Kingsley tells his boss that they've found some leads on Sirius's whereabouts, points in a random direction, lies to all his coworkers so theyre misguided and essentially, running around like headless chickens while he's at the back, orchestrating the entire thing, probably enjoying it, then he goes to GP12 and fucks the Azkaban escapee he swore to everyone he'd find and throw back in jail.

ugh like could u imagine Sirius and Kingsley under the sheets together, Kingsley writing a letter to his boss full of fake information, false promises in his honor to bring back the convict, while the same convict is on his side, sucking on his neck?? Sirius probably gives his own input too like a beta reader?? YUMMMYYY

Sirius is the third in the stormking marriage and it’s like he’s 20something and broke and they’re this older well off bored married couple and they decide hey what the hell and suddenly sirius is drinking their expensive merlot in a velvet robe after round 4848575 because for 40sometings they can go for a while

And it’s perfect because kingsley needs a new shiny thing to dote on and alastor loves providing and protecting and sirius is a-ok fulfilling whatever role they need

sirius is BROKE 😭😭 like he went from being raised around the finer things in life to being bust down broke as fuck. so when he runs into these older gay guys who clearly have cash.... he's scheming from the moment he meets them. alastor and kingsley r both like. wow. look at this shiny new toy we get to play with. so they r taking him on expensive ass dates and LAVISH vacations and he's just their 20something twink there to entertain them. he's not not a sugarbaby... but also he likes them!! alastor is like. giving him career guidance n shit. and kingsley is always giving him life advice. for angst purposes i feel like alastor definitelyyyyy catches hard feelings & genuinely cares for sirius on a very deep level whereas kingsley is like. this is literally a 20 year old nyu student we found on grindr. like he's cool but he's not part of our family ?? chill out. but kingsley and sirius fuck the nastiest which is why kingsley keeps him around. and then sirius is litr just happy to be there !!!!!!!!

Hey, I was randomly scrolling through your fic’s on ao3 and I saw the “The Great Chocolate Shortage of 1996” and I know how you talked about liking Prongsfoot more than Wolfstar and the fic I saw you wrote Sirius/Kingsley. I’ve never heard of that ship before lmao how did you come up with it? Like what were your thoughts behind it?

omg omg okay, I love Kingsley/Sirius and desperately need to spread this agenda 🕺though I cannot take credit for coming up with it! (I’d forgotten I’d ever written that fic, honestly. Not sure how it holds up lol) 

Not only is there the idea that Kingsley is heading up the investigation for Sirius and, therefore, like literally looking for him, but Kingsley is risking everything to make up lies to keep Sirius safe. Not only would Kingsley lose his job, but he’d likely be arrested if it became obvious what he was doing. and yet he’s doing it, yes technically for the order but suspend your disbelief for a second with me and say it’s for Sirius 🙂

I think Kingsley represents a kind of steady stability that Sirius needs after Azkaban as someone who is mostly calm, and collected, but also ready to call people like Dumbledore out on his bullshit (for example, it’s Kingsley that says Dumbledore should have made Harry prefect, and Remus who blindly stands firm with Dumbledore’s decision [Ootp ch9). Kingsley’s not involved in that drama, so he can be the person that Sirius leans on pretty easily. It’s almost a fresh start with someone who knew James, but isn’t wrapped up in his own baggage about it and doesn’t come with the same toxicity towards each other that Wolfstar does. 

I reckon it started out as harmless banter, and then snowballed into casual hookups and if Sirius had lived long enough to begin to heal properly, maybe a long-term thing. I think Kingsley is different enough from Sirius to present an interesting dynamic, whilst being much closer than you’d think on the surface. And fuck I think Sirius would make a great Minister’s husband, I think that’d be hilarious from the wizarding world’s perspective 🙂‍↕️

I also just love Kingsley and don’t get to do enough with him, so if I get the chance I put him with Sirius - I’ve also written them together in the background in The World We Build. But other authors have done it much better like HecateA over on fanfic.net and Postcard in Paris by Greyeyedmonster18 (it’s moonchaser but the Kingsley/Sirius stuff is still very good).

More Sirius and Kingsley?

kingsley being the only one who treats sirius normally. they talk about the war and kingsley's work and odd gossip, they bounce theories and studies and research off each other to keep themselves sharp. kingsley respects sirius too much to pity him and sirius detests being pitied. sirius always looked up to kingsley, always respected him - back in the first war he would always pair up with him because he needed that validation (kingsley misses something about it, though he's not sure if it's being admired by sirius or being admired by sirius).

they're very domestic, post war (they don't have a choice). sirius is more reclusive than ever and kingsley has the patience of a saint. soft touches in the kitchen. sirius giving kingsley ideas on how to lead the aurors off his case. kingsley makes dry little comments and jokes in sirius' ear in order meetings. they tire themselves out in the day and collapse in bed together. no one knows they're together because they barely interact (busy busy busy) but they have the sweetest letters to and from each other tucked away somewhere. they'll be sitting together, kingsley's arm around sirius' shoulder, sirius' head resting on kingsley's and then someone will be like wait... are you two...? & they thought everyone already knew

Padfoot sniffs along the edge of a garbage can. It’s not his favorite way to find food, but he can’t really be picky when–

“Hey there, pretty boy,” a kind voice says behind him.

Padfoot shrinks back slightly as he turns, then even more as he sees who is behind him. Sirius hasn’t seen Kingsley Shacklebolt since he left Hogwarts. Kingsley was two years behind them, and Sirius was fully enveloped in the war effort before Kingsley finished school.

Kingsley squats near him, hand outstretched. “It’s alright, sweet boy. Can I help you?”

He’s wearing maroon auror’s robes, stretched tight across his chest, and Padfoot honestly isn’t sure if this is a trick or not. He’s just escaped Azkaban. He would be a fool to get close to an auror. Instead, Padfoot edges away from Kingsley, back hunched.

“Okay, wait, hold on,” Kingsley holds a hand out, facing it at Padfoot. “Stay, I’ll be back in just a moment.” Kingsley apparates away without bothering to see if there are muggles around. Foolish, probably. Padfoot is surrounded, most likely.

He shouldn’t wait. It’s practically signing his own order for a dementor’s kiss to stay. In fact, he should run far, far away. Instead, he goes back to looking for food. He slinks away down the alley, sniffing at trash cans again. When there’s a loud crack, he hides behind one of the cans.

Padfoot can just see Kingsley from his hiding place, and there’s something in his hand. Padfoot lifts his nose and sniffs the air as Kingsley turns, scratching his head with his free hand, looking for where he went. It’s food. In his hand is something delicious–chicken, Padfoot thinks. He doesn’t mean to, but he walks out from behind his can, nose wiggling in the air.

Kingsley turns again and sees him, and there’s a big smile on his face. “There you are, pretty boy. I knew you didn’t leave. Such a good boy.” Kingsley squats, hand outstretched with the chicken toward him.

Padfoot doesn’t even recall deciding to move, but he’s suddenly snuffling in Kingsley’s hand as he devours the last of the chicken. “There you are. I know you were hungry. Can I get you some more? Would you come with me if I promised you more?”

Padfoot licks his hand now, trying to catch all of the grease left in the grooves of his palm. When Kingsley starts walking again, with a come on, good boy, Padfoot follows him. He has no choice, probably. There is chicken involved.

This Sirius/Kingsley fic explores the idea that Kingsley's views on Azkaban would be permanently altered by having known and loved Sirius, and this would influence the decisions he makes as Minister of Magic.

I mean, how could it not, really? The ship, of course, is not canon, but he did know Sirius and seems to have been on good terms with him. And he was the one who stopped using dementors as prison guards. You expect me not to think those two things are connected? This fic takes that idea a lot further, and it makes so much sense.
