taken over”, but we can fathom “the world, which has the people you love in it, will end/be taken over” easier. Not to mention, if they’ve got a motive that’s deep and personal, their actions suddenly don’t become so “pure evil”, more of a means to an end, they become more real, more human.

I personally REALLY like how Dreamzzz did all that with the Never Witch. Her story is such a classic example of life circumstances/personal endeavors and values pulling a close relationship (of any kind) apart, and, instead of accepting that as a part of life, one person clings onto the relationship for dear life, regardless of how much it’s only hurting both parties. She loved her sister, but said something she didn’t mean in her anger and grief, something I’m sure a lot of people can relate to. Not on the same scale, obviously, but still.

Also, the threat of “what if she wins” isn’t “the world will end”, it’s “the word as we know it will end”, and, aside from that playing super well into the themes of change, the show goes out of its way to show the exact effects of the Never Witch’s actions on the Waking World. Yes, nobody is dead/dying and everything is physically intact… but nobody is themselves. They can’t form new ideas, create new things, everything that makes life interesting… is impossible. They’re shells of their former selves, trapped in loops of pre-existing thoughts and ideas, devoid of what makes them… them.

It’s played largely for comedy, but it’s honestly deeply horrifying when you think about what’s truly happening and the ramifications. Dystopian is the best word I can use for it.

I also just LOVE how the Never Witch’s motives are presented as sympathetic, but not her actions. Yeah, bare minimum if you want to write a villain like this, but it’s unfortunately still a pitfall too much media falls into. Yeah, it’s understandable how she became the way she is, but that doesn’t make what she did ok in any regard, nor is she forgiven for what she did, simply… allowed to make her amends. Now, I do think it would’ve made the ending better if she wasn’t allowed to keep her artifacts to make extra sure she won’t be a threat anymore, but this isn’t about that.

Also also, one last thing- the fact she was talked down as opposed to being fought makes me SO NORMAL. Especially because it was ACTUALLY BUILT UP TO AND MADE SENSE WITH THE SETUP- like, honestly the Never Witch taking out a memory of her own and hiding it away, metaphorically suppressing it is just- MWA! I LOVE ITTTTTTTTT- and we still got fun action with Mateo and Cooper trying to stop/undo the spell!

so im doing my dreamzzz ex au timeline and it’s currently at six pages but it covers everything from Never Witch and her sister’s creation to Mateo getting his Dream Keeper title

so yea I came up with Lore for Oz in the au and I decided his parents get to know about dream chasers + the dream world but aren’t aware dreamers Nova style. His parents are also paranoid and when Oz tells them he’s an aware dreamer they basically pack up all their belongings and take him on the run so people don’t accidentally discover said aware dreamer-ness about Oz. anyways they’re fun :3

Finished Dreamzzz s2 today and well it was . certainly something ? I don't want to get Too into it (there are SOME spoilers here tho, esp for the finale) but... all I can say is I don't think Dreamzzz is very much for me?

I'll still keep watching cus I think the show does Something interesting, but all I'll say is some things felt like they dragged on FOREVER and others felt lke they happened WAY too fast? I felt this most in the final two episodes for Sure.

I will say the Never-Witch stuff was a way faster heel turn than even Crystalized Harumi... at least THAT had build-up of some kind, even if not a Good story... she literally went from "I will kill every single being in the Dream World" to "fuck bro I just miss my sister :(" to "Yeah I changed my mind now dw guys" like what the actual hell ??? lol. lmao.

Ofc I don't LIKE comparing Ninjago and the other Lego series but... like when Tommy A. literally worked on both it's kinda difficult Not to? The writing difference is always so Jarring to me... no wonder he had such minimal writing input in Ninjago dawg like ...

Episode 11

The gold armory looks nice. But, Dreamzzz really has a habit of starting episodes randomly. For a split second I thought it was like.. episode12. Not 11. I thought I skipped something-

For once, Royce said something right. How did you not notice Mateo wasn't the real Mateo!! Still confused of how it works

Oh cool. The Never Witch has her own special edition of barbie's dream house

Dressing for the occasion? Heck yeah! Whooo (the colors look a bit brighter or... some like that in this season. Is it just me?)

Also, Madeo. Your mom is weird. Stay safe. I mean.. seriously. Why does she love dates so much

Honestly- the crow with the house.. was kind of disappointing. The crow looks so... dull. The lego set makes it look SO cool

But if they keep releasing it half and half... it feels like they're two different seasons. Which brings my brain to believe, "how is Cooper getting his character arc during the very beginning and he barely shows up afterwards??" So... yeah. That's kind of a problem for me..)

She did indeed. And it made a wonderful, beautiful sight(I'm sorry Coops. But it has a lot of potential and I love this concept. You go boy!)(and if he said that, there's a opportunity that he can do tech stuff now. But he just hasn't tried it yet)

So... it escalated a bit. And the story went by way too fast for my taste. But a lot of new things and facts... it's a pretty nice start I think

Yup. Here we have a single mother with a bunch of strange pets, and her five children

Cooper can drive(pilot?) again! Yay~ and I seriously love how he refers to all vehicles with pet names. Like 'sweetheart' or 'baby'

"I wonder what's in his fridge"

Hm. Now I'm curious too

Oh- it's on autopilot. Well- Cooper still gets to be the one behind the wheels in case something goes wrong. That's something!

So this is dream space. And it's nice to know that the fact Mr. Oz wanted to be an astronaut when he was younger is still a thing and not just a one time mention thing that gets scraped
